I just finished listening to Elliot Page's book and I have to say it was an interesting piece of literature. I highly highly recommend it.
I have never read a book that is so closely aligned with myself as a trans man and my upbringing. I never thought I would read book that defines what it means to be a trans man in the public eye. I do not want to be as famous as him but I would like to make a change to the world as he has.
I am comfortable in who I am and who I love and how I choose to express my gender. Things really can and often do get better with time. And I hope that any person that sees this knows that they are not trapped in the shoes that society has put them in and they can actively choose a different pair.
I would love to read Pageboy soon; these memoirs and other art and literature are our history, part of our lifeblood as a community, and it's vital that we read each other's lives and understand that we truly are here in this world💛
It's great to read such a glowing review from you, and I'm so happy that his words lit your soul like it has
Personally speaking if I had to pick one rairpair out of the entire hellaverse I would want to see canon it would be Velvette x Verosica but man it is going to be the most lavish, fluffy, intensely intimate, passionate, rancid & disastrous 24/7 trending full blown shitstorm hell has ever seen I don't think anyone is going to be ready. Not even these two. Dear god especially not these two.
Man Verosica is just 2 for 1 on short gremlin kings who are also coincidentally emotionally constipated walking talking sacks of untreated mental illnesses wrapped up in 3 layers of intimacy issues isn't she but hey at least this one's pretty much guaranteed never to steal your credit card for horse riding lessons and most definitely won't be caught one ring down in wrath in the middle of fuck knows where with said credit card so.... yay improvement?
musicals that are fully and truly about normal people making normal mistakes living normal lives that for some reason resonate so hard that I can't stop thinking about them:
R&H Allegro (but specifically the reimagining that my college did that was so good I seriously considered taking a bootleg of it to watch over and over again)
The Imagination Movers episode 'Slam Dunk Solution'
Which was about the Movers installing a basketball hoop in the Idea Warehouse and all the Movers can't wait to play basketball, except for Smitty, who makes up an excuse that he can't play because he has to water his plants.
I enjoyed a Smitty-centered episode since you don't get many of those throughout the series. I have been writing Imagination Mover stories and this ep just confirms how Smitty can act.
That sounds wrong. Let me explain. Smitty talks openly to Warehouse Mouse because he knows he can trust him. (Pointing out that Warehouse Mouse was the first to really go up and question Smitty's acts knowing that Smitty would talk to him.) Not saying that Smitty doesn't trust the others (he does eventually tell them...more so to Rich) but Smitty will talk more about how's he's feeling one-on-one. By the looks of things and a moment between him and Rich (also Nina too), he's more comfortable sharing his worries with a smaller group of people out of feeling insecure/ worried. I think that little detail that little rep of someone feeling more comfortable talking one-on-one with somebody is fabulous. As someone who prefers that method of communication when it's something like that, it speaks to me. Makes me feel seen.
Adding this episode to my "relatable ep" collection because I find myself to be like Smitty self-conscious of what others will think of me when I do many things (even if I know what I'm doing.) I know it's a normal thing to experience but it's comforting to see it in a character such as Smitty (I look up to him... a little).
