i’ve gone on about this before but the amount of DETAIL in pacrim is so fun. i love how there people in the background cheer or clap or “oooh” during raleigh and mako’s test, how you can hear Cherno Alpha calling for backup im the background during Pentecost’s scenes in the Double Event fight, how Aleksis and Sasha have their own little conversation in Russian when Raleigh first appears in the mess hall, the way all the extras in the Kaiju bunker with Newt actually look like they’ve been running in the rain (some of them are carrying bags and purses, some ponchos, all are suitably drenched), how you can hear Newton and Hermann arguing in the background before they even get on the elevator. gdt i love you

I can finally share my finished piece for the @edgeofhopezine
Sasha and Aleksis were always my favorite pilots in the movie, they're so cool, and Cherno Alpha is such a neat mech design! I had a great time channeling some vintage poster aesthetics for this one <3

Can we agree Sasha owns this one? No one does it quite like Cherno Alpha

Pacific Rim texting headcanons:
Pentecost has absolutely zero typos.
There's no way Chuck is a good texter he has no one to talk to beside his dad he sucks at it
Also Chuck's most used emojis are the dog one and the insulting ones lol
Mako is the queen of abbreviations she is also a smooth texter (like her dad) but with more emojis.
Raleigh was isolated from the world for years he is an awkward texter for sure. His face was priceless when he saw all the new emojis. He is an overtexter, of course.
If the Wei Tang brothers text you a voice message you CANNOT listen to it in public there's no way of knowing what it says
Newt sometimes only talks using emojis combinations that only Hermann can read.
Seriously Hermann texts are either long ass paragraphs or hand emojis kehfkfjfkfj
Bless Tenko, king of smooth texters.
The Kaidonovsky has this rule of no pics no videochats no voice messages if you don't ask first if you can't summarize what you want to say you should be calling.
Half the Jaeger Program have Newt blocked on their phones.
Hermann list of contacts is so funny he puts emojis on their names to identify even the pizza delivery guy.
Raleigh insists on keeping his old ass phone because he still has Yancy's chat there :((((
The Jaeger pilots have an official group chat only for information that Pentecost manages and no one can write but him, except when he opens it so everyone can reply understood
Then there's the unofficial Jaeger pilots. group chat that Herc cannot open when he's near Pentecost or he'd be unable to stop his laugh in time.
When the rest figure out that Chuck has like two contacts in his phone, it's over. His phone goes from a peaceful creature to the endless buzzing of a group of clowns sending him whatever.
No one complains about the group chat they have to share pics of Max btw.
Mako and Raleigh sometimes text each other in Japanese and they even forget about it so sometimes they do it in the group chats too it's adorable and annoying
There's a viral voice message of Aleksis drunk singing that Aleks doesn't know exists 'cause Sasha kept it a secret. There's a betting poll about who would accidentally mention it in front of Aleksis.
As a general, the Dome is always reminding people to please use their private phones and not the work phones when they flirt text each other please the technicians can read those

Burnt out and lonely, Tendo Choi laments his once-thriving social life and longs to revive it. Which leads him to a brilliant idea: why not blend his work life and social life?
It really had been a good idea, once. But now? He may or may not have some regrets.
(For the @edgeofhopezine, featuring everyone's favourite dandy CTO and the harrowing (mis)adventures of his Shatterdome social life.)

All the Pacific Rim Character Birthdays I Could Find
...And by "all," I mean I will be writing down character birthdays from all the sources I can find, some of which contradict each other! It definitely sheds some insight into how ideas changed during development, and I think it shows some evidence that not everyone was always up to date - for example, Mako and Raleigh's Drift Space bios seem to be up to date, but Newt's is clearly an older version, as indicated by his age being given as 45 rather than 35.
Update: I found a post on Travis Beacham's blog that lists birthdays! I've added them now.
Mako Mori Bio posted by GdT on Twitter: January 9th, 2006 Drift Space Special Feature: April 23rd, 2003 Man, Machine, & Monsters: April 23rd, 2003 Pacific Rim Novelization: April 23, 2003 Travis Beacham's Blog: April 23, 2005
Raleigh Becket Bio posted by GdT on Twitter: April 11, 1991 Drift Space Special Feature: December 11, 1998 Man, Machine, & Monsters: December 11, 1998 Pacific Rim Novelization: December 11, 1998 Travis Beacham's Blog: December 11, 1998
Yancy Becket Travis Beacham's Blog: November 7th, 1995
Stacker Pentecost Bio posted by GdT on Twitter: September 9, 1983 Man, Machine, & Monsters: December 30, 1985 Pacific Rim Novelization: December 30, 1985 Travis Beacham's Blog: December 30, 1985
Hercules Hansen Man, Machine, & Monsters: November 10, 1980 Pacific Rim Novelization: November 10, 1980 Travis Beacham's Blog: November 10, 1980
Chuck Hansen Man, Machine, & Monsters: August 14, 2003 Travis Beacham's Blog: August 14, 2003
Sasha Kaidonovsky Man, Machine, & Monsters: February 9, 1991 Travis Beacham's Blog: February 9, 1991
Aleksis Kaidonovsky Man, Machine, & Monsters: January 31, 1998 Travis Beacham's Blog: January 31st, 1989
The Wei Triplets Man, Machine, & Monsters: December 24, 1998 Travis Beacham's Blog: December 24th, 1998
Tendo Choi Man, Machine, & Monsters: May 17, 1992 Travis Beacham's Blog: May 17th, 1992
Newt Geiszler Drift Space Special Feature: January 19, 1980 Man, Machine, & Monsters: January 19, 1990 Pacific Rim Novelization: January 19, 1990 Travis Beacham's Blog: January 19, 1991
Hermann Gottlieb Man, Machine, & Monsters: June 9, 1989 Pacific Rim novelization: June 9, 1989 Travis Beacham's Blog: June 9, 1989
Notes:
Beacham stated that Aleksis Kaidonovsky's 1998 birthdate was a typo.
Beacham's blog lists Mako's birth year as 2005, but given that 2003 is listed far more commonly, I'm inclined to think his date may be in error.

The Gods within the Machines (on AO3)
Inspired from @driftwithme's post
Summary:
In the alternative universe where the Jaegers pilot are the gods above and the Precursors are demons from below.
(Raleigh and Chuck alternating POVs) (Greek Mythology inspired) (Pacific Rim doesn’t belong to me)
Haven't written about PR in a while- its hard to get their characterizations right 😭

Pre orders are currently OPEN so you should go grab a copy!

5 am. My traumatized russian ass came up with this
Kaidonovskie attend any political protest they can. Were they arrested several times? Yes, because it's Russia and any protestor can get arrested for no reason. Do they face any changes? Usually no and they use it to sometimes get other protestors from the hands of the police or to attract police's attention to them instead of others. Because it's Russia. The police will beat you up and drag you into the "prison car" for no reason. And you'll be guilty for that later and gat a huge fine for that.
And they face no charges because they're elite Jaeger pilots and the government needs them. Police hate them. Shatterdome head dude hates them because they can't be fired because they're the best in the country and Vladivostok won't survive without them. Don't get me wrong but they're very skilled and staff and the country can't afford to loose them. So they have to deal with these two who are clearly against the current government
Kaidonovskie are tough and do everything for other people. And yes they also hate the government.

Little pacrim comfort headcanons:
Raleigh photowall travelled with him every time he moved to work on the wall, so in a sense Yancy never left him be truly alone, even without the drift.
Pentecost knew Mako wanted to dye her hair and asked someone he trusted to help Mako with it, so she would end with something she really loved.
Chuck drew and painted the Max emblem on Striker Eureka himself 'cause having Max with him all the time, even at war, made him feel safe.
The jaeger program never liked exposing the pilots like celebrities, so they always kept the media interaction at minimum and never revealed the details of a fallen jaeger to the public.
Which means the jaeger program helped those pilots get out after being injured, even Raleigh. Otherwise Raleigh would have never go back or trust Pentecost.
Many other pilots and officials helped Pentecost learn Japanese so he could communicate with Mako.
Mako remembers the date of almost every Newt kaiju tattoo 'cause he'd play this game where she had to identify it ans if she couldn't, the tattoo artist had to fix it.
Tendo was the first to hug Raleigh when he woke up after Knifehead. He wouldn't leave until he was sure the last of the Beckets was truly alive.
Sasha and Aleksis appeared one day at Pentecost door with the offer to blow up the breach 'cause they were sooo angry. Good thing Pentecost was thinking the same thing.
