It was an interview full of "right now" and "at this moment" from both Ryan and Tim. I'm genuinely wondering why the freak out from everyone? Interviews are always, ALWAYS, answered and arranged for the current episode/arc. People do know that right? No one, even the PR dorks that are Oliver and Ryan, are ever going to say "so yeah, Eddie is going to propose to his girlfriend but have a near death experience near the season finale that will change everything and he will shout his love for Buck." That interview is literally never going to happen. And honestly him proposing makes a ton of sense from a story standpoint. It's technically everything he claims he wants, so how does Eddie react when things still don't feel right? If the storyline is headed toward a relationship with Buck, and it genuinely does feel like that, Eddie seemingly getting everything he's ever wanted and still feeling off is the perfect introduction to that. I'm stupidly stunned every time by the unhinged break downs after every fucking interview.

To be fair, anxiety is a very real issue for a lot of people (me being one of them, it doesn’t take much to send me spiraling) and in fact i am a catastrophizer… i see something and immediately jump to the worst conclusions about it and only then do i sit back and put thought into it.

I don’t like to post when i’m catastrophizing because all it does is stirs even more panic and anxiety, but others find it easier to post their panic/spiraling so that hopefully others may he able to offer a different point of view to talk them down from their panic. mental health is one bicth of a human condition.

so while yes, it is definitely jarring to see people panicking, i try to remain gracious to those who are spiraling because i understand the panic that sets in and the urgency for someone to tell you that everything is okay.

as far as knowing the ins and outs of how television and pr works; unfortunately a lot of people are not educated on how things like this go because we live in an age where weekly episodic releases like this are becoming less and less common as binge culture has become the hot commodity, especially for streaming services. with that there comes a level of misunderstanding of how the industry works and has worked in the past, especially for a younger audience. so a lot of viewers are used to having the whole story handed to them all at once, rather than the intensive speculation and uncertainty that comes with network tv.

i myself having worked in film and theatre have firsthand experience with PR and the media and how to keep things under wraps (i am by NO WAY an insider, i have worked on student/college/indie films and have had zero involvement in the commercial film industry) and i STILL sometimes struggle from that initial shock of reading something that seemingly doesn’t bode well for what you want to see from a television show.

so all of that to say is i understand it can be jarring and at times even annoying to see the catastrophizing and spiraling, but it helps me to step back and take a breath to remind myself to give some grace to people who may not have as much of an understanding of how things like this work as i do.

honestly it's wild to me how much the fandom has grown since i joined! when i first got into them, there were only 2 fics on ao3 and now there are almost 30? i love the boom in creativity 🥹🥹 anyway here are a few of my favorites:

you look good in my shirt by agender_adrastea - a quintessential fic in the fandom. it takes the very real event of joe wearing ja'marr's jersey and delves into a good backstory of how they could have gotten to the point, starting in college.

Not Your Average Joe and A Tiger of a Different Stripe by DLS - these two are super fun because they explore the idea of ja'marr not going to LSU in the first place, and only becoming teammates with joe after being drafted to the bengals. very much a "i'd love you in any universe" type of idea.

run pass option by espn - this is a short, sexy one shot based on some fanart that came out last summer and deals with the calf injury (but, again, in a sexy way 🙂)

so scarlet it was maroon by tulowitzki - a slightly angsty, sweet little piece based on the aftermath of the 2022 afc championship loss. (ironically titled after a taylor swift lyric way before she somehow became the face of the nfl this season lmao)

that's just a few, but all the fics in the fandom definitely have something to offer! and i really hope we continue to grow because god! there's just so much potential here!

Honestly, not to be rude, but this is Illumi, he wouldn't care about the relationship as much as his business or family. If he needs to leave you behind for more important matters he will. But when he really knows he's in love with you, he needs to protect you at all times and you really do mean something to him, but just not as highly as you would think unfortunately.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

He's definitely the dominant one in the relationship. He honestly acts like he owns you LMFAOOOO (but finds it hot when you make it clear that he doesnt own you). He will always be the one to take you on dates and be the leading one in the relationship

hi it's me the kuervo lore anon back back again with a WALL OF TEXT and also pirates spoilers but those are pretty obvious.

starting with his Tragic Backstory™ everything about him makes so much more sense when you realize he's just shadow the hedgehog spanish dub. ie raised as the specialest child soldier ever, idolized older sibling got killed by the government, now he's on an epic bloody revenge quest and there's these blue guys trying to teach him about the power of friendship but he doesn't care. said revenge quest is also where he lost his eye btw, and his eyepatch and rings are sort of fucked up trophies.

his self image is Messed Up bc of all that. he hypes himself up in his mind like he's some amazing folk hero (in-universe he literally calls chat his "adoring fans". which. ya got me.) and then you realize that's absolutely a front so he doesn't have to think about the murders. he's paranoid as fuck about the other pirates finding out his whole deal but such a horrible liar that he seriously considers yet another murder. but he's just a silly little guy he's done nothing wrong ever in his life why would you even think about him like that.

characterization wise kuervo's got a strong sense of justice which got him in this mess in the first place. he's quick to jump to insults or casual threats and even quicker to just laugh it off (ignore the sword it's just a joke bro!!). he's not super vain but definitely cares about his appearance. there's a very good chance all that eyeliner hides some impressive eyebags. he doesn't talk much but hangs around on the edge of conversations listening to gossip like he's at the movies with a metaphorical bucket of popcorn. he's an insanely good shot but refuses to touch guns (except in life or death situations) to the point of getting jumpy when other pirates pull guns for whatever reasons. he's the type of guy to keep a knife under his pillow (that isn't canon but it's close enough). despite being in the murder faction he doesn't take bounties (one of his only trips to the bounty guild ended with eret killing a guy and getting exiled bc of his bad advice). there's actually so few kites toward the end of the server that he just hangs out with the nightingales despite calling them a bunch of losers once.

one time he crashed bek's ship on a deserted island. he's the only pirate to get away with swearing in front of owen bc he does it in spanish. he's made peace with the fact his epic revenge quest's probably going to end with him dead, but he refuses to die on any other terms than his own. he's lonely as hell but he keeps everybody at arm's length bc he knows he'll have to leave someday soon. he got kidnapped once and immediately resorted to talking to a bunch of fish. he's even aroace

Obsessed actually.

I'm. Honestly pretty hyped that I got the right vibe around him and I'm even more hyped to be able to read about him.

If there's more solid-stuff about Kuervo's background, I'd love to hear. Unless it's like. Purposely a bit shrouded I just loved reading all this.

I'm probably gonna re-read this about 20 times honestly. Thank you for the Lore Dump, I'll be eating it all promptly

💘 fake relationship / mutual pining / dared to kiss

“Alright, Fire Fist,” Haruta said, turning his attention to the young man in question. “You’re up next. Truth or dare?”

“Dare.” Leaning back with his hands locked behind his head, Ace flashed the surrounding group his most cocky grin. “And don’t make it a lame one, either. Do your worst; I can handle it.”

The participating Whitebeard Pirates let out a collective “oooooh!!”

“Don’t let your mouth write cheques you can’t cash, Ace!” Thatch said with a chuckle.

“Oh, c’mon. How bad could it be?” Ace replied with a shrug. “Last time, I literally ate something that Teach licked. It can’t get worse than that.”

“Hmm…” Haruta’s brows puzzled together, seeming to take Ace’s words as a challenge. He tapped a finger against his chin, deep in thought. Suddenly, his expression lit up. “Wait! I’ve got it.” A smirk rose to the Twelfth Division Commander’s lips. “Ace… I think I’ve found your one weakness.”

“Weakness?” Ace laughed confidently. “What, you want me to jump into the ocean? Cuz one of you’s gonna have to go pull me out.”

“No, no. This is far more dangerous than that.” A wicked glint flashed through Haruta’s eyes. “I dare you… to kiss Yara.”

Ace’s grin immediately vanished, heat flaring to his cheeks. His entire body suddenly felt as if it was burning; a sensation entirely unlike using his Devil Fruit. Those flames he could own; could control as if they were mere extensions of himself, bending to his whim. No, this heat was unpredictable and all-consuming, threatening to swallow him whole and leave nothing but a shattered heart amidst a pile of ashes. He wasn’t sure if there was anything that could actually burn fire, but if there was, he was certain it would feel something like this.

The chorus of “oooohs!!” only crescendoed, compounded by raucous laughter, the other pirates immensely enjoying the Second Division Commander’s discomfort.

Ace laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head. “Okay. Ha ha. Very funny. Now give me a real dare.”

But Haruta’s eyes only narrowed. “That was it,” he stated, crossing his arms. “Kiss Yara. I’m dead serious.”

“C’mon, Ace!!” Curiel shouted. “You said you’d do anything!!”

“Yeah!” Jiru grinned. “Give her a kiss already; we know you’ve been dying to!!”

A pit opened in Ace’s stomach as he came to the realization that the other Division Commanders weren’t going to simply let up. But for Yara’s sake… He shook his head emphatically. “Guys, no. That’s not fair. I can’t do that.”

“Why not?”

The familiar voice grabbed his attention. Butterflies burst into his stomach as his gaze met the beautiful heterochromatic eyes that belonged to none other than the object of his affection. Yara sat down on a deck chair across from him, having just returned from refilling her mug. She balanced it on her lap, crossing one of her long, slender legs over the other.

“It’s-- I-- Because…” he stammered, his face going even redder. “I just-- I can’t.”

Yara merely stared back at him, shrugging her shoulders. “It’s only a game, Ace. I don’t mind.” Taking a sip of her beverage, she placed it down on the ground next to her.

“Do it!!” Blamenco egged him on.

Ace desperately turned to Marco for help, hoping that the level-headed First Division Commander would put him out of his misery, but Marco’s lips twitched into an amused smile instead. “What’re you waiting for? She said she’s okay with it, yoi.”

The crowd was full-on chanting now. “Kiss her!! Kiss her!! Kiss her!!”

Ace sighed. He was doomed either way. Shakily, he stood up, trying to ignore the cheers as he made his way across the deck and knelt down in front of her. His palms began to sweat, small licks of fire bursting off of his body.

“Oooh, someone’s nervous!!” Thatch teased.

“Shut it!” Ace snapped at him before turning his gaze towards Yara.

He swallowed, his stomach twisting into knots. She really was the picture of loveliness, her long violet hair swept over her shoulder, golden hoop earrings glinting in the evening light. Her eyes-- one deep chocolate brown, the other ringed gold and piercing, like a hawk’s-- met his. The weight of those three words he’d been wanting to say to her since forever rested uncomfortably on the tip of his tongue, his heartbeat thumping hard and fast, as if it would burst through his ribcage at any second. But perhaps it would be fine if it did. It belonged to her, anyway.

Ace began to lean in, the intoxicating scent of her vanilla lotion overwhelming him, his mind going hazy. Yara paralleled his movements, her head tilting at a slight angle. His hand rose, cradling the side of her face, his fingers tracing her jawline. Their noses brushed against each other as his eyes fluttered shut. The warmth of her breath ghosted against his lips, flooding his senses with desire.

Yara…

You have no idea how much you mean to me…

How long I’ve wanted you…

But…

He stopped, his breath hitching.

No. Not like this.

Ace’s eyes opened. Gently turning her head, he leaned forward and pecked her on the cheek.

Boos rang out from the crowd as he pulled away, stepping back to give Yara her space. Surprise flickered across her face as her hand rose to her cheek, lightly touching where he had given her the kiss.

“C’mon, do it properly!!”

“Don’t chicken out!!”

“Hey, the dare was just to kiss her!” Ace snapped at them, picking up a balled-up napkin someone had tossed at him and throwing it right back into the crowd. “Haruta didn’t specify where!!”

He turned back to Yara, giving her a lopsided grin. “Sorry about that. I know they suck.”

But the look on Yara’s face was not one of relief; instead, he could’ve sworn he saw hurt flash through her eyes.

Her expression quickly hardened. “It’s fine,” she said coldly. “I’ve had enough of this childish game, anyways.”

Ace’s heart sank as she grabbed her beer and strode away, heading for the living quarters. Had he really made her so uncomfortable, just with a kiss on the cheek? Or was there something else? His shoulders drooping, he made his way back over to his spot and plopped down next to Marco. He had decided long ago to live without regret, but…

Pressing his face into his hands, he let out a massive sigh. What the hell had he just done?

I absolutely love when Jason gets angry with the way people treats Dick, when we wants to tear people open because they keep giving his boyfriend more work, when he plans to take Dick away from the ones who are ungrateful to him, when he yells back and bite anyone who treats his pretty bird badly, we all know Dick can do it himself, Jason know that too, but he doesn't care, he wants to protect Dick, it's a love language

Dick is so ready to carry the whole world on his shoulders. Like sure, he gets angry and vicious—he’s no wilting flower, but. When it comes to the people he cares about, he’ll bend over backwards to make them happy. It’s the worst with Bruce—maybe the other bats in general, but Bruce the most.

He’ll take and take and take whatever Bruce gets him, all the way up to his breaking point—and maybe a little bit past.

Jason’s just as bad (they all are) but he’ll never admit it. At least HE lashes out, at least he stands up for himself some of the time. With Dick it’s only other people.

Who stands up for him??

The answer is Jason, obviously.

He doesn’t care if that leaves him labeled as unstable, vicious, venomous, or even as a villain. If it means Dick gets to rest then—well.

every so often i reread all of your if the door wasn't shut series, just because it's my literal favorite thing i've ever read <3

i always love thinking about the what ifs because the whole series is so so good as you wrote it and you just put so many things into it that open up so many other thoughts and it just hits every single good spot in my brain

and i always think back to those posts you made about what if it was the reader instead joel in part two, because that was such an awesome and devastating thought. but today i was thinking about it and i was thinking what if it was still joel, and what would the reader look like after that, you know? like how would she deal with that for herself, and also how would she feel about tommy and ellie leaving? OR would she have gone too? i don't think she would have, but that's just me. i'm just very stuck on thinking about what the reader's relationships with ellie and tommy would look like during and after part two

her relationship with joel was never going to be the same, no matter what he said or did, that’s fact! we know this! but after joel dies, i honestly think r would feel guilty. i mean, this guy practically raised her for years. she loves him. and she can’t help but hate herself for the resentment she always felt towards him through those years. she was valid in feeling that way, obviously, but she feels guilty over it nonetheless.

i sometimes think about what if it had been her instead of or alongside ellie who found joel in that basement. i think she wouldve wanted revenge on those people, but i don’t think she would’ve been able to go and get it. maybe if she was there, the likelihood would absolutely have been higher for her just up and leaving like ellie and tommy did, but i don’t think she could bring herself to do that to maria or jesse - and that’s because of joel. she doesn’t ever want to do to them what he did to her, and so she would probably be able to stay.

would she have hated herself for it? maybe. would she have thought about the people who killed him for the rest of her life? absolutely. would she have felt guilty forever for letting them get away? without a doubt.

i think ellie leaving, reader would understand. she would feel the same compulsion ellie did, but reader had always had less fight in her compared to ellie.

but tommy? tommy leaving jackson? nope. she’d go mad. she would go insane at him. joel lived the rest of his days regretting leaving her behind at jackson, and tommy knew that. so why would he leave her? and after seeing the damage joel leaving did to her? it would upset her to an extent i can’t even explain. AND it would easily have maria kicking him out, throwing her wedding ring in his face the moment he returned, even with his injuries.

now, there are two scenarios here. jesse goes after ellie, we know this. what would reader do?

first scenario, and what i think is possibly more likely, she would go with him. now hear me out, ok, i know this doesn’t go with what i’ve previously said, but this is jesse. this is her best friend. she’s had to save his ass before, and god knows how guilty she felt about that. so what if something happened to him out there? she would never forgive herself. so, she would talk to maria. she would have a conversation. and when she would come back, she’d be back with jesse, or maybe, not at all. because i don’t think reader would handle abby killing joel and jesse. i don’t think she’d give abby the choice of letting her live or not. it would be abby or the reader, and that would be it. but in all honesty, i love r and i think she could save jesse because i am delusional and that is too much angst even for me 😇

second scenario, she would stay behind. there are zero ways that jesse would leave without telling her. ZERO. but i think there could be a world where the reader just wouldn’t be able to leave jackson, that old fear from back when she was travelling with joel and ellie could come back full force, and hadn’t she already lost enough? i think in this scenario, jesse might just convince her to stay. i think he would enlist maria’s help, too. they’re probably the only ones who could convince the reader of anything. now, if reader didn’t go, we know what happens. jesse wouldn’t come back. i don’t think she’d be able to forgive tommy, ellie or dina for that. even though she knows it wasn’t exactly their fault, there would be resentment there that she just couldn’t shake. after all, jesse left for them, right? because they couldn’t let go of the exact thing that got joel killed. the only thing i think would stop r going full no contact with them would be jj. there would be no world where she would let jesse’s son grow up without being involved. just no way. and you better know she’d be visiting jj every damn weekend to tell him stories of his dad. and in this situation, i think that after ellie would leave dina, dina would go to the reader. they would raise jj together, because she would never turn her back on that kid. never. and dina knew that.

so, all in all, she’d resent them. she’d understand them to a certain extent, but i don’t think she would be able to go after abby like they did.

during part two, she would have a far better relationship with joel than ellie did anyway, and therefore a better understanding of him. don’t get me wrong, it still wouldn’t be great, but it was something. she would be able to see that joel wouldn’t want this for them, for any of them. he felt guilty enough for everything he had done, everything he had put them through, and he certainly wouldn’t want them losing everything to avenge him. he just wouldn’t.

basically - there are a whole lot of ways this situation could go, and i think you guys could think of even more. there’s no set ending for this series, which is one of my favourite things about it. we can all think of our own endings for it, and i love that :’)

also, i think the fact it could go just about any way just emphasis that she is human!!! humans are not always predictable, and they do not always deal with things the same way. and given that a very present theme throughout the games is being human and what that means and how it shows and how you stay human even in incredible situations is just :’) pretty cool idk

You see, I always got this impression that Paxton was in a way a ticket for Devi to feel self validated. He was the popular guy, the unattainable. She was physically attracted to him so the perfect fantasy and that’s Devi in a nutshell when she starts the series. She wants the dream of being popular because she thinks that outside validation (that she gets through Paxton) will give her the love she wants to feel for herself. So Devi walking away to follow Paxton at the party reflected her priorities at the moment. It was accurate for her arc.

Then, she got to date him and she archived *that dream* and yet she wasn’t happy or fulfilled. She realized that she cannot seek validation from outside forces and while Paxton was the one to break up with her I think she was able to get over him so quickly because she finally got to know what it feels to be popular and to date him and it wasn’t the life changing thing she thought it would be. She liked him but she was not in love with him. He fitted into the part of Devi that wanted to be popular but does not align with her new dreams anymore.

Sea was a means to and end. I think it allowed Devi to move on from Paxton but also figure out what she wants from a relationship. I like that in both relationships Ben was still a constant in her life.

Lastly, Ben is someone that aligns a lot more with who Devi truly is. Her new dream that is not longer about wanting to feel loved by external factors and she knows she is enough for Ben as she is and not what she thinks should be.

Anon this is the most correct thing anyone has ever left in my inbox. I also feel like her wanting to date Paxton was 1. To be “popular” and 2. In her own words, “be a normal girl that could actually have a boyfriend”. So yes she wanted to have that sort of validation but also she was looking to distract herself from her grief and all the things that made her “not normal”.

Also to add on a little bit to that last part, the reason why Ben was able to remain a constant in Devi’s life is because they are friends. They genuinely like each other and have so much in common. Like their relationship is best friends who are in love with each other and it’s amazing.

Hi!! I'm curious as to the main inspirations for your artstyle is? It has great cartoony vibes I really like it (smth about its vibes really reminds me of a cartoon called detentionaire in particular? I'm not sure what tho asides from the general aesthetic)

Hi hi! My default artstyle is pretty much an amalgamation of what I liked (I like both animes and cartoons) but I can't deny it totally leans heavily on cartoony sides hhh. I never heard of Detentionaire and decided to check it out and I think I'll watch it one day since I dont really have the time to do so rn _(:3」∠)_

I referred a lot to early 00s cartoons like PPG and Clone High since both are my favourite shows (although I didnt bother to finish S2 of Clone High because.... yeah) so both are a big influence for my art style in general.

Most of the time, I based them off PPG Movie like ugh I have so many words to describe how much I adore this movie and I have dedicated a ridiculous amount of time to this series but anyway I really love how they manage to translate the PPG character designs into digital animation (since the original was made traditionally) so beautifully like everyone is so much angular and since they have so many budgets for the movie, they added gradients and color balance each scenes. This movie means so much to me art wise because I just never thought that just by adding gradients to such a simple looking art makes it so prettier so I just started doing gradients after I watched this movie lol

My other art inspiration is definitely Jeluto! She drew so many anime characters in this art style and I just love how each character she drew just fits their personality and appearance 💗💗💗

But if you want a more specific term for this kind of artstyle, the name for this art style that a lot of cartoon from this era you see in the late 90s-early 00s (My life as a Teenage Robot, Fairly Odd Parents, Dexter's Lab, El-Tigre, etc) is widely known as UPA Artstyle! There's a really interesting blog post explaining this art style in general that people should read :3
