Август, любовь моя, ты всегда начинаешься ��а несколько вдо��ов раньше, чем я могу вынести. Вот с этими своими маленькими сладкими яблоками, цветущей полынью и крапивой, необходимостью теплого одеяла на ночь и на две ложки сахара больше, чем ни одной.
Люди достают свитера и всё чаще молчат, пересыпая солью воспоминания, чтоб не гнили.
Между крупными петлями длинного вязаного кардигана ютятся остатки летних снов со спутанными концами: потянешь за один – увидишь восемь, в комнате резко запахнет корицей и коньяком. Как скол на китайской фарфоровой чашке напоминает мне о том, что совершенство невозможно без изъяна, так и первый холодный воздух, остро пахнущий мокрой корой и дымом, возвращает мне землю под ногами.
В августе хочется уходить: от людей без идей, от идей без души, мертвых встреч, в ничью закончившихся историй. «Предельная щедрость – дарить нутряное накопленное тепло, настоящая зрелость – уметь доверять, помнить, бояться; в наших краях осенью принято возвращаться, время отсутствия истекло», – каждый год в это время я вспоминаю Ксюшины строчки и смотрю на часы. Говорю себе: вот, ещё на один август старше – не страшно? – а как же! Да только кто за меня пройдёт по мосту, разведёт огонь?
Всю ночь идёт дождь, и оттого спится особенно глубоко. Я много гуляю по городу, город делает себя тише, кисло пахнет свиным навозом, сладко – растоптанной алычой. По старинке ставлю чернильные крестики на руке, копаюсь в земле, пересаживая подаренную лаванду, и в комнате ещё долго стоит её терпкий, тягучий, густой, хоть ложкой мешай, аромат.
Не надо спрашивать, если не хочется, не надо вступать в дискуссию, не надо никому ничего доказывать, не надо делать вид, что интересно, не надо инициатив. Давай лучше сходим на рынок или книжную ярмарку, позалипаем на звёзды, займёмся любовью. Давай дышать медленно. Давай никуда не спешить. Август почти закончился.
