He paused, and for a moment assumed again his air of a schoolmaster questioning a promising pupil: ‘How does one man assert his power over another, Winston?’ | Winston thought. ‘By making him suffer,’ he said. |
‘Exactly. By making him suffer. Obedience is not enough. Unless he is suffering, how can you be sure that he is obeying your will and not his own? | Power is in inflicting pain and humiliation. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing. | Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but MORE merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress towards more pain. | The old civilizations claimed that they were founded on love or justice. Ours is founded upon hatred. In our world there will be no emotions except fear, rage, triumph, and self-abasement. Everything else we shall destroy — everything. | Already we are breaking down the habits of thought which have survived from before the Revolution. We have cut the links between child and parent, and between man and man, and between man and woman. No one dares trust a wife or a child or a friend any longer. But in the future there will be no wives and no friends. | Children will be taken from their mothers at birth, as one takes eggs from a hen. The sex instinct will be eradicated. Procreation will be an annual formality like the renewal of a ration card. | We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now. There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of Big Brother. There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy. There will be no art, no literature, no science. | When we are omnipotent we shall have no more need of science. There will be no distinction between beauty and ugliness. There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. | But always — do not forget this, Winston — always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. | Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever.’ | George Orwell. Nineteen Eighty-Four (pp. 307-308)

Transformers (feel free to choose the series) Optimus Prime vs Megatron with a human darling romantic concept?????
Sure! I decided to keep this general :) Sorry if it's bad since I made it a general take.
Yandere! Optimus Prime vs Megatron
Human Darling - No Particular Version
Pairing: Romantic - Rivalry
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Dehumanization, Overprotective behavior, Violence, Kidnapping, Manipulation, Possessive behavior, Cybertronian/Human pairing, Dubious/Forced relationship, Sadism, Isolation.
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the Autobot and Decepticon leader fighting each other once again over something.
This is a good time to explain what I mean when I say Autobots and Decepticons lean towards a certain yandere type.
I always picture Yandere Autobots falling towards the overprotective attribute while Yandere Decepticons tend to display a more sadistic yandere type.
Optimus Prime and Megatron are very good examples of this.
Autobots tends to want to protect those they hold dear.
While Decepticons tend to take what they want.
This rule doesn't apply to everyone (For example, Pharma from the IDW comics is technically Autobot but has Decepticon traits due to working with them), yet it's a default many Cybertronians display.
Optimus Prime and Megatron, being leaders of their respective factions, would be the pinnacle of this.
Optimus Prime's goal with a human, especially if they were human, would be to protect them at all costs.
Autobots would get along with human darlings the most, Prime is no exception.
Optimus Prime already feels responsible for a team of Autobots, who that is depends on the version.
They are like his family.
A human darling would be kept very safe with him.
For this concept I'd say you'd most likely be a supporter of the Autobots.
Most humans are.
As a result you are the closest to Optimus Prime.
Prime has no idea how to display his affection to you that would br acceptable between humans and Cybertronians.
To be fair many Cybertronians don't.
As a result he settles for simple things like holding/carrying and words.
If he has a holoform in this that would be a good way to communicate too.
The biggest issue is his size when it comes to showing you he cares.
He loves you and it is romantic yet you wouldn't be able to tell unless he told you.
Optimus Prime is considerate of how a relationship with you would affect you and actually listens to you for the most part.
You are one of the people he cares for the most.
Optimus Prime's softer and more protective affection is different from Megatron's intense and destructive affection.
Being the leader of the Decepticons he is less willing to work with humans.
Megatron would see his human darling as a lesser being to him.
Optimus Prime talks to you like you're an equal, an ally who fights alongside him.
Megatron treats you like a pet even if he feels romantic attraction towards you.
He feels powerful when he holds you, he likes the sadistic pleasure your fear gives him.
He loves the feeling of you being his.
With Megatron the relationship leans more towards what Megatron wants than you.
You most likely met Optimus Prime by being saved by the Autobots.
You most likely met Megatron by an attack that the Autobots saved you from or you were kidnapped from the Autobots after meeting them.
The power struggle between the two factions now has a new reason to push.
Their leaders happen to like a particular human... and one of them will have you in the end.
Optimus Prime is the one you have a higher chance of having a "normal" relationship with.
As normal as having a romantic relationship with an overprotective Autobot can go, at least.
Megatron likes the idea of owning you, plus having you and making you fall for him can hurt Optimus.
Which is what Megatron wants more than anything.
The two would definitely fight brutally with each other over you.
However, it's primarily Megatron who aims to kill.
Megatron is easily the worst yandere of the two.
Even a "relationship" with him still makes you feel inferior.
The dynamic is one wants to genuinely provide for you, while the other wants to own you.
Autobots are never the most intense yanderes but Optimus Prime would do whatever he can to keep you with him and safe.
I can't think of him killing or brutally harming someone but he would isolate you.
Megatron would kill and brutally harm others to have you.
Decepticons do have the potential to harm others to have what they want.
Megatron would do this more than anyone to have you, even if you are an organic.
It's no doubt you'd benefit the most from Optimus Prime, yet Megatron will always be a threat trying to take you from the Prime.
Their fighting over you will persist about as long as it takes for the war to end or you expire.
Two titans of immense power fighting for their own desires.
All with you caught in the middle.
The moment you're in the hand of one, the other plucks you from them.
If the war ends and you're somehow alive, perhaps they will compromise?
It's unlikely but that would be one of the only chances you experience peace... if not with one of them dead.
A rivalry between Optimus and Megatron is about as destructive as you think.
The two already fight each other enough as is.
Until the war ends, you'll never know peace...
As long as they're both alive, they'll search for you.... Regardless of who wins you fear for your future.

When we talk about Ciri, we don't talk much about her own latent ability to see/predict the future, and what it could imply. It's Sunday morning; time for a tea cup theory sesh.
So, coming off Dune - a clear influence on some storylines and characters in the Witcher - could Ciri's capacity for prescience (foresight, prophecy, visions) have blocked her choices and actions from being accurately predicted and seen by someone like Avallac'h who - as an Aen Saevherne - otherwise has abilities almost identical to Kwisatz Haderach?
Was Ciri's escape from Tir ná Lia a certainty or a probability?
It's noted in Dune, how prescients are more or less blind to the movements of other figures with foresight, because people with oracular powers act on the information from the future and actively alter the future this way (disrupting the ability of other prescients to accurately predict the future). They stand "outside" the vision in lieu of an inherent ability to introduce variance in it.
A clairvoyant can't even necessarily see the definite future, but they can see Time so totally (the "when" is not a place), all its possibilities included, that they can create the future; matching, at that, with their goals. They are like ultra-heavy bodies in a field, warping it around themselves. However, if there are those standing outside of the vision, then dictating the future is not entirely possible, for there will always be unknown agentic elements that can turn the tides.
Ciri would be such an element in Avallac'h's and the prescient elves' prophecies and vision of time eternal.
I am pointing to this lore crossover, because let's face it, the Bene Gesserit and later Leto II's breeding programmes are exactly the kind of thing that was done in regard to Hen Ichaer, the Elder Blood, among elves. Breed prescient beings capable of seeing the past, present, and future (i.e. time total; the now) AND moving themselves in time and space (that's the Aen Saevherne) AND from time to time get a Chosen One for whom it's possible to open the Great Gate of Time (that's Lara's would-be child or Ciri's children). Secondly, Ciri, the child of destiny and hope, is so because of a kind of 'uncertainty field' that surrounds her -> she is, arguably, the most agentic, free will-questing character in the tale. The story ends up being about (ensuring) her ability to choose - to doom, to save, to act as she wills regardless of her parentage, powerful actors' manipulations, or the world's expectations.
(Sure, The Witcher is reeeeeaalllly loose with its causal structure (things go the way they go because magic aka "the will of the author, who plays within folklore tropes and story analogues", mostly); it has nothing on Dune in this regard. We can have a classical mechanics Ciri, a quantum-Ciri, or a magical/literary-Ciri. But the ambiguity allows for crossover-theories like this one, so that's fine by me.)
At Tir ná Lia, Ciri has visions of a future where things unfold without her interference: Yennefer drowns, Geralt freezes to death. It's not conscious foretelling, it's inherent to her thanks to her genes. Genes of elven Sages, who see past, present & future - total time.
Considering the aim of the Golden Path then, an analogy: one hypothetical result of the mutations introduced into Elder Blood via mixing human genes with elven ones results in Laplace's demons (Sages) creating a mutation in their own genotype down the road that even the demons themselves can no longer predict.
Making Ciri a Child of Hope in the sense of a truly free, indeterminant wild card, the nature of whom enables uncertainty in the outcomes of the fates of others connected to her choices. Because she herself remains elusive to actors who've a hand in tracing the blueprint of the universe, an act which in itself creates a future that cannot be avoided. The mutant Ciri is a genuine child surprise.
"A universe of surprises is what I pray for!" - Leto II
Analogously to Dune, where the end goal of the Golden Path is for humanity to be rendered undetectable by prescient beings and given a chance to survive by remaining outside of the constraints of a deterministic universe. By, what looks like, evolving a free will.

ROUND 2 / SIDE A / POLL 7
Tumblr media
Phenex (@thegreatyin) vs. Sylnae Nyrlithar (@slcknasty)
Phenex Info:
Description: Once upon a time there was a race of star demons in space. These star demons get a little silly with it. Unfortunately, "all star demons are inherently goofsters" statistic is actually false. Marquis Phenex, who is canonically the blorbo of the resident love god and is additionally covered in silly little feathers, is an outlier and should not be counted. Also he eats people to survive or something but y'know nobody's perfect!!!!!!
Crimes:
-Cannibalism (frequently) -Murder (even more frequently) -Lying -Outright manipulation -Impersonation -Priding himself on being an active threat to society -Plotting mysterious goals for 2 million years -Being friendly exes with an even more problematic girlboss despite her species mating for life -Being deeply sad about it all -Canonically eating weed -Having two floating heads (that are sentient masks) that she's named Maskieavellian and Maskyangelo -The masks are very much still part of her consciousness -Kinning Dimentio -Psychologically tormenting people as a form of cathartic revenge -Crippling body dysphoria -Being generally untrustworthy -Communism
Other notes from the submitter: do you think demons dream of magic sheep?
Sylnae Nyrlithar info:
Description: She's a girlboss, she's a war criminal, she's died and come back from the dead... Born in an incredibly unhealthy family situation, escaped, was meant to have a redemption arc and then just got *worse.* Joined up with a gang of equally fucked up adventurers to take down a megalomaniacal technology magnate whose solution to population control was to kill a bunch of people and *still* managed to lose the moral high ground. The party was so morally fucked that the "good ending" for the campaign would have been them all dying and the eldritch blood god we were trying to stop taking over the world. So good at lying she got away with some of the world's most ridiculous cover stories. Plays both the violin and chess for maximum manipulative villain tropes.
Crimes: Was part of a reactionary terrorist group that considered civilian casualities as an acceptable cost for getting their aims (taking out a well-loved public figure). Has killed multiple people to do so, and also helped cover up multiple murders. Had a contingency plan to murder all of her party members if necessary. Nearly got all of them killed during a heist so that she could fulfil a personal agenda she hadn't told anyone about. Found a cursed sentient dagger that told her it would grow in power if she killed people with it, went "sure, I can use this" and promptly did exactly that.
Other notes from the submitter: i am so ready to see a batch of terrible women beating the shit out of each other (in terms of popularity but also maybe in a fistfight) (sylnae would lose a fistfight)

“If power were never anything but repressive, if it never did anything but to say no, do you really think one would be brought to obey it? What makes power hold good, what makes it accepted, is simply the fact that it doesn’t only weigh on us as a force that says no, but that it traverses and produces things, it induces pleasure, forms knowledge, produces discourse. It needs to be considered as a productive network which runs through the whole social body, much more than a negative instance whose function is repression.”
(Foucault, 1980, p. 119)
Reminder that the very reasons that people will list out to deny that someone is abusive “They’re so nice!,” “They seem to take such good care of their partner/child/friend,” etc. are the very same qualities that make their continued perpetration of abuse possible.
The ultimate aim of abusers is not to inflict violence. Violence is one of many tools an abuser uses to acquire their actual goal, which is attaining and maintaining power and control over someone else. That cannot be achieved with violence alone.
Raw and constant violence without the presence of other tactics like love bombing, manipulation under the guise of care and kindness, fun, excitement, connection, etc. would not make for an effective abuser.
Situations of abuse are systems like any other, or they would not be as sustainable and difficult to escape as they are. Repression and violence inflicted on the victim is intimately intertwined with (manipulative) care and connection. They cannot be separated from one another.
Begin to understand abuse the way you understand how state violence functions. The instances that the State provides services like creating infrastructure, tending to parks, providing healthcare, etc. is NOT separable from its repressive violence via police, borders, and prisons.
Rather, the other things the State offers are the very ways that it gets enough people to submit to repressive violence. That, and it also works to isolate people from one another and their own agency so they cannot get their needs met any other way but to submit.
To survivors of abuse this is familiar. (The appearance of) positive connection and care in world where it is deeply difficult to find, active isolation from other connections that would meet our needs, and violence when we do not submit to control in a way they deem adequate.
https://twitter.com/butchanarchy/status/1418009829684039684
These are the repressive expressions of abuse (notice how accurately you can describe state violence with the same wheel). VITAL to understand, but it is equally important to understand that abuser’s behavior outside of this wheel is what makes their actions within it possible.
An abuser being kind to you or in front of you does not negate their actions as abusive any more than a cop being kind to you or in front of you does not negate their actions as State violence. In fact, it is your perception of them as such that allows them to be effective.
Tumblr media
[image ID: photo of Portland police kneeling with protestors on May 31, 2020 /end image ID]
Do you remember how many liberals took cops kneeling as an indication that they weren’t all bad, that they really meant well, that all that was needed was reform to the system? Those same cops gassed, arrested, and beat the shit out of people that very night.
The performance of care, understanding, and solidarity has been the tactic of the state for as long as it has existed. This is not because it is a tactic unique to statecraft, but rather a necessary tool in any kind of relationship defined by domination and control.
It is because those who seek to gain and maintain power and control over others (whether they are an abuser, the State, your boss, etc.) are well aware that they cannot keep their power by total force alone. They require some level of submission to and acceptance of it.
Btw the submission they require is not only that of those who are the targets of violence. Rather, it is the complicity of the bystanders (who also happen to be the ones who benefit most from their perceived kindness) that allow the violence of abuse and state violence to continue.

Seeing a few "crimson order returns" AUs on my feed so here is my version!
*throws down metal pipe on table*
So, the year is 2022 (yes this is going to be set slightly into the past.) The Crimson Order has pretty much faded away, ever since the main cult was obliterated. It's something most citizens of Grimsborough has forgotten about. They've moved on, and who can blame them? What with the whole Ad Astra shenanigans that have happened since then, the cult has become kind of old news.
There is a new GPD. One of these new-ish members is the Inspector, Morgan Halley. He's trusted. He works alongside the new homicide detective, Bronwyn Viere, as is his job. Nobody knows about his past.
[CW for under the cut: mentions of attempted SA, abusive relationships, manipulation and cult stuff]
But three people do. Three university students do. Marianne Halley, Rayne Averill and Ezra Lark. They've lived with the pain he's caused them, terrified to tell anyone about their experiences. Marianne doesn't tell people about how Morgan manipulated her into abandoning all her friends and then left her stranded and alone. Rayne doesn't tell anyone about how Morgan drugged them when they were 18 and tried to put his hands on them. And Ezra certainly doesn't tell anyone about the horrific shit he went through when he dated Morgan.
But now, knowing that Morgan is in a position of power and how nobody apart from them knows about who he actually is, the trio are tired of all the secrets and pain they've gone through. So they do a little digging into Grimsborough's history. They discover the Crimson Order. They decide to remake it in their own image, an organisation that is Totally Not A Cult where they aim to recruit other "lost souls" like them and get them to partake in their final goal - creating a "better world," where all "misdeeds" are punished and everybody lives in "harmony."
Naturally, this would involve completely destroying Morgan's life, but how would they do that? Slowly destroy his reputation with rumours and cleverly-placed hints about what he did to them? Maybe. Or maybe they could just, you know, straight up kill him. But then the secrets would still remain hidden and nothing would change. Yeah, killing him might be the end goal, but... better to expose him first, right? Then killing him would be fully worth it.
This AU is still in the works, but here, have a few picrew designs for the resident cult leaders emo kids

You might have noticed that my ocs tend to be surrounded by a bunch of other ocs that are in fact not mine! Since they are not mine, I shall only give a brief rundown on who everyone else is.
Recurring Characters:
Tumblr media
Dulze: A retired martial artist, now schoolteacher. She’s married to Yamcha and has 2 kids. Later, this becomes 3 after literally adopting Cayenne when her dad  dies. She also keeps less-literally adopting other lost souls and  becoming someone people can come to for advice. (Thanks to this she’s now also Bragi’s cool aunt.) It’s a lot of work and it brings so much chaos into her home, but she’ll do anything for her family.
Tumblr media
Letch: Dulze’s oldest (before Cayenne), he’s only about 7, and he’s very sweet. Unfortunately, he’s inherited his dad’s fear of girls. His family doesn’t count though, because moms and sisters are not girls, and you literally cannot convince him otherwise. He’s especially close with Cayenne. That’s her Little Dude right there. With her guidance, he’s going to grow up to be a beautiful himbo someday.
Tumblr media
Deeji: Dulze’s youngest. She’s 4 and she is a master of psychological manipulation. Meeting Bragi has given her a lust for power, and while she genuinely likes him and believes his hype (probably even more than he does sometimes), she’s used this as an in to gain favor with other gods, wrapping them around her little finger. Meanwhile, she and Cayenne constantly butt heads, but deep down, when push comes to shove, they really do love each other.
Tumblr media
Mille: Cayenne’s girlfriend. She is more or less a Time Patroller, but she’s largely ignored her duties to go hang out with the Ginyu Force, who have  adopted her as one of their own. But after meeting Cayenne, she now ignores her duties to hang out on Earth (though she’s still in close contact with her dads). The two spend a lot of time causing chaos and finding out which things are the most hella.
Tumblr media
Coulie: Aneas’s wife and former demon scientist working under Towa. She turned herself in after Towa seemed to have lost sight of their goals. She was initially a rival to Bragi, but they’ve more or less put all that behind them, as she’s now focused on being a good wife and mother to their baby boy Eugene.
Tumblr media
Eugene: A plant Coulie grew as part of a simple science experiment with Aneas to test the effects of talking to plants on their growth. He is literally just a potted plant and is not sentient whatsoever, but Aneas and Coulie talk to and about him like he is, and if you refer to him as “just a plant” they will be very upset.
Tumblr media
Mento/Mint: A chaotic, artificially made demon girl created by Fu. A friend to some and a nuisance to others; she ended up sacrificing herself to save everyone, and now she haunts the narrative in various ways that would honestly warrant their own post.
Villains and Antagonists:
Tumblr media
Mirin: A low-class demon disguised as a Supreme Kai apprentice in Universe 9. His aim is to slowly murder his way up the godly hierarchy until he can covertly take out the Omni-Kings himself and rule everything. He was more or less doing Among Us before it was even a thing-- Unfortunately, in order to do this, he needs more information about the higher gods. But when he hears that a god from a place as high as Universe 5 is somewhere as shabby as Universe 7, he takes it upon himself to investigate, and see what sort of information he can squeeze out of a very gossipy Bragi. He gets found out though and attempts to go nuclear, but is stopped by Mento in such a way that melts him into goo. We now call him Dear Goo Boy.
Dulze, Letch, Deeji, Mille Coulie, and Mento/Mint belong to @emizel
I made Mirin (but I’m not too proud of his execution so he’s still mostly dead and not a feature) and Eugene (but Lin and I sort of have shared custody lmao)

If Netflix Hector found and used a Behelit I'm not sure whether he'd get easily tricked within 5 seconds, or be so passive the God Hand would be like "Dude just fucking sacrifice already!"
On the other hand I'd love to see Death, Void and Skull Knight in the same room
I think I can perfectly explain one of my biggest problems with N!Hector by saying this:
I can pinpoint the moment he would cross the despair threshold necessary to activate the Behelit (when Lenore tells him he has become her pet). I can't, however, think not only what he'd want from it, but what he'd sacrifice. N!Hector has no loved ones - absolutely zero people who even respect him, in fact - and he himself doesn't love anything, he's only fond of animals. Don't tell me he'd sacrifice a random fox to the Godhand?
Even the idea of him sacrificing his powers, which conceptually would be really cool and lead to some poignant character development, doesn't hit as hard as it should, because N!Hector simply doesn't display much passion for what he does! I know he knows all the intricacies of putting cursed souls into corpses (for example, the bodies have to be undamaged), but I'm not sure if he loves it enough that becoming a normal human would interest him!
... actually, I think this would be a great prompt for both Hectors and Isaacs. Would they sacrifice their very nature to get what they want? (happiness, freedom, a place to live undisturbed, getting back to those who hurt them, etc.)
But yeah, going back to our man, he only suffers, but he doesn't really want anything until S4. If Dracula never came to him, he would have rotted on a rock in Rhodes, like the man who became the Egg of the Perfect World but by his own choice. He then spends the rest of the show going basically "sure why not" to everyone who tries to manipulate him, until he gets somehow convinced that resurrecting Dracula would atone for his mistakes. I... guess I have to be happy that at least he found something to aim for, even if it's a dipshit move that makes zero sense for him? Oh, and then by the end his great goal becomes writing a book, I suppose to tell others "don't stick your dick in crazy". Woohoo.
N!Hector is not a real character. He could have been, if the writing spent less time torturing him for the sake of being edgy and cruel and more time actually respecting the source material.

Lets talk about the miraculous day information.(season 5 spoilers)
There were a few sentences released by Gloob as part of miraculous day, I will try to keep things short in terms what these sentences could mean:
1. "Your secrets are mine and soon your Miraculous too"- this line appears to be said by either an akumatized villain or Monarch, However, judging by how they say “soon”, its almost as if whoever is saying this, is extremely close to obtaining Ladybug and Cat Noir’s miraculous. But when they say “your secrets are mine", it may be a clue as to what kind of situation Ladybug and Cat Noir are currently in. We know there are going to be miraculous powered villains so perhaps whoever is saying this may be reflecting on what kind of power helped get them to where they are now, and we all know what kind if miraculous is capable of exposing peoples secrets...its the pig miraculous!
2. "Your heart has been hurt, you'll never be able to use the power of second chance again"- whoever is saying this is obviously someone who is knowledgeable with the power of the snake miraculous, and the only ones who who fit this description is Sass, Luka and Ladybug. Now, if there is one thing we know about the snake miraculous it’s that it can NOT be used by someone who is attempting to manipulate a moment in time for their own selfish reasons. Back in “Desperada”, Adrien tried to use its power to impress Ladybug, but because he tried to use it for his own personal interest, he failed in saving her all 25,913 times! Some people may think this line is being said towards Luka because he had his heart broken by Marinette but that scenario could go any number of ways, for one, Luka could be being akumatized, but if he was then that’s a major problem because Luka is the only one who knows Ladybug and Cat Noirs identities!, but it would also make sense if it wasn’t him, after all, Luka had come to terms with the fact that Marinette was still in love with Adrien, yes he was still hurt, but he learned to make peace with those feelings, especially after finding out their identities in “Wish Maker”. But because he knows both their identities, we knew it would only be a matter of time before Ladybug found out and realize that he is in incredible danger.
Luka didn’t let his heart break take control of his moral compass and make him feel tempted to use the snake miraculous for any selfish goals when he was called on to help again, but because of the dangers of knowing Ladybug and Cat Noirs identities, Ladybug may try to do something to throw Monarch off Luka’s back, in which case, she may try to make Monarch believe that Luka is no longer capable of using the snake miraculous like how Alya tricked Monarch into believing she could no longer be Rena. But if its not Luka, then whoever is using the snakes power has got to be someone that is currently facing some sort of emotional turmoil from another person, and as of now, the only person I can think of that has had their feelings thrown into a spiral is Gabriel, who was greatly upset by Nathalie calling him out and choosing to stop giving him aid near the end of “Evolution”. We know Gabriel can akumatize himself, so it wouldn’t be to surprising if he tried to once again use the only other time miraculous in his arsenal to try and fight Ladybug and Cat Noir, or at the very least, figure out what he can do differently to win before either Sass or Luka call him out on why he can’t use the snakes power properly.
3."Maybe it's time to stop chasing the Miraculous"- This line is a little tricky but considering there are only a few in the entire show who are aiming to retrieve the miraculous in season 5, Marinette, Adrien, Tikki, Plagg and Gabriel are all suited to say this line. But considering we saw a picture of Marinette and Adrien give back Tikki and Plagg their miraculous, I’d say this line is being said during a moment of frustration as Marinette and Adrien realize they are not only failing to retrieve the miraculous and defeat Monarch, but are also struggling with the fact that so long as they are the heroes of Paris, they can never be with the person they love most, meaning that they have realized that they are miserable and are seriously considering giving up their efforts. Likewise, someone could be telling Gabriel to stop his madness and understand that chasing the miraculous is affecting his life and leading him no where, and as of now, the only person brave enough to call Gabriel out is Nathalie or Tomoe.
4.”You took a big risk, and it had a disastrous result'- again this one is a little hard to identify, but what we can take away from this is that someone is being told about their past mistakes, the one who took a big risk could be anyone and they could be being told by someone who is either purposely attempting to ridicule them, or is attempting to make them realize that they must acknowledge and come to terms with their past mistakes.

Okay what if I wrote a World of Darkness hack but you're a dragon. What if this was the first page?
How to Play This Game
You are a dragon. You are as rare a being as you are powerful. As you age, you become stronger, greedier, and more villainous. To you, mortals are pets at best, pests at worst. Other immortal beings may oppose or befriend you, but they are stepping stones for your ambition. Other dragons may be allies or even close friends, but they too can become threats as the centuries melt together, tensions form, and goals clash. Your grudges last as long as you draw breath, your desires grow more frenzied and specific with each victory, and your willingness to follow wanes as your thirst for more takes over.
What drives you?
Survival - Dragons are feared for their ability to plot over generations and exert terrible wrath. If you are found out, you will be chased to the edge of the world and slaughtered. And while you might be strong enough to take on a single warrior, perhaps even a company of strong soldiers, there are people who specialize in hunting your kind. If they catch your scent, it’s not a matter of if but when they will kill you and use your scales for armor, your bones for speartips, your ichor for alchemy, and your blood for rituals.
Greed - Dragons are not monolithic. No two are exactly alike, even if the various types of dragon share some commonalities. But every dragon has one thing in common: The desire to hoard. You will pick a hoard, one of the sources of your immense power, and build it over time. You will bask in its glory, you will covet pieces that would make it more beautiful, you will use it as a resource to get more or even power your terrible magic.
Power - Not content to lay on a pile of gold, you will invade the society of mortals as one of them. You will scheme, plot, and manipulate these beings to see your will be done, protect your hoard from the over-curious, and gain access to influential mortals who can get you what you want. You may partake in court politics, fool the mortals into warring with each other, or undermine the efforts of other dragons over a centuries-old petty insult.
Resentment - Your kind are the closest to the Gods themselves. You were crafted by their hands and cast aside. You once ruled this world, but now you are forced to skulk in lairs or in disguise among the very creatures that replaced you. But you are smarter, stronger, and more patient than them. You will satisfy your ambitions on their backs and not just punish mortals that you hate, but their entire line for generations.
What opposes you?
Mortals - It is a shame, in the end, that you are forced to play by their rules to achieve your aims. And unfortunately despite your might you will meet mortals who would stand in your way. Perhaps you can crush them in your jaws, or perhaps that would expose you to greater danger. One cannot simply stride into a throne room and melt the king to slag and take his gold. It requires guile and manipulation to extract a kingdom’s worth of treasure.
Dragon Hunters - Though it has been hundreds, if not thousands, of years since the mortals rose to power by way of dragon hunters, their threat still looms and they have passed their skills on. Driven by ambition to steal the hoards and sell the parts from dragons, these specialized warriors use a mixture of magic, martial skill, and specialized weaponry to track, corner, and slay dragons. They rely on their fellow mortals to find their marks, and once they have the scent, they never give up. Between the bounty, the hoard, and the parts, a single dragon kill can set their families up in comfort and elegance for generations.
Immortals - You are not alone in your timelessness. There are others who last as long and have their own agendas. A vampire addicted to dragon’s blood would happily contain you and drain you for eternity. A werewolf would curse you with lycanthropy and turn you into an enraged weapon of war until you were finally brought down in a blaze of futile glory. The Fae would drive you from their lands, keeping you from treasure and safe haven. There are countless others and while they may not always be fast enemies, they are never to be fully trusted.
Dragons - A dragon can always spot another dragon. And while there are no formal agreements among dragonkind, it would be unwise to reveal a fellow dragon to the mortals or undermine their efforts without good reason. Through shaky alliances and partnerships, dragons weave a complex web of internal power struggles while begrudgingly watching each other’s backs. But even among siblings, a single grudge can fester over the long life of a dragon, a mutually exclusive ambition can turn into a bitter rivalry, and any dragon would choose themself over another if it came down to it.

Leadership and Control: Exploring the Fine Line Between Authority and Tyranny
In the world of leadership, control is a double-edged sword. On one hand, leaders must assert authority to guide and direct their teams toward common goals. On the other hand, excessive control can tip into tyranny, stifling creativity, autonomy, and innovation.
This article will help you understand the balance between leadership authority and control, examining the risks of veering into tyranny while exploring strategies for maintaining effective leadership.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Delicate Relationship Between Leadership Authority and Control:
Leadership authority grants leaders the power to make decisions, set goals, and enforce rules. This authority is essential for maintaining order and coherence within teams and organizations. However, as leaders wield control, they must be mindful of the fine line between authority and tyranny.
Examining the Dangers of Excessive Control and Authoritarian Leadership:
Tyranny emerges when leadership authority morphs into unchecked control, characterized by oppression, fear, and manipulation. In an authoritarian leadership style, leaders exert dominance over their teams, stifling dissent and curtailing individual freedoms.
The consequences of tyranny can be profound, leading to disengagement, resentment, and a toxic work environment.
Strategies for Leaders to Maintain Control While Fostering Collaboration and Autonomy:
Effective leaders understand that control is not synonymous with micromanagement or authoritarianism. Instead, they prioritize empowerment, fostering collaboration, autonomy, and trust within their teams. By involving team members in decision-making processes, delegating responsibilities, and providing support and guidance, leaders can maintain control while empowering their teams to thrive.
Ensuring Leadership Control is Guided by Principles of Integrity and Transparency:
At the heart of effective leadership control lies ethics and accountability. Leaders must wield control responsibly, guided by principles of integrity, fairness, and transparency. Transparent communication, ethical decision-making, and accountability mechanisms help ensure that leadership control remains aligned with the best interests of the team and organization.
Leadership control is a delicate balancing act, requiring leaders to assert authority while avoiding the pitfalls of tyranny. Discover the thrilling sequel, 'We Are the Valaron, ' that will take you into another world. Imagine a time when aliens, the Valaron, showed up as our early ancestors were figuring out fire. These beings shaped humanity's journey to modern society. Now, tired of our fights and their own disputes, a new leader steps up, armed with a plan to unite her people and wipe out the humans who've overrun our once beautiful land.
Imagine a world where those in charge have been pulling strings from the start. 'We Are the Valaron' explores what happens when the puppeteers get fed up with the constant scheming, wars, and chaos they've caused. A fresh leader emerges, aiming to fix it all in one big sweep.

OC Profile : Estrella Silva (b. Ebun Jin)
Estrella Silva is a woman with a slim build, standing at 5'6". She has a heart-shaped face, with a petite nose and full lips. Her hair is black, straight, and cut in a chin-length bob. Her skin is a light olive tone, with a natural glow that gives her a youthful appearance.
Estrella is fiercely independent and confident, which allows her to take risks and pursue her goals with determination. She is also intelligent and observant, always analyzing the people and situations around her. Her creativity and resourcefulness make her a master problem solver, always finding new ways to overcome obstacles.
Despite her ambition, Estrella is loyal to those she cares about, and will go to great lengths to protect them.
Estrella's core personality traits include a cunning nature, a talent for manipulation, and a desire for power and control. She is a master of deception, with a talent for manipulating those around her to get what she wants. Her ambition and cunning nature make her a formidable opponent, but her troubled relationship with Octane threatens to unravel her carefully laid plans.
Overall, Estrella is a complex character with a dark past and a troubled present.
Abilities
Estrella is a time-manipulating legend in Apex Legends. Her passive ability is "Cunning Mind" - Estrella is a master strategist and can quickly assess the battlefield. When she aims down sights, she can see enemy health bars and can detect the presence of traps and other hazards.
Her tactical ability is "Flashbang Grenade" - it allows her to create a flashbang from a grenade in her inventory. The flashbang creates a blinding flash of light and deafening noise, which will cause enemies caught in the radius to be temporarily blinded and disoriented, making them easier to eliminate. Additionally, any enemies caught in the radius would take increased damage from Estrella and her teammates.
Her ultimate ability is "Time Warp" - this ability allows her to create a large bubble of slowed time that affects all enemies within a wide radius. This would allow her and her teammates to move more quickly and dodge enemy fire more easily. Additionally, any enemies caught in the radius would be slowed down to a crawl, making them easy targets for Estrella and her team.
Full biography
Estrella Silva, born Ebun Jin in 2711, was born on the planet of Pagos to a family that owned a previously successful business that partnered with Silva Pharmaceuticals. However, her parents were struggling to make ends meet, and they couldn't provide for Estrella the way they wanted to. They made the difficult decision to give her up for adoption to the Silva family, who were wealthy and powerful. Duardo agreed, as the ever calm and observant daughter could be useful in making the Silva family look good again, thanks to Octane's shortcomings.
Growing up, Estrella was a quiet and observant child. She quickly learned how to manipulate those around her to get what she wanted. She became a master of deception and was able to weave intricate webs of lies to get what she desired.
Despite her cunning nature, Estrella was overshadowed by her adoptive brother Octane, who was the heir to the Silva family.
Duardo Silva, the head of the Silva family, recognized Estrella's cunning nature and began to use her as a pawn in his political games. He would often pit Estrella and Octane against each other to further his own agenda. Estrella became Duardo's eyes and ears, wherever required of her expertise.
Estrella and Octane had a strained relationship. Octane resented Estrella for being used as a pawn by their father and saw her as a threat to his position as the heir to the Silva family. Estrella, on the other hand, was jealous of Octane's position and resented the attention that he received from their father.
As they grew older, Estrella's resentment towards Octane grew. She began to see him as a roadblock to her own success and became determined to outshine him.
By the current season in Apex, she is 23 years old. She is bisexual, but heavily prefers women.

I watched the great mouse detective again today 😔 the brainrot about that rat movie is taking over again.
anyways I had ideas for a ShuMika au where like, Mika is a prince, and Shu is some kind of political man, like some kind of bitch on his way to try and instal a puppet emperor type deal. So the original plan is to have an assassin kill and replace the crown prince as a doppelgänger so Shu and his cohort can manipulate and control the empire. Mika ends up killing the assassin instead but Shu doesn’t realize that cuz these bitches look just alike, so Mika is just trying to survive in a palace full of traitors to the empire who think he’s one of them while also keeping up appearances as a the real crown prince.
more of this bullshit below.
Essentially Mika has to pretend to be his own puppet doppelgänger in order to survive. Also he doesn’t really mind being a puppet emperor all that much cuz he actually kind of likes not having to think about how exactly to govern.
I’m not exactly sure how I want the doppelgänger to be implemented. A peasant look alike would be cool but also having the thing Shu wanted to replace Mika with be an actual puppet would be so much cooler and it would make more sense. At least in my mind having Shu make dolls so life like that not even he could tell the difference sounds like a fascinating concept.
I’m not sure what Shu’s exact political aim is yet but I feel like it could be rooted in restoring his own family’s name and taking down specific nobles in the court. Namely Eichi.
Shu’s eventual goal is to make house Itsuki powerful enough to take over once he makes the current emperor look weak and foolish enough that the people would prefer house Itsuki’s rule.
too bad Mika is starting to think for himself and actually do some of the governing himslef (mostly small stuff tbh, he still has to pretend to be a puppet).

The Joy of Hobbies As Hobbies
Tumblr media
I finished reading a book called “Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals” by Oliver Burkeman recently and it made me think about why I write.
The book is basically a “shots fired” book at productivity and conventional advice aimed to optimize people’s lives. There was a part in the book where it talks about the power of hobbies in the face of constant life-hacks. Burkeman said something about why many productivity experts can’t comprehend hobbies. They look as hobbies as things with no concrete goals/achievements.
But as Burkeman (and I would say the same too) argues, that’s the point of hobbies. You do things without worrying for anyone’s approval.
I know there’s many fans who want to use their love of anime/manga to make money somehow. To be fair, I think it’s fine to go for it. But I would argue that if you’re not able to put up with certain tastes outside of your own, you’re not going to get very far. People talk about passion and how it’s all you need. Anyone trying to make a “side/full-time hustle” out of their fandom has to learn how to talk to people, do things that they may not want/need to do, accept constructive feedback/criticism (even when it hurts), and manage a bunch of relationships that can get complicated fast. The ones who are really good at it have mastered these things.
Anything involving making money requires more than just passion, which dies really fast and unexpectedly when faced with challenges. It’s no different than work. There have been studies that show how the “follow your passion” advice can be harmful.
What I’m trying to say is that in the face of making hobbies as side hustles, it’s okay for a hobby to be just a hobby. I’m concerned with this obsession of “personal branding” to stand out. It just slowly turns people into potential pawns waiting to be manipulated when the time is right. I noticed this with Twitch streamers voicing their concerns over Twitch not caring about anyone’s mental health/burnout. You have people who aren’t acting in their best interest using “self-help” and “positive psychology” to make earnest individuals feel that the blame is totally on them.
I once felt like I had to try hard all the time even when I failed. When I started the blog as Manga Therapy, I was influenced by a social media expert to start blogging as a way to make money. Their advice was just write, talk to fans on forums, go on Twitter, spend a lot of time on the computer, etc. I was even told to put ads on my blog. I always refused though because ads provide unnecessary clutter. I also went through this SEO phase where I was obsessed with keywords, backlinks, rankings, etc. All that SEO stuff (most of it is bullshit though).
I’m trying to figure out when it was that made me go “It’s okay to write just because you want to write.” I never thought about starting a Patreon or Ko-Fi account. Maybe I just worry that when I start writing for money, I’ll lose a part of myself in the process. I once felt this way when trying out for a writing opportunity for a major gaming site. I’ve become a blunt person and more “devil’s advocate” about certain things in recent years. Plus, I think I’m getting better with just enjoying my fandom for what it is.
I have no desire to be weaponized by anime/manga communities in results-oriented drama. In the end of the day, a job (even if it’s in the anime and manga industries) is still a job at heart. Even the most exciting aspects will be mixed in with moments of dullness and interpersonal BS you need to deal with.
Maybe it sounds like I’m tired of victim-blaming. That’s why I'm encouraging treating hobbies as just hobbies because there’s already enough victim-blaming out already. And more importantly, hobbies are a form of meaningful rest. They are an amazing way to escape the bombardment of comparisons. We aren’t built to be people who can do everything possible within our lifetime in an optimal manner to the satisfaction of society.
Hobbies, in a way, are a firm reminder that we’re all just amateurs who have to do things without any need for approval. Read manga for the sake of reading for yourself. Watch anime for the sake of watching for yourself. Write fanfiction, draw fanart, make cosplay, etc. While it’s nice to share your interests with other fans, what’s also important is developing a love within yourself to enjoy anime/manga in a way that delivers genuine joy and inner peace - things that productivity advice will never truly deliver to you.
To sound like some wise anime/manga character, we’re not supposed to be perfect and once you accept that, your mind becomes a lot clearer and healthier. There’s a joy to be had in relishing that acceptance.

I am a major Fyodor simp... so can I request some fyo fic?
Honestly, anything Fyodor..
I LOVE YOUR WORK!
Have a good day!
You shall ask, n I shall deliver.. Here's some Fyodor angst! Hope u like it💕
My Favorite Poison
Fyodor x GN! Reader
TW: angst, and death... also manipulation and immense God complex...
Enjoy mi amor :)
You and fyodor loved each other. You were the perfect couple. He was a tall, handsome, lanky man, and you complemented him perfectly. Both of you couldn't be happier with your lives right now.
So why did your smile never reach your eyes when you talked to him? Why did his expression look more commanding than loving? Why did he never leave any important documents near you? Why do you never kiss him like you used to?
Why does being with him feel like a burden?
It's simple, really. You both had met a few years ago and fallen in love with each other.
What you both didn't realize at the time, was just how cunning and dangerously manipulative the other was.
You both were probably attracted to each other because of how similar you both were. Both of you had a God complex. Only now do you realize, that you two were powerful, headstrong gods, with opposite views of the world.
You believed in a clean world, devoid of evil. So did he. But in your eyes, he was evil too. Anyone who disturbs the serenity of the world is evil. It was all about balance for you. You believed in equal amount of good and bad. And that's how the world is. It is a lot of bad mixed with a lot of good, making it neither, as a whole. Anyone who tampers with this balance, is a criminal.
You, being the all knowing, were the only one exempted from this rule. For you created some ruckus, and watched how the world reacted. It was amusing for you. The way the mortals scrambled to keep up with pretenses, and killed to maintain decorum. The irony was humorous. It was your way of testing your people. Throwing them under the bus, and observing just how far they would go to survive.
Fyodor wasn't the same. His methods were all aimed towards changing the way of the world. He was aiming to break this cycle of good and bad, and believed that he could make all the bad go away. How foolish of him.
If you two ever decide to come to a middle ground, and work together, you could achieve great things.
But both of you couldn't accept another God, one who is equal to yourselves. For each of you, there existed only one God, and that was your own self. Neither of you could tolerate the presence of the other. But instead of discussing this issue, you both decided to play games. Both of you, being super manipulative, created a fake world, wherein both of you were an ideal couple, loving one another, caring for each other, sipping wine and having lively conversations. You two were living the 'perfect life of a perfect couple'.
Currently, you were seated at the large marble table of your spacious living room. You were clad in expensive attire, and seated opposite to you, Fyodor adorned a fancy suit. You two were celebrating your third anniversary. What a better way to celebrate it, than over a vast variety of mouthwatering multi cuisine spread and the finest red wine?
Your silk gloves shone in the pretty lighting of the chandelier lit hall. Fyodor looked dashing in his black suit, and the color of his tie perfectly matched the violet of his eyes. If you didn't know any better, you would have fallen for him.
But you did know better.
So you flashed a dazzlingly fake grin at the man seated opposite to you.
"What a lovely evening."
He mocked your expression, and held your hand in his, two gloved hands uniting atop the wide table.
"It indeed is, my beloved. "
Soft violins played in the background, as you both began your celebratory meal.
You stare at him as you sipped the red liquid. Observing his looks, almost as if you were memorizing his features. Oddly enough, he was doing the same.
"You look really beautiful today, my dear."
Fyodor says as he cuts himself a piece of the syrniki, dipping it in the blueberry jam that you had specially prepared for him.
You felt happy, in that moment. Your hatred for him remained constant and clear.
He observed your face, noticing the raw, elegant beauty it held. He remembers the times he spent spent with you over the last three years. Those days were truly splendid. So why did it go wrong? Why did you both hate each other? Why are you both so close, yet so far?
You and him were perfect, until you realized his point of view towards life. You believed that people born with abilities are gifted individuals. He considers them to be a curse. Abilities are immensely unfair. He wanted to rid the world of its unfairness. You, on the other hand, saw beauty in imperfection. You despised evil. Evil, in your terms, was something that changes the frangible balance of good and bad in this world. You believed in karma, and enjoyed watching from your throne as it righted all wrongs.
Fyodor was set on changing the dynamics of this impure world. You couldn't let that happen. You enjoyed it the way it was.
He knows that if he wants to be successful in cleansing the world, he would have to let you go. But you were stubborn. You wouldn't leave without changing his mind and manipulating him to give up on his aim. Besides, you had seen and heard way too much. He couldn't just let you walk away.
He noticed how you kept sipping the wine, and didn't touch the food.
That works for him.
He tries to hide his grin. Yes, the good times he had with you were lovely. He honestly hadn't felt like that with anyone before. He had fallen in love with you. But, alas, all good things must come to an end.
You felt lightheaded, and dizzy. You wondered if it was happiness, or something else entirely.
Your eyes widened as you realized just what you were drinking. You had just sipped your own demise.
The peculiar smell, the slightly sour taste.. you wondered how you missed the tell tale signs of being poisoned.
Fyodor chuckled at your shocked expression.
"It was fun, Krasotka. The times we shared were very genuine."
He cuts another piece of his syrniki, relishing the taste.
It's a pity. He thought. Nobody can make these as well as you do. It's a pity he won't be able to enjoy them anymore.
You start laughing maniacally.
'Ofcourse,' , you thought,' afterall, the two of us are the exact same.'
"So this is goodbye, I suppose." You say as you grip the table to prevent falling prey to the weakness spreading throughout your body.
"Why, yes. I-"
Fyodor was interrupted by a series of coughs. His breathing became irregular, and he was coughing up blood, staining the pearly white silk napkin with a crimson hue.
Fyodor gapes at your laughing form.
'The syrniki', he thought.
"We are but the same darling.", you say as you caress his paling cheek with your fingers.
The reason for your giddiness became clear to him now. You wanted him gone. He wondered why he didn't catch on to the subtle hints. The peculiar smell, the slightly metallic taste, it all points to being poisoned. Now he understood why you had made his favourite dish in the first place. It was all to lure him to bite into his last meal.
He stares at your beautiful eyes. Eyes that once held pure unadulterated love for him. But now, they were filled with malice and hatred. Oh, how cunning you were. As he observed the evil glint in your eyes, he fell for you all over again. He loves your dark side. Now that he was on the verge of death, his goals, ambitions, nothing really mattered. In this moment of truth, he was able to genuinely appreciate your evil genius. The mysterious new plant in your garden, one that looked so much like an innocent garden plant, was one of your deadly creations. You really were a smart person. Always tinkering with life, in all forms. Your array of poisonous creations were memorised by him. This one was new. You had discovered another poisonous plant species, and grown it specially for this occasion. How truly romantic of you.
"I love you." ,he says as he stares at his one true love, his savior, and his angel, who would carry him to his death.
"It's a pity that I don't anymore. ", you say, leaning closer to him.
"Happy anniversary, love.", you whisper.
Both your faces meet halfway in one last kiss.

1 - Starting positions and each Hermit's powers (based on the submissions from Day 1)
Summary post 2 - Interpersonal connections (based on Day 1 and 2 submissions)
Make sure to check out the second masterpost here for more up to date information, including newer art and writing!
Asks:
- (copied ask) [summarized mod comment]
- Hermitopia | Scar was experimented on by Cub. He gained dangerous powers and wings that resemble a dragon’s, but he keeps both hidden. Unless someone makes him angry. He has no idea who gave him his powers. Eventually he and Cub decided that they wanted to control things beyond their corporation, so Scar ran for mayor. (there are things to fill in but im lazy) [Scar assumes he got the powers in an accident during research. He enjoys having them but has no idea that they were intentional.]
- Hermitopia AU team ZIT is a superpowered crime-fighting trio!
- owing to a very particular set of guidelines he put in place, Joe can now copy powers if he sees them in use and can reverse-engineer how those powers are used. needless to say, this is massively overpowered in the right hands.but it got worse. at some point, there was an... incident... on ConCorp grounds, something to do with a mass amount of entities causing time dilation -- and Joe was caught in the thick of it, unable to be rescued for a while.the problem is, he got out by piecing together how the time dilation worked.needless to say, Joe... has a ridiculous powerset. so he chooses largely not to use his powers anymore unless it's absolutely dire or petty enough to shrug off as a random occurrence. nobody needs to know that one of the most powerful Unaffiliated in the city is standing right in front of them... especially not ConCorp.
- doc was a former high ranking employee of concorp before he volunteered for an experiment and it went horribly wrong. since then, the company has tried to erase any evidence of his existence. doc is now seeking revenge for all that the company did to him and is determined to tear it apart
- HI ok follow up asks will be sent later when my thoughts are coherent but concept: cleo has like super messed up healing powers where she can make healing go Too Far. also i pin her as unbound, considering, like, everything - shovel-shuffle
- So, his power was meant to be super-regen, right? except things don't always quite go to plan. Someone volunteered for the powers surgeries and is arguably dead. Etho is a name shared by the many many clones that developed themselves out of the leftovers. They're not quite individuals, not quite a hivemind. Any one of them has no fear of death because the others will continue, but they all act independently around their overarching goal. (which I won't snitch about) - DragonKay
- Bdubs was a hero. Key word? Was. He climbed the ranks through the government, he was a loyal and dutiful member of society, and he used his plant manipulation powers to subdue evil-doers without hurting them. But he’s always been a friendly guy, and he couldn’t help himself—talking to the Unrestrained, especially those in custody, was interesting! ...but it’s a slippery slope to walk, being friendly with the enemy and not sympathizing to their cause. Nobody knows where he is now, but there are rumours of a vigilante with similar abilities, and his three compatriots, two of whom he helped escape from ConCorp... They call themselves the nHo. - slimetek [Bdubs deserted Concorp while helping Doc escape after his experiment went wrong]
- Concorp managed to make a device that allows animals to speak or translate their thoughts into writing. This means that the good old mayor Scar has a certain cat giving some advice on how to run the city.
- Iskall is an assasin/mercenary against their own volition. An accident they'd rather forget almost killed them, and in exchange for their freedom and free will they got to live as a cyborg. Though its hard to forget with the implant that covers their eye and the limb of cool metal hanging at their side - @ghastly-ghostie [Iskall works for Concorp off-books, bound by the debt owed to them for the life saving experimental modifications]
- so I think grians original powers could be like cloning, but something goes wrong and the clones are different people. as a result of the duplication process, some funky magic rocks are made. the clones decide to take most of the funky rocks and run off, leaving grian with one rock that gives him some new abilities and the clones' rocks give him others. also uhh mechanical wings bc yes. so grians plot is him trying to find them while also causing problems on purpose. infinity stones. update to my grian ask from earlier, I had better ideas: the rocks are old like magic things that grian finds before the cloning and ends up collecting, but his clones snatch them - simplyskipper [some of the alternate Grians are aligned with different factions in Hermitopia, while the locations of others are farther or unknown]
- Hermitopia- Impulse has solid-light powers. He has golden crystals implanted in his hands, which he can reflect light through to solidify it into all sorts of shapes. This can be used to make barriers, projectiles, and much more, though more detailed constructs take more time.- @mleemwyvern
- Hermitopia AU Poultry man is a well-known chaotic neutral leaning towards good, as a one of the unrestrained.
- I think Team ZIT should be a little be wild card-y, that's how they act after all! [they are employed by the government for standard crimefighting, but they don't always take Scar's word at its intended meaning and often play a bit on the chaotic side when given instructions]
- [Hermitopia AU] False is an antihero/vigilante type who's specialty is not defined by powers or the such, but just... the absolute skill of being able to dual wield two (more sci-fi era) short swords. Maybe someone upgrades them to be "enchanted" (electrical, fire, etc. something that tech could do well probably). She's willing to be paid-for-hire, but if you go past her moral line she's also willin' to backstab you. -- @cheshire-vex [she's a free agent who sort of drifts between Concorp, the government, and whoever else will pay her on a job-by-job basis]
- Hermitopia impulse has more connections then one may think. He has ties to people pretty much everywhere, for reasons unknown. There is a 100% someone will come and greet him wherever he goes. [the greetings are usually friendly]
- Hermitopia Au! Keralis is a hero who most people wouldn't expect to be too skilled at fighting. His power is similar to hypnosis so he has no need to get very physical. Yeah, that changed when some bastard villain decided to attack his friends shop. [that incident caused his employer Scar to realize his untapped potential for protecting people and assign him to a few more high-stakes jobs]
- Hermittopia!TFC was one of ConCorp’s first experiments and as such his powers are a bit less...refined then the others. He has geokinetic powers, allowing him to psychically control rocks and other earthen materials. He used to be one of the VEX programs top graduates, but has since parted ways with them for unknown reasons and now operates his own plans of keep crime in Hermitopia under control. -lechairpourriedegrianri [he is considered Unaffiliated and both Concorp and the government largely leave him to his own devices, since he is helping to keep the city together]
-Wels doesn't have powers. He does have a super-suit made of fire and heat resistant carbon fibre (like the material used for the space shuttle) and has a built in hologram projector. One time, he used the hologram projector to project an image of himself, which everyone thought was a clone. He didn't have the heart to tell them otherwise. (AKA everyone thinks Wels has powers but he doesn't) -Silverwolf53 [he got the suit in Project VEX]
- To follow up on the Impulse ask- Team ZIT are a space-themed superhero team. Government-aligned, at least for now.Tango has meteor-like powers, he can shoot fire from his hands and feet and often uses this to propel himself at high speeds. Zed has gravity powers! He can increase or decrease the density of any object, to the point of making small black holes. They all have space-themed costumes, and it was probably Zed's idea. - @mleemwyvern
- TFC was the first participant in project VEX
- Grian was an attempted success. It fixed some problems with Etho's unintended cloning, but at the same time created some problems of its own, seeing as the clones appeared to have a life of their own. It's fine, though. It's probably fine
- I would say Grian is unrestrained, a bit like Etho, Chaotic in his own way. Does not activily Try to hurt people, but does mostly what he wants for fun.-Ciara
- Xisuma is a civilian- he has hero friends, but despite all their teasing he’s never wanted to go through VEX training. But in the night, the unrestrained Void walks the streets [Void is a symbiotic creature made of nothingness that uses Xisuma's body as a substitute physical form]
- Bdubs was such a good man... he could be trusted to look after Doc, couldn’t he? Somebody had to oversee him, somebody who was reliable and would never, ever consider betraying the mayor and ConCorp...They let their guard down, and Bdubs got curious. Bdubs made a friend. And then they lost him.- Slimetek
- The hels hermits are considered evil by default. How do you spot these clones, how could you protect yourself? Well in the past it was a lot easier, just look for their red eyesNowadays contacts exist but that doesn't stop people trying to call the police on tango, calling him a hels. Hes netherian, they have unnatural eye colours and their iris fills the entire eye, hes not evil but if people keep doing this hes gonna be!
- Beef woke up from his brain surgery to receive telepathy powers, took one look into the mind of the overseer, and noped put of there as fast as he could go.He's on very public record. After all, the mind control he may be capable of is a very convenient explanation for anyone who turns against concorp... ~DragonKay
- Hypno can’t control minds. They say he does. It’s why he’s named Hypno, after all.In reality, he can’t control people like that... but he can control what they see.Your best friend might look like your greatest enemy. A pit of lava might look like solid ground. A 100-foot drop might look like a step down. It’s a good thing he’s a hero, and a good thing he keeps his true powers hidden beneath a guise of low-level hypnotism. There’s no telling what he could do if they let him go. [he works for Concorp, helping to protect VEX trainees from people trying to harm them before they get a chance to finish the program, as well as keeping other resources safe]
- The 9th Street Incident [referring to an earlier Impulse comment] was a friendly greeting. That particular version of Etho just thought that drawing weapons would be a friendly greeting for Impulse, but Tango and Zed seem to disagree
- They still don’t trust Bdubs. He was with the government for a long time, and things are hard out there on the run. Besides, they don’t know what he got up to there. ConCorp could have any sort of information on him, something that might scare him back.Bdubs understands this. He doesn’t want to go back. He’d hate to go back....but they think he will, and maybe there’s something he’s not telling them. An ace that ConCorp has yet to play.- Slimetek
- Mumbo works for concorp as an engineer specialising in robotics, most recently taking on the task of maintaining Iskall's cybernetics that somehow they just keep damaging. Iskall assures him they're just.. very clumsy. So far Mumbo hasn't caught on.
- Ren's power is that hes a werewolf, but he only found out when he was in his late teens with his childhood friend Iskall. He still feels guilty about it, he did kill his best friend afterall. Or so he thinks. He's lived off grid ever since, too overwhelmed with grief and guilt to rejoin society. Most assume he's dead too - @ghastly-ghostie [Ren dropped Iskall off to Concorp as a last ditch effort, running away before he could see whether they took his friend in or not. They did, starting Iskall's plotline. Iskall told Concorp about Ren's abilities, triggering a panic in the Concorp ranks at the fact that Ren is a superhuman being created by some force other than their own project]
- Where does Void come from? The same place all powers come from.Little did they know, something survived the crash and has taken a human host. Maybe it's not the only one...No, that place is not Concorp. Concorp's original goal was to develop technology by reverse-engineering from a crashed alien spaceship. These aliens did gene-editing the way some people do nose jobs, so they adapted that technology, too.~DragonKay
- i've already said a bit about it in the discord but i have hermitopia cleo brainrot. joe being there was able to save her by giving her the regen powers along with her puppeteering telekinesis power. anyways cleo is presumed dead, sent by concorp into a mission as fodder basically until zit could arrive. but now there's is one (1) bitter undead vigilante against concorp that is presumed dead
- Stress’s name has a few meanings in relation to her. Whenever she gets too angry or /stressed/, she transforms into the StressMonster, a monster that feeds off of other people’s stress to become more powerful. Luckily, the monster is rarely seen, but does terrible things when she is. She’s one of the most feared creatures in Hermitopia. Stress hates her and tries her best to hide her from her friends, but it can backfire sometimes. - @guster-animations
- to follow-up on Joe being presumed dead: remember the time dilation incident he was stuck in? ConCorp figured it was best to cut their losses and not try to send anyone in to rescue him -- it would be a pointless mission. so they abandoned him, quietly announced that he had died in the line of duty, and put the affected area under high security clearance in order to prevent any future accidents. they figured he was already dead. and Joe figures, given that they up and abandoned him, maybe it's for the best that they continue to figure just that. he changed his last name to "Hills" -- a joke about the biome containing the time anomaly -- and otherwise proceeded to stay under the radar. he still uses the time dilation area as a base of operations, sometimes; it's very useful to have a hideout that people physically cannot get into/out of without his direct assistance. is he nursing a grudge, coming up with some convoluted scheme to get back at the paramilitary group for abandoning him? or does he just want to live a relatively normal life off the grid? who knows. that's the Joe [REDACTED] Hills difference. -@betweenlands
- False has some big scary power that is almost Eldritch she just happens to prefer a sword and doesn’t really care for who she works for as long as they’re paying... (they don’t need to know of the power that had harmed the ones she loves the most)
- Keralis once encountered Void sulking around where Xisuma worked. So fearful for his friend’s safety, he used his power on Void and told him to go away. Apparently the charm is still active, because if Void spots Keralis anywhere, he’ll turn tail and run. No, it’s not because he’s scared. Absolutely not.
- Grumbot serves as a sentient supercomputer created by Mumbo for Grian. Grian is using Grumbot for... various activities, all of which harmless, but a certain evil clone [Helsknight] has reverse engineered the technology. Concorp would like for Mumbo to give them the tech, but mumbo stuck some eyes to the computer, got emotionally attached, and refuses to give up his baby boy.
- When Impulse hears his friend/colleague Bdubs has been "taken over" by the mind-controller [Beef], he wants to go on an off-the-books mission to rescue him! Just giving up like they were told to isn't in his nature.Of course the rest of ZIT are with him. Heroes save people! It's what they do!~DragonKay
- Hermitopia is a mixture of sleek futuristic and cyberpunk in terms of style. It really depends on where you live and work (ik this doesnt include any hermits but whatever) - @ghastly-ghostie
- I wonder if Cleo's overactive healing powers affect herself and if any injuries she receives immediately heal over like wolverine or deadpool
- Ren used to be friends with Cleo too, but then she died. Strangely enough, she died on the same day that Ren killed Iskall. Ren’s lost all his friends. It’s hard living in isolation when there’s no one left that even cares about you. (Unless— no, that’s impossible.)
- I was thinking about Biffa, like you do. And Biffa would totally be some robot that was created by Project VEX in its early stages, however they realised fast that it was easier to use humans and give them powers, maybe its not their strong suit with robots. But Biff went sentient and glitched and was scrapped so hes just out there doing his thing. Hes a wildcard and plays for which side he wants at the time, sometimes he'll help or sometimes hes the one causing trouble. He looks pretty similar to a android like in Detroit:Become human but hes a bit uncanny and eerie, maybe its the eyes or the blood red armour. Powerwise, he's got more strength than a human does, mainly because he isn't limited like others are. try not to get punched by him, it'll hurt! [He's convinced Concorp will destroy him if they find out he's alive and Unaffiliated] -lucodak
- Going off of my thing about hermotopia impulse having friends everywhere....this may include the nho. Okay, they beat him to a pulp on one of his solo patrols once, but theey felt bad n patched him up! He has to keep it a secret. He brings them dinner alot. And checks in on them.
- Beef is the perfect cover-up for Bdubs’ desertion. ConCorp doesn’t want any other employees getting bright ideas, now, do they? Nor do they want employees getting nosy and trying to figure out where Bdubs went. They don’t have to tell people what Beef’s powers are. They just release that he developed powers after brain surgery, and a rumour that he was spotted lurking around before Bdubs suddenly betrayed ConCorp... and people draw their own conclusions. -Slimetek
- xB is pretty sure he’s supposed to be evil.I mean, that’s what sentient AIs usually end up being, according to a quick internet search. And yet he’s... not. Or maybe he’s just on the wrong side. - Slimetek
- Yes impulse is friends with the nho....what he doesn't know? He's....easily susceptible to hypnosis. Very easily.......Of course, after impulse is basically a very tired n warm cuddle bug, so, cuddle piles tend to happen after all information is spilled. He must've fallen asleep at their apartment again! Whoops! But it's okay.....they take good care of him if he does! [Beef is using his mind reading ability on Impulse without his knowledge, to make sure that he hasn't spilled their location and to predict the government's next moves. He feels slightly bad about it but feels that it is necessary for the nHo's survival.]
- So far, Grian has only ever encountered two of his clones, NPC Grian and Robot Grian. Technically three, if one were to count Ariana Griande. Grian doesn't really, but some do. [Ariana Griande is a popular musician in Hermitopia who is building a career using the magical stone of voice enhancement she recieved through the cloning process]
- To handle the two Grumbot issue: the one working with Helsknight can be Jrumbot, a legion of robot drones meant to work as Grumbot’s physical form that ended up being hijacked by Helsknight and turned against ConCorp
- There...aren’t a lot of “normal” animals left in Hermittopia. ConCorp took one look at the animals populating the city and decided that, hey, they could make some improvements. Species after species, they modified their behavior, appearance, internal structure, whatever they could fix, tweak, or add. They were just improving their lives and the lives of the citizens of Hermittopia, after all, but the new animals quickly outcompeted the old for resources and habitats. And if it makes it easier for ConCorp to stick a camera in one or two of them, or set up robotic animals to keep a better eye on the city, no harm, no foul, right?(Bonus: there is one (1) singular cat left in Hermittopia, resulting in a spy movie-style heist where two teams of Hermits attempt to “rescue” the cat simultaneously. The cat keeps wandering away from both teams. Shenanigans ensue)- Adonis [the cat is Jellie, who orchestrated the competition between Team ZIT and Cleo and Joe for her own entertainment, getting away from both parties in the end]
- The Leak:Not all mutations are the result of controlled experiments! If some alien tech got away from the crash site, concorp never would have picked it up. It might have got into nature, not as refined as they made it in the labs but causing little changes here and there. Ren may have become a werewolf from being bitten by a mutant wolf~DragonKay
- Impulse is able to use his powers to create illusions or male things appear invisible! Sort of. After all, light dictates what we see. It takes a lot of focus, though, so it's not that practical. -@rayveewrites
- The one thing Hels wasn't able to steal was the cloning technology, hence his hostility with Concorp -- he needs the cloning device, because how else is the void going to get a body of their own? - SilverWolf53
- *glances at the hermitopia werewolf ask* okay but what if the same mystery people who made ren into a werewolf also created jevin, and maybe Etho? idk if either of them have been given any hermitopia headcanons yet lol. but im sure the same people who made a werewolf could make a sentient slime (or perhaps rescue one) or make... whatever etho is. [Since the "second organization" is an incorrect assumption believed by Concorp, Jevin was created when he came in contact with a waterway contaminated by The Leak. Concorp assumes he was created by an opposing organization and not by accident, and therefore would like to bring him in along with Ren.]
- hermitopia - mumbo and grian were friends back when cloning experiments were still happening (or . as friendly as you can be with someone who's treating you like a lab rat), but after everything went wrong and grian escaped, mumbo has his memories wiped nd thats why he's trusted w iskall's stuff? bc he inherently remembers working on high-level things without knowing where he learnt it - muscle memory, yk?anyway massive angst with grian maybe recognising mumbo, but not the other way round, and trying to rekindle their friendship? and that's where grumbot comes in? -gin [Mumbo's memory was wiped so that he would forget the deadly purpose of Iskall's cybernetics, which he was working on at the same time as the Grian project in the background. Mumbo does not remember creating Grian's mechanical wings or Iskall's arm and eye, and he has no memory of either individual previous to "meeting" Iskall as the person assigned to his repair and upkeep.]
- Etho doesn't so much have powers as he is powers. All the powers the ‘original’ had went into creating him; now he just exists, as whatever sort of being he is. Not a human one, that much is obvious. ~DragonKay [Etho has no powers beyond the hivemind and his training, due to the error in the experiment that caused the clones]
- Mumbo started the button as a joke. A nonsense social expirement to see how much people want worthless signs of status. Unfortunately things got out of hand, and violent too. But hey! It's not his fault that the five special anomalous stones were misplaced into the prize dispenser! It was just chance that they fell into the hands of the clone of the worst gremlin in the city! Don't fire him! [He was not fired, but Cub was Decidedly Unhappy with him for a good long while]
- Void mostly trashes ConCorp facilities- trying to figure out if any of his siblings survived the spaceship crash, but occasionally he’ll pilfer from a bakery, because X is a health nut and Void just wants a gods damned cookie [Void very much dislikes unseasoned chicken]
- If the Stress Monster gets too big, too dangerous, Cleo is sworn under oath to Stress to zap her with her healing powers. Cleo doesn’t like to do it, overhealing a stressed Stress makes her so calm she gets knocked out for a couple of days, but Stress can take a small comfort in the fact that at least one person out there can stop her
- Ooh with the self healing Cleo she'd be able to develop a small amount of super strength, with how the mind keeps from going full throttle because it would destroy the body once she gets over it it's hysterical strength whenever she wants [it is quite painful, but a good backup plan]
- Being a hive mind of disposable clones that can spawn new copies at will, it can sometimes be hard for the Etho Entity to remember that it is indeed a big deal for other people when they get hurt. This can make him come off as callous to those around him, placing him firmly in the "villain" category in most citizen's books, but he really doesn't intend any harm!
- Grian used to be tall, but then the cloning happened. With each clone they stole a little bit of his height making him the short man he is today. He needs to capture those clones and get his height back. [Grian isn't entirely sure how to accomplish this, but he's dead set on trying! He misses being tall!]
- While Grian was perfectly fine with Ariana Griande living her own life, he did insist on one thing. Her "older brother" getting backstage access whenever she was on tour. He's very proud and supportive of her and her music career.
- Mumbo is perfectly content working in tech, watching the other hermits get up to crazy shenanigans. Except of course, there was that one time he was out testing some new gear and accidentally saved a crowd from some villains... and there were all those times after too...But hey! It’s not his fault that people like him, and he certainly isn’t going to get caught by Concorp during his after hours activities. [Mumbo considers himself an accidental hobbyist, not thinking he has the nerve or the skill for proper hero work. Time will tell if he's right about that or not...but unfortunately, he probably is. This should be fun.]
- There’s still some people overseeing VEX, even over Cub. They’re the ones that push Cub to do certain experiments or to scrap one. They’re the ones to give Cub the decision for Iskall’s life debt. Scar was under them too for the longest time, but eventually he wanted out. Cub still wanted in. They were still in the right, right? That’s what they tell him. He’s starting to doubt it. [Cub is way too invested in everything he's built to even think about going rogue now, but he does resent and occasionally question the judgement of his superiors increasingly as his project begins to fail more and more often. He also fears that Scar's shift in career will be seen as a betrayal, rather than as a tactical attempt to gain the company influence in the government.]
- Been thinking about the impulse + nho asks and just,,, what would happen if concorp/the government found out? It cant be good with interrogation/hypnosis on both sides (incase you cant tell,, the brainrot got me as well) (apologies if this is a mess im excited) [Hypno is assigned to set up an illusionary conversation to make Impulse reveal nHo location to Concorp and government agents while thinking that he's actually talking to the nHo in a random encounter]
- The one mind Beef can't read is Etho's. Their hivemind is just too weird for him to comprehend. If he ever tries to listen in, it sounds like just a bunch of static from an old TV.
- for hermitopia au!: Out of most of the heros, the most reckless may be team zit. sure they tell themselves they'll plan out missions but it's hard when they share a braincell and tango just runs in. impulse and zed share a look everytime and have to run after him to make sure he doesn't get too hurt or overwhelmed by the enemy. in their defence its hard to plan ahead against an enemy when you dont know what they are thinking.-lucodak ["You might not have known what they were thinking, Tango, but we'd generally like you to know what you're thinking!"]
- i bet ConCorp really wants to make it out like theres some secret shady organization creating all these people with mutations, rather than their own operatives deserting and their own failure to contain dangerous chemicals... whether its malicious coverups or just ignorance to the fact they messed up, wonder what would happen if that sort of thing came to light...? [If they found out that the unintentional superhumans were a result of the poorly-contained crash site? Cub would lose his job...maybe worse. If Cub found out (and he hasn't, yet) he would do everything in his power to keep that information from his superiors.]
- (paraphrased) Impulse accidentally walks in on heroes and agents breaking down the doors of the nHo's hideout and confronting them. Scar claims that they did so on information Impulse himself provided and thanks him for his service. Impulse, feeling confused and betrayed, resists Hypno's attempts to illusion him back to Scar's side and flees the scene with the nHo, knowing very little other than the fact that he doesn't want to be manipulated by the government any more (and still not knowing that Beef has been reading his mind)
- Impulse may have been labeled a traitor. But do you really think that Impulse, secret rebel, starting to learn how dangerous and corrupted Concorp really is, wouldn't let his best friends know about the danger they might be in? I think Team ZIT is more loyal to each other than to the government. - @mleemwyvern [ Impulse's first stop after escaping with the nHo is to find a place to secretly meet Tango and Zedaph and tell them about the way he was tricked. It takes a lot of explaining and a lot of trust, but they eventually decide to believe his claims and are left with a choice: will they openly go rogue and become a target along with Impulse and the rest of the nHo, or are they better off using their established image and reputation to keep an eye on the government heros' movements from the inside?]
- (two asks combined, paraphrased) Ren runs out of supplies and decides to head back into the city, confident in his ability to stay off the grid after so many years of experience and such a long time away. Once there, he runs into Doc, and they hit it off quite quickly. However, the more Ren talks the more Doc realizes - with his ex-Concorp knowledge - that Ren matches the description of Iskall's main target exactly. He warns Ren, who is then faced with the knowledge that Iskall is alive and assigned to kill him...so many questions and so many tears to follow...
- Why did Hermitopia start needing heroes? When the Unrestrained started to appear, if course. Why did the Unrestrained start to appear? A question asked a little less. When did the VEX program start? When did they start taking more risks? When did they stop caring about certainty and safety and shift towards trying to push boundaries they weren't ready to? People can be so enamoured with the concept of superhuman abilities, something bright and glorious and good- and perhaps they could have that too- they don't ask all the right questions. It's all an elaborate game of damage control, don't let the flashy heroics fool you, they've made mistakes, terrible, terrible mistakes, and now there are villains running loose with powers they fooled ConCorp into giving them. Are they villains? Are they victims? Does it matter? They're causing problems. [Project VEX has developed into a solution to its own problems, a self perpetuating cycle...one that Cub, as a businessman, is very familiar with. It's what keeps the wheels of industry turning. It's what keeps innovation creeping forward. It wasn't intentional, not this time...but if it keeps his project alive, he'll take it.]
- One time, Jevin had narrowly dodged being captured by Concorp. He was laying low in the forest out of town, when he had a run-in with some sort of wolf creature. Thankfully, claws and teeth couldn't exactly hurt him anymore, so he just played dead until it gave up.When the moon set, the wolf-thing slowly transformed into a human being. Ren was horrified at the thought he'd lost control and hurt someone- again- but Jevin assured him he was fine. Jevin got the feeling that the werewolf needed a friend, and Jevin himself needed a place to stay for a while... -RayveeWrites [Ren and Jevin are not currently in the same location, but they each have a means of contacting each other for help if needed]
- Worm Man wasn't a well- known super, but plenty of people have noticed that he seemed to vanish at the same time Team ZIT first started active duty. Those people have also noticed that one of the members has a very similar power set to WM.Officially, that's just a coincidence. Officially.-RayveeWrites [Zedaph was trying to get some unofficial practice while still in training in the VEX program]
- A common misconception is that Bdubs conjures up his vines from nowhere. He can't.Like any plant, his vines grow from seeds. They grow unnaturally fast, when Bdubs wills it, but they have to come from seeds. Where do these seeds come from, you may ask?Well, a long time ago, Bdubs ingested some strange fruits. Somehow, in wild defiance of human biology, the seeds contained in those fruits worked their way into his muscles and germinated. Some of the roots worked their way into his brain and fused into it; the rest spread through his muscles, grew beneath his skin, coiled around his bones. Thanks to the way the vines connected to his brain, Bdubs is able to command the vines, and their magic, at will. The vines produce seeds; some stay in his body to replace the old ones when they die, and most work their way into a pair of 'seed pods' in his wrists. Bdubs provides the nutrients, the energy; the vines provide the seeds, the magic. As an extra bonus: if the vines were to be totally removed from Bdubs' body, he would be at best extremely weak, and at worst dead. The vines have grown into his muscles, to the point where they've essentially replaced them in some areas. It's fortunate that they connected with his mind so early on, otherwise he'd be dead. -RayveeWrites [Concorp developed the fruit, and the fact that Bdubs is evidence of the unlikely success of that experiment makes them all the more angry at his betrayal]
- A lot of excellent xB information (it's too long to copy but please read it it's very good)
- Iskall has exactly one (1) failed assignment. That assignment? The kill or capture of Stress. Stress and Iskall have been, or should it be were now, friends for a very long time, since before Iskall even met Ren. So one can imagine the stress this causes Iskall, to be told to kill his one remaining friend that he knows is alive. Of course, this stress is quite enough to to Stress's Stress Monster into one it's strongest yet seen forms, allowing for Stress to then get away. (1/2)(2/2) Of course, Con Corp doesn't- and can never- know the true reason that Iskall cannot kill or capture Stress. If they knew, if they subjected Stress to the same hell he's in- no, that cannot happen. So Iskall hires False to protect Stress, to interfere whenever they send him on a mission for her. Luckily, False is good at keeping secrets when she wants to, and this one she'll keep. But as far as Con Corp knows, Iskall has severe stress and trauma from being a cyborg, and that's why he fails. [This all adds up to a monumental waste of Concorp's time and money, which also results in False getting payed, so all parties involved are happy except for Concorp >:)]
- Impulse would take a bullet for his teammates, and he knows they might be about to take one for him, keeping him updated on what's going on government side of this... slander. Still, Tango and Zed are great actors, and if he didn't know better, he might be a little worried they would *actually* be hunting him down in the name of justice [Tango and Zed are now being sent on missions to retrieve Impulse, which they must pretend to lose believably. They occasionally overestimate their friend's abilities and give him a few more close calls than he'd like, but overall the ruse is holding up.]
