Hi! I hope this isn't too weird but I recently discovered your blog and ao3 while on the hunt for good Lan Xichen content and they've both been absolutely sustaining me. I followed your twitter as well because I saw that you post your nsfw art there and it's been pending for a few weeks and I just wanted to quite literally? beg to be accepted and if there's anything I need to do to vet myself I can absolutely do that. Once again so sorry for being so unbelievably awkward please don't look at me
OMG I'm so sorry that I left your request hanging for so long!!! I stopped using Twitter as a New Years resolution, and I completely forgot that my MDZS art account was still set to private. You should be able to access my tweets now. Sorry about the delay 😭🙇🏻‍♀️ I hope you enjoy the NSFW!!

omg can you please talk about beefleaf as a ship, dynamic, friendship.
oh also what are your thoughts on that scene in last arc - when he xuan diguised as hua cheng comes to help them out for a bit and gives back sqx's fan - and when he sees sqx being himself still, his talking way and brag?, his laugh/antiques. he snorts/ humphs/ scoffs. honestly to me i loved that seen i just don't know how to explain my thoughts on hx reaction to that but i loved it.
thank you<33 [i love your blog sm]
*english isn't my first lang so forgive me for the grammar and wrong words that i might have used ig..
Sorry for taking so long to answer, this landed while I was on my way to Boston and I wanted to wait until I was back on my laptop to answer!
I also really like the scene where He Xuan gives back the fan because of how subtle it is--it's the kind of thing that you can miss if you're not paying attention. I think I probably missed it the first time I read the book and had to go back to verify. Doing it undercover is such a He Xuan way to handle it, too. He spends most of the book in disguise so it feels right that a big gesture like this would also be done in disguise.
My thoughts on them as a ship are mostly that I don't like the fanon focus on them as cute silly girlfriends. From what I've seen in fandom, their female forms are kind of just taken as representation for its own sake, but I think what it's doing as a metaphor is showing how both He Xuan and Qingxuan are not who they say they are. It's almost like a fun game to Qingxuan to flit around in pretty dresses and act like the arbiter of justice, but he's not even supposed to be there and the fact that he is there is actually the ultimate injustice. (Compared to Ling Wen, meanwhile, who is forced to present as male to even be taken seriously, Qingxuan just seems frivolously out of touch.) And He Xuan is obviously pretending to be Ming Yi, so there it's just like... a double reveal about "she's not who we thought she was." It's all disguises to He Xuan anyway, so why not throw some gender on there too.
Anyway, Shuangxuan aren't really that interesting to me as a ship until Qingxuan is being held prisoner in the creepy underwater prison--to me, they're a darkship that I would compare to Xuexiao in MDZS. I guess that's like... the moment that they're honest with each other? He Xuan reveals who and what he really is, and Qingxuan comes to the understanding that he didn't ascend on his own merit. That's when it's interesting to ask "so what if they're attracted to each other?" because now they have to contend with the issues.
The thing is that both of them care about each other, which is important to me for a ship (and also something that I think tends to be dismissed by people who don't ship it). Qingxuan clearly feels remorse and understands that he stole something irreplacable from He Xuan (who he genuinely saw as a friend while he was Ming Yi), but He Xuan doesn't blame Qingxuan and doesn't go out of his way to hurt him even when he had the opportunity to. It's not really enough for them to reconcile, but it sure is enough to play around with a doomed and toxic post-canon relationship.
Lastly... ghosts in TGCF can disperse if they give up on whatever's tying them to the world. I think Xuan Ji gives up her resentment for Pei Ming and is able to disperse and move on since that was what kept her there as a fierce ghost. He Xuan's revenge is supposed to be what keeps him around, but he doesn't disperse even after enacting his perfect revenge plot. His story is deliberately left unfulfilled because it's supposed to show that revenge is unfulfilling, but that also leaves a really nice opening for He Xuan to rediscover what it means to love instead of hate.
Also, Qingxuan definitely ascends for real sometime post-canon so they have time to work it out. MXTX herself told me so in a dream

Hi~~ i wish you have a nice day, I love your blog.
I'm quite new to the mdzs fandom but i already fed up with them. Just now, i saw some fans said that lxc being a complete jerk towards wwx and lwj. I know lxc made mistakes as well but being a complete jerk? And then proceed to say that the jiangs treated wwx like a real young master eventho he's a servant's son 🥲
I dont know anymore~
I'm so sorry for rambling here, i hope you dont mind.
Good morning anon, no need to feel bad, it's what I'm here for at times.
Personally, no I don't agree with the many more critical takes regarding Lan Xichen. He is not meant to be seen as a major part of the problem(tm) as others within story. He is simply a protective elder brother that is unfortunately kinder and ignorant in a world that is against that very character in a stage that caters towards the politically corrupt and taking advantage of those characteristics. He is not a cruel leader.
His sect at any rate isn't meant to be politically motivated and this is reflective of his teachings. Culturally if you are that heavily based within doaist teachings, it is not actually meant to be used for the political world. There are sayings that to be a good doaist, you aren't a leader or one to be equivalent to an emperor. You aren't meant for politics essentially other than advisory. Can this be disliked, of course, doaism is supposed to be the divorce of human strife from enlightenment, good and bad are not supposed to shake you as neither extreme are complete harmony.
His point narratively is what this practice means for people in the thick of these human issues and the counterproductiveness of pacifism in the face of needing to come to term with punishment of humans and the hypocrisy of this at times you have to fight with personally.
Wei Wuxian as well. He was treated alright and enough for him to be thankful and happy at lotus Pier, but realistically he was not treated well by several there, it was just that he weighed the good against the negative and was comfortable staying to find his happiness with the situation. However, with the given world building status is flung against him as having become too arrogant given he was born a servant's son, and the expectations of him were to also serve as such and obey. This is used against him by his guardians themselves, Jiang Cheng and the world as recompense for having raised him as a cultivator, he also told his own self whatever sacrifices made by him for it, was of an equal sacrifice for having been taken in and raised as such. This is a theme regarding those that are lower class, they are expected to show full gratitude and repayment that those of higher status do not.
"Consider it a repayment of my debt to the Jiangs,” Wei Wuxian added.
Jiang Cheng raised his head and looked at him with bloodshot eyes. “…To my father, my mother, my sister?” he asked in a hoarse voice.
Wei Wuxian rubbed his temple. “Forget it. It’s all in the past. Let’s not bring it up again.”
This wasn’t something he liked to keep reliving. He didn’t want to be forced to remember the sensation of having his core cut out while he was still conscious, nor want to be forcefully reminded of what a sacrifice it had been and what it had cost.
Had this incident been exposed in his previous life, he would most likely have laughed it off. He would have consoled Jiang Cheng with, “It’s really no big deal. Look at me, haven’t I managed for this long without a golden core? I still beat up whomever I want and kill whomever I please.” But he no longer had the strength to keep up a nonchalant act.
Truthfully, he wasn’t unaffected. Could a person so easily resign themselves to such a loss?
Of course not. It was impossible.
Wei Wuxian’s own pride when he was seventeen or eighteen had been, in fact, on par with Jiang Cheng’s. He had also been someone with strong spiritual power and exceptional talent. Even when he’d fooled around all day catching fish and shooting birds, and
climbing walls and playing pranks at night, he had still been leagues ahead of his fellow disciples who actually studied hard.
But whenever he found himself tossing and turning in the dead of night, unable to sleep and plagued by thoughts of how he’d never again follow the orthodox path to the mountain’s peak, never again display the astounding swordplay that made people’s jaws drop…he would turn his thoughts around with a simple fact. If it had not been for Jiang Fengmian bringing him to Lotus Pier, Wei Wuxian might never have crossed
paths with the cultivation world. He would never have been conscious of such a mystical and magnificent realm. He’d merely have been the leader of some homeless street urchins who roamed the streets and fled at the sight of dogs—or perhaps herded cattle and stole vegetables in the countryside, playing his flute and living one day at a time. He’d have had no way of cultivating, let alone a chance to form a golden core.
And at that thought, he’d feel a lot better.
So he treated it as a repayment of his debt, or an atonement for his sins.Treated it as if he had never obtained that golden core to begin with.
After bringing himself around so many times this way, he was almost able to actually feel as wild and carefree as he acted on the surface. He could even half-jokingly praise himself for the state of acceptance he had reached, while he was at it.
But all that was in the past.
His rationale is very similar to what those in poverty or on the cusp tell themselves, be grateful for what is given to you, no more, and always repay what others have given to you despite anything. Don't whine, take it, be grateful, don't ask for more, and expect to pay back in full due to integrity. Note that this is also what Jiang Cheng insists on, but the goals have constantly shifted as to what Wei Wuxian owes him. First it was because of his parents raising him, next, what he owed Yunmeng Jiang due to being a disciple, then, what he made Jiang Yanli "lose".
You cannot repay something that is not tangentially there any longer, hurt feelings do not have closure unless you have to lay them to rest. Wei Wuxian had done his all to protect the Jiang's son as expected and more. Yet this still is not him bemoaning the situation as he rationalized it was what he needed to do based on the chance he was given. Not many else in the work bother to do more than blame others or shift blame and responsibility.

so ANYWAY FLASH FORWARD YEARS FUCKING LATER yesterday i was looking for something to watch right and guess fucking what unironically out of the goddamned motherfucking depths of my subconscious comes out "mdzs" now i didnt even fucking remember what that was at this point in time so i looked it up AGAIN found out about it AGAIN and then STARTED FUCKING WATCHING IT and NOW literally RIGHT NOW im on the last fucking episode of the first season of the donghua and out of absolutely nowhere it just hit me over the head that YOU PERSONALLY are literally the sole reason why i got into this fucking thing YEARS LATER you somehow got a stranger into a new hyperfixation YEARS after they had last even seen your blog
so anyway ive been literally tracking down your blog for thr past HOUR i tried searching for you on tumblr ao3 AND google and i was just gonna give up and then somehow i actually FOUND YOU and again i have no idea whether youll even see or read this but i literally just wanted you to know that you SOMEHOW gave someone from years into the future a fucking hyperfixation which is wild and very very funny and that i am personally fucking victimised by you because my heart cannot fucking take this shit like god fucking damn
anyway god this was long if you ever see this i hope youre doing alright i dont know whether youre still writing or nah but please know that i always highly enjoyed your works when i read them and i still hold the same opinion about how amazing your writing is even now years later and yeah hope youre fine and your life is good cheers take care of yourself

Hello! I have looked through your resources for fic writers, but there was one piece of info I couldn't find: do women (and lol, in particular the MDZS women) have courtesy names the way the men do? Like Wei Ying --> Wei Wuxian or Lan Zhan --> Lan Wangji. I know the women play a much smaller role in the novel than they do in the drama so maybe it just isn't mentioned. If you don't know, can you point me to any blogs that might? Thank you!!
They do as far as I know but it doesn't come up much in MDZS.
The only ones who have courtesy names that I can remember off the top of my head are -
Luo Qingyang, Yu Ziyuan, Jiang Yanli
And I think that's it? We actually don't know their birth names though since, as far as I remember, it is never stated. But yes, women do have courtesy names too. We never get the courtesy names of Wen Qing, Qin Su, Madam Lan and Madam Jin though, unfortunately.

mllebleue said: I don't have the ability to do it right now but @hunxi-guilai has long and detailed analyses on MDZS and The Untamed, including names and all. If ai remember well, there is a difference btw titles, monikers, and names that are more complex than this convo shows, and the three women named in this convo do not have curtesy names. Their blog has everything
Ah, okay, I was wrong, oops ^^; I looked a bit for a specific post on their blog about this topic in general but they have so much it's kind of hard, maybe Anon here could send an ask their way? (though it seems they might not have been on since 2021?) Sorry, Anon, seems my knowledge on this topic is wrong. Please do go through their blog and look at the posts, It's actually pretty interesting from what I saw. I hope you find your answer ~
I looked a little more and found this post has a little about courtesy names but I don't know if it will answer your question?
Here is also a thread I found on the MDZS wiki, the wiki for courtesy names and even a reddit thread about this subject on r/MoDaoZuShi
I apologize for my misinformation and hope these links will be able to better help you!

MXTX Character DND Classes
So, I know I’m a small art blog or whatever but I have so many opinions on possible dnd classes for characters that I have to put them on the internet. I know there's at least some overlap between the mxtx and dnd fandoms. By no means are these classes the best fit either, these are just the Thoughts I Have Thunk. If you have thoughts about this too feel free to share!
I’m gonna start with the main mxtx characters cause that fandom sits side by side with dnd in my brain.
MDZS
I went through several different ideas for Wei Wuxian. Originally I put him down as an undead warlock because of the ghosts, and the Stygian tiger amulet could be his patron of sorts. The vibes were off though, and warlocks don't get nearly enough magic for what he uses and was like well he did make an entire cultivation path by himself in 3 months which is very wizard behavior. So he is currently sitting in necromancy wizard territory. I did also see someone mention grave cleric, which I don't hate. Lan Wangji has always and forever been a bard to me. College of swords specifically. Literally the first time I saw him I went "omg he's a bard". He's certainly horny enough for the class. There is also something about wangxian therefore being a wizard/bard ship that provides unadulterated chaos that is just so in line with their dynamic.
TGCF
Xie Lian could only work to me as a multiclass. Half because he's all over the place and half because it fits him narratively. I'm thinking battlemaster fighter and undead warlock for him, his patron being Hua Cheng. Xie Lian was like a completely physical fighter for a long time simply because he didn't have the spiritual power to do much magic. I believe he even mentioned he was physically stronger than the other heavenly officials because they relied too much on their magic. Flash forward to him meeting Hua Cheng and making a "pact" for spiritual energy and now he can do some spells just like warlocks in dnd! Speaking of Hua Cheng, he is totally an oath of devotion paladin. I don't know any character that is as utterly devoted to something as he is to Xie Lian (who is his patron). And like, he made a promise to be devoted forever and that's how he got powers, which is textbook paladin. The thing about the two of them too is they get to be each other's patrons which I think is cute and something that could be super interesting in an actual game.
SVSSS
This one was hard. It took me a while to decide on what class to give Shen Qingqiu. Ultimately I decide on sorcerer on vibes alone. He's got some charisma, he's got some innate talent, like I think its in there for him. I did think about warlock because of the system, however if you haven't noticed all of the main characters have been warlocks at some point so I think that's boring. Luo Binghe has blood hunter written all over him. I know its not totally an official class but he can control people with his blood so that's what he is to me. Subclass I'm not sure on because I feel like all of them except order of the lycan would fit to some degree. I'm just not sure on either of them which makes me sad because scum villain is my favorite.
Sorry for the long post, I have simply been haunted. Add headcanons or thoughts if you feel like. Thanks for reading.

Hiii!! First of all I really loved your mdzs's fics! So thanks you for sharing them! And if it's not inappropriate can I ask you your materials for the world building?? Like, I want to write a mdzs's fic and I am obsessed with the word building but where I live wuxian novels aren't popular and Chinese culture is very different from mine. My ask is very messy and sorry if I am annoying/inappropriate
Hello!!
No, it's not inappropriate at all to ask about sources and where to learn stuff! (at least, not on this blog lol).
For some sourcing that's more readily available and that I've already compiled, it might be good to check out The Reading of Sorrow (and other works) which is a notes guide I was working on while writing my post canon NHS mental breakdown fic. It's primarily Tang-Yuan dynasty focused sources, (most of them are about the Yuan dynasty.)
I've been reading and watching wuxia for most of my life now, and I've spent the past five years or so really interested in the Hanfu Revival Movement and learning about historical China, so there's some stuff I'm not super sure where exactly I picked it up. I'm not an expert and I do like to bend stuff for fiction more than I like historical accuracy + human error, etc so there's also necessarily stuff that I've gotten wrong or don't know a lot about!
Feel free to send more specific questions about what you're looking for and I'll try to see what sorts of sources I can scrounge up to rec!

OOC Message
Hi everyone. Sorry I've been absent a lot for some time. Tim isn't gone, but I will put this blog on "mostly on hiatus". I'm not doing well, a lot is going on and has happened (if you want to know details, you will have to ask and I might tell).
I'm still rping though, but mostly I'm at @cuckoo-among-beasts and also some at @goodheartedfool. Why this is, I'm not fully sure. Maybe because MDZS is still a new shiny obsession, either on its own or because it requires more research and brain power (leaving me less likely to go down a darker rabbit hole). But yeah, if you want to rp with me or something, that's where I'm at (Nat also has other verses and Huaisang has a modern one). I'm also on discord for those who wants to keep in contact.
I will still be around now and then and might do some replies, but it will be sporadic. I hope to be back soon enough. As I said, Tim isn't gone, just a bit dormant for now.

Okay...this is my first ask for you (so sorry if it's a little awkward).....I'm just so happy and excited to find an SVSSS lover blog.....I made tumblr acc because I love MXTX works and want to read more metas about them, but most that I found are MDZS and TGCF blogs, of course I also love them, but my all time favorite are SVSSS (and I have not found a blog that love SVSSS the most, until now).....
So can I ask, what makes you love moshang the most from all of MXTX canon couples (I assume your fav will be something like this, moshang > bingqiu > wangxian > hualian)? And what do you love (the ups and down side) about each couple (bingqiu, wangxian, hualian)?
SVSSS is my favourite probably because it's the strangest to explain
And you're correct on the order of my favourite pairings!
So I'll start with Moshang and why I love them the most
1. Moshang: I think they are my favourite because of all the characters they have been together the longest. And what I mean by that I mean they have had a relationship and been involved directly with each other for the longest. They have spent decades tied together. They met when they were (physically) teenagers and get together when they were (presumably) in their late 30s
And yet they still have the pining and miscommunication because of cultural differences that Airplane should have known about!
That's part of what makes them fun. But also there is something beautiful in that Mobei always comes when Shang Qinghua calls and that Shang Qinghua can't actually let harm come to Mobei if he can prevent it. Even when they aren't on the same page the unwavering devotion and care for the other is beautiful
Shang Qinghua wants to be chosen so he makes Mobei run after him for once and let's himself be demanding and honest
And Mobei allows it, even encourages it to a degree for all his apparent grumpiness
I suppose in some ways it feels like the relationship with the most even footing. Because both of them had been pining in their own way for decades before they actually make a move to being together. It feels like they would have the least misunderstandings after getting together
Also as far as I know Airplane is the only one to punch his partner in the face when he just sticks it in and I love that for them. I like think they end up having the best sex eventually though as they do know each other very well
2. Bingqiu: I love Bingqiu because I like pathetic men being stupid and that's essentially their relationship
No seriously though I feel Shen Yuan does have immense internalised homophobia and the story is less him slowly falling in love with Binghe and more him slowly coming to terms that he is allowed to love Binghe and that he already does
He feels immense guilt for having bent the protagonist but he cannot deny either his feelings for Binghe in the end or how his rejection has hurt Binghe. I just think it's really interesting to be inside a main character's head while he wrestles with homophobia even though in the world he's in he's the only one with homophobia
No one else in the world is homophobic. They do not care that Shen Qingqiu is with a man. They are upset he's with a demon
So all the homophobia exists solely on Shen Qingqiu's mind. It's his personal baggage which he has to overcome more than any external barrier to their relationship and that's just really interesting to me
3. Wangxian: it's the first of MXTX's novels I read and I just love the ADHD/Autistic couple dynamic (which we also get with Moshang). I love how great they work together. I love how we are told at the front that they hated each other and then slowly realise that Lan Wangji has been in desperate pining love since the beginning and that Wei Wuxian was probably in love just as long but didn't understand that because he had so much else going on
And I love the slow slow burn as Wei Wuxian finally starts to understand his feelings
It's just a beautiful story
4. Hualian: honestly? They are only 4th because I have not finished their story. I really really like them but having read only the first two printed volumes I don't know them enough to comment a lot.
I do know that of all the Love Interests Hua Cheng is the smoothest and I respect that but I do have a preference for idiot men in my fiction

CW for discussion of dead dove, noncon, other dark shit
TL;DR — i'm sorry i was a little content police asshole. i may post content you find problematic in the future, if i ever post content on this blog again. do what you wanna do with that info!
(i still love my boy LXC & draw/write stuff with him; maybe i'll share those scribbles here one day)
sorry for the non-MDZS reblogs, but this has been weighing on my mind a little bit for a while now. i used to be vocally in the camp of, """"problematic""" works are only okay if the creators make them a certain way (e.g., not fetishizing, romanticizing, etc.)", when, in reality, i was being a huge hypocrite & an asshole, and straight up lying about what kind of media i consume & enjoy & occasionally create.
the truth is, i fucking love """""problematic""""" shit. more 90% of my ao3 bookmarks are dead dove, noncon, dark trash.
the truth is, i couldn't stomach the shame for loving those things, so i enjoyed them in private & bashed them in public.
i'm sorry about that. i hope nobody was hurt by such hypocritical, jackass behavior.
i'd like to share some content that contains the kinds of themes, kinks, aesthetics, etc., that i like in the future. i understand that that sort of content isn't for everyone. of course, they'll be tagged to the best of my ability; still, if you feel that, even then, you don't want to stick around for this new ~ era ~, i understand. thanks for enjoying my art & other mdzs content while you did!

I don't know either what's the santization but there's someone here with a VC blog and they have said that the tv show is a sanitization. They gleefully wish for the show to go off air and in general is very weird about it, down to the casting choices. From Jacob to Sam to Eric to Assad. And the way they talk about some of the actors, it's very weird to me too. I have been arguing with them for a better part of the day and got blocked before I could ask them about what they meant about sanitization. So I spent the rest of the day sitting down and thinking if I am looking at it wrong and there indeed is sanitization here...which is why I was wanting a second opinion.
Thank you for your response.
i dont know who that is + based off ur description im sure they wouldnt wanna know me lol. but im sorry u spent a good bit of ur day fussing w them to no productive end? idk man i dont get them some of them r like ‘my lestan would never do this evil act’, complaining about the (rather tame) sex scenes or race/age changes but now its sanitized? howw. is it oochie wally or one mic.. idk. and theres adaptations of books & old animanga remakes that i dont like but i dont constantly go out of my way to find them and complain about them i barely dont talk about them.. like even when mdzs live action came out & flooded the tags 500x more than even the most obnoxious amc iwtv fan ever could i just looked for novel canon only stuff like at the end of the day no book is being took away just bc of a tv show adaptation😭😭
