Re: Cloaksforall sewalong!
I'm a sewing teacher at my day job, and I deal with all kinds of different mechanical and computerized sewing machines. If there's anything I can help with re: sewing machine questions, I'd be happy to put something together!
Wonderful, thank you so much!

Since it's January, I just want to remind you that you have no obligation, moral or otherwise, to become more attractive/skilled/healthy/well-read/acceptable/perfect/whatever. You can give it a go if you want, and it might be fulfilling, but if this time of year just makes you obsess about all the ways you think you suck or other people are judging you, consider just...not trying to improve yourself. The only things you really truly should do this year are survive and be kind to yourself and others. Everything else is extra.

Gotta love how the entire Poptropica fandom just agreed that the food stand worker is Edgar's mom

Oooh, very interesting bit from a recent panel Rob and Moe did where they were asked to do the Doug Walker bit from a few years ago and declined. I think most in the fandom are aware of it, but if you aren’t, like 8 years ago or so Doug (Nostalgia Critic) approached them and had them read script where the mice cuss at each other and Brain says he hates Pinky, who then cries, ect. To quote them (note: quotes have been cut down for time)
Rob: “The one thing I’ve learned...is that the extend to which these characters attach themselves to people’s hearts and souls, like I never really knew. And they’re so precious to so many people that it is not appropriate for us to um..” Moe: “They’re not our characters-”
Rob: “We don’t own them. Firstly, in a practical sense, they’re owned by Warner Brothers and Amblin. But in a greater, more important sense, they’re owned by everybody around the world who loves them.”
Moe: “It’s not the same as Rick and Morty, who have established themselves as this irreverent pair. We can hear dirty words come out of Rick and Morty’s mouths and you can sign on to that from the beginning....I have to tell you as far as Doug was concerned, I had no idea how far reaching his audience was. I just thought we would do a little internet thing, 7 people would see it, let’s help this guy out...I loved the idea in the moment, at the time, we were going to get a little bit blue with these characters. But had I known how many people would write, as Rob said, “you just destroyed my childhood”, I saw that comment and I went -winces- “ooh..”
Rob: “Yea. And they were right.” Moe: “Seeing maybe 10 comments thinking it was great, it was genius, but then one comment and then another like that...we shouldn’t ought to have done it.”
Aah, I thought it was so interesting to hear them say that. Partly because they, to this day, have not cut back on using dirty words and making dirty jokes at all. Even in this very panel they do it a ton (they go on about Brain keeping Pinky’s testicles in the fridge. Apparently they regenerate). But I think, what made the Doug Walker thing so different, was that it depicted the mice as being so aggressively cruel to each other and cursing at each other. Which is a different vibe than what they normally do. And a different vibe than Brain’s usual meanness. They do talk a lot about how important it is that at their core, that the mice love each other. I guess they really regret doing something that implied otherwise, even that one time. That’s incredibly sweet of them.
Here’s the whole panel

8 dives in 3 days.. that's crazy. I went inside huge WWII shipwrecks, a going through small rusted vents entering huge chambers in darkness. Accompanied by a bunch of colourful fished and corals. Also saw a barracuda and a stonefish. A predator and a really poisioness one. Tomorrow will be the fourth day to and will get my 2 certificates. 10 or 11 dives in total im so tired.

I’m going to blow some minds with groundbreaking information for Tumblr.com this morning.
If you want to support women’s sports, you need to actually invest in them. You need to buy tickets to their games. You need to show up and support the athletes and team. Help them with fundraisers, sponsor them if you’re in a position to do so, and volunteer to help in the stadiums/arenas/etc.
Reblogging/whining about women’s sports not getting the attention you think they deserve not only does nothing, it actively deters interest for people who may be lukewarm on sports in general. People are also exhausted of half-baked, obnoxious “activism” and it’s the last thing they want to see and hear when they attend a sporting event. They do so to unwind and escape; de-stress. They want to have fun.
If you want to support female athletes, you have to support them in the same, equal way that male athletes are supported by fans. Honestly, most of them don’t want it to be political either--they’re just happy people are showing up for them. This is true at the high school level, the collegiate level, professional, and Olympic.
Turn thought into action and go.
