No spoilers but I never thought anything could top the animation, color palettes, and the overall visuals of Into the Spiderverse but Across the Spiderverse absolutely did without a doubt in my mind. Just gorgeous animation and compositions all around and I can’t wait until it comes on dvd so I can pause and admire every single frame. Everyone who worked on character designs, backgrounds and lighting etc should be so so proud of the work they’ve done.

I'll forever be upset about how Elemental (2023 Pixar movie) flopped so hard, and it's not even its fault.
Let's be real, going against Across the Spiderverse would be a deathblow for any animated movie, but the marketing team REALLY didn't help matters. Not only did the trailers barely show up (to the point my friends DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT EXISTED), the trailers also did such a poor job representing its actual story.
A lot of people were turned off by the "unoriginal premise" as well as the "forbidden romance", and I can't even blame them but no!!! The story is so much more than just "ooo they can't fall in love because they're (gasp) FIRE AND WATER?!?!?!?" and "what if (insert concept) has emotions but elements this time"!!!!!
At the heart of it all is a personal immigrant story. A story about two fire people moving to another place in order to start a new and hopefully better life (aka literally immigrants). A story about their daughter who feels in debt to them for making the sacrificd to leave their home. A story about her feeling like she'll have to sacrifice her whole life and her dreams in order to repay them and make them happy.
Not to mention how Asian-coded it is!!! The director, Peter Sohn, is clearly writing from his perspective as a Korean-American immigrant, and as an Asian immigrant, I resonated so unbelievably hard with Ember's story. It really felt like the movie held up a mirror in front of me. I've never felt this seen in a movie before this one.
And it feels so good!!! I'm so sad that a lot of people will be missing it out because the marketing team did such a terrible job at their literal jobs. If more people gave it a chance, they'll likely find a story that truly made them feel heard.
Also the romance is really cute. Like I don't typically seek out romance stories, but damn that was good food, that was good fluff. I think it's also a great allegory for interracial couples, but I'm not in an interracial relationship, so I won't overstep too much!
Long story short, if you're unsure on whether you really want to see this movie or not, hear it from me who saw it twice:
Go Watch Elemental!!! You will not regret it!!!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the self-proclaimed Spiderman of Tokyo, you were no stranger to danger and chaos. You had dedicated your life to protecting the city from super villains and creatures, using your enhanced abilities and quick wit to save innocent lives. But there was one person who always seemed to be your biggest obstacle - Nishimura Riki, your so-called partner. Someone you had viewed as your “Gwen Stacy” You and Riki were two sides of the same coin, constantly at odds with each other. Whenever you were near each other, the air was thick with tension. You fought like cats and dogs, always trying to one-up each other.
But one day, Your arch-nemesis, the one known as the 'Mastermind', unleashes a wave of monsters on Tokyo. As always, you and Riki team up to take them down. You swing through the city, taking out the creatures with your spider webs, while Riki uses his strength to defeat the larger ones. As you both stand victorious on a rooftop, Riki turns to you with a look of admiration in his eyes.
'You know, you're not so bad for a spider,' he chuckles. Rolling your eyes, you reply, 'And I know you love hanging out. Dare you to say you hate it now, huh’ Perhaps that's why you never suspected a thing. Every time a new monster or villain appeared in Tokyo unleashed by ‘Mastermind’, you and Riki were there to save the day, fighting side by side. You never saw the darkness behind his charming smile, the madness behind his piercing eyes. But that all changed when he finally confessed his love for you.
You start to notice that the villains and creatures always attack on days when Riki is the only one available to help you. But you brush it off, thinking it's just a coincidence. After all, Riki has always been there to help you when you needed him. That day, when you are both taking down a group of monsters, Riki suddenly stops and turns to you with a tender look in his eyes. 'Listen, I need to tell you something,' he says, his voice filled with nervousness.
You were taken aback, to say the least. You had always seen Riki as a nuisance, someone who constantly got in your way and made your job harder. The thought of him being in love with you was almost laughable. But as he poured out his heart, you saw a different side of him. He was vulnerable and honest, his usually confident demeanor crumbling before you. And for a moment, you couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for him. But then, he revealed the truth. That he was the mastermind behind every creature and villain that you had fought. That he had created them all just to spend time with you, to see you in action and maybe even earn your affection. Your sympathy quickly turned to anger and betrayal. How could he do this to you? To the innocent people of Tokyo? You were the protector of the city, and he had used you for his twisted desires. Without a second thought, you attacked him. Your once playful banter turned into a deadly fight, each of you using your powers to their full potential. The streets of Tokyo became your battlefield, the innocent bystanders fleeing in terror. But in your anger and confusion, you didn't see the madness in Riki’s eyes. You didn't realize that he was no longer the charming, sarcastic partner you knew. He was a psychopath, driven by his obsession for you, who had no ounce of self love, he had never loved himself, all the while trying to love you. In the heat of the battle, you had almost killed him. But as he lay on the ground, bloodied and broken, he did the one thing you never expected. He jumped off the building, grabbing onto you in the process. Your mind was racing as you fell through the air, your once enemy now holding onto you for dear life. And in that moment, you heard him whisper “My spider man, you have saved me”As the ground rushed closer and closer, you realized that the man you thought you knew was a dangerous stranger. And as you crashed onto the pavement below, you both lost your lives. The people of Tokyo mourned the loss of their beloved Spiderman and her Gwen Stacy like partner. They had no idea of the truth behind your deaths, of the twisted love and betrayal that had led to this horrific end.
But one thing was for sure.
In every universe, Gwen Stacy had always fallen for spider-man.
And in every universe, it never ended well.

Here's an ask for you, dear mutual! What are your 3 most favorite games? Would you recommend them?
MUTUAL MY BELOVED THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION THANK YOU
I just, whoa, RESPECT for separating 'favourite' games and If I would 'recommend' them. Respect, man, cause yup, favourite game doesn't always have to be a good game xD
From the top o my head, the top 3 would be: Outer Wilds, Pyre and Horizon ZD. These are also games that kind of I could separate my life by - before (title) and after it.
Outer Wilds is a masterpiece, Please. Everyone. Try. This. Game. Out.
Tumblr media
If I had to choose ONE game that I could reccomend, it would be this. Outer Wilds is an incredible experience, this is so freakin hard to put into words properly. I'm sure any gamer saw at least one of the actual dozens of essays about this game, and it still deserves more in my opinon. This is the most beautiful game I have ever played, this is the most frightening game I have ever played, this is the most adrenaline out of everything I have ever played, this is, okay it is the Second most musical game I have played, this is the most joyous game I have ever played, this is the most hopeful game I've ever played. Outer Wilds is amazing and it is the everything game I've ever played. If you love exploration - you gotta play it, if you love space - you gotta play it, if you love space westerns my beloved best genre ever - you gotta play it, if you love existential joy and dread in one package - you gotta play it.
Thankfully, everyone single person is different, which is great, because otherwise the world would be terribly boring. However, this also means this game won't really grab you if you like more linear or handholding experiences, cause this game is ALL about exploration, and well, it won't really entertain you if you're not actively trying to do that yourself. Oh, I am also unsure how it controls on keyboard, but this game feels very much controller-centric experience, you'll need the ability to press those buttons gently, trust me. Except the autopilot, it will guaranteed entertain you xD.
Now, Pyre is the aforementioned Most Musical Game I have ever played.
Tumblr media
I've been a long-time Supergiant Games fan, as Darren Korb has stole my soul away in 2013 with the Transistor OST, and I don't really want it back. If the name rings a bell, but you can't place it - these are the authors of HADES. While Transistor is very near and dear to my heart, Pyre is just a very unique blend of exact concentrations of everything I love in a game.
IT'S NOT A SPORTS GAME.
Pyre is much more of a visual novel really, the arcade battles in-between are kind of rare tbh, most of your time you will be reading in this game. I love party-RPGs, but my favourite game in the genre is Dragon Age 2, which is, while an okay game, it's my favourite because of the companions and their dynamics, not only with the player, but with each other as well, and watching them grow, progress and interact is a pure joy. Pyre scratches that exact itch - you're really playing for the story and the characters inside of it, it's great fun. Visually, the game is a Grade-Supergiant Masterpiece, and musically, well, let's just say Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett have their own minstrel characters.
Pyre is also, in my opinion, the most freakin DIVERSE Supergiants game. The player character basically leads the Triumvirate of their traveling companions (yeah, it's also a roadmovie!) to compete with other Triumvirates, each one consisting of a rival team, and each, Each, of the Seven teams have their own music track and bring their own genre to the OST pallete. These genres will range from folk with different instruments, to chivalric tunes, to metal, ....existential rock? remember the threat track from the Spiderverse with the siren? basically, this game has something like that. And it's not just one 'battle' track that works like this either! There is a special Rite (arcade ritual where you play against a rival team), which has the two minstrels sing the g o r g e o u s key title song Never to Return, which was Seven variations of music and lyrics for this song, depending on which team you're up against. The way Darren made the initial song bend to all those different genres and instruments is fascinating to me. Pyre and Outer Wilds OSTs both fall into the very exclusive category 'I will bawl my goddamn eyes out if I hear even a single note', Outer Wilds OST is a powerful beast for sure, but you can't really compete with a title that has music ingrained so deeply into it, so Pyre is first place for me.
youtube
The difficulty and lore in this title are no slouches either. Supergiants have this cool lore habbit of unlocking it through gameplay experimentation, and this principle also works in Pyre without a hitch. Some character might get seasick, and won't be able to participate in a Rite (arcade game part), or a rival team will have a familiar of theirs and the character will ask to not be pitied against their friend or family. The games does a supreme job of blending together gameplay and story decisions like that, this should be like studied in gamedev. Also, the story around some particular rivals might make you actually want to lose to them, and I haven't seen much games that accomplish this.
Difficulty is also a fun aspect of the game to play with, Supergiant have a habit of locking additional world lore behind challenges, and let's just say this game has Challenge if you ask for it. The AI in this game can play better than any player, cause you need all the reaction speed, enemy team knowledge, skill ad party composition of your own team and strategy to win, it's extremely fun to play around, at least it is for me. Let's just say on my high difficulty with modifiers playthrough, the final battle lasted for about 11 minutes for me (in a game that has Rites finish in maybe 3 min), and my bloodstream has never seen such high percentage of adrenaline as it did for those 11 minutes, probably never will either. I keep the whole footage for myself, and oh boy how many jumpscares are there xD Literal fight for the ages, it was amazing. Best feature yet?
You can lose every single Rite and still finish the game. There is no 'joke' ending either, it's entirely possible to never score a single win if you wish to and the story will adapt to it. The same way 'winning' is not always 'best' for the character but that's for you to choose really.
Basically, this game has everything - roadmovie, fun gameplay, a Holy-Grade OST, amazing characters and a great story. The only real reason you might not get into it is if you don't like reading, cause this game has a lot of reading. As all good rpgs and visual novels do and should.
For my third fave I choose Horizon ZD.
Tumblr media
The robodino-infested post-post-apocalypse got to me, alright. I love the world of this series, for me it's like a personification of hope really. It's also the first game I played when I got my ps4 and that was a huge deal for me) The bio-ecological focus of the game is also very very much my jam. I love just booting up the game and wondering around and just vibing in there. The design of all the tribal cultures, their traditions, myths and clothing is also a joy for me, it's really fascinating for some reason. Love this game very much. The gameplay is great fun, and also this game got me into my first photomode frenzy, I got very hard into game-photography because of this title) Got a habbit of using my screens for wallpapers and icons everywhere, and I've been doing that ever since.
Honourable mentions:
Darksiders series (1,2,3 and Genesis)
Tumblr media
I love these games, they are very fun, the OSTs are amazing, especially Jasper Kyd's for the second game and Astarte theme from the Genesis. I have lost count of how much times I replayed Darksiders 2, it's been way too many that's for sure, and how could you even resist a Riders of the Apocalypse game with their actual steeds?! These are great fun. Also there's an extremely good novel Abomination Vault about Death and War, and I have reread this one waaaaaay too many times too (it's so good!). Obligatory reminder for everyone to play Genesis btw, it's a truly great darksiders title, everyone's really sleeping on it.
Rain World
Tumblr media
I. Do not know. What to say about this game. It's amazing, it's horrible, it's frustrating, it's occasionally fun? All of these. Most of all, Rain World is truly unique. The game has amazing creature AI and procedual animation, and these two factors result in a very very Very unique experience, I suggest anyone tries it. This is too, a very bio-ecology themed game, and the art is honestly gorgeous.
I've fallen into literal toxic relationship with this title - I love it, I hate it, I can't get enough of it, I'm so goddamn fed up with it I can't play this anymore, I'll surely close the game after another death.
Red Strings Club
Tumblr media
Another visual novel! This one is only a 3 or so hours one, but with a twist. My friend suggested we play it when we were hanging out together, and, lemme tell you, the dialogue, the plot, the themes, the questions that this game asks of you had us spend three times the 'standard' playtime. This game is literally pool-wide and marianna-trench-deep, it's amazing.
DMC5 & CONTROL
Tumblr media
I grouped these two together, cause these games are FUELED by fun. These games were made For fun, To have fun, and By People Who Were having Fun Making Them. DMC5 will also train you harder than any Guitar Hero, while CONTROL will stealthily make you architecture and Sam Lake - obsessed. CONTROL is also the source of all of my current wallpapers, cause photography in this game is On Point. Both are great and a real joy, also I have played them the same year)
this is where I would have mentioned DRG if I had put more hours into it
Thank you for reading all of this, and game on my friends)

i am thinking about spiderverse again (spoilers here yadda yadda) and. just.
there is hope. and community. and trying. and love. and miles embodies that, i think.
i really enjoyed hobie as a character because he’s EXACTLY what britpunk embodies and has roots in while also being deeply tied to a specific feeling of ‘this world does not care for me so i’ll burn it all’ that is just pure anarchy
but he’s not a team player
miles IS
miles works SO well in a team, he is so friendly and kind and works with other people really well and enjoys their company and he is so LONELY for friends who understand and get him which must hurt more because he KNOWS they’re out there!
miles and hobie have a lot of similarities in their denial of miguel’s ideology and rejection of the spider task force and i adored hobie being the anarchist shit he is and being on the side of miles when it got heated
but i look at miles and his huge family, his connection to his parents and his community, his dedication to his friends and the way he jumped in to save Officer Singh in Pavi’s world - when gwen’s watch flashed ‘canon event disrupted’ i was filled with joy because!! yes!! the story changed!! its different now!! he didn’t have to die!!
and then we get to ‘that was Supposed to happen’ and just.
miguel defines himself by suffering and as such has dragged a large group of incredibly powerful people into defining their stories with him
not quite crabs in a bucket but. there is identity in suffering
but there is also identity in community and love that community is built upon
miles is built on community, HIS community - his dad, his uncle, his mum and every single member of his extended family, as well as his community of spider-friends
when miguel tells him he must forsake his community, his identity, for an identity he DIDN’T choose (miguel said ‘being spiderman is a sacrifice and one you made when you signed up for this’ motherfucker the DEFINING TRAIT of the spider-bite is that it was UNWANTED so no, no one ‘signed up’ for ANY of this actually), that speaks so much to me
i don’t have many intelligent thoughts about this, but just something about, centering miles’ identity around his family and community when he is a black-puerto rican boy living in colonised america, it just. man.
when he demands he can save both his dad and the spiderverse, because spiderman does save everyone. because why should spiderman be defined by suffering? why does ‘the canon’ have to rely on the hero losing someone? yes its lore and what not but. why. why does a black child need to be Defined by suffering. what does that prove. what does that do. tell me, genuinely, what is the fucking point of that.
again, no intelligent thoughts. i am just chewing on this but man. it will stay in my heart for a while i think.
spiderverse good.

Upcoming Stories...
Now that my prior 9 promised fics and requests are completed, here are 8 more stories that have been requested or thought into existence that I will be working on next:
Listed in the order of their future posting, along with summaries.
Story summaries under the cut.
★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★
Post dates (12pm EST)
Hero Crush - Virgil Hawkins [Static]: July 3rd
Mechanics of the Heart - Amazo: July 6th
Kiss Tax - Bart Allen [Impulse]: July 10th
Misunderstandings - J'onn J'onzz [Martian Manhunter]: July 13th
Heart Stops - Bart Allen [Impulse]: July 17th
To Woo You, Pt. II - J'onn J'onzz [Martian Manhunter]: July 20th
Storming in the Streets, Pt. III - Conner "Kon" Kent [Superboy]: July 24th
Figured it Out - Jaime Reyes [Blue Beetle]: July 27th
★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★…★
Hero Crush - Virgil Hawkins [Static]
Summary: When Richie starts asking about your younger years, he learns something interesting about your old "celebrity" crush – it was Static. Unaware of your friends’ secret identities, Virgil has to try and remain collected after Richie calls him in ASAP, only to hear you defending your old puppy-love crush on the electric hero from an all too amused, and momentarily vexing, blonde.
…★…
Mechanics of the Heart - Amazo {Request}
Summary: He would have an eternity – to learn, to watch, to adapt. But that still meant that every so often Amazo was bound to experience something for the first time. He would need to learn how to navigate things he was unfamiliar with or seek help when absolutely necessary. Amazo had proven that he was capable of acting beyond his initial programming, and feelings were an addition he now grappled with. This feeling however, when he first met you after his return to Earth, eluded him, driving him to seek out an explanation from another.
Notes: Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, the animated show, version of Amazo.
…★…
Kiss Tax - Bart Allen [Impulse]
Summary: Bart had always been affectionate in your relationship. Quick to give or ask for anything from a hug to a kiss – the latter of which he had made a habit of giving before each mission he went on. At least when it wasn’t something last minute or it was manageable. But you had finally decided to return the affections yourself, beginning to ask for a “kiss tax” for small things such as passing through the door or handing over a drink. A practice that Bart seemed more than happy to adopt and turn around on you just as quickly.
…★…
Misunderstandings - J'onn J'onzz [Martian Manhunter] {Request}
Summary: Working on the tower or in any vicinity of a hero was never a safe job – and while staff often got to avoid the worst of it, they were not always spared from injury. You had been lucky up until this point, managing to avoid the fray until one bad choice to switch a shift and help out. You got off lucky though, despite being one of the last to evacuate the room, you would heal just fine. At least that was what Martian Manhunter told you. But the coming days found him at your side more often than not despite being cleared, and you were unaware of the circulating theories surrounding the two of you.
Notes: The Supergirl version was requested and I will try to accommodate, but I have not seen that series so he may end up being significantly more like the JL/JLU Animated version.
…★…
Heart Stops - Bart Allen [Impulse] {Request}
Summary: The last anyone sees of you it isn’t good. The fight goes south and any communication with you goes dark the moment the rockslide begins. Bart is fast, faster than anyone on his team, but he feels like he isn’t fast enough as he searches for you among the aftermath of the disaster.
Notes: The request was for a reader similar to someone from spiderverse, but I do not do crossovers, so I made them a meta with a similar skillset.

Storming in the Streets, Pt. III - Conner "Kon" Kent [Superboy] {Request}
Summary: The first date had been a success, even with his friends peaking in, and the few that you had gone on after all ended the same way – fantastic. But noticing that he planned most of the dates, and that he had been busier than normal, you take it upon yourself to plan a nice night in to surprise him.
…★…
Figured it Out - Jaime Reyes [Blue Beetle] {Request}
Summary: You’ve known Jaime for some time now, which also means you’ve noticed that more than a few things don’t always add up around him. Too bad for him, he happens to be very bad at hiding things from you when you finally confront him.

all my tiny gripes about the spiderverse movies so far:
1. miles and gwens friendship has like no development on screen???
like yea i get that they saved the multiverse in the first movie but like seriously they had like an hour on that bus for casual chatting and like the rest is all cuz they spiders and need to go home ?? give us more proof that they are besties forever not "friends? friends." does not sit well with me but i love them nonetheless
2. spots portals are kinda wacky
like in the first fight between spot and miles we get a scene of them falling thru portal space but also like it seems the portals are instantaneous in every other circumstance??? so ur telling me spot literally has an infinite (?) storage system in the form of throwing things in his portals without opening them again? am confused
3. give us more hobie pls
that is all. hobie brown ladies and gentlemen.
4. no backgrounding
all opinion this is my most minor problem but like backgrounding please? did miles learn to develop his own web fluid? what happened to spider cave after may moved out? what is new yorks opinion on the new spiderman? etc. etc. not too big of a problem i would just like to know
overall thank you spiderverse animators and team it is an amazing movie i love it with all my heart please do not overwork yourselves on the next one take your time i can wait

SOOOOO I saw spiderverse today and I have THOTS and since I went alone and didn't get the chance to scream at it to no one I'm going to scream about it very messily here so apologies in advance
gosh and we had two annoying high schoolers who kept taking pictures with FLASH during the movie??? After the 10th one for the first time in my life, I actually told them to stop because it was so annoying, at least take them without flash damn
there are very heavy spoilers under the cut you have been warned
not me immediately starting to tear up at gwen's backstory, I love gwen so so much and adored the angst of it all, even tho it made me shatter
love that no matter which universe all spidermen have complicated family relationships no matter what, I really really love Miles's dad and mom, they're amazing, such a power couple
THE SPOT bless him that introduction was so fun
adoredddd Pavitr Prabhakar and Hobie, I liked that Hobie basically knew that the whole thing was fucked up and thought Miles how to properly use her electricity
MIGUEL--- okay my heart breaks for this man but I love that he has a soft side (also a dramatic side fgbfg) he apparently shows to the ones he like the most dvdfvb (aka not miles which is a shame because he was so psyched to meet him)
Oscar Isaac did an amazing job, and yes, you can expect me to write fics for Miguel. I don't make the rules
full disclosure I'm still confused why Peter B was with Miguel when the universe he inhabited was getting destroyed?? I might've missed something there but I like that they have a shared backstory
ALL THE EASTER EGGS ADREW, TOBEY, PS4 SPIDERMAN, DONALD GLOVER????????????
okay I was not expecting Miles to be an anomaly???? I actually loved that but also, you guessed it, I was a wreck dvfdbf
the entire fight sequence was *chefs kiss*
I don't know if he was there and I missed it but would've loved to see 1994 animated spider man
I understand but also can't believe Peter B and gwen didn't at least warn him after Miguel ended up there--they could've at least warn a guy. I would be super hurt too by that, that scene in it's entirety was so brutal. Imagine someone just telling you your entire existence is an anomaly. It's even worse because that world's peter died because of him and he's seen that impact, met aunt may, which make it so much worse for him. I just wanna give him a hug
also I understand that all heroes need a death to get them going (at least in this situation with the spidermen) but didn't Miles already complete his family member death poll? Do all police captains die so they can fulfill their destiny or whatever you want to call it?
evil miles???? fuck that entire scene was so so chilling, I loved every second of it. I legit got goosebumps. My theory is actually he's not like a bad guy (even tho I just called him evil miles lmaosvd) it might be cliche but I feel like he's the prowler to be a sorta "spiderman" since universe-42 doesn't have one.
Even tho he seems menacing he just stared a fact that it's not his dad, which. . . is true so I don't think they're just going to make him straight up the villain or anything
Part 2 is going to be epic, I squealed when I saw the og team (and others) team up again!! FUCK I AM SO EXCITED
conclusion; I can't wait to watch this movie over and over like I did with the first one and the animation was just *chefs kiss*
sorry this whole post is a mess lmao but if you have any thoughts please feel free to share!

Okay so- SPIDERVERSE SPOILERS and a big rant
My heart hurts for miles so bad-
He's clearly been missing his friends. To the point he went through the effort of painting them on a freaking wall. That he was basing his future on finding a way to meet them. He wanted to meet them so badly..
..only to find out that they have been meeting without him? That they could have met him before but didn't? They found out some serious shit about him, discussed it with each other and took away his right to know?
As if that wasn't bad enough, the fact that despite doing everything he can to fulfil his role of spiderman, to find out that no one considers him spiderman? The way everyone snubbed him was so cruel. Hardly anyone in the spider society was willing to talk to him. The way Jesse said ' I know who you are' as if Miles was some criminal was completely unnecessary. When they all met Miguel, the way Gwen and Peter were talking, trying to calm Miguel down as if Miles had done something awful and Miles is just so confused because GWEN DIDN'T TELL HIM SHIT
She jeopardised her mission to meet Miles. Told him all about her job. Lied blatantly about said job. Fulfilled her wish to meet Miles. Left him with so many questions. He followed her through the dimension, not bc he was overcome with curiosity, but bc he could see that she was troubled and wanted to help. Even then, she doesn't tell him anything. The fact that he basically stands trial infront of Miguel, and doesn't know anything about the supposed crime he's committed- all the while the one person he considers a friend could have told him but she didn't. It was a classic case of tell him before he finds out the wrong way. And he did.
Gwen herself is in a bad position, yes. But then why meet Miles at all? She was clearly having a great time making friends with difference spidermen and spider women and going on missions. She can't even deny that she agreed with miguel. Remember that scene where Pav, Miles and Gwen meet spot and he says 'hello spiderman' and Gwen and Pav say hi back and he says 'not you' and gwen and pav don't even think of Miles- who's right bw them WEARING A SPIDERMAN COSTUME. A part of Gwen stopped seeing Miles as spiderman too. The fact she didn't respect his right to be in the know, to decide for himself. If she'd told him about how everyone views him, he probs would not have followed her, let alone go to HQ and face miguel. She didn't have to tell him about everything that's canon even. Just the part about the spiderman being from a different dimension. It would have hurt, but not as much as being chased by a mob and getting beat up and told the worst news ever. Not as much as trying to get home to save your father, only to watch as some AH tries to claw open the portal you're leaving in while you can clearly see your friends not even lift a finger to stop him.
Gwen definitely hurt Miles. Which is unusual bc isn't spiderman the one who usually messes up with the girl in some way? Usually, spiderman either pisses her off, hurts her or tries to get away from her as much as he can. This time, Gwen did that. She truly did hurt Miles with her actions. And I truly doubt that he'll go back to normal with any of them, even if the team does succeed in stopping spot and saving his dad.
On another note, spider byte and hobi are star characters. The way they went out of their way for miles- screw the love triangle shit its completely unnecessary. These are the kind of friends Miles needs, who respected that he had the right to choose and didn't take the side of an AH like Miguel to get in his way.

hi. i saw the movie today. part 2 is coming out in 2024 and i am dying, because the end of the first half punched me in the gut. brace yourself, because you were the one who said i could spoil you. also i fully apologize for the essay i’m about to write, but i have literally no one else i can gush to, and i get a really uncomfortable jittery feeling when i can’t let out my excitement. before we begin, this is going to spoil possibly the entire movie. be warned. first the ✨big villain✨.
this came as a surprise to me, despite seeing the trailer, but it’s “the spot”. yes that’s the guy in the trailer who has sliced bread fall out of his weird, black, stomach vortex. he spends around the first half being a very bad villain who’s personality is hilarious, and then he becomes a threat to the entire multiverse in the span of five minutes. he’s hilarious either way though, and i feel like if deadpool was pg and a villain he would have a very similar personality to the spot. also i would be just as awkward as he is before he gets his evil power up, if i was a villain.
the movie spends the first bit focusing on gwen, and she’s actually the catalyst for miles getting into the multiverse! he would’ve been completely oblivious if she hadn’t dropped in, broke every dimensional club rule ever, and accidentally let him follow her through a portal. side note i love the spider-man they meet there, and also spider-punk who i love with my very whole heart.
this ends up with him being told about “universal canon” ex; the uncle always dies. there’s also a “police chief close to spider-man always dies”, and this is a problem because as soon as miles’ dad is promoted, he is destined to die. obviously miles is very not chill with this, even though stopping it could break the entire multiverse, and destroy that dimension entirely. he ends up booking it to try and get back to his dimension, with every spider-person ever(also the cat, the horse, and my personal favorite, peter parkedcar.) after him.
fancy, high tech, creepy, future spider-man, miguel reveals that miles is basically the “original anomaly”, because the spider that bit him was from another dimension, and was supposed to bite someone there instead. this dna oopsie leads to the big fancy weird, white, fleshtech spider dna reader to send him to the completely wrong universe. gwen is also having a terrible time but it’s kind of overwhelming to explain all of it and her story is kind of separate but parallel to his.
tldr; miles ends up in a very bad place where he is the prowler, and also captured, gwen sets up a very small spider team to help him(including peter b and his absolutely adorable spider baby who is actually the smartest spider-person, because they’re all idiots at heart), and every other spider person in the multiverse is straight up going to shoot him on sight(yes one of them has a real gun.) also his dads going to die in two days, he has no way back home, and gwen has no idea where he is and thus cannot find and help him. OK NOW THAT THE STORY IS OUT THERE, MY REAL FAVORITE BITS.
every universe and spider-person or animal has their own animation style. the colors and shades are all different and my favorite dimension is gwen’s because it’s super watercolor and the lighting changes people’s colors completely. all the spiders have different fighting styles, and the music is epic.
also peter b is still an idiot despite being a dad and i love him. my other favorite is the spider-man who narrates everything he’s doing, all the time, in a very dramatic batman esque voice. i would say more but i might be having a slight mental collapse right now. don’t worry about it i’ll probably be done by thursday(hopefully.). i have to go consume every piece of spiderverse media i can find now.-G
You're excitement in these words - I LOVE IT !!!
I can agree with everything you said!
I loved the twisty part of the villain, it made him a even better character. To me, these are the best written villains!
The ending though - whyyyyyyyyy.
It makes sense for the Part 2 coming in 2024, but C'MON! ( T . T; )
I love the style of Gwen's universe too! The different animation styles in one movie were the thing that confused me at first, but they MATCH SO WELL AND I- WHY hasn't anyone else had this idea yet???
Several soundtracks of the movie have found their way into my daily playlist ... ( ^∀^)
I wish you a great time pursuing that lovely hyperfixation!
Get your sweet dopamine ! 🤌🏾🔥
Tumblr media
Don't apologize for that long inbox, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

Spider Li Into The Spiderverse
➥ summary: (Y/n) Li was a normal teenage girl until she had been bitten by a radioactive spider one day after coming home from the gym, now she isn’t so normal. With abilities like non other (Y/n) goes from being this normal teenager to this crime stopping super hero Spider Li! But out-worldly forces come into play when other spider people start visiting her world to find out more about her. After all what spiderperson has a family that accepts them for being a superhero, friends who know of their secrets, and no canon event ever to be found in history?! Spider Li that’s who! So just what makes this girl so special?
➥ chapter 5: Embracing the Hero Within
Tumblr media
The weight of the secret had burdened me for far too long. It was time to reveal my true identity to my family—to let them in on the extraordinary world I had become a part of. Nervously, I gathered my loved ones in the living room, my heart pounding with anticipation.
"Guys, I have something important to tell you," I began, my voice trembling ever so slightly. Their eyes locked on mine, filled with curiosity and concern. I took a deep breath and continued, "I am Spider Li. I have these incredible powers, and I've been using them to protect the city as a superhero."
Silence filled the room as my words hung in the air. I braced myself for their reactions, uncertain of how they would receive this revelation. Then, to my surprise, my father's face lit up with excitement.
"You're Spider Li?" he exclaimed, a broad smile spreading across his face. "That's incredible! I'm raising a superhero!"
Before I could react, my father swooped me up, slinging me over his shoulder in a playful gesture of celebration. Laughter erupted throughout the room as my younger siblings cheered and clapped their hands. Their eyes sparkled with awe and admiration, their innocence untouched by the complexities of the world.
My mother's eyes glistened with pride as she approached us, placing a gentle hand on my father's arm. "Our child, a superhero," she whispered, her voice filled with a mix of tenderness and amazement. "We've always known you were destined for greatness."
The warmth of their acceptance washed over me, dispelling any lingering doubts. In that moment, I realized that my family saw beyond the mask and the powers. They recognized the heroism within me, the desire to make a positive impact on the world.
My younger siblings gathered around, their faces alight with excitement. "Show us your powers, Spider Li!" they exclaimed, their voices filled with eagerness. I couldn't help but be amused by their enthusiasm, and a mischievous grin spread across my face.
"Alright, gather 'round, everyone," I said, my voice filled with excitement. "Prepare to witness the amazing abilities of Spider Li!"
With a flick of my wrist, I shot webs across the room, weaving intricate patterns that captivated the attention of my siblings. They clapped and cheered, their eyes wide with wonder. I swung through the air, executing acrobatic flips and spins, much to their delight. It was a performance filled with joy and exhilaration, a testament to the newfound bond between us.
As the cheers subsided, my family enveloped me in a tight embrace. Their love and support provided me with the strength to continue my journey as Spider Li, to face the challenges that lay ahead. It was a reassurance that I wasn't alone, that I had a team of heroes behind me—my family.
In the days and weeks that followed, my family became my biggest allies. They provided a safe space for me to discuss my adventures, to share the victories and the hardships. Their unwavering support fueled my determination to protect the city, to make a difference in the lives of those around me.
My siblings became my biggest fans, eagerly awaiting stories of my exploits and cheering me on with unbridled enthusiasm. They wanted to be part of my world, to witness the extraordinary firsthand. Together, we embarked on adventures within the confines of our own home, reimagining the city streets as the backdrop for our superhero tales.
My parents, too, played an integral role in my journey. They nurtured my sense of responsibility, reminding me of the importance of using my powers for good. They instilled in me the values of compassion and justice, reinforcing that true heroism lay not only in extraordinary abilities but also in acts of kindness and empathy.
In the eyes of my family, I was more than just Spider Li. I was their daughter, their sister—a beacon of hope and inspiration. They celebrated my successes and comforted me during moments of doubt. With their unwavering support, I continued to grow, both as a superhero and as an individual.
As I look back on that pivotal moment when I revealed my secret to my family, I am filled with gratitude. Their acceptance and encouragement have shaped my journey, providing me with the strength to face adversity and the confidence to embrace my true self.
Every day, as Spider Li, I strive to make a difference, to protect the innocent and uphold justice. And with my family by my side, cheering me on every step of the way, I know that I am never alone.
Together, we weave a tapestry of love, courage, and resilience—a testament to the power of family and the transformative potential of embracing the hero within.

working tirelessly on tommy and tubbo’s spiderguy designs but here’s some random things i’ve decided about the spiderverse au:
-ranboo (3) has a strong minnesotan accent and it is why tommy (1) and tubbo (2) didn’t immediately recognize his voice.
-tommy (1) usually has a very flashy fighting style, but when he’s teamed up with other spiders he ‘tones it down’ as to not appear too childish since he wants to be ‘on their level’. he eventually grows out of this around tubbo (2) and ranboo (3).
-puffy serves as aunt may in universes 1 and 2, since tommy (1) and tubbo (1) stayed very close after losing ranboo. in both universes she knows spiderman’s identity. in ranboo’s (3) universe, ‘aunt may’ is bad(boyhalo), but he does not know spider-pog’s identity at first.
-schlatt is the role of the police captain in universe 2, but he wasn’t a good one. not even a ‘good cop’ in the sense that he was lawful, since he didn’t do much at all. he ending up being taken out on one of the rare occasions he patrolled, and he wasn’t much missed.
-pogona is a real lizard in universe 3, in the others she was a stuffed one.
i love ALL OF THIS so much!!!
ranboo out here with a strong minnesotan accent is not something i knew i needed in my life but i DID. you KNOW tommy and tubbo make fun of them too... repeat words in the accent... ough i love that
also i genuinely think tommy would have the time of his life fighting when its not life or death and hes just making quips and stuff. gotta have fun, gotta be flashy! before anyone dies, im sure its easier to feel that way... but YEAH also love that
im loving the concept of bad being the aunt may figure in ranboo (3)'s universe, and would love to hear more about him and ranboo if you want to share !! i love him so much. love him with all my heart
i can so vividly imagine ranboo (3) coming home, taking off their spider suit, sitting down next to pogona's enclosure and going "i dont know what i got myself into pogona. i really dont." and then sighing really heavily and staring at the wall for a while.
i seriously love this all so much omg... thank you for blessing me with more about this au...

Thoughts on across the spiderverse in whatever order my brain comes up w because I need to write it down while it's fresh in my mind:
Starting with things I was wrong about (based on minor spoilers I'd seen beforehand):
1. Thought spot was another spiderman. Was proved wrong instantly. All I knew was that he was a silly little guy and I LOVE that he's a silly little guy but also fucked up with it <3
2. Thought miguel was the main villain. Sort of right, will go into my thoughts on his character later because he's SUCH a good villain
3. Thought hobie would have more screen time, purely based on the amount of fanart and gushing abt him I'd seen. Disappointed he wasn't around as much as I thought he'd be but I still love him and understand the hype
MOVING ON, scenes I really enjoyed:
1. The opening scene (obviously). As a percussionist every time I see gwen on the drums I get so excited. The visuals along with the music made me have to restrain myself from bouncing my legs a lot because I didn't want to shake the chairs of the people next to me lmao
2. The scene where spot explains his connection to miles and actually becomes legitimately threatening/scary. No longer villain of the week!
3. Every scene with gwen and her father. The way the background steadily becomes more abstract the longer they talk is so good. The way it reflects their emotions and also makes them seem more defined in contrast.
4. Miguel's intro. When his theme kicked in I was like oh yeah. This guy is a villain for SURE
5. When they first entered the HQ and all the spidermen were making quippy one-liners. Made me smile real big. Also the sheer amount of individual spider designs they made was incredible.
6. The chase scene in the HQ had me leaning forward with my heart pounding. Just. Everything about it. The music was amazing (as usual)
7. The way they make you think gwen is listening in on miles' conversation with his mom was so clever, made the reveal that he was in the wrong dimension so much more impactful
8. WHEN THE PROWLER THEME KICKS IN. THE PANTIES HIT THE FLOOR
And now the main event - thoughts on miguel because he's incredibly well-written and I'm obsessed with him:
Finding out that spot was the "main" villain surprised me because of my impression of him before I saw the movie, but after watching it I still don't feel like he IS the main villain, because really, there's two. Spot is a villain because his actions drive the plot forward - he's the Bad Guy that the Good Guys need to stop. His reasons for hating miles are understandable (if misplaced. It's not like miles hurt him on purpose), but ultimately, the viewers aren't supposed to sympathize with his cause. His actions are clearly Wrong, and the heroes' attempts to stop him are clearly Right. While his actions upset miles and the rest of the spidermen (who wouldn't be upset by someone threatening to kill their loved ones?), they don't present any moral conflict, or provide character growth for the heroes.
That's where miguel comes in. He doesn't give a lot away from his first introduction - he's more stiff and serious than other spidermen, but the way he fights with gwen and jessica shows that he's used to working with a team, and is ultimately willing to let gwen join them. When he sees her argument with her father, he sees a like-minded individual - someone who's willing to do what they think is right, even when it's not easy.
When he meets miles, we've already seen glimpses of his life with his daughter - but it seems like typical Spiderman Tragic Backstory. The longer he talks with miles, the more he loosens up (his quip about how their official name for the spider-verse is also kind of dumb stuck out to me the most). He becomes more complex and relatable, easier to like when he's not acting like batman. It's easier to understand why so many spidermen across multiple universes follow him, and why gwen and peter listened to him and hid the truth from miles.
He truly and completely believes that what he's doing is the right thing, and that alone makes him feel more like the "main" villain than spot. When he tells miles that saving the captain was the wrong choice, because it means that that universe will start to fall apart, it's both shocking and understandable, to a degree. It's a classic use of the trolley problem: allowing one person to die when you can save them seems extreme, but when you let someone die in order to save an entire world, it's the right thing to do... right?
THIS is the main conflict within the story - not what the heroes should do to stop spot, although that's still important - but whether allowing someone to die is the right thing to do (and by extension, if it's what spiderman would do). Because miles is the main character, it's clear to the audience that miguel is wrong, but the other spidermen don't know they're in miles' story. And generally in media, the option to sacrifice one person to save many is shown as the correct option, or the heroic option. Believing that their loved ones HAD to die, and the idea that nothing they did would be able to stop their deaths from happening, makes it easier for all of them to cope. When miles stands up to miguel, it's clear why the rest of the spidermen would try and stop him.
Miguel's belief that certain people have to die in order to maintain balance, the reveal that miles wasn't supposed to be bitten, and the fact that he turned miles' friends against him is what drives miles' character development. Miles' actions in response drive the development of the rest of the cast - from main characters like gwen and peter, to the spiderwoman who allowed miles to escape. Suddenly, they're found questioning whether what they're doing is right.
But miguel unshakably believes in his cause, and is willing to do whatever it takes for the Greater Good. Which, to me, is the hallmark of a compelling villain. He's angry at himself for inadvertently destroying a universe. He grieves the loss of his daughter and his chance at a happy life. And he projects this onto everyone around him. To him, everyone is as likely to make the same mistakes as him, because they weren't calculated decisions. They were simply the actions of a man who just wanted to live a good life with the people he loved. And if he couldn't have that, why would the universe make an exception for someone else? Why would it be kind to miles, who wasn't supposed to be bitten, but was still able to exist in his universe without consequences? It isn't Fair.
The reveal that the other miles became prowler adds an extra layer to miguel and miles' dynamic: miguel took the place of the other spiderman because in his universe, his family was alive. From what we see of prowler miles at the end of the movie, he feels the same. His uncle may be alive, but his father is dead. (Cue the "we're not so different after all" speech.)
To summarize: miguel provides the bulk of the moral conflict to the story, is a relatable and compelling character, and this is why he feels like the "main" villain, despite all of spot's hard work to not be Villain of the Week.
Also, rip to noir and pig john mulaney for getting like two seconds of screen time

So...Sony is pretty shit at building a cinematic universe and fans have been trying to help them by giving them idea after idea but Sony just doesn't seem to want to listen and the got me to look at concepts made by fans for movies like spiderman 2099 and spidergwen and while those are great ideas I came up with my own and it's a scarlet spider movie with kaine as the lead it would be nice but hard to sell seeing as all the history behind the character but it could be something they reveal at either at the beginning of the movie sorta like how they did it for into the spiderverse or show it through flash backs or if they really want to try building a connected universe (wich I hope they don't because they rush everything but they still haven't learned anything)they could introduce him in the new madam web movie that's coming out or they could have him be the second villain for tasm3 with the first being the jackal but that doesn't seem like it would work seeing how they have gone through the work to show tasm peter is clearly grown up and is way past high school and is more of an adult not saying that you being in college doesn't make you an adult but what I mean is he feel like he is way past the college Era in his life and sure they could have the movie take place in the past but if your going to make tasm3 it should take place after nwh because that's the time period the audience cares about or most of the audience but as I said I hope they don't try to connect it all and they just have it be a stand alone movie as for inspiration they can just use the 2013 run and for the villain I think it should be the jackal but it could also work if it was kraven or it could be both with jackal coming up with the plan to psychologically hurt Kaine and leave him weakened and have kraven there just to fight Kaine but this is how I think it would go.
I think it should be jackal as the main villain with him hiring kraven to bring Kaine to him because he wants to use Kaine's DNA to recreate the mutation that gave Kaine 2x the strength of spiderman and kraven accepts because he got bored hunting animals and feels like Kaine will brove to be a worthy challenge or rival and so jackal starts making weapons and traps that kraven can use and while this is going on you have Kaine slowly figuring out how to be a superhero because the problem isn't that he can't use his powers it's about how he uses it compared to spiderman and the town wants him either arrested or dead but overtime he goes from brutally beating people to death to just breaking peoples bones and by the middle of the movie the people love him and he enjoys being the Scarlet spider but he gets taken by kraven after kraven figures out Kaine's "secret identity" and just as the jackal is about to get what he wants he stabed by kraven who wants to prove how much better he is than Kaine by killing him with his bare hands this leads to a fight between the two while the jackal who is still alive is making the clones but they over mutate and become these beastspider hybrid that join in the fight and start attacking both kraven and Kaine who both stop there fight to fight the beastspiders,Kaine tries to team up with kraven refuses saying that "it doesn't matter how many of the damn things there maybe he will kill them all and then Kaine"but as the fight goes on its clear both are losing badly and Kaine eventually gets overwhelmed and dies with the beastspidets now turning there full attention to kraven. We get the scene from the 2013 comic where Kaine and the other join together, with the other Kaine transformers into a even bigger spider hybrid and easily kills the beastspiders before reverting back to his human form and fighting kraven with kraven pulling out everything he has to fight Kaine but Kaine outclassed and ending kraven by punching him in the heart so hart it stops beating killing kraven but just as Kaine is about go after the jackal the jackal activities a self destruction process and his hideout is about to explode and it does with kaine escaping just in the nick of time and the movie ends with kain and his sorta family safe and with kaine In bracing the mantel of Scarlet spider and being a hero.
(I'm sooo sorry I made it this long and sorry it's not all that detailed I kinda thought of this off the top of my head 😅 but I'm going to to do a part 2 that's going to go over who I think should play the hero, the villain, and the supporting roles and the end credit scene because I have so many ideas but most importantly if there is anything that I should improve on in my idea then please let me know I like my idea but think it could be better and i want others who know and love the character to give me constructive criticism thanks and bye.)
