Sound of Freedom, Operation Underground Railroad, and Tim Ballard are frauds who hurt the people who fight actual human trafficking.

Talk to anyone who fights real trafficking, they will tell you what is wrong with Ballard. To start with, he used to fight child sexual exploitation as a federal agent but he quit to act as a vigilante. Here is the short version of how OUR works: they go into a foreign country and throw money around until a pimp approaches them. They then tell the pimp they want children, and ask the pimp to bring kids to a secondary location. Then they call the cops, have the police arrest the pimps, streams the arrest on FaceTime for a high tier donor, and then go home. If you don’t get what’s wrong with this let me explain: OUR raises the demand for child sex slaves. A mommy blogger who Ballard brought along wrote an entire article about her experience. He says his team is all sorts of CIA agents and SEALs, but apparently moms from Utah are more reflective. It turns out some of the kids were trafficked for the first time FOR Ballard. He waved money and encouraged that trafficking. Afterwards, he left the country with a handshake promise that the kids would be cared for by the police. He will say the kids got aftercare, but evidence says otherwise.

But maybe that’s not enough for you?

He hired a psychic in Utah to tell him where a child was in the Dominican Republic. He flew a team as well as that child’s father down to the town the psychic indicated and found nothing other than locals scared of the American paramilitary vigilantes who were asking for children.

He and a sister organization said they were evacuating people from Afghanistan. No one has found any evidence to prove that.

He has claimed OUR saved a 12 year old girl from slavery. Then, she was 11. Then it turned out she saved herself a decade ago without his help and they want to get credit for rescuing her.

He claimed to be partnered with American Airlines, who have no idea what he is talking about.

So what actually DOES Ballard do?

He campaigns against drag queens

Promotes Qanon/Wayfair conspiracies

Cast the actor who played Jesus to play himself in his own movie. (The actor actively campaigns on blood libel Q conspiracies)

But beyond all that, just remember the movie isn’t donating to anti trafficking causes. It’s just asking you to buy more tickets to juice the numbers.

Donate to your local shelter. Most trafficking victims are trafficked by loved ones or people close to them. The victims need all the help they can get.

And another thing: People are conflating criticism of this film with apologia for child trafficking. I keep seeing posts say it will “Raise Awareness,” despite it being an incorrect portrayal. If that’s true, then Die Hard is raising awareness about bank robbers.

Here’s an idea: watch or read ANYTHING from real survivors of trafficking.

- firstly, I knew Deanna was raised Christian but I didn't know she was raised VERY conservative Christian. Per Deanna, this is the reason Amy was allowed so much freedom; she didn't want to limit her as a female in any of the ways she was

- going off of that, I can see how that foundation would open Jim Bob up to a religion that is so insanely misogynistic

- I know it's a thing all of us who've been around a while have known, but it's all but explicitly said that the Duggar kids had any steal of rebellious beat out of them. By Michelle, regardless of what she sounds like.

- I can't help but wonder if this is the reason Michelle sticks so closely to this faith, even after all that's happened. Even as her own children have expressed how abusive their upbringing was. Leaving the ideology means admitting you were an abuser and not an educator.

- Jill felt like she lied in the Megyn Kelly interview. She didn't want to do it and said she wouldn't have without her parents urging, and she felt obligated to protect her family. She didn't want to do this interview, but didn't trust anyone else to tell the truth which, given her upbringing, I totally get.

- the interviews with other ex-IBLP kids are just as fascinating to listen to as Jill's (if not more bc a lot of them WANT to be there). Tia Levings in particular is so incredibly brave and wonderful, please follow her your preferred platform ❤️

- Mike Huckabee is an accomplice to abuse and ped*philia at best

- I know Derick can be insufferable but I promise he's worth listening to in this doc, at least so far (I'm halfway through episode 3). And he's a very serious Jill advocate, which I feel like all the Duggar girls need so badly.

- Jill didn't want anyone at her birth because SHE DIDN'T WANT TOO GO THROUGH WHAT ANNA WENT THROUGH. She agreed to a diary cam at most.

- For that work they did during their babies birth, the Dillards requested not a full paycheck, but a small health insurance renumeration fee from TLC, who asked them to do this work. TLC informed then that they had already paid all sums to Jim Bob.

- Jill has never received any amount of payment from TLC for all the time and work she had given them. Neither had Derick.

- this is probably a NO DUH for us around here, but here is a short list of IBLP/ATI approved lives of training, especially for minors who are doing work for free for other members of the organization (i believe the Bates kids are included in some of the pictures accompanyingthis part):

Two version of shattered glass shapeshifter!ben:

I have been a huge fan of many Ben 10 aus and versions, ever since I came across the shapeshifter!ben au, I love it! And I created a shattered glass version for it, basically two version.

If you wanna know more about that shapeshifter!ben au, go check out @sweetpeaches666 ‘s account for more info, she is the original creator of this au.

First, here is small drawing/sketching attempts I did.

The first blue one, the evil one: in this au, since Ben was neglected by his mom Sandra, and he was kept under the plumbers’s control, he did tried to be a hero, but after people were more against him and sees him as a freak, he snapped, and begin to do evil stuff, committing crimes and all that.

His good shattered glass dads (aka vilgax, zs’skayr, sed, Jason, sixsix, etc) tried to save him and take him when he was kid, but it was no use as Ben didn’t know they were his donors/many dads.

To this day, they blame themselves for not being Abel to rescue Ben faster, and for how he turned out.

And the good shattered glass dads has a rivalry against the plumbers, because they don’t want their evil organization anywhere near their planets and people.

His personality is basically the mix of bad Ben and mad Ben.

The second version: I don’t know what to call this version, I thought about maybe anti hero Ben or natural Ben. But I don’t know.

In this version, when summer was over, and ben and to return to his home, but he didn’t want to, other different in this version is, ben let’s his good dads explain to him about how and why they are his dads, peach, the creator said that Carl left Sandra in the shattered glass version when ben was born, so ben had some issues trusting them.

But after seeing all that stuff happening form both side (his grandpa and the evil plumber organization, evil dads, and his good dads and aliens who are against that organization)

Vilgax gave Ben a device to call him if he ever wanted to come for him and take him away, after spending a day with his mom, ben decided enough was enough, he packed his stuff, and ran away from the farm, he called vilgax who came and took him, but they had to do something so the plumber’s won’t be on their tail or suspect anything.

With his good dad’s help, ben faked his death, making it look like an accident, and he was taken away by his good dads, who took care of him among themselves, basically sharing custody of him among themselves.

He received love and affection he never received from his human family.

His personality is kinda like nega Ben, basically tired and depressed, some sort of emo, but he is serious and can be cocky sometimes, and probably trying his best to please his good dads, because he always had this fear that they will leave him too, and basically would use or abandon him. (Which they would never do)

He had no idea where he was. All he knew was that his body was tied to a cold table. He couldn’t see anything for a blindfold covered his eyes.

There was someone with him. He knew it. The doctor could hear the sound of slow steps echoing through the room.

And yet another familiar sound reached his ears. The sound of someone whistling a song. It sent shivers down McCoy’s spine.

He knew that song very well. His mother used to sing it to him when he was a little boy. But somehow he knew that whoever had taken him was not the type of person to sing him a lullaby.

No. His captor probably had far darker plans for McCoy.

He once again tried to break free, however, it was impossible to move his body. McCoy let out a desperate groan, but his voice got stuck in his throat when suddenly he felt something cold and sharp touching his bare chest.

The doctor’s heart skipped a beat and he shook his head in panic. He knew the feeling of a scalpel when he felt one.

“Whoa! Hey, hey, hey. What do you think you’re doing, man?”

He got no reply. Instead, the whistling, which had stopped for a short moment, only continued.

“Stop it! Please, don-“

McCoy didn’t get to finish his plead for mercy for suddenly the blade started to slice up his torso. The doctor screamed out as agonizing pain filled his whole body.

He couldn’t stop the hot tears from streaming down his face as he violently shook his head, sobbing loudly.

It hurt! It hurt just so much!

He didn’t know how it happened, but somehow the blindfold loosened and merely seconds later completely fell off.

What he saw was the craziest thing the doctor had ever seen in his whole life.

He could only stare in disbelief at the man looking back at him.

It was… him.

His tormentor looked just like McCoy himself. The only thing different were his uniform and the eyepatch covering his right eye. It was accompanied by a huge scar on that side of the face.

McCoy opened his mouth to say something, but no word left it.

And suddenly there was this horrible grin on his counterpart’s face as the man used one of his gloved hands to touch McCoy’s cheek.

“Oh, I’m sorry, Leonard. I didn’t mean for you to see me. To see yourself cutting you up. But I suppose I can’t prevent it now, can I?”

Once again, McCoy shook his head. This was… impossible! It couldn’t be real!

“Why?”

It was the only word he managed to croak out and his captor just sighed heavily.

“Well… it’s not easy to live with a disease that makes your organs fail one by one. Actually it sucks pretty much. So I thought to myself… what better organ donor is there than your counterpart of another universe?”

The smile on the other McCoy’s face only widened and a second later he continued his work.

“The answer is quite simple, Leonard. There is no better donor.”

The last thing McCoy heard was the sound of the familiar song being whistled while his twisted mirror version slowly took him apart.

I am seeing a lot of news items about the march in Washington D.C. today. I personally knew at least two people who went to this march and possibly more because I haven't been in touch with all of my friends who might have gone to it.

A lot of news outlets are framing this as a "pro-Israel" march, whereas others are framing it as a protest against antisemitism.

Far-right extremist zionist groups like AIPAC are undoubtedly going to try to use the large attendance at this event to fuel their narrative that people "support Israel" meaning that they support everything that Israel is doing right now.

But if you actually talk to people who went to this march, you find that their views are complex. Many of them (probably an overwhelming majority of them) are highly critical of Netanyahu's government and concerned about the extreme violence that this government has been carrying out. Keep in mind that even conservative media in Israel have covered the fact that Netanyahu's government supported Hamas for years, and all left-leaning media there is already highly critical of him. I have heard him described as "Israel's version of Trump".

There is a tendency in some subcultures to frame the whole topic of Israel and Palestine as a sort of strict binary, a sort of "You're either with us or you're with them." and there is a ton of money flowing into this narrative, and the reason is that it keeps the existing government in power and keeps US military aid flowing into it. AIPAC alone has a budget in the neighborhood of $69-77 million per year, and there are a lot of other organizations and also big private donors. AIPAC hammers in hard the idea that any criticism of Israel or Zionism is "antisemitism" and equates participation in any pro-Palestinian cause as "supporting Hamas" and then argues that it involves arguing for the extermination of all Jews in Israel because that is what the original Hamas charter called for. And the ADL, which historically was a good organization that worked against antisemitism in the framework of opposing all hate ideologies, has recently been taken over by far-right hardliners much like AIPAC, and now has a stance equating criticism of Israel with anti-semitism. And the ADL has an even bigger budget, around $81-101 million annually. These and other organizations are pouring millions into trying to get you to think of these things in binaristic terms, and they have basically become propaganda arms for the government in Israel, lobbying groups to try to ensure that the billions in military aid (which are much bigger than the budgets of these organizations) keep flowing.

But if you actually talk to people you find no one actually believes this stuff. Go to a pro-Palestine protest and ask people how they feel about Hamas and nearly everyone dislikes Hamas. After all, Hamas was supported and funded by the Israeli government for years as part of a strategy to divide and discredit the Palestinians, and people are also appalled at things like how Hamas intimidates, threatens, and jails any sort of internal opposition, and of course how their attacks in Israel sparked the recent genocidal rampage Israel has gone on.

Similarly, talk to people going to these pro-Israel and anti-antisemitism protests and you find people don't actually support the current Israeli government. Many of them directly blame Netanyahu for the attacks. Many of them are appalled by the violence being committed against Palestinians, not only now, but over the past many decades. And those who are not appalled, it's not that they don't care, it's mainly that they don't know; propaganda can be powerful.

So I hope this clarifies. You do not want to see Jews, even Jews who actively support Israel, as the enemy here. It is important to keep talking to all these people, and building as broad a consensus as possible to cut off U.S. military aid to Israel, to expose the dark money flowing into AIPAC, the co-opting of the ADL by far-right extremism, and the way these organizations are conspiring to funnel billions into the Israeli military and use them to finance their genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people, a campaign that goes hand-in-hand with supporting Hamas and Islamic extremism, and thus also goes hand-in-hand with tragic explosions of violence against some of the most vulnerable Israelis as well. These groups also fuel antisemitism because they benefit from it and can use it to advance their agenda.

It is horrific and we need to all work together to stop it NOW.

I would be interested in exploring a darker version of beloved as sticking around with Terry for so long can't go without marks in my opinion. I wonder how he'd react once he'd see that he had broken them?

Hey, because for all intents and purposes, that is what beloved does to him as well.

He's just out to smother and consume and love and love and love beloved until they literally physically and mentally can't stand it anymore. Maybe their heart starts giving due to the overwhelming stressful emotion of it over the years. The organ that pumps their blood literally loves him and receives his love until it cannot anymore. Of course Mr. Silver acquires an organ donor too. He can afford such things; beloved loved him with one heart and now they can love him with yet another. Maybe their body is downright burned out from the overly intense onslaught of his desire because he is greedy and he cannot have enough of them. Maybe they are spiritually drained until nothing but Terry remains. Maybe they're unable to function without him, which is something of a deliberate goal he would have since day one. Maybe by any stretch of the imagination, to any observer, Terry renders beloved a profoundly codependent mess that adores him as he adores them. Everyone might see beloved as broken and mentally scarred, but Terry doesn't, and even as if he does, this really was what he was aiming for all along, so it really doesn't matter. To him, in whatever state he puts beloved in; sick, dying, psychologically shaken, impotent, inert, lacking a limb, drugged up, depressed, overwhelmed, bewitched, they are still the one he loves, devotedly. Perfectly under control. Sure, there's a certain sense of frustration if bits and pieces of beloved's personality are ultimately quelled because he enjoys them --- fully them --- and he couldn't immaculately architect the outcome of how beloved will handle all of this --- all of him --- overtime, but, everything comes with a price. Loving and being loved this much comes with a price, yes. He takes these newly formed hollows and fill them with himself instead, adopting fragments of beloved's characteristics lost to his brainwashing, gaslighting and mind games and using them himself as homage and replacement, until he and beloved are one. Terry hijacked beloved's identity as much as he'll have beloved taking on his own themselves. He's them and they're him --- marking? More like absolute consuming. Ouroboros.

That is love to him.

Japan doesn’t have any formal euthenasia laws, and the two doctors who were tried for it, one case passive (i.e. cutting off life support) one active (i.e. injection), were both found guilty of having caused death, so no matter why or how he did it Shidou would probably be a murderer for it.

i also think he engages in illegal organ harvesting, but in a way that, once you die he’ll harvest any viable organs regardless of your donor status card.

he also gives me the vibes of knowing he’s wrong, but either knowing he can’t stop, or fearing he can’t stop, which is why he wants to be found guilty.

i think her relationship was abusive on both sides. her reaction to the guilty verdict does not... make me feel comfortable. it’s not like Amane’s where she fell further into her beliefs, at least not in the same sense, but... she was treated cruelly and is reaffirming her love.

this is the easist for a q&a, or voice line, to contest, but it makes sense for why she was in the birdcage too, if she was in a physically abusive relationship.

i have, what i like to refer to as my “apropose of canon” what if of, what if Kazui is a professional killer (maybe a honeypot *wink wonk*), and Hinako was originally supposed to be his target but then he fell in love. this has no reason except “professional killer au romance story”

there was never a right choice during her first vote. if we voted “innocent”, it would re-affirm the teachings instilled in her, when we voted “guilty” we subjected her to the same torment her ‘guardians’ probably did.

so her lines during the lineup in Undercover confirmed two things for me. 1) her cult’s faith healing was most likely a two sided belief thing, both the healer and the healed must believe for it to work. pretty standard typical stuff. 2) a broken promise is only logically followed by death. “cross my heart and hope to die” stuff.

the brainwashing really got her... i hope she gets help, and also doesn’t murder Shidou. please don’t kill Shidou, Amane. if you do Kotoko’s gonna murder someone for real and i have hope for her.

Mikoto

amazing what if: Mikoto’s DID affects the MV’s, not to a major extent, but to the extent that he (or rather, one of his alters) is aware of what’s happening. my bet’s on Green, but Red could be a possibility. Jackalope did say he doesn’t know how DID will affect Milgram.

piggybacking off of the theories that Mikoto has two alters, identifiable by a Red tint and Green tint, as opposed to the core’s blue tint, and will be refered to by colours as opposed to Blue who as the (presumed) core will just be called Mikoto, i will point out something that is very obvious, and probably not something ground breaking.

RGB is the colour spectrum used in light, maybe meaning that if we want to really see Mikoto for all he is, we need to consider every part of him as him. you must consider all motives, regardless of which part of him hosts them, with out that you have a tinted view, and if you don’t consider any of them, you’ve black out your sight.

adding a caveat that i do not have any formal learning in regards to DID and any observations i make are to be taken with a grain of salt and are not meant to offend.

So here’s the basic idea...

Think... Potential story idea for Resident Evil: Revelations 3.

Hidden somewhere in Switzerland’s scenic mountain ranges lies a complex of buildings and roadways that make up the research facilities for the Global Humanity Organization and Strategy Team, or GHOST for short.

Publicly, GHOST is a global genetic repository and ancestry matching service, competing with and out pacing other at home DNA testing services in nearly every market, from cancer screening to gene and family tree mapping.

Founded with one goal in mind, GHOST now stands at the forefront of genetics research, leaving all of their competition in their literal and metaphorical dust. Many have compared this company with Umbrella, citing the bleeding edge research and development they have made in the fields of genetics, gene manipulation, and the fringe projects that won’t see results for centuries, such as a gene vault with a crew in suspended animation to colonize and terraform a planet in the nearest star system (entirely crowd funded with the launch streamed and broadcast on several global news outlets).

GHOST has admitted to hiring former Umbrella, Tricell, and DSO personnel to work in various areas of study at their complex, and has sworn publicly that those connections are the only ties they share with the former company.

This is what the company tells the public and most of the members on their board of directors.

In truth, what the public is shown and told is only the surface layer of what the company, bank rolled and founded by former STARS agent and Umbrella employee Albert Wesker, actually does.

At it turns out, people will pay a company money to not only have their genetic profile, but to hoard it for them and use it to compile complex databases on them and everyone that is a close genetic match to them.

It’s literally the public paying to have their genetic history tracked, mapped, and catalogued. And in the hands of Albert Wesker and those of a similar mind, a never ending supply of genetic material test in new ways, including BOW R&D and the fringe science field of cloning.

Hidden somewhere in the depths of the complexes sub basements, there is Albert Wesker in an oversized specimen tube with all kinds of tubes and apparatuses connected to him as he floats in a fluid that is almost like the amniotic fluids of the womb, recovering from the nearly fatal incident with a rocket launcher in an African Volcano. Currently, a mysterious benefactor (later revealed to be the most recent clone of Wesker) is calling the shots for the true R&D teams of GHOST, including modifying various strains of the Progenitor Virus, and the subsequent T & G series of bioweapon viruses, to rebrand and redistribute them on the black market and plunge the world into chaos and terror once more while cushioning their private accounts the entire time.

Invitations to tour the facility’s surface level complexes were sent out to all Raccoon City survivors and one Jake Muller, under the pretense of their genes having been flagged with unique markers that may have helped them survive their ordeals to get to this day, and thus being ideal candidates for GHOSTs on site donor programs.

In truth, these invitations were nothing more than bait to lure in those most likely to try and topple the company and force Wesker to start over from scratch, should he ever come out of stasis fully healed.

Once on site, one of several different protocols will activate with a time delay of no less than three hours. Once initiated, there is no stopping the events until the new test subject has been neutralized, restrained, and subjected to a tailor made version of any one of the new viruses GHOST has developed for specifically them.

Can the survivors turn the tables on their hosts and expose the evil lurking within?

Or will they fall victim to their plans, and ultimately succumb to what new end fate has dealt them?

Starting the game is a lot like how RE6 started out. You pick your protagonist from one of the many heroes and heroines from the franchises history. Each one has their own route that takes them through various sections of the building and complexes, with no guarantee that they will ever encounter one another. Some protagonists will have little choice in their story path but to interact with one or several other protags throughout a chapter (or across several chapters), but the game would use AIs until you create run-through data for that character to generate their behavior.

Ultimately, as you play through each protagonists story mode, you uncover the full truth behind GHOST, including who is calling the shots (as stated earlier, Weser Clone), what their ultimate goal is, and how best to combat the new Bio Terror threat that they represent.

Early stages would have familiar BOW’s from earlier games to help drive home the fact that this company has black market motives and buyers for their products, but as players advance in the story, they encounter new and more horrifying BOW’s.

Some characters, like Jake Muller or Sherry Birkin, will have an added degree of difficulty to their story, with Jake starting out with no weapons (he will still have his Hand to Hand skills, and eventually disarm a guard to begin building his arsenal) and eventually being pursued by a rapidly degenerating Wesker clone, hunting him down with the intent of harvesting his DNA to stabilize and repair his own genetic code.

Sherry would be pursued throughout the complex as well for how her body adapted and co-opted the G-virus, making her an ideal candidate for stabilizing future clone projects and creating more aggressive strains of any bioweapons the company creates, including evolving the Plagas parasites.

Chris gets the big gut punch in his story line when he meets the Wesker clone, since he saw OG Albert Wesker take a rocket to the face in a volcano. Add in the shock when he finds that same Albert Wesker in a tube somewhere in the heart of the facility, floating in stasis with no clear indication that he will ever wake up.

The map size would, overall, rival that of Night City in Cyberpunk2077, lending to the earlier point of some protags meeting with others never seeing each other or knowing they were on site. This does mean that some protags would have shorter story routes than others, but ultimately the total play time could run as low as 180 hours for a speed runner completing all routes.

Anti-War Michiganders Are banding together in the crucial swing state to urge fellow voters to choose the “uncommitted” slot on their Democratic Party primary ballots next week, with the aim of getting President Joe Biden to shift his stance of unwavering support for Israel’s deadly assault on the Gaza Strip.

Now, a centrist Democratic pro-Israel group is running an ad campaign in the state to persuade Michiganders to be vocal in their support of Biden — and tick the box next to his name on the primary ballot.

The ad campaign is the latest effort in the primaries mounted by Democratic Majority for Israel, which is closely aligned with the right-leaning American Israel Public Affairs Committee and fellow centrists of the Mainstream Democrats PAC.

“Voting uncommitted hurts Biden, which helps Donald Trump and his hateful agenda,” says the DMFI ad, which ran on YouTube.

DMFI’s attempt to bolster support for Biden’s campaign comes as the group and its allies are also spending millions of dollars to attack members of Biden’s party. The group’s political action committee, DMFI PAC, has also run ads attacking progressives in the 2024 primary races and spent millions against progressive candidates in recent years.

The moves are a Democrat-focused version of the wider pro-Israel push to unseat members of Congress who criticize Israel’s rights abuses against Palestinians, call for a ceasefire in the war on Gaza, and move to limit or restrict arms sales to Israel. The attacks have targeted progressives, particularly members of the Squad.

AIPAC, which shares donors and other connections to DMFI, plans to spend at least $100 million this cycle, making it one of the largest players in Democratic primaries. The group has also run an intensive effort to recruit challengers to run against several Squad members.

The DMFI ad comes just days before Michigan’s Democratic primaries, set to take place next Tuesday. DMFI, whose disclosures about the campaign have not yet been filed, did not immediately respond to a request for comment about how much it spent on the ads.

Organizers of the campaign to select “uncommitted” say they intend the protest vote as a vote of no confidence on Biden’s support for Israel’s war on Gaza — and a warning that having voters dissatisfied with his position could come back to bite the president in the general election.

“This is not an endorsement of Trump or a desire to see him return to power,” they wrote on their website. “We are sending the warning sign to President Biden and the Democratic Party now in February, before it’s too late in November.”

The state boasts more than a quarter million Middle Eastern and North African residents, according to the latest census estimates, a community that includes many Palestinians and is in general more critical of blind support for Israel.

Michigan’s 15 electoral votes are key to Biden’s reelection chances. In 2016, Trump won the state by 10,000 votes, while in 2020 Biden took the state by around 150,000 votes. Moreover, Michigan had the highest young voter turnout in the 2022 midterm election, a benchmark that could be undercut this year as young voters overwhelmingly disapprove of Biden’s handling of Israel’s war on Gaza.

Polls conducted since October 7 indicate a tight race in the state, with Trump winning in several tests. A poll conducted this week that had Biden trailing by 4 percentage points to Trump also showed 74 percent percent of Democrats and 64 percent of independents in favor of a ceasefire accompanied by the release of hostages and provision of aid to Gaza.

The “vote uncommitted” push has the backing of an array of state officials, including Mayor Abdullah Hammoud of Dearborn, Michigan, which has the largest per capita Muslim population in the country, and state House Majority Leader Rep. Abraham Aiyash, among numerous other state and local officials throughout Michigan. (The Biden campaign did not respond to a request for comment.)

“I’m trying to scream from the rooftops,” said former Rep. Andy Levin, D-Mich., who was previously targeted by DMFI and supports the uncommitted effort. “You’re not going to win unless you change course.”

In October, DMFI PAC ran ads attacking Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., for calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and voting against a congressional resolution in support of Israel that did not mention Palestinians killed. Mainstream Democrats PAC, run by billionaire Democratic donor Reid Hoffman, also considered funding primary challenges against squad members including Tlaib and Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo.

While Luigi was terrified as usual, Mario glared at his brother’s counterpart, placing himself between the two men in green as best he could while chained up. Mr. L ignored this, pacing around his laboratory.

“I’ll keep you both alive, obviously, Mister-Jumps-All-The-Time is unfortunately necessary for the continued existence of the universe, and it just makes sense to keep a fully compatible organ donor around. But, alive and well are two very different things.”

“Maybe I’ll use you to test my inventions. You know, target practice, safety checks, that sort of thing. Or perhaps I’ll study you, see what exactly makes the Avatar tick.”

He paused and grinned sadistically at them over his shoulder, “Or maybe I’ll cut out the fluff and go straight to tor-”

“Alert: Incoming hostiles.”

“What?” He rushed over to the largest console, “Brobot, onscreen.”

The AI dutifully accessed the feed of one of the outside cameras, revealing a truly terrifying sight. In the distance stood the Sonic Movie 2 version of the Death Egg Robot, Digi Blade perched on one shoulder, a tiny pink dot that was probably Desmond at full power hovering near the other, and a variety of badniks surrounding it. Mr. L’s eyes widened.

“That’s a huuuge bitch!”

“It appears we are being hailed.”

“Patch it through.”

The image changed, now showing Sage floating slightly above the robot’s control platform, Franky barely visible in the copilot seat, “Hello Mr. L. I believe you have something that doesn’t belong to you.”

“Oh, I think I can argue that point. Besides, they aren’t yours either.”

“Perhaps not, but a few close friends of mine care a great deal for them. They have business with your associates however, so we came in their stead, unfortunately for you.”

“Hah! You don’t scare me. It’s gonna take more than raw firepower to deal with the Green Thunder, little missy.”

“I’m well aware. Enjoy your last remaining moments of confidence, you mediocre mad scientist.” She cut the transmission before he could answer, and the lab shook as she began her assault.

“Shields are holding. Deploying countermeasures.”

“Good, keep me updated.” He glared over at his prisoners, “This means nothing, you know. I won’t be defeated by a bunch of brats, no matter how strong they are.”

Elsewhere in the facility, Floyd released the intangibility and invisibility she’d been hiding Jubjub, Cody, Bowser Jr. and herself with, “Man that takes a lot out of me.”

In response, BJ held out his magic paintbrush so she could absorb some of its color and regain her energy.

Cody pulled out a tablet with an Eggman emblem on the back, “Okay, if Sage’s info is right, this map should give us the safest path to Mario and Luigi.”

Jubjub looked sadly at a family photo he was holding, “Boopkins…”

“I know buddy, but we couldn’t risk whatever Rose would’ve done if we’d tagged along, this is the safest option.” Though he felt it would be safer if he was in the robot with Sage and Franky instead of in here slowing the rest of the infiltration down. Wasn’t like he had much other than tiny kitten claws to work with if they were spotted.

Once Floyd was back to her usual level of exhaustion, BJ took the lead, pulling his old blue Mario Mustache bandana over his muzzle and taking on a glossy translucent blue sheen, “Okay guys, let’s go save the Mario Brothers.”

(They probably end up in a fight against Mr. L and Brobot M-Type at some point after this, but I'm not great at fight scenes)

The Ledge #571: New Releases

The first Friday of June means we have nothing but new releases on The Ledge, and it's quite the lineup tonight. There are artists from all over the world, ranging from just a mile or so from my home (Thought Patrol) to Germany (Hamburg Ramones, Berlin Blackouts), with additional stops in Italy, Norway, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries). There's the return of a ton of veteran artists, including Rancid, Graham Parker, The Aquadolls, and Joan Jett. 

Most importantly, at least for me, is the brand new project by Tommy Stinson. Over the last few years he's been touring with his pal Chip Roberts under the Cowboys in the Campfire moniker, and today sees the release of their debut album, Wronger. While a bit quieter than we're used to from the former Replacements bass player, it's still quite a record from the hardest working member of the legendary band. 

Of course, we begin with the latest in the "52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks" series, and this time it is nt a new release. This version is from the French band Nouvelle Vague, an act that was created to remake classic punk and new wave songs in bossa nova versions. Yes, it's a little bit of a departure from the normal covers of the song you've heard over the last five months, but it is definitely worthy of includsion.
