Fancasting for a Trigun live-action tv series/movie!! I know we got just Trigun Stampede, but we can’t let Cowboy Bebop get a live action and not Trigun right??

For all my selections I would say about 75-80% are actors I have seen in one or more of their most well known roles. For anyone else I narrowed down to 2-4 options and I did extra research into their filmography, interviews to hear their voices and general vibe, etc. And I also looked at what kind of roles they trended towards—sci-fi/fantasy and superhero media giving them bonus points.

See below for info about the actors and my runner up choices for each character. I included tidbits like their age, height, and notable roles.

For Vash and Knives I wanted to first look for real life identical twins. After some research, I believe I found a fitting pair. Cole and Dylan Sprouse, best know for their childhood roles in the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Although I don’t think I knew their adult roles as well as their Zack and Cody days, that real twin dynamic just adds that extra layer.

Of the two, I found Cole having a softer look, and lately it appears he’s been going with black hair which seemed fitting if we think about black-haired Vash at the end of TriMax. Dylan’s look has just that different sharpness and edginess that I slotted him to Knives.

Ruby Cruz (Kit Tanthalos, Disney+’s Willow) is a very talented young woman and recently made a feature length movie debut as Hazel Callahan in Bottoms (2023) and will be starring in an upcoming rom-com The Threesome. (See notes about edit below.)

Milly was a tricky one for me. I have a couple of runners up below. My current pick is Mina Sundwall, especially for her role as Penny Robinson in Netflix’s space family drama Lost in Space.

Although I’m on board with the HC that Wolfwood is Latinx, I had to go with famous werewolf Jacob Black from Twilight, Taylor Lautner. I got a couple other choices below too.

Liam Hemsworth (or Chris idkkkk). Nuff said?

Rem was a bit hard to choose. I had to go with Candice Patton as a personal big fan of her role as Iris West in The Flash as a DC fan. She has just the right oh-crap-I-have-kids-I-am-not-prepared-at-all motherly acting vibe down pat that is essential for Rem.

Despite the fact that Christopher Daniel Barnes is always smiling in photos, his breath of filmography makes him such a good fit for wise Drunkle Roberto.

Being so effing hyped about Nicholas playing Lex Luthor in Superman Legacies (2025) he has the perfect mix of heroic and villain roles for Legato’s psychotic righteousness. And he’s already had blue hair (and fur all over his whole body) as Hank “Beast” McCoy, c’mon too easy.

Zazie Beetz… that couldn’t have been a coincidence? Like Studio Orange must have know about this actress when they worked on the Beast’s revamped design. For a second option I’d probably pick a child/adolescent actor but Zazie can pretty much take whatever form they want, so why not both? Edit: I’m going with Scarlett (Trixie from Lucifer). Very very talent young woman. She’s funny, smart, sassy.

oh yeah, that's a trivia in Crisis Core.

in Crisis Core, Zack (that you play the whole game) can join the fanclub of the 3 most popular SOLDIERS, Angeal, Genesis (who has two fanclubs because god forbid we don't put extra focus on Gackt's self insert), and Sephiroth.

(Zack eventually get his own fanclub during the game also)

anyway if you manage to join Sephiroth's fanclub (you need to answer some trivia about him to get recruited), you will regularly get mails that are trivia about Sephiroth.

In those mails, you learn that Sephiroth spends a whole bottle of conditioner a day on his hair, indeed.

Note also that it's heavily implied that Hojo is the headmaster of the Fanclub and that he's the one offering those information to the public (while hiding his identity, mind you). So we're talking about Sephiroth's birthfather and the man who raised him into a weapon.

So what i'm saying is that Hojo was the original parent-vlogger that made his child's life miserable by reporting everything he does. (That, and all the ways Hojo made Sephiroth's life worse.) Crisis Core was warning us about this type of parenting since 2007.

And that's my hot take.

But yeah, so, point is, it's a canon fact and something you learn in game while playing Crisis Core, it's not even just an info from a guidebook or anything, no, you like, wander around as Zack, gets an email, wonder if it's going to be something important, and then it's just "Sephiroth use one bottle of conditioner a day". Crisis Core is such a funny game.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Review Chapter 12

Okay, this collection of posts will be filled with spoilers, including clips and screenshots, so if you don't wanna see things, then don't look. Some of the things I'm gonna highlight will include references to Remake and other sources to link with the overarching plot. This is a straight path playthrough with no sidequests or extra content.

Onto the guilded saucer!

First things first, we gotta find Dio, and with arrangements made to represent him in a battle royale the next day (yeah it's the OG monster battles only way better) we head off to get some sleep.

Entering hotel we hear an announcement that a contest to become Rosa for the play is over and they're not accepting more entries, and yet as we pass Aerith we see her writing up an entry that she not only enters late, but wins. Because that's how things go when you're the Mary Sue and decide you wanna do something.

Yes this annoys me. If a contest is closed then you don't get to enter, let alone win. This is bullshit.

Anyway, Cloud has a two hr nap in which we get another sneak peek into Zack's world where he hears a bunch of confusing info from Marlene before heading off to find help for Cloud, but gets intercepted by a note from Biggs.

Back in the main scenario, Cloud has a date. What happens on each date is specific for Cloud's feelings to them, though all the dates are optional and there's no default.

Jessie plays a vr ballerina version of Rosa, which makes Tifa and Barret cry.

The second stage of the play is viewer interactive where the audience can take the role of a character in it.

There's three battles and some fun dialogue choices. If you confess to Varvados instead of Rosa, Barret breaks character for a second to be all "are you kidding me with this?" 🤣

The third act of the play is the contest winner singing. Yeah, I'm still annoyed they let her win a closed contest and somehow have music and production cued to the lyrics she hastily scribbled down within two hours of learning about the contest.

After the play is the gondola ride, although it's now called the sky wheel. Each date has a different conversation and plays out to a different mood depending on how Cloud feels about them.

In both Tifa and Aerith's dates we see a flashback to Tifa telling Aerith about how Cloud recalled Zack. This is before she started writing the song lyrics. Tifa tells Cloud she hasn't had a chance to. Aerith tells him nothing important was spoken about.

Tifa goes onto imply she's aware Aerith has feelings for Cloud, and Cloud reassures her the only one he has feelings for is Tifa before they share the only kiss in the game.

The following day we see the Turks on approach to the GS before we hit up the arena and get into a series of battles that ends in a second round against corneo and his sewer monster.

Obviously our heroes win and give him an extended cut of their threats from Remake before he runs off to go harass people in Wutai ready for part three.

The devs in a shady bit of piss taking, have Cloud and Tifa high five just like he did with Aerith in the last set of coliseum bouts.

With Dio triumphant, we're about to get the keystone when the Turks get in the way. Cait Sith betrays us and the party splits to chase his traitorous ass down.

Cloud, Tifa and Aerith are our trio for the rematch against the Turks but before we're done, Rufus shows up for another one on one with Cloud.

Why? Who knows. He's a petulant sob who doesn't like losing 🤷

After Cloud kicks corporate ass, we go on a kitty hunt, but one that's more serious than finding Tifa or Betty's kitties.

When we finally catch up to Cait, it's too late to stop him. The Turks leave and Cait has to face the music. Tifa stops Barret from shooting him, but everybody has had enough and leaves him behind after Vincent lets them know he can find the Turks location.

The play itself is the bulk of the chapter and we get three different versions of it. I honestly have very little interest in Loveless and I found the first part kinda dull. The interactive part is fun and also has slight differences in dialogue and actions between each of his dates. I've only played Tifa's because, frankly, idgaf about the other dates. The intimacy between Cloud and Tifa on the sky wheel is everything and I'm so glad they showed how proactive Cloud is with her. He initiates the kiss and everything else. He engages her with conversation. He's the one staring at her while she's looking at the fireworks. He's being shown as very much into her.

Welcome to the Pot of Gold exchange!

This March, things are looking a little sunnier around Redwood: maybe not the weather, but the Leprechaun Committee (that's Fleet, Beth, and Val) are working determinedly to lift spirits, at least.

These three will be setting up a kissing booth in the community centre (hand-holding or hugging also offered) where anybody in need of a little extra affection can come claim some from one of the Committee!

The other part of the Pot o' Gold involves the Niceness Exchange. Each person who signed up (or was signed up involuntarily) has been assigned a recipient. Before the end of March, the giver will need to do something nice for their recipient. There's no rules on how big or small, simple or complicated, this gift of niceness needs to be!

The Kissing Booth will be a temporary channel in discord, so if your character is visiting, just create a new thread with your character name and the name of the Leprechaun they want to interact with. These interactions can be super short if you like! <3

The only rule is to have done something with this by the end of March. If your character hasn't either delivered or refused by then, the Leprechaun Committee will pick up the slack AND publicly shame your character. They're meaner than they look. XD

Normal update, autumn??? XXIII

Okay, so I thought it would be a nice, winter quarterly update but turns out the last one was titled summer and I guess going by calendar, winter barely started so it's??? autumn??? I guess??? Last day of the year but autumn, sure, let's go with that. That being the case, I have no new year's pic for y'all cause I can't draw I was devving uhh, rly hard, let's say. Totally.

Anyway, the mushroom jam has ended and I planned to have a release update BUT THEN I DIDN'T FINISH THE GAME ON TIME YET AGAIN, who would've thought, so, like, there's nothing. I mean, something exists but yeah >_> I'll write a devlog when it finally looks presentable. Moving on...

Current game stuff

The spooktober game has been finished, kinda - The enmity of dead things. It, well, it works and it contains the full script and everything but lacks both art and music cause I couldn't finish it on time laziness goes brrr. Then I wanted a break and worked on other games and kinda left it like that... So that's the first item on my "Finally finish it in 2024, you stupid fuck" list. All in all it wasn't a total failure and I had fun for the most part. Committing to my bad decisions [look at the textbox] is actually the main cause the game wasn't finished on time... You live and don't learn.

The failure of the year... Or quarter at least - Mushroom game. Despite being technically published to add it to the jam, it's so unfinished I won't even link it here. And it's all my fault cause I was being lazy and, as usual, forgot I can't actually program. Yeah...

Helped with Cool Days. There's really not much of my work there, I honestly considered making a new category for games I kinda helped with but tbh the amount of work actually finished was close to zero but hey, it's still more than nothing so Check it out, it has cool graphics.

The ace teens game got shelved/postponed and it's not my fault this time but instead we're working on a fantasy kinda thing for Ace jam [and maybe also Zack jam while we're at it but that might've been said in jest]. Fortunately it's small enough I don't expect any delays. I can say it involves a golem who isn't a humanoid (灬˘╰╯˘灬)♥｡･ﾟ

IMPOSTOR SYNDROME - is a game for winter jam which also happens to be a demo cause we ran out of time but! - it will be finished soon-ish. I'll share more details in the release devlog so if the link to the game works already, that means the page's up and so is all the info. If it doesn't work, check again in a few hours but I'm assuming most people who actually read all that will do so post winter jam anyway.

Genre wise it's an otome chat sim comedy that's extremely self indulged and I'm not ashamed of that. Gotta make games for yourself and all that. Though, again, my own conribution to the development process remains minimal. I'm truly becoming the idea guy.

The "Finally finish it in 2024, you stupid fuck" list aka the stuff that should've been finished already but isn't

Umm, yeah, everything. Or, to be more specific, Mushroom game and Enmity take priority here but all the other games that needed some quality of life adjustments like making the web build work on mobile etc are also included [which is kinda funny cause a lot of them could be corrected in like an hour if I actually sat and did just that].

It's been more than three years since I released Argousze and yes, you gessed it, it's also unfinished. Which is extra funny in a pathetic way cause it was supposed to be a low effort game with, like, 2k words of wordcount. To be fair I kinda dropped it cause I couldn't design my aliens but maybe I'll actually get a good idea for once and manage to release it on its fourth anniversary. That'd be nice.

Other than that, well... That's more of a resolution than anything but I should stop constantly joining new teams and all... And either take a proper dev break or work on ye olde projects waiting for me since the beginning of HS. I'll become older than my oldest LI before I finish them at this point lol

This year we're gonna have two new jams instead of one. Stuff happened and yeah. No links just yet cause not only are the pages not finished but there's also no planned date/duration beyond 'sometime in the later part of the year'.

The first jam is Tentacle jam which, I'm pretty sure, would bring us eroges. This was not my intention and all kind of sfw tentacles are allowed but tbh as long as there's a proper story, even a nukige would pass. Basically the rules remain like in all the previous jams I hosted.

The second jam is Insect [adjacent] jam which actually accepts all kinds of arthropods but it started as just insect jam and I wanted to keep the name. So yeah. Obviously more detailed rules of what's allowed would be written on the page when it's up properly and not in a half dead state like right now.

Incidentally, whatever the date ends up being, both of these jams would be hosted at the same time so if you wanted to make a story taking place underwater or something, you could submit it to both of these jams. Neat, right?

Understanding Sephiroth

Some backstory for those who are new to fandom and don’t intend on playing crisis core or just want to inhale the info asap

needless to say SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT TW: v1olence, su1c1de, ch1ld abus3

I’ve been in the FF7 fandom for over a decade and sometimes fanon bleeds in, sorry in advance

PRE CRISIS CORE EVENTS Sephiroth was conceived by Lucretia Crescent, a biotechnologist working for Shinra, the project was aided by Hojo (known extremely hateable person ahem I mean scientist) and Gast Faremis. Together they injected her and her unborn son with JENOVA cells, an extra-terrestrial they had mistaken for a species of ‘ancient humans’ called Cetra who had lived on the planet ages past and were alleged to be able to ‘speak to the planet’ and perform miracles. Why would Shinra want this? Because they believed the Cetra had access to ‘the promised land’ where they believed resources were abundant. ‘The oils running out WE NEED TO OPEN A PORTAL TO THE OIL DIMENSION.’ -President Shinra

aNYWAY that did not pan out, what they got instead was a super soldier ‘SEND HIM STRAIGHT TO WAR, AS SOON AS HE CAN WALK!’ -pRESIDENT sHINRA Back to Lucretia, she had been having horrible visions of the atrocities future Sephiroth would commit, but she still carried the child to term despite the visions and the bouts of intense pain she suffered, only for that fucker Hojo (aforementioned hateable person) to take Sephiroth away as soon as he was born (likely with Shinra clout to back up their potential oil dimension whisperer’s future as a mindless corporate zombie). Stricken with grief (and maybe realising this was a very horrible idea from the get go) Lucretia disappears (ahem she tries to kill herself but only succeeds in becoming a sentient fossil...)

So Sephiroth grows up presumably in a lab environment and is trained to be a soldier for The Shinra Corporation. Meanwhile on a farm or something Professor Hollander(major soy energy)

is working on making his own oil whisperer lab children. The 2 children are Genesis(zesty douchebag with mad fashion and a lot of resentment) and Angeal(ultimate strongguy dependable dude with lots of honour and dEPRESSION). Problem is Professor Hollander ISNT THAT SMART and he fucks up on the Genesis project ): ah well, he’ll live long enough to be a good child soldier? probably?

Part 3!! Sephiroth goes to war! (at the behest of the corpo Shinra) Sephiroth is presumably a CHILD when Shinra sends him to Wutai in a war of conquest for their sweet OIL I mean Mako, the war lasted a just under a decade and completely devastated Wutai, a fan theory is that Masamune (Sephiroth’s iconic blade) is from Wutai. During this time it would have become evident that Sephiroth is very strong (Genesis angrily weeping moment) and it isn’t long before he’s famous, with Shinra likely pumping out propaganda faster than they can suck the planet dry.

CRISIS CORE Enter scene, Sephiroth doesn’t know how to human good and his now friend (Genesis kinda hates him but Sephiroth smiles when Genesis reads him poetry so, go watch genesis vs angeal vs sephiroth cutscene for Sephiroth maximum zesty kitty eyes) ahem and his friend Genesis has a cut ): but he’s tsundere af and won’t let Sephiroth put a band aid on it, so Sephiroth stands there and his emotional constipation levels increase, Angeal consoles Genesis when the cut mysteriously won’t heal and Sephiroth isn’t allowed to help, so his emotional constipation levels increase eVEN mORE.(gosh he radiates 3rd wheel energy SO HARD) During this time where Genesis SEEMS TO BE DYING AND IT’S SEPHIROTH’S FAULT KINDA MAYBE (no it isn’t but look at his sad face ): he looks like he blames himself) Zack, new excitable puppy, tries to befriend Sephiroth in a monumental move that everyone else was too busy shitting themselves to even contemplate, Sephiroth stares at him like someone whose thought of human interaction but never tried it, miraculously it works and they exchange numbers and become kinda friends, more like fb friends. (it doesn’t) he makes a bunch of clones of Genesis so there is more suffering (: Sephiroth is ON THE VERGE OF TEARS but he holds it toge- Angeal forces Zack to kill him bc he believe he is an abomination and an insult against god... Zack got a BUSTER SWORD! wow! Sephiroth probably copes by working extra hard, he seems like the type. Now Zack also has depression ): Sephiroth just sees his dead friend when he looks at him holding the buster sword. (ok i’m projecting but it’s obvious)

Sephiroth is quite jaded, both with his inability to help either of his friends and Shinra’s involvement in their suffering when he’s sent to the Bavarian Alps I mean Nibelheim to fix a leaky pipe in a very sussy mission just because it’s such a lame one. They also send Zack (now SOLDIER 1st class) to help him bc thos pipes are treacherous. Sephiroth gets into the leaky pipe zone and GENESIS IS THERE he offers him an apple but Sephiroth only likes pears, affronted Genesis tells him he should help him to not die (like Sephiroth wanted to in the beginning) but Sephiroth tells him to fuck off and WITHER FASTER bc Genesis hurt his feelings so bad pensiveyeehaw Genesis drops a truth bomb on him that his mom is WEIRD and Sephiroth starts sweating nervously but leaves and goes to nearby SPOOKY MANSION where he finds loads of records about the JENOVA Project. He doesn’t sleep at all and locks himself in the library reading Hojo’s creepy scientifically inaccurate fanfics about how Jenova is super cool and humans are stinky and evil.

Then he SnAps and just kills eVERYONE in the village by the leaky pipe. ever lost faith in humanity? joker moment u wouldn’t get it...

Also ahem, but believing the planet was occupied by Cetra (he thinks Jenova is Cetra AND HIS MOTHER bc of Hojo’s fanfics) until they were driven to extinction by humans? Sephiroth having grown up used by humans to destroy and pollute the planet for the greed of others, used to complying with orders to kill, never being given his own freedom, discovering this and making his first radical choice not determined by Shinra? Maybe he believes it’s his choice but he exchanges one master for another, perhaps Jenova tells him that he must kill the humans that wronged her (he feels so very wronged) and he is so tired, gives up his will and follows hers, euphoric in the idea that he is loved and that he can help Jenova when he was unable to help his friends. Prolly a bit of that and a lot of mental break. The exact details of what happened in Sephiroth’s mind are not explained, it’s come to ur own conclusions time aw yeah.

im going to cry ff7 remake rlly is just sephiroth trying to write a time travel fix it (or whatev bizarre idea he has of fixing,,,) and just. making things a burning dumpster fire. wtf man look at what u did!! u made the main group fight the emobdiement of fate or whatev! u made parallel universes?? IDKK. when i watched a playthrough of it i thought it was like. a full redo of the og game following the plot exactly and that was my first exposure to ff7. but uh ig its,,,canon divergence?? an au?? nomura rlly went what if we let sephiroth write a (dubious) fix it. like ngl i am curious to see where it'll go but. it rlly is a trip finding that out ToT.

So I have played 80% of the original before I played the remake, so im aware of some differences. I played 70% of the remake but have not finished yet- but I spoiled myself and watched reviews so I know there's some time travel, multiple sephiroths, some very curious things afoot and most important - the potential for the remake to have a completely new unknown story than the original.

(On a fan level I am. Mildly annoyed because I only ever wanted a very easy thing: the original with just slightly nicer models than ugly Legos, and voice acting, for a remake. That's all I wanted. And apparently the mod Echo S for computer with the original steam version of ffvii will fulfill my wish for that eventually. So like I've long accepted that this Remake is not what I wanted, but instead more like yet another new addition to the compendium extended story of new FFVII materials like Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus were. Which when I view it that way, i like it much better. But still tiny bit bitter they never just went the much easier remaster route back in the ps3 era lol. I am also as a gamer a bit annoyed they padded the Remake part 1 wirh so many long dungeon segments the original did not have, void of story moments or any additions except extra game play time, when I'd have preferred a game taking me 20 hours to 40 but wirh more story content/meaningful content per minute but that's more my personal preference).

I am. Very fascinated by whatever the fuck is going on wirh sephiroth in Remake. By the fact my boy zack may be alive my fave ff character.

By rhe fact I have a theory this sephiroth may either be pre Nibelheim sephiroth (which was a lot more like zack fair and Angelus and might even ally with cloud) or post Advent Children like, which also would be a sephiroth more self aware of Aerith and Zack Fair and Cloud and what Shinra did, what the planet wants, how he was played personally when emotional etc. Which could also end up more finding himself allied instead of a full on bad guy this time around which would be fascinating, although it would be a bigger divergence. Especially with zack fair around, and zack fairs background as a work Peer of sephiroth who actually helped him and went thru being experimented on too. His connection to cloud and sephiroth and aerith, how that could affect who would be so hostile or less hostile to who. There is a Lot of cool room for exploration. Now... do i trust square Enix to logically thoughtfully explore these cool angles they have opened themselves up to? Lol well I'm not sure I do. But there's a cool potential to be sure

Anyway like you said IT SURE IS A TRIP FINDING IT OUT and I'm still contemplating tbh. Will be contemplating more wjen I beat remake or finish watching a lets play lol

I would highly recommend the original or a lets play though. If you can tolerate the graphics and age! The remake seems to be in a way JUST as much an additional new game, as Crisis Core was a prequel or Dirge of Cerberus was a sequel. So I feel like seeing the original is some useful plot info, and I'm not entirely sure the Remake moving forward will either go back to Similar to original or diverge even more thoroughly.

I'm happy to report tifa/aerith being super close was also a thing in the original and I love that, aerith being kickass and less shy than tifa was in the original like the remake, cloud is a tiny confused man pretending to be tough in both, Barret is fairly on point, and overall i found all the characterizations fairly good in tje remake (sephiroth is somewhat different but he's clearly not following originals plot so I'm not sure where he's at in his characterization arcs lol).

My Thoughts on Castlevania S3

So I cant sleep, I've binged this series twice now & I really need to get this out. For context on me as a person, I am an LGBT+ WOC (specifically Asian & bisexual). Castlevania is my favourite game series + the reason why I pursued Game Design as my career. The show means the world to me & I thoroughly enjoyed s3 for the most part. I acknowledge the flaws & these r just MY opinions, they do not reflect the other mods intentionally in anyway.

The art + animation was so CLEAN. There was not one scene that did not take my breath away. The attention to detail was phenomenal I have no words to describe it.

Some of the best fight scenes ever just ridiculous, it's like john wick. The action is upped every installment + its just so CLEAN

The entire team puts so much time + effort Into making Sypha such an enjoyable badass it's so amazing. I am never disappointed with her, never ever.

The lesbians. Striga & Morana, god I wish that were me.

Isaacs character arc was so good. Like the budget really went to Sypha + Issac this season LOL

Sumi + Takka, they meant so much to me. I love them, I really do. I cant say I'm not hurt seeing them at the end. I'm actually very hurt, my heart aches. I never thought I'd get to see representation like that in a series that I loved but felt idk invisible to. LGBT Asians in a historical setting outside of Asia, it was just...a dream for me. I fell in love w/ them instantly & I think that's why I tend to over look their faults a lot.

But when you see yourself on screen in something you've dedicated years to & you're just finally seen its...its so hard. The last time I felt this full was Shiro from V*ltr*n and we know how that shit went down. Idk I'm happy for what I recieved, grateful even, for however short it was. I loved their characters, i love sumi + takka i just wish they got a better ending. They all deserved better

After having watched the 2021 Snyder Cut, while not being the biggest fan of Zack Snyder, the two things I can truly take away from this movie are:

A- The studio did Snyder dirty, they completely sabotaged his movie because of racism and money mongering. They completely ruined beloved characters and reduced their complexities to being the comedic relief. The only character in the original that actually has complexity to them is Wonder Woman, and that's not saying much.

On top of that, they did it while Snyder was grieving his dead daughter. How fucking low can they get?

And B- Modern movies deserve longer runtimes, not shorter ones. Some of my favorite movies from the past 10 years all have at least 2 & 1/2 hour run times, some even hitting the 3 hour mark. I've noticed a trend among movies lately where the story is so utterly rushed constantly. Movies that deserve that extra time to flesh out characters or have some more explaining before time jumps.

The War for the Planet of the Apes was a three hour long movie that finished off the new trilogy reboot of Planet of the Apes. This movie was over 3 hours long, it was fantastic.

But, I cant tell you many others, aside from Avengers: End Games, that were actually really really well done and received. In my personal opinion as a movie enthusiasts as well as an unlicensed filmmaker, movies suffer from having too much story to tell and not enough time.

Let me use The Greatest Showman for example, brilliant movie that did wonderfully by both critics and the average audience, but by god, its pacing is a mess. The story of this movie is so fast, especially in the beginning, that it feels like you're meant to be getting emotional whiplash. I believe tacking on another hour or 40 minutes to The Greatest Showman would have fixed this issue.

The Pet Cemetery remake also suffers horribly from this problem too. Only being half the runtime of the original, it suffers from needing to info dump its watcher halfway through just to make time, even though this information should already be known to the husband who's being info dumped on. A movie that has such bad pacing because it have too much to tell in too little time, I honestly couldn't tell you the names of the characters because all of them are forgettable, because you dont know them. Let the remake be as long as the original, add in some extra time with the cast members, let the mom have a panic attack that establishes her backstory rather than info dumping, and stop trying to rush stories.

People always try to tell me that today's audience doesnt want to see a movie that's over 2 hours long because today's generation "has short attention spans because they grew up with the internet".

And all I have to say is "How fucking rude."

To even suggest that this generation cannot sit through 3 or 4 hour movies without getting bored is just a fucking lie. If your characters are compelling, your story is engaging, and the audience is actually sympathetic to the plight of the plot, then yes audiences will watch a 3 or 4 hour long movie. But of course you dont believe that they can, so you condense about 2 and a half, maybe even longer, worth of a story down into an hour, an hour and 40 minutes. You cut away at all the "unnecessary bits" in order to get the point across.

Do you big studios wanna know why your movies arent doing so well by audiences review anymore? Its because you dont give the audience the full fucking story anymore!

If your movie told in its entirety is going to be a 4, 5 hour long movie, either let it be long, or make a part 2. Stop being so greedy as to think that we would just consume this laziness without care. That we wont boycott your movies. That we cant just pirate movies and completely ignore even having to give you money. That we cant see the racism and sexism and homophobia behind your actions.

Stop thinking your better than the little guy because you have money. When in reality, you only have money because we let you.

Harry was extra charming and exciting today and we appreciate it! An absolute riches of content! But the ticket situation for the Fine Line Live show still sucks. First of all, thanks for the special code for the special people except wow y'all really just used that as a way to unload the crappiest seats yesterday huh? And not even very many of them! But I guess we should be grateful for any access since many of the other seats may not have gone on sale at all; it appears that the only 100 level seats that went on sale yesterday were the ones behind the stage, for example, but most of the really good ones of those appear to have been held back from sale entirely. It's all shady as hell and out of 17k $25 tickets 11k [edit: source on this number later called into question] of them have ended up on resale sites for hundreds to thousands of dollars each (going as high as, no joke, $90k) due to seemingly no anti-scalper measures being taken, not even a delay in ticket transfers, and it looks as if thousands more may not have been sold at all. Were whole blocks kept back for industry guests? Like to do that makes sense but thousands of them?? Some of these tickets might become available at the last minute but that's little comfort for anyone who would need to plan ahead to attend. Good damn thing you're so cute Harry! How to stay mad when he's out here playing hangman with his mysterious song titles on twitter?? He also commented on whether the supposed Watermelon Sugar lyrics on genius were real to say "I won't be justifying that question with an answer" which I took to mean of fucking course not are you crazy but some people are like so they're real then??? WHAT. Okay I guess... On top of that, last night unseen footage and stills were discovered, including a beautiful shot of Harry in a long ruffled shirt in a rainbow lake, from the unreleased and scrapped Two Ghosts video! The footage was used on screens during HSLOT but the unseen bits and context makes a lot more speculation about the video possible. The artist had posted it months ago but apparently shouldn't have: soon after it was found all TG content was quietly deleted from his accounts.

Louis had more promo announced including Tracks of My Years, a very good booking and something to look forward to! He'll have a spot every day next week talking about the songs he's chosen then the whole thing will be available as a podcast, and he has a new playlist up now on Deezer. We learned that he was doing music video shooting the last two days in Manchester- apparently he's joining the actors in the ongoing storyline that's been happening in the video series as part of the heist! I might even acquire an actual interest in this confusing het love story! Filming continued today without him while he was evidently hanging out at home commenting on Robbie Williams' livestream. He got shoutouts from the Donny Rovers who used WMI in a promo spot and from Pot Noodle who suggested he take his noodle tips out of interviews and into a cookbook. Louis was like, now that I'm a cooking influencer gotta get in with the right crowd, and followed Gordon Ramsay. DLIBYH was registered on another platform and does list Louis as a composer this time which makes a lot more sense so that's that put to rest.

Lots of Liam press in advance of Tuesday's TV special- he mentions shooting a video on the coast, very interesting! Unfortunately as a result of his tweet drawing attention to it, also a lot of press coverage of the questions about Maya's age. He took a fan pic and the important question- does he smell good- was answered! "Well guess what guys," we're told, "yes he does!"

Niall had a long, chill Zack Sang interview and the Graham Norton show aired, he chats with Olivia Coleman and performs. In keeping with today's theme, people being mad about concert tickets, he tells us that he's going to see MCR cause he knows the right people, and he says they won't actually be drunk all the time on tour cause they have to be in shape to perform, they'll play mini golf or something. He answered 'tour questions' on instagram which sadly ended up being a lot of talk about how venues get chosen which I guess is useful but not very exciting.

Zayn keeps teasing Flames but no solid info yet.

Q3: why did you start writing this character?: I’ve always adored Mike since he came out as a character and I seem to have a thing for kids of villains who aren’t villains themselves. I just saw a lot of potential in his story.

Q4: what first attracted you to this character?: Purple eyed inhuman being who’s life is a mess and his dad’s a villain. Also the theory that MatPat made back when he still thought Mike was CC where he’s a robot. I adapted that to my HC’s and made Mikey an android later on in the timeline.

Fanfic Writer Appreciation (and a little self love)

Sooooo, as talked about I wanted to do a little promo. I may not always be my favorite writer, but I try to be one of my cheerleaders. And well, if you’re here you obviously have some interest in what I’m up to.

SO! Here’s a list of my currently-published WIPs and some info about them, in the order that I’ve updated them, most recent to oldest.

Feel free to ask questions about any of them!

Dog Whistle (Ao3 || FFN) - started off as a prompt from @snackarey when I reblogged some Soulmate AUs. This one was a prompt for soulmates (Zack/Kunsel) who felt what each other felt - like pain. Needless to say, this went into a canon divergent AU where Kunsel felt some of what Zack was going through when Hojo got a hold of him after Nibelheim. And saved him, setting off an ever-increasing list of revolutionary consequences. It’s nearly 58K, and though I’m a little stuck I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Dewprism: Journey to the [Relic] (Ao3 || FFN) - this actually has a lot more written than I’ve posted, I just got a little frustrated because well... the fandom is teeny tiny and there’s no real feedback. But! It’s an interesting piece. It’s a semi-novelization where I’m taking the old PS1 Classic from Squaresoft, Threads of Fate/Dewprism and merging the two storylines. Basically... you can’t play the game anymore unless you got it from the PSN for your PSP or... PS2, I think? Or emulate it, of course, you can do that. And I wanted to bring the experience to more people, because it’s got such a great story.

It’s Not a Game (Ao3 || FFN) - this is my Avengers/FF7 crossover, and funny story, it was actually born out of a comment back on my old Genesis RP blog about how Genesis would totally be Tony Stark’s favorite character if he played Crisis Core. It’s turned into a full blown fixit I have a type and I actually have like, 90% of the next chapter done, it just doesn’t feel quite right so I haven’t posted it. And am, of course, stuck. There’s a case of choice paralysis here; the premise is that, in the MCU, FF7 is a series like it is in our world, and Tony is a fan. So he goes to make a simulation to do a self-insert... only he somehow transports himself (and Bruce) to a dimension where it’s real. A “Stark-insert” someone called it; and it does use a lot of “Self-Insert” tropes, actually. There’s just so many ways it could go that I’m stuck on choosing exactly how to progress here.

Party of Five (Ao3 || FFN) - the MMO AU! This was actually originally a prompt @up-sideand-down got, that I got permission to take off with. It’s a modern AU AGSZC where they meet online playing this MMO I made up that’s based off of FF7 and modeled after a mashup of like, me studying WoW and my experiences playing SWTOR. I’ve actually got some ideas of where it’s going, I just got too caught up in technicalities and need to reroute it back to the relationships going on.

Welcome to FF7 (series link, Ao3) - this is me hashing out basically what I think went down pre-games. Most of it is headcanon, I cannot stress that enough. It’s based off of the little we know, of course, but there’s just so much we don’t that it’s mostly headcanon. Tons of OCs. It’s a whole series, and they overlap - different sections that follow different departments, mostly. The base story is Welcome to ShinRa (Ao3 || FFN) and that follows the man who will become President Shinra from back when they first discover mako energy. I’ve also got Welcome to the Science Department (Ao3 || FFN) which starts off with college students Gast and Grimoire and how they get drawn into the beginnings of what becomes ShinRa Electric.

And last but not least, honorable mention to Times of Change (Ao3) - this was actually a piece inspired by @deadcatwithaflamethrower‘s Re-Entry series. I desperately need to reread that before I can hope to continue this, but... one day. One day.... I don’t suggest reading it right now, my headcanons have changed and it needs an overhaul. But you’ll see eventually.

Compilation of FF7

The Snowball Effect (Ao3 || FFN) ... sequel? continuation? - as one of the gift exchange presents I’ve just done this past month, it is definitely standalone as is, but if I ever figure out where I want to take it, I’ll continue that one. It was just far too much fun.

The Price of Freedom - the sequel to To Be Human, which... I’m looking forward to, but I really burnt myself out on TBH so it’s going to be longer than anticipated before I approach this one. TBH definitely stands on its own, but there were some loose ends left to tie up, so we’ll see how that goes. And when it goes, when I’m ready to approach that again. TBH needs some editing, too... lots of work there.

The Unnamed Pokemon/FF7 crossover that I’ve talked about for... a couple years now (yikes) but now actually have a plot for. It’s very interesting to me, putting Pokemon on Gaia, and seeing how that changes everything. Because like, they’d have presumably used Mew’s DNA since there’s no Jenova (I can’t see them using Deoxys, which would be the closer parallel) and since there’s no Chaos, Grimoire is still alive. Which means no extra Drama between Lucrecia and Vincent - and really, there shouldn’t be the stress between Vincent and Hojo over her being sick because Mew would theoretically be much more compatible with humans than Jenova was.

What I’m saying is Seph has three parents and at least one set of grandparents and a much more stable Sephiroth (and Genesis and Angeal, thanks to Lucrecia teaming up with Gillian) leads to some very interesting changes. Like deciding they don’t want to fight the Wutai war anymore. >_>

Hold My Flower - a timetravel fic featuring our one and only flowergirl, who has had enough of people messing up her planet and refuses to just... let it die. She is, unquestionably, a force of nature. No fragile flower to be found here, this is the gal you see in the OG who threatened a mob boss and meant it. Heaven help anyone who gets in her way. She’s going to save the world. Possibly in a Turk Suit, don’t look at me.

The Long Game - Reeve goes back in time, and holy crap this one is a monster I am truly intimidated by so it’s gonna take a while for me to get going on that. XD But basically, similar premise to the above - the world isn’t healing and someone has to do something, so Reeve is nominated due to his position in ShinRa and potential to... he’d say “influence” but let’s call a spade a spade - manipulate people and events to a more favorable outcome.

A third BIT fic is one that I started writing with my friend @askshivanulegacy back in... damn, somewhere between 2011-2013, before we switched to writing SWTOR fic together. It’s one where Zack is sent back in time, and the differences in him post-Hojo change things even before he can start deliberately changing anything. But I got permission to take and remake that, so I intend to, one day. It was Good Stuff. And you can never have too much timetravel.

Dragon Ball Z

So, this is an oooooold fandom of mine - the first fanfics I ever wrote (under a different name, no I’m not telling XD it was ten years ago) were for DBZ, and definitely the first ones I ever read, back in the days of dial up. And I read a couple interesting takes on Chichi/Vegeta fic... and I was talking with @vorpalgirl about it and said I’d love to try my hand at something with that one day. I think they have the potential to be a really great pair (don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the canon pairings but those two have a lot of potential) so... yeah someday I might dip my toes back into Z. It’s on the wishlist, as well as reviving and cleaning up an old unfinished work of mine. Someday~

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Seven Years Lost - this one I’ve been debating a long time, and even did a little on! It’s basically how I rationalize what happens when Link pulls the Master Sword out and - well, spoilers but it’s a really old game so - when he comes out as a teenager and is immediately able to handle a nearly-adult body. It involves a dreamscape scenario where he communicates with his past incarnations and learns from them, and from sharing dreams with Zelda due to their bond.

Sailor Moon (manga/Crystal based)

Second Chances - I read a lot of SM fanfic back in the day, and my favorite ones were... more real? Like, there were more consequences to these 14 year old kids out there fighting for their lives and sometimes losing them. I’d like to tell a story through Minako/Venus’ eyes primarily, covering what that’s like, and then I also just really want a happy ending for the senshi/shittenou? So... yay canon divergence, lol. You guys know the deal by now. XD

Star Wars: Legends Era

United We Stand - SWTOR fanfic, baby! Basically, I’m just dying to see the eight classes cross over each other, and I will bend canon to do it. For anyone that’s played the original class story lines, there is some cross over but believe me when I say there were huge opportunities that were let drop by nature of the game. Just with the two Jedi stories alone... but that’s #spoilers for a not-as-old game so I’ll leave that be and only elaborate if asked.
