After a while without uploading new things (taking advantage of the fact that we are still celebrating #MerMay and with the live-action version of The Little Mermaid about to be released) I share this pencil test tribute to Ariel, another Disney character I always wanted to animate, that she has just found a “snarfblatt” at the bottom of the sea.
It was a super interesting experience giving life to a character who is always moving fluidly and energetically underwater. Perhaps the most challenging thing has been keeping her shapes well drawn throughout the scene. I hope that, as with Simba, I have captured the essence of her.
This was an early Goldenloin test with his original long hair design. We were pushing for a more rock star / glam rock feel for him, and were considering Paul Rudd for the voice. So I did this test using the audio from I Love You, Man.
#spacejam2 is out and I’m proud to say I got to work on it- even for a brief time! It’s a Bucketlist experience for me to have worked on the #LooneyTune characters since I’m more of a #Disney guy! (I animated Wyle E Coyote for a commercial once but that’s it!) Thank you to animation director @spike.brandt ! This is an unused shot I animated as a test scene (this was during a game play sequence which was ultimately created in #cganimation by the great #animators at @ilmvfx it’s not fully inbetweened. Please scroll for my credit and some of the amazing animators I’m proud to have been listed next to- including my bro @pumbaaguy ! Go see this movie in theaters or buy #HBOMax ! Well worth it! (BTW- #bugsbunny is saying “Oh, but that ain’t what this is”) #spacejam2 #spacejamanewlegacy #2danimation #penciltest https://www.instagram.com/p/CRZkWGJljmZ/?utm_medium=tumblr
Been a LOOOOONG time since I have been on Tumblr. But this is why, I was busy supervising this doof for Klaus. Gonna post a bunch of my work from him on here so stay tuned!
Before starting animation production on Disenchanted I wanted to try and draw this Ed guy first. First shot is a first pass, it would need a good 2nd pass to adjust stuff. Second is a tiedown pass. The details are not accurate to the movie
There's not much to do at work except come up with ideas for animated logos, so I drew over Muybridge's trotting horse and came to the conclusion that I’d rather animate it in AfterEffects :-)
In any case, I’ll always grab an opportunity to animate in procreate
