Wrong Beach and a Speedo
Part One of Two Hearts by the Ocean
This part is for general audiences - rating will depend on individual parts. Overall will be 18+ MDNI
Javier Gutierrez x Abigail (plus size OFC)
Main Masterlist / Two Hearts by the Ocean Masterlist / Javier Gutierrez Masterlist
Word Count: about 2.3k
Summary: Frustrated by her friends, Abigail is going to see one of the beaches on Mallorca. Her sense of direction fails her and she meets a man in a speedo. Javier needed a break from his current worries. The beach is picturesque and so is the beginning of their story.
Warnings: mildly annoying friends, rich guy horrible cousin problems, meet-cute, that speedo, FLUFF, they're sweet okay?!
Notes: I've actually had this in my WIP folder since October of last year. I really have wanted to write for sweet Javi G and finally the right idea came along. Since it's winter I really want to be on a beach somewhere. Soaking in some sun and finding Javi in a speedo. A lovely summer romance. 🥰 I have a lovely mansion in delulu land.
Tumblr media
Cobblestone streets, rolling waves on beaches, beautiful vistas from atop hills; this was Majorca, Spain. There was so much to see and do on a girls’ trip there. But Abigail’s friend group was more preoccupied with the nightlife and wineries. Wine didn’t taste like sweet grape juice and she wasn’t too keen on being in a club, she didn’t even go clubbing at home. Why do that when there’s so much to explore?! These heifers hadn’t even been to the beach. She did not come all the way to a beautiful island off of Spain to be inside partying all the time, some of the time sure but not all the time.
Abigail was a round girl, larger belly than butt that hung a little, wide thighs, arms that waved after she stopped doing so and a round face. She believed she was cute, she wouldn’t say sexy, but cute and she felt even more so in her red one-piece bathing suit with white polka dots. It also had a short skirt that accentuated what little butt she did have. She had a large yellow sun hat and put on her white cat eye sunglasses following the resort map to the beach. She brought her tote bag which had her phone, wallet, sunscreen, books, beach towel and towel to dry off and a water bottle. She also carried a beach chair that had an umbrella attached to it. Abigail always liked to be well prepared even if it looked and was cumbersome. She trotted down to the beach and set herself up, sitting in her chair that she placed on her beach blanket and stretched her legs out. She was watching and water and sky meet each other on the horizon as waves crashed lightly before her. It was stunning and looked like a postcard.
“This is perfect. I’m so glad I finally made it here.” A serene smile came over her face, she cracked the spine on her erotic thriller that she brought with her, ‘The PI that Fucked around and found out.’
Javier was fed up with Lucas sticking around so long this time, they had argued again about Javi’s scripts and his Nic Cage shrine. Lucas wanted him to spend the money and make like a party boy so he did, what was the problem? He didn’t like guns and very violent things like his cousin, he didn’t need to feed into any machismo by being any sort of tough guy. Thanks to Lucas, Gabriella had really quit this time and left the country, who was gonna help manage the estate now? Lucas and his friends had made one too many passes at her, she shot the man in the balls and now she was in the wind. Did Javi know where she was? No and even if she did, he wouldn’t tell his cousin a damn thing.
The Majorcan party boy needed to relax and the ocean did that for him, despite all the chaos his cousin caused, the ocean and Nic cage movies were constants in his life. Javier donned his white and navy speedo and asked the chef to help him put sunscreen on his back, he slipped him a few hundred for it because it was not in his job description. Javier just had his towel, shades and a longing to be in the water.
He happened to spy something new at his beach though. A blue umbrella chair, and thick caramel legs extending from under it. Javi knew he hadn’t been at the beach but a few minutes so he shouldn’t be hallucinating right now, right? He figured he should just let the person know that this was a private beach and you can’t just come in here, but he looked past the stone wall that surrounded his estate and noted that the fence labeled private property had been removed, when did that happen and why didn’t he not know about it? Is Lucas messing with him? Would he go that far? Even the beach? The aspiring screenwriter expected to see one of his cousin’s goons and not…an attractive pair of legs, likely belonging to a woman he assumed.
Javier walked over to the umbrella repeating, “Hola! Perdón, señorita? Hola! (Hello! Excuse me, Miss! Hello!)” several times with no response. He walked around to the front of the umbrella and roughly waved after being frustrated but it melted away when he saw her. “Oh! Ah…perdón una diosa (a goddess).” Javi simply stared at the woman before him. She had a large hat on and sunglasses but she had a round adorable face to match her soft body and those dense thighs. Her delicate hands set the book down and removed her AirPods. She looked up and removed her sunglasses exposing honey eyes that appeared to be confused.
“Buenas tardes señor (Good afternoon sir). Pasa algo (Is there anything going on?) Estaba sentado leyendo (I was sitting and reading).” She responded; she said the words correctly but seemed to have an issue rolling her tongue. Spanish was not likely her first language which meant she may be a tourist. Javier knew of a resort that had a beach on its property, but why was she here?
“Muy bien (Very good) señorita. Hablas Ingles (Do you speak English)?” Javier asked with his smile still wide though his praise of her may have extended to what he saw before him as well as her proficiency in Spanish. He heard her chuckle and stood from her chair, she dusted her bottom off and returned his smile.
“Sí (Yes). Ah yes I do. I’m sorry, I did practice some basic phrases but I’m not past the colors, stores and family yet. Um,” Abigail explained. She wasn’t exactly sure what to do. He seemed nice, definitely handsome and she was drawn to him. She crossed her arms over her stomach and held her forearms, her very obvious anxious tell. “My name is Abigail. Are you here to enjoy the beach too?” Javier’s smile changed to a grin and nodded.
“Yes señorita Abigail. I regret to tell you that you are on a private beach. My private beach.” He stated, not menacingly but the look on Abigail’s face told him that it was received poorly.
“No, this should be the resort beach. I walked from just over there.” She pointed to where the fence was suspiciously gone. Javier sighed as he followed her finger to that area as well. He pondered and considered asking her to leave, though when he turned back to tell her this, she was bent over rummaging through her tote bag looking for her map. Javier stared at her rear and his eyes went wide. He is first and foremost a gentleman so he looked away…after sneaking a lingering peek.
Abigail finally retrieved the map and pointed to her resort and the path she walked to the beach. Javier was thankful that she didn’t seem to notice and looked at the map with her.
“Señorita, the map is the wrong way. The beach that belongs to the resort is to the right and not the left.” Javier pointed out, taking the map and turning it the opposite direction, he set it in her soft hands and exhaled deeply. He chuckled as she stared at it, he could picture smoke coming out of her ears.
“I…this is worse than that time I got lost finding my own car from the airport…” Abigail sighed, her poor sense of direction had prevailed again. She weakly smiled at Javier and then frowned. He was being very nice about some weird lady on his property. This beautiful man in a speedo. She wanted to poke his belly and see if he would giggle. He looked like he would, his face was so expressive. “I-I’m sorry for trespassing. I didn’t even realize I was. It was just really wonderful to have a calm day at the beach.” Her eyes led back to the water, it was quiet here, not full of bumbling tourists and crying children, but it was not hers to enjoy. Noticing the longing look she had toward the seas, Javier had an idea, rather a suggestion.
“Señorita Abigail, you’re more than welcome to stay on the beach for the time being. I’m glad you were able to find peace here.” Javier started, her face snapped back to his with a wide smile. He continued, “Do you have any food allergies or dishes you’re opposed to eating? While we relax out in the sun, I can ask my chef to make us lunch.” His hand extended and took a hold of hers that wasn’t holding the map, she didn’t shy away from the touch but she wasn’t expecting it either nor was she expecting to be offered a meal by the very person who came to tell her that she was on his property.
“No food allergies. Are you sure? Oh, I don’t think you gave me your name.” She recalled, no, he had not, she knew she wasn’t good with names but she felt she wouldn’t forget his. His thumb pressed into the soft flesh of the back of her hand slightly, feeling it bounce.
“My name is Javier Gutiérrez. Please call me Javi mi diosa.” In his excitement upon meeting her, he left his name out, thinking it not at all important when speaking to the crimson and caramel clad beauty before him.
“Javier…Javi. Okay, I got it.” Abigail muttered to herself, though Javi overheard and was delighted. “Lunch sounds delightful. I’m not hungry now, but I will be in a bit.” She explained, Javier released her hand and sped toward his expansive home yelling,
“I’ll be right back señorita Abigail! Do not spirit away anywhere!” Javier yelled kicking up sand as he ran toward his home. He informed his chef to prepare lunch for two along with a little something for dessert, whatever he had around. It dawned on Javier that his guest may not want to eat in her bathing suit. His golf cart could take her back to the hotel and bring her back for lunch. He informed one of the maids to prepare a room for her and to leave for the day. Maybe she would stay, maybe not, but he would be prepared either way. Javier wondered what movies Abigail may want to watch, everyone has at least one favorite move, what was hers? He grabbed a white button up shirt and threw it on quickly, not bothering to close it up. If she wanted to freshen up, she’d likely want to do so where had her clothes. Javier also reasoned that at least having a shirt would be better than showing up to the resort in just a speedo.
Abigail stood looking over the water after folding her beach chair and towel. The cerulean waves crashed along the shore and she had a serene smile on her face. It truly was beautifully breathtaking. She didn’t hear the jovial man’s steps behind her, a strong gust of wind blew her hat and it started to get away. Javier stretched and grabbed the brim of the hat, he pulled it to his toned chest and held it until the wind calmed. A beaming smile was across his face as he stepped in front of Abigail.
“Perdón (excuse me) Señorita Abigail. Tu sombrero está a salvo. (Your hat is safe).” Javi stretched out his arms and raised them, placing the hat on her head and tipping it up at an angle so her face was fully visible.
“Gracias (Thank you) Javier.” Abigail smiled shyly, placing her hand over Javi’s on her hat. They were warm from the sunlight, he brought a hand to her face to cup it, but let it hover.
“Is it alright if I touch your face Señorita Abigail?” Javier questioned softly, she nodded and dropped her hands, letting them rest at her sides.
“Only if you call me Abigail or Abby rather. Señorita is a bit too formal.” A smile graces her face as his sun-kissed hand cupped her face with his thumb outlining her soft cheek. She couldn’t resist reaching for the hand still at his side and holding it. The moment appeared surreal as they stood, the crashing of the waves behind them, with another soft breeze in the air.
“Señ- Abby, did you want to come to lunch as you are now? Or travel back to your hotel to change. I find myself fine with either option you choose.” The chocolate haired man explained, leaving Abigail to decide. It would be best to freshen up before going to his home which looked to be enormous. A squeeze of his hand and a nod confirmed that she heard him.
“I’ll go and freshen up before our meal. I shouldn’t be long Javier.” Her voice was calm as he led her to his golf cart. She was curious why he was leading her to the golf cart, but he quickly explained that he would drive her to her resort, help her unload her beach belongings. Javier joked that he came prepared with his shirt which made her chuckle as he carried her bag and chair despite her instance that she could carry one of them but he refused to let her as he put them in the golf cart.
Together, they made the short drive to her resort where Javier suggested that Abby should have his number to be able to text him and let him know when she was ready for him to pick her up for lunch. Had he not had such a warm smile and gentle touch, Abigail would have said no. Javier, however, had walked her to her room on the fourth floor of the resort and his hand touched the middle of her back as they walked inside and spoke briefly about what she had seen on the island already and still wanted to see. She ended up watching him as he left her room and made his way down the hallway, waving to her as the elevator doors closed.
“Hasta leugo mi diosa (See you later my goddess).”

You have such an amazing use of linework, how you combine it with color and how you use it ro make wavy and rounded shapes for black to fade in qnd out of is truly inspiring. Ive tried copying the general gist of it but its a hard stylisitc choise to wrap my head around. What do you recomend people who want to ink like you study/do?
my main influence for how i approach that sort of work is Mike Mignola's art (Hellboy etc) so there's a recommendation for you. quick demonstration below the cut
generally what you want to look for is separation of shapes and reducing detail in lineart where it isn't needed, and implying detail using edges of shapes rather than edges of lines. the wavy shapes are basically a fast way to fill area in a way that doesn't rely on me drawing perfect straight or parallel lines or edges, it's a time saving device for me that is kind to the fact that i have a very shaky hand
see:
Tumblr media
borrowing lineart from a WIP here. so there's a lot surface detail on the armour and we want to preserve most of it when this is zoomed back out - this is only a small part of the image. if we just colour it in under the lineart, a lot of this detail will be lost or appear confusing, like just a bunch of fine lines
Tumblr media
so what we wanna do is reduce the AMOUNT of visible lines without reducing the detail. the shadow and highlight go OVER the lineart. whatever base colour there is goes under. i keep track of the textures too; only the metal surfaces (not leather) get this treatment. but you can see that i reduced the amount of lines by drawing out the important details and hiding everything that is cast in shadow (and you can hide a multitude of sins in that shadow block)
if the whole drawing gets this sort of look, it'll also end up overwhelming and confusing, which is where the biiig black blocks come in
Tumblr media
like here i originally detailed in all the feathers and hind legs and shit but the drawing wasn't strong enough and ended up all sort of blurring together so i just blocked those parts in. you don't need a lot of lines to know what's going on, the silhouette carries the rest
Tumblr media
for scenes like this, i don't actually separate shapes that have the same value. if i drew in visual distinction between pantera, the ground, and the church, it would just add unnecessary noise and i think take away from the overall impact (as i believe the paler metal tone on his helmet and breastplate do). that's why i never finished this one, i thought that this was as strong as it was going to get and adding more to it would not help. so this is also something to keep in mind - a 'less is more' approach.

hiiiii hope you're having a good day!!
💥👀💖😈🎢 for the emoji asks, please!!
hi diana my mom who is actually also my child who i am adopting. ily i hope you're also having a grand day!!! thanks for these!!! 💖💖💖
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
AAAAHHH okay i'm putting this first so i can put the rest of the questions and answers under the cut okay. also since you've supported bad day wall so much (thank you for that, endlessly!!!), what i can say about part two is that it will cover summer and then the beginning(? so far?) of seventh year and it will have a happy ending because you and i deserve that and here's a small snippet (but again, pls, grain of salt and all that, because this is a rough draft):
"what happened?" james asks, concerned.
"do i look not okay?" lily asks back, not unpleasantly, just genuinely curious.
"kind of."
"how? like, in what way? because i really thought i was holding up fine."
"you're — sad contemplative."
"i have other kinds of contemplative?"
he sits beside her. "loads," he says. "you have judgey contemplative, confused contemplative, life crisis contemplative, nostalgic contemplative... all sorts."
"hmm, and you know all this because... ?"
"um, so i know when not to cross you," he says, like it's ridiculous that she doesn't know. "any wise man would."
that makes her chuckle.
"so what's up?" he nudges her lightly. "why are you sad contemplative?"
💥 How do you feel about criticism?
oh damn i'm a baby lol. no but — ok, so, i write for a living, among other things, and i do like my bosses/editors (we have the same writing styles and preferences and i like their work and respect them for their work ethic and command of the field and experience etc etc), so criticism/edits are a normal everyday thing by now they don't really faze me anymore. so i would say i'm okay with it generally. but when it comes to fanfic, which is my happy space and where i'm much more protective of the creative liberty it affords me (i mean, i write in lapslock for god's sake, that's like, not just an invitation for critics to take a piss, i understand it also tends to make readers not take me seriously), i am very selective about which critics and criticisms i make room for. like, i will read/listen to everything, i can't not if it's already there, but if we don't write about the same things in the same way to begin with, i will also just carry on. easily and unapologetically. not to say i don't consider critique and don't need it anymore, just that i've long been able to segregate the actually helpful ones from the ones that just. end up being noise. here's a post from inkskinned about this that i resonate with!
💖 What made you start writing?
stories? i don't even remember now. i was an imaginative child, i guess?? i do remember my first ever story, as in like handwritten on a pad lol, it was about this girl who pretended to be her sister because she liked her sister's boyfriend. i was nine??? idk where that came from?? i also was really fascinated with english as a language. i love good sentences. i would come across one from anywhere — a book, a news report, on energy drink packaging, from some executive's speech — and i would send them to my friends, because WAAA LOOK AT THIS SENTENCE AND HOW GOOD IT IS. WHO THINKS OF THIS. and i wanted to try making good sentences as well. so i'm still doing that lol. oh but jily fanfic — um, because of TLAT, i think. there were fics before that, but i think i really fell in love with them through that fic first, and then i fell into a deep pit of other well-written fics, both canon and AU, and found different versions of them and the whole friend group (still anchored to their canon characters/dynamics of course). then i started coming up with my own plotlines and i couldn't find them anywhere, so i started writing my own!
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
sirius's "dead by twenty-one" comment in bad day wall for sure :)
🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?
ah, time lapse. i wrote that feverishly for weeks in the summer of 2016 and then it died down and then it picked back up and until now it's still wild. the outline keeps changing as well.
for oneshots, the storm one was also kinda wild hahahaha
thank you so much ily!!! 💖💖💖

Snippet Sunday
Carrying along on my Steter leaves Beacon Hills fic. It’s motivating for me to get to share bits here, so I’m doing some sort of WIP post once a week when I can. Anyone else working on something they want to share? I’d love to see it! Say I tagged you if you want to :)
Stiles eats sitting cross-legged on the couch, half watching a show about home renovations while telling Peter about other shows he likes, how dumb people are about not being able to see past paint colors while buying a home, and assorted random facts that pop into his head. All around mouthfuls of food, of course. It’s disgusting. Peter wants to study him like a lab rat.
He tunes Stiles out from time to time, not that it seems to bother the boy much. Peter’s surprised he doesn’t mind Stiles’s rapidly gesticulating hands and nearly non-stop chatter as a background to his own thoughts.
He eats his steak and thinks about himself at that age, eager to graduate high school and move out of his family home. He knew, of course, that it would be frowned upon, but he also knew he needed out. In that respect, he and Stiles are very much alike.
He hadn’t needed someone’s help the way Stiles does though. He’d amassed quite a fortune that was all his own by that time. Frankly, Stiles’s predicament, and having to throw himself on the good grace of someone like Peter no less, has made him realize for the first time just how fortunate he’s been in that regard.
He grew up with money. He grew up with a generous allowance, and around people who knew how to handle money, who expected it to be there. He’s always been proud of the way he’s built on what he’s been given, and it wasn’t without hard work, but he supposes the way he was raised did give him certain advantages he hasn’t had to think about before.
Well, Stiles is with him now. The boy won’t have to be at anyone’s mercy for much longer. He knows he could keep Stiles beholden to him, it would be easy enough, but something about the idea chafes. It would be like keeping an eagle in a small cage. Peter knows plenty of people would think him capable of that kind of malicious cruelty, but he’d really rather see that eagle fly, see what it's capable of once it's given its full power. He has a feeling Stiles will be magnificent.
Even if the “eagle” in this scenario is currently licking the curly fry grease off his fingers, and has a shred of lettuce stuck to his chin.
Peter sighs and hands him a napkin.

I have a focusing problem. Writing isn't particularly that stimulating to me (don't get me wrong, I LOVE writing and seeing my ideas come back to life, but at some point it feels like I'm writing words rather than visualising a scene) but having any sort of music or video in the background distracts me. Is this a problem with my brain or just with my writing skill?
Trouble Focusing on Story
Is this a problem with your brain or with your writing skill? Well, that depends...
First, sometimes writing does feel like writing words rather than visualizing a scene. We don't always get carried away with the story while our fingers tap mindlessly away at the keyboard. Writing isn't always fun. In fact, sometimes it's really hard work. Sometimes it's just a matter of pushing through those days we're it's not fun to get to the days that are.
But... if this is a constant problem, it could be more than just the typical ups and downs. It could be an issue with your stories--maybe that you don't really know where they're going, so you lose steam. It could be that you get distracted by newer, shinier ideas. Or it could be that you're distracted by life in general.
I would suggest looking at my post 5 Reasons You Lost Interest in Your WIP, Plus Fixes! to see if one of those solutions works for you. If not, see the links at the bottom of the post for further help. You might also spend some time on my Description master list of posts to see if maybe you just need to make your writing a little more vivid.
Hopefully something here will help!

3. Biggest self-insert OC?
4. What kind of music do your OCs listen to?
5. What are some of your OCs biggest fears?
6. Do you have any OCs without stories? Will you ever create one for them?
7. What are your favourite relationships between your OCs? (romantic or platonic!)
8. Do you have any OC family trees?
9. Favourite OC?
Please and thank you!
3. Biggest self-insert OC?
Sarah started out as a self-insert OC in a Xavier's School RP on the Ctrl+Alt+Del forums, in the eaaaarly 2010s. Since then, she's absolutely developed to be her own character, but she's sort of the person I would like to be now, regarding her chosen family, love of cooking/baking, and being creative. Meanwhile Oz has all of the money I wish I had and more, and Angie is as confident and cool as I want to be.
4. What kind of music do your OCs listen to?
I definitely can't list them all, just because I have so many OCs, so I will focus on my favorites for the rest of the questions, haha. Sarah loves artists like BABYMETAL and Paramore, her older sister Angie has a giant range of likes from Halestorm to Gary Allan, Oz is a big Britney Spears and general pop music/Top 40 fan.
5. What are some of your OCs biggest fears?
Oz hates all bugs, snakes, and lizards - it gets a tiny bit better when Doyle starts showing an interest in herpetology, but not much. Sarah has had to go to therapy to stop being anxious anytime she starts to get hungry, but she still carries snacks with her everywhere. Neither of them are a fan of men being loud and aggressive. Most of Angie's fears involve Sarah getting hurt in any way, shape, or form. (He is not okay when she goes through her one pregnancy - especially when he finds out about pregnancy psychosis.)
6. Do you have any OCs without stories? Will you ever create one for them?
Angie's wife, Rayne, and one of Oz's relationships, Andy, don't get written about enough. I really hope to change it someday.
7. What are your favorite relationships between your OCs? (Romantic or platonic!)
I love Oz and Calum's relationship, and how they are basically childhood sweethearts. They also have a third partner later in their life--a sweet, scholarly astrology nerd named Jakob that I haven't posted anything about on AO3, but have plenty of old WIPs with him. I also love that Oz has so much love in his life - not just from his family and partners, but he has so many friends. He considers Nic, Andy's wife, to be his platonic partner as well as best friend - they are married in a Bridgerton AU to save both of them from a life of misery.
8. Do you have any OC family trees?
Most of my OCs have fleshed out parents and siblings, though there are a few only children. Sarah and Angie are siblings, with Sarah four years younger. Oz has a sister that is two years younger than he is. There is a Gravity Falls AU that I like to think about, but idk if I will ever write, where Angie and Jakob are twins/stand-ins for Stan and Ford, and Sarah's grandkids are stand-ins for Dipper and Mabel.
9. Favorite OC?
Angie. He's such an asshole and has done and gone through so much, but he also made the decision to be better, and worked so hard to do it. He earned the relationships he has with his wife and Sarah, (they lost touch for a few years, Angie was in a bad place and acted like a dick to drive Sarah away 'for her own good') and beat his own mental health and cancer, and has a life he never thought he would have. (He always thought he would be a Very Unimportant Member of the 27 Club.)

wip wednesday
Tagged by @glitchy-npc! Thanks for the tag :)
I'm gonna tag uuuh @thenightdayblogger @euelios @dogueteeth if any of y'all are up for it?
I've honestly been Kinda Slammed with like. life. this week. and last week. it's fine. But it also means I haven't done a ton of writing unfortunately.
Mostly, I've done some work on my Archival Thing - i'm into June of this year now! - and a tiiiny bit of writing, that I'll drop under the cut for being Retri Spoilers. Sidebar, having a general premise and at least two sentences is better than I'M doing on the exchange right now, so kudos for that! Its Fine we've got just under three whole months left.
More innocent ending musing, of the 'some people are working under the assumption that this is going to work out polyamory-wise but nobody's talked yet' variety, with a side of the Arsinoe Guilt Pressure Cooker.
But-- Daniel’s over anyway. Consistently. Sometimes with groceries or files for Ricardo to read so he doesn’t go nuts. The first couple times, you think he’s trying to figure out things to bring you to. What, cheer you up? Puzzle books and a neat pen and coffee that wasn’t made in Ortega’s kitchen. Carries you and your stupid casts from the bedroom to the couch to your wheelchair and back again, easy little smile and steady hands.   He won’t drop you. Stone-solid truth you can’t even touch.  So. Daniel’s over a lot. And Ricardo’s around a lot, and doesn’t seem. Put out? Worried? Annoyed? By Daniel being in his apartment basically all the time.  You think Daniel cried, after they got you safe and ensconced in Ricardo’s spare room. After Chen and Argent had left. He didn’t let you see, stepped outside to the balcony when Ricardo was getting you settled in the bedroom, but he’d been barely-contained-stress-worry, right up there with you. Get through the crisis. Fall apart afterwards. You’re still getting through the crisis. Can’t afford to fall apart yet. Stumbling-- stumbling you can manage. Neither of them is making it any easier. Or-- they’re making it easier, but in a way that makes it harder? You don’t fucking know. You don’t have any sort of plan for the situation you’ve gotten yourself into. Either part of it, really, the mundane-frivolous worry of two people who say they love you - the you they think they know - or the clawing scraping tangle of something sharper, something more urgent, in your throat.

AAAAAAGH HAPPY BIRTHDAY
IM A BIT LATE TO THE PARTY BUT I HAVE COME WITH GIFTS ANYWAY!!! HERE ARE SOME SERENNEDY AND LUIS HEADCANONS FOR YOU GOOD SIR!!!:
- Leon was an Axe Body Spray type of dude before him and Luis became a couple. And I mean the type that over OVER uses the cheap mens body spray like its a shower in a can. Luis got him on the good stuff and taught him how to properly use fragrance when they got together, I HC a good cologne was one of Luis' first gifts to Leon. And Leon took small offense initially but inevitably ended up extremely grateful for it. Still uses a heavy hand with the fragrance tho out of habit.
- I also headcanon that Luis taught Leon how to dance, almost as sort of a trust exercise. We know Leon has trust issues and Luis is 100% the type who addresses those things with compassion and some unconventionality. Dancing with a partner requires a lot of trust in your partner and allowing oneself to kind of let loose.
- Leon has control of the aux cord like 80% of the time (oh no) and ended up getting Luis into late 90's early 2000's grunge.
- Luis definitely has a love for music in general. And he can definitely play guitar.
- I also HC that he LOVES singing. But isnt conventionally that good at it. He's never had any sort of like, professional practice. Pre-T he sung a lot but with T related voice changes he got out of practice and sort of fell out of it with the stresses of his life. Post Valdelobos, he picked it back up, and he really only did it for fun and to tease Leon. Leon is the type who gets second-hand embarassment easily and especially when hearing people sing badly around him. So, naturally, Luis sings a lot while doing tasks. Sings insults at him. Playfully serenades him and Leon pretends to be annoyed with it but actually just really likes hearing him sing and knows Luis will do it more if he pretends to be bothered.
-But, the longer he does this he actually does start to improve since he's actually getting practice. And I HC Luis' voice as being kind of raspy, the type of voice that cuts out on a lot of notes or words from lack of practice. And its always out of tune when he's messing around. But on the occasion he is really trying, his voice is soft while maintaining that sort raspiness and carries emotion really well. He's an excellent lullaby singer.
-Luis knows how to sew and tailor from maintaining his clothes, self taught purely for the sake of keeping the drip.
-THIS IS SO RANDOM BUT I HC HE ALSO USES SHOULDER PADDING?? and like if the clothes he gets dont come with it hES ADDING IT. IDK THAT JUST SEEMS VERY HIM.
THATS ALL THE HEADCANONS I HAVE RIGHT NOW BUT WAIT WAIT, HERE ARE SOME SERENNEDY DOODLES AND WIPS THAT NEVER SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY FOR YOUR VIEWING:

Tompercy Character Reference
Having finished another tompercy WIP with no plans for another one in the works, here is another reference post for the tumblr girlies. These are the characterization bios that I made a while ago in order to get a grasp of their personalities, motives, and have something to reference for their physical appearance rather than always CTRL F-ing A Study of Resonance. This post will be linked in my pinned; I hope it gives interesting insight as to how I see these characters :)
Percival “Percy” Ignatius Weasley-Prewett
Born: August 22, 1976
Appearance: wavy red hair, brown eyes (to match Molly), tortoiseshell glasses. Has freckles, eyebags, and acne, but is practiced at glamoring his face. Otherwise, his features are fairly unremarkable. Blushes easily. Lanky, average height, not particularly athletic. Dresses to come across as respectable, high-class, and sophisticated – wears a variety of colors in order to conform to seasonal fashions. When not a wizard, he is partial to knit sweaters/sweater vests, slacks, dress shirts, and peacoats. Casually, you may find him in his usual slacks and a crew-neck university sweatshirt of some sort.
Personality: earnest, determined, and prideful. Interested in proving himself and earning the respect of his family and peers, but not through hiding who he is (slight superiority complex + rampant self-esteem issues). Wishes he was brought up in a respectable pureblood family. Intensely autistic; doesn’t understand most casual social cues and prefers strict formal etiquette rules, wishes to stick to his routine and dislikes sudden change, fascinated and enamored by his academic fields of choice, prefers interacting with competent adults rather than peers, and is shockingly lonely despite generally preferring solitude.
Has a continued guilty-complex about most things, including pursuing his personal ambitions rather than giving into his parents’ wishes, not being a perfect brother to his siblings, and his continued association with Tom (whatever form that might take). Feels everything very strongly, but especially shame. Ultimately a product of his childhood: his perception of his parents’ pride forcing their entire family to live in poverty and discouraging him and his siblings from seeking out opportunities, being the only person with his flavor of autism in his household and therefore never being understood or really respected by the people around him, and having insane middle child syndrome… affected him!
Generally takes after his mother in pride, stubbornness, self-righteousness, and the way he likes to run his household. Jealous and admiring of Tom in equal measure.
Tom Marvolo Riddle
Born: December 31, 1926
Appearance: coiffed dark brown hair, dark gray eyes with silver flecks (though they are dark blue in ASOR), aristocratic features; high cheekbones, long eyelashes, straight nose, sharp jaw. His skin is smooth and fair. He’s tall and well-proportioned; overall he is exceedingly conventionally handsome and aesthetically pleasing. He carries himself very fluidly, like water, and has generally practiced all his movements to perfection, as if brought up in a very aristocratic pureblood house. He dresses well and classically, mostly in grays, greens, white/cream, and black. When not a wizard, he is partial to leather oxfords, blazers/waistcoats/suits, cashmere sweaters, and also slacks. Casually, you may find him in jeans and a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up.
Personality: exceedingly prideful, intelligent, cunning, and ambitious; a textbook Slytherin in every universe. Believes in the value of a meritocracy – disparages nepotism and similar methods of gaining power, but values intelligence and competence in others… so long as they agree that he is still better than them and admire him accordingly. Such is his pride. Bookish and hungry for knowledge, and dislikes (but sucks up to) authority unless he determines that the figure is Worthy of His Respect. Perfectly willing to play a role in order to get what he wants – power – even if that means playing nice with purebloods he doesn’t give a shit about. Generally reaches a point, eventually, where he decides that he is now the most powerful wizard in the world and is therefore the ultimate authority, and may as well be God (usually around age 17). After this he will never respect anyone else as an authority ever again, unless they repeatedly beat him in duels (both physical and intellectual).
Intensely autistic also; hates when things don’t make logical sense, dislikes the unexpected, fairly asocial, and has great difficulty relating to and empathizing with (and therefore having sympathy or compassion for) other people – most of whom he sees as unintelligent, weak, too ruled by emotions, and easy to manipulate. Ultimately a product of his childhood, where he was demonized by every adult figure in his life, shunned by all his peers, surrounded by death and suffering in his various forms (hunger, disease, cold, and war), and yet was smarter and more talented than everyone around him and also had literal magic. Even upon going to Hogwarts, he was called slurs and shunned purely for his background, and never seen for his true talent and skill until he started hurting people… which positively enforced for him that hurting people was effective for getting what he wants (power and respect).
Thinks he likes Percy best when he is being subservient; actually prefers when Percy is being intelligent, ambitious, competent, and witty – which are the things that he likes Percy for and was fascinated by in the first place. Will never really view Percy as an equal, but likes him well enough, and finds him intelligent and interesting.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you @acorrespondence, my lovely mutual and writting buddy, for tagging me <3
How many works do you have on ao3?
6, under beezleebub (more under a secret abandoned account)
What's your total ao3 word count?
131,144 for my current account
What fandoms do you write for?
justified, primarily. with one deadwood fic, and a mcu wip in the works.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
"stay with me" is my most kudoed fic <3
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i try to! i never know what to say cus i'm always so blown away that anyone's reading my shit at all.
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i try not to end on a sour note, but i feel like everything i write carries a general blanket of angst through it's narrative
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
probably "stay with me" just cus i was feeling nice that day
Do you get hate on fics?
not these days. i feel like ao3 users have a generally laid back approach to fanfic these days. don't like? exit the tab, easy peasy.
Do you write smut?
no? i have included not overly explicit sex scenes in fics bcus they can be a great tool for emotionally charged moments, good character moments, etc. but nothing crazy.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
never ever. they're not really my thing.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
no lol
Have you ever had a fic translated?
nah
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no, i'm a control freak
What's your all-time favorite ship?
charles xavier/erik lehnsherr. easy. full stop. don't even have to think about it. there's something about them. something about the 60s/70s. something about two sides of the same coin. something about wanting the same thing but having morally conflicting approaches. i think about magneto every single day of my life since i was 11 years old. next question.
What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
"keep it near" had such a choke hold on me. it was born of an offhanded discussion in the justified discord so long ago and a love of southern gothics and detective stories. i still love it sm but idk if i'll ever have the steam to revisit it. maybe when i rewatched true detective s1 it'll just pour outta me tho, who knows.
What are your writing strengths?
dialogue. i think i'm pretty good at back and forths between two characters that are saying something other than what they mean. i enjoy writing dialogue that is more revealing in what isn't being said. p.g. wodehouse also taught me a lot about tone in dialogue and witty back and forths that i really enjoy and think i have a pretty good grasp on writing those sorts of exchanges.
i also like to think i'm pretty good at carrying a tone through a story. giving something a general vibe. usually a haunted angsty vibe but still, it's an energy.
What are your writing weaknesses?
probably so many things. i don't like most of my fics that are up currently (with the exception of "keep it near" and probably "stay with me"), but we're all our worst critics. I feel that i struggle with writing action, motion, etc. i never want a scene that lacks dialogue to come across as "and then," "and then," etc, you know what i mean?
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
iffy. i feel like it can come across as jarring to a reader if they have no idea what they're even looking at. i've included snippets of russian in a wip, which i have been studying for quite a while, but i still fear it might come across as clunky.
First fandom you wrote for?
uhhh... probably batman? or marvel? unless we're counting the self insert assassin's creed fanfic i wrote in 6th grade before i knew what fanfic was.
Favorite fic you've written?
oh probably "keep it near" but by far my unpublished fic i'm working on currently.
don't know who's been tagged yet, but @praycambrian @raylangivins @norgbelulah @eff41 and anyone else who hasn't been tagged yet <3

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
How many works do you have on ao3?
32. (Three are orphaned, all old fic; one spn fic is under anon)
What's your total ao3 word count?
627,118 words (I assume the anon fic is included in ao3 stats, and I added the orphans manually.) That's more than I expected, but it does stretch back to fic I started writing in 2011!
What fandoms do you write for?
Under my current pseud, Supernatural and The Outsiders. I have WIPs underway for both! I also have a languishing WIP for M*A*S*H* :( In the past I have written for the MCU, The Walking Dead, Hetalia, Teen Wolf, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Ephemeron (MCU, Starker), 1,393 kudos; 2. With A Bit Of Spit And Luck (SPN, Wincest), 401 kudos; 3. Is It Tomorrow (Or Just the End of Time) (SPN, Wincest), 304 kudos; 4. Closing Night (SPN, Wincest), 222 kudos; 5. Baton Rouge (SPN, Wincest), 205 kudos It's no surprise to me that my one MCU fic and the only multi-chapter fic on this list, though forever unfinished, has far and away the most kudos, and that all top 5 fics are rated E. If we knock Ephemeron off the top spot and just look at fics under my current pseud, then 5th place would go to Some Starless Night (Love May Come an' Tap You on the Shoulder) (SPN, Wincest), 184 kudos (and rated M!)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I haven't always in the past, though I always liked engaging with readers, but ever since I returned to fic in 2020 when I started writing for spn I've made sure to on principal. Not always quickly, but eventually. I'm really so grateful to the small fraction of readers who leave comments so I want to express my gratitude that they took the time! I also love giving thoughtful responses to thoughtful comments. Sometimes readers have unique insights into my work!
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A lot of my fics have fairly bleak or bittersweet/mixed state endings (my favorite type!); of my current pseud fics, I'd say the bleakest is either Plano: Some Town Halfway In Between (SPN, John/Dean) or Road Risk (SPN, Wincest). If we're looking at all-time fics, the angst gets--uh, angstier: Ludovicus Caecus (APH, Germancest), based on Oedipus Rex, ends with Ludwig killing Gilbert, gouging out his own eyes, and carrying his brother's severed head around in a bag; and When the Dead Do Not Rest (APH, Germancest) ends with Ludwig keeping Gilbert's severed head in a chest. Although in that case he's sort of happy with the situation so maybe it doesn't count...
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Baton Rouge (SPN, Wincest) and Like They Talk About In Books (The Outsiders, Ponypop) are pretty equally happy, with both ending on a hopeful note for the new relationship and the characters finding a sense of belonging in each other's arms <3
Do you get hate on fics?
Not outright! The worst I've gotten have been a couple rude, entitled comments along the lines of "why don't you write what I want you to write." I soundly told them off.
Do you write smut?
Yes :) I'm very thankful to various spn fandom smut events (Salt Burn Porn, Bro-Bang, and more) for helping me get my freak back on.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not generally. I like to stay close to canon, for the most part. The only one I ever tried was my Teen Wolf/The Internship crossover Colors That Are Real, which used the fact that both starred Dylan O'Brien as the flimsy excuse for a twincest ship, lol
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Maybe more than one, I can't remember. I've definitely gotten several requests to translate, but idk how many of those people went through with it. The one I know of for sure is Ephemeron, which was translated at least partially into Chinese, and fully into Russian. I was actually really touched by what a robust following it had in Russian fandom. I used to go on the site and use google translate to read people's comments :)
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
gotta go with the one, the only, the ultimate, Wincest.
What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
That M*A*S*H* fic I mentioned. It's post-canon Beejhawk. I've considered posting the two chapters I have; they sort of work on their own.
What are your writing strengths?
Rhythm and tempo! Creating an atmosphere. Dialogue. Pacing. Voice.
What are your writing weaknesses?
For spn, I really rely on good betas to check my characterization. Canon is so sprawling and the characters change so much and are so essentially complex and contradictory; it really helps to have a trusted second set of eyes to say 'hmm I don't think Sam would do that in that way at this point in canon' or 'this sounds a little like early seasons Dean more than late seasons.' They also point out where language can sound more specific to the character, which doesn't always come easy with spn's lingo and references. But honestly my biggest weakness is consistency of output/motivation :(
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
To be avoided at all costs. And if it must be done, you better know what you're doing or at least do your damn homework and try to get a native speaker to check it over.
First fandom you wrote for?
Hetalia (APH) 😅
Favorite fic you've written?
Damn that's so hard haha. I think I'd have to go with Baton Rouge, but Plano: Some Town Halfway In Between is a close second. I'm also happy to report that my current WIPs, for spn and The Outsiders, may well become my new faves. I'm very excited about both projects!
Tagged by @buddyaldridges--Thank you for the tag! This was a fun restrospective! Tagging @nigeltde-fic, @flownwrong, @zmediaoutlet, @balefully, @nevergettingoverwincest and anyone who wants to do it!

Note
You posted a small taste of butch obi wan. Wanna post a big post about butch obi wan? :))
yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally have the time 2 make this post long awaited by all (u n me)
ill do some basics here I think! ask away if u wanna know anything specific :]
butch obi-wan very early realised she didn't want to be a girl, but took a few years to realise she didn't have to either
(keep reading and consensually experience my ramble!)
when Anakin meets her @ nine years old, our butch looks pretty similar to how obi-wan (boy) looked at that age but she has yknow tits etc etc (THOUGH she does bind her chest like uhh everyone else bc that's how I headcanon star wars bras TM it's a long story) so idk she looks boyish, Anakin thinks she's a boy, and qui-gon explains she's not!
going into her twenties and early thirties, obi-wan is no longer boyishly gangly she has muscles !!! she's buff and strong !!!!!! "the strongest master in the world ever!!!!!!!" - Anakin, like 11 years old
I'm a little torn on whether she keeps her hair short or not.... I think it used 2 b long and when it was, it was Always braided either tight in a crown braid or sth similar (she teaches Anakin to braid her own hair at some point, and Anakin took and still takes to the crown braids) anyways when it was long it was an honour to see it loose but now it's a mullet, or in the words of an Older Master at the temple (Jocasta nu) "Business in the front, party at the back"
Anyways in my silly lil universe butch obi-wan still comes from stewjon I think but I also think stewjon is having sort of a friend of Dorothy's situation going on so idk! maybe she is maybe she's not and it's an in-universe metaphor maybe it's both!
lastly have a lil snippet from my wip ab her relationship w the clones! (sorry ab the formatting..... tumblr is tumblrin.)
"The war has slithered her slimy hands through Obi-Wan’s hair and left grey stripes in her wake, but she carries them with poise, as handsome as ever. She goes everywhere with poise it seems, carrying her own little pocket of peace into war zones. Everyone who needs it is welcomed into it for a little respite. On the rare occasion she’s lounging in one of the rec rooms, it doesn’t take long before there’s a little gaggle of troopers around her.  There might be a dozen other, more comfortable chairs, but people seem to just gravitate to the ones closest to Obi-Wan’s chair. It is not that she is very entertaining company at all times. Sometimes the general just sits and reads an archival document and sometimes she is sipping her spicy tea (nobody knows where it is from nor why it’s about the only spicy thing she will eat or drink, but General Skywalker is often seen drinking the same tea, although in her case it’s the fact it is tea and not that it’s spicy that is puzzling) and sometimes, if you’re lucky, she will join a game of Sabaac and sweep the table. "
ALSO she's got a soundtrack !!!!!

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged in this by the incredible @pellaaearien . Thank you so much, dear! I really did start working on it when you tagged me and have picked away at it ever since. It’s quite long!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
49
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
122,560. I write short things.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
In chronological order I have written:
BBC Sherlock- Mystrade only
James Bond
Doctor Who
Star Wars
Person of Interest
Arcane
Cats the Musical
Sandman
In theory I’m open to writing in any of those again and any others as the inspiration strikes.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
5 - Worship (Sandman, Dreamling), also received the comment that inspired my first tumblr post to breach containment.
4 - Who He Is (Mystrade), my first fic on ao3 besides the ones I moved to the Other Account. I’m a bit surprised by this honestly. It’s got age on its side but my writing has improved a lot since then. It reads as a bit clunky to me now.
3 - Loverboy (Sandman, Dreamling + Matthew the Emotional Support Raven), first time I brought my 2 Sandman series together and my first multi chap Sandman fic.
2 - The Century Gentleman (Sandman, Dreamling), I got this written and posted pretty soon after the show aired when there was a massive demand for Dreamling content and before there was a tidal wave of content to meet the demand. I have mixed feelings about it now.
1 - Sort It (James Bond & Sherlock crossover, 00Q + Mystrade), fills the niche of “Q is a Holmes brother” + fluffy Mystrade. I do still really love this story.
5. Do you respond to comments?
My rule is that I do. And I’ve generally been very diligent about it. But I burnt out a little while writing Grave and I currently have an embarrassing number of unread comments in my ao3 inbox that I keep telling myself that I need to respond to…
So if folks have commented on my stuff in the last month or so, I’m very sorry I haven’t responded.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Sequenced Proposals. No contest. Look, the character is terminally ill in canon and it’s a lawyer AU so it wasn’t going to end with him becoming a cyborg. I cried a lot while writing it. Apparently a lot of people cried while reading it. Technically he’s still alive when the story ends.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
With the one notable exception discussed above I pretty much exclusively write warm, fluffy, occasionally funny stuff. They pretty much all end happily. I am a quokka of fan fiction.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven’t! Someone called me a bitch in a Sequenced Proposals comment but even though we had never interacted before, they meant it positively.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not on this account. 😏
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I’ve written 2: Sort It, as mentioned above, and Dreaming of Leverage, which is a Sandman & Leverage crossover. I’d say the latter is crazier.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nooooo. And I can’t see ever doing it. Writing is very much a solo activity for me.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I can’t pick a favorite. I adore every ship I’ve written.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I will probably not finish Law School Days. I know how the story ends and that’s good enough for me and no one was clamoring for it. I still like to think I’ll finish Lonely Two-Legged Creatures some day.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’m good at dialogue, especially dialogue in which characters talk about their feeeeeelings. I guess I’m also good at emotional intelligence in stories. And creating the warm & fuzzies.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot and description. I almost exclusively write very short things because I am incapable of plot that would carry a longer story. Also, if I’m being honest, one of the things I like about writing fan fiction is that I don’t have to describe what anyone looks like or sounds like! Y’all know that already. But I do get the flop sweats if I have to describe someone wearing clothing that is not a t-shirt and jeans.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I wish I could! More than 15 years ago I was basically conversational in Spanish, but now I’m functionally monolingual. I do appreciate when people who do this provide translations.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
As a kid, before I knew what fan fiction was, I wrote at least 100 pages of what was essentially OCs in Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar. The first fandom I intentionally wrote and posted fic for was Mystrade.
20. Favourite fic you've written?
Can’t do this, sorry. There are some of my stories that no longer resonate with me the way they did when I wrote them, but they’re in the minority and of the rest it’s impossible to pick a favorite.
Phew! That was a lot. Whenever I tag people in these I always say no pressure but really and seriously this time there’s no pressure and you don’t need to tell me why you’re not doing it. Just ignore. ALSO, if you’ve already done it and I missed it, apologies! With that said @once-in-a-blue-moon-rising @lavenderandvanilla @ml-nolan @mashumaru @ibrithir-was-here @karalynlovescake @stormofsharpthings @argylepiratewd

2.268 million…. Words
👀
Staring at you in amazement. How do you keep the drive going when writing drabbles, and multichapters? Do you have an outlining process, storyboard, character web?
I’m seeking advice, because these fests wips that I have (ladies of hp, Romionetrope, Jily) are just so hectic. I have the beginning and end of set and ready to go. I have the dialogue/plot however I don’t know how to keep organized. When I edit my work I go back to the beginning and change some parts same goes to adding in the middle.
Do you have any tips for a fellow fanfic writer? Anything will help 😅
Ok, so I do have to preface that a lot of my fanfic writing has been a form of productive procrastination. I don't necessarily recommend stress-writing tons and tons of fanfic and putting off your actual work. However, I will say what I do for writing as much fanfic as I do:
Keeping the drive going: part of it is that I write a lot of longfics out in advance. Not all of them - certainly not all of them - but most of them, I start writing and try to get to a good percentage of the words before I start posting. With Supernova, I promised 100k words pre-written before I even began posting. So writing in advance is a huge benefit. It's also one of the ways to really write for yourself, be happy with only you seeing it (and a beta, if you're lucky!) and then getting feedback on it. A lot of the time, I keep the drive going by having multiple projects at once. If I get stuck with one, I go to the next one, and so on.
Planning: I start with an idea for a story and then think about what the 'theme' of it is (besides the obvious torturing of my characters). What is the story I want to tell? Fundamentally, most stories come down to one or two things: new person moves into town (think Pride and Prejudice or Brooklyn 99, with the arrival of Captain Holt), person goes on an adventure (think Harry Potter, or The Good Place, with Eleanor and the gang going on an afterlife adventure), or both (Lord of the Rings or Stranger Things, new kid is Eleven plus the adventure of the Upside Down). There are variations on this theme, but most stories come down to one of those things. Start by figuring out which one you're doing, or how you're doing a variation of them, and then figure out what the story is, what you're trying to tell, what you're trying to say about your characters in general.
Some examples from my own writing:
The Nymph of House Black (time traveling Tonks): Tonks goes on an adventure to the past; overarching ideas: facing the reality of what time travel would be and what-if thinking. Learning that you shouldn't carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.
Cariad (postwar Remadora survives AU): Remus and Tonks go on an adventure, of being a couple in 'the real world' and facing stuff they haven't dealt with. Overarching idea: what does it mean to love when there's only normal life? turns out that love in the mundane is harder than you think, but it can be found.
Supernova (Tedromeda/Remadora AU): new guy in town is actually Ted, returning to Andromeda's life. Overarching idea: how do we find joy when it seems impossible to find? what are the lengths we're willing to go to for those we love?
Organizational ideas: this is probably my weakest area, but I'll give it a go. When you plan a story, use the basic five-act structure. 1) set the scene, where are we? 2) rising action - what's driving the story? 3) climax - what's the crisis point? 4) falling action - how are things getting resolved after the crisis? 5) resolution - how does it end?
The advantage of the five act structure is that it's very clear, but it doesn't translate to all stories and plots. For example, Supernova is currently in a very very long "rising action' stage. We are hurtling towards crisis and there will be an equally long falling action phase. But there will also be subplots that are sort of 'mini' five act plays within the larger narrative.
For longer stories, I prefer the snowflake method of plotting. Regardless, planning is your best bet for organization. Break it down into smaller sections and complete it section by section (not necessarily in order) and then weave it all together.
Other times it's better to just write, write, write, and don't stop until you can't keep writing anymore. I can't really say that there's a fully right way to plan or organize, it's whatever works best for you.
I hope some of this helps!

WIPs from September 10th, 2023
-has two completely separate series WIPs- -makes cameo/crossover characters between them rather than working on the main stories again- in other words I'm back on my bullshit lol
I've felt very burnt out and unmotivated lately so I guess I'm trying to shake myself enough to make more art?? I've been chipping away at designs for both Moth to the Flame and Captain Artemis so I've got bugs on the brain again I've had the idea of giving Scutum a parallel character/reference in MttF for a while considering he's already a beetle in Starglass Zodiac (I honestly just love referencing other things in the background aha) and since Scorpio is also based on a bug (arachnid yes i know) I really liked the idea of giving him a nod too since they're already a duo I'd imagine that they'd have a different dynamic/personalities here, and since they're based on other characters of mine already, they'll probably just be cameos in Moth to the Flame rather than full characters to avoid repeating myself with their stories, but I like them a lot anyway :]
I may explore the idea of sapient scorpions existing in MttF's society though, since spiders and other predatory bugs are considered non-sapient animals that hunt the characters in this universe. All of the sapient bugs have a very militaristic society that highly favours those who do well in combat for the sake of survival, so I imagine that Scorpius quickly gained his status as commander due to his natural attributes, though many question whether he's actually on their side because of that. With his claws and stinger, he's essentially a "living weapon" as it is, and only carries other weapons to further augment this, whereas other bugs need to carry some kind of weapon in order to survive at all, like Kiida with her bow and arrows. I gave him a bandaged eye to sort of mimic SGZ Scorpio's side-swept hair, but it ended up referencing Ophiuchus more (which is hilarious if you know anything about Starglass Zodiac lol) Despite being generally freaked out by bugs in real life, they provide me with endless creativity that I don't think will ever wane. There's just such a variety not only in species but in how one can interpret them into characters. Though posing that many limbs is always a challenge, it's still very fun! I'm proud of Scorpius's double salute aha This isn't much but it's the most art I've done in weeks so hooray??? celebrate the little victories folks

if you haven’t done them yet: 39, 69, and 73 for the get to know your fic writer!
39. Share a snippet from a WIP
Oh fuck LMFAO okay. Okay. Here's something from the sequel to Offensive Maneuver which I AM WORKING ON I PROMISE in spite of the fact that all I do is post L/Light/Mikami threesome fics in the chat at 2PM on a Wednesday.
“Fucking ow, you fucking maniac, let go —” “Get off me and I will,” L orders. Light makes a rattling noise. She snatches L’s thin wrist away from herself with both hands, like she wants to break it, and shoves off of her much more roughly than necessary. She gets back to her feet, glowering down at L like an insect she’d like to stomp into dust. After a moment, she sets her jaw and offers L her hand, which L accepts. Light pulls her none too gently to her feet, looking her over with a furrowed brow and cursorily dusting off the shoulders of her white shirt. “Sorry,” she says shortly. “I’m sorry.” She's funny when she's like this — a punished child made to offer an apology on pain of spending recess in the corner. But there's no one making her, no consequence but her own distaste for her actions. Light struggles, L thinks, when she is not given consequences. She's looking at L expectantly, now, low and ashamed under her lashes, and the potential amusement of refusing to grant Light the forgiveness to which she clearly feels entitled isn't quite heavy enough to outweigh the fact that L will, unfortunately, feel like she's kicking a puppy. “It’s okay.” “I wish you wouldn't say those things to me.” “I only tell lies when strategically necessary,” L lies. “I won't do it simply because Light asks me to.”
69. What work of yours, if any, are you the most embarrassed about existing?
HMMMM this is a good one. I think I have some early sort of cringey stuff from previous fandoms dating back to when I was like 16 that is a little embarrassing but honestly nothing that makes me wildly humiliated to think about. As for stuff I'm currently working on it is kind of embarrassing that I'm on wip spinoff #3 of an AU fic that I haven't even published the first installment of but also I'm the writer and I get to pick the stupid shit that gets written.
73. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?
This is a good one! Within the DN fandom specifically I think the fact that my stuff is generally about lesbians. In terms of actual textual characteristics, I genuinely don't know. I've read lots of great DN stuff since entering the fandom a crisp 2 months ago and I do feel like my work is kind of just another crayon in the box, but I hope the color is cool, to carry that metaphor as far as it'll go.
