you're in luck anon, i have so many headcanons about biker gang! Kid Pirates.
Kid started his biker gang started when he was 13 and was trying to fight against the corrupt gangs in his city.
His gang is in control of at least 1/3 of the city now, with the various other ones being too scared to say anything about it.
His mission was to make it safer for the younger people he would regularly see getting hurt.
The Kid Pirates' main hang out spot/base is their repair shop.
The shop would either be at the centre of town or next to the local beach (I'm leaning towards the beach).
There's usually a group of admirers sat up the road from the shop watching the sight and flirting with them.
Some of the gang (Hip and Quincy especially) love the fact they have admirers and often go to flirt with them.
Disc J has to drag them back regularly and remind them to do their work.
Its usually open 24/7 with the gang swapping the various shifts between each other depending on their personal schedules or commitments.
The shifts are often decided based on rock paper scissors or a thumb war but the gang are prone to cheating over it.
Some of the members have children, pets or young siblings to look after so they're allowed priority to pick the shifts that they want.
Heat, Haikei and Killer are often designated babysitters of the crew's family members if they have to work, with Oscar and Wire being designated pet sitters.
In the summer, Wire can often be seen running with Pomp and House's dogs.
Known for being aggressive and cold to outsiders.
Noe isn't allowed to be left alone in the workshop.
People are scared of the crew, but the locals to the shop will always intensely defend them and argue all the good they've done for the community.
It is a very well known fact that you can go up to them for help if needed but they don't like being approached unless its necessary (walking home/body-guarding/getting some drugs).
Most people are too scared to ask for help but they can usually tell if you need it.
Biggest feminists and allies, they permanently have a jar by the till asking you to donate to various charities and Heat ensures at least 5% of yearly profits are donated as well.
Some of them are involved in local schemes to help give back to the community and the remaining ones end up having to regularly do community service.
Kid designed and built his own bike, then built Heat, Wire and Killer's bikes based off their personal designs.
Always keeps spare parts in the repair shop so people can work on their own projects or their bikes.
He also has a special private workshop and desk that no one is allowed to touch or move anything.
He'll have a temper tantrum if someone does.
They're very into the rave and clubbing scenes; it's usually pretty easy to spot them standing next to their bikes in the smoking area or in booths watching the dancing.
They are all heart throbs but are almost all players and lead people on (accidentally or intentionally).
Rare for them to start relationships so its a big deal when it happens.
Kid demands they volunteer as escorts for abuse victims and Killer frequently encourages them to help those who need it with their errands.
Also participate in local fight clubs and boxing tournaments, Kid is the reigning champion for most of them.
He probably lost his arm in one of these fights or in a war over his territory, but replaced it with a prosthetic one that he built himself.
It's fairly easy to talk to them and sleep with them but very difficult to become a part of the gang or friend group.
The gang is famous for their captain's short temper and most of town is terrified of getting on his bad side.
New additions are usually partners of current members, members of ally groups or people who impress Kid with their fighting or engineering skills.
Oscar's pet cat often wonders into the repair to shop to demand pets and get in the way of constructions.
They all believe in the importance of found family since most of them were outcasts before finding Kid.
They're a very feral group and are incredibly intimidating, but they'll try their hardest to make sure everyone around them is safe.
They all share the same morals and beliefs.
Fearlessly loyal to Kid and would do anything he asked of them in exchange for giving him his own family.
Kid loves his found family more than anything but has no clue how to express it to them.

Powehouse AU: aka Danny Fenton tries to be a normal college student in the midwest yet is forced to continue to be a hero in secret as ghosts won't leave him alone and soon, neither will the Justice League when he pops up as a new hero.

ANYWAYS, here is some powerhouse au information.

Danny as he grows up manages to keep the ghost situation under control to a point he isn't overly active as Phantom. He finishes highschool no problem and goes to uni over in Central City for Maths and Engineering (not an overtly big fan of the space motif and instead, I'm shoving my boy into something cooler: PLANES! He's studying specifically mechanical engineering and has plans to go to a trade school after his B.S. for A&P mechanics.)
Sam goes to Gotham State University for Ethnobotany and works in one of the unis library part time. Tucker is going to Star City College for Computer Science and a minor in archeology, he tutors part time.
Danny's main design is inspired by a combo of military and blue collar uniforms (you can also see exactly what I reference). I also couldn't decide a face mask so you get all three options.

So as Danny moves to Central City and attends uni, his rouges do sadly follow him and wreck havoc. Danny is stressed from school so he doesn't do quips as much, in fact, he's trying to get this under control as fast as possible so he can go back and study. Here's the thing, no one outside of Amityville has seen Phantom so all of the sudden what seems to be a meta? an alien? something not human? coming out and taking down rouges that, due to being ghosts, other heros struggle to contain and handle.
Speculation rises about Phantom and who he is. Danny is smart and thought this through, kinda. His costume is a modified look what he wore as a kid but he pulls in more military/uniform aspects to make it seem like he belongs to someone or some organization. That maybe somewhere in the US, an organization managed to make a hero of sorts that mimics Green Lanterns. It's just a big red herring, Danny wants them to look for someone older, probably more experienced, and a different background. Not some tired college student struggling with his studies.
Things do start to get dicey when heroes actively try to interact with him, mostly the Flash (because Central City), Superman, and the Green Lantern. Most interactions end up with Phantom not wanting to fight and fleeing or when cornered to fight, he's messy and inexperienced compared to the other heroes. He doesn't stay around and rarely even talks. It's concerning more so because the heroes aren't sure with who they're dealing with and after a few interactions, they aren't sure Phantom is on their side. Just too many questions around him.
This leads to heroes actively trying to capture and bring in Phantom. The more failed attempts that happen, the more flightly Phantom acts when they end up interrupting him capturing his rouges. They do eventually capture Phantom (thank you Superman) and that's kinda where I end on information on this AU. It's just me having fun with interactions and also designing costumes :)

Put the Undersiders in a busy airport or train station. How do they handle it? Who gets onto a the wrong flight/train? How many times would Aisha use her power to get into the cockpit or engine room of the train?
oh my GOD how is putting the undersiders in a busy airport or train station not one of the Situations we've put them in yet. this is great. paging @simurghed urgently. everyone please share your undersiders go to busy airport or train station thoughts this is my favorite kind of autism to engage in
brian is like. You know he's being brian about this. you know he's got his schedule printed out and all the tickets pointed out and they're in some little binder and he's making sure he specifically is carrying it the whole time. and the one time lisa casually reminds him to make sure he has xyz necessary item he's like I Have It, Don't Be Neurotic, because his coping mechanism for being nervous and feeling like a woman is questioning his Authority (<- assumed as the main and eternal coping mechanism) is misogyny. love him.
obviously taylor is bringing bugs with her wherever they go and i like to imagine if theyre sitting down in an airport waiting for a really long time and they were in one of the areas where the birds have gotten inside and are nesting + looking for food (that's a universal airport feature right? the birds that got indoors and just live there now?) she might entertain alec and aisha and also herself by flying bugs around 4 the birds and leading them on little hunting excursions and into loops and shit.
aisha takes selfies in the cockpit or engine room (shes posing next to the pilot and making bunny ears behind their head with her fingers) whenever she gets bored and then comes back to show them to alec and brian realizes theres Muffled Laughter happening in their row after aishas been Not There for a while and is like. hmm. that cant be good. and is doing a really bad job of trying to twist himself out of his seat casual-style to find out whats all that then. i can also imagine him insisting on seating himself next to aisha
...three seat plane rows. brian sitting in the middle of aisha and alec and having a wretched time. taylor rachel and lisa lezzing it up in the row in front of them.
i think alec would really enjoy take-off on a plane because Wheee he's all floaty :) and then spend the next however many hours experiencing boredom-induced ego death. possible activities include: fiddling around on his ds. making a little teenager-typical 2011-era flipaclip animation. accidentally falling asleep on brian's arm and starting to snore and drool while aisha is doing the same thing on his other arm. watching a bad movie on his little in-flight tv screen and hopefully trying to engage both brian and aisha in conversation about it because he wants to have friends.
okay i diverged from the point of air Port or train Station sorry. ive never been in a real train station so i have less to speak for there but i think it would be fun to watch the undersiders get crotchety with each other in a long line for overpriced airport food.
imagine if you will brian and taylor trying to fit comfortably in a Nappable Position in the chairs in the flight waiting area. leg cramp city
i think this would all probably be very stressful for rachel :( maybe she andt aylor should hold hands about it. to be safe.
i want to see how lisa tries to make waiting in an airport an enriching and fulfilling activity for taylor so bad. honestly it would probably be no matter what. real bonding experience.

you know if they were at a busy train station brian would do that thing where he ushers the undersiders around physically and it is fully an indicator of his psychological issues but also it'd be cute. it'd be cute to watch him blocking the crowd so everyone else could move more comfortably and use his Height Advantage to guide everyone most efficiently by pressing on their backs. his psychological issues are endearing
people keep asking about How Much Longer Until Boarding and lisa starts getting bored and providing real-time updates of the Precise amount of time left. if theres a delay she reads out why too

This one made me actually consider how they balance the humours beyond just a simply "they scour it out". Because sometimes a holy beast gets 'sick' and it's not necessarily related to any sort of tissue growth, it's more often a mechanical fault and because the beast is considered to be alive, he is then therefore 'sick'. So how do we deal with this? An enginesmith will make the necessary repairs, but sometimes the sickness is related to environmental conditions. The four humours are arranged on a scale like this:

A mechanical fault associated with being too hot and dry could be something like a lack of lubrication on moving machine parts. So this would be considered the reason for a production of yellow bile (excess of yellow bile, btw, was what Pantera was diagnosed with on his last outing). Whether or not the bile is literal or more symbolic depends on the case. Anyway this was the reason Pantera is associated with fire (originally, when I was designing them all) and Leun, diametrically opposite, is associated with phlegm, water, acid, etc.
But anyway, the way to fix these imbalances in hot/cold/wet/dry is to simply reduce whichever one is excessive. In practice, keeping holy beasts maintained even when they're not out on a crusade is a full time job for an army of workers, where the atmospheric conditions need to be as neutral as possible. Too wet and you've got rust, too dry and the metal fatigues, to hot and it might warp and break, too cold and the joints won't fit properly, etc etc. Although the enginesmiths view this through a lens of The Four Humours, it's also just good practice to try to keep things balanced.
Btw while they do cure an excess of blood by bleeding the holy beast, they don't make leeches big enough :'(

There are illustrated representations of dragons that are pretty traditionally dragony (typically a winged serpent with many tails representing the stinging tendrils). These are added to drawings and art as a catch-all symbol for a conscious and targeted Evil. The laity, which is very devout, is unlikely to associate dragons with resistance - dragons cause a lot of damage too, and those stinging barbs will kill you just from the trauma of the impalement before the venom even has a chance to (unless you just get grazed, in which case.. the venom will paralyse you. then kill you)
So active rebellions/civil wars/wars of succession have occurred many times. The subjugated Midaean nation/territory (depending on who you ask) rallies around their beloved Saint Lycaon, a wolf. Flags and signs depicting a wolf devouring a crocodile/a lion/whatever holy beast currently tops the hierarchy of the church would be more likely. Rebellion itself is rarely black and white and as neat as picking a symbol the church hates. It is more likely people would pick a symbol that they love. Outside of Midea, the Mezian empire might not be at its peak but it also has not given its own citizens and laity a reason to take up arms against it.

So the nerve cords inside the vertebrae are artificial, but they still perform the same physiological function as a real spinal column. They interface with a knight's dialogue. This produces an incredible amount of heat - this is why the spines are often exposed, even though that might be a point of vulnerability. The spinous processes in particular are very effective heat sinks.
But the tail? In most cases we don't need the tail, really. The spinal column ends at the base of the pelvis. The tail is cropped for most beasts on purpose - we don't need this thing dangling around and becoming entangled, and it has no machinery around it to act as replacement muscles so it couldn't move even if they wanted it to. Krokodilos's tail is the exception and it's just extremely heavy for not much pay off. That's a lot of additional engines we gotta maintain.
So the tail tends to be abandoned. The bones are kept of course but not mounted on the chassis where they're not needed. With no nerve cord running through them they don't run hot either so they won't disperse heat all that well.
Now for replacing bones... they don't. The bones that exist in the chassis are the bare minimum needed to perform the required functions - basic movement. They don't have ribs, they often don't have phalanges. A skull is there to complete the nerve cord - but all you need of that skull is the occipital bone. Nothing more.
If they break a leg, it might be repaired using screw and plate fixation. The bone may deign to knit together (enginesmiths swear that they don't allow tissue growth ever.. but sometimes you need some periosteum. Don't tell the bishops). But if it gets crushed? That's the holy beast done, scrap heap time. The majority of all holy beasts that have ever existed have already broken down and been decommissioned at the start of this story - we only have seven left (eight if you count krokodilos). Krokodilos is an unusual case because he is not dead, so they can't just hold a state funeral and add his heart engine block to the big hall of old hearts in the cathedral. He's sleeping.
But he's the exception. Take Saint Guinefort - dead as a doornail. He had a full funeral, his heart was put in the hall and his body was [redacted] like they do with all dead holy beasts. And then he was [redacted] and now our pal "Sir Victory" with the metal arm uses him as Nosewyse. Circle of life.
I think sidecar motorcycle is a pretty apt way of looking at him lmao. You don't wanna know how many people he's cooked.

Hey there! So I know I've mentioned they are similar to pterosaurs but they are not related to them at all. In fact they are cetaceans :) Later art I did of them plays up the mammal traits a bit more. Check out these nipples

However it is a fact that they are not closely related to modern cetaceans - as in, they did not evolve from modern whales and dolphins, but belong to a side branch that diverged relatively early, around the same time dragons were leaving the water for the skies. That art is quite old too, from before I kind of nailed it all down, so if I drew them now I would remove the more derived traits (i.e the single blowhole, the tail flukes, etc) and tidy it up a little. They diverged from the lineage that would become modern whales before the pelvic limbs were lost. I originally depict them having the crowbar-like claws on their feet to lever skin parasites off the dragon, but i think they are more likely to not use their feet much at all, and are more likely to use their single huge beak-like tooth to do the job instead. They cannot walk on flat surfaces.

Only insects and, specifically, winged insects :) I know it would be really cool to have various other giant arthropods but milennia ago, when they crossed into Thera for the first time, insects were the only fliers. And there is no other way to get over the mountain range quickly enough for it not to kill you. The mountain range in which the endless city sits is completely and 100% devoid of life. A journey on foot for a tiny bug would be next to impossible - they are more likely to starve or simply turn around and go back to where the food is.
The winged insects, otoh, can cross the range in a day or less, if the breeze is flowing right. And they would find plants already there in Thera - also solely wind-dispersed species from the previous time the mountains arrived and linked the world with Earth. The insects didn't really come by choice, sometimes the wind just blows the wrong way, but they definitely got lucky.
There are wingless insects in Thera today but only because they lost that trait over time (like ants or larviform female beetles). They have managed to colonise every reasonable habitat, including the sea (though the sea is not very salty) and have developed into a lot of very strange forms which might be unrecognisable to us. But a lot of them just got bigger and smarter.
This time round, in the period of time the story is set (early 1900s on earth), the mountains appeared and new animals crossed over who were not insects. Birds have become invasive in Thera, happily taking advantage of the smaller insect species who are completely unprepared for this new threat. There are also some wind-dispersed spiders hanging out now.
EDIT: oh i forgor the parasites on the flying insects that first colonised thera... yes they would have mites and horsehair worms and things of that nature

He's not good with comforting, but will let you vent to him and just stay within the med bay

if you ex was extremely abusive sniper would kill them with no remorse, but ensure the bullet hits them where it would make their death slow and painful.

When you leave he's already tracked your ex down (not hard since he'd been keeping tabs on them ever since you two got together)
Blackmails your ex into the ground, forces them to make a video apology, give up their belongings and more. He sends the video and all his collected photos and videos of their abuse to your ex's family.
By family i mean everyone who is merely connected with them
Would throw his card at you, telling you nothing as he lets you go crazy with his money
He thinks retail therapy would help
If you thank him for anything he'd wave you off, saying "he deserved it" and lighting another cigarette.

Roman Gray [RO, he/him] - Your rival on the track. Gray came from the same neighbourhood as you, and you've raced alongside him since your very first competition. But he's no longer that young boy, left grinning with adrenaline after every circuit. No, now he's hungry for that prize with a stern drive that wont let whatever friendship you had get in the way of, and faces you only with stone cold glares and ridiculously tough competition.
Backstory - You and Roman grew up racing along tracks all over small town California, proving yourselves to everyone who doubted you over the years and rising fast in the ranks beside one another. You both spend your nights after races at the same bar in San Diego, where you make memories and vow to each other to make it to the top: the URCA championships. If only it were possible to do it together.
Appearance - Short dark brown hair in a textured fringe, gray eyes, soft, one sided smile, lean muscle, fair skin, 6'0. He wears his race jacket whenever he can, usually over casual streetwear with dark neutral tones and greens.
Romance Route - Rivals to lovers. Compete with Roman in the championship league while underlying grudges, hurt, and jealousy get in the way of the love that you share underneath, and the will to forgive. Can you repair what was once there, rescuing it from the rubble of that last night in California, or will you let it fall away under the press' love of rivalries? Or will it become something more?

Nicholas/Nadine Spade [RO, gender selectable] - The other driver on your new team, nicked "The Blade" and loved by many. N has been racing for nearly as long as you have, along the searing tracks of Miami with an effortless talent. Always finding a way to twist the situation into a witty joke and a laugh, they quickly establish themself as someone to trust among the chaos that is your new life as a top racer.
Backstory - N. grew up in Miami, under the legacy of their father, an elite racer from decades prior. From a young age, they were recognised in races for their family name and its power and prowess in the racing world. They struggled to create their own identity, eventually being labelled "Spade the Blade" for their creative tactics for cutting through groups of cars at a time.
Appearance - Dirty blonde hair cut at their neck in beach waves, chestnut brown eyes, freckles, smile lines, lopsided, charming grin, tan skin, 5'8. They wear a lot of graphic tees and have a habit of collecting bracelets for their wrists, with a generally vibrant palatte underneath their leather jackets for motor biking.
Romance Route - Friends to lovers, with a little "just friends" thrown in. Win races side by side, strategise, and plan with a little distraction on the side. Mutually pine for one another between circuits, and realise the importance of your other half not only for the team, but for you.

Sadie/Spencer Monroe [RO, gender selectable] - Your head engineer, a failed aspiring racer with a silent but deadly disposition. S designed your car from the wheels up, with one goal: to win. To win in a way they couldn't on the track themself, despite knowing everything there is to know about the sport. S has high expectations for you and N, and they're not one to disappoint.
Backstory - S. grew up in the countryside of New York, with one goal: to become the most legendary racer the URCA has ever known. With that in mind, they began racing circuits across the mid Atlantic, building and repairing their own cars and taking them into leagues they weren't welcome in because of their ultra-creative mechanic improvements. They quit soon after, turning their engineering talents to the benefit of more talented racers instead.
Appearance - Auburn hair at the base of their neck, hazel green eyes, a dusting of freckles, slender, pale skin, 5'9. They wear a brown bomber jacket over a lot of their clothes, a lot of flannel and warm tones.
Romance Route - Forbidden love. S. is an engineer, ensuring your cars are running exactly as they should, pushing them to their limits with speed and control. Their job is entirely behind the scenes, almost no one knows they exist, and they prefer it that way. You're a racer. The worlds eyes are on you. When you both face your growing feelings, you're forced to keep them away from the rest of the world and hide your romance.

WIBTA for reporting my neighbours for running a hack shop mechanic operation? [Long post, sorry!]
I live in a somewhat "bad" area. I really don't mean to judge people for who they are or what they do with their lives, but living here isn't pleasant. Unfortunately, the price divide between the "two sides" of my area is steep. You go from $60,000 houses to $400,000 houses with no middle ground, so moving isn't really an option unless I want to just change where I am in the "bad" side.
I live on a straight stretch of road, houses on one side of it, a wall on the other. This is relevant to the story. Its not a very long straight, but its straight, with two blind corners on either end.
Now, onto my neighbours. They're not good people. They deal and use drugs, there seems to be an endless supply of people moving in and out with them, they have uncontrolled and aggressive dogs that have caused issues in the area, they're known for fighting at maximum volume on the streets at 4am, they ride loud illegal (and stolen) bikes up and down the street at dangerous speeds and other things.
(With the latter, they've already caused two accidents, almost caused a lot more, and have already killed two animals by hitting them as they race up and down the street.)
Their latest thing, for the last year or so, seems to be running some kind of illegal workshop on bikes and vans right outside their house. At all hours. I've been woken up at 11pm and 4am before by insanely loud engine revving, and when I've looked out of the window they're on the street with torches, elbow-deep in engines.
This is a daily thing. And the engine revving seems to be a constant part of it. Even with my windows closed, I had to call off a work meeting once because it was so loud my team couldn't even hear me talking properly.
At least twice a day they have a van or motorcycle, sometimes more than one, that they're working on. They'll rev it a ton, rummage around, speed it up and down the street, then the cycle begins again the next day. Multiple people in my area have complained to them, but all they do is tell you to fuck off or threaten to beat you up.
Now the noise and the dangerous driving is one thing, but I'm also extremely dubious about the quality and safety of their so-called repairs. None of them seem to have any actual training in mechanics or how to properly fix what could be a legitimately dangerous issue in a vehicle.
If you know anything about vehicles you know that something "fixed" improperly can be deadly. If something fails in a vehicle when you're doing high speeds on the freeway, you can not only take your own life but possibly those of others, too.
And my neighbours do not seem like the kind of people who care about that.
I've seen them using duct-tape to fix up a motorcycle once.
Now normally, I've just turned a blind eye to anything happening in my area. The people who have been relocated due to their behavior have just been replaced by people equally as bad, if not worse, so I've learned to just stay in my lane, save my money and hope I can leave one day.
However this... Seems like something I should speak up about. I can respect a hustle and a little under the table income, but I cannot respect risking people's lives for some quick cash. Nor can I respect the fact that it triples the dangerous driving and dangerous people in the area.
So... My question is would I be an asshole if I at least tried to get the police to do something about this? Or, is it even worth it? Can anything be done about an unlicensed mechanics operation?

Okay, but, How expensive can they make a sewing machine?
So, if we start out with a "cheap" machine, what happens when we go up in price.

Welcome to the Brother CS4000. It's a computerized machine and usually runs at like $130 right now. It does all kinds of cool things! The only thing that it doesn't do is last very long.
Well, here's what happens if you take it apart and take out all the circuit boards:

No, there's no missing central component.
If you've never taken a sewing machine apart, this might not look wrong, so let me explain.

This is a Singer Izek, and the same machine with the plastic outer casing removed. Inside, there's a metal frame that all the components are attached to.
See, most modern sewing machines are plastic on the outside, but the plastic is just a cover. The insides have a frame, and the mechanism can function without the shell at all.
That Brother up there doesn't have a frame at all. Everything that should bolt to the frame is just attached to the plastic housing. This is a problem for a lot of reasons. Notably, if the machine is being held up by flexible plastic, then there's no way for the machine to be consistent and precise. Also, the plastic shell serves as a protection, like a bike helmet for your sewing machine. When the components are attached to the outside, your machine becomes very fragile, because hitting or tapping the outside of the machine is the same as hitting or tapping the inside. This is why we don't allow newborn babies to ride bicycles, btw.
Even in a metal-frame machine, there's going to be plastic parts. Putting plastic parts in a sewing machine makes it quieter, more portable, and cuts down on maintenance. People don't fucking do the maintenance anyway, so finding ways to reduce it is going to help the machine run well longer.
Unfortunately, most machines are sold in boxes, where the person selecting the machine has to make a choice by reading the outside of the box. This means things like "This machine has 4672 stitches!" looks good and "this machine has 12 stitches but its brain is not basically exposed to the elements," doesn't. Any description of superiority that requires a human to explain it instead of a catchy tagline just isn't going to sell.
So, when you're looking at the Brother CS 4000 and the Baby Lock Zest, they're about the same price. The Zest has like 12(?)ish stitches, half of which are double-action (the same stitch but it goes forwardbacky instead of just forward) and no width control, and the CS 4000 has more technology in it than we took on the first manned trip to the moon, you might ask why they're the same price. Well, in the Zest, they cut down the features like easy bobbin setting, number of stitches, complexity of internal cams, and other features that you get in higher end machines.
In the CS 4000, they just got rid of...you know...the insides. The. The important parts. Imagine a car where there's no chassis and they just glued the engine to the underside of your hood.
Not all plastic machines are the same.
Anyhow, since I'm possibly unique in the world of budget lolita sewing blogs to be able to make a post about the most expensive sewing machines possible, I'm willing to try to undertake that expedition. Stay posted.

The French Grand Prix came by way too fast. 
You spent the weeks in-between burying yourself in work and sim racing to take your mind off that night with Logan. 
How could he have been so caring and loving and then a few hours later be a completely different person? 
Then again you’d basically wanted to flee his room the second you’d woken up. 
Maybe you’d sent the wrong signal. 
Maybe you should have just stayed in his arms and given in to the comforting feeling he evoked inside of you. But you knew that you couldn’t. 
A relationship with another driver would be under constant scrutiny and criticism by the public.
Even though you felt Logan’s gaze on you on multiple occasions while walking through the paddock and giving interviews, you did your best to ignore and avoid him. 
Thankfully Dennis had understood pretty fast that Logan was not a fun topic for you to talk about so the Norwegian didn’t bring him up anymore and even shielded you off from Logan whenever you needed to hide from the Carlin driver behind Dennis’ back. 
Only at the race start did it get tricky to avoid Logan: you were starting in the same row as him on the grid. 
Naturally you were nervous when you walked to your car on the grid, already spotting Logan’s blue race suit in the crowd of mechanics and engineers. 
When you reached your car, you turned your back to Logan, hoping he hadn’t noticed you yet. 
Slowly you pulled your race suit up all the way, forcing yourself to put your whole focus on the race lying ahead of you.
While waiting for the race to start, you engaged into conversations with your engineer and manager to seem as busy as possible, but your tactic didn’t work for long. 
“Y/n!”, he called out and you could hear his steps behind you. 
You took a deep breath, bracing yourself for the interaction with Logan before you turned around, trying to smile like you weren’t still thinking about his fingers inside of you. 
“Hey.”, he smiled at you, and you hated your heart for liking his stupid smile so much.
“Hey.”, you replied, not necessarily wanting to engage in a conversation with him. 
“So uh…you nervous?”, he looked at you so innocently… the complete opposite of how he’d stared at you when he’d towered above you. 
Get your thoughts straight!
You shook your head slightly, cursing yourself for still thinking of that night.
“Listen…. I can’t do this. Not now, not here, not ever.”, you suddenly burst out, avoiding looking into his eyes. 
“What do you mean?”, he furrowed his brows. 
“This!”, you gestured between the two of you, a trace of desperation in your voice. 
“You’ve made it pretty clear that this was a one time thing and I’m totally okay with that, but…I can’t pretend like that night meant nothing to me either. So… I think it’s best if we put some distance between us for a while.”, you poured out your heart, being careful not to draw the attention of the cameras to you and Logan. 
“But y/n, I-“
“Logan! We need you here, mate!”, someone called behind him, interrupting him. 
He checked over his shoulder to see that his race engineer was calling him.
“Look, I know we had fun together, but I can forget about this if you can.”, you offered, shrugging at his helpless look. 
He opened his mouth to say something, but then his shoulders slumped in defeat. 
“Okay, whatever..”, he turned around and walked away without looking at you again. What the hell was that? 
Was Logan seriously pissed at you for not wanting to get your feelings hurt? 
You rolled your eyes: You definitely had to forget about him. Quick!
When you sat in your car, waiting to push down on the throttle, you allowed yourself a short glance over to where Logan sat in the car next to you. 
His gaze was set on the lights ahead of you, completely focussed on the race now. You closed your eyes, gathering your thoughts. 
If he could move on like that, you could, too. 
“I’ll see you when I overtake you..”, you whispered to yourself, not wanting to break Logan’s and your tradition. 
As soon as the lights turned off, adrenaline rushed through your body, heightening your senses. 
You pushed into the first corner, keeping an eye out for your opponents behind and in front of you, and managed to slip in front of Logan. “Pourchaire point 4 seconds in front, keep pushing. Pace is good.”, you got the information from your race engineer and banned Logan from your mind, but that didn’t last for long, because soon enough the blue Carlin car was back in your mirrors. 
“Sargeant gaining: gap now point 2 seconds, go defend.”
You didn’t have to be told twice: There was no way in hell you would let him pass. 
So you defended your position, shutting the door on him more than once in the first few laps. Somehow you managed to stay ahead of him on the DRS straight, but soon enough he was attacking again: this time more aggressive, leaving less space between the two of your cars. 
It annoyed you to say the least. 
When he finally got past you, you cursed into the radio. 
“Keep your head down, still a long way to go.”, your race engineer instructed, directing your focus on Doohan, who now crept up behind you.
A few laps later you got the chance to overtake Logan again, because you’d managed your tyres better than Logan had and he was losing pace. 
You knew the move would be risky, going around on the outside in a particularly steep corner, but you only had one more lap of the race left to overtake. 
Your heart beat fast when you pulled out behind him and pushed down on the throttle, watching him through your mirrors. 
It almost worked perfectly: you went for the overtake and were about to cheer about gaining the position. 
And that’s when it happened: Logan steered towards the outside line, wanting to shut the door on you. 
But he’d miscalculated. 
Your car was already too far in front, so your inner rear tyre got catapulted over his front tyre.
You couldn’t fathom the situation as you felt the rear end of the car lift off the ground. 
Time seemed to have stopped. 
It appeared to you as if the accident was happening in slow-motion: you saw that Logan somehow managed to keep his car on the track, then you realized you had to let go of your steering wheel to prevent any hand injuries. 
And suddenly everything happened within the blink of an eye: time resumed. 
Your car landed back down on the ground, sliding sideways over the track and directly towards a barrier. 
With fear in your eyes, you prayed you’d be okay when you saw the barrier coming closer at a sickening speed. 
You closed your eyes, bracing yourself for whatever was about to come.
Then came the impact: Your head got flung to the left and right, hitting your chassis harshly. 
When you opened your eyes again, all you could see was dust and a piece of the broken barrier you’d crashed into on top of your halo. 
You groaned, trying to comprehend what had happened. 
Your head felt like a hoard of elephants had trampled all over it. 
“Y/n? Are you ok?”, only then did you realize someone was speaking to you. 
“Please confirm, are you ok?”, the worried voice repeated. 
It was your race engineer. 
“Yeah….I’m ok. Hit.…my head…”, you replied, breathing heavily. 
Then suddenly the barrier was lifted off of your halo, letting in some sunlight into your cockpit again. “Y/n!”, someone screamed at you, the voice sounded familiar. 
“Y/n! Are you okay? Please say something! Y/n!”, panic filled the voice. 
Slowly you managed to tilt your head slightly upwards to look at the person standing in front of your car.  
“Logan…”, you groaned lowly, your voice weak.
He reached down into your cockpit to free you of your seatbelts. 
“Y/n!”, he shouted again, but it sounded blurry, like he was far, far away. 
Your eyes fell closed again from the exhaustion.
“Hurry! She needs help!”, Logan turned his head away from you to scream at someone else. 
“Help her!”, he exclaimed, fear and desperation in his voice now. 
Moments later there were multiple voices around you, all talking nervously, some of them speaking to you, but you couldn’t comprehend what they were saying. 
All you could do was try and keep your eyes open, willing yourself to stay strong now.
Then suddenly hands reached into the car to help you climb out. 
Still feeling a bit wobbly, you were thankful for the help. 
You needed to get out of this car and show your team that you were okay. 
When your feet touched the ground, it was the weirdest feeling: like it was your first time standing on solid ground. 
The voices around you were still talking frantically, you could hear people clapping somewhere in the distance and the commentator saying something in French. 
An arm wrapped around your waist firmly and your arm was slung around someone’s shoulder to support you as you walked to the ambulance that was already waiting for you. 
When you turned to look at the person, you frowned. 
“Logan?”
You could still see the fear in his eyes. 
“Everything’s going to be okay. I promise.”, he whispered, slowly guiding you across the track. 
“The race..”, your voice sounded dry and hoarse.
“It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are okay. I’m so sorry, y/n.”
Later, when everyone knew that you would be okay and that you were on the way to the hospital for some checkups, Logan still had to give his interview for F2, which he wasn’t particularly looking forward to. 
Because he knew what their questions were going to be about. 
But he didn’t want to relive the crash.
 Not now, not ever again.
 It had been one of the worst experiences of his life: the fear of losing you, those moments when he saw you sitting in your car, not moving. 
“Logan, hi. What a day it’s been. The crash with y/n was a close one, but thankfully both of you could walk away without any serious injuries.”
Logan only nodded, his muscles tensing at your name falling from the interviewer’s mouth. 
“Tell us, Logan, you could have continued the race since your car didn’t take any damage, but you chose to help y/n instead. What was going through your mind at that time?”
Logan’s jaw clenched and he took a deep breath to come off as composed as possible. 
“To be honest, the second I saw her crash into the barrier I didn’t really care about my race anymore. In moments like these where someone’s in danger, scoring points becomes irrelevant. I’m just glad she’s okay and I’m so sorry to my team and to Prema of course.”, he answered, thankful for the media training he’d had. 
“As we’ve seen in the past few races of the season, you and y/n have gotten along particularly well… do you think this crash will have any effects on the relationship the two of you have built?”
What a shitty question. 
Logan wanted to throw his microphone at the interviewer’s head. 
Somehow he managed to refrain from it, instead gripping the microphone tighter. 
“Accidents can happen in motorsport, it’s a dangerous sport. But I know this crash was my fault and of course I take full responsibility for what happened. I can only hope y/n can forgive me.”
“Thank you, Logan. We wish y/n a speedy recovery and hope to see her in the paddock again come the next race.”
Logan put on a fake smile, like he’d actually enjoyed the interview, but all he wanted to do was throw up. 
He felt sick to his stomach when he returned to the Carlin garage. 
The crash was his fault. Solely his fault. 
And the worst part about it was that he could have continued the race. 
He could have kept racing without even the slightest injury or damage. 
But you were in the hospital because of his mistake, his fuck-up.

“There she is, y/n y/l/n, finally returning for her first race after the horrific crash at Paul Ricard! Y/n, how are you feeling today? Excited to get back into the car?”, the interviewer was standing in front of you on the race track, next to where your car was being set up for the upcoming race in Spa. 
Well, how did you feel? 
Nervous, hella anxious, but also more than excited to feel the adrenaline rush of racing again. 
However, you legs still felt shaky whenever you thought of the crash. 
You smiled into the camera and tried to come across as confident as possible. 
“I’m feeling more than ready to get back into the fight for points. I’ve used this past month to focus on myself entirely, on getting fitter each day to come back stronger than before. So now I’m really looking forward to racing again.”, even though you knew half of what you’d just said was a lie, you still said it with so much conviction that everyone would have to believe you. 
“Thank you very much, good luck out there!”, the reporter left you alone again and you felt yourself relaxing as the cameras moved further away from you. 
“Hey.”, someone suddenly tapped your shoulder from behind. 
Immediately you tensed back up again. 
“Logan….hi..”, you didn’t know what to say. 
He hadn’t talked to you since the crash in France and you’d been way too busy with recovering to spare him a thought. However, the countless apology cards he’d sent you didn’t go unnoticed either. 
He looked at you with such an intensity that your stomach filled with butterflies instantly.
“Can we talk?”, he checked around himself to make sure no camera was pointed at the two of you. 
Your gaze went to the track to avoid him. 
“Logan…now is really not the time, I-“
“When is it then? You never talk to me anymore!”, he cut you off almost immediately, desperate for answers. 
If the two of you weren’t public figures he probably would have raised his voice by now, but years of media training helped him keep his voice low. 
“I just…..”, you looked up again and tried to defend yourself, but the words got caught in your throat. Fuck. 
If you’d thought you were over him, you were just proven wrong. 
You still wanted him. 
“Talk to me, y/n, please…”, Logan almost whispered, his eyes pleading you to finally open up. 
You checked again if any cameras were lurking. 
“It hurt… you know?”, you got lost in his eyes once again.
Logan pulled his eyebrows together in a frown. 
“It hurt: You asking me to forget that… that night.. ever happened.”, you elaborated and watched his eyes go wide. 
Then he let his head fall back, facepalming himself. 
“I’m such a fucking idiot.”, he groaned, before he looked back down at you. 
“Y/n….I…What I said back then was complete bullshit.”
You tilted your head at him in confusion. 
“Yeah… I doubt that. You were pretty clear on the pretending-this-never-happened part.”, you closed your eyes at the painful memory, but only until his hand came under your chin to tilt it upwards. 
“Y/n, listen to me when I tell you that that was the dumbest thing I’ve ever said in my whole life.”
You gulped, not knowing what to say. 
Was this heading in the direction you hoped it would? 
“I…I know you said you can forget about that night, but I….can’t.”, he trailed off, his eyes involuntarily wandering to your lips. 
Both of you were now breathing heavy. 
“I only said that because I didn’t want to get hurt.”, you confessed, whispering because you suddenly realized how close his face was to yours. 
A voice in the back of your head warned you to check for cameras again, but all you could focus on was the way Logan looked at you. 
Like he wanted you just as desperately as you wanted him.
“I want to kiss you so badly right now..”, he whispered back, swallowing as he realized what he’d just said. 
You scanned his face: His lips, his dimples, his eyes, his nose, his brows. 
This is what you wanted: Him. 
So you decided not to think too much about it and finally take action. 
Without saying another word your hands pulled him down to connect your lips, taking him by surprise. 
It only took him a quick second before he sunk into the kiss though. 
He let go of your chin to wrap his arms around your waist tightly while his tongue softly entered your mouth. 
You held onto him even tighter if possible and pressed yourself against his chest. 
This was it, you were so sure of it: the feeling of letting yourself fall in love. 
When you tugged on his hair slightly he groaned and you could feel him smiling against your lips. 
It was only until you heard loud cheering noises around you that you realized Logan and you weren’t the only two people on this planet. 
As soon as the two of you broke up the kiss, a dozen cameras were swarming you. 
“Did everybody see that or am I hallucinating? Y/n Y/l/n and Logan Sargeant have just kissed on the track. I repeat: they have kissed on track, in front of everyone!”, the reporter almost shouted into her microphone, making sure absolutely everyone knew what had just happened. 
You could only laugh in relief as Logan confidently grinned and wrapped an arm around you. 
One look to the stands told you you weren’t the only one who was happy about the kiss. 
Fans were standing up everywhere and cheering you on. 
“Well….looks like we’ve just gone public.. on our first day of dating…”, you joked and Logan smirked, squeezing your waist. 
He bent down to whisper into your ear.
“Doesn’t mean I haven’t been in love with you for months now..”, he enjoyed watching your face go red within seconds. 
Once again, you completely forgot about the cameras around you. 
“Seriously, y/n. I’m so sorry for everything I put you through only because I was too stupid to realize how much you meant to me..”, he added in a low voice so that nobody else could hear him but you. 
“I’m sorry, too, Logan. For saying all those things even though they weren’t true.”, you replied in the same soft voice, causing a smile to creep onto his face. 
“I’ll forgive you if you forgive me, deal?”
You began smiling again. 
“Deal.”

How TF2 mercs enjoy pool days:
Ok, so this may be based on my own beliefs on what they would do during a pool day, but screw it. I want you to think of a scenario. All the mercenaries finally decide to go on a summer break to a nice hot area [Orlando, Cancun, whatever you like.] however, they didn't exactly read the website correctly, and instead of getting into a resort with a public pool, they end up getting a personal pool with their resort house. This will include Ms. Pauling because yes.
Scout:
-Immediately jumps into the pool, clothes and all.
-Says he played an 'Epic prank' on Medic by putting Ms Pauling's bikinis in his bag instead of his swimming trunks.
-Hits everyone with pool noodles for hours, apart from Spy. He can never find Spy.
-Planned a sick joke with Sniper to push Medic into the pool. [More on that later]
Soldier:
-Has to be stopped from covering himself in honey before jumping into the pool. [For the sake of that poor water filter]
-Also hits multiple people with a pool noodle and ends up sword fighting with Scout.
-Tries to take bites out of the pool noodles, as well as all the other foam items he can get his hands on.
-Refuses to take off helmet despite being halfway underwater.
Engineer:
-Stays on the sides, will occasionally jump in as long as his mechanical arm is wrapped up tight. [Water damage, yknow?]
-Adores how Pyro has so many different toys to play with by the pool, often watches over them as they play with them.
-Only one who takes photos
-Made a little beach themed watercooler near the hot tub to fill with alcohol and drinks.
Demoman:
-Ends up making personal drinks for everyone, a bartender at the hot tub.
-Absolutely destroys his skin by not wearing sunscreen, ends up walking away fried.
-Somehow sets fire to the water in the pool.
-Falls asleep in the pool at multiple points in time, sometimes face down. [Soldier flips him over, can't let him drown]
Heavy:
-Basically the lifeguard in all this chaos, wondering how the pool is simultaneously on fire and freezing. [It's Demoman and Sniper's fault]
-When he jumps in, it becomes a goddamn wave pool, and I'm talking about the ones that could drown people.
-He normally hangs out in the hot tub beside the pool, not normally going in unless it's important.
-Wants to chat to Medic, but he can never find him near the pool. Talks to Spy instead.
Sniper:
-Hangs around the deep end of the pool, hanging off the edges like spooder man.
-Never knows where Medic is during the morning and afternoons, so he decided to help Scout with a prank so he could figure out what's going on with him.
-Normally has a soft drink during the slow pool hours when everybody is relaxed.
-Threw ice into the pool when it lighted up. It did nothing.
-Like Soldier, still wears his hat despite being up to his neck in water.
Pyro:
-Refuses to even touch the water. The only time they jumped in is when the water was set alight. Loved every second of it.
-Has many water-safe unicorn toys and rubber ducks by the side of the pool to play with instead of actually going in the water.
-Keeps the mask on. Cmon, what did you expect?
-Can and will sit in the sun for the entire day if possible.
Spy:
-Stays cloaked whenever Scout comes around the pool with his pool noodle.
-When he does decide to get in the pool, the ashes of his cigarettes get in the water. Yuck.
-Wears only the finest of wool woven swimwear shorts. [That's a lie. They're silk too.]

Medic:
-Physically does not know how to swim. Packed Ms. Pauling's bikinis instead of his own swim gear, so he didn't have to. Scout found out and pretended that it was his doing.
-Doesn't like the loud noises of the day, so usually comes out in the evening, dangling his legs into the water of the deep end.
-Comes out in full uniform like a weirdo. I'm talking about the lab coat, the white cardigan, the white shirt, the red rubber gloves, the baggy rouge/brown trousers, the black boots, all of it.
-Got pushed into the deep end by both Scout and Sniper. Started drowning, and eventually Spy found him and pulled him out.
Ms. Pauling:
-Sits by the side of the pool, usually with a martini or a cold drink.
-Got confused when she found her swimming costume inside Medic's suitcase.
-Usually dives into the pool with grace... with her glasses still on. Refuses to also take them off, due to the fact that she won't be able to see without them. [Excuses, excuses.]
-Will normally get a call from the Administrator. Everyone goes silent when this happens, due to the fact that they're supposed to be working.
Yeah, I think that turned out pretty well, but these are just headcannons. Agree if you want, but you don't have to.

What's the relationship between CMWGE, Nobilis, and Glitch? The bits of understanding I think I've picked up so far are that they're all (diceless?) ttrpgs and are in vaguely the same setting but at least one's setting is an AU of another one's? They sound really cool, but really confusing, but really cool despite and/or because of the really confusing, and continuing to just pick up the random bits that tumbl my way is Not Enough. Help?
Okay!
Let's talk a bit about publishing for background
In 1999, Jenna Moran (formerly R. Sean Borgstrom) published the first edition of Nobilis through Pharos Press, resulting in what is often called the "Little Pink Book". This was a small run, and it proved successful/interesting enough to get picked up by Hogshead Publishing in 2002, resulting in the second edition of Nobilis, which is often called the "Great White Book". This is the one a lot of people think about when they think "Nobilis", and really put it on the map in the tabletop gamer consciousness. In 2011, the third edition of Nobilis was released through EOS Press. There was a lot of drama involving the publishers and distributors for the last two editions but that's not relevant to your question. Also, a fourth edition is in the works.
Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine (CMWGE) was released in 2015 after a successful kickstarter, initially through EOS Press and then through Jenna's own efforts and the support of a generous benefactor due to her separating from EOS for some of the aforementioned publisher drama. Its technically a multimedia project that also has two associated novels, The Fable of the Swan (2012) and The Night-Bird's Feather (2022).
Finally, Glitch: A Story of the Not was self published in 2022 after another successful kickstarter. This is the most recent of her games within the collective game line, sometimes referred to as "gluubilis" or "the Ash Tree Engine".
Why'd you tell me all that?
So you'd have context for this.
Mechanically, each of these games represents a development on the preceeding works; every later game iterates and develops on the previous games and concepts. This looks something like this
1e/2e Nobilis > 3e Nobilis > CMWGE > Glitch/4e
in terms of major mechanical divisions and advancements.
All the systems are diceless and there's a lot we could say here, but probably the biggest single innovation would be the introduction of Arcs and Quests starting in CMWGE, providing a strong narrative xp framework for all the future games to engage with and be built around.
In terms of the setting, all the games except CMWGE take place on the Ash-Tree Earth in which the universe is a big tree in a cup of fire that's presently at war with the forces of the Void. Nobilis explores play as the Nobilis, individuals empowered by the rulers of Creation to defend it against the Excrucians, the representatives of the Void. Glitch flips this around and has you play as one of those Void beings who used to fight in the war, but is now abstaining from it for any number of reasons.
CMWGE takes place in a world that was drowned in a sort of ontological uncertainty called the Outside. It's set in a possible future where the war of Nobilis and Glitch doesn't reach a conclusive end, but rather the world was cast into an interregnum during which any number of things are possible and also you can have slice of life adventures and shit. None of that background is actually necessary to know to play CMWGE, but I think it's enriching and also it'll help explain some of the various otherwise insane things we the players and fans will say about it. Again, though, nothing actually like. Holds you to that if you wanna do something of your own. CMWGE is notable for being the most customizable of these systems by far.
What's next?
A couple recommendations!
First, I'd recommend reading some of these games! Glitch and Nobilis 3e are imo the most accessible of the game books + they're ones still in use, but CMWGE is also absolutely worth checking out; just be aware that it's handing you a toolbox, so there's a lot more big chunks of mechanics to work through. Honestly, don't be afraid to skip around these books and look at whatever catches your interest. They're very rewarding reads! If you want to read fiction, The Fable of the Swan and The Night-Bird's Feather are both also really good starting points.
Next, talk with people about them! The scene is kinda scattered, but you can still find people on tumblr, Twitter, and cohost at the very least who're talking about this stuff. There's also an official discord and an older fan discord (you can ask me for an invite to that one) where people are pretty active.
Also, just, try playing the games! A lot of the apparent complications are a lot easier to parse and understand when you actually see them in play, and they're fun games.
Finally, don't be afraid to keep asking questions! Given the chance, a lot of us won't shut up about these games, myself included.

a/n: I'm utterly in love with this idea, even thought i'm not 100% satisfied with how it came out BUT marcus today got a win so i guess a little thing about him won’t hurt :))
“what the hell happened there”
there he was, marcus coming straight out of the car asking for some explanation to his race engineer. sprint race just finished and, even thought he managed to get in the top 8, he had some serious issues which almost costed him some big points for the standings. no matter how many times, how strong, in which moment he pressed the drs button: the wing never opened, and clearly that is a huge problem when drivers with a more competitive car are behind you with the possibility to use drs as well. it was an exhausting race and all he wanted was to understand what was wrong with his car, help if possible and then have a proper lunch.
"we don't know yet, y/n is talking to some mechanics to find out. they're in the garage." his race engineer told him, so he went in looking out for you.
you were pretty new to the team, but you proved yourself many times already, showing you were really good at solving problems. so the team trusted you enough to let you solve the puzzle alone, and they did well because you found the problem (or at least you supposed you did) before the race even finished, but it was a mechanical problem so nobody could really do anything until the car was off track.
marcus saw a mass of people and slowly got closer, trying to regain some energies and set his mind to the right place to deal with a serious problem
“hey, is any help needed here?” he cleared his throat before speaking, and all the people turned around to look at him. with all the movements, marcus could finally spot you, as you were covered by the crowd before, and gave you a bright smile which you shyly returned. you were always so kind to everybody that he almost forgot he was there because his car stopped working properly.
“oh no. y/n just told us what was wrong, it’ll be as new for the race tomorrow, don’t worry. she was really fast, you did an amazing job” the chief mechanic stated first towards the driver and then directly at the engineer. after that, he signalled the crew to get to work, leaving you and the young man alone.
“a fast engineer for a fast driver, uhm?” marcus joked making you giggle. you eyed him from where you were collecting your things: he was still wearing the suit but it was hanging by the hips leaving him with the fireproof shirt, and considering how athletic he looked, it was a pretty distracting view, but you were a serious worker and tried not to let your eyes wander too much.
“i guess so. considering how well you performed today without drs, i’m sure tomorrow you’ll be even faster.” you said sweetly, ignoring how proud marcus felt of his job after your compliment.
“thank you, both for the compliment and all you did for the car. by the way, if you have a minute, would you mind explaining me what happened?”  it’s not like he didn’t care about it, but the main reason why he asked you was to keep the conversation going. he didn’t have this opportunity very often cause you were always pretty busy and technically you weren’t one of the engineers in strict contact with him.
“of course! come here, i’ll show you.” you happily invited him in the back of the garage where your workstation was. at the end of the day you loved your job and you were really excited when anybody asked you about it.
you opened the computer sitting on a chair, marcus standing behind you, extending an hand on the desk in order to bend a little and be closer, but in the action he bumped his shoulder against yours. he didn’t meant to, but he didn’t mind the contact. he could always put it on not hearing you properly, thanks to all the noise in garage, but you didn’t mention it nor moved so he let the touch linger a bit more.
“it was pretty difficult to understand what was wrong because from the data it looked like the drs opened. I supposed It could have been an hydraulic problem, but again, everything was okay. so I checked and I am convinced there’s a problem with the pivots on the wing, you know, the ones that effectively makes the mechanism works.”
fun stuff right? I don’t know, but don’t ask marcus, cause he definitely didn’t listen. or rather, he did listen, but was too focus on your face to actively understand the meaning of you words. you looked stunning, he was pretty sure the last time he thought something on earth could be this beautiful was the first time he saw a ferrari when he was a kid. seeing you in the same hitech uniform he had didn’t help, and don’t even get him started on how intelligent you must be to explain so easily all those engineering things, that was damn well attractive. oh- and the little joyful voice you had the whole time.
he was a weak man. he knew it and he wasn’t ashamed of it.
“so now they are fixing them.” you finished with a broad smile turning to look at him in the eyes, only to be met with a lip parted, clearly not focused marcus.
“they’re fixing it?” he repeated with big eyes finally out of his trance. “them-“ you corrected him with a giggle “but yeah, they are”
“cool, cool, cool.”  he seriously had no clue what you just told him. he was staring at you, same position of when you settled, which meant being close enough to Marcus to let him see a little blush creeping onto your cheeks. You weren’t used to having this little room between you and him.
“fast driver doesn’t understand engineering, does he?” was it a joke, a tease or an actual question? you didn’t even know, but it came out so naturally. after a series of small talks you had over time, you felt enough comfortable to say something like that to him.
and since you couldn’t tell if you were just being friendly or you were actually flirting, how could marcus know that? therefore he decided to shoot his shot. in the worst case scenario you would reject him, but you really were too kind to make him feel bad the slightest about it, so he just went for it.
“fast driver understand engineering when it isn’t such a pretty lady explaining it, your beauty is distracting.”
lucky you hitech was not in the ferrari garage, cause you would have blended perfectly with its shade. it’s not an everyday event that a driver, who also happened to be polite and have your same humour, compliment you like that. you were left speechless. and he found it extremely cute, just to add it to the list.
you stood there gasping, trying to think of a proper answer you could give him when a mechanic turned the angle, saw you and decided to stop to inform you.
and save you, but he didn’t know this.
“oh- hey guys, you’re still here. we fixed the car and yes, it was the pivots so y/n were right. drs will work perfectly tomorrow.” he left after getting a thanks and a wave from both of you.
“well… one problem’s gone. pretty lady and pretty driver having lunch together would check off another one from the list, what do you think?” you had no clue where you found the courage to say these words, but they eventually paid back when marcus started grinning.
“not too bad of a plan.” you both smiled “give me just five minutes to change out of this.” he indicated the suit, walking towards the driver’s room but hitting a column in the way, apologizing to it like it was a person, which made a genuine laugh leave your lips.
when he came back, you just finished putting your stuff away. he pointed at the door to let you go first, following you behind kvelling out of every pore to finally have a lunch with you
after all you had a pretty good day at the office.

Crews? Homebase? Headquarters?
Been thinking a lot about Crews in Blades/Forged in the Dark, and how I want to play with those ideas in Furry Crime Game (sidenote: I really need to come up with an actual title for this game before that sticks permanently).
The general idea of Crews in Blades "exist to create a legacy that will last beyond the founding members" (p. 91, BitD). My personal view of Blades is that it has a lot in common with Darkest Dungeon - its just as much about the moment to moment, zoomed in character-play as it is (maybe even more so) about the zoomed out progression that happens through the Crew and the world around the players.
Characters in Blades are not designed to stick around for very long. Stress, harm, and trauma pile up very quickly. I fondly call the game a "meatgrinder" and I'm not joking! Unless you are the most cautious player, your PC is going to get shredded (and cautious play is just not nearly as fun in Blades, it is way better to embrace the meatgrinder experience and go for it).
So anyways, Crews stick around, forming your table's legacy, while your characters get turned into ground beef. Got it. But, in all my experiences of playing and running Forged in the Dark games (which, most of them adopt very similar "meatgrinder" experiences to Blades, everyone seems to care waaaaaaay more about the characters over the Crew. Its very easy to forget about the Crew, when you're focused on your cool little Crime Guy that you want to keep alive as long as possible, because little crime guys are fun.
Now, I like Crews! I think they're an interesting piece of design and fit very well into the whole engine of Blades in the Dark. But for the style of play I love (character focused vs legacy focused), they can feel a little too "board game-y" to engage with.
Compared to Blades, I'm planning on having PCs in Furry Crime Game being a bit more sturdy than their BitD counterparts, so the design space for a lasting "legacy" isn't as important. But! The idea of having this shared advancement, that progresses as the group of PCs also advance is fun.
So, where I'm at right now is some sort of headquarters/homebase that the PCs all share that gets upgraded and evolves over time (building on ideas from Blades' turf mechanics I think). Actually, I think whatever this HQ thing is going to turn into is going to involve folding a lot of Crew and turf tech into one thing. The hard part will be making it feel like a character that the table wont forget about lol.
I think tying some new downtime actions to the HQ is an interesting way to go. @temporalhiccup's Twilight Throne has some really fun downtime actions that are great at setting scenes and exploring character relationships. So, creating downtime actions (which who knows, could maybe be upgraded as you play) that take place specifically within the HQ and provides a framework for exploring the HQ as a "character" and also for exploring your character (and their relationships with the other characters), feels particularly fruitful.
Still a looooooong way to go on designing this game, I really need to finish Dark Confluence first, but I think it's gonna be very cool once its done!

I've been really into Team Fortress Two lately, and seeing as I cannot get the Actual Fic Writing to go, I wanted to do a little character analysis thing as a silly, so here's my favorite tf2 pairings and how i think they'd act:
Soldier x Spy / Freedom Fries
This ship is utter chaos and honestly I love it. There's a lot of light, passive-aggressive bullying (from Spy) and a lot more heavy, just plain aggressive bullying (from Soldier) and they may seem like they want to kill each other at points. However, neither one of the two will hesistate to mow down anyone who threatens the other.
Spy is stuffy with how he shows affection, especially when there's witnesses. Maybe he moves past him a little too closely and brushes his hand on Soldier's arm as he does. Maybe he hides a small smile as he rolls his eyes at what idiotic thing his partner says. Maybe he doesn't immediately call Soldier stupid to his face when he really really wants to, because he's trying so hard. These quiet attempts at passive affection are ruined by Soldier being the antithesis of subtle, in every way imaginable.
Going off of how Soldier is with Zhanna in the comics, I wouldn't say Soldier is the most verbally affectionate person, but his constant antics and comments and death-defying combat skills would certainly help to pry Spy out of his shell just a little bit. I also think that Spy would teach him how to do a few openings on his butterfly knife. Soldier would get the quickdraw down, and possibly the basic opening. Jury's out on anything more complex than that.
Engineer x Medic / Science Party
Evil mad scientist x Morally questionable tech genius. There is no universe where this ship is bad. Well... it can end badly for other people if their forces combine, but that's how it is.
Long, coffee-filled nights in the lab, each one taking turns to listen to their partner's incomprehensible speeches full of science jargon. They nod, half understanding as the other points to different blueprints or medical diagrams, explaining concepts far beyond their own paygrade, and only mostly hold themselves back from interjecting about their own project that would go wonderfully with this one.
The night Engineer finally starts crashing from exhaustion he goes down to where Medic is in the lab and asks when he's coming to bed. Medic, being Medic, says some shit like "Oh no I don't sleep, I removed that part of my hypothalimus years ago."
Engineer says "Alright darlin', see you tomorrow," before kissing him on the head, going to bed, and not worrying about what a hypothalimus is nor how Medic is even still alive at this point.
Does Engineer somehow dodge Medic's request to be some sor tof test subject? Maybe, but there's the even higher possibility that Medic was requested to assist with Engineer's mechanical hand.
Heavy x Medic / Red Oktoberfest
What is there to say that hasn't been said already, by authors far better than i?
Evil mad scientist x All-too-willing test subject that could also crush this scientist like a bug if he chose (but he doesn't. He doesn't, because he loves this doctor). No notes, 10/10, moving on.
Sniper x Spy / Bloody Suit
Also called Spyper, which is the best ship name ever made imo.
Same Spy characterization as before, but instead of the extreme of Soldier it's the general curmudgeony attitude of Sniper. There's also a lot of bullying in this one, probably more than there is with Freedom Fries because Sniper is also not passive aggresive, he just likes to pick on Spy to get a rise out of him, and Spy likes to pick on Sniper to get a rise out of him, and so on and so forth until something is broken and they're either aggresively arguing or aggresively making out. Who's to say.
There's so many possible ships and honestly? I haven't seen a single one I could automatically dismiss (other than Scout/Spy, but Scout & Spy as a familial relationship is good). I wanna do more of these as I find more ships I like, obviously I didn't even mention anything with Demo, Pyro, or Scout, and I barely mentioned Heavy, but what can I say I'm biased <3

After the rocket, we've got Link running an anti-gravity gauntlet. He moonjumps from platform to platform, arms flailing as he does so.
First, let's look at the location.

Between Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain in the background, we know that this is almost directly south of the volcano, right about

The platforms look to be chiseled out of Luminous stone, with activation runes along the corners and tech set into the top.

Then over here, you have those same gravity bubbles as earlier, meaning that either this is part of the same course, or the bubbles are a common mechanic to find in Skyrule.

This structure has a whole tower of isles that stretches higher into the sky than we can see. My guess is that somewhere up there, there's a new loading zone that's above even the isles we've seen.

Down here we have waterfalls which seem to abruptly cut off some how. They're colored like that because they're reflecting the sunset.

But that means that this up here is ALSO a waterfall.

All over the scene, we have blue sparks flickering around. Possibly what's causing the moon gravity?

We go to the Eldin dungeon, where Link fights a Zonai soldier construct in a minecart battle. He's wearing the same gear as the previous lava dungeon scene, down to the shield, so we can assume this is shortly after.

Link's cart has a fused engine to it. The construct's, however, does not; whatever's propelling it is naturally built in. Moreover, do you see the way the construct's cart is tilted upward, with no track behind it?

If we advance a few seconds later, we can see where this one came from.

The track seems to come out of nowhere in the darkness, cutting off well before Link's track does. So it's likely that on the minecarts, there'll be several small battles like this that fade in and out of range—your job is to either endure it, or to keep the opposing carts from tipping yours over.

In the mech scene, we see Link standing atop a fused contraption consisting of a cart, a block, and a gun.

Looking at the top and bottom, we can see multiple points of Ultrahand adhesive. So this-

-does not exist as a single box. It's multiple flat pieces glued together INTO a box, making this contraption have a grand total of 9 visible pieces, 11 if we assume a fourth wheel and fifth side to the box.
What's the limit on things you can put together with Ultrahand? IS there a limit? Can I theoretically string together 100 platforms to make a bridge from Akkala to Hebra?

The horizon contains Akkala region trees on one side, and pines on the other, with a waterfall down the center

We then have Link attaching a ruby to his arrow, with a fiery effect. However, we know from the gameplay demo that attaching chuchu jelly is already a thing. So what advantage does a ruby have over red chuchu jelly? It has to be substantial to convince the player to give up a gemstone.

We then go to this fancy contraption that's been set up in this Bokoblin camp; probably right before a Blood Moon. I say "set up" because if you look closely:

That is ALL Ultrahand. The amount of unique components this ability has at its disposal is, frankly, staggering.

How far away would planets catch things in orbit? I'm talking about things like if I had spaceships in space. But what if they're like not running any engines in deep space. If they're too close to a planet they'll be sort of moved around in orbit too right? What is say, I had a spaceship and they need to travel from Pluto to Neptune, can they like just sit near a point where the orbits match up and like sit there for years and just wait for Neptune to get there. As an example of course.
Tex: It would depend on the mass and velocity of all involved bodies, at minimum, in order to properly calculate gravitational pull and whether one body’s pull would be enough to capture another into orbit or at least some form of deceleration. Ultimately it depends on your plot and whether you want the spaceship to be placed there, but most likely there would be some degree of drift - give it enough time, and the spaceship will eventually be free of the standstill of competing gravitational pulls. Wootzel: You’re right that other objects in proximity--be they planets, stars, or bigger--will pull on a ship and change its trajectory. Larger objects will pull from further away. 
In order to conceptualize how things move around each other in outer space, you honestly have to change the entire way you think about motion. There is no single definition of “stationary” in space, because it’s all relative. Everything is expanding all the time, and most things orbit other things in some kind of way. The inertia of orbiting keeps an object from just getting pulled straight into the nearest object with enough mass. Due to the good ol force of inertia and a lack of enough friction to slow things down, a spaceship that’s not running any engines will not be stationary (relative to whatever system it’s in) unless it’s been intentionally slowed to a stop. It’ll just keep happily moving along whatever path it’s on until a force acts on it. In your example of getting from Pluto to Neptune, it’s possible that the strategy there is to have your in-story Space Math Scientists calculate a whole bunch of factors like the speed of travel and Neptune’s orbit, and then just aim the ship so that, moving at whatever speed is reasonable for it, can intersect Neptune’s orbit.
This may seem like a silly suggestion, but it might be useful to how you conceptualize travel in space to spend some time in a space travel simulator that has mechanics approximating real physics. The one that occurs to me to suggest is Kerbal Space Program because it’s the only one I personally know of that has the mechanics I’m talking about. I’m sure there are other games/sims out that that will let you play around with the way orbits influence space travel, and how they can be useful for getting where you’re going. NASA has done some missions where the craft they’re sending out slingshots around one object before heading out to whatever its end-goal is.
I don’t think any of us can give you estimates of how far away a planet or star could be and still move your spaceship around, especially without a lot more details, but looking into simulators (Universe Sandbox might be an option) or online calculators could probably help with that as well.
