The audacity to be like "there's a problem with racism in transandrophobia discussions" while also unironically using the term "transandrophobia truther(s)"

I think it's really funny when europeans criticise the us-centrism in history education in the usa because. if you've seen our own history education you've seen it is usually incredibly eurocentric. the pot calling the kettle black and whatnot

It is a terrible thing for an entire people to surrender to the notion that one-ninth of its population is beneath them.

can people stop using travis’ majorly poc friend circle to prove that taylor isn’t racist? 1) poc people are not tokens 2) we already know she isn’t. and on the other end of the spectrum, can people stop being passively racist towards travis’ friends? it’s clear as day.
also, while we’re on the topic, there’s nothing wrong with taylor hanging out with other WAGs (news flash: she herself is also a wag!). everyone is a feminist till it comes to women deciding that they wanna be a stay-at-home wife and support their partner’s heavily demanding career. being a feminist is supporting women in whatever decision they make. additionally, not to mention, so many wags do cool stuff on their own and do indeed have jobs (real estate brokers to having their own teams to nurses to doing philanthropic work, etc etc).

Honestly when you’re a black person who’s into all types of media (anime, gaming, books, etc) you just gotta choose the least racist media and pray that the fans are all normal about black people

can we talk about the trend in fandoms where the characters of color (especially men of color) always have to be like, sex gods?? always the buff confident top. sometimes very overtly sexually aggressive even if it goes against their characterization. can 2024 be the year we quit doing that

AND ANOTHER THING please think for 30 seconds about having Mickey and Javy be the ones to objectify your innocent/shy/sweet self-insert, and writing a white man as the hero who steps in, growls protectively, and preserves the dignity of your FMC. men of color do not exist as the catalyst for jake, bob, or bradley to show their masculinity, and if the only time you explicitly call out diversity in your fics is having a Black or Brown man use mami when sexualizing your white delicate flower of a y/n, please please consider that maybe your writing is, at best, perpetuating white feminism, and skewing towards antebellum literature.

I think it's funny when people say trans men don't experience misogyny. I experience it alot as an out and proud and obvious trans person. Most folks are good, they don't blink an eye (even in the rural south) but for some you can see it like a switch. The biggest tell in my experience is they start treating you like the world's biggest idiot. Like you couldn't possibly know more than them about anything. I also tend to get babied, people stop letting me do things I was doing previously such as lifting heavy stuff and outdoorsy type work.
I just think it's ridiculous that the most basic elements of misogyny, elements that have been defined and discussed for years, no longer count as misogyny because it's directed at a trans guy. How do people even claim it's "misdirected" (which is such a bullshit word irt oppression) it's all very clearly directed at me for having formerly been a woman*. And what of my time spent living as a girl? Does all that misogyny mysteriously disappear, all of my former experiences rendered moot by the fact I'm now a guy*.
I haven't even gotten into how cis men can be misogynistic towards each other but rad fems and people who pretend they aren't rad fems but boil misogyny down to "woman only oppression" like to ignore that. What do you call it when a cis guy shames another guy by calling him a pussy? "You hit like a girl" anyone? You can't explain this away as "misdirected" because the intended target is not a girl, is not mistakenly being perceived as a girl, it is a deliberate act of misogyny in order to enforce the patriarchal status quo.

ik i call out winx fans here a lot for racism but like,, the fan space here is genuinely so much better than any other social media. i've been looking at winx edits on tiktok and holy shit they're all so fucking mean?? every single comment section is just full of people complaining about how much they hate Insert Character Here, there's constant fighting between the editors, so much misinformation,,, its so bad!! even though there are people here who aren't as fond of certain characters, they mostly keep it to themselves and at the very least don't fight with other fans about it. like,, the fandom here is just full of really creative people who bonded over liking winx, which is what fandom should be, but the tiktok teens turned it into some pissing contest about which character is better. i'm so glad fans here aren't like that god it'd be so miserable

Angela Bassett Deserved Best Supporting Actress. Everyone knows it.
Tumblr media
I’ll be the one to say it, since everyone else seems to want to tiptoe around facts and evidence.
Angela Bassett deserved that award more than anyone up for it.
I wouldn’t consider Jamie Lee a great in all honesty. And her role she was nominated for was very forgettable. The truth is simply this: she didn’t deserve to win because she wasn’t the best. That’s just a fact, she was a forgettable background character and she somehow one against two women who poured their hearts out onto the screen and made people feel heard and represented. This was simply something called racism.
Factually, Stephanie Hsu or Angela Bassett should have won. And everyone thought it was going to be Angela Bassett, because the possibility of a minor character that Jamie Lee played winning was ridiculous. That’s it. how can anyone justify the background white woman who sat behind a desk in an all Asian casted movie, getting the Oscar against one of the Asian characters? Against a black block buster film who’s protagonist’s Queen mother delivered, an amazing but not even the BEST, heart wrenching performance of her career. It’s racism, favoritism and nepotism’s all rolled into one.
And now, The scrutiny she is facing because when she lost the award of her lifetime, she sat in her chair frozen with disappointment for another snub. There are people saying they lost respect for her for not faking a smile and standing immediately. She doesn’t need your filthy fake respect, you hypocrite. She is being called shady and other deplorable things all because people cannot face the fact that they automatically treat Black Women worse than White women. They hold a magnifying glass to black women and point out their faults because they hate them and look for reasons to bash them.
You all will never make me hate Angela Bassett. You will never make me think less of her. And you will not break her and humiliate her the way you racists did to Will Smith last year. You want black people to perform to the nines for you to make you happy and feel comfortable. Fuck you. You’re a snowflake and a whiny blubbering baby. You will not police our emotions because you think we should behave for you.
You all can say, “Well, Jamie Lee has been waiting to win since-“ I promise you Angela Basset has not only worked harder because she is black in a white supremacist industry and not a nepotism baby, but she has been waiting just as long as Jamie Lee. Has she not given everything?
No one in that room was more deserving than Angela Bassett. That’s why it shocked the public when she didn’t win. But I know it will be fine,
Because in all honesty, The Academy and all of Hollywood need Angela Bassett far more than she will EVER need them. Keep your award. She is an icon and that something they did not give her and can never take away from her.

What were Wahlberg’s crimes?
"While living in Boston in the 1980s Wahlberg was twice charged for race-related hate crimes, serving time in jail for one of the attacks.
In 1986, a then 15-year-old Wahlberg and three friends were charged for chasing three black children and pelting them with rocks while yelling: “Kill the n*****s” until an ambulance driver intervened.
The next day, Wahlberg harrassed another group of mostly black children (around the age of nine or 10) at the beach, gathering other white men to join in racially abusing and throwing rocks at them.
A seemingly unrelated second incident occurred two years later in 1988, when Wahlberg attacked two Vietnamese men while high on the drug PCP.
He called one man, Thanh Lam, a “Vietnam f***ing s***” and knocked him unconscious with a five-foot wooden stick, while punching another man, army veteran Johnny Trinh, in the eye later in the same day. Officers reported that Wahlberg used racist slurs to describe both men.”
—IDGAF if it happened when he was “just” 17. Where is the evidence of his profound change? What great things has he done for anti-racism?
