8. Is there anything about post-Flashpoint canon you prefer to pre-Flashpoint canon? Be honest.
I like Tim's current personality and path in life better than what Red Robin had him on.
Look, Red Robin is a fantastic series, don't get me wrong, but Tim fucking miserable for almost the entire book and while it makes sense given what he was going through, they didn't really get to run long enough for him to truly heal and I. Don't like that. It makes me miss my sweet, gentle, brainy boy who truly believes in second chances and redemption and in negotiating peaceful solutions whenever he can and while he's still there in RR, he's trapped under so much pain and self-denial and isolation and it makes me sad!
So I like that he's Robin again, and I like that he's been allowed to start exploring his sexuality and that it led to his relationship with Bernard, and I like that he gets to be the earnest Robin who saves Batman again. And I wish people would stop trying to force him to be something he's not purely for some arbitrary presumption of 'maturity.'

Sitting at your desk, you wrote in the case files before you. Suddenly a bright red light buzzed from your computer, reading 'Timeline fracture -- Alternate timeline detected'. Frantically, you accessed the system to reveal the location of such an anomaly. Sighing in annoyance, you collected the case files, letters that had sat on the corner of your desk, and your bag before opening a time portal to the location.
Alarms rang as you walked into the cortex, scrolling through documents on your tablet. You sat down on a chair you had dragged out from the med bay, facing the door when the suspects in question arrived.
"Who the hell are you?" A man in a tight red suit asked, the rest of the group holding a weapon in your direction.
"Please put the weapons down. I'm here for a Mr. Allen. Mr. Bartholomew Henry Allen." You explained calmly before pointing at the man in the red suit. "Which, I take it, is you, sir. I also assume that your friends here are Francisco Ramon, Dr Caitilin Snow, Joe, Wally, and Iris West."
"What do you want?" Mr. Allen asked, removing the mask from his face, and glaring at you.
"I am simply here to hand you this letter and to tell you that you and your compatriots are due for a trial for your crimes against the timeline." You stated, taking out a small stack of letters from your bag and attempting to hand it to the group. As you attempted to hand the papers, the group moved away from you. Raising an eyebrow, you simply placed the documents on the table before moving back.
"Who are you?" Cisco asked cautiously, watching you step back.
"My name is Y/N. Y/N Thawne." You replied, causing the group to step back from you in shock. Joe raised his gun at your head, shooting a bullet straight at you. Within a split second, you caught the bullet between your thumb and index finger. Moving your hand down to your side, you looked at the group in disappointment and veiled annoyance.
"W...What are you doing?" Wally asked as he watched you take out your tablet and start typing.
"None of you seem to be very receptive to me being here so I am calling in my partner. Perhaps he will have better luck." You replied, looking up at the group sharply.
"Your husband is a psychopath, who killed my mother!" Barry iterated for the seventh time since you revealed your name. You shook your head and rolled your eyes in annoyance. You noticed a time portal opening from behind the group and called out to your partner,
"E. I had no idea you were a psychopath or that you killed Nora Allen."
"I had no idea either." Your partner replied, causing the group to turn around in shock at the familiar voice.
"Eddie?!" Iris called out, walking towards Eddie, who walked past the group and wrapped an arm around your waist. A streak of red lightning followed Eddie as a man in yellow stopped next to him.
"Oh, Crap." The man in yellow exclaimed as he took his mask off.
"Hold it right there, Eobard." You and Eddie scolded the man, as he was about to run off once more.
"... Hello." Eobard smiled, waving mockingly at Team Flash.
"He's a murderer!" Barry yelled, his eyes tearing up as he pointed at Eobard. "Why would you let him out?!"
"Technically yes. But his actions are the ones that we told him to take." You explained before turning to Eobard. "And Eo, take that damn illusion off."
"Fine." He replied, before pressing a button on his watch. Team Flash watched in shock as Eobard seemed to get younger until he was a teenager. "Better, Mum? Dad?"
"Much." You and Eddie replied before opening a time portal back to your offices.
"She was my mother! And your son murdered her!" Barry yelled at the trio, causing you to turn with a slightly sympathetic look on your face.
"I mean this in the nicest way possible but your mother was essentially timeline collateral. Her death is a fixed point in time. As you can tell, messing with such events can have devasting effects." You replied before speeding away with Eobard, leaving behind purple lightning.
"Try not to mess with the timeline anymore, Allen. You've already created masses of paperwork." Eddie replied before leaving in blue lightning.
Upon entering your office, Eobard looked at you and Eddie in mock innocence.
"Love you, Mum and Dad."
"You're grounded... And no Barty." You told Eobard, exchanging a smirk with Eddie.
"What, no Barty?!" Eobard exclaimed, shocked.
"No Barty." Eddie repeated. Eobard left the room, his red lightning following him. Eddie pulled you into his arms and pressed his lips to yours. His left hand held yours, your matching golden wedding rings glistening in the light.
Months went by until you were interrupted once more by a bright red light buzzing from your computer. Your desk was cluttered with paperwork regarding Flashpoint and the new changes to the timeline that had to be recorded and analyzed.
"What?" You called out, bemused as you looked at the computer.
'Timeline fracture -- Death of individual too early'
'Location: Infantino Street'
"What?!" You exclaimed as you read the notice. Eddie walked up behind you, his chin on your shoulder.
'Harrison "HR" Wells (Earth 19) - Deceased May 23, 2017'
"WHAT?!" You and Eddie yelled, eyes wide in shock.

once again thinking about jason as duke’s robin. he’s ~4 years younger than jason, and that’s puts him at 8-12 during Jason’s time as robin. that’s prime time to get attached to your local kid vigilante before your own life goes downhill.
and if we try to keep duke’s meeting with bruce in zero year + duke’s age (so he can remember the meeting and hold that conversation with bruce), he has to be around 8. if he starts following batman through the news at that time because of the mess that just happened, the robin he sees is probably jason. I’ve literally connected the dots

i do get a bit bitchy when people act like jason is stupid or lazarus mad or w/e for having doubts bruce loves him even if we back it up to pre utrh when bruce hasnt done...all that he's done from then on till now *gestures*. bc well. after all that no wonder lmao. anyway
like consider the end of jason's robin run w/ how bruce was acting & the things that were said (even if you don't want to consider the 'i'm not your father/teenage rebellion line from the later comics, bruce handled everything in the 80s...not great! it's no wonder an already traumatized kid might not handle that kind of response well. even if bruce meant the best (i think he did!) he handled it like shit lol).
it's literally what led him to sheila...who bruce didnt even know he was after, or like. where & what jason was doing at the time when he ran into him later.
then compound that with learning the joker is still out! still breaking out! and hurting people. and that there's a new robin. nothing has changed! you died and came back and everything is still the exact same!
and i think all of this stuff happening right before his death + finding out right after he was back was not great. that's a huge trauma to be dealing with + you feel like you weren't important? it's gonna compound
like i don't think it's stupid that he feels unwanted! there are warranted reasons for that pre utrh.

wait wdym dc didn't stick with Red Robin for Tim [and the de-aging thing?] what are they calling him if not RR?
He's been Robin again since 2019 😬 it's a bit more complicated but that's the gist of it.
Okay so Tim became Red Robin in the 2009-2011 series of the same name, back in the post-Crisis timeline. He was supposedly 17 at the time, by official records, and I believe he was still supposed to be 17 when the universe was rebooted with Flashpoint in 2011? (Although this doesn't really make any sense with respect to jamming the huge number of events that happened while he was Robin into like four years, if he was supposed to have become Robin at 13; he should probably at least be 18 if not 19-20).
The Flashpoint reboot took us into the New 52 (much beloathed), where nearly everyone was de-aged to some extent to keep Bruce Wayne and his generation from getting ~too old~, and also Tim Drake was mangled into a completely different character who had never been "Robin"; he'd been "Red Robin" right from the start of his vigilante career. He was de-aged to 16 for the New 52 Teen Titans series.
Tumblr media
Teen Titans (2011) #0; as you can see, this version of Red Robin kept a version of the bandoliers and gave Tim a fancy new functional wing cape that he could fly around with.
Next, Rebirth in 2016 was a partial reboot that brought back some aspects of the post-Crisis timeline; tbh I'm not an expert on this period. What I do know is that Tim mainly appears in James Tynion IV's run of Detective Comics that ran from 2016 to 2018. During this period Tim was still called Red Robin, but he'd basically reverted to a Robin costume, with only the silly doubled "RR" symbol identifying him as not ~actually~ Robin winkwink nudgenudge, and as I understand it he was mostly back to functioning as Bruce's partner.
Tynion's run ends in Detective Comics #981 with Tim telling Bruce that he's going off to Ivy University. (He's totally lying, as Tim Drake does; Alfred notices that his tracker is going off in the opposite direction of the university, but Bruce is like "I trust him" and turns the tracker off. Yay, I guess?)
Anyway the important bit is this revealing that Tim is 'going-off-to-college' age. Which could still reasonably be anywhere from 17-19, and DC being DC, they ~refuse to confirm~
Tumblr media
Tim as Red Robin on the cover of Detective Comics #934 (2016); as you can see, he's pretty much Robin again lol
Tumblr media
Detective Comics #968 (2018); another shot of his "basically Robin" Red Robin costume
In 2019 we got the actual return of Tim as Robin (no "Red") in Brian Michael Bendis's Young Justice run, re-uniting the Core Four from YJ 1998.
Tumblr media
Young Justice (2019) #1
As you can see, he no longer has the doubled 'RR', and he confirms that he's Robin - "Well, one of them!" I think he's supposed to be filling in as the Gotham Robin while Damian is running around the world having adventures and presumably getting into trouble, as Robins do? idk.
Tim also chases down his erased post-Crisis past at the beginning of this arc, having Zatanna magically restore (most of) his memories of the previous timeline, and, crucially, his forgotten best friend Kon, kickstarting some plot.
Tim, and all of the Young Justice crew, are notably young-looking for almost the entirety of this run. It varies based on the artist, but uh, yeah for the most part they are really damn baby-faced. This is a trend that continues with Tim and his generation of friends from this point onward, so fans have basically thrown up their hands like "is he 17 forever???? is he Edward Cullen from Twilight???? is he aging backward????"
We Just Don't Know
In any case, Bendis makes DC's next attempt to give Tim his own identity in short order, giving us the hilarious, ill-fated, and rightfully short-lived "Drake" identity.
Tumblr media
Young Justice (2019) #10
He's back to being Robin by issue #18, hilariously switching costumes from one page to the next, although some time has apparently passed during the scene transition.
Tumblr media
Young Justice (2019) #18; Jinny: "Is Drake back to being Robin?" Kon: "I think Batman and Spoiler made him go back to Robin. Don't bring it up. And say thank you because we didn't have to have the Drake intervention we were planning."
And as of the current date (July 13, 2023), Tim is still in the Robin identity, sharing it with Damian ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ God knows how old he's supposed to be right now. I certainly don't.
Tumblr media
Batman (2016) #136; the most recent issue out to date, with Tim suiting up as Robin while filling Bruce in after diving into a bunch of parallel dimensions to bring Bruce home.
As you can see, it's a Mess. The Tim Drake's Vigilante Identity question is of course a hotbed of wank and infighting, as people are torn between (a) wanting him to continue as Robin and (b) wanting him to move on and "grow up" into his own identity again (and, importantly, leave Damian as the sole Robin again, lol).
It feels like most people are for option (b), but then nobody can agree on what his next identity and costume should be. Red Robin again?? Some other bird-based identity that doesn't share a name with a major restaurant chain?? Something else entirely??
God only knows what DC is going to come up with, especially after the Drake fiasco.
And there you have it, Anon! Hope that was helpful.

one thing I loved to do when watching the flash as it aired was try and figure out how to get Len to reappear in the show + I love pov outsider so one of the funniest situations I had would be len reappearing early on during Julian Albert’s time on the show.
ideally the time stream drops len back into central city before Julian joins team flash, but after Barry knows len’s dead (because I like pain.) so based on episode air dates I think that’s between 29th November, 2016 (invasion crossover when ray tells Barry) and 6th December ( the midseason finale of season three is I think when julian is free from savitar/alchemy?) Len’s been dead since 12th May, so the time stream keeps him for like six and a half months before spitting him back out?
anyways, julian already dislikes Barry because he’s chronically late, probably got his job through nepotism, keeps taking personal calls during work hours, keeps clocking out early to deal with flash stuff etc etc etc (and as alchemy he hates the flash so there’s probably some subconscious memory of that too)
and once Barry finds out that len is alive that boy is DELIGHTED. He died a hero’s death he KNEW there was GOOD IN HIM. And he was so emo about his fav villain being dead but now he’s BACK :D
with Len’s records being deleted (which julian finds extremely suspicious) and anything after that cleared by the president (was everyone getting presidential pardons canon or fanon? I forget, but either way you know Barry would push to get len a posthumous one) he’s off the hook for his father’s murder and then breaking out of prison. So now Len’s just waltzing into Barry’s lab (read: break in via the windows because why would he want to see the cops on the ground floor when he doesn’t have to) and Barry’s crimes (being late, having guests in the lab, leaving early) increases manifold. Julian is So Pissed.
he talks to singh about it but technically there’s nothing he can do, and the one person that would be on his side re: the snart thing is Joe, who has to keep the flash secret from him (and is also Barry’s father, seriously this must be nepotism?) so julian has no allies in his crusade against the Barry/Len bickering/flirting that he is forced to witness
I literally have no plot to this except pissing julian off tbh (it may only be a week but it’s the worst week of his life) (if anything the Barry is the flash reveal goes worse because hello???? That is a clear conflict of interest Barry??? Why are you So Bad at being an enforcer of the law?????) (this is all part of my acab agenda and Barry just permanently resigns from the ccpd ☺️)

damian wayne & hiro okamura are such a missed opportunity. he was still supposed to be working as bruce's tech guy or whatever when damian showed up. they could've met. they SHOULD'VE met. perfect for each other in all the worst possible ways. chaos levels previously unknown to man. they would absolutely end up blowing up at least one wing of wayne manor within a week of meeting each other. tim has probably had nightmares about this exact scenario

Here is some fun math!
Barbara Gordon first appeared in Detective Comics #359, making her debut as Batgirl. It was published January 1967.
21 years (and 6 months) later, Barbara retired as batgirl in Batgirl Special #1, published June 1988.
Barbara was Batgirl for 21 years.
One year later, she is Oracle, appearing in Suicide Squad #28, published January 1989.
Flashpoint (starting July 2011) rebooted the universe and she was Batgirl again.
Making Barbara Gordon Oracle for 22 years.
She was Oracle longer than she was Batgirl in real life.
