His first murder (fanfic)
Lucien wasn't chilling. He just graduated Stanford with his best friends and he didn't like that. He wanted them dead. So he decided to kill them, starting with Susan.
He was on his way to her apartment(?) when a bus drove over him and killed him. Everybody saw his dead body as the bus drove on and thought "oh wow how cringe". Susan saw the massacre from her window and got the ick. She decided not to go to his funeral.
Thats the story of how Lucien Folter died a cringe death and nobody gave a fuck or came to his funeral the end.

Book 11 of 2024
Tumblr media
Book 1 in the Robert Hunter series! I stumbled on this series by accident. I found book 4 in the library and the cover and summary caught my attention. You actually can read book 4 without reading the previous ones.
I fell in love with Robert and Carlos and story 1 is a great start! Terrifying by great! The killer is creepy and insane and then that ending! Not just the reveil of the killer but also what happens after that.
I want to read all the books Chris Carter has written now!
5 stars for sure!

Test post. I haven't been able to upload images of any sort for the past couple of days. Maybe the universe is telling me enough is enough. Well, I'm not listening. Anyway, enjoy the many outfits of Erik Hunter. He often wore 90% of them in a single episode of Laredo. Bro changed clothes more than a starlet hosting a shitty awards show.

summary | renfield falls for the vampire hunter sent to kill his boss
pairing | robert montague renfield x van helsing!fem!reader!
wc | 1.5k
genre | fluff!
warnings! | this is not really proof read yet, but other than that, nothing that i can think of, lol
requested? | yes! i combined two requests the best that i could since they were for the same character and song! i hope that you all enjoy it! and, if you have requested something, i promise that i am getting to them!
authors note | i loved these ideas! keep sending them in for the swift series! And as always, I do I have really bad OCD that causes me to write in some random capitalization, and punctuation, But I think that we don't have to worry about that in this fic lol. And let me know if there are any mistakes, but please be kind!
Tumblr media
You had just landed in New Orleans. Your family is sending you to take out the most notorious vampire known to man, Dracula. Being a Van Helsing, you had trained your whole life for this very moment. You beat out everyone in your family for this opportunity.
Your family had found out where his location was, and sent you immediately. You made your way through the parking lot before being stopped by a voice.
“Miss? May I help you?” Said the voice. You spun around fast to find a young man with brown hair. He seemed to be around your age. You thought that he may be one of two things. He was either lost or another vampire that you would have to kill.
“I’m fine, thanks” You said as you continued forward. You were almost to the door before he jumped in front of you.
“Miss, I don’t think you should go in there.”
“Sir, I have a job to do, If you would please move.”
“As do I, and I truly can not let you though.”
“Then you will have to make me.” You said as you straightened your back to him, and placed your hand on your stake.
“Miss, I can assure you that you would rather not.” He said. The moment he looked away, you took your chance and in one punch knocked him out.
You felt something was up once you got a better look at him. Yes he could pass as a vampire, but with his mouth slightly open, you could tell there were no fangs. You decided to take him back to your hotel room and get some answers.
Renfield wakes up, dizzy at first and then he notices the woman holding a crossbow of stakes at his head “Woah! Woah! Miss, I’m not one of them! I swear!”
“Then who the hell are you?” You ask, not lowering your weapon
“I’m Robert Montague Renfield” He answers. “Please lower your weapon.” “Renfield? The Renfield? That's not possible, you should be over 100 by now.” You said while lowering your weapon some.
“I promise I’m not lying, why else would I have been there?” He says. You stare at him for a moment. He seems like he is telling the truth. “I’ll prove it, feed me a bug and my eyes will turn yellow.”
“If I feed you one of these and you attack me, I can guarantee that you will be dead within a second. You hear me?” He nods, and you pick up his tin, and feed him one. You watch as his eyes do change to yellow, and he breaks his ropes.
“See?” He says as he rubs his wrist.
“Why am I not dead?” You ask as you head to the fridge, leaving him confused.
“I beg your pardon?” He asks, following you, confused.
“You kill anyone that comes for Dracula, so why am I still alive.” You watch as he frowns, as you sip your soda.
“Please, do not remind me, I hate myself for it.” This shocks you as you stare at him.
“What do you mean, don’t you do it on your own free will?” You ask, sitting down at your table.
“Of course not.” He says while he sits across from you.
“You mean to tell me that you don’t do this because you want to protect Dracula? You say, offering him a soda as you do.
“I don’t….not anymore at least, if I could get out, I would, he just won’t let me go.” He says while looking down.
“Wait, you are bound to him?” You ask. You had always heard the stories of Renfield tearing over vampire hunters to shreds, it just does not make sense to you.
“Yes, I am. I do want to be but he will not let me leave.”
“Alright, I will help you, as long as you help me.” You say as you stand from the table.
“Wait- What do you mean, you will help me?” He asks while standing too.
“I need to kill your boss. Help me do so, and we both will get what we want.”
“You would do that for me?” He asked, his eyes full of hope, while making your heart swell.
“It would be cruel of me not to.”  You say as you smile.
Over the next few weeks, you and Renfield meet up every day while trying to come up with plans on how to get rid of Dracula.
You walk into your hotel room the next day waiting for Renfield, only to find Dracula sitting at my table.
“So this is the woman that plagues Renfields mind?” He says as you put your crossbow of stakes down onto the counter. “Allow me to introduce myself” “I already know who you are.” You say as you say while staying far enough away so you could attack if needed.
“Then introduce yourself to me, I would love to put a name with the face that he always thinks about” He said, like he was not asking.
“My name is (Y/n) Van Helsing” You said with a smirk. You knew he would know the name.
“Ugh, are they still making those?” He said while standing, “Why have you Van Helsings never stopped, Do you know how many of your kind I have killed?”
“Why are you here?” You asked while taking a slight step closer to him. “Are you gonna kill me?”
“I should, and perhaps I will.” He said, and in a flash he grabbed her neck and pushed her against the wall. “Maybe I will take pity on you? Kill you quicker than your ancestors”
He is taken aback by the laughter that comes from you next. “Why are you laughing? Is this some kind of joke to you? Losing your life?”
“You won’t, can’t kill me.” You say in a laugh
“And why is that?” He asked, getting closer to intimidate you.
“You know why, If you kill me, Renfield will find out, and blame you, and then you will never be able to control him again.” You say as you jerk his hand off of your throat.
“Stay away from Renfield, are we clear?” He said while making his way for the door, he left before he could hear your answer.
When Renfield came by later that day to see the marks on your neck from his hand, he was done, and he was ready to get rid of Dracula as fast as he could.
It was a month later when Renfield and you finally had killed Dracula, you were in your hotel packing up to go home when there was a knock at your door, when you opened the door, you found Renfield standing in front of you.
“I just wanted to see you one last time before you left, Miss Van Helsing” He said with a sad smile on his face.
“How many more times do I have to tell you to just call me (Y/n)” You said while inviting him in.
“Would you like some help?” He asked while taking a look around the place, noticing that it had become plain again.
“No thank you, You know I was just starting to get comfortable here in New Orleans.” You say with a sigh.
Renfield grabs her hand while she is packing “Please don’t go” he says in a small voice.
“Renfield I-” You look up and his eyes are already looking into yours.
He leans in and kisses you while he places a hand on your face gently. The kiss is gentle, and nervous, but full of need. When Renfield pulls away he immediately starts apologizing. “I am so sorry-” But before he could finish you pulled him back in, taking the air out of his lungs.
“You really want me to stay?” you say as you two pull away from each other.
“Yes,” He says out of breath.
“I will have to think about it” You say to him. Knowing that with your job, you will have to talk to your family about this first.
Renfield was starting to lose hope that you would return. It had been months since he heard from you last. A knock at his door took him out of his misery, especially when he opened the door to see one special vampire hunter standing there.
“Surprise” you say while pulling him in for a hug. You had to make some arrangements before you came back, but once you did, your family set you up with your own house in New Orleans for you to move into.
Renfield hugged you as tight as he could. “I am so happy you came back.” He mumbled into your neck.
“Well, I came back because I wanted to go out with a certain ex-slave of Draculas, any idea on who that could be?” You said with a smirk, teasing him.
“I have no idea, Will you tell me more about him?” He said as he pulled away to look at you.
“I will over dinner, how does that sound?” You say while looking up into his eyes while smiling.
“That sounds absolutely wonderful.” He says while pulling you into his apartment, and shuts the door

Rewind the Tape —Episode 1
Art of the episode
During our rewatch, we took note of the art shown and mentioned in the pilot, and we wanted to share. Did we miss any? Do you have any thoughts about how these references could be interpreted? How do you think Armand and Louis go about picking the art for their penthouse in Dubai?
Tumblr media
The Fall of the Rebel Angels
Peter Bruegel the Elder, 1562
This painting is featured in the Interview with the Vampire book, and it was important enough to be included in the draft pilot script!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bruegel the Elder was among the most significant Dutch and Flemish Renaissance artists. He was a painter and print-maker, known for his landscapes and peasant scenes.

Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion
Francis Bacon, 1944
Bacon was an Irish figurative painter, known for his raw, unsettling imagery and a number of triptychs and diptychs among his work. At a time when being gay was a criminal offense, Bacon was open about his sexuality, and was cast out by his family at 16 for this reason. He destroyed many of his early works, but about 590 still survive. The Tate, where these paintings are displayed, says this about the work: "Francis Bacon titled this work after the figures often featured in Christian paintings witnessing the death of Jesus. But he said the creatures represented the avenging Furies from Greek mythology. The Furies punish those who go against the natural order. In Aeschylus’s tragedy The Eumenides, for example, they pursue a man who has murdered his mother. Bacon first exhibited this painting in April 1945, towards the end of the Second World War. For some, it reflects the horror of the war and the Holocaust in a world lacking guiding principles."

A New Face (Separate Tides)
During its second season, The Owl House had hit its stride and wasn't slowing down. This is my favourite season, and that isn't an unpopular sentiment.
Separate Tides is the opening episode of this season, so it needs to recap the previous goings on and themes in a cohesive way for new viewers, and take the series in a different direction that stays loyal to those themes and plotlines. I think this episode does that well.
But this isn't a summary blog, this is a blog where I find something needlessly specific and gush about the implications of that something.
So... The Golden Guard is so ****ing cool.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD (The Owl House, The Harry Potter Series)
Tumblr media
I've mentioned in the past that The Owl House uses archetypal storytelling to a truly masterful degree. It takes tropes and meets them on a superficial level, then twists them in a way that adds depth and makes the series unique.
Tumblr media
For example, the series is directly drawing inspiration from the works of Robert Galbraith, with Willow being the bullied kid with a passion for herbology, and Amity being the school bully who definitely has a crush on the main character. Both take the archetype and shake it up a bit, as is the way with parody, but the baseline is there.
This leans into the themes of being your own person rather nicely, as it makes the deviations from the archetype more important.
Tumblr media
I took great pains to point out that Luz is the only character who doesn't fit the mould at all. She has no analogue and is her own person completely. She has nothing to restrict her.
However, leaves the analogue for the actual protagonist of Galbraith's books. Obviously, not every character from the series is parodied, but the chosen one main character seems like a weird one to miss out on.
Tumblr media
I would argue that Mr Potter does have an analogue, Hunter Whittebane (Or Hunter Noceda or Hunter Demonne or even Hunter Clawthorn. Whichever name you prefer, its the same guy).
He is a child soldier, raised by his uncle and manipulated into giving his life away for the cause by an old wizard. He bears a scar on his face, and is technically half witch, half human.
Although we don't actually see any of that in Separate Tides. Instead, we are introduced to the Golden Guard, a character who is suave and cool and confident.
Tumblr media
The first time we actually see this character is in the final scene of the previous season.
"Worry not, Kiki. We'll be keeping an eye on the inhabitants of the Owl House."
The Golden Guard is a goon, an elite goon, but a goon none the less. He is simply a character whom Belos turns to in order to get the job done.
Tumblr media
But, I find the use of vernacular here interesting. Belos doesn't refer to the Golden Guard with any name, or even as a separate entity from himself. Not "he will be watching them" or "this is the Golden Guard, I trust him to get the job done". This character is referred to as "we". He and Belos are connected. This character is simply Belos' eye.
Tumblr media
Then, in Separate Tides, it is established that, when Lilith fell from grace, she was replaced by the Golden Guard.
"He always got special treatment because he was the genius teen prodigy. But he's really just a brat."
So, this is a child, but a gifted child. Lilith is dismissive here, but not of the Golden Guard's skill, just his personality. This is someone for whom things come naturally, allegedly, and who has never had to work for his abilities. Allegedly.
Tumblr media
"Unfortunately, you won't have the chance."
The Golden Guard's first line is just cool. He is calm and collected. He is in control. And he has just easily captured one of the protagonists.
Tumblr media
I also love the little fact that he has spent the entirety of this voyage in a dimly lit room, eating crackers. The room has nothing to do in it except books. So, he was definitely just sitting there, reading, and had to improvise when King burst into the room. He's a bookworm with an ability to think on the spot.
I'm saying this guy would definitely play Pathfinder or D&D if he was given a chance.
Tumblr media
Anyway, the Golden Guard's actual introduction comes fourteen minutes into the episode, and it immediately sets this guy up as a threat. He's martially competent, magically adept, and fully in his element. This is a character who revels in control, just like the Emperor.
Tumblr media
And that link to Belos is interesting. Because forgive me for asking, why would an Emperor's elite goon be a child? As in, there has to be a connection to Belos beyond what meets the eye for the Golden Guard to be anywhere near where he is.
We don't get told that here, but we do see that this character's skillset is kinda similar to Belos', in theory. He's commanding, and he gets people to do what he wants. But in practice, this isn't Belos at all. This is someone trying very hard to be like Belos, but coming at it from a different angle.
Tumblr media
I do, however, think that the Golden Guard's greatest strength as a goon is revealed subtly in this scene.
"The Emperor ordered me to slay one. I'm just following orders."
We've seen through Lilith in the previous season that Belos covets blind loyalty, and that is what the Golden Guard offers him. He doesn't know or care why the Emperor does what he does, he just follows orders.
Tumblr media
Essentially, the Golden Guard is a traditional Disney villain at this point. He is fun, bisexual, charismatic, and a physical threat. The Golden Guard we get introduced to is enjoyable to watch, and it sounds like Zeno Robinson is having a blast voicing him.
However, there is one element of the Golden Guard that we get introduced to in this episode that might fly under the radar. The Owl House is no stranger to masks, and people putting on a show to get the job done, but when we are first shown the Golden Guard in this episode, he is taking it off.
Tumblr media
The intro sequence of this season features three characters who are under Belos' command. Lilith, The Golden Guard, and Kikimora. It then unmasks them, with Lilith becoming apologetic, and Kikimora becoming more aggressive. But the Golden Guard sits between them, removing his own mask to reveal... a single purple eye.
Tumblr media
The eye is the window to the soul, of course. But there is something to the manner in which this is happening. Kikimora has been angered to the point of lashing out, and Lilith has been brought low with remorse. The Golden Guard, however, is lowering his own mask and staring directly at you with an air of "I'm doing this of my own accord. I see you, you see me, your move."
I wonder if agency is going to be a theme with this character.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
I love Hunter so much it is obscene, and there is a ton of ambiguity about him right from the bat. What is his stake in this? Who actually is he? And why does he have a purple eye?
As for the rest of this episode, Luz's guilt is starting to be expressed. In my opinion that is for the first time, but I have heard it said that this isn't a new character trait for her.
And Lilith... *sighs* There is a sentiment online as to the expedience of Lilith's redemption arc. Some people like it, others think she should have been "punished" more, and I would like to take a third rout.
I don't believe in punitive justice for fictional characters, and I certainly don't believe in telling writers how they should write. I do, however, think that it could have been slightly more interesting if the consequences of cursing Eda were explored more psychologically.
In any case, however, the series we got is the series we got, and I think it is perfectly fine, if not better, as it is. I don't see a point in getting angry online over what could have been.
Next week, I am looking as Escaping Expulsion and boy, do I have thoughts about Odalia Blight. So, stick around if that interests you.
