hey guys. since it's starting to get a lot warmer out, so some people may wear shorter sleeves. if you see scars (and you know what kind of scars I'm specifically referring to) please don't judge and stare at people's arms. coming from someone who has those scars, it makes me self conscious and I don't think I deserve to feel insecure for wearing weather appropriate clothing.

Ted Lasso fic writers are doing the lord's work. Stuff of heroes, truly. And I understand that loads of them are not actually English, which is cool, that's representative of the audience of the show.

But I wish that everyone understood that Wembley (the location of the FA Cup semi final in 2.08 "Man City") is a London based stadium, actually very close to Richmond, and that it's the home base for English Football in general, the England national team, and cup finals, and so on. Rather than it being Man City's home base in Manchester.

Given we are getting an episode at the Etihad, City's real home base, later in the season, maybe that'll clear things up? But in 2.08, both teams were entering a neutral space important to English football, and they were only about 10 miles from Richmond (with Manchester being a 4 hour drive north.)

IDK, 2.08 made this pretty clear in my opinion. The way the commentator talks about Richmond being the last London club to make their Wembley debut. The way they go out on the pitch to take it all in. (They wouldn't do that at the home ground of some other team, because a) they'd have played there every year, and b) they treat that moment like they have equal claim to the space, honoured to be there.) The way that Beard walks off into the night and gets home on public transport, including London buses, in 2.09.

I have to assume that most people do know this, but I've seen this error in fic a surprising amount of times: the assumption that they're in Manchester that episode, talking about travelling home from there or whatever, or that they're on Man City's turf, or talking about the James incident and the hug as "what happened in Manchester," that I am, confused to say the least about how this ended up being the takeaway for at least some people.

So if anyone did have that assumption and they happen to see this post... Wembley is in London and it isn't Man City's home ground. Mistaking the location of Wembley is kind of like assuming Madison Square Garden is anywhere other than New York - there are concerts and huge events there too, it's a known cultural venue - except for that Wembley isn't also the home ground of any one league team like MSG is for the Knicks. It's a place of honour for all English football teams.

BINDER PSA

Ok my dudes, here is your reminder to clean your binder, even if you haven’t worn it for a while, and even more so if you have been!

I haven’t worn either of my binders for about 6 months due to it being colder outside and being able to layer up, however its getting warmer and i decided it may be getting time to ware them again. (Context due to sensory issues I’m very weird about wearing clothes that have sat somewhere for a long time close to my skin, they feel like they get a film of dust or something on them and in the past i have gotten rashes from bedsheets that sat in a drawer for too long so i like to play it safe.) I cleaned them before i put them away for the winter but obviously not well enough as my garment clean freak ass washed them again before use and the water that came out was fucking beige! Im probably embarrassing myself by saying this but i feel like i can make this into a learning experience.

I know some people cant reliably clean their binders due to unsupportive family or maybe your mental health is just down the toilet and you haven’t been able to do upkeep on your binder. But please please wash them when you can. When i wear mine i wash them regularly and even then after sitting in a draw unused mine were still not clean despite looking clean.

These garments sit right on your skin and could lead to skin irritation and other issues if not taken care of properly, and they can still look and smell clean even if they are not. I know its hard for people within certain situations to clean them but please please find a way to do it at least semi regularly, weather that means setting calendar reminders every week, or taking the chance to clean them when your parents aren’t home for the day, or even taking it to a friends house where it would be possible to wash it and do it there.

If you are unsure of how to wash your binders there are plenty of explanations online and where ever you got your binder from will probably have a page on their site dedicated to it, but the way i do it (that is similar, though not the same, to how its described by spectrum outfitters, which is where i purchased both of my binders from) is as follows:

You will need:

A sink or washing up bowl (a washing up bowl is good because if your unexpectedly interrupted you can kinda temporarily whisk the thing away to a safe location)

Access to a faucet/tap and a drain (already taken care of if youre using a sink or are in a bathroom)

Laundry detergent, not much, maybe half a cap at most.

A clean towel

About 45 minutes (minus drying time, but you can probably put your binders somewhere safe to dry if thats a concern)

Steps:

Clean the washing up bowl/sink/whatever you’re going to be cleaning your binder in, this is an important step that can easily be forgotten about!

Fill your washing up bowl with lukewarm water, half way is probably fine, you dont want it too shallow but at the same time your binder will probably float slightly no mater how deep the water is, just make sure its submergible.

Put in your detergent and swill it around a bit so you know it’s incorporated into the water instead of just sitting at the bottom (a good way of doing this is actually pouring it into the water stream as you’re filling up the tub because it properly incorporates it but it can be a bit finicky to do.)

Next is to put your binder into the water and pretend to be a ye olde washer woman for at least 2 minutes. You want to agitate the fibres and make sure the fabric is fully saturated with the water and detergent, you can kinda go wild with this stage as long as it wont damage the binder. swish the binder about, un-submerge and re-submerge it, spin it around in the water, go hog wild! Make sure you get an arm work out from it!

After swishing it around let it sit for 30-35 minutes, this is where the magic happens and all the dirt actually loosens off and gets off the thing.

After letting it sit empty out the bowl and refill it with clean water, rinse off your binder, do this enough times until any residue from the detergent is gone.

Once you do that press it flat in a towel to get most of the water out, if you do it well enough it shouldn’t be dripping and you can hang it up to dry somewhere.

I hope this helps people with looking after their binders, i will now see myself out and keep on being cringe.

Shipping Stuff:

The mun of this blog is shipping trash. I'm not only here for ships, but I'm not going to lie, I'm like... 75% here for ships. It's my RP experience and I make no apologies.

Ships are chemistry based and must be discussed beforehand. I will never force a ship or assume you're interested in one even if A ) our muses are together canonically or B ) I have our muses listed as a fave ship. Please don't assume or force a ship on me, either.

There's a "shipping info" section on each of my muse's bio pages in my card listing some of my favorite ships and any ship restrictions for them. I'm firm on my restrictions, but I'm open to exploring additional ships even if they're not listed in my favorites if you've got one you'd like to pitch!

As a general rule of thumb, my muses are portrayed as demisexual and demiromantic. I'm pretty openminded with my ships. Mortal Kombat PSA: Intro Dialogues and Character Tower Endings are NOT CANON

It seems that this isn't as commonly known as I thought, but this is NOT NEW. For as long as MK has had intro dialogues and character tower endings, they have NOT been considered inherently canon.

Character endings can often contradict each other because they are usually non-canonical until/unless they are proven canonical by the events of the NEXT game. Some will be canonical, some will be semi-canonical, and some will have little or no ties to the story. Here's a pretty good breakdown of canon endings for the arcade era + Deadly Alliance.

Intro dialogues should be taken even less seriously. They will often contradict the story and each other or include jokes and references that aren't supposed to be taken seriously as part of the story. For example, in MK11, Kung Lao has an intro dialogue where he says he is on a mission for Damashi. This is just a reference to MK Deception, and not mean to to be taken seriously as part of the story or evidence that Damashi/Onaga exists in the second timeline.

This isn't to say that these aren't important or should be disregarded! They're still fun, some of them do fit into canon, and many contain interesting bits of world building or character building (many of which I enjoy incorporating into my own headcanons or fanfics).

However, character endings and intro dialogues should be taken with a grain of salt, and should NOT be used as definitive proof that something is canon unless it's also backed up with something from the story as well.

I am finally on a platform that allows long form thoughts and some level of nuance, which after twitter, is a godsend.

An important thing to know About Me, and how I envision my account Working is that....the vast majority of the time, my posts are intended to be educational. I want my account to be USEFUL to people who are trying to learn more about Dick Grayson, because he's awesome. On twitter, this means that I've sorta got a rep as a person who posts "Objective" stuff. Which I'm mostly happy to strive for.

However. The other thing to know about me is that I am absolutely a ride or die for Dick Grayson, and I have a dry sense of humor. So sometimes, I will post intentionally absurd stuff because it makes me laugh, but I don't think would actually be realistic. For instance, I joke that every new Batman book that's announced should instead be a Nightwing book, because they have all the same skills but Nightwing is actually a good character. That is me using my fandom to poke fun at the most popular comic book character's absurd number of books. It isn't meant to be mean to fans of Batman.

That said, I do ALSO have a few semi hot takes in the fandom, which can be summed up in somewhat inflammatory sentences, but when I explain my thoughts people get it. They don't always agree, but they see where I'm coming from. Those will be posts of their own on here eventually, so you'll see what I'm talking about.

if my rp partner goes into a thread with me assuming something about my muse even though I make it clear that my muse is canon divergent. I'm absolutely free to IM if you have questions! I'm friendly and don't bite, i promise. QwQ

when i can't figure out your blog. please, readability is the most important thing to me. which is why the most I do is small text. I will change my theme if I think even one thing is making it unreadable or even slightly harder to read. bright harsh colors as well, makes the blog a mess to read anything on.

not trimming your posts. it makes it hard to follow whats going on sometimes. even if tumblr now makes long posts auto readmore. (at least it does for me)

i do prefer that ppl tag their posts most of the time, but that's not really a requirement if it's not like for a trigger or something. it just helps me search for stuff on their blogs if i can't find it through our notes.

PSA: Writing is a cultivatable skill, not an innate talent.

​I am hugely flattered when people tell me they think I'm a good writer (personally I think I am 'reasonably capable') BUT in any conversation about my writing, it's VERY important to note that I've been writing for fun in some capacity, pretty much daily, since about 2002. The way that I got "good" at writing was by doing it. A LOT. (Trust me: I still have some of the old stuff, and looking at it makes me CRINGE. Hard.) So please, don't ever look at your own writing and say "Other people are better at this, why should I bother?" There will always be someone whose writing you look up to, and that's okay. If writing brings you joy or you have a story you want to tell, you deserve to do it! The worst that will happen is that your writing will get a little better with each thing you write.

Sleepy and I were chatting about it and since it's fresh on the mind I just wanna make mention that my portrayal of Zack has a larger nose because I know his nose shape keeps changing throughout his appearances. The reason I think it's important for me to specify is because (as far as my portrayal goes) Zack's nose is a very important feature in his identity and feeling closer to his mother's side of the family and her ancestors since he's of mixed heritage, him having the larger nose that he does is a point of pride for him and while it's not often brought up in threads, there will definitely be times where he'll be talking about or thinking about his own features and how they make him, him as well as when he refers to his mother's impact on him both personality-wise and physically since a lot of his features come from his father. ( He is a mama's boy! ) It's not super important as a whole but it's something important to me and something I wanted to get out there because there's so many differences in the way his nose is shaped between CC, CCR, and even Rebirth, as pictured in a semi side by side.

Compared to his appearance in Rebirth where it's something closer to an in-between with a slight hook to the bridge
