Robert Thegerström (January 7, 1857 - 1919) was a Swedish painter who trained at the Swedish Royal Academy and then spent over a decade in Paris. During this time he befriended Anders Zorn and August Strindberg, among others.

Back home in Stockholm in the early 1890s, he continued to host salons, and he also helped found Konstnärsförbundet. He is well represented at Swedish museums, including the National Gallery at Grippsholm Slott, which holds this work:

April 18, 1890 - Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna was born in St. Petersburg as the daughter of Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Alexandra Georgievna. This means she was a cousin of Tsar Nicholas II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. She was named after her late grandmother, Empress Maria Alexandrovna, and her aunt, grandaunt, and godmother, Empress Maria Feodorovna.

Maria was not yet two years old when her mother died from complications after giving birth to Maria's younger brother, Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich. Grand Duke Paul was so distraught by the unexpected death of his wife that he neglected his two small children, who were left in the care of his elder brother, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. Growing up without a mother and a frequently absent father, Maria and her brother Dimitri became very close, relying on each other for affection and companionship.

Shortly after Easter 1907, Prince Wilhelm, Duke of Södermanland, visited St. Petersburg and was introduced to the 16-year-old Maria Pavlovna. The prince was tall, thin, dark, and distinguished-looking "with beautiful grey eyes," Maria recalled in her memoirs. He stayed for dinner, and the following day, Maria was told that he wished to marry her. The official betrothal was announced in June 1907 at Peterhof Palace.

Maria Pavlovna later wrote that she felt her aunt had rushed her into the marriage. In her memoirs, Maria wrote: "I was using Wilhelm, in a sense, only to obtain my freedom." She and Prince Wilhelm married the following year in Tsarskoye Selo, and she became Princess Maria, the Duchess of Södermanland. The couple had one child together in 1909, Prince Lennart (later Lennart Bernadotte).

Their marriage was not happy, and they dissolved in March 1914. Maria returned to her home country in the same year as the divorce. After the revolution, she fled to France, and towards the end of her life, she lived in Konstanz, West Germany, near her son Lennart and his family.

On the way to Moominvalley

After about like..a year or more? of knowing Snufkin through his yearly travels south (then back north obvs) He agrees to guide Krumpel to Moominvalley. It's a tough trip for the both of them. He doesn't travel with others, even experienced travelers. The peace and solitude is a big part of his life and his self-care and traveling with others disrupts that. It forces him to change his habits, his routes, his schedule and being responsible for another person, even if just implicitly, doesn't appeal to him. Krumpel has grown up in towns and cities their whole life and has never traveled a long distance by foot. They know very little about nature, travel and safety in the wilderness. They have to leave nearly everything they value back in Stenhammar and make a major adjustment not just during the trip, but in Moominvalley. There are little to no comforts to be had in the wild and no real way for Krumpel to just relax and catch up with themself. They both are outside of their comfort zones and the further from Stenhemmar they go, the more tense things get. They can't just cancel and go separate ways. Things get hard for a period but they do reconcile and make it to Moominvalley.

La terza edizione del concerto benefico “Sulle note di un sogno” a favore dei reparti di Ematologia e Oncologia dell’Ospedale Maggiore di Trieste - Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Giuliano Isontina ASUGI in programma al Teatro Lirico “Giuseppe Verdi” di Trieste mercoledì 13 dicembre alle ore 20.00, è stata presentata oggi (mercoledì 6 dicembre) nella Sala Giunta del Comune di Trieste nel corso di una conferenza stampa introdotta dal Vicesindaco e Assessore alle Politiche Economiche e Teatri, Serena Tonel alla presenza di Rosa Balanzin e Daniela Cola del Comitato Cielo Aperto, di Giuliano Polo, Sovrintendente al Teatro Lirico “Giuseppe Verdi”, del Direttore d’Orchestra Walter Attanasi, del Professor Francesco Zaja, Primario del Reparto di Ematologia e della Dottoressa Alessandra Guglielmi, Primario del Reparto di Oncologia dell’Ospedale Maggiore di Trieste, di Manuela Cattaruzza, Presidente del Comitato AIRC FVG, di Stefano Battista, Presidente del Rotary Club Alto Adriatico, di Lidia Strain, socia del Lions Duino Aurisina, di Adriano Kovačič, Presidente della Banca di Credito Cooperativo ZKB, di Roberto Menis, Direttore di Trieste Marine Terminal, di Paride Centazzo, gestore assieme ad altri soci di quattro punti vendita Conad del territorio, di Corrado Bassanese, socio e fondatore di Primo Aroma Caffè e dell’attrice Sabrina Censky. “Sulle note di un sogno”, concerto benefico promosso dal Comitato Cielo Aperto, si svolge con la co-organizzazione del Comune di Trieste e con il contributo della Fondazione CRTrieste e di ASUGI. L’iniziativa prevede anche la donazione di due borse di studio per sostenere giovani promettenti del Conservatorio di Musica “G. Tartini” di Trieste. Il progetto, promosso e ideato da Rosa Balanzin e Daniela Cola del Comitato Cielo Aperto di Trieste, presente per il terzo anno sul palcoscenico del Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste, si avvale di importanti collaborazioni nel mondo della musica: Italia Arte Fest, Umbria Music Fest International e Scuola di Musica 55 di Trieste. La terza edizione del concerto - è stato detto nel corso della conferenza stampa dai promotori - prevede la presenza di artisti d’eccezione, a partire dal Maestro di fama internazionale Walter Attanasi che dirigerà l’Orchestra Sinfonica del Teatro Nazionale Sloveno di Maribor e solisti come il Tenore Max Jota, già conosciuto dal pubblico triestino per aver cantato recentemente a Trieste nell’opera “Manon Lescaut” di Puccini, il Soprano lettone Vera Talerko, vincitrice del primo premio dell’International Stenhammar Music Competition in Svezia e l’oboista slovena Nina Smrekar. Dall’anno della fondazione, il 2018, a oggi, il Comitato Cielo Aperto, con due eventi all’anno, ha ormai all’attivo circa 270.000 euro donati per beneficenza e destinati a favore degli ospedali triestini Maggiore e infantile Burlo Garofolo e per dare supporto economico a persone e famiglie in situazioni di grave disagio. Una parte del ricavato lo riserviamo per consuetudine all’istituzione di due borse di studio per allievi promettenti del Conservatorio di Musica “Giuseppe Tartini” di Trieste. Crediamo fortemente in questi obiettivi che perseguiamo con grande passione”. “Quest’anno - ha concluso Balanzin - abbiamo avuto l’opportunità di collaborare con l’AIRC, a cui va il nostro ringraziamento e in questo modo supporteremo ancora di più la ricerca. Un ringraziamento speciale alla Sovrintendenza del Teatro Lirico “Giuseppe Verdi” per la collaborazione e la disponibilità e al direttore d’orchestra Walter Attanasi per la grande professionalità dimostrata e per il modo in cui si è speso per la riuscita del progetto curandone ogni minimo dettaglio”. “Il nostro obiettivo finale - ha aggiunto Daniela Cola - è il supporto alla ricerca e ai Reparti di Ematologia e Oncologia dell’Ospedale Maggiore che già perseguiamo da qualche anno e proseguirà anche nel futuro”. E’ per questo che ho sempre sposato la causa del sociale, trovando meritorio il fatto che ci siano persone che investano il proprio tempo per far sì che altri ne beneficino e pertanto sono felicissimo di essere partecipe di questa iniziativa. La programmazione della serata è stata pensata per un pubblico eterogeneo, con l’idea era di proporre, dato il periodo prenatalizio, un programma che fosse portatore di cultura e allo stesso tempo gradevole e adatto anche ai non habitué dei teatri lirici e che al suo interno racchiude due concerti”. Attanasi ha quindi illustrato nel dettaglio il programma del concerto che prevede, nella prima parte, l’esecuzione di musica classica lirico-sinfonica con brani di Rossini, Puccini, Leoncavallo e Mascagni, mentre nella seconda sarà protagonista il cinema con la musica di Nino Rota ed Ennio Morricone. Un elegante valzer brillante darà il via alla seconda parte del concerto, eseguito in platea da 10 coppie di ballerini dell’a.s.d. Accademia Danze Trieste in collaborazione con Dance Team Friuli, responsabili tecnici Elisabetta Marcusa e Anna Plazzotta. “Sono felice di mettere a disposizione il teatro per questa iniziativa ancorché in un momento piuttosto complicato per la fitta programmazione, ma felice - ha affermato il Sovrintendente al Teatro Lirico “Giuseppe Verdi”, Giuliano Polo perché quando il teatro è impegnato al di là delle proprie iniziative significa che è vivo, ma soprattutto dev’essere una casa al servizio della comunità. In questo senso, la collaborazione con l’Orchestra Sinfonica del Teatro Nazionale Sloveno di Maribor con cui abbiamo avuto in passato delle coproduzioni è un valore aggiunto, perché insieme all’Amministra- zione comunale abbiamo puntato su una linea di collaborazione con tutte le istituzioni culturali e soprattutto quelle cittadine che sta dando i suoi risultati proprio in questo contesto natalizio. Complimenti e grazie al Comitato Cielo Aperto con il quale esiste una lunga frequentazione e al Maestro Attanasi per la proposta musicale di qualità”. “Un evento che si ripete per la terza volta - ha affermato il Professor Francesco Zaja, Primario del Reparto di Ematologia dell’Ospedale Maggiore di Trieste - non può che essere sinonimo di successo: nelle due precedenti edizioni ha raggiunto il proprio obiettivo di sensibilizzare la popolazione rispetto alle problematiche dei malati ematologici e oncologici e sottolineare l’importanza dei finanziamenti per lo svolgimento delle nostre attività. Nello specifico, i proventi delle donazioni vengono inseriti in un fondo dedicato alla ricerca che serve per permettere di curare i pazienti inserendoli in nuovi studi clinici affinché possano utilizzare farmaci che altrimenti non sarebbe possibile impiegare e, allo stesso tempo, far crescere il centro dove queste sperimentazioni vengono svolte. Ringraziamo per questo il Comitato Cielo Aperto, il Comune di Trieste, il Teatro Lirico “Giuseppe Verdi” che ospita l’iniziativa e tutte le altre figure e gli sponsor che rendono possibile questo evento”. “Mi fa molto piacere essere qui e avervi come collaboratori - ha osservato la Dottoressa Alessandra Guglielmi, Primario del Reparto di Oncologia dell’Ospedale Maggiore di Trieste - e quindi ringrazio tutti i soggetti coinvolti e tutti coloro che parteciperanno alla serata, sperando in un tutto esaurito”. “La Fondazione AIRC - ha ricordato la Presidente del Comitato AIRC FVG, Manuela Cattaruzza - ha due obiettivi principali: finanziare la ricerca e fare divulgazione. Tutti i fondi raccolti nel mese di dicembre andranno a sostenere la ricerca nel campo dei tumori pediatrici: la ricerca deve rimanere sempre nei nostri cuori perché senza ricerca non si va avanti in nessun campo”. All’entrata del Teatro saranno esposte tre vetture Maserati dello sponsor Ferri Auto SpA (gruppo Maserati).
