Alrighty, Americans, listen up. 👏👏
I hate getting this serious, but the Internet's in danger at the moment. Thanks to the bill that is KOSA, which from my understanding could be passed, should this go into voting territory.
^^ Please click here and contact your local lawmakers. Please and thank you- we're NOT going to let this pass.

if people (who are registered to vote in the US) are looking to contact their reps and senators about S.686 (RESTRICT act or the TikTok ban bill), here’s a great video explaining how to find and reach them:
https://www.tiktok.com/@sayheyjames/video/7214624676419554606
and here’s what I sent to mine if you’re having trouble thinking of what to say (i literally copy pasted for all of them, feel free to edit as necessary but make sure you actually say S.686 and/or RESTRICT act instead of just Tik Tok ban):
I am a voter in your district and I would like to voice my extreme opposition to S.686 RESTRICT Act. If you choose to vote in favor in the RESTRICT Act, I will vote for your opponent in the next primary. This bill is an egregious violation of privacy, and a shocking display of an attempt at governmental overreach. I hope that you consider voting against S.686.
as with all internet restriction/censorship bills, this one is so so so important and can change everything for the worse. ik that analysts say it only has a 5% chance of passing, but that’s 5% more than there should be. please contact your reps and senators and let them know that you’ll be voting/campaigning against them in the primaries.
i may not like or use tik tok, but a lot of people do and a lot of those people use it to spread important information. no one should have the power to censor the internet.

Just a simple request that you do not let the “Aliens/UFOs are real probably LOL” circus performance going in US Congress distract you while a bunch of shitty internet bills (including KOSA) that died at the committee stage multiple times before is now bundled into one package that is currently slated to head for the senate tomorrow.

The 230 case in the supreme court in the USA is the most important thing to pay attention to right now. Its honestly scaring me how much this could impact myself and other content creators. Right now Im panicking over what my only career path will look like in 4 months if the supreme court does what it always does and fucks everything up…
If you havent heard whats going on, I’d suggest watching what Legal Eagle or Phillip DeFranco posted about the Supreme court and the future of the internet. Basically they’re debating the ability to sue a content platform for the content its users post on it, basically treating youtube’s suggestion algorithm as youtube “creating” the content, making it liable for everything its algorithm recommends… this could destroy Youtube’s ability to host videos in the way that we know it, limiting search and recommendation functions, or at worst forcing Youtube to limit who can even post to its platform. Its scary to even think about what might happen to small creators without an established subscriber base… no one new would see your videos, only people who actively search it out, or who already follow you…
TL:DR — If you live in the USA, please pay attention to the supreme court and do whatever you can to influence them to keep the freedom rights of these platforms!! Sign petitions, call your Rep’s, please do whatever you can to keep platforms like Youtube and Twitch alive!!

rest in peace, Omegle
you will not be forgotten
made a hugely positive impact on so many people's lives, I have spent some of my lowest moments on omegle talking to kind and empathetic strangers and I have been there for other strangers when they were struggling too
quote Leif K-Brooks, Omegle founder: "The battle for Omegle has been lost, but the war against the Internet rages on. Virtually every online communication service has been subject to the same kinds of attack as Omegle; and while some of them are much larger companies with much greater resources, they all have their breaking point somewhere. I worry that, unless the tide turns soon, the Internet I fell in love with may cease to exist, and in its place, we will have something closer to a souped-up version of TV – focused largely on passive consumption, with much less opportunity for active participation and genuine human connection. If that sounds like a bad idea to you, please consider donating to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, an organization that fights for your rights online."

As you may have guessed from my reblogs the US government is planning on an act that will censor anything it finds a “national security threat”. This is bullshit. They just want to control us more and more and more
Sign right here and call your representatives letting them know you won’t stand for this 👇
Time to act now

The Internet archive is honestly one of my favorite tools to use while studying different things or using references. This ruling is fucking ridiculous with how fucked it is rn in the U.S. I'm most likely not the only one doing this but either way the more the fucking merrier.

The "EARN IT" Act isn't going to help any kids at all.
All it'll accomplish if it passes is make child predators a lot harder to find and bust, compromise our online privacy, make things worse for LGBT folk and nuke content that is either LGBT or NSFW.
More info down below.

Save the internet campaign is not done as the existence of Internet is in danger or going to extinct but accomplish 𝙣𝙚𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮.
Now first question that will came to your mind will be "what is net neutrality?" It simply means
the principle that internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favouring or blocking particular products or websites.
The story of net neutrality starts in 2014 when Airtel decided to charge extra for Voice Over IP services like Skype. This discussion led to the launch of netneutrality.in, a website that explained the importance of net neutrality and Airtel’s threat to it. After seeing public outrage and discussion, Airtel withdrew their decision and this marked the first time that the principles of net neutrality gained mainstream media and public attention. This also resulted in the important question being raised around the lack of policy around net neutrality in India.
Then the hero of our story, TRAI came in play ie. Telecom regulatory authority of India. Who agrees to issue net neutrality in India if public support net neutrality. For this purpose net neutrality.in campaign started. This movement became very popular in social media.
People support this campaign and net neutrality was validated
