I just made this acronym up and if anyone needs this for science to help memorize the periodic trends, here it is!

Atomic radius

Ionization energy

Reactivity

Electronegativity

Electron affinity

Almost all of the trends go up and to the right = stronger, with the atomic radius going down and to the left = stronger!

To any of my vestibular migraine friends: pressure reducing earplugs!!

I’m not sure exactly how each person is affected as there are a range of symptoms even in specific types of migraines, but for me most of the time I feel like there’s pressure in my ears, basically like how you feel on a plane but all the time.

I’ve been looking for a solution because obviously it’s very uncomfortable and fucking hurts, and recently I’ve tried pressure reducing earplugs that are meant for air travel. They’re not perfect but it reduces a LOT of the feeling! Plus they’re fairly inexpensive, mine were $8.50 CAD but I’m sure you can find them cheaper. The package says for best results they can be used a maximum of 5 times, but of course my broke ass is using them until they’re completely useless. (For anyone complaining about the sustainability may I remind you billionaires are the ones majorly fucking over the planet and medical devices are necessary for us.)

Just sending the recommendation out there since I know there’s not a lot that helps chronic migraines and doctors often don’t know what to recommend. I looked them up on my own after I saw them in a pharmacy and wondered if they’d work or not.

so go to the site version of tumblr (idk how it would be on mobile ver), click on "Account".

Then, click to "Blog Settings" (do NOT click on "settings" in the UI, you go to "Account" first.)

Then, scroll down and you should see this option, it should say something like "Prevent third-party sharing for (your username)"

make sure it is check marked, and you're done! However, this only covers one blog at a time rather than the entire account, so make sure to do it to any and all sideblogs. Hopefully this helps!

Hey there!! I'm planning to go study a Bsc in zoology like you and I'm so confused about student finance, maintainence loans, when I apply for study finance, student accommodation? Do you have any tips? Thank you!

my best advice would be to apply for student finance as soon as possible (you can find it by searching for student finance england and making an account). I'm pretty sure that you can start applying in march (which is what i wish i had done) but if like me you forget. my application was still accepted in august so i wouldn't panic too much. as far as i know no one has ever been refused. having said that i can only talk about my personal experience as a uni student in the uk.

the aplication for your student finance and mentance loan are combinde but separated into two sections. you will be asked questions such as "what is your house whold income" and "where will be your place of residence during term time". these questions are to determin if you are elegable for the full mantance loan or the minimum.

all students that apply for it will get the same amount of money sent directly to there university to pay for the course. your matince loan shouldn't need to be spent on that. what it will need to be spent on is paying to stay in uni halls, food, bills (if there not included) and any leisure activities you might want to do during freshers week

and there's various options when it comes to university accommodation. for me i am living on site but i have a feeling that each facility will be different. with my university the applications opened in January. i feel like it is more important to apply for this as soon as you can because places tend to fill up quickly and you might end up not being able to get a spot reserved.

Old worldbuilding map

I felt the need to unwind a little and remembered that I have this little (10x18k pixels) labour of slow and unmethodical love. The setting behind it has been brewing in me for almost nine years now, and will take some more time before it, if ever, becomes anything publishable.

Such timeframe has made it unwieldy at times. Back in 2014 I carelessly lifted themes from every game I was into (mainly Warcraft and HoMM3), and this approach remained as my interests changed. Instead of poorly drafted epic tales I moved to poorly drafted conlangs and histories.

Eventually themes of empire and expansion emerged at its core. Is conquest ever justified? Do the cultural scars it leaves ever heal? For the last semester I kept pestering my professor who taught Displacement in Roman Literature class, asking about creative applications of literature on space and displacement. This passion project was among my main reasons.

It is still a work in progress: for every empty spot on the map there is a dozen conceptual gaps. Most of all, I am struggling to assign a form and an audience for it. I'd ran one and a half pseudo-D&D adventures in it, have several different drafts for games - a Zeldalike and a (T)RPG - but these have to be localized stories. But the main thing I like in this idea is the view through its ages, a discussion about cultural development.

This too has solutions. The Zeldalike draft is narratively focused on its characters seeing how their respective cultures shaped them and learning to overcome it; and the D&D adventures had been placed in different times with metatextual intent. But who on earth would play this?

For the TMNT Role Players who are easily overwhelmed/overstimulated or don't feel comfortable with weird anons. (Especially the younger role players)

It's best to not tag your role plays with main tags like:

It should probably keep out the weird people who try to ship blogs or keep the creepy part of the fandom out of your inbox.

It could also help if you put in your bio description or pin a post saying what things you aren't okay with being asked or portrayed in role plays.
