This is petty fandom drama shit so I'm putting it under a cut, but I'm just...fuck, man, I don't know how people are so permissive of shit like this.

My mind continues to be boggled every day by the fact that the creation cycle of that one big Zack-centric fanthology has taken so long that...

Remake got a complete graphical update

Remake got an hours-long DLC

First SOLDIER was announced

First SOLDIER came out

First SOLDIER was shut down

Ever Crisis was announced

Ever Crisis was delayed

Ever Crisis went into closed beta

Ever Crisis ended its closed beta and (most egregious of all)

Crisis Core was remastered, fully voiced, and released on every current-gen gaming platform

And the fanthology in question still hasn't even gone into hard proofing. As of today. Right now. July 25, 2023. Note that I was told directly, in public, in January of last year, that they'd be going to print "soon after preorders closed." Preorders closed at midnight on March 1, 2022. It's been over a year.

I have friends on this project who will never publicly post the work they did for it because it's been so long that their style has changed to the point that they can't be proud of their work for the project anymore. The mod team is selling misprints of at least one piece of merch designed for this project on their etsy, but the fanthology itself still doesn't exist. They announced they would be going into hard proofing "soon" almost exactly a month ago, and haven't updated since.

And nobody has said a thing. Nobody has called this out, at least not in public. I don't actually have a dog in this fight—I'm neither a customer nor a contributor, and I've already made a bit of a name for myself by calling out members of this team for other things, so I'm not eager to get into it. Just…what the fuck, man. The lack of respect for the contributors on that project. What the fuck.
