HI. not a hazbin fan myself HOWEVER I am the Character Redesigner and I've wanted to redesign alastor FOREVER..... notes under the cut

gave him a dried blood/liver colour scheme

bone coloured accents to really lean into his theme and make him visually different from other characters

antlers more noticeable!!! they'd still grow when he gets Scary

really played into the idea of him being a carnivorous deer, that idea was so cool and I wish it was explored more visually

his staff is more recognisable as a radio device!! specifically an old fashioned one

kept the pinstripes in his original design but moved them to the pants

his bow tie is distinct from the rest of that area of his design!! in his original design it really gets lost in all the patterns and similar colours I feel

made him REALLY tall. like 7-8ft because its fun and scary

gave him glasses and not just a monocle. I think it suits him and the red lenses are more noticeable now!!

The "Alastor likes to gossip like an old lady" headcanon gave me the idea of Elise picking this up from him just 'cause she sees him (and some of his lady friends) do it often.

He doesn't mind it that much but also she shocks him sometimes with what she hears. Anyway it was one of their ways of bonding as father and daughter.

Could Alastor be good?

Ok we all know he was a killer and a cannibal when he was alive, overall not what you would classify as a good guy, he is in hell for a reason after all...BUT there is something fishy about him: his moral code is a total mistery and everyone has been wondering whether he actually cares or not about the Hotel and Charlie.

Now, do I believe he is secretly a total sweetheart? No absolutely not but I do believe he is more caring than he lets to believe and Episode 5 shows that perfectly.

First off I believe his rivalry with Lucifer goes beyond jealousy, because if it really was just that he wouldn't have been quiet and accepting during Lucifer and Charlie's duet. Also the "sadly there are times a birth parent is a dud" line and his sweetness towards females...in the episode about daddy issues...mhhh are you hiding some as well Alastor?

Then Mimzy comes and says how much hell is scared of Alastor, how powerful he is and how many overlords he has tortured, nothing we didn't know...but why? Why target only overlords? Why target heavy hitters? If he really was that powerful from the start he could just collect random desperate souls in no time like Valentino per say but no, he chose to go after really bad overlords and I don't think he only did it for fame. He was cleansing, he was getting rid of bad souls undeserving of power. I know as of now it sounds like a stretch but why keep Husk alive if he only cared about hitting overlords, why listen to his advise about Mimzy and most importantly WHY does he know Alastor is on a leash. Husk is clearly a very caring person, a sensitive guy, we don't know what kind of overlord he used to be but I don't believe he was ever considered one of the most evil of the bunch. Alastor targeted big guys, bad guys. I am not saying they are friends but Alastor certainly values him in some (twisted) way.

I also keep thinking about the comic that was released about him a while back: why are you eating people and then protecting that lamb I just...he is such a mistery, he can't just be a twisted guy he hides something, some motivation we don't know, some goal that has yet to be revealed.

And then what about the Episode 7 sneak peak in which he says he hides behind his smile...

Idk where I am going with this I just think he is a very very very interesting character and yes I am curious to know who has him on a leash as everyone else is but to be honest I am mostly eager to know what kind of motive has pushed him to sign that contract and why does that bother him so much, why he is the way he is and what are his intentions with the Hotel.

I think he cares and I can't wait to find out why.

I just noticed, in your HHStargazers AU no one has pupils - except for Alastor and, if she's canon, Carmilla. Does that mean slit pupils are a sign of a demon in disguise?

Good eye! 👈👈👀 (Pun unintended.) Though I don't really plan for this trait to be repeatedly shared amongst the disguised demons. Mostly to not limit my designs to an obvious tell. But the slit pupils were indeed intentional flaws I added in for those two in particular. Because according to MY headcanon, both angels and demons are beings beyond human comprehension. Thus, it's only to be expected that even when they TRY to fit in, they'll be unable to keep EVERY aspect of their uncanny nature concealed. At best, they're imperfect imitations of what "normal" should be. It just so happens that in my AU, angels have a much easier time concealing most of their little quirks and oddities away than the sinners for my own reasons and as for WHY no one ever grew suspicious of the eye thing, it's because Charlie's curiosity could be easily curved. While for Lucius to point this out, he'll have to admit that he's been staring at Alastor's eyes a lot whenever he gets close enough to drown in the depths of his gaze and- EHEM!!! Which he's NEVER done, mind you! AhahaHAH- What slit pupils??? Never noticed those before. Nuh-uh. NO siree. NOPE! Lucius is normally so, SO normal about Alastors VERY much normal eyes in a TOTALLY normal amount of normal. A-ANYWAAAYS!!! Lucius would also be a hypocrite if he was bothered by them considering his own occupation and the people he's usually surrounded by (yet to be revealed). As for the other humans, Alastor doesn't care enough about their opinions for it to be a threat to him and people often just avoid the guy unnerving them with his creepy ass stare. So it's all good!
