there's a rush of blood when you go this fast
when you're up against it, I got your back
they say that good things just don't last
but I'll say this
Behold my latest project! My beloved mutual @accidental-spice recommended this song to me, and I couldn't help but make a percabeth edit with it! Reblogs are appreciated, but please do not repost this video or reuse these clips in another video! I'll post a description of the video for those with screenreaders and my taglist under the cut!
The above video is of clips of Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, mostly taken from the Disney+ Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, incorporated as follows:
'Cause we got this thing that I can't describe
[clip of Annabeth giving Percy her necklace, his eyes fixed on her]
Like I fell for you in another life
[two fanarts of Percy and Annabeth based on the books]
And I'd fall again a thousand times
[clip of Percy in TLT musical, taking Annabeth by the hand and twirling her]
And I mean it
[video showing two panels of Percy and Annabeth from TLT graphic novel]
yeah, I mean it
[clips of Percy looking at Annabeth in TLT movie]

Every little fork in the road
[clip of Annabeth looking at Percy when he chooses her for the quest]
Never feel my hand letting go
[clip of Annabeth helping Percy up on the beach]
If I did, you know I'm running back
[clip of Percy taking Annabeth's place at the arch]
You and me, we got a love like
[clip of Percy looking up to see Annabeth protecting him from Luke]
Two names on a tree
[clip of Annabeth watching Percy get unstatued]
Sure as every breath that you breathe
[clip of Percy breathing heavily after being unstatued]
Every beat is like a heart attack
[clip of Percy and Annabeth smiling together at the arch]
You and me, we got a love like that
[clip of Annabeth fixing Percy's armor strap, then of her giving him a hug when he returns to Camp Half-Blood]
Love like that
[clip of Annabeth and Percy looking up at Hephaestus, then of her and him talking about what monsters they faced each day (like an old married couple)]
You and me, we got a love like that
[clip of Annabeth looking at Percy while he's driving the taxi, and him smiling back, then of them talking in their goodbye scene at the end of the finale]
something about percy jackson that the movies got wrong is the importance of the shock value of just how young they are. percy has to save the world and risk his life for people who, quite honestly, think of him as a mistake- and he's not 18 or 19 or even 15 like peter parker is. this kid is twelve. he's not even old enough to go into the deep end of the pool without adult supervision and he has to prevent a war that will end the universe???
which is why ageing up the characters was so bad in the movies. it totally ruined the whole "wtf BUT HE'S A KID" aspect of it.
hi so sorry to use my scythe blog for mental illness BS (not a vent I prommy) but I know many of you are PJO fans, and from what I can tell a significant portion of the PJO fandom is mentally ill (not a diss, us scythe fans are mentally ill too, we can be besties). Anyways!

Alex Meyers makes a REALLY off color and offensive joke about mental illness, specifically DID, in this video. If you want to watch it and just skip the joke, or if you want to see what I’m talking about, it’s around the 4:04 mark.
One thing I like about the lightning thief movie is having Persephone openly call her relationship with Hades abusive. Modern retellings like to depict hades and Persephone as a romance, and often demonize Demeter in the process, for committing the crime of *checks notes* going apeshit after her daughter was kidnapped in the original myth. It’s refreshing to me.
My obsession with Percy Jackson started 11 years ago when I was 8 years old sitting on the carpeted floor of my grandparents' house and my dad came up to me and was like, "There's this movie btw about a kid whose mom died and he has to go to the Underworld and bring her back to life" and I was just like, "Why doesn't he just get a shovel and dig down?" I would not relent that that was the simplest solution and that Percy was stupid for even trying anything else but I watched the movie anyway and now we're here.
Someone put The Lightning Thief movie on TV against my will and I got through the first fifteen minutes before Noping out hard. There's a reason I haven't seen this movie since it released in theaters.
I'm rereading TLT because I have horrible impulse control and i will never get over the stark contrast of the Lotus Casino scenes of both the movie and book
Because movie Percy's like:
Percy: *high on lotus flowers having the time of his life* This is amazing~
Poseidon: *godly whispera in his brain* Percy you're in trouble get out of there
Percy: Oh sh*t he's right! We gotta go
Meanwhile the absolute perfection book Percy goes:
Percy: *while playing games* Oh man I having a great time! I feel warm and happy and relaxed and safe and enjoying life! I have not felt this amazing in years!
speaking my truth i fucking love the percy jackson movies. are they good adaptations? no. but are they fun as hell? yes. and i need everyone to stop pretending that they’re terrible just because they’re not like the books
The revisionist history of these live action remakes needs to be studied. The amount of people who are saying the PJO movies and the M Night Shyamalan movie that shall not be named are better than the current live action shows is absurd. People immediately shut down at the prospect of changes to the plot, get mad at exposition, then get mad when they don’t pick up on story lines and characterization. Then they say that the objectively terrible cash grab movies are better than the new shows where creators obviously love the source material and want to pay homage to it. And don’t get me started on the terrible treatment both casts have received, ESPECIALLY THE CHILDREN! People need to grow up. Im not saying you have to like the shows but saying theyre worse than those movies is wild.
watched "the lightning thief" movie for the first time in forever tonight and i think i've finally figured out the main reason the movie rubs me the wrong way.
percabeth.
they completely misunderstood percy and annabeth's relationship.
the movie shows them as an enemies to lovers, with a romantic tension and shoving them towards a romantic plot within literally five seconds of them meeting.
part of it's probably because they picked older actors, but it's just completely wrong.
the wonderful thing about percy and annabeth is their friendship. the friendship that's built from the very start of their meeting, where they dislike each other for all of three seconds before becoming best friends.
a friendship that we don't see any real romance blossoming from until percy's thoughts about annabeth in "sea of monsters" at cc's island, and a friendship we really don't see any real progress in until their kiss in "battle of the labyrinth" at the volcano. (you could definitely argue everything about percy's thoughts in "titan's curse", which is what i view as percy's real turning point towards seeing annabeth in a romantic light)
percabeth doesn't work if they're just automatically pushed into a romantic plot together. it's their friendship that makes us root for them, the way that we know how much they care about each other, but also know that they wouldn't feel so strongly about each other if they didn't start off as such strong friends
anyone who paints percabeth as enemies to lovers and not childhood best friends to lovers i'm sorry but it's just not them
love how no matter what, in all the pjo adaptations, grover has been nonwhite. filipino grover in the musical, black grover in the movies, and desi grover in the tv show
