Excerpt:

He hadn’t meant to look. Not for any extended period of time, and certainly not with the intent of satisfying his own curiosity or observing in any way without Aomine-san’s knowledge and consent, it was just… in the locker rooms it was sometimes difficult to avoid confronting such realities... noticing things…

Things like the rich, burnished tan that extended all the way down the muscular expanse of Aomine-san’s long, bare back. The flex of his broad shoulders as he shrugged out of his school uniform, the accidental glimpse of two little dimples peeking out over the waistband of his shorts that made Ryo want to just die. Just lay face down on the linoleum floor and let the evening janitorial staff dispose of his remains.

You Wanna Dance Mothafucka?

I wanna write AoKise dancing together. I wanna write an AoKise dance battle, I have a mighty need for this concept and I’m not content to wait til I finish my college AU to put it out there. I’ve gained such a new respect for Kise as a character and I’d love to give him some time to shine, with my best boy in tow of course. I’d probably go the route of an AU where they haven’t met, run into each other at a club, get way too competitive and tear it up on the dance floor, and meet up after (possibly in the restroom) to make out/fool around all flushed and sweaty it’d be pure pwp.

FTM Brazil OiHina

there aren’t enough people losing their minds over Brazil Hinata you guys. there’s also not enough people writing OiHina. there are people creating some (fantastic) FTM Hinata content, but I wanna intersect all of these things in one fic. the manga destroyed my soul I still can’t believe the Brazil arc is canon... anyway I just got an idea to do a oneshot where Oikawa finds out Hinata is trans when he sees his top surgery scars during one of their games, they have a respectful albeit humorous discussion (about high school and making assumptions and how “omg I couldn’t tell at all!” isn’t actually a compliment). somewhere along the line talking about past teams/relationships Hinata confesses to having had a crush on Oikawa, and maaaaaybe goes with him back to his hotel room instead of going home and maybe they kiss or smth, I’m still fuzzy on the details but I’d very much like to make this happen.

Golden

I’ve been toying with the idea of rewriting Girl With Golden Eyes to be more accurate and concise for awhile now... a year or two at least. only recently have I considered rehauling the story entirely (I wouldn’t scrap the original, and the new version might not even follow the same plotline... the common thread would mainly be the concept of addict Aomine)

Major changes would include:

AoKise as the main pairing (“golden” referencing his hair and eyes as well as being a euphemism for heroin, opportunity for a longer-standing established relationship, Kise’s lightheartedness contrasting the severity of the situation and eventually leading to denial/downplaying on his part)

a more gradual descent into drug abuse for Aomine; starting with alcohol, prescription pain killers and other downers before jumping into heroin, if at all

more realistic portrayals of the effects of each drug, addiction, relapse and recovery in general (I did my research for the previous fic but it’s still extremely inaccurate in many areas)

a little less melodrama overall, but no less emotional struggle and suffering this is me we’re talking about

I’d probably cut it down to about 6-8 chapters max, possibly longer installments, but with less unnecessary filler and more plot and character-driven action

some kind of overlying message with more nuance than “drugs bad”?

modern ATLA

in the middle of the Avatar renaissance I got a surge of inspiration to try my hand at a modern AU (honestly, who didn’t?) and drafted out a whole-ass outline. I’ve never written for this fandom before but I was very quickly sucked into Zukka hell and I might still give it a go if I ever get my drive back.

it’d be a high school AU, and I’d have Zuko as the super closeted, internalized-homophobia-having senior with Mai as his beard, he doesn’t have many friends, is tormented by his extremely popular but vicious in a Heathers way sister, pretends the scar that takes up a little less than half his face is just an unfortunate birthmark and his relationship with his dad is fine, and in general is in denial about everything in his life.

enter certified jock/nerd combo Sokka, who has never worn sleeves in his life, runs track, captain of the mathletes, on the chess club and the slam poetry team, he does it all. the class clown, openly bi and generally just confident in himself. he’s got a super supportive dad, a scary younger sister and some amazing friends, but an underlying layer of tragic backstory involving his mom (something he shares in common with Zuko). the rest of the gaang features and there’s shenanigans abound.

...anyway there’s no way I have the skill or the patience to pull off the 60k+ novel this concept deserves, but maybe I’ll try writing it in little segments if the fancy strikes me again.

WIP title: eagles were born to soar (technically not a WIP??? but it’s not fully uploaded yet lol) Fandom: Kuroko no Basuke Premise: Hyuuga did not come back to join basketball. Izuki stepped up to be the captain. Characters: Izuki Shun, Kuroko Tetsuya, Kagami Taiga

Excerpt: “Don’t, they deserve it,” Kagami interjects, running his fingers over the thin scar that still resides on his cheek and scowling at the floor.

“Akashi-kun cut you, didn’t he, Kagami-kun?” Kuroko asks suddenly. There’s a pit in his eyes that even Izuki is scared of - and Izuki doesn’t scare easily.

“...Yeah?”

“Right.” Kuroko cracks his wrists none too gently, and the entire team shudders. “I’ll have some words with him about that. After we win.” He looks up at Izuki, a light of expectation in his eyes. “Please hold up the fort until I can come back, senpai.”

2. whisper (OG)

WIP title: North Star Premise: Skygate City is the last haven of civilisation left, ruled by the two benevolent Arches. Mei-Lin leads a peaceful life as a college student in the City, but when a (beautiful) stranger comes quite literally crashing into her life, questions arise, almost too many to answer. Mei-Lin must now choose between everything she’s ever known and fighting for what’s right before it’s too late...

Excerpt: The flannel overshirt, though already black, was starting to darken even further—the stranger was bleeding heavily. Mei-Lin was sure that the area she’d stabbed, just above the girdle of the left hip, was non-fatal: but if left long enough, they would die. She had the fleeting thought of allowing them to do so; then the consequences (charges of manslaughter by negligence, Arren’s disappointment, where she’d hide the body) hit her.

I don’t have a choice. I’ll have to patch them up.

“Stay there,” she whispered, barely managing to pull herself into a standing position. “I’ll get you the bandages.”

14: what’s your favourite AU setting?

5: what category of fics do you read the most? (angst, fluff, etc)

i usually read, uh, whatever author’s I like are writing, which is a broad range of angst n’ fluff. I tend toward angst, only bc it offers a little more depth of character, but fluff done well always out paces angst, tbh. if i can read about the characters i like cuddling and being well-written, then that’s good for me.

7: would you rather read a plot-focused fic or pwp?

i’m going to pull back the curtain on myself and say i waaaay prefer pwp when i’m searching for fic. its not even that i’d rather read sexy stuff (altho, like, i would. i would like to read sexy stuff, thanks) but i like something that’s shorter. short stories are my favorite format, so pwp’s often adhere more to a quick, closed loop story while plot focused fic can be a larger time commitment - something i can’t really give ;___; i’m a busy person, and in between my job, my adult responsibilities, and needing to read, like, real books so I can stay motivated and skilled in my writing, its very rare that i have time to read long, plotty fics. though there’s definitely exceptions!

asdfgggdfhjkk ok here we go! prepare for Length...

Who sleeps in the middle?

Kuroko. he gets cold the easiest and likes to be smushed between his two giant bfs. he’s also often the peacekeeper stopping them from kicking each other and stealing the blankets. they both get their share of his ice cold toes and fingers that way, and he’s such a light sleeper that once they’re in that position neither of them can move for fear of waking him up, but none of them would have it any other way.

Who is the best cuddler?

Kagami. he’s like a giant snuggly teddy bear, gives the very best hugs and is always the big spoon no matter who he’s cuddling with. and he’s okay with that. in fact he loves it, whether he’s holding Kuroko or Aomine or both at once, he loves that he can just wrap around them like an octopus and make them feel safe and loved.

Who gets hurt the most?

Kuroko. Kagami might be the biggest klutz of the three but he also doesn’t bruise easily. meanwhile if Kuroko so much as stubs his toe it turns purple and he’ll be limping for a few days. he’s also the one most likely to get in trouble and get scraped up on purpose, whether he’s skinning his knees trying some new technique he’s not prepared for, or picking a fight and getting decked by someone twice his size, he’s always sporting a new bruise or band-aid and getting chastised by his overprotective bfs who are honestly just as bad... just less likely to show it.

Who acts like the baby?

Aomine. obviously. this guy is an oversized toddler in big boy clothes. he’s always pestering for attention and whines and complains when he doesn’t get his way. he’s a picky eater and can throw actual tantrums if he’s annoyed enough -- and usually the root cause is him not getting enough sleep. he’s also treated like the baby of the family, with both Kagami and Kuroko feeding him and taking care of him, but honestly, neither of them mind it much.

Who teases the others the most?

also Aomine. he’s especially prone to poking and picking at Kagami because he knows just what buttons to press and likes to get him riled up. he can’t seem to resist taunting and provoking him at any given opportunity, and he’s just as quick to tease Kuroko, when he can. the difference is rather than turning red and potentially starting a fight, Kuroko will just coolly sass him right back and move on with his day.

Who proposes?

I’m sorry but I can only see Aomine being the one to propose (or at the very least, being the first one). under the exterior, he’s a useless sappy romantic and would probably either insist on doing things proper, buying a pair of rings and getting down on one knee and all, OR randomly blurting it out during dinner with no planning or preparation or anything. either way, of course they both say yes.

Who is the most protective?

Kuroko. looks are 100% deceiving here, he’s physically the smallest but mentally and emotionally, he’s the toughest of the three and he’ll go to the ends of the earth to defend the people he loves. he would absolutely put himself in danger to protect the others and worries about both of them a lot (sometimes needlessly, but there are times they do need it). Kagami and Aomine both put up a tough act, and follow Kuroko around like his personal bodyguards, but don’t be fooled, he’s the one you need to really watch out for.

Who is the closest to the child? (Whether it be a fur baby, scale baby, or human child.)

either Aomine or Kuroko... probably both equally. they’re very emotionally-driven people who love animals of all shapes and sizes (Kagami would have some trouble if their fur baby happened to be a dog -- and considering Nigou that’s a very likely possibility). both of them would form a strong connection with any baby the group decided to have. that’s not to say Kagami wouldn’t also be close to a child or pet and love them, but he’s just a little bit more distant and guarded than the others and it would definitely take him some time.

Who gives the best advice?

Kuroko. he’s (usually) the only one with a brain cell to speak of, and has a lot of practical knowledge and common sense. he has difficulty separating his emotions from a situation to look at it objectively, so he can be a little biased with what he suggests, but it’s still good advice, just the same.

Who is like a therapist?

Kagami. unlike Kuroko, he doesn’t always know what to say or what to suggest, but he is a good listener, and easy to talk to, so he lets the others vent to him and work through their issues, and often finds himself on the receiving end of a long and cathartic story or rant from one or both of them. he’s also much better at looking at things objectively; nine times out of ten he’ll bluntly point something out that makes the others look at things from a new angle, because it’s so obvious to him as an outsider but they’re too wrapped up to see it.

Who sings B and C to sleep?

Kagami. I hc that he can sing in three different languages (English, Japanese and some Spanish), the others especially like when he sings in English, and he indulges them since he’s probably going to be up the latest anyway. sometimes Kuroko also tries his hand at a lullaby, but he doesn’t have the instant power to knock Aomine out that Kagami does.

Is the relationship healthy?

I mean... is any relationship completely, 100% healthy? as relationships go, they have a very good balance between them and there’s a mutual, three-way respect that they all maintain with each other. they’ve got problems and character flaws, of course, they’re very different people and things aren’t always going to be perfect, but they love each other and are all willing to put in the work when it comes down to it.

Do A and B have a stronger bond with each other? Or do C and B or C and A have a stronger bond? Or are A, B, and C close together [equally]?

they’re all close with each other in different ways. not necessarily equally all around, just... their individual relationships within the greater whole have different strengths and shortcomings. It breaks down something like this:

Kagami and Kuroko are probably the most stable with each other. there’s trust and affection and good communication between them, and they’re on very equal footing. the trouble is, because they usually work together so well, they’re not very good at reconciling when they don’t, and things can build up between them that they don’t acknowledge until their whole balance crumbles.

Aomine and Kagami are in tune with each other in a way that’s almost instinctive, they finish each other’s sentences and seem to always be on the same wavelength. they don’t require much from each other, and have a kind of simple ease in each other’s company, when they aren’t getting in each other’s faces. the downside is they aren’t very good at communicating, and tend to avoid difficult subjects and saying what they really mean.

Aomine and Kuroko have history, are probably the most sappy and romantic with each other, and share an almost indescribably intimate bond built up over years, but they’re also the most likely to argue (not just petty squabbling like Aomine and Kagami, or old-married-couple bickering like Kagami and Kuroko, but actually fight and hurt each other). they’re also terrible about enabling and egging each other on and probably get into the most ridiculous situations because they’re somehow the best and worst combination of personality traits at the same time.

Who can be trusted to be left home alone?

Kagami. he’s the only one. do not leave either of the others home alone they will burn the house down, either accidentally or as a result of getting bored and thinking “I wonder what happens if...” (famous last words).

Who cries the most?

Kuroko, by default. he cries about as much as any normal, healthy person would. Kagami doesn’t cry hardly ever, to the point that it’s a little concerning sometimes, and when he does it’s a Big Deal. Aomine cries every now and then, but doesn’t really feel comfortable doing it in front of other people so he’ll usually try to hide it or hold it in.

Who is the softest?

like... physically, or emotionally? you know what, Kagami for both. he’s a great big softy under the tough exterior, and even though he’s the most physically jacked, he’s got enough meat on his bones to have some nice give and be very comfy to lie on.

Who is the shortest?

Kuroko. ....we been knew.

Who is the tallest?

Aomine. again we been knew; he’ll hold that little 2cm sliver of height he’s got on Kagami over his head until the end of time.

Who likes cuddles the most?

Aomine. he will seek out cuddles every chance he gets, he flops down next to both of the others and nudges them like a cat, or just muscles his way into their space until they have to accommodate him or risk falling off the couch.

Last of all, who sings terribly in the shower?

oh dear god. you know what, I think it’d be really funny if it was Kagami. it’s boggling because he can sing perfectly well, they all know it, but for some reason when he’s alone and using the body wash as a microphone he lets loose and goes completely off-key and it’s awful. the others love it though (even if they’re confused) because it sounds like he’s having fun, at least.

The days they spent together were never dull, but it was the calm, serene evenings he most looked forward to.

When the busy sounds of the city were hushed to a soft buzz, the lights from the outside bouncing along their dimly lit room walls. The only light aside from passing cars and streetlights was their bedside table lamp, which was a dull hue of yellow that just barely stretched to light the end of their king size bed.

Kuroko was infamous for growing tired earlier than him, who was a proud night owl, but he was growing more fond of crawling under the large comforter and cotton blend sheets closer to 10pm instead of 1am. There was a warm body next to his now, and the emptiness that had once consumed him and drove him to stumble home in the wee hours of the morning had begun to die out.

Compared to his large, muscular, defined, suntanned skin, Kuroko was a gleaming ray of beautiful, smooth, pale white. A thin frame of bone and muscle, blending perfectly together. Aomine swore sometimes just the other's bare chest could light their room up in the dead of night.

On this particular night Kuroko had taken to reading a book he had found himself entranced by, and Aomine rest next to him, reading the only thing he was ever really interested in, Kuroko.

He watched the expressions change on the bluenette's face as he read through each line carefully, making sure to drink up everything given to him on those pages. Aomine barely noticed when the other put the book down for a second to flip himself to his side, wiggling his body a bit before whining.

"Aomine-kun, could you scratch this spot?"

His arm didn't bend the way he wanted it to in order for him to show the itchy spot to his lover, but with a deep roar of a laugh, Aomine stetched a large hand out.

He always kept his nails trimmed and neat, a habit he picked up when he started playing basketball.

Letting the tips of his fingers reach that silky smooth skin of Kuroko's back, he let those neat nails lightly scrape against the other, from the base of his neck all the way to the small of his back.

He did this a few times, up down, up down, until the other shuddered in delight and sighed softly in relief. It was these mundane things that kept Aomine fixated. The idea of him being needed for such a domestic task was fulfilling to him, and kept him coming back for more.

"Better?"

He hummed as he shifted so his broad chest was pressed flushed against the others slim back. He wrapped strong arms around Kuroko, keeping him close, and Kuroko reciprocated by leaning back into him.

Aomine buried his nose among the beautiful sky blue strands of Kuroko's hair, closing his eyes while breathing in the others scent of vanilla sugar shampoo. He could stay like that forever, and he was so hypnotized he didn't even hear the other speak soft words in response to his question.

"Much better."
