Regarding certain bloggers who claim “culturally Christian” is just a neutral term while using it to attack and invalidate anyone who disagrees. You don’t have to try and please them. I considered conversion to Reform Judaism because these bloggers would fetishize Judaism, treating it as the progressive opposite of Christianity, but I realized I wasn’t doing it for me but to please them. You don’t have to reject everything just because it’s “Christian” either to please them. You can still admire artwork/architecture, movies and books with Christian themes. The Prince of Egypt which is arguably more of a Jewish story is one of my favorite movies. I don’t have to agree with the religious stuff to know it has an emotional conflict between brothers, great animation and great songs. A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite sci fi novels which again I read for the characters and themes. If anything, they’re the ones who are more “culturally Christian” with their view that you can never fully leave Christianity which is just a “woke” version of the view that you’re a sinner from birth. For people who claim to be leftist, they are obsessed with blaming individuals as opposed to the systems that created the Christian hegemony they hate. This view is actually gross for those who are POC and ex Christian as many of us never chose to be this way, whether it was forced on our cultures or we were adopted by evangelical companies. Deconstruct and heal the way you want, not just so you can please some blogger that will never be satisfied.

ive already expressed how bunk the culturally christian discourse is but something else occurred to me and its that the discourse not only alienates exchristians (on purpose) but also alienates poc, largely i think also on purpose. because ive seen so many false equivalence posts insinuating that backlash against culturally christian is the same as resistance to the idea of ‘white privilege’ or that being ‘culturally christian’ is the same as being white in a racist society. and so many people keeping this discourse going are white and trying to call out other white people for having another level of what theyve interpreted as unilateral all encompassing privilege, going back and forth on how privileged the cultural christians (exchristians, people raised atheist, people who have converted to other religions, jewish folks and muslims too now if they breathed the wrong too christian air or lived in the wrong country) are and equating it to being inherently racist. and you can see how this analogy doesn’t work for people of color and literally anyone marginalized in any other way. even if you think ‘culturally christian’ works as a term (it doesn’t but go off, mostly because yall stripped it of anything meaningful from conception) how can you say its equivalent to white privilege even for poc without being racist? for all this “you need to unlearn christian biases!” none of you are unlearning your racist biases.
being ‘culturally christian’ is not a person of color’s version of white privilege you myopic racist fucks. the white ‘culturally christian’ enjoyers are either trying to dodge some sort of guilt or accountability but it shows how they use intersectionality is broken and oversimplified otherwise we wouldn’t be having this discussion in the first place. its no surprise a concept made by a black woman (intersectionality) is misused by white folks. and no, i don’t care if youre white and nonchristian saying this, if you can make those kind of claims with no nuance then i get to do the same. a lot of the popular bloggers who say this are white and reblog from people known to harass poc anways...
and now for the personal anecdote as a black person: black churches didn’t get firebombed, be segregated and get defunded so they couldn’t organize against white supremacy for you to say ‘culturally christian’ is the same as being white and racist for everyone. they didn’t edit the bibles they gave enslaved people for no reason, they didn’t burn crosses in people’s yards and march streets with them in white hoods, or claim black people didn’t have souls or that integration was ‘unchristian’ or say that “only jesus could fix racism!” for you to get your white ass on tumblr and say this shit. i hope you feel genuinely uncomfortable and unsettled reading that.

The whole transandrophobia discussion thing is weird bc it feels like it's a bunch of poc and jewish trans people being like "here are my experiences of how specifically being MASCULINE had affected me, and the discrimination and violence I experienced based on that. And here is how that relates to me being a racial/ethnic minority"
And then a few loud white trans people going "ohhh you wanna be oppressed so bad you *slur*. This is why there aren't any poc in your movement it's because REAL poc understand intersectionality"
#hot take white culturally christian or athiest leftests do not properly interpret white jewish ppl#like as a poc i and other poc understand that white jewish ppl often get racial privilege#but a) not always b) they experience oppression based off of their ethnicity#idk from my perspective it seems like white goyim either see jewish ppl as 'the disgusting exotic enemy' or 'basically WASPS but they#wanna feel special'#with no nuance. no recognition#look maybe this next part is bc i didnt grow up with jewish ppl and therefore didnt know until I was 18/19 that jewish ppl can count as#white. but like. idk how to say this. i dont wanna speak over white jewish ppl. but like.#jewish ppl that have obvious jewish features (whether Ashkenazi facial features OR they dont have those but wear eg kippahs)#arent like. white. idk pls correct me if this is antisemitic or incorrect or something.#but like. light skinned =/= white obviously.#i just struggle to see how my bestfriend with her lovely dark eyes and curls and nice nose counts as 'white' when ppl call her the k slur#across the street. ykwim?#like white doesnt mean light skinned. it means 'part of the in-group of white ppl'#like my ex who is white and jewish? yeah hes white. if he didnt wear his necklace then goyim wouldnt know. you know#like obvs he still experiences ethnic oppression but he doesnt experience racial oppression#but other ppl with more prominent eg ashkenazi (im singling them out bc most jewish ppl here are ash.) like i dont GET how they have racial#privilege.

Revisited a story that was very important to me as a child, and learned about the author being very vocal about the harm gender roles & stereotypes cause. I thought "oh that's great!" but was afraid. What if she only applied that logic to cis ppl?
I did some searching, and found out that not only does she support trans ppl, but has also spoken multiple times about how important it is to be able to see protagonists outside of the perceived norm. A.K.A., she doesn't see my very existence as wrong.
I let out a deep sigh of relief. I could continue to enjoy this thing that had been so important to me growing up.
But this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Too often I discover a new artist, or even be unsure of one I've enjoyed the work of for a long time up to the present; and I have to desperately search to know if I can enjoy their work. Either I am extremely relieved, or absolutely crushed.
This shouldn't be necessary. I shouldn't be feeling this deep fear that something so important to me, was created by someone who despises my very existence. That I, as a disabled queer femme ex-mormon Pagan witch who was raised like a girl, will be shoved off the emotional cliff of "this person you looked up to hates you for the same reason all bigots do".
I was so terrified that something that meant so much to me as a kid could've shattered me emotionally. Simply because I didn't know if the person who made it hates people like me.
We shouldn't have to live like this.

The way white Christians get all huffy when people call Christianity the white man's religion is telling. Be in denial all you want but Christianity has and continues to be a tool for racism and white supremacy.

This is a message for every person of color. Every person who worships or prays to a non-Christian deity, especially in the US. If y'all are just out here living your lives and/or praying to your gods, and some random ass white dude has the nerve to make you feel unsafe, I'll be there. I will use my pasty skin to deflect the racism. I will use my Christian upbringing to remind bigots under the name of Jesus that he would not stand for this. Don't you worry, I will stand by you. I will kneel with you while you pray. If a cop tries to lay hands on you I will get in the way. If some racist mother fucker starts shouting at you to go back to your own country I will distract them while you slip away. Whatever you need, whatever I can do, you let me know. I will do my damnedest to use the privilege I've been unjustly given to help make your experience equal to mine.

something that won't leave my head is - okay, i've been boycotting and my cousin has been as well (boycotting is her most accessible form of activism in the fight for Palestinian freedom). i rarely drank starbucks or ate mcdonald's, so nothing's changed for me beyond educating others and being like "ahh! boycott these places!!"
ok, ok, anyway...a few days ago my cousin tells me she got mcdonald's and i was like "uh we're boycotting them they give free meals to IOF." and she was like "yeah well i was really craving chicken nuggets."
and i was just sort of stunned because like...we're white americans who cannot control where our tax money goes, but we CAN control where our pocket money goes, and i was/am just SO INCREDIBLY disappointed. and like it's tied to whiteness. im sorry, but i cannot ignore the fact that white supremacism/colonialism are involved in this choice, regardless of whether or not my cousin is aware of it or not. like from a socio-economic standpoint, the interest of white people (in america) will always be upheld above the interests of people of color and that statement only multiples when we look at countries who aren't also Christian. like she's completely ignoring how her actions/her money have a direct correlation into the suffering of others and that as a white person, it's actually our duty to use that whiteness to our advantage in the fight for liberation (ex: during bml when white protestors would literally use their bodies as shields to protect the poc-protestors). like im aware that im rambling here, but like the least we can do is boycott in the LONG TERM. not boycott for a few months. but boycott for YEARS. boycott until they are OUT OF BUSINESS. and im just ...so....frustrated and disappointed and annoyed because its like "wow okay so your desire to have chicken nuggets is worth killing children over." LIKE WHAT!! because that's the reality!!
ugh i just had to get this out of my brain.

Honestly it's so baffling to me when people on this website claim that Misandry isn't real or men are all privileged oppressors and etc.
Like... I've been on this website for MANY years and I see, on a daily basis:
Jokes about how all men are awful at sex, don't know where the clitoris is, don't know where women urinate from, etc.
Jokes about men having small penises, being gross smelly neckbeards, and other types of body shaming
Posts about how men are all evil, violent rapists or that they will assault or rape someone with no hesitation if given the chance
Posts about how men are pedophiles, groomers, etc. for being interested in children's media or cartoons
Posts making fun of men for having "childish" hobbies like building legos, playing video games, etc.
Posts listing off dangerous, creepy things men do and the entire list is just different symptoms/signs of mental illnesses or learning disabilities
Literal posts about how men should all be eliminated/killed
I could go on and on. I almost lost one of my male friends to suicide because he had severe depression and started hating himself because EVERYONE was constantly reblogging posts about how awful/dangerous/evil men were.
Men DO face problems due to their gender, especially POC, trans, MLM, etc. men. They have basically zero resources if they're victims of abuse/assault/rape and in some places aren't even legally recognized as rape victims, are seen as disposable and not in need of protection and forced to do dangerous jobs, not to mention police violence against male minorities.
It's just so upsetting. I just wish people would be nice to each other and I don't understand why people act this way. It's not a black-and-white issue of "This group is full of dangerous monsters who need to be eliminated, and this group is full of innocent poor abuse victims and there is no nuance at all".
I'm sorry for ranting in your inbox about this, it just upsets me so much.
And, the problem is, some of these things are well earned by men who refuse to do better.
An ex of mine admitted sometimes he had a hard time finding the clit on past encounters with others and funny enough when I was like "bro how it's RIGHT THERE" he was like "stfu yours is HUGE it's unmissable ok of course I could find yours it's the first thing I saw when you took off your clothes they're not usually that big" which is how I got the first hint that I'm intersex. And in fairness some people are just very small- a trans guy I know has occasionally struggled when in an encounter with someone pre-T or no-T and it's effectively microscopic because that's just how that person's body works.
But I've also known cis men who genuinely think girls pee out of their vaginas [again, in fairness, lack of sex ed due to conservative christian upbringing + cis men do in fact pee out of their sexual organ so it's not that big of a logical leap to make], who don't understand literally anything about menses [again, all emissions from a penis are more or less controllable + the concept of uncontrollable bleeding from a penis for a week straight would have most guys in the ER + lack of sex ed], "what size pussy you wear" type dudes [which, again, for all penis-equivilant things, knowing the size does matter]... as well as women who are unsatisfied by their partners' performances and yet refuse to tell them.
I'm not on tiktok but one crossed my dash of a black guy saying he had no idea that when girls put their hands on his abdomen while he's having sex with them, it's because he's hurting them and they're trying to push him away, because of the angle there's just no leverage to actually push. He thought it was encouragement to go harder. His current partner explained it and he immediately felt so terrible thinking back on all the times he's unknowingly hurt someone for his pleasure. Communication is a two-way street, how was this man supposed to improve if his partners are not communicating "when I do this I want you to stop because you're hurting me"?
Yes, some men are just allergic to giving their partners pleasure, and are inherently selfish in bed. But, also, I myself have hard lines I draw and I'm not willing to cross them even if my partner really wants me to. And some of these lines *are* acts that are very common to find in most bedrooms. Again, communication- is he actually allergic to eating pussy because he thinks vaginas are inherently disgusting outside of when his dick's inside one and he doesn't think girls can orgasm, or is he just incredibly turned off by that act but is more than willing to experiment in other ways to bring his partner pleasure? One of these guys is a pissbaby and the other is just a dude with a boundary.
Big sigh.
Now that I am around men, cis men, more often, I find that like in everything there's nuance and perspective.

one thing ive learned about being a ex christian whos a poc is that white theists will talk over you any chance they get and project all their feelings about christianity onto you while ignoring how youve also been hurt by it in favor of their own feelings

so about this time 3 years ago was when i left the religious cult i had been in for 12 years. the most instrumental part of my personal deconstruction process is something i have never seen discussed in religious deconstruction circles. it's the simple truth that you can deconstruct your religion without abandoning your worldview.
that means that it is completely okay to leave your faith behind in entirety, but it's also okay to hold true to parts of that faith you really do believe, e.g., believing in a god/particular scripture while rejecting the inherently harmful parts of that belief system that don't actually line up with what you believe and who you are post-deconstruction.
obviously this process is not the same for every religion, and i'm really just speaking to what i came from (a very convoluted form of evangelical Christianity). but in that specific regard, you can absolutely believe in God/the Bible and also reject precepts that were added after the fact (views on queerness, women, poc, etc.).
i say this because i wasted so much time staying in a physically and mentally harmful situation by not understanding that i could both believe in God and not be a part of an organization that was using me.
lol idk if there are any other ex-fundies or religious deconstructors on this app but i hope you see this if you need it.

I just wish that people would listen to the groups they speak for- or talk about.
This goes for literally everything.
Do not talk over autistics on autism if you're an allistic without a degree.
Do not talk over pwDID on DID if you're not a pwDID and don't have a degree and aren't citing any real sources.
Do not talk over Endogenic Plurals on their experiences if you are not an endogenic plural or specifically that individuals therapist or doctor or religious authority (dependent upon the practice).
Do not talk over religious people when you are not religious and do not know anything about the religion or practice you are assigning Christian aspects to.
Do not talk over cult survivors if you are not an ex-cult member or a professional on the matter.
Do not talk over trans people on their experiences if you are cis and are not a psychologist or surgeon for that demographic.
Do not talk over gay people if you are straight.
Do not talk over POC if you are white.
Do not talk over polyamarous people if you are monogamous.

hello again (and sorry for the spelling mistakes in the last askes btw english is hard )
spoiler warning tooo!!
i don't know if you saw the hazbin lakes nor do i know if they are real or have been tampered with but looking the 'angels ' designs they look horrible compared to the demons (ik i was shocked too )
i didn't read everything about them but so far the only unique ones are the exterminators
and adem could have been any other canon angel or a made up one the ex wife / girlfriend joke with lilith isn't promising
I saw them too and the designs are undermining. This is the same Heaven where bright colorful angels like the CHERUBS exist yet the angels' color palette consist of dull and wash-out colors. Another thing I noticed is how the angels don't have the same purple lines and glow as the CHERUBS do. I alway like those design details for the CHERUBS because it give distinctions between the imps and how they're from Heaven. But since it seems the CHERUBS only has them. I think the CHERUBS will have be an Andrealphus's design problem where they will stand like a sore thumb next to the angels because their line art is different. Another problem I have with the angels' design is it's going to be hard to tell which angels are in the hierarchy.
Context: In Catholicism and Christianity, there is a hierarchy with nine different ranked angels species, whose roles are vastly different from each other.
One of the angels (The tall, responsible one) seem to be a higher ranked than the short one but it's hard to tell because they both have the same outfit. Which is weird to me because Viv loves to overdesign her characters, you would think she would use the excuse of giving the high ranked angels detailed designs as a way to differentiate them from the low ranked ones. The last problem I have with the designs is Viv's trademark of not giving POC characters POC features and giving them the most ashy skintone to exist. I don't even know what excuse the fans can pull for the POC angels because in both Catholicism and Christianity, there are seven human looking angel species with actual skin tones and different hair textures.

I just finished The Bone Clocks and I'm a weepy mess. What a luxurious read. Every book I love hits me in at least one weak spot (things I either deeply love or deeply fear), but Bone Clocks was punching the whole set: science fiction, protecting children, tragic dads, Bush-era trauma, medievalism, jaded characters with one sliver of humanity left, characters who are very good but deeply angry, characters who are very bad but deeply guilty, realistic "immortal" characters, devastating near-future apocalypse, satisfying payoff to a distant setup, and, most heartbreaking, our brilliant young fool becomes old and sad. I'm almost feeling more like this thing read me. There's even a quote that contradicts that feeling in the book, something like, "Books can talk but do not listen." Are you sure, book?
I did find the grounded parts of the story much more compelling than the fantastical parts. I feel like this is partially intended by the author and partially the result of me growing old and boring. So I appreciated that the coolest things about the fantastic powers are their limitations. Every miracle has to come with confusion and tragedy. If I were writing, I would have made the "good" magical group more clearly flawed.
I'm also wary of the role of race in this story, as POC are less fully realized than white characters -- more often temporary hosts for immortal souls than true individuals (as in "Get Out" or "Soul"). There's also this strange attitude toward spirituality, that illogical Western beliefs (Jesus, God) are obviously wrong but mysterious Eastern beliefs (reincarnation, third eye) are kinda true; I remember someone else observed this assumption in "The Good Place," and you can see it in a lot of sci-fi by ex-Christian (?) white people.
