There's the real sense of a loss of personal power and direction brought home once more with The Devil and the reversed Ace.  Because of rash actions, and probably unwise choices, a relationship that was once flourishing is now floundering, and its future is dependent upon a very important decision... which in reality comes down to someone's "choice".

Power lost will be restored once someone realizes that the key here is not only logical decisions but healthy choices, and choices made for the right reasons.  There was action taken quickly, way too quickly, without a lot of thought.  Hindsight being what it is, someone knows they acted too rashly without thinking through the final consequences, and they regret it now.

You can fix this with the right decision.

honestly i’m not sure i think of anything i do as a hobby. the closest is probably writing but like not to be corny but writing does feel so tied to like the core way i function in a way that’s difficult to articulate that i feel weird calling it a hobby. like i think of a hobby as something you do for fun and while i would say writing is sometimes fun i would not say that’s why i do it. but tbh maybe i’m narcissistically underestimating how weird people get about model trains or whatever

My favourite way to bond with my cards is to ask them to tell me a story.

Like I ask them to tell me something, and, they tell me a few secrets.

Today, they told me this story of an Emperor and his route to a happy union with a dutiful Empress. They told me how he almost lost her by getting too lost in his thoughts and cut throat ways of achieving money; making him indifferent towards her.

They told me that he was being silly, because even if they became destitute or suffered hard times, they would still have each other. And, true abundance would knock his door when he's with her. And, it was ace of pentacles or coin. So, the abundance is literally coins 🤑. I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks she's lucky for him.

And, they showed me how they could get a happy ending. Could because, it's a choice and chance. I mean it depends on if he chooses to or succeeds in letting go of his fear and indifference. Or maybe it's other things related to the king of swords. Or maybe it's someone else's choice and influence.

But, the story ended with the ace of cups. So, maybe their real story is yet to begin.

Here’s something to keep in mind. So like the sinners take on the forms of what killed them typically, in scenarios of violent deaths, like that is displayed across both series, so like what if Adam ends up partially resembling Niffty as a result, to propose an alternate design?

that could be cool! i did include nifty's stabbing through adam in his scars, hes got scars from rib removal and nifty around his stomach!

alas, admittedly i have also grown attached to my design of sinner!adam, for atleast the story im planning to tell(and there are reasons ive designed him like that, and this answer is getting so long already i dont want to make an essay HUGFDNOIUJN), so any nifty related changes would not be anything major i dont think. Could be a fun design exercise though!

adam will be getting his... groove back? so to say? the stuff ive currently been working on ive been calling Arc 1, after which he'll get the Full Sinner!Adam Design(tm), and more of his snark back, so maybe some small nifty elements can weave their way in, who knows!

You know, when I was designing my WWDITS tarot deck, I kept thinking "no one cares about a deck design that doesn't even have art, no one just wants to read your tarot meta" but then every time I'd remember that almost every super famous deck that changed the history of tarot was actually designed by Just Some Guy who hired an artist to illustrate it for him -- and it was usually named after the designer, not the illustrator.

(To the point where I actually get angry at how many female artists who did the art for tarot decks are forgotten, and why I always call it the Rider-Waite-Smith/Rider-Smith-Waite tarot instead of the more common Rider-Waite, which refers only to the card publisher and the man who came up with the meaning, symbolism, and overall design of the card. Justice for Pamela Colman Smith, etc.)

Like... tarot really started being used for cartomancy when commonly used tarot decks (like the Tarot de Marseille) were retroactively assigned meaning by French occultists. (Who in turn said their interpretations were based on ancient Egyptian mysticism, which is very funny when you think about the fact that the Rosetta Stone hadn't been translated yet so none of them could read hieroglyphs.)

So from its infancy, there's always been a sort of separation between the art and the writings on symbolism/interpretation. Cards existed, guys wrote books about what those cards could mean. Then they started designing decks specifically for cartomancy with an even greater eye toward meaning and symbolism, and those decks are named by and/or after the people who designed that side of them, not the people who illustrated them.

So like... I may be kind of bad at art, but I am good at being Just Some Guy. (With a sort of "feral academic" flavor to it.) So I guess that actually makes me super qualified to write like 20k words of tarot symbolism and interpretation based on my favorite idiotic vampires. lmao

I'm not gonna commission any artist, though, because unlike those other guys, I was not born with a silver dick in my mouth. (Thank you, Nandor.) Instead I just bounce off the fucking walls every time a wwdits fanartist posts an illustration of one of my card interpretations. lmao

#tl;dr tarot decks used to be more academic exercises than artistic ones #and I don't necessarily think that's a BETTER model than the one we typically use now #but it does mean that there's precedent for my project lmao

i might be planning quiting writing for a while after i finish 5 request i have and yeonjun's bday event. i have 4 other works in process too but i will be writing them slowly. but i am not sure. gonna rant in the tags
