Unexpectedly Yours: Part 10
Fandom: Ted Lasso (Regency AU)
Pairing: Roy Kent x F!Reader
Summary: Lord Roy Kent still has yet to marry. He hates the notion that marriage is a way to ensure your status in society. You have delayed your debut to society for years because of the same idea. So what happens when two people who hate the idea of marriage are constantly drawn to each other?
Warning: Rupert Mannion and his grossness
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Roy is frozen, seeing his former fiancé in front of him for the first time in years.
The woman gives a shy smile, "It's-It's nice to see you. I wasn't expecting to see you here."
Roy continues to stare at the woman with a dumbfound look. You decided to step forward and curtsy, "Good evening, my lady. I'm Lady Y/N L/N."
Georgina bows, "Duchess Georgina of Cumberland."
"It's an honor to be here with you, Your Grace."
"Thank you, Lady L/N. I hope you and Lord Kent enjoy your night," the duchess picks up her dress and continues to wander the ballroom.
"Roy?" you look at the man with concern.
"I need air," he grumbles and turns on his heel, heading towards the gardens without a care of if you were following him or not.
You hurry behind your future husband and out the door towards the gardens. As soon as the cool air hits, you gasp at the crispness. You stay behind Roy and take in his state. He's tense, his fists are clenched into tight fists.
You carefully and cautiously make your way up to him, placing a gentle hand on his arm, "Do you want to talk about it?"
At your touch, his shoulders slump, "Did you know she and I were engaged?"
You nod, "I heard rumors. You were in love and then she caught the eye of Duke Rupert Mannion of Stratford. She broke off the engagement. They were married a month later."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be."
He turns to you, brows furrowed in confusion, "Are you not upset?"
"Why would I be?"
"That I still feel this way about her?"
You shrug, "I suppose I understand why you're taken back by her presence. She's caused you a great deal of pain. You loved her and she hurt you."
He nods, "I did love her," he slips his hand into yours, "But not like how I love you."
You feel your chest swell and you softly smile at him, "I'll admit that does make me feel very prideful."
He chuckles and leans in, kissing your head, "I'll be okay. Promise. She just took me by surprise. Besides, I'm sure her presence along with the Duke's will take the attention away from us, hm?"
You let out a deep breath, "God, I hope so."
____________________________
You were actually enjoying yourself. Roy danced with you as many times as you liked and kept by your side at all times. Only twice did he let you out of his sight and it was so that Jamie could dance with you.
Fortunately, as Roy would hope, the presence of the Duke and Duchess of Cumberland took the spotlight away from you and Roy. However, you couldn't help but catch a few ladies whispering about Roy's previous engagement to Georgina. It took every bit of you to not scold the women for gossiping about your future husband. Again, you didn't want to bring attention to yourself tonight, so you refrained yourself from doing so.
You and Roy were having some polite chatter with Lady Rebecca Welton, the hostess of tonight's ball, when a man came up to her.
"Becca, darling, thank you again for the invite of tonight. My lovely duchess and I have had a wonderful time."
You can see how uncomfortable Lady Rebecca felt, yet she smiled, "Of course, Rupert. It's been wonderful to see you and the duchess."
Rupert then turns to you, "Oh hello," he shoots you a grin that makes you incredibly uncomfortable, "Rupert Mannion, Duke of Stratford."
You curtsy, "Lady Y/N, your grace."
The older man notes your arm around Roy's and his grin grows, "Oh. She yours, Kent?"
"We're engaged, yes," Roy responds plainly.
Rupert chuckles, "Interesting. Thought you'd never marry after I stole my lovely Gina's heart."
Your eyes shoot to Georgina and she winces, placing a hand on the duke's arm, "Darling, why don't we get some air?"
The man pushes her off, "I don't need air."
"I want some air, darling."
Rupert sighs, "Very well." He gives Roy and Lady Rebecca a nod and you a wink, before dragging Georgina to the gardens for air.
Once out of earshot, Roy turns to Rebecca and says, "I can't believe you were married to that prick."
"Roy! You can't-wait," you look at Rebecca, "You were married to him?!"
Lady Rebecca nods, "Unfortunately. He wasn't all bad at first. I genuinely did love him, but things changed. He changed. Then he saw Georgina and he had our marriage annulled. I suppose they deserve each other with how they left Roy and I in the dust."
You try to gather your thoughts from the information you just received, "Wait. You and Rupert were married. Then he met Georgina, who was engaged with Roy. Then Rupert had your marriage annulled, Georgina broke off the engagement with Roy, and they end up marrying each other."
Roy nods, "Correct."
"Yes, that sounds about right," Rebecca says before sipping more of her lemonade.
You shake your head in disbelief, "That's...awful."
Lady Rebecca sighs, nursing her lemonade, "Yes, well, everything happens for a reason, right? I'm fine and Roy is marrying you," she leans closer to you and murmurs, "Congratulations, by the way," and shoots you a wink.
"Thank you, Lady Rebecca" you respond.
She waves off the formalities, "Please, just Rebecca is fine." She lifts her glass up to Roy, "Kent, treat her well."
"Will do," he grunts in response and watches as Rebecca waltzes away to continue to mingle with her guests.
"She's lovely. Doesn't seem to very traditional, hm?"
"Not at all," Roy says as he places his hand on your lower back and guides you to Keeley and Jamie, whom seem to be in a heated discussion with one another.
You quicken your step to join your friends, "You lot look like a bunch of gossiping mamas."
Keeley smirks, "To be fair, we were gossiping."
"About?" Roy asks curiously with a thick cocked brow.
"You, m'Lord," Jamie responds with a grin, "And the grand duke and duchess."
Roy rolls his eyes, "I'm fine."
Jamie shrugs, "Didn't ask if you were fine. Just gossiping."
Your future husband's jaw clenches and takes a step towards Jamie, but you step in, "He's just joshing, love."
He immediately looks to you, "Love?"
You immediately feel flustered, "I-I'm sorry. I'll just call you Roy-"
"No, no. Love is fine," his gaze is soft and you feel that light fluttering inside your chest again.

Why I think Sid is the father
Possible hints from the show (not the obvious and usually stated ones + not hints that could also apply to other contenders):
- When Sophie enters Pemberton’s to switch phones back with Sid, the engagement party crowd thought she was Hannah
- Sid remembered how much Tinder dates Sophie went on; he paid attention to her well (more on this later)
- Sophie and Sid both experienced relationship problems then found each other at the same time and same place. Sid later gave Sophie advice about finding the right person (funny enough, the advice parallels the situation because Sophie and Sid found each other at the right time to give each other advice)
- Two of Sophie’s by far most important love interests are connected to Sid—Jesse who is Sid’s best friend, and Drew who is a close friend of Sid’s wife
- Sophie remembers the Electric Slide; this time she is proven to pay attention to him
- If the father isn’t Jesse and Sophie is still married to the father, only Sid would be the perfect candidate to be understanding on why Jesse’s photo is on Sophie’s wall since he is Sid’s best friend
- The father is hinted to have loved Valentine’s Day even before he and Sophie even got together. Unlike the other guys, Sid’s memory for Valentine’s Day was always consistently good. Additionally, when Hannah walked in Pemberton’s to surprise Sid, only Sophie’s reaction was the focus
- Sophie and Sid both remember random facts they found out about each other offscreen; once again solidifying that they do pay attention to each other
- Sid somehow is the only character who has profound or notable interactions with both of Sophie’s parents
- Since we know that Sophie narrates the story, it’s important to note that she often emphasizes Sid’s stories by giving us in-depth insight despite their minimal interactions in episodes before 02x13. While she also does this for her other friends, it’s only Sid’s stories that we actually see play out long. To add, Sophie always paints Sid in a positive light in her stories
- EDIT: I forgot to add that the possibility that Sid’s last name not being revealed might also allude to Sophie’s future last name. Given, women can keep their names, but let’s not forget the possibility. Because of societal norms, women usually take their husband’s family name. If Sophie is indeed still married to the father in the future and took his last name, we can see why she won’t tell the audience her current last name. If Sid then happens to be the father and husband, it’s a strong possibility. In HIMYM, it was not needed to hide the maiden name of the possible mothers because it was Ted telling the story.
Parallels & Connections with HIMYM/Ted and Tracy:
- Alliteration names (Ted Mosby and Tracy McConnell, Sophie and Sid—if Sid’s last name also starts with a letter “T” like Tompkins then that would be interesting)
- Both are romantics. Sophie is a hopeless romantic who can’t find “the one” like Ted, while Sid is a committed romantic who is (and possibly going to be was) in a longterm relationship
- Sophie and Sid swap phones, paralleling the yellow umbrella swap
- Sophie and Sid’s banters are very similar to that of Ted and Tracy’s
- Sid has Ted’s old room
- In connection to a point from the previous section, Sophie painting Sid in a picture that’s so positive and feeling untainted is very similar to how Ted paints Tracy in his stories—perfect, an angel, someone who no one could say something bad about
- Not directly related to HIMYM, but in the original HIMYM spin-off (How I Met Your Dad), the lead character Sally met the dad as she was preparing to get divorced. The script of this scrapped spin-off was reworked into HIMYF. I’m not saying it’s a direct answer, but what if the divorce storyline is gonna go to HIMYF’s only married main character father prospective?
Now for personal feelings, I just think that out of all the guys, Sid is really the most “the father of my child” material for Sophie. His personality is so well-suited for her and they both have the same outlook in life. I know that the obvious is Jesse, but something in me is really screaming that it isn’t him. Now, I’m still on a limbo if Sophie and the father are still together in the future, but whether they are or not, I am gonna stick by with Sid as the father.

Pointing Out the Historical Inaccuracies (and Some Accuracies) of Ridley Scott's Napoleon 🤓
Tumblr media
The only interesting parts of this film are the costumes, and maybe one or two music tracks. The rest of the movie is just awful. The story can hardly be called a story. It's just miscellaneous boring scenes duct taped together. None of the characters are developed beyond a single trait, if that. A period this broad shouldn't have been crammed into a movie this short. I honestly wouldn't have disliked the historical inaccuracy so much if it had been sacrificed for the sake of a good narrative, but this is bad. Even if you don't know about the era enough to nitpick it, I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone.
Tumblr media
TL;DR go watch Waterloo or The Duelists instead.
Accurate Historical Details
There were some minor details that made me perk up like, "Ah, yes! It did happen like that!" The rest of the movie is so inaccurate that these details stuck out.
Napoleon tugged on peoples' ears as a sign of affection. You see this in the movie with Tallyrand and Josephine. He also did this a lot with his soldiers, which we don't see in the film. In fact, he doesn't interact with his soldiers much at all in the film.
The French fired a 101-cannon salute after Napoleon's first son was born.
Napoleon famously bumbled at the Coup of 18 Brumoire, and his brother Lucien had to step in to direct the French grenadiers.
It's contested whether or not Robespierre actually shot himself in the jaw, but I think at this point it's mostly accepted as truth? In any case, someone screwed up his jaw before he was arrested.
The British loved publishing political cartoons about Napoleon, including cartoons of him being cucked.
Joséphine did actually meet Tsar Alexander shortly before her death. I didn't know about this one and was happy to learn something new.
The depictions of line and square formations were okay.
Historical Inaccuracies
This is, in spite of its budget, one of most historically inaccurate pieces of media I've seen on the era, and on top of that it isn't even good.
There is so much historical context omitted from this film that I feel like anyone who doesn't have an interest in the time period will have NO idea what's going on. You are never really given the how and why of history other than "the Europeans are fighting and also Napoleon is there."
The overall characterization of Napoleon is just bizarre. Napoleon was smart, egotistical, ambitious, hot-tempered, and had a magnetic charisma and human charm that inspired a kind of blind loyalty in his soldiers. This is why he was so successful - and so dangerous. Napoleon never feels threatening or sinister in this film. He's just kind of there, slouching and sweating and mumbling under his breath as history unfolds. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure does a better job of depicting Napoleon than whatever the hell is going on here.
Napoleon was not present at the beheading of Marie-Antoinette.
He didn't have his horse shot out from under him at Toulon, and he didn't send gore-spattered cannonballs to his mother, as far as I know.
The movie casts a younger actress to play Joséphine de Beauharnais, but Joséphine was actually older than Napoleon.
I'm pretty sure that Napoleon didn't find and return the sword of Joséphine's ex-husband, although there is a legend stating that he attempted to confiscate it and was persuaded by Joséphine's son to return it.
The French army never shot their cannons at the Pyramids in Egypt. They also didn't loot the Pyramids, although they participated in a lot of heinous looting elsewhere.
Napoleon didn't leave Egypt because he found out he was being cucked by his wife - he'd already known about that for some time. He left Egypt because the campaign was failing and because the political situation in France was becoming untenable.
Jacques-Louis David attended the coronation of Napoleon, but didn't start his studies for the painting during the coronation itself. (At least as far as I know.)
The lake scene during the Battle of Austerlitz is a bit of a legend, but probably not true. The gigantic lake was more likely a series of shallow ponds, if it existed at all.
Napoleon did not lead cavalry charges, and he sure as shit didn't lead cavalry charges at the Battles of Borodino or Waterloo. In fact, Napoleon infamously sat a safe distance away while watching the bloody Battle of Borodino unfold.
Napoleon was not exiled following the Russian campaign. He was exiled after the War of the Sixth Coalition, in 1814.
Joséphine died in 1814, when Napoleon was still at Elba, not in 1815.
Trench warfare and scoped muskets were not used at the Battle of Waterloo.
Napoleon never met the Duke of Wellington.
That's uh. The cut version of my complaints.

Someone might’ve posted about this before, but while i have the persistent brainrot, I wanna ramble about hatchetfield and the perpetual cycle of missed opportunities.
The first couple is pretty obvious: Paul and Emma. They’re two people who don’t get the chance to move past the early stages of a relationship. In TGWDLM, they’ve just gotten on a first name basis, even though he’s a regular and there’s a connection between them. It’s a slow burn that fizzles out because of the circumstances. Black Friday is a bit different because, while they’re not an official couple, Emma cares enough about Paul to bring her to what she thinks is a belated Thanksgiving dinner with estranged family. But that musical ends with everyone being blown to kingdom come, so again, it doesn’t evolve further than being “intimate” with each other. Then, of course, there’s their brief interaction in NPMD which parallels TGWDLM, with an interruption by Officer Bailey. In Nightmare Time, only Paul 23 and Android! Emma have a happy ending, but not without hiccups of course. They seem like an inevitability-pun fully intended-in every universe. Oftentimes, their potential is never fully realized.
Becky and Tom is an interesting couple because they’re the only main pairing that dated and broke up, only to get back together later on. They dated in high school and were pulled apart by circumstance. Tom goes to war, and in the interim, Becky becomes entangled with her abusive husband that keeps them apart even after he comes back. In Black Friday, they reunite, bone in the movie theater, but again, they get fucking bombed at the end. In Jane’s A Car, they actually get to rekindle their relationship, getting to the point that Tom brings Becky home to meet his son. Tim even likes Becky, acknowledging that she can’t replace his mom but she’s a good presence for them both. Unfortunately, Tom’s grief and guilt drives them apart again-pun not intended this time. There could be other worlds where they get back together as well, but that comes after years of heartbreak, trauma, and separation.
Lex and Ethan are interesting because in every world we’ve seen thus far, they start each story in a very committed relationship. We don’t see their beginning stages like the others, so we already know how they are together. This makes Black Friday even more devastating when we watch Ethan die protecting Hannah, and Lex never finds this out. She dies unaware of his fate. Then in Witch in a Web, they’re both in jail after trying to make money to get Hannah out of their neglectful mother’s home. Yellow Jacket is the worst, I think. Because Ethan wants the best for Lex and Hannah, he allows Hannah to take part in the super kid fight club, which accidentally dooms his relationship after they kill Otho and have to go on the run from Charlie. We see him getting her a ring, preparing to propose to her, but he never gets the chance. Lex leaves him behind in Hatchetfield to relieve him of the burden of having to protect her and Hannah. Ethan loves Lex so much that while trying to save her, he loses her.
Finally, our newest and most hopeful addition: Steph and Pete. The babies. We see them first in Abstinence Camp, finding kindred spirits in each other because they see themselves outcasts in their environment. I’d argue this is also true in NPMD. They’re both outliers in their social groups, and connect because of this. In TGWDLM, we can assume they both are infected before ever meeting-the same thing goes for Black Friday. The nice thing about their relationship is, in both Abstinence Camp and NPMD, they end the story in the early stages of their romance, and we can assume it’ll develop further because they both trust each other and have ‘defeated’ the monster. However, they don’t get through it unscathed. Nobody does. But I’ll be optimistic and say they’re the only ones who actually get the happy ending they deserve.
Some honorable mentions:
- Ted and Charlotte, and Ted and Jenny. Ted seems to truly care for Charlotte, and in TGWDLM, he watches her die for her scummy husband. In Black Friday, they’re briefly seen together at the end, but again, BOMB. Then there’s Forever & Always, where it’s revealed Ted is responsible for the death of his one true love, and also his own.
- Linda and Gerald is less subtle, considering they’re both batshit, but their insanity makes them a match made in hell. So, it’s pretty sad when, in Nightmare Time 2, Gerald dies helping Linda become the titular Honey Queen. And, of course, Linda dies in Black Friday while on the phone with him.
- DUKE AND MISS HOLLOWAY. OH BOY DO I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THEM. THE TRAGEDY OF FALLING FOR SOMEONE WHO YOU CAN NEVER SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH BECAUSE BUT YEARNING TO BE IN THEIR LIFE IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. THE PAINS OF BEING IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE THAT YOU NEVER REALLY KNEW, NOR COULD YOU EVER TRULY KNOW HER, BUT YOU LOVE HER REGARDLESS, AND YOULL ALWAYS LOVE HER. PROTECTING THE PERSON YOU LOVE EVEN IF IT MEANS ACCIDENTALLY DAMNING YOURSELF INTO STARTING OVER WITHOUT THAT PERSON. GOD THEY MAKE ME SO SAD

I feel like y’all are sleeping on the canonically-overlapping timeframes between It Chapter 1 & Stranger Things.
Will goes missing in early November (aka fall) of 1983. It Chapter 1 takes place 1988-1989, with Georgie going missing October 1988, and all the action taking place the subsequent summer.
The summer of 1989 would be when the Party graduates high school, you guys.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if Ted Wheeler had a sister, Maggie Tozier, perhaps? Finn Wolfhard has said that Richie and Mike wouldn’t get along, and Mike being frustrated with his dipshit little cousin is hilarious to me.
There are already crossover fics existing—ones that make Mike & Richie twins, ones that have Richie as the elder cousin, lots of ones that have Richie sent to live with/visit the Wheelers in Hawkins—but none I’ve seen that take the timeline into account, none with Mike as the elder cousin, and few that primarily take place in Derry.
What about, instead, starting post-season 4, with Karen Wheeler? The Wheelers are incredibly flawed, as parental figures go, but the end of season 4 leaves off with them seeming to pay more attention to the dangers in their children’s lives. Perhaps Karen Wheeler, newly wise to the supernatural dangers of Hawkins, sends Mike and Holly to live with their cousins in Derry for their own good? Hawkins is practically a ghost town, after all… Nancy’s over 18, Karen can’t control her—but she can protect her younger two, at least.
Perhaps it’s discovered that Mike was a target of Vecna, and the party, on edge and traumatized after Max, advocates for him to move away, where he’ll be safe, unintentionally heightening Mike’s feelings of uselessness (but he knows he could be useful, if they’d just listen this time, if they’d just let him stay… he feels sick thinking it, but also sickeningly justified in it, too: if he’d been in hawkins when they went for vecna that first time, max would be awake, and eddie would be alive. Mike could’ve done better, he just knows it, if only he’d been there to plan, he would’ve done better than the harebrained scheme nancy threw together, nearly getting max killed, and he only just made up with will, and eddie is dead, and he cant leave now—).
(It’s interesting to explore how mike sometimes simultaneously overconfident & incredibly insecure, as well as his (mis?)perception of himself, nancy, etc. Another interesting theme to explore here is the concept of usefulness, and how that does or does not factor into being loved and having value. Mike is useful, Mike is a leader… but by taking away Mike’s opportunities to express these things, it forces Mike to contend with his own self-worth and how he values himself, and his feelings on having to be “useful” in relationships relationships/to be loved (see: she doesn’t need me, mike’s van ramblings on lois lane, etc).
On top of that…what if Ted died fighting the upsidedown, protecting his children, and Karen shuffles the kids off to Derry shortly thereafter? Maybe she stays with Mike and Holly in Derry, but maybe she doesn’t stay forever—perhaps she returns to Hawkins to try and defend her wayward, rebellious eldest, Nancy, fighting at her daughters’ side and avenging her late husband. So Mike is left to grapple with the loss of his father mostly on his own, though Aunt Maggie and Uncle Went do their best. Perhaps it’s made worse by the fact that, just as his parents seemed to be doing better, to be caring, one got himself killed and the other abandoned them. In their attempts to “do better” they both—well, they don’t. Frankly, mike preferred when they didnt pay attention at all. At least they were all alive, and mike was with the people he loved. Will he have to forgive them, now? His father and his last-minute heroics, as though that makes up for a lifetime of distance; his mother and her grief, deciding that acknowledging her failures as a parent means giving up all hopes of being a better one?
(Themes? Forgiveness, parents, the impacts parents have on their children, etc.)
And on top of all of that, now he’s stuck in this shitty, homophobic town, one that isn’t all that different from his shitty, homophobic hometown, except that missing children are mundane here and most of the people he loves are miles away. Oh, and also it’s cold as fuck, because he’s in Maine, and he has to share a room with his shitty little cousin, Richie.
Mike is abruptly shoved into the same position El was—he’s dealing with a lot of shit at school, but why the hell would he tell el about it, with everything she’s dealing with in hawkins?? El had it worse in Lenora, apparently—given the way she reacted when he tried to compare their experiences with bullying.
(This isn’t entirely accurate, isn’t reflective of the intention behind El’s statement or the reason she reacted to Mike the way she did, merely a way Mike might internalize and interpret and be affected by El’s response to him talking about his experiences with bullying in season four.)
Reconstructing cerebro on the roof without dustin sucks. Being unable to communicate with the people he loves would suck more, though, and telephone lines are never private, no matter who’s listening in (nosey aunts and cousins or government agents on their side or government agents decidedly NOT on their side—it doesn’t matter. They don’t get to spy, because it’s not of their goddamn business).
(At least he and will are talking. Every other night, practically. Mike climbs out of the window of his shared bedroom, sits on the roof next to his Cerebro, and talks and talks and talks with will until the sky gets light. They discuss the latest new of the upsidedown, their friends, will’s connection to all of it, their families. Will is the only person mike tells, honestly, about what it’s like in Derry. They talk about light things too—plan campaigns they know they’ll never get to play, talk about comics and gossip about annoying siblings & cousins. When the Little Shop of Horrors movie comes out, they watch it separately & then talk about it together. Overall, they’re making a better go of it than the last time they tried long distance.)
(The cognitive disconnect for mike between what he’s experienced, what his friends have experienced, and the relatively mundane (for now) evils of derry high school might be interesting to explore, too.)
Life continues in this vein for about 2 years. The upsidedown & vecna aren’t fully resolved, but things are at a kind of stalemate, at least.
And then, in 1988, Georgie Denbrough goes missing.
(If you made it to the end of this long-ass post, congrats, man. I figure i’ll tag @wibble-wobbegong since i know he was/is v into stephen king? If you’re reading this, hi wibble! Idk this plot bunny has been dancing in my head. If anybody has thoughts, or different directions they wanna springboard off from this, i’d love to hear ab it lol. I think imma tag this on “wheeler in derry” for my own organization. If i elaborate ill probably tag it there)

So I could go after a bunch of stuff that irks me in How I Met Your Mother but I wanted to post about some of the major things that bother me and see if I’m crazy or if others resonate the same.
First and most frustrating to me: STELLA. nearly everything about this irked me.
The thing with inviting Robin to the wedding…like, yeah, absolutely valid that you don’t want your future husband’s ex to be there. But why didn’t you say that when making the initial plans? Especially when you know she’s one of his 4 friends. Did you really expect him to not invite her??
The thing with inviting Tony…yes, absolutely I get not wanting him there. But Ted has no legal guardianship over Lucy. What exactly was Ted supposed to do? Take a little girl from her father against his will? That’s kidnapping. He has no legal right to take Lucy away from Tony.
Moving into an apartment in New York with Tony after making a massive point about how ridiculous it would be for her to do something like that with Ted. Like…girly…the man wouldn’t move to New Jersey for his OWN child? Ted was like “you know what, you’re right” but Tony was like “nah give up the house” and that was fine??
Going to Ted to ask him to get Tony back for her…my sister in Christ, what the fuck. What exactly did Tony expect Ted to say about the woman who LEFT HIM AT THE ALTER? Did he expect Ted to still be obsessed with her? And WHY does Stella even want Tony back if the man is willing to break up their family for a SECOND TIME bc a man who Stella hurt is not obsessed with her and thinks she’s selfish? Clearly he wanted the out. Why chase him? AND the fact that she literally only apologizes bc she needs help from him…ugh. That is messed up imo
The movies REALLY irk me. Ted is the man who YOU left at the alter and the man who GOT TONY BACK FOR YOU, but you let this man make him the villain for his movie? You not only divulge private shit that went on between you and Ted, but you also don’t stop him from putting it in a fricking movie?? I get Tony having his warped image of things, fine, but Stella really just let that all go down like that?? She just told Tony every single detail and everything she ever learned about Ted and he put it in a movie. WHY
Ted and Victoria, the second time they get together:
One of my biggest issues with this is that for some reason Ted is the one people blame for the wedding not happening??? As if 1) Victoria wasn’t a whole adult who chose to not tell Ted it was her wedding day before agreeing to meet up with him and bringing a car for them to run away together 2) Victoria’s husband-to-be ALSO ran away from the wedding. He literally also left!!
Even if Ted had brought Victoria back, there wouldn’t have been a wedding. Victoria’s dad blaming Ted and expecting him to pay is so crazy to me.
Another issue I have is with her being pissy that Ted wants her ex-fiancé out of his apartment. It’s not like the dude was normal and super chill. He had an aggressive pet that kept birthing babies and biting AND he didn’t respect boundaries. Like if the dude was just chilling and a normal roommate, I’d get it. But I don’t feel like it was unreasonable for Ted to not want him there — he agreed to let the ex stay with him and had no knowledge of the ferrets or whatever pets the guy had when he suggested it.
My last issue with Victoria is that when Ted is like “if you wanted a bigger commitment, you’d tell me, right?” and she’s like “yeah, I’d be direct.” and then continues to be passive aggressive. The man literally told her “I need you to be direct” and she wouldn’t. All of that on top of her thing about getting back together with him on her wedding day meant he shouldn’t be shocked she wants to get married…babygirl…you didn’t want to get married. You literally ran away at the first opportunity when Ted asked if you wanted to catch up
Ted and The Mother: My main issue with them is that SO quick after being ready to MOVE TO CHICAGO bc he loves Robin, he’s just all good to stay for her? Like suddenly the Robin thing is a non-issue??? Like…bruh??? That just doesn’t track for me at all.
I also take issue with him returning to Robin in the finale and the kids encouraging it. Like idk about yall but wouldn’t it be weird for your dad to admit to saying he was so in love with his best friend’s wife that he was moving but the next day fell for your mom? I feel like I’d be kinda like “okay so was mom a stand in for Robin??? is that what the point of this story was???”
Ted and Barney (Robin and the bro code): I’m pretty sure going after your best friend’s ex-wife is a violation of the bro code if going after your ex-girlfriend is. Like this is the one woman your best friend ever REALLY loved…
Plus…was it not a whole issue of Ted being unable to sleep with a woman because he thought Barney was with her first? But banging the woman Barney was married to and consistently slept with is fine?
There’s definitely more that irks me but these are the main things…anyway. for anyone who made it this far, thanks for reading my rant lol

yeah actually your 10 year old child should be more important to you than your friends who are adults and can take care of themselves
with all due respect he had opportunity to bring that 10 year old child there. do you think that 10 year old child will appreciate his father getting more depressed and diving into his unadressed alcoholism? because that Will Happen
you can't be a good parent if your whole life is only revolving around your role as a parent
it's not about his Adult Friends who can take care of themselves it's about Ted Himself who cuts his support system off and abandons Everything and Everyone
what does he have in kansas aside from his son?
his ex-wife with her unethical husband and his mother who shamed him into returning?
also it just sucks from storytelling perspective cause you know. Those Are Characters. no real life 10 year olds were harmed.

In defense of Skyler White.
Tumblr media
Skyler :3
Skyler White, the wife of Walter White from breaking bad. Skyler is one of the most, if not the most hated character in all of Breaking Bad, for what? Sure, she's not perfect but we have a cast of non-perfect and other characters that deserve venom way more than Skyler does.
I've seen people argue that she is simply annoying, she wasn't able to keep her mouth shut about her husband's meth business that put her whole family in danger, or that she didn't love Walter. I've got no idea how people defend Walter so easily, but can't defend Skyler. Walter is by far, much worse than Skyler. Say all you want, he is. She is unfairly judged and not judged by the same standards her husband is. Walter cooks meth, has killed people, helps in killing people, and just so much more. And what about Skyler? Oh, she wasn't initially supportive of her husband being a criminal, boo-hoo-hoo.
Skyler is expected by Walter and the audience to just go with what her husband wants or deems "necessary" by her husband. Good ol' ball and chain. At the episode Skyler found out about her husband's drug involvement was season 3, episode 1, No Más. At this point in the series Skyler and Walter had a newborn daughter, Holly. Skyler had argued with Walter where Skyler had to go through her whole process of finding out what Walter had done and he expected her to simply accept "But I did all for my family."
Walter had put Skyler through a lot of emotional turmoil up until the point she confronted him about being in the drug business. She was stressed as hell and it was unfair. Walter would disappear, lie, and lie again even when Skyler knew he was lying. She was pregnant with their second child for crying out loud. She had every damn right to not want to be with Walter anymore. She had a realistic reaction to the situation, people were just mad she didn't let Walter walk all over her.
Skyler is a woman of strong morals. Good ones. She is family-orientated and doesn't like when people go against the rules, like any good citizen. This is shown when in season 1 when her sister, Marie, was shoplifting. Skyler confronts her about it and tries to get her to return the stuff Marie stole. Back to Skyler being really stressed around this time, she handled the situation terribly. On another hand, it was realistic and Skyler didn't know or understand the underlying issue with Marie's stealing. Neither sister was right in this situation.
Skyler does have flaws, as any good character does. She DOES tend to confront people in bad ways. She'll rage at people with not a lot of proper evidence.
Ok. Ted needs to be brought up eventually. Was this a good thing she did? No. She wanted a divorce with Walter because, y'know, he was making meth. Walter was refusing. So, in a desperate attempt to get the man she didn't trust anymore and no longer felt like she knew, out of her house with their newborn baby; she cheated on him. She knew Ted was into her, she wasn't into him but she wanted Walter to accept the divorce. She only slept with Ted to show that she was no longer in love with Walter and didn't wanna be his wife. It wasn't even technically cheating considering they were in the middle of a divorce.
In conclusion, she's not the worst, annoying, tyrant that people make her out to be. She's just a flawed human in a cast full of others way worse than her.

Omg I forgot I even had this account💀😍 but I’m back and with more embarrassing things I did while playing soccer/voetbal
Characters: Kenyu Yukimiya, Eita Otoya, Tabito Karasu, Jingo Raichi, Rensuke Kunigami, Shoei Baro, Anri Teieri
Warning: none
~~~~~~~~~~
Kenyu Yukimiya
- Nothing. My husband would never do anything embarrassing :|
- He got milkshakes right before a soccer/voetbal match while being lactose intolerant
- his mama went by the kfc for his sister and would drop him of at the field after
- so while in the drive-thru he was craving a vanilla milkshake so his mom got him 2 sinds the milkshakes there are small af
- BUT IT CAME IN A NORMAL DRINK CUP
- he drank them both😺
- half way trough the match he felt IT
- his *ss was on fire he needed to find a toilet quick
- so he faked that he was sick so he could go to the bathroom
- when he got to the toilet he to a massive long- actually you know what I wanted say
- he sh*ted SO LOUD it was like fireworks went of and at least half of the people right outside the toilet heard it
- when he went out he tried that “someone is sh*ting in there
- he cried the whole way home
Eita Otoya
- now Eita likes football
- you can even say he loves it
- but in his family he isn’t the only one
- he has this little cousin around 8 who is obsessed with it and does nothing but football
- and at his aunts bday party his little cousin asked him if he could play a 1-on-1 match against him
- first he didn’t want to play because he was very tiered and just wanted to eat and maybe even sleep a little
- but one other thing Eita loves are girl
- and his niece brought her hot friend (disclaimer? This girl was probably well over 20 now that I’m thinking back)
- and he wanted to impress her a little (w rizz)
- what he would do was play around a little
- ‘help’ his cousin shoot a little and then let him win
- with this he could show his own skills and show her he’s good with kids
- it was around the end of their little match and she still didn’t even glance his way
- so he came with a wonderful plan where he would playfully bully his little cousin
- he said stuff like ‘I thought you where good at this’ and ‘come on I’m not even warm from this match’
- but like I said his little cousin LOVES football so he didn’t take lightly to his words
- so Eita got punched in the guts by his little cousin
- Eita lost
- everyone saw that
- even his niece hot friend
Tabito Karasu
- so Tabito his mama isn’t always as supportive
- some weeks she doesn’t ask him anything about school or football and other
- some weeks she is driving him to school picking him up, bringing him new football shoes and treats him after every game
- so his mama was in the super supportive mood this week
- and Tabito mentioned that he was going to have a match with his friends
- but he forgot to mention it wasn’t official and it would be just him, his friends and his friends friends
- so he is getting ready to go and his mama wishes him good luck
- nothing suspicious right?
- his mama shows up with a horn to cheer for Tabito
- everyone was laughing at him and he could get his mama to stop
- now he will never tell her anything
Jingo Raichi
- tournaments where held against school and Raichi decided that he would use a old trick
- intimidation
- because 1 he wanted people to talk about him and his school
- and 2 his team this year was terrible
- so he got his friends from other schools to talk about him and his team
- he and his team got killer nicknames like ‘sniper’ or ‘evil wizard’😍 (in my defense it was every cool back then)
- it went so far that there where stories about the team that where not true but
- about how the have played against really big under-16 teams (in my country they’re very common)
-or how the whole team got scouted by big youth groups
- and weirdly enough most people believed the stories
- the day from the tournaments he got to see the team he was up against
- and damn
- that team was big
- the measures that you can think about is a 12 year old against a 18 year old
- I’ll save the sad and embarrassing details but Raichis team lost 5-0
- he doesn’t want to talk about it ever again
Rensuke Kunigami
- this happened at a family party (I can’t recall if it was a birthday or whatever)
- and one of his uncles who is a dead beat brought his child who was the same age as Kunigami (they are now bffs 4 life)
- his new cousin might be the same age but he was very small very shy and had very very bad eyesight and had those special glasses
- this party was very awkward and tense because… well his uncle brought a full grown kid no one knew about
- and by the uncles behavior you could see he didn’t know his own son
- and sinds nobody wanted to talk to him Kunigami decided that he would be the first one
- so he asked him if he wanted to play football with him
- surprisingly he said yes so they went to the garden to play
- now how the layout was was the garden connected to the big living room with big full wall windows so if you where inside you had a very clear view of the outside
- everyone was located in the living room except for Kunigami and his new cousin
- at this age Kunigami was already pretty skilled with shooting and also very sporty however when he would shoot the ball it could go any direction
- his new cousin was nothing like that
- so Kunigami decided that instead of a 1-on-1 he would just play that goalkeeper game where his cousin would stand and try catching the balls that he shoots
- so at the first shot it already goes wrong😑
- Kunigami tries to shoot behind him but it goes straight to his face
- and like I said this poor boy was wearing glasses
- so so the glasses shatter
- the glasses?
- broken
-the rim?
- snapped
- thank god that there wasn’t any glass in his cousins eyes
- but with all the tension of that day Kunigami started sobbing and ugly crying
- it was so loud that a lot of adults started looking what was going on
- all they saw was a screaming Kunigami and a very confused boy with broken glasses
- luckily nobody was mad and they just laughed about it
- after that him and that cousin became each others favorite friends
Shoei Baro
- this wasn’t while playing real football
- he was playing fifa
- so it can’t be that bad right?
- WRONG
- it was just after his birthday and he got a lot of money that year (around 300 #bigfamily)
- so his mama went to a friends house just to catch up with her and Barou went with her with his birthday money because after that he would buy a new iPad
- this friend has a son 4 years older than him
- this guy loved gambling
- so Barou got kind of pressured into playing fifa for money with him
- Barou was very confident with his fifa skills after having spend a view years playing it himself
- so they went to this guys room where he found like 4 other guys sitting there (I think friends or something)
- the rules where very simple, you need to play against everyone and per game won you could get 50 from the the person who lost. And with finals if you lost you lost all the money you won and the rest
- Barou didn’t really have a choice in this so he played
- Barou won the 4 rounds against this guy his friends but didn’t take the money because he found it bullshit and had his own money
- the last one was the the guy with the gamble addiction
- but this guy if foul
- he faked that his controller was broken and said he would grab a other one and that Barou could use the freshly new one
- the new one was bugged af
- so Barou lost hard and all his birthday money was gone
- the money for his new iPad was gone
- he got laughed at by all 5 of them
- he faked being sick so his mama wouldn’t find out about his lost money
- this story does have a happy ending
- the friends of this guy bought him a better and more expensive iPad because they started feeling bad for him and even got his birthday money back after they stole it from the guy
Anri Teieri
- she was young and had no idea skills in playing football
- she only watched it
- Anri had only a few girl friends who knew about football because of their boyfriends (Anri doesn’t have one and her friends where fake af)
- so at a cute little friends hangout session Anri mentioned that she wanted to learn how to play football
- one of her friends who said something about her being such a goalkeeper
- everybody agreed and started hyping her up
- Anri kind of liked it so she started agreeing with them
- so at a other hangout session her friends took a new friend with them
- he was a football player and one of her friends brought up hoe Anri also plays football
- that was a lie
- but the boy got all excited and wanted to know what position she played and wanted play football with her
- with everyone there she decided she would just agree
- it can’t be that hard to stay at the goal and stop the ball
- wrong
- with everyone they went to a football field close by
- there you can borrow a football and for one euro you can play on a field (very common in my country although right now playing on the field is free and you pay for the ball)
- they would play the goalkeeper and striker shit (think about the second part from blue lock where you needed to get a 100 goals)
- she stood there and the guy was ready to shoot the ball
- she wanted to be careful by using her arms to block?
- bad idea
- the boy shot and he shot so hard
- Anri got to the ball and stopped it
- but then she felt something
- first both her arms where ice cold and then absolute pain started going trough both of them
- one arm was broken and the other was very badly bruised
- but crying around so many people?
- no way
- so she went that whole day without telling everyone
- but at night she couldn’t hold it in and started crying about it
- her friends dropped her shot after that (literally the next day)
- this story also has a happy ending
- the boy who broke her arm brought her to school every single day until her arms where healthy again and they stayed friends
~~~~~~~~~~
I feel like I school give a little more context about the ages and stories. Also all the stories that I’m talking about happens in ‘middle school’ and I started high school when I was 12yo so I was very young
Kenyu: i was 12 yo
Eita: I was 11 yo
Tabito: me and my Mama have a very rocky relationship but I can’t remember how old I was I think also around 12 yo
Raichi: that was honestly my last big lie😭😭 but I was 10 yo (I know very young but in my defense I live in Europe)
Kunigami: right now he is my favorite cousin and we where both 7yo
Barou: I still follow the friends on Twitter and I was 13yo
Anri: that is the story from my niece she was 14yo at the time and now she is 21yo

Champurrado Kisses In The Moonlight - Jack Russell x MexicanF!Reader
Tumblr media
Warning: pure fluff, mentions of the moon knight boys, sexual comment
A/n: this was very and I mean very self indulgent. I was also craving champurrado when writing this lmao
********
The champurrado you had on the stove was finally coming to a boil, the smells of cinnamon wafts through your little cabin in the woods. You add more water to your simmer pot as well, seeing the water has lowered just a bit. With the weather getting colder it’s the perfect time for this delicious Mexican drink, especially when the full moon was coming in seven days time, a nice warm treat for them is good, inviting and uplifting for the week they have ahead of them.
A grumble comes from outside the kitchen window, “Yes Ted once it’s finished you will get the first cup” you smile up at the man-thing.
“Hmm, ¿qué es ese delicioso olor, mi amor?” Jack, your wonderful husband, says while wrapping his arms around your waist.
“Making champurrado, but it seems Ted is getting a bit impatient” you smile while turning to give him a small kiss.
More grumbles “Hey, you act like a child Ted and no more sushi Saturday for a month,” you say while pointing the molinillo at him.
Jack chuckles from behind you as he enjoys the bickering between the both of you.
“Oh come on amor, you can’t deny him of his sushi Saturday” Jack says nuzzling his nose into your neck. He goes and turns on your Spotify, your favorite song begins to play ‘Hasta La Raíz’
“Ven, mi amor, baila conmigo,” Jack grabs your hand twirling you around the kitchen.
“My love, the champurrado is gonna burn,” you say as you giggle letting him twirl you.
He pulls you close and begins singing along with the song playing in the background, “Yo te llevo dentro, Hasta la raíz,” he kisses your neck, rubbing his cheek against your shoulder, these little moments you will always cherish. That is until you smell the scent of slightly burnt scent of cinnamon entering your nose and you rush to turn the stove off trying to salvage your delicious drink.
“Oh good, not ruined” you say smiling, and grabbing three mugs. I pour the thick and delicious drink into them, as well as grabbing some pan dulce to bring out to Ted, Jack follows with the other two mugs. We sit on the swing bench on the porch as I hand Ted his cup.
Ted let out some happy grumbles “Oh you are absolutely welcome Ted,” you smile blowing on your own drink, “When I was a child and we would make this, I would always dunk my pan into the champurrado. It was such a delicious bite,”
Jack does just as instructed, once the taste hits his tongue he lets out a pleasurable moan. You look at him with your mouth slightly open.
“You are the only one I know who can make eating so sexual,” you say causing Jack to blush and causing Ted to let out an annoyed groan.
“Next time your friends are in town, you should invite them. I know Jake would love this champurrado, I can even make it vegan so Steve can have it! The vegan one tastes just like the regular one as well. I’ll even make them some of their fav foods, do you know what Marc likes?,”
“Sí, mi reina, I’ll give them a call and invite them over,” he says smiling. He gives you a sweet kiss that tastes like champurrado and pan dulce.
******
¿qué es ese delicioso olor, mi amor? - What is that delicious smell, my love?
Ven, mi amor, baila conmigo - Come, my love, dance with me
Sí, mi reina - Yes, my queen

How old do you think Ganondorf was when he started to adopt the whole theatrics bit? Whether that be as a political stance or bc he's just dramatic, how young did it start? Personally I'm picturing a 13 year old monologuing at every chance
I'm so glad you asked, I have another ted talk about Ganondorf and Performing, I've been thinking about this so much today!! BRACE FOR A TEXT BLOCK:
So for my Ganondorf, the way that I write him, as I may have mentioned, I headcanon he was raised in heavy isolation by Twinrova until he was about 13-14 so that she could have overt control over his influences and upbringing, and was very stoic and serious as a child, as he is mostly being conditioned as a political diplomat and ambassador for a post-war Gerudo Valley to Hyrule (and a threat, if need be, of course).
Now my story for him is self-indulgently full of NabsGan, and I credit their meeting and bonding and her more rambunctious, rebellious attitude for forcing him to loosen up a bit as he got older.
That said, he still, while in the valley, maintains a stoic dignified air, as Gerudo Kings are seen as gods or god-adjacent in Gerudo culture. And aside from Nabooru, Twinrova, his select few combat trainers, the Hylian King, and his daughter, no one knows Ganondorf as a human person, they know him as divinity, so these airs and the sense of security it brings to his people are necessary. He's not flashy with them, he's not dramatic with them, he's their guardian, and their leader, and that's how he presents himself. Until the Hylian Queen marries.
Because while he has been a liaison to Hyrule for most of his youth, and the King and Princess know him very well by now, and they've done well to ease tensions between their people -- The new king is the one in power, and Ganondorf is a 7'6" hyper-competent arguably celestial once-in-a-century Gerudo Male, and the single largest threat to Hyrule there is.
So the performance starts small. The queen is still alive, she can smooth the wrinkles and make way for Ganondorf to build a peaceful non-threatening relationship with her new husband. And Ganondorf is smart, he knows he needs to be a little more shmoozy than he's had to be before, a little more charismatic and amenable. He needs to prove he's a friend to Hyrule, so that Hyrule can be a friend to Gerudo Valley. Liking the King is not his job. Keeping his people alive is his job. And even though he knows the queen would not allow for another war to break out, Ganondorf slowly builds a character to play around her husband, just as a soft introduction.
Then the queen dies, and his safety net is Gone. And Ganondorf does not like the leadership in other countries -- He thinks the Zora King is a joke, he hates Darunia and his bravado nonsense, the Kokiri are creepy and the Deku Tree doesn't do anything but feed them ... or feed off of them, he's never really been sure -- so his best bet of survival is being besties with the King. He needs that trust, he needs that reliance, and Ganondorf knew the Queen so well, what a stable and safe shoulder he is for a mourning king to turn to. Except that Ganondorf hates this man, and thinks he's an idiot, so the character has to take a deep root, and he performs like he's competing for an Oscar. Unfortunately, Ganondorf is so good at what he does, and the King does build a reliance on him. So he is called to Hyrule much more often than he ever was before. All the while, back home, his people are getting what they need from Hyrule, but only as an after thought, and even the great kingdom of Hyrule can't change the weather, and Hyrule is still socially hostile to the Gerudo who venture into its territory despite Ganondorf's 20+ years of diplomacy, and so the frustration takes a deep root, too, and Ganondorf is running out of patience for both of these circumstances.
So he comes up with a plan that will solve all his problems, and since he's hardly around his people anymore, he's really become devoted to this character he's playing. He likes it now. He's unlocked something mischievous and fun in himself, and he's being a bit of a child about it, since he wasn't able to be much of a child before. Nabooru was right, the whole rambunctious rebellion route is a lot of fun, and as the plan falls into place, one beautiful little brick at a time, Ganondorf becomes a very large and confident cat simply batting around his food, and it starts to show a little more every day, over the steady course of ten years.
The young princess picks up on this as she grows old enough to observe it, Impa knew him before and has been cautiously noting the shift, but their King, of course, is flattered by what he assumes to be the development of trust and candid comfort from his large, loyal confidant, which is all Ganondorf really needed.
Because he's the only one playing chess, and he has the king. So it's a very swift and destructive check mate from there.
And by then, he never sees his people anymore, and he's leaned completely into the role of Hyrule's antagonist, so the character sticks, and that's who he chooses to be, until that peacocking arrogance eventually becomes, more or less, the death of him.

Waking Up Slow - Eddie Munson X Reader || Fluff / Angst
Summary: After ending up in detention, you end up making friends with an unlikely person
Word Count: 1,228
Date Posted: 08.25.2022
TW: Mentions of abandonment, loneliness, cheating, parentification of a child.

Tumblr media
You were never the type to get detention. You were a cheerleader for christ sakes. You may not have been quite as perfect or popular as Chrissy, but you were just as well part of the group, adored by the basket ball team. You just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but that awful English Lit teacher had it out for you and refused to hear anything different.
You had a singular detention buddy as you were stuck in the library, redoing the protective coverings on the entire paranormal fiction section. Trust me, the one and only Eddie Munson was just as shocked to see you as you were to be in detention in the first place. His offense? Tardiness. For the third time that week. You knew that because you were in his first period biology class, which he missed.
“Y/l/n, Right?” Eddie asked as he plopped down on the floor next to you, in a home made Corroded Coffin shirt. You’d never heard of the band, you figured it must’ve been something you weren’t into.
“Yeah.”
“How come you’re in detention? Aren’t you in the group that never does anything wrong?” He asked. It came across dick-ish, but part of you knew that it was pure curiosity.
“Because Mr. Fitz hates me,” You grumbled. “Fucking asshole. He probably off fucking Mrs. Lynde right now, not that her husband knows of the affair.”
“Such a mouth on you, Princess. Not what I expected from the almighty cheerleading squad.”
You rolled your eyes at his teasing, carefully pealing and resticking the cover you’d messed up.
“You’d be surprised, Munson, not all of us are perfect like Chrissy.” You loved Chrissy, everyone did, but she was a tough act to follow. She was your best friend, but somehow you felt you always amounted to second best. “Aren’t you supposed to hate cheerleaders?”
“I can always hate you tomorrow,” He shrugged, making you giggle, “There is nobody here to judge either of us. What happens in the library can stay in the library. Besides I wouldn’t want to damage your reputation.”
That was the moment you decided you liked Eddie Munson, very much. He was not what you expected in the slightest. Everyone always told you that he was a freak, violent, scary. He was sweet, funny, caring.
After an hour of small talk, the custodians came and left, all except the emergency lights went out, shocking you out of the book you were half reading.
“What the hell?” Eddie wondered out loud, getting up and stretching his long legs. He rattled the library door, unable to get it open. “I think they locked us in here.”
Your face went deadly serious, “You really think that Fitz left us here?”
“If he was fucking Mrs. Lynde like you say he was, then there is a good chance he forgot all about us.”
“I don’t have a phone.” You admitted.
“The school phones block out bound calls without an admin code.”
“I don’t wanna know why you know that.”
“We’re stuck, may as well get comfortable, Princess.”
You slumped back against the bookshelf, resigning yourself to the situation. Eddie took his spot across from you.
“Are your parents going to worry?” He asked.
“It’s just me and my mom. And No, she works overnights at the hospital, so, she’s usually gone before I get home from cheer practice, and back after I’ve left for school.”
“That’s shitty.”
You chuckled bitterly, “Yeah. It’s not really her fault though. She’s doing what she can to support us.”
You realized how truly lonely you were. Even though you were “hot” and popular, most people never really cared enough to get to know you. Most of the popular crowd only cared about image and gossip, and tedded to bully others, intentionally or not. Others assumed that because you were a cheerleader you were dumb and wrote you off without ever having a conversation with you. Hell you didn’t even spend time with your mom most of the time. You made yourself dinner, did your homework without help, found your own way to school.
“Eddie,” You found yourself asking, fiddling with your chipping nail polish, “Do you think, had we not been stuck together, you would’ve taken a chance on me?”
“How do you mean?”
“Getting to know me. Talking to me beyond the latest gossip.”
He thought about it for a long moment.
“Would you have taken a chance on me?” He returned your question.
It was troubling. Would you have risked getting judged by those who were supposed to be your friends all for someone they told you was a freak? Would you have sought Eddie out, not knowing what you do now?
Finally you nodded. “I would. If I saw you alone, away from the Hellfire club, I would.”
“I’d be willing to take a chance on someone willing to chance it on me.”
You smiled softly, blinking back tears of yours.
“Tell me about DnD.” You requested, wanting to know more about the club and the game that so ostracized Eddie from everyone else. He smiled at you, explaining the general rules of the game, before launching into the campaign that he was running. You asked questions where appropriate.
He asked you about cheerleading, wondering what drew you to the sport.
“Not to get sad on you,” You chuckled, “But ever since my dad left I’ve felt so lonely with my mom having to pick up extra shifts, and Chrissy and I were always friends, she asked if I wanted to try out with her. So I did. At first, I loved the idea of belonging somewhere, being part of a group, but soon I realized that most people just care about their ‘popular’ image. I realized that they didn’t really care about me, I just made them look good, y’know? But now that’s where I belong. Y/n the cheerleader.”
“If you want, you can always join us at Hellfire.” Eddie offered, “The guys might be hesitant at first, but we take care of our own.”
“I think I’ll take you up on that.”
“Wake up,” a voice prompted you, shaking both you and Eddie slightly. “Hey, were you here all night?”
You felt a weight around your waist and warmth pressed against your back. It took your tired brain a minute to realize that you and Eddie were spooning.
“Ms. Yates?” You asked quietly, rubbing your eyes. “What time is it?”
You knew the young librarian was always here earlier than any of the rest of the staff.
“7am, dear,” The librarian helped you into a sitting position, a kind smile on her face, “Lets get you both some coffee.”
You startled Eddie awake, narrowly missing his flailing appendages.
You both sat in Ms. Yates office, as she called your parents, sipping on freshly brewed coffee.
“I am going to be taking this up with the principle, believe you me,” She said to your mother on the other line, “Absolutely unacceptable behavior from Mr. Fitz, leaving two students locked in the library.”
You were barely listening to the conversation, half asleep on Eddie’s shoulder.
After another thorough questioning from the principal, you and Eddie were excused for the day. Leaving the school with something you never thought possible. A new perspective.

❤️‍🩹 What normal or innocuous thing has their past ruined for them? Are they attempting to remedy this?
Reciprocal relationships with older adult men. Probably all sorts of them, but in this instance I’m talking about platonic/started platonically. And I use the term reciprocal for a very specific reason. He has relationships with older adult men. Some of them even good! But they have been lopsided or only going one way. And he, generally, does not try to improve them for his own benefit.
Jamie & Pep: Coach to Player. Jamie obviously respected the hell out of Pep. Cause he wouldn’t have gotten away with insubordination at all with that man. And he respected him as a coach AND as a person. Pep respected him as a player. Nothing wrong with that! It’s healthy!
But Jamie didn’t trust Pep. Otherwise he’d have discussed the concerns that led him to wanting to do Lust Conquers All. He’d have asked him point-blank if he was allowed to do so. Rather than just assume it’d be okay. (Yes, Jamie can be impulsive. But not THAT impulsive.)
Jamie & Simon: (Step)father to Son. Someone else said that while Jamie calls Simon by his name. Simon probably calls Jamie his son. And that both feels right. And is also probably pretty healthy. His dad has done a fucking number on him, so it’d make sense to resent any father figure. His dad probably was on him about Simon being too soft. And Simon stole another man’s wife. All sorts of things intended to keep Jamie from liking the man.
But we see Jamie happy enough to say hello to the man. Trusting him to lead off Keeley and Roy. He does like Simon. But he doesn’t love him. And that is okay too.
Jamie & Ted: Something to Jamie. Ted tries to be there for Jamie. He’s just bad at it. Jamie would be there for Ted but the man pretends he has no needs. Ted doesn’t coach so Jamie doesn’t learn. Honestly this is a whole bunch of ??? to ?¿? to ?!? I can’t explain it and neither can you.
Jamie & Roy: Rival to Ri Coach to Pl Friend to Friend.
Here is where we see the ‘are they attempting to remedy it?’ Because Jamie actually fights for his relationship with Roy to change. Roy hugs him after Wembley. And Jamie tries to hug him after Keeley.
Zava brings them together as a pair working towards a shared goal. Phoebe makes Jamie part of the family.
They create a friendship that IS reciprocal. They support each other, they have each other’s backs, and they still get to be who they fundamentally are as people. It is so fucking beautiful. And if it changes again? (Boyfriend to Boyfriend. Lover to Lover. Husband to Husband.) They’ll change together.
🤍 What is the most difficult moment they’ve ever supported someone through? Does that person know how hard it was on them?
Honestly I think it might be supporting Georgie as she decides she wants to Try Again. To fall in love again. To trust again. To get married again. It isn’t easy to risk yourself. And to possibly pose a risk to Jamie? Like that is big and hard and scary.
And Jamie wants her to be happy. He probably got his first real lesson on Fake It Til You Make It by saying he’s not scared of meeting her new boyfriend (that she’s serious enough to introduce them). And to say he’s happy they’re getting married. She has supported him through everything. And he loves her so very very much.
If this is the only thing that he can fully do to support her back? He is gonna find a way to fucking do it.
Maybe she doesn’t know exactly how hard it was for him to do that. But she’ll know it wasn’t easy. That he would do it, and as well as he did, is probably one of the ways she knows Simon is a good egg. Cause if Jamie actually thought the man was a bad fit or dangerous to her, he would NOT have been able to hide it at all. Love that for him.

Wheeler name meanings because I just think they're neat
Karen:
Meaning "pure"
Ironic considering her infidelity and Virginia Creel parallels. Virginia meaning "pure virgin maiden" and her being a possible antithesis to The Virgin Mary. This is all tied closely to the standard of women at the time to remain untouched before marriage and obedient to their husbands, only for women's liberation/ the sexual revolution of the 60s-80s to bring about this idea that women had sexual needs and wants too, and it doesn't make them sinful to desire such things.
Ted:
Ted is just a nickname and correct me if I'm wrong, but we don't know his actual first name. Yet, at least. He could either be Theodore (meaning "Gift of God") or Edward (made of a combination of Ead = "wealthy" "fortune" "prosperous" and Wear= "guardian" "protector").
Edward I think being more fitting given the fact that he sticks aggressively to male gender roles being the breadwinner/provider/protector of the family. However, like Karen the name is very ironic, given that Ted doesn't do much more than that. He is defined by doing the bare minimum as a father based on what a father is expected to do in a traditional society. The name is more of a cliche, an expectation, like Karen's.
Edit: Also Karen's implication that she married Ted for security and money and Edward basically translating to "wealthy protector" so yeah, that's definitely intentional.
Michael:
Meaning "who is like God" or "there is none like God".
Now this doesn't make much sense to me on its own so I did some looking into St. Michael The Archangel (as I've heard a lot of people in the fandom discussing it) and I think it's fascinating that Michael is referred to as "the heart" of the party by Will and the St. Michael is known for as the "great captain" who helped church fight against "attacks of the devil", who is often depicted with a sword as a cleric would usually be.
Nancy:
Meaning "grace" or "favor".
Again, interesting because she's hinted at to be the favored Wheeler sibling, as in up until s1 she didn't get into trouble, got good grades, and didn't need to be chastised as often as Mike over the dinner table by Karen. I don't mean this in a golden child-scapegoat way but in a 'the wheelers live in a conservative society and care about keeping up appearances' way. She's the sibling introduced with "normal" interests as opposed to Mike, that's the cliche she is based upon, however she grows much more beyond that.
Holly:
The name is a reference to the holly tree.
The holly does have Christian significance as it's used to symbolize Christmas, the thorny leaves symbolizing Jesus' crown of thornes and the berries representing his blood.
What's really interesting is that it's often confused for another plant, the mistletoe. Another part of Christmas tradition, whoever kisses under the mistletoe will be "blessed by love". Honestly when I saw a picture of a holly plant I thought to myself 'wait isn't that a mistletoe?' and was surprised to find out that actually the image in my head for what a mistletoe looked like what actually a holly (green thorny leaves with red berries).
I've seen it said a few times that Holly was most likely a child the Karen and Ted had to try to save their marriage, enforced by the fact that often when Karen and Ted are pretending to be a happy family they have Holly with them. It's very funny, maybe even purposeful, that she was named after a Christmas plant that is often confused for the other Christmas plant that actually blesses a couple with love. Karen/Ted is bones y'all 😞

Ted Lasso S2E9, Beard After Hours: What does it mean anyways?
Ok, so the Beard After Hours episode (season 2 episode 9) as a whole initially made no sense to me in terms of the story because of how cryptic and just bonkers it is, but slowly it makes more sense to me the more I rewatch it. I've rewatched it twice now and rest assured the third time, some epiphany may strike and I'll be back here to update this. Everyone seems to dislike this episode, and honestly I understand but there's also something truly fascinating about it. It's like an episode from a whole other show, even the title track sounds different, because this episode is meant to be an episode from Beard's life. This is what Beard's life looks like when he isn't with Ted, which is what the writers have said they were trying to portray. It's a speedbump of an episode where we watch him go through a wringer of a fever dream with no characters we know except the lads from the bar (I love calling them that) and Jamie's dad of all people, and you're left wondering why was this HERE and what does this mean in the context of season 2's overall story? Honestly...I have no idea, but it's fascinating to try and figure out. What I am starting to get a bit of a clue in on though is what this means for Beard's character arc.
Something I want to zero in on first is Beard dropping his keys over and over, something that I knew meant something the first time but I couldn't figure out what. Beard repeatedly drops his keys haphazardly, and there's always someone nicely giving them back to him in the night only for him to drop them again. This represents Beard being caught in a cycle where he struggles to accept help from people who care about him, and thus remains in his cycle. With the implications by the writers that this is what his life is like after work, we can assume he goes through something similar every night- a cycle. We find out more about Beard at the end of season 3, when he tells Nate about stealing Ted's car when Ted helped him (a bit like Zuko in season 2 of ATLA actually), even though he didn't exactly have a reason to steal the car if Ted let him into his house willingly- the main possible reason I can think of would be to get away and not have to need Ted for help. If he has Ted's car, he can go out and live his life by himself, right? With no help needed. There's a sort of expectation in that, that he can't rely on other people- which is actually why he ends up spending a majority of the night alone. He shows up to Bones and Honey with Baz, Paul and Jeremy and then leaves them to go to a room where he hallucinates being insulted by Thierry Henry (which is both sad and hilarious). He meets and leaves the woman, he meets and parts with her husband, he meets up with the lads from the bar again and doesn't join them further, and so on. Even though he had good reasons to leave for the most part (getting chased by a raging and strong man for instance), nobody in his night remains constant EXCEPT his hallucinations of the football pundits with special emphasis on Thierry Henry. They judge him, pressure him about losing the Man City match 5-nil, and make light of his deepest insecurities so he can simultaneously wallow in them by himself but ignore them by seeking the short but eventful company of other people. He wants to escape his thoughts instead of talking them out or being vulnerable with anyone else, so he does all this crazy stuff, only to end up alone and confronted by them anyways.
In regards to Beard and Jane, I have some complicated feelings about their relationship and it can atleast be considered unhealthy, but Jane does truly represent something good for him here and in his perspective, she is what he needs. At the beginning of the night, he refuses to join her because they were arguing beforehand. She apologises, does tell him she loves him, then gets angry with him and stuff via text throughout the night. I think Beard spending the entire night miserable accompanied by people coming and going until he meets Jane says a lot, because it's only when meeting him that he relaxes and dances a bit, and seems to genuinely have fun. In allowing himself to rely on Jane, to have fun and to see the world a bit brighter because of his love for her, he cuts himself a break (as is represented by Thierry Henry smiling at him with no comments). His keys have broken, and he's locked out of his house, yet you forget that for just a little bit because all he sees is her. It's in the camera framing when he sees her and everything. She is really intense and he matches her intensity, which may be comforting for him in a way, as it's not him being reliant but them being codependant on each other. Just as obsessed as he is with her, she is with him: she texts him like 90 messages just because he is absent from text for a little bit, and he has her on video call during his boss's dad's funeral. Everyone sees their relationship as a bad idea, and while I agree, I can see why he doesn't think of it as such, because their codependancy is something that makes him feel better, subconsciously or consciously. With her, he is never alone and both of them rely on each other almost as much as the other, putting them both at the same level of vulnerability if turned away or rejected.
Beard's arc with Jane perhaps echoes Nate's arc with Jade a bit- they both feel less vulnerable and alone with their significant others. This is a bit of a stretch (this is just one lens to look at it, and I definitely don't think this perfectly encapsulates all of Nate's arc), but maybe it makes them feel a little more secure in being able to care for someone without fear of not being cared for with the same level of intensity and need, or without fear of being misunderstood or underestimated. Nate gets over these fears when asking Jade out, fretting about it until she said yes and on the way to realising he didn't have to be so scared of rejection, and Beard developes a relationship with Jane that relies on both of their needs matching each other's. It hence makes sense that Beard would be the one who is subtly paralleled with Nate (especially before season 3's finale when he forgives him), as someone who did the effective wrong thing once and has since realised Ted just-- is nice. That sometimes people care about you, and that's just that. Beard is the one who calls Nate out in season 2 for his needless cruelty, and privately reprimands him, telling him to tell the truth or apologise when being overly harsh and judgemental. Beard is the one attempting to give Nate chances and Beard's the one angry when Nate doesn't take them, because Beard is growing to realise that reliance isn't something that automatically disappoints and sees Nate pulling away from everyone else in his anger and feelings of abandonment. Beard seems to have a tendency to pull away too, but he knows now he can rely on Ted and (kind-of) on Jane, so he knows Nate actively engaging in this behaviour is harmful to himself and the people who care about him. This is...just theory, and maybe it really isn't that deep- especially all this Nate stuff- but it's interesting to consider that maybe they were meant to have some parallels, and it's an interesting angle to look at Beard's character.
That's all I can really muster up about now, but there's always more layers if you're looking for them, and I bet there's more than meets the eye when it comes to Beard even after the 2nd watch. Heck, if I come up with enough more next time, maybe I'll make a part 2 or something. Till then, peace!
