something you may or may not know about twin peaks is that it employs a ton of Character Voices --- sheryl lee, in particular, plays three separate characters (and a few extra, if we count the tulpas and my personal favorite, Waldo The Bird), and they all have their own things going on. her 'real' speaking voice is not a whole lot like any of them (somewhere between maddy and carrie --- sans lisp, sans twang --- for what it's worth).
most notably, it sounds the least like laura's, because laura's voice is a child's voice. laura's voice never deepened the way it should have as she aged; it stopped developing when she was around twelve (about the time she considers the 'start' of bob's abuse). it might not be incredibly noticeable in the movie, because she's still just seventeen, but it's a definite choice by someone a bit older, and it's something i think about a lot.
the thing is, laura was a happy kid, and not just in hindsight: she was easily rattled, but not generally anxious. she made lasting, meaningful connections with people without even trying. she knew who she was and where she came from, and was able to trust that things more or less tended to work out as they should. she could rest at night, and if she had nightmares --- which she often did --- she'd just get her mom, and her mom would sing to her and tell her stories until she fell back asleep, and she'd be no worse for wear. bob was a part of her life, but not an altogether negative one. he often scared her, but she didn't register him as a threat: he was more like a villain in a fairytale, and we all know how those are supposed to end. he was her father's friend, and benjamin's. she trusted them.
i don't see it as a theft of laura's voice, though: i don't think she was forced to remain childlike. i don't believe that was part of anyone's agenda but hers [however unconscious]. but while there wasn't much of an illusion of safety to cling to, she was aware that at least In The Before, a lot was going right for her. she had no reason, as a young girl, to doubt that her life would turn out exactly as she planned it would. conversely, she had no blueprint for anything after, no frame of reference for what would happen and what it would (and wouldn't) shape her into. 'growing up', for laura, was just something that seemed to be associated with More Suffering. there's an added layer to this when you consider the timing/patterns of abuse among peaks kids, but we don't need to go there. i think the stagnation of her voice --- like clinging so tightly to donna, and her childhood bedroom, and a million other things --- was a way to like, hold onto the Good In Life and remind herself who she was on her own, without bob's influence. i do think that with enough of the right therapies, it'll gradually 'fix' itself --- and that's positive for both physical and mental health reasons --- but it's not an altogether tragic story. like most where laura is concerned, she's just left trails back to herself, however high the price. and it's cost her a lot --- a cohesive identity, for one, arguably --- but i like how stubborn she is, how unwilling to play by anyone's rules but her own. i like that she never loses sight of who she calls 'Good Laura', even when she's berating herself. i love how protective she is of that little girl.

Thoughts on Alex being wrong and loving it
Red White and Royal Blue (2023 movie)
Remember the little quip Henry makes about admiring Alex's willingness to admit when he's wrong? It's such a great moment of foreshadowing, especially since Henry has no idea just how right he is.
Alex prizes himself on being someone who is skilled at reading people, at seeing the person beneath the surface, but he's never come across anyone quite like Henry before.
Alex must be used to people hiding who they truly are - he's been steeped in American politics for years - but he probably isn't expecting anyone from such a legacy of historic power and entitlement to be, at their core, an actual cinnamon roll.
Their initial meeting also comes at a time in Henry's life when any chink in his armour reveals only pain and anger, leading Alex to assume that what lies behind the carefully controlled façade isn't pleasant.
This assumption is only reinforced by further antagonistic interactions, fuelled by Henry's attempts to balance civility while protecting his heart as Alex consistently pulls Henry's metaphorical pigtails.
The fallout from cakegate forces them into extended periods of proximity and we see Alex start to glimpse pieces of the real Henry beneath his bland public persona. Each further piece that's revealed surprises and delights Alex and it's a joy to watch Taylor Zakhar Perez bring those moments to life.
Allow me to ramble about some of these:
1. Alex's pause of panic followed by surprised relief as Henry suavely responds to the interview question, "How did you end up on the floor of Buckingham Palace, covered in cake?" Alex's relief is two fold: he was floundering with no idea what to say (shouldn't have rebuffed Henry's request to prepare for this interview, Alex...) and Henry's answer is not at all what Alex was expecting. Henry could easily have attributed the event to clumsiness or tomfoolery on Alex's part - even just by subtle implication. That wouldn't have been out of line with some of Alex's answers (e.g., "Three words to describe Henry? Um... White, blond and British.") but Henry chooses a more protective route, deflecting attention from Alex, which comes as a pleasant surprise. [Of course he can't show this, so instead retaliates with something as annoying as possible. Cue side eye from Henry.]
2. Alex's big-eyed expression of sympathy as Henry tells him the Palace insisted on parading him around while he was grieving for his father. It's the key moment Alex realises he's built a lot of assumptions on a misunderstanding and has probably treated Henry rather unfairly.
3. Alex frowning at Henry talking and laughing with the little girl in the hospital bed. He's seeing Henry through a new lens and realises this picture doesn’t fit with a lot of his previous assumptions.
4. Alex shaking his head at Henry's joking attempt to decline an invite to his NYE party that most people would kill to get. "That's perfect, you kill me and then I won't have to go." It's the first time Henry uses his sharp wit to share a joke with Alex, rather than directing it at him in a fit of pique. It's an olive branch and I don't think Alex was expecting such easy forgiveness.
5. The sublime series of text based interactions where Alex is surprised and charmed by Henry flirting (under the guise of gentle ridicule).
6. The iconic "I can't believe how wrong I was about you," while he and Henry are as close as two people can get.
7. My all time favourite: Alex's reaction to Henry pointing out the yellow roses on his tie. Henry employs this in a sweet distraction during a moment of all encompassing anxiety for Alex. It's enough to bring Alex out of his fog, to realise how much strength he draws just from Henry being there to support him. The way Taylor says "Oh my god. I'm so grateful you are here," is perfection.
I'm a gooey mess thinking about all the future moments where Alex is surprised and overwhelmed by Henry's kindess.
[Sobs]
On a related note @mulderscully has a great post titled: Alex's headshake of Love™, which captures several of these moments, and more, in perfect gif form.

What's wrong with me?
Jungkook couldn't stand hearing that question. He couldn't stand seeing you cry, and he absolutely couldn't stand the people you lived with.
He refused to call them your family. No one who made you feel so down about yourself deserved to hold such a title. After he beat the shit out of your brother, he wasn't welcome in your house anymore and he had zero regrets. The next night, it took him all of twenty minutes to arrive at your place, stuff your bags into the trunk of his car and take you to his house.
It took all of his self control, however, not to sneak back into your neighborhood and slit the fucker's throat. Mostly because he had more important things to take care of, like helping you settle in. But if there was anything Jungkook has learned over the years, it was that there was no need to hurry when it came to making someone suffer. He knew how to hold a grudge. There was not an ounce of space for forgiveness in his heart for anyone who tore at your self esteem. No willingness to find it either.
By now, he didn't even need to hear you ask the question out loud. One look into your eyes and he knew what you were thinking. One look was enough to make him forget about everything that existed around him; the only thing that felt real and that mattered was you. Your warmth under his fingertips, so solid. The rest was smoke.
"Baby," he whispered into your ear, his hands running over your waist slowly as you sat in his lap. "Look at me."
You lifted your eyes to his, met with a soft smile.
"Nothing," he said.
You blinked at him, so adorably confused.
"What?"
"The answer is nothing," he clarified. "There's nothing wrong with you."
"Oh."
You immediately tried to avoid his gaze, but he wouldn't let you, not now, not ever. Not until his words were burned into your mind, covering all the other scars there.
His big hand cupped your cheek, tilting your chin up.
"Do you trust me?"
You fiddled with the fabric of his shirt, trying to find the right words.
"I- I do. I just wish I was more-"
"Don't say it," he warned. "I mean it, baby."
He hated the word normal. Absolutely abhorred it. His jaw twitched, his thumbs stroking both of your cheeks. Why did you have to grow up surrounded by people who littered in your lake, throwing all of their ugly thoughts, ignorance and hatred into its clear waters? Muddling your reflection so much that when you peeked into it you appeared small and distorted, like a dead, crumbling star, when in reality you were so bright and expansive; an entire universe of wonders. How were you supposed to see it in all the pollution? Some you even caused yourself, because they made you want to erase your image from the rippling surface altogether.
He didn't care how dirty that lake was. He was ready to dive in and suffocate to help you clean it out.
"Color?" He murmured, the tip of his nose pressing against yours.
Your eyes fluttered shut. Even though you weren't sure what he needed the confirmation for, you still answered quietly.
"Green."
Jungkook's mouth parted softly next to yours, his breath hot and minty on your skin.
"Then let go," he whispered. "Let daddy take care of you."
Let daddy take care of you. The one sentence that always made your shoulders relax, seeming to melt all your worries away. His tongue swiped across your bottom lip, warm and wet, teasing, inviting. He pulled you closer to him, already lost in your galaxies, and more than happy to turn to ashes among them.
He heard somewhere that bones were made of stardust. Yours and his must have been from the same star, longing to be reunited, moulded together for all eternity. He kissed you hard, his hands slipping under your shirt to skim your breasts, feel your nipples harden in response to the touch. His cock stirred and twitched at the feeling of your skin, his lungs constricted.
"I am going to fuck all of this doubt out of you, baby," he breathed, tightening his hand on your breast to fondle it. "I'm gonna fuck you so hard you'll only know whatever I say, no other thoughts."
He lowered your panties with one hand, the movement clumsy and hurried.
"Like how much I love you," he grunted, lowering his lips to your neck. "How pretty you are. How amazing."
He twisted your nipple, teeth grazing your throat, a groan fleeing his lips when you sneaked your hand into his pants to palm him.
"Shit, what did daddy say about being a little minx, huh?"
You breathed out a whine, tilting your head back to allow him to press wetter kisses into your neck.
"But I need you, daddy."
Jungkook could feel his eyes rolling back. The sounds you made, the begging, the way you stroked his cock - it was too much. He hissed, his hips rolling forward unconsciously, seeking more, always needing more.
"Are you wet for me, baby? Already soaked your little panties?"
You moaned shamelessly, nodding against his lips. The sound was drowned out by Jungkook's groan, louder, longer.
"So fucking hot."
He let you pull his pants down his thick thighs, just enough to free his cock. It throbbed in your hand, leaking with the need for more friction, for a connection that would leave him buried so deep inside you there would be no space for anything else ever again. Not for doubt, not for fear or pain. Just him.
"Baby," he detached his lips from yours only to whisper these words. "Need to fuck you."
You moaned softly, your arms wrapping around his neck, hips lifting off his lap. His breath hitched when you lowered them again, agonizingly slowly, wet heat coming into contact with the aching tip of his big cock.
"Yeah, good girl. Ride me, baby."
You whined into his neck, sinking down softly to get used to the stretch, gripping him so tightly he couldn't help the stutter of his hips, the veins in his neck prominent with the effort of trying to not fuck into you.
When the skin of your thighs met his, your slick dripping onto him, he moaned into your hair and gripped it in one hand, keeping the other under your shirt.
Up. Then down. These were his favorite sounds; the wet, desperate slapping of your bodies, you falling apart around him like there was no tomorrow, lost in bliss. He let you roll your hips and set your own pace, experiment, torture his poor, damned soul in all the sweetest ways you wished.
But the heat in his body was becoming feverish, the need to take over and take care of you overshadowing reason. The need to pound into you and make your legs shake, hear you scream his name.
Licking his lips, he slid both hands down to your waist, soft to the touch, his hold on you secure and strong as he flipped you onto the mattress. You gasped, fingertips digging into the nape of his neck.
For a moment, he remained still, his eyes locked on yours. Could you learn to see your reflection in them instead?
He buried his face in the crook of your neck.
"I can't do this by myself, baby, I won't," he whispered. "Daddy needs you. Needs you to work with him on this."
Your thighs trembled around him. He looked up at you, dark gaze full of love.
"Promise me, baby."
You hesitated for a moment, then nodded slightly. That was progress. Jungkook grabbed a hold of your neck, gently at first, making your lips part.
"You're a good girl who doesn't break promises, aren't you, sweetheart?"
You nodded again, your pussy clenching around him. He groaned, pulling out of the sticky heat only to plunge back in roughly, setting a pace so different to yours. The headboard banged against the wall, but Jungkook didn't give a shit. He wanted to come so bad, wanted to take you there with him.
"Fuuuck, fuck," his moans turned raspier, higher, his balls aching with each thrust. "Good girl, is this what you needed? Daddy's love? Daddy's big cock in that tight, pretty cunt?"
"Y-yeah," you stuttered out a whine, sharp nails dragging down the flexing muscles of his back. "Please daddy, please-!"
Jungkook choked you harder, shaking you a little.
"Are you gonna start listening to daddy? Huh? You gonna stop saying all that shit about yourself that makes my heart hurt? Are you gonna let me fucking love you?"
You let out a sob into his neck. He wasn't sure whether it was because of what he said or because of how needy you were, knowing that coming without his permission in this case would do nothing but land you in a whole pile of trouble.
"Color, s-shit, baby, what's your color-"
"Green!" You moaned. "Please. Please, daddy."
Jungkook shuddered, fucking you faster, meaner, punishing you with all the strength he had. You'd be bruised tomorrow, but the way you chanted his name clouded his mind, made his cock throb inside you.
"Answer me first, baby, do you want me to fucking spank you? Answer me."
You clenched around him again. He hissed, satisfaction washing over him when your back arched, words spilling out of your pretty mouth brokenly.
"Yes, I promise! I promise, d-daddy, ohh-"
"That's my good girl," he groaned. "So tight, oh god. Fuck. Come for me, yeah? Come on. Cream daddy's cock, baby. You want me to come inside you, don't you?"
That was enough to make you tense beneath him, his lips quick to capture yours and control at least some of the volume your cries carried throughout the room. Jungkook continued fucking you, his cock pulsing, filling you up with hot, thick strings of cum. He broke the kiss only when his own self control slipped completely, breathy yeahs let out into your neck.
Praises fell from his mouth in whispers when he limped against you, as natural and unconscious as every breath he took. Good girl, so beautiful, feels so good, I love you so much.
He lifted himself up to kiss you, hazy and sated, but the faint smile he noticed on your face made him pause. It looked relaxed. Genuine. Warm.
It made his heart feel like it was no longer attached to his body, but floating, entwined with yours, cells grown into each other, atoms connecting. He smiled back, his thumb brushing over your lower lip.
Maybe you could learn to see yourself in his eyes. At least until your lake was clean again.

You know, I've been scrolling through the tags, and I've seen some posts arguing either that Colin never loved Marina or that he did love her and anyone who thinks other ways is being being misogynistic or racist.
And I will say that I agree that we can't overlook the mysogynoir I also think that many people are missing the big picture here: that Colin hasn't been in love at all based on the shows definition of love.
Okay like here me out before everyone jumps down my throat.
I will concede that love is complex. It comes in many forms. While I have never experiences puppy love I don't want to devalue the experience of others who have.
What I am trying to say is that based on how the show defines love in each of its stories. He just hasn't been mature enough to be in love.
Violet tells Daphne that the best match/choice is your best friend. Though each story takes on a different troupe (fake relationship and enemies to lovers) the heart of it is the same. Love is wanting someone who is your friend. Someone who you know well and can share parts of yourself that you don't share with anyone else. Someone who challenges you to grow and you you are willing to be open minded for. Someone you want to stick with even when life is tough. Passion and all that is part of yeah but essentially that is the gist from the main show and Queen Charlotte.
While I personally do think Colin has affection for both Marina and Pen and he knows and liked the idea of love, but He just isn't mature enough to love anyone in that way yet.
He could never have been Marina's best friend not because of the lies but because he hadnt really tried to be. He never seem to actually get to know her. He liked dancing with her and spending time with her but, and forgive me if I'm wrong since it has been a while since I watched it last but Colin didn't seem to ask her her much past the superficial or the rescue attempts.
He had the whole willingness to stick it out with her. And he definitely had the feelings. I don't think its fair to downplay that Colin felt genuine care and infatuation. Maybe it was based on a fantasy more than the reality, but those are still valid feelings.
I do think Colin definitely could have grown to love Marina because if they had gotten married they would have eventually grown to be each other's friends since he cared for her and would be more than eilling to make it work, but that also would depend on whether Marina ever let down her guard and stopped playing the part of wanting to be with him for security reasons (Which I don't think is a crime worth all the hate it gets her).
By the same token, he isn't in love with pen. Again there is genuine care. And Pen for sure loves him. He is one of her best friends, she would do anything for him. She wants to protect him and she sees him in a way no one else does.
Obviously while Colin also matches some of that, he isn't there yet. He cares for Pen, he sees a part of her that no one else does, and he's her friend. But he doesn't actually see all of her yet. And I'm not just taking about the LW thing. But everything that goes with it. She isn't a damsel that needs rescuing or a puppy to coddle. She is capable witty and talented.
He definitely sees some of it, but not enough.
Now again if we are going to talk about the complexities of love and validation of experiences.
Then yes Colin loved Marina and he loves Penelope. Just like Anthony loved Sienna and loves Kate.
Love isn't just one thing or another, and it isn't always equally reciprocated.
But I feel that in the context of the shows idea and presentation of love, Colin has not loved anyone truly and probably won't love Pen right away either because he just hasn't matured enough yet to get it.
I don't think this is a particularly new or insightful thought but hadn't seen yet while i was scrolling.
Also yall who are out here waiting for Marina to die....what the heck. I am someone who likes Phillip x Eloise's story, though I think a lot of that would have to be revamped for the show Eloise if they were going to do it.
I honestly would think that they will move on to Benedict before Eloise. That aside I'm not like out here counting down the moments and anticipating the death of a character...
Jeez. Yall out here posting crap that makes me like not want to admit I liked eloise's book.
But
Tumblr media
Liking Phillipe x Eloise is not equal to wanting Marina dead ASAP.
I feel like I shouldn't have to say that but apparently it needs to be said.
That's pretty disgusting, y'all, especially knowing how poorly Ruby Barker has been treated.
Now I know you can feel away about a character and not an actor, but I don't think giving the trolls validation is a good thing.

Xehanort and Friendship
I’m such a big fan of the concept that Xehanort and explicitly Terranort do think that his friends are his power. But more specifically him abusing his friends is what gives him power.
Because when you look throughout Xehanort’s story and how far he’s gotten you see how his power is built by taking the good will, love, and acceptance that others have given him and using it for the power of evil. It’s not that he doesn’t use the power of friendship. He just doesn’t give his ”admirers” (and those that worship him out of fear) much in return.
His friend’s being his power is why he consistently is seen rubbing shoulders with others. Why he calls the organization his “Friends”, why he choses to hunt those who he has connected with in the past. He didn’t kill, maim, and later puppet around random “Nobodies” (unintended pun). He chose to hunt for people he knew intimately for years. The people he had known since he was a baby(Ventus, Marluxia, Larxene), the children he saw grow up (Riku, Ienzo), he didn’t just chose the guys next door. He chose people that cared for him too much to hurt him at first. He chose those whose hearts he could see into.
Xehanort’s dynamic with Eraqus in BBS (and the 23 year old timeskip in DR) and Terranort’s speech in KH3 was so important to his character. In KH3 quite literally says, “The chains of your friendship is what binds you” while using chains to bash them into the floor in the KH3 climax. He knows that they care too much to hurt him when he’s in BBS and Terranort. His ability to hurt them is because of how close he is to them.
In BBS, Eraqus is hopeful that he can “fix Xehanort” but Xehanort’s aware that Eraqus is attempting to do so. He completely takes advantage of Eraqus’ willingness to accept Xehanort. Eraqus’ hope for better, his savior complex is a part of his plan. I could go on for hours about how Eraqus’ savior complex and self-confidence that he will essentially talk-no-jutsu Xehanort out of his issues is how Xehanort and Eraqus end up where they are in BBS. Eraqus thinks that he can just hug the problems out of Xehanort. In fact, Xehanort barely hides his evils for a second around Eraqus, and yet Eraqus still forgives him unflinchingly. He has literally admitted to great villainy while Eraqus makes googly eyes at him at age 82! That’s some commitment to the “I can fix him” ideology.
This issue is brought to light even further in DR where Xehanort and Eraqus fight over Vor thinking about leaving the group. Eraqus tells Vor that it’s best that friends remain friends forever, while Xehanort mocks this idea wholesale and verbally tells Vor to ignore him and leave. Here, Xehanort questions the idea if being close with Eraqus is as “good” as a deal as he advertises. Eraqus sees himself and friendship as a whole, as a permanent and neverending good. Something that can fix every issue, heal all wounds. And Xehanort disagrees, seeing friendship as something that changes, and also something that can be unhealthy. He sees a neverending friendship with Eraqus as a trap, even when he is currently friends with Eraqus. When Eraqus  pitches a fit over Vor drifting away as a friend, Xehanort gets very snippy, and equates being his friend as a type of imprisonment of sorts. He confronts the idea that Eraqus’ savior complex in it’s early stages is an ends up controlling and trapping his friends. (This later becomes deeply hypocritical as Xehanort quickly veers into literally turning his friends into meat puppets... but ya know). But this is where Xehanort’s opinions of friendship being a tool rather than being an emotional relationship becomes apparent.
(Don’t get me started on how the MoM quite literally talks to Xehanort about how people can love you as a type of darkness to cast doubt on Eraqus’ relationship with Xehanort, while also forshadowing Xehanort manipulating Eraqus in return. The MoM names things like jealousy, possessiveness, and attachment issues, as things that are soon to follow in their friendship.).
Xehanort, especially since his powers hinge on other’s hearts, sees love and friendship as transactional. It’s all about what he can get out of it. Sora is using the power of friendship, Xehanort is abusing it. He’s aware that these people would kill for him, die for him, even become him. He simply doesn’t care. Xehanort is very convinced of the power of friendship. He’s just selfish and knows that people can give him power, and he can give nothing in return. That’s a huge part of his martyr/God complex mess he has going on.
He is quite literally the: “I would die for you,” “You will” interaction personified.

What Kyson Likes about Each Of His Boys~
Just a little fun thing I decided to do after thinking about it.
David ❤️
Tumblr media
Oh boy, did they have a rough start. Kyson wasn’t a very big fan of David’s manipulative attitude. Which is why he much perfers his “true persona.” David may be harsh, but his care and protectiveness for his coven something that Kyson admires greatly. He may be awkward with affection, but his actions speak louder than words. Which makes it no surprise that their relationship was mainly built off of small gestures and sweet actions rather than words. Like offering his cloak when Kyson is cold or gently holding his hand to help him calm down when he’s stressed. Kyson things his eyes are much prettier when their soft.
Dwayne 💙
Tumblr media
Dwyane. Dark, mysterious, what a heart throb. Finding out he was secretly a sweetheart surprised Kyson, honestly. But it’s why he loves him so. Dwayne’s caring nature had our wolf boy falling hard. His willingness to lend a helping hand and his gentleness with children is what made it more easy to open up to him. Dwayne is the one who will listen when he needs to vent, just staying silent and running his back. It’s a bonus that he’s the strongest too, so Kyson doesn’t have to worry about getting too rough if he wants a playful spar.
Paul 💜
Tumblr media
Their relationship unfortunately got to a shaky start, since Paul was ultimately the one who ended up killing his friend. It took Kyson awhile to fully forgive him, but seeing Paul’s remorsefulness did help. It opened his heart to playful nature. Our pretty boys sweet way with words was what ultimately got Kyson swooning. Compliments, reassurance, little words of affirmation. His smile was just the cherry on top. Paul’s smile makes Kyson get the warm and fuzzies. It also helps that he’s the most open with his affections. They’ll often be holding hands while walking along the boardwalk.
Marko 🧡
Tumblr media
Fun boy Marko. Brave, adventurous, snarky. His thrill seeking nature drew Kyson in like a fish on a hook. However, it was the blonde’s ability to make him laugh that what was had him falling head over heels. His confidence and ability to make jokes out of everything, while annoying at times, amuses Kyson. Marko keeps him on his toes, always having some suprise up his sleeve that he knows his wolfy boyfriend will love. Marko is a gifter, definitely. Whatever his partner wants, they will get. No matter what. His thrill seeking nature pushes Kyson’s comfort zones, and more often then not, he’ll have had a good time. Whenever Kyson see’s Marko, he’ll just start smiling. His presence is so infectious to him. His little gremlin, his little cuddlebug.

we are all lovey dovey here but in a serious note what toxic things do you think reijean has in their relationship
Tumblr media
I think someone sent me a similar question a few months back, and my response is probably going to be more or less the same: I really struggle to see Reijean as a toxic couple. They're, in fact, the opposite of toxic. When we look at their relationship, we of course have to acknowledge all the bad things that happened between them, but at the same time we also have to remember what is the point of their story.
Jean forgives Reiner for everything. He accepts Reiner for who he is. He isn't harboring any ill feelings towards him, and that behavior isn't only just for show. He really means it when he calls Reiner "one of them". As for Reiner, he acknowledges and accepts the forgiveness he considered himself unworthy of. They become friends again.
Their relationship is all about second chances and new beginnings.
Arguing is of course a big part of Jean's love language, so I imagine they fight quite often but never with the intention to truly hurt one another. They've both been hurt enough already. They're healing together now. And even if they disagree or get jealous or snarky, and even if Reiner sometimes bottles up his emotions and Jean yells too much... It's normal. That's how life works.
Now, I of course love the idea of dark!Reiner and dark!Jean, so I wouldn't be myself if I refused to look into a scenario where things go a little askew, hehe. So, as for Reiner: he can be very manipulative when he puts his mind to it. He's good at using people, and pushing towards whatever goal he has set for himself. Jean, on the other hand, easily gives in to the influence of others. He's also very loyal and protective, especially when it comes to Reiner – a combination that can lead to obsession.
The idea of Reijean being an obsessive couple is cool; love to the point of no return, jealousy, willingness to kill for one another, possessiveness and complete codependency... They could be lions in a world of lambs.
The idea of Reiner using Jean's good heart to his own benefit is great as well. Let's say the Scouts capture Braun during the Raid on Liberio. Let's say they want to interrogate and torture him. Who is the first to protest? The same person who intervened and saved his life in Shiganshina, of course. Reiner can smell Jean's fear, can see how distraught he is; Jean wears his heart on his sleeve, after all. It's not that hard to read him. It would be stupid of Reiner not to use him.
But what if this kind of behavior gets Jean into trouble this time? What if there are consequences? And what if Reiner suddenly feels the need to protect him, too? Maybe he just wants to pay off his debt. Maybe he just needs a friend, someone in his corner. Or maybe he already considers Jean his. Either way, they could set the world on fire together.
And if you ask me? Good for them. 😈😈

I can't believe I'm doing this after so long. It has been almost a year since I've even written anything, and it's hard to believe that I'm actually getting to share something with you all again. I'm in a really good place right now after having way too many dark days this past month, so I'm going to try to ride this high into something good.
I won't share too many details about this fic yet because I don't want to give away what I'm working on, but here's the beginning of something that will hopefully be coming in the near future:
(Simon's pov)
Have you ever been in love with someone you can’t have? Like, I mean /really/ can’t have. They’re so off-limits that they might as well not even be on the same planet as you. And it’s not even because they hate you. Or because you were sworn enemies back in school. No, those things you can move past. Those things you can change with a conversation or two, or okay, maybe a thousand. Anyway, those things can change with time and a willingness to do so.
This can’t be fixed, though. Nothing I say will ever be able to change this. I didn’t think I still had feelings for this guy; I haven’t even seen him in ages.
But when I found out about his impending marriage, I realized just how wrong I was. I can’t stop a marriage. That’s a line you don’t cross. No matter how I felt about this guy, I couldn’t mess with that. I couldn’t ruin someone else’s happiness just to get my own. I would never forgive myself for that. It wouldn’t be right, and I could never live with the guilt.
So when Penny dropped the crinkled newspaper in front of me, folded back to the announcements page, I tried to find it in me to be happy for him despite the fact that my heart dropped to the floor.
Okay, now for tags. I'm not sure who to tag because it's been so long, but I'd love to see what everyone is working on now! @aristocratic-otter @aroace-genderfluid-sheep @ivelovedhimthroughworse @ionlydrinkhotwater @cutestkilla @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @palimpsessed @dragoneggos @jasonfunderberkerthefrogexists @larkral @moodandmist @iamamythologicalcreature
A big thank you to those of you who have been tagging me despite my absence <3

hi han <3
for the character ask game, eddie + 2, 3, and 24!
Hi Amanda <3
2. Favorite canon thing about this character? God I love so many things about Eddie, but if I had to pick just one I think it would be how big his heart is. I feel like that's something that gets a little overlooked in the fandom, but I love it.
He loves so big, from the way he loves Christopher and the way you can just feel it coming through the screen when he's with Chris to the way he loves the firefam (him telling Chim the 118 is the family they chose is such a perfect moment and he says it because it's true and because Chim needed to hear it and Eddie knew that because the loves the guy and knows him well).
I love how much he loved Shannon, even when they weren't understanding each other, and how he still loves her and probably always will but he's letting himself be happy now.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character? Sometimes I hate how easily Eddie forgives the people he loves (mostly his parents because I hate Helena Diaz the way most people in the 911 fandom hate the Buckleys), but Eddie's willingness to forgive is also one of my favourite things about him because it ties back to how much he loves the people in his life.
24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them? Hmmm this is hard. Kind of Derek Hale for no reason other than before I got into 911 I would occasionally see Buddie on my dash and Eddie was almost always portrayed as the broody one and that reminded me of how Derek was always portrayed that way.

I’m sure plenty of people have thought about it but I haven’t seen anyone dissect it so let’s talk about
Soren and Claudia as a reflection of Zuko and Azula
Obviously there’s the whole “kids of the big bad, son gets redeemed, daughter falls further into evil” thing but you can go so much deeper with it.
The Azula/Claudia parallels are pretty overt: villain’s prodigy daughter bases her whole identity around being good at what her father wanted her to be and becomes so desperate for approval she becomes functionally irredeemable (withholding the acknowledgment that she is a victim of manipulation and emotional abuse).
But we get to see in tdp what we never got in atla: the fall.
Azula was conniving and ready to do anything for her father’s approval long before we met her, and similar is true for Claudia, but we get to see a window into who Claudia could have been. We see her have friends and passions and interests and doubts. We see her looking for the best in people and believing what she’s doing is right. We see Claudia wrestle with the morality of her actions. We see her crossing the line and knowing it. We see her losing herself in desperation to get back a life long gone. We see her acknowledge that she has done unforgivable things and hating herself for her willingness to do them.
Claudia is Azula’s arc in reverse. Instead of getting this terrifying, perfect warrior fall apart at the seams when losing control, we get a girl who knows there is a line treading closer and closer until she’s crossed it so many times she doesn’t bother going back any more. We watch Azula’s prefect image fracture and break, we see Claudia collecting her broken pieces, reconstructing herself into something unrecognizable. We watch Azula’s fall from grace, we see Claudia’s rise to power.
Soren and Zuko’s parallels are almost more interesting to me, because they’re a bit more subtle. They are not each other, you could not slot them into each other’s stories like you could with their sisters. They are distinct but that’s what makes them such interesting foils.
Zuko’s arc is of him breaking out of who he was “supposed” to be and finding who he wants to be. Soren’s isn’t. He’s an adult, he’s already decided magic wasn’t for him. He knew he didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps, but he still wanted to make him proud. Soren is a warrior but he doesn’t try to be anyone he’s not, he’s a fierce fighter but he’s also an absolute goofball. He’s not the smartest, but he enjoys exploring new ideas and he wants to make people happy, he knows who he is. Zuko, however, is heartbreakingly clueless to what kind of person he is outside of his father’s orders.
Soren has a more defined personality from the get-go, but Zuko has to figure himself out on how own starting halfway through the series. Zuko’s life had been governed by a desperation to earn his father’s love and years of rage, he never got the chance to explore himself beyond this until season three. Soren, on the other hand, knows himself, but has his identity challenged and chipped away at. He is a crown guard, a protector, but he finds himself causing more harm than good. He’s loyal, he wants to fight to make the world a better place, but when he becomes paralyzed he knows that this is better — that he doesn’t want to hurt anyone and that he doesn’t trust his orders to not lead him astray. He wants to do the right thing and make people happy, but standing up for what’s right breaks his sister’s heart and pushes her over the edge. He is determined to help make a better future, one of peace and forgiveness, but that means protecting the king, even against his own father. Soren believes goodwill and faith are the key to a better world, but he can no longer trust Claudia, his sister and closest friend. He believes in letting go of the hurt of the past, but he’s mourned his father twice and he’s still alive.
Soren is a good man who wants to do the right thing, but every step of the way is a personal challenge. While Zuko is struggling to find himself and who he wants to become, Soren is fighting not to lose the best parts of himself when his identity is constantly being challenged.
Zuko’s banishment is a key part of his story, he was thrown out, forcefully separated from his family and forced to find himself on his own while his father’s shadow loomed over him. Soren, however, had been his father’s right hand in a way. He was right there, watching his father and sister slip further and further into dark magic that gradually eclipsed who they once were. He was by Claudia’s side as she did increasingly horrible things to satisfy their father, he watched as she slowly became someone he didn’t recognize anymore. Soren himself was ordered to kill for his father and almost went through with it. Zuko was never asked to do anything like that, probably because Ozai didn’t think Zuko would be willing or able to go through with it, but Viren believed in Soren. He wanted his son by his side, and for most of his life that’s what Soren wanted, too. Viren’s a messed up dude but, in his own messed up ways, he did care for Soren.
That’s part of what makes these families such good foils: that there was love there. Viren loves his kids in a possessive and controlling way, but he does want them safe and close; Ozai only ever wanted his kids to be useful. Claudia loved her brother, and Soren continues to love her.
Zuko and Azula have resented each other for most of their lives. There is sadness there, a sense of loss of what they could’ve had, but they never got to have a proper relationship. We get to watch Claudia and Soren fall apart, while we only ever got to see Zuko and Azula hate and pity each other. That is what hurts.
Look at their goodbye in season three, look at their reunion in season four, look at how they care for each other and how terrified they are of what’s happening before them. Now imagine Zuko and Azula in their place.
That is how you do good foils.

background
Georgette, affectionately nicknamed Georgie, came into the world on Valentine's Day—the youngest of three children born to the Hicks family. As the youngest, she grew up being the baby of the lot and received a lot of attention as a result of it, but rather than becoming someone who thrived on being in the spotlight, that only seemed to make her more attentive to others. On the outside, she seemed like the polar opposite of her sister. Where Satine was fiery and argumentative, she was sweet and accommodating; where her sister used gentle bullying as a love language, she was sensitive to teasing; and where the elder Hicks was practical and logical, she often found herself getting lost in daydreams. However, in spite of their superficial differences, the two have always complemented each other well and remain extremely close into adulthood.
True to the day she was born, Georgie grew up in love with love—a hopeless romantic with a big heart, too much trust in others, and an almost self-destructive willingness to forgive. Because of that, she had her heart broken several times in her teens, and even though she forced herself to bounce back each time, little by little, she felt pieces of her faith chip off. Every time she got hurt, she believed a little less, and a little less, until she was nineteen and met someone who made her want to believe again.
He was sentimental. He gave her flowers. He wrote poetry. And then, three years into their relationship when the honeymoon period was over, when they had chosen to move in with each other and settled into a routine together, he cheated on her.
Now withdrawn and extremely afraid of getting hurt again, Georgie is a shadow of her former self—almost entirely unrecognisable from the naive, optimistic girl who could find a silver lining in everything, even in the paradox. She misses who she used to be, but she doesn't know how to find her way back to that person, not when she's stuck in a town that's filled with bad memories—not to mention the very people who hurt her. She longs for a life outside Huntsville, thinking that if she could only get out of here, if she could start over somewhere else, she might find that spark inside her again.
misc
Growing up, she was a scout and then a Junior Ranger.

How did Doffy feel when Rosi first came back?
too much. that's the short answer, just... way too much.
at least twelve different emotions: surprise, confusion, denial, disgust, anger, hatred, pain, grief, anxiety, relief, joy, and love (both in an instinctual "brotherly bond" sense & doflamingo's perception of what 'love' is). not necessarily in that order and not necessarily all at once, but it basically fucked him up for a couple of hours/days.
-
a lot of those emotions have to do with what doflamingo had basically gaslit himself into believing for those fourteen years: "rosinante didn't run away from meーhe got lost & died somewhere." that was the only logical explanation, to him.
the idea fit his perception of rosinante being weak & unable to survive on his own, but also... who would ever want to leave doflamingo? especially not the little brother who loved him, who he suffered with, & (most likely) helped take care of directly after their mother died because there's no way he was letting a "weak man" like their father "contaminate" rosinante with needless weakness any further than he had been. and doflamingo protected him! he protected him by killing their father who caused them to suffer, and tried to get them a path back home to mary geoise! rosi just got a little scared seeing the headless body, ran into the woods, and lost his way back, that's it. there's no way rosi would abandoned him, right? he was a great brother! he didn't do anything wrong!
(it's the same reason why doflamingo could not fathom why law was rebelling against him. doflamingo expected law to either no come back at all because he was dead, or with full adoration & willingness to serve because who wouldn't want to serve him?)
-
but now rosinante wasn't dead, after all, & suddenly that lie doflamingo told himself all these years to protect his own ego was wrong.
depending on what story rosinante gives him, his emotions would probably fluctuate a little or a lot between all of the ones i just describedーbut there would be a central takeaway: "so, you did leave me behind, after all." and that alone would make him seethe with bitterness, either quietly to himself, or screaming it directly in his face.
doflamingo is possessive. you don't leave doflamingo without his say so. he basically cuffed law to the heart seat in his palace as if to say "if you're not going to stay with me on your own, i'll fucking make you." i have absolutely no doubt doflamingo was bitter as hell rosinante left him by choice, no matter what his cover story is.
-
but, at the end of the dayーrosinante did come back. he came back to him, right where he was always meant to be, and that alone would be enough to satiate doflamingo's ego for a while, accept his baby brother & fellow god back into the fold, and 'forgive' him for his transgression.
at least on a surface level. but, deep down, doflamingo is a spiteful, nasty little man. his ego isn't going to allow him to let that go. rosinante is going to have to do something big to truly earn forgiveness (which may or may not involve a certain fruit...)

almost had a heart attack because i saw FaT is now by orphan_account !!
i just started reading it so thank you for not completely deleting, i do intend to continue what has been written. but whatever reason you may have had, i completely respect it and appreciate your willingness to orphan rather than delete. i hope you wont be leaving townsville all together though. your writing is phenomenal, i cant believe im just discovering your work now. i wanted to know if you have plans to continue your other fics.
and more importantly, i wanted to ask how YOU are doing. such a huge decision made me wonder if you were doing well. i truly hope all is good. lots of love 🤍
hi dearie!! first of all i should let you know how this message warmed my heart, thank you for your kind words♡
i've wanted to address orphaning FaT since i did it, but never seemed to find the strength to do it, nor the words to express why i did it/how i feel about it. now seems to be the perfect time.
there are many reasons why i orphaned the fic, most of which i'm not fully comfortable sharing online. however, i feel like a proper explanation is overdue.
you may have noticed the updates since i started writing and posting it are scarce and far-inbetween. outside of my fandom life, many things have happened and affected both my mental and physical health.
i'm sad to admit that this fanfic has gone from being an outlet and a great help to my offline stress, to becoming associated with that stress. loss of inspiration was a major factor - i began feeling like i've written myself into a wall, and writing it had begun to feel like a chore. most days i was lucky to add even a sentence to another chapter. writing it used to be fun.
another factor was the amount of research i did for it. the topics i decided to cover within the fanfic back when i started it are heavy and deserve detailed research and proper representation (neither of which i ever felt were enough in my work). though i don't think i explicitly misrepresented those topics (keyword: think - i was and still am very open to criticism), i put a big amount of weight on myself in trying to be accurate and inoffensive. i'm not saying it’s difficult to be inoffensive, i'm saying i felt inadequate to write about the issues i've never personally experienced in fanfic form, no matter how much research i did. and there is nothing wrong with writing outside of your experience. what is wrong is the amount of stress (and somewhat subconscious guilt) i put on myself in order to satisfy my overwhelming perfectionism.
in truth, part of me wanted to orphan (or sometimes, even delete) FaT for a long while, i just thought i would have finished the project by then and let it go upon completion. now that i did it, i'm slowly feeling the pressure i put on myself dissipate. i did it what i had to do for myself, albeit with a heavy heart.
i don't think i will ever return to FaT, but i can assure you i'm not leaving Townsville. the PPG fandom, the entire community, has been nothing but wonderful the whole time i've spent here, and i wouldn't let it go for the world. i just hope you can forgive me for abandoning this massive project, and embrace the other fics i am working on.
as for how i'm doing, things are looking up. having given up on continuing FaT, i've dedicated myself to The Princess and the Pirate, which brings me much more joy in being creative and writing what i've always loved - fantasy. other than that, i've made some awesome new friends, and enthusiastically entered my 3rd year of college.
thank you for your kindness and support ♡ i hope you enjoy what's left of FaT, as well as other fics of mine and of my lovely fandom friends'.
