#violinpractice🎻 break! Taking breaks when practicing gives my body and mind a chance to rest #mentalreset Breaks also allow me to evaluate practice strategies. After practicing a challenging passage for 20-30 mins, I take a break (often after practicing a different piece or passage). After a break of about 10 minutes I play the first passage again at or close to performance tempo. If I play with more ease after the break it means my mind and body have retained some of the work I did over a period of time and after doing something else - the practice strategies I used seem to be working and I should use them again in the next practice. If the passage doesn’t feel any easier at all I need to consider altering my strategy for the next practice. A change of practice strategy may be as simple as slowing the practice tempo or breaking up the passage into smaller groups. Whatever the change is, it should allow me to feel at least some small success the next time! Today, I’m enjoying Japanese #hojicha or #roastedgreentea #icedtea which is my favorite #summerbeverage This tea has a wonderful #floralaroma both before and after brewing and has a wonderful rich golden brown color. It can be brewed hot or cold.
