OKAY SO
I just got (like delivered in the mail yesterday even though it's 1:30am here) the new Princess Diaries book, The Quarantine Princess Diaries and I finished it (LIKE COMPLETELY FINISHED IT) within 3 hours, if even that.
I cannot remember the last time I started an entirely new book and finished it in the same day, especially a book that's made for an older-ish audience (I really don't know how else to describe it) and it makes me so happy 🥺
My love of reading is starting to come back I can FEEL IT

Good news! You aren't required to make your hobbies and passions "marketable." In fact, your crafts, hobbies, and passions don't even need to be public if you so choose. You don't have to spend all of your energy becoming perfect if you aren't enjoying the process. You are not a product, you are a person, a creative, and your work also does not need to be a product.

sometimes you'll meet a person you've loved for so long, and then they will tell you they haven't felt the same about you. And you'll question them and gain so much clarity, that the love flies straight out of the window.
some people are meant to be lovers. some best friends. some good friends. some...just friends.
you think you were meant to be something more, but then you realise that you are only compatible in one way. there's nothing beyond that. and that's also not bad. it's not a downgrade, it's what's meant to be.

Was just thinking about the amount of animals Obi-Wan interacts with compared to literally everyone else and in the Clone Wars episode where Kamino gets attacked he literally gets saved twice by the same ray-like animal and just...
The growth from judging Qui-Gon for the 'pathetic lifeforms' he picks up to whatever he has going on during the Clone Wars era. He must have gotten that from Qui-Gon though, right?
And because it's my brain and it's rotting with all the star wars stuff I am consuming I was thinking of Obi-Wan saving all these creatures and the 212th having to deal with that. Surely they made one of the rooms pet proof in case one of them needs a new home. There also have to be clones who love that because of course Obi-Wan can't really take care of rescues on top of all his duties.
After the first few times this happens Cody learns to order animal food and other necessities. And if the Republic doesn't fulfill these requests or asks too many questions he'll just have to make sure to organize them on planet during the campaigns.

Finally got around to properly adjusting the shel rosh of my tefillin and actually wearing them for the first time in ages and I gotta be honest: there's no better way to start your day than to be so perfectly encircled in holiness. It's just this electric spiritual boost to have perfectly fitted tefillin holding you together and lifting you up.

I've come to the conclusion that loving young royals doesn't mean I can't be critical about it, maybe especially bc I love the show so much I have such strong feelings about it, good and bad and I can love parts of canon and agree with it and appreciate it but I don't have to love it all. I have accepted that it's okay if I don't accept the ending and I don't have to force myself to support it. It's okay to not agree with all of canon and it's okay to not side with all of the creators' intentions/views. Loving a show doesn't mean you have to take everything the writers say on face value and that's the only version that is allowed to exist. Canon isn't everything and fandom is about curating your own experience that makes you happy and not miserable. You don't have to dismiss canon in every aspect and ignore it entirely, that's certainly not what I want but there is a fine line between being canon respectful, allowing some parts to exist and sometimes, yes, you just have to say "fuck canon" and move on for your own sanity and wellbeing

Reasons I love the In Dreams episode
● Peridot and Steven focus!
● It's so funny that half of the episode is about how they both hate a reboot of a show they loved so much. They basically tried to write their own fix-it fic
● Peridot is fueled by her hatred of the reboot but also having fun with Steven and doing something they could enjoy together
● Honestly, as both funny and sad this episode is, it's also the culmination of Peridot's development with Steven. Her willingness to do something fun with him but stop the moment it hurts him or causes conflict shows how far she's come and it's great
● Peridot can draw and storyboard and I love that fact
● Peridot without her visor! Peridot eyes reveal!!
● This is the last episode where Peridot gets at least half the focus, what with her and Steven being the only two characters actually featured in the episode. Yes she does show up in the remaining episodes and with a brief important moment in the last one, but to me this episode feels like a send-off to her character in a good and warm way. Idk it's special to me

A thought just dawned on me this morning and I theorize the reason why so many people went up in arms in defense for the Sonic Movies was because they maybe thought my criticisms were being directed at Tyson Hesse by proxy?
So just want to clarify something here - if there was one western person who I'd absolutely, completely, 100% trust with Sonic
it'd be Tyson Hesse.
Literally everything this man touches is gold, I cannot stress enough how much I adore his work, Sonic or his own original stuff like Boxer Hockey and Diesel. I even bought the first Diesel issue from the original run over ten years ago!
It helps that not only does he speak and understand Japanese fluently, so the cross-communication between him and Sega must be much more stream-lined, but he also lived in Japan for a spin and his wife's half-japanese too I think?
He not only gets it from a cultural perspective but has the phenomenal amount of talent on top of just fundamentally understanding Sonic so well. If he were in charge of the movies from the get go instead of having to do damage control, I have zero doubt in my mind he would've knocked it out of the park and into the stratosphere where it'll dance in the constellations of mankind's best movie adaptations.
I trust this guy's work THAT much. I'm so happy he gets to work on it when he does!
Plus, it's super inspiring seeing someone from the fireball20xl days of internet fandom being so successful and well-regarded.
