you had spent the entire rest of that second day in bed. you canceled the meeting you had planned, and just sat in bed. you slept a little, cried a little, and most of all, you had texted with tom occasionally. he checked in almost every hour of the day. 

when you woke up the day after that, you woke up to no notifications. so you decided to check social media. bad idea. after a few scrolls, another post from tmz popped up. but it wasn't about you and tom. instead, it read: 

RACHEL ZEGLER AND TOM BLYTH DATING RUMORS ARISE. 

you couldn't breath, but you couldn't stop yourself, so you scrolled more. 

THESE TWO STARS SEEM TO BE DATING, HERES ALL THE PROOF YOU NEED. 

you simply began to cry. with tears in your eyes, you clicked on every link you saw. social media was sucking you in. each and every article had photos of them, the way they looked at each other, the way they were each single, the way he hugged her. god. the way he hugged her. even you had noticed it. the only time he had ever given you something similar to that was two nights ago, after the party.  you felt the tears finally run down your cheek.

he had told you. he had told you that he wanted you. well, he had told you enough. and now, a little over a day later, people are talking about them.  the movie had been out for weeks now. why are people suddenly all over them? even press was done.  it was confusing. it was confusing, and shocking, and it was really stressing you out. worst of all, tom hadn't reached out. not once. it was already noon. so either he was ignoring you, or he was somehow not up yet, even though told you he always wakes up early. one of those sounded more plausible.  

you felt like throwing your phone across the room. of course the texts started coming in, from your friends. but none from rachel. none from tom. so you did. you threw your phone on to the edge of the bed, and got up. to distract yourself, you were going to take a self care day. 

extensive skincare, a bath with soaks, everything shower, hair routine. the works.  you started with your hair routine. there was something soothing about putting so much effort into yourself. that got you thinking. there was no reason to put this effort into yourself, and not show it off. 

you were going to pull a princess diana "revenge dress." 

it took almost four hours to do everything. you picked out an amazing outfit that you had been saving for a "special day." you just had it ready, waiting in your closet. it had been there for almost a year now, and today was the day you were going to wear it. you thought it was pretty badass. 

when you fixed your hair and fixed your lashes, and finally sprayed your perfume, you were ready. you were going to go shopping. treat yourself. and you were going to make sure people saw you. by that, you, or one of your friends, was going to alert the paparazzi. you were going to shop up and down rodeo drive. 

you got in your car, got to beverly hills, parked, and started your day. starting at hermes, you bought yourself a bracelet, a blanket, and a scarf. your favorite associate was working, and they had let you in on the fact that they had a birkin bag. in store, and they wanted to give it to you. even better.  when you finally checked out, owning your new birkin. when you left the store, there were paparazzi. and lots of them. it was perfect. 

with the paparazzi following, you made your way to chanel. you decided to only purchase one thing there. next, was prada. you purchased a pair of loafers, a bag, and a few pieces of clothes. the crowd was getting bigger and bigger with each store you left. the security guards of the stores eventually had to help you get in and out. 

Leaving prada, you crossed the street. it was time for van cleef and arpels. you had always wanted a piece.  and today was the day you were going to get it. when you walked in, they greeted you and showed you to the necklaces. but you already knew what you wanted. the 10 motif. the vintage alhambra necklace. it was your dream necklace. if not now, then when? 

at some point during the checkout, you became hesitant. but that quickly went away. the second you stopped thinking about your plan, you would think about tom. and rachel. so, you kept shopping. you didn't want to deal with that right now. however, you figured this was going to be your last stop. you starting struggling to carry the bags. 

when you took your card out of the reader, and they handed you your bag, you took a breath. then, you went outside. it was a long walk back to your car, with the paparazzi. you took another deep breath, and made your way outside. this time, they started talking to you. you heard things along the lines of:

"what have you bought?"

"what are you wearing?"

"why the sudden spree?"

"is this about rachel and tom?" that one caught your ear. you turned to the man who had asked it, looked in his camera, and shrugged. then, you walked away. you made it all the way to your car, silent, without answering any questions. when you got to the parking garage, you made sure no one got in the elevator with you. what you didn't need, was people following you home. 

you took the back alley out, so they wouldn't find you.

when you got home, you pr team was not very happy with you. because, just like you planned, people were talking about this. and yes, they were getting the idea you had planted. not five minutes after you got home did you see posts: 

ACTRESS Y/N TREATS HERSELF AFTER DATING RUMORS OF HER CO-STAR ARISE.  

THEY WERE OUT TO COFFEE. NOW, HE'S RUMORED TO BE DATING SOMEONE ELSE, AND SHE DOES NOT SEEM HAPPY ABOUT IT. 

SHOPPING SPREE AFTER RUMORS REMINDS FANS OF PRINCESS DIANA.  that one was your favorite. clearly, you had gotten your point across perfectly.  you felt empowered. and this was perfect, because you were going to have to see tom, rachel, and josh at the golden globes tomorrow. while none of you were nominated, you, along with the cast, were invited.  hopefully tom would do the talking tomorrow.

after an entire afternoon of calls from your agents and pr team yelling at you for your behavior, you began to slump back into sadness.  you really were devastated, and it was hitting you now. neither of them had made a post yet, denying what was going on, which only fueled the fire more. also, your little stunt was hitting tiktok, which meant even more of your friends began to notice what you did. you got a little overwhelmed. maybe the impulsive move was a mistake. you realized that this may have made tom upset, or even rachel. 

you had no idea what was going to happen tomorrow. there was a part of you that was excited, but there was also a part of you that just wanted to hide away again. you weren't sure which feeling was going to prevail tomorrow night. .

Hair - a middle part with a bang , teasing the fuck out of it to give it lots of volume , dying it and adding racoon tails !

Makeup ! Any bright color blended with black for the eyes , thick eyeliner , some sparkly freckles ! Scene makeup generally is simple , most of the glam being on the eyes ! Amber is the og and i remember watching her tutorials all the time ...

listen, you know they do not play. When I say ‘it’ couple, I mean it.

like it’s definitely an event when the two of you pop out. I’m talking DRESSED down..all the designer, all the ice and being escorted. His assistant has to call in advance before you even arrive to let them know and they most certainly prepare accordingly..pulling out everything above the average tax bracket because when Mr. Jaeger shops, oh he SHOPS. Ain’t no budget, no limit and the only the finest is touching him or his lady. Granted, you had your own money and worked hard but it’d be a cold day in hell before he let you touch a cent of it. (yes, he will laugh in your face if you even so much as suggest it) So you arrive at the mall, surrounded by an entourage of security and helpers…Lennox, Magic Mall, it don’t matter, y’all gone run up a bag regardless and whatever his baby wants, it’s yours. Because you’re still trying to adjust to this level of fame and notoriety, you think it’s a bit much you quickly understand why it’s necessary. Holding hands as you guys walk into the jewelry store, it’s immediately closed to the public eye, guarded to the highest degree and ready for y’all to browse to your hearts content. The attendant is top tier giving white glove service, holding up different watches and chains..letting them glisten underneath the lights. “Only our finest for my favorite customers.” Not one diamond is cloudy and it’s nothing for him to spend a half a mil there. Turning to you to ask your opinion since he’ll buy you one to match his fly as well. “What you think, princess? Like it?” And it’s the most beautiful piece of jewelry you’ve ever seen with the biggest price tag to boot. Still, he’s very particular and probably spends an hour until he finds the right piece. Going store to store, completely empty per his request so you can browse to your hearts content..new handbags, heels, dresses, lingerie…I mean letting you swipe that card left and right and does not bat an eyelash. If you look like you’re hesitating or he sees you staring real hard at something before putting it back, he tells his assistant to double back and grab it. His favorite though, is watching you exit the dressing room in various ensembles, looking fine as hell in each one. “Baby, how’s this one look?” and of course, he’s pleased and knowing nine times out of ten, he’ll be tearing you out of it anyways. Sitting sprawled out, smirk on his face..he asks to see it from every angle. “Spin around f’r me, I need to see it from the back.” cause the ass is always SITTING. And of course, y’all have so much fun, joking and playing around in the process. (side note: you try to hit him with that age old corny joke, ‘does my butt look big in this and he responds ‘hell yeah, buy it.’) Buying everything from Gucci, Rick Owens, Prada..you name it. Even doing coordinating fits (because let’s be fr, y’all be putting that shit on.) when it’s time to leave and load back up in the chauffeured, blacked out Audi..the line of matching SUV’s are full of the items you all brought with receipts a mile long. With those newly acquired Rolex’s, he lets you take a picture for the Gram with your hands splayed over each other..catching your wedding rings in the shot. He loves his work regardless but it’s the moments like this that make it all the more worth it.

you know better than to look at instagram comments nowadays. it was fine before you started dating austin, albeit maybe the few problem comments but since you started dating what was supposed to be the most eligible bachelor post-vaustin break up? your comments had turned into a war zone. still, you couldn't pass up posting the picture of you and austin in your costumes for halloween because you were proud of them. proud of how you both looked in the outfits. had it taken some convincing on your part to have him dress up as the gomez to your morticia? yes, but he knew that's what you had your heart set on and- he was never one to deny you if you wanted something that bad. even if he had a few misgivings about being gomez.

you found yourself at a party the night before and after being sent the pics from everyone you decided to post them and forget about it until the next afternoon. that had perhaps been your mistake because you know better than to leave your comments alone for that period of time. but you also wanted to enjoy spending the day with your boyfriend because since elvis it was so rare that you two had a fairly large chunk of uninterrupted time together.

austin's in the kitchen making- well he says it's a surprise, but you smell and hear him popping the kernels but you'll let him pretend you have no idea about the popcorn he's popping for the movie you plan on watching. you allow yourself to open your phone instead of just staring at the menu screen for the film and in hindsight you really shouldn't have. the first thing you see when you open up instagram is all the comments there's one from ashley that's just a heart eyes emoji and a fire emoji and several from your friends of just straight fire and one from vanessa and olivia just with a simple chef's kiss. you see some more support so you scroll down and that's where the problem starts.

you keep scrolling, thinking it'll get better only to see more and more comments comparing your picture to vanessa and austin. comparing you to vanessa and several saying that austin should have never gotten together with you.

you've- you've gotten used to these comments by now, you have because there wasn't an option to not be used to these comments. they're going to be there whether or not austin and you address them. it's- you've learned to live with them as far as you know. except today they sting, maybe it's the fact that were so excited to share the costumes and you have austin here with you for once to hold and to kiss for the whole day with no interruptions except apparently these stupid comments.

austin will know if you start crying, he'll hear your sniffle and he'll come rushing, forgetting about popcorn he's working on so diligently for you you and you can't have that. your eyes are already starting to blur with the unshed tears and you take a breath before you get up and start heading to the bathroom. "heading to the bathroom, baby, i'll be right back." you quickly say as you make your escape to the bedroom and then the bathroom.

if austin immediately notices, he doesn't say anything and he doesn't follow you into the bathroom like he would if he knew what was going on. you let yourself cry in the comfort of the bathroom, sinking to the floor and curling in on yourself. you feel a little like a young teenage girl, trying to hide away from things but right now with those comments swirling around like an expert witch's potion designed to hurt you? you can't help it.

you're not sure how much time passes before you hear austin on the other end of the door.

"baby. i'm coming in." he says, pushing open the door and leaving you no room to debate with him. he looks toward the toilet thinking he's going to see you there only to find you on the floor your eyes bloodshot puffy while your nose is just dripping snot. you've been crying this whole time and he hadn't checked on you until he saw the comments open on your phone. he holds it up and shakes it in his hand. "you forgot this."

your eyes widen and you can't help how you immediately start to bite your lower lip partially out of comfort, partially out of embarrassment and partially because you're not one hundred percent sure you're not going to start crying again if you don't have something else to focus on. "tell me you didn't-"

"see your instagram? and the comments? i did." he answers simply before getting down on the floor next to you and opening his arms for you to burrow into his embrace. "you know- vanessa liked the post, loved the post and you looked gorgeous babe. you're not-"

"a thrift store vanessa? standing next to her prada austin?" you spit out as you curl into his arms. "we're just a walmart-"

"stop." he shakes his head. "first, i'm going to remind you that using those terms as an insult against anything i'm involved in a joke since i had to shop at all three. second, sweetheart- i love you and if anything i'm the thrift shop boy standing next to his gucci girl."

you sniffle and burrow your face in his chest. "you're not."

"but you are?" he counters, shifting just enough that he can get his hand underneath your chin, forcing you to look up at him. "you're the trash everyone thinks?"

the answer is on the tip of your tongue. it's a quick no, because you're not trash, you haven't truly and honestly thought that since you were younger but you falter and are struck by the fact that maybe you're thinking you are after reading all those comments. instead you settle for what you think is the truth in this precise moment. "maybe?"

austin's eyes narrow and he nuzzles at your nose before giving you a soft kiss on the lips. he pulls away for a brief second to study you and shakes his head before placing another kiss on both of your cheeks and then your nose and your forehead before a final one on your lips again. "no."

"it just hurts, austin. i want to share you and our relationship with the world-" you're cut off by another kiss and austin putting his finger on your lips.

"and what's stopping you? you know i'm not a big social media guy, used to do it for 'nessa but you don't mind if i'm not. i don't mind you posting us, i'd post something once in a while if you want but they comments are gonna be there." he sighs and cups your cheek. "the question you've got to ask yourself is do you want to show us off or do you want to hide because of people deciding you're my rebound and that i'll ride into the sunset with vanessa. when trust me-"

"you won't. i remember." the story of their break up, you mean. "you're- i don't want to hide. i want to be open about this, i love you and i-"

you stop yourself, because you two hadn't even been dating a year so saying that you've thought about him marrying you feels like a bit much. austin peers at you and raises an eyebrow. "and you what?"

you feel the heat of your cheeks and feel your embarrassment rush to the surface. your answer comes out as a muffled whisper. "i wouldn't mind riding off into the sunset with you."

the chuckle that comes out of austin is quiet but you feel the vibrations in his chest when he does it. it's- calming in a way nothing else had been since he sat down. you feel your brain's constant swirl of thoughts calm into a simple pool of water. a hum leaves your mouth unbidden before austin moves a hand to pet your hair. "i wouldn't mind doing that either. but, before then, i have some popcorn and a movie with our name on it wanna come join me or is everyone else going to win?"

you pull away and just give austin a look before blinking slowly. "carry me to the couch and i suppose i can let everyone else lose."

he smiles ever so slightly as he stands up and without giving you a single bit of warning picks you up bridal style as you let out what he will swear is a squeal and what you will say was a startled shout. you're still making the noise until he plops you onto the couch and flops right next to you with a flurry of kisses.

and if later on that night after you were sleeping austin posted a photo of you curled up in your shared bed looking like an angel? well, that was his business. especially when the caption was simply:

That attention they give her like novacane. Gorgeous face, but it is what’s behind her that they see as beauty. Get played with like Barbie to live in a dream house. She sets her sights on big wallets and snapping photogs. Strutting around like her “ish” don’t stink; Bragging that she is the baddest b****. But last time I checked, men don’t marry dogs. What happens when the glitter is not gold? When the limelight dims and the fifteen minutes fade abrupt. Those so-called “Ballers” that promised her a spot on their team, Got their feels, and then passed her off like a lay-up. She can’t get enough. Hopefully she will finally realize her true potential, Want more for herself. Deep condition her mind like a head full of curls. In that she will fix the way they define her and gain strength.
