Reasons why The Minotaur/The Weirdest Dream from The Lightning Theif musical is an amazing song:
1.) "I'm not leaving her!" In this part of the song, Sally tells Percy to run to the camp border and get to safety, but he refuses to leave his mom's side. Chalk it up to loyalty being his fatal flaw, but I think it's because, for twelve years, his mom was his support system. At home, Gabe beat him. At school, kids picked on him. Later on when he gets to Camp, he finds out his dad is a god, but doesn't visit or help at all, no one at camp likes him, and Grover, his only friend, was actually a half-goat who was assigned to Percy. The only real and healthy constant he's had in his life is his mother, and no way in hell would he leave her side for anything.
2.) "You want my son? You'll have to answer to me." Sally, a mortal woman, with no support system of her own, willingly goes up against a minotaur to give her son more time to get to safety. She loves her son just as much as Percy loves her and it's so amazing to see them fight for one another. We stan Sally.
3.) "This is weird. Oh, look, a strange man in a Hawaiian shirt." "👹It's a seashell👹" "...like I said, weird." This entire scene just cracks me up because this didn't even happen in the books, but it's hilarious. From Poseidon wearing a Hawaiian shirt (also, why the fuck does he have that??? he's a god???), to giving Percy a seashell (how the fuck did Poseidon do that??? did nobody else see him because, apparently, Poseidon was physically present), to Percy just accepting the weirdness of the situation.
4.) "Is she real? I think I must be dreaming. She's floating close to me like an angel, or it's seeming. This is weird, but a good weird. I've never seen a face as beautiful as-" In the book, when Percy first saw her, he compared her hair to a princess. And later on, he describes her eyes as stormy grey and says she looks like she's thinking of the best way to take you down in a fight. like, he's just there, attentive, smitten, and admiring this girl the second he meets her.
5.) "You drool when you sleep." And there's Annabeth who focuses on the logical aspects of the situation and does not commend him on his victory against a minotaur. Instead, she ensures to humble him and say something so factual, yet outlandish, that it keeps him on his toes. Truly, an amazing way to introduce the girl we all know and love.
So, yeah. We get Sally and Percy's appreciation, a Poseidon cameo, and an introduction to Percabeth. I love this song lol

Am I the only one who sorta hopes for a reference to the Percy Jackson musical in the series ?
It was our only good adaptation of the lightning thief for a long long time and the music is just really fun.
I don't know who holds the rights for the songs but I think it would be fun if the music Grover can play with with his reed pipes was the wittless minotaur , I don't know, the tree on the hill or lost.
Of if say an alarm rang and the song was the melody of another terrible day or the weirdest dreams or the day I got expelled.
Or just have the acoustics of my grand plan playing when Annabeth do something.

Lucious Route Chapter 4 (1-5)
Last time on the Lucious Route, Liz had another dream about hanging out with Lucious and I’m starting to have a sneaking suspicion that only is Lucious also having these dreams, he’s also aware that they’re kind of half-canon while Liz isn’t, which is just greaaaat /s. Also Hugo’s here and Liz and Lucious are about to jump him for information, which is either going to work or crash and burn.
So Liz and Lucious watch Hugo approach the portrait of Claudia, the former princess of the day kingdom and Lucious’s ex, and
I’m sorry, but is anyone else really distracted by how anachronistic Lucious’s outfit is? I wish I had a better word than anachronistic because I truly do not have a time period that I need all the outfits to be in, but it just feels so aesthetically off.
Like what is this?? Why’s he wearing a zip-up hoodie AND an oversized tracksuit jacket? Are those track pants??? What the hell is that flannel doing? It would honestly be fine without the tracksuit! Are you a magical time-displaced prince or the unhinged tertiary side character of a Disney channel show that starts out as a recurring character and eventually gets bumped up to main cast? I think I just made Lucious sound more interesting than he actually is..
Anyway, Lucious starts getting all uppity about Hugo potentially defacing Claudia’s portrait, but Liz warns him to be patient and promises they will intervene if he tries to damage the portrait. For some reason, none of this commotion attracts Hugo’s attention, although it would really be funny if he went “i know you’re here by the way yall aint SUBTLE” halfway through this scene without even looking up.
Hugo’s song (because apparently this was a song and not a really weird monologue) ends at the moment I think it will NEVER end, and it’s revealed that it unlocks a secret door. Which has GOT to be the most inconvenient key out there. Imagine if you had to password protect something with a perfect live performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. I would simply chew cement.
(all of this was just from part 1 of 5 btw guys)
Liz and Lucious follow Hugo into a luscious forest, because if there’s one thing these past few routes have loved, it’s sticking magical biomes in the weirdest places of the Labyrinth. Liz keeps tripping over tree roots, I guess to show how Quirky and Relatable(tm) she is and also to have a Gratuitous Love Interest Catches Her When She’s Falling Moment.
One where Lucious is leaning VERY close btw, like how does that HAPPEN-
They enter a creepy cave and I just have to pause real quick and admire the background.
Like DAMN that is a good background /gen.
They come across Hugo monologuing to himself, because I guess they couldn’t just give him a friend to create a dynamic duo so that he doesn’t just look like some weird guy monologuing to himself? Anyway, the defeat of the Minotaur (whenever the hell THAT happened, I don’t even fucking remember which route that was-) is causing the Labyrinth’s magic to get funky because for some reason, the magic was tied to the minotaur? Seriously? All because someone fucked-[REDACTED]
Anyway, Hugo wonders if he should let Lucious leave the Labyrinth now that Caesar’s curse has been broken (WITH STILL NO EXPLANATION AS TO HOW THAT HAPPENED IN THIS ROUTE BY THE WAY), which I have to quibble with for a moment.
The way Hugo’s phrasing it, he’s tying the breaking of Caesar’s curse to a Lucious’s potential freedom, implying that there’s some cosmic significance (for lack of a better word) to the way Caesar’s curse was broken. Like if its important enough for a time guardian to compare the two, it implies that the Baroque curse was broken for all the Baroques, even though that’s not what happened. It just broke for Caesar. Future Baroque generations WILL still carry the curse, if I’m not mistaken. So that begs the question: why is Caesar important to this? He’s not even the first Baroque to break his own curse. This is a question that I’m sure could have interesting answers, but unfortunately I think the most likely one is “because he’s an otome boy” and the writers said so.
Or I could just be reading too deeply into things, who knows.
Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled... this.
So Hugo ponders which timeline he should allow to exist and reveals he knows Liz and Lucious are there with a line that is significantly less funny than my earlier joke. Liz is somehow surprised that Hugo noticed them, even though they’ve been the most unstealthy fuckers I’ve ever seen. THEN the fucking Taffy/Remy hybrid shows up.
So then Hugo reveals that the Taffy hybrid is using Dragonkin magic, which isn’t a surprise to me because I’ve already sussed out that its Remy in disguise. (Wouldn’t it be super funny if I’m wrong and it’s not Remy tho? Lmfao). He also namedrops “Felix” and “Lacan” who are probably more Dragonkin and one of them is probably the weird blonde dude in Liz’s dreams. Taffy-Remy KNOWS Felix and Lacan and wonders why Hugo knows them.
So just to summarize the next few series of events here, Hugo starts trapping Taffy-Remy in here while monologuing that he won’t let him resurrect the dragonkin because they’ll end the world or something. Liz decides to save Taffy-Remy, because she hasn’t yet figured out that it’s fucking Remy, and the chapter ends.
I wonder what Alfonse and Caesar are doing back in the palace rn.. I’ve just imagined Lucious, Alfonse, and Caesar sleeping on a single mattress on the floor Scott Pilgrim style. They all took a bath together last chapter, y’all can’t tell me it’s not at least in the realm of possibility.

Reasons why The Weirdest Dream (reprise) from The Lightning Thief musical is an amazing song:
1.) “This is strange. I think I must be dreaming. I’m in some kind of cavern, at least, that’s how it’s seeming. This is...scary.” I looooooove the ominous musical undertone of this section. The mood shift is immaculate and it really makes you want to lean forward from the edge of your seat and capture every detail. I forget the word, but the people in charge of composing, orchestrating, and playing the instrument did such an amazing job. Additionally, I love how the lyrics copy the melody of ‘The Minotaur/The Weirdest Dream’ but the lyrics themselves are different. A reprise, when done correctly, is sooooo gooood!
2.) “The bolt is on its way, my lord. Everything is unfolding as I- as we planned.” “You falter!” I genuinely love this exchange between Luke and Kronos. While we can all agree that Luke made some awful choices, he is also just as vulnerable and afraid as the rest of the demigods we meet. It just puts things into perspective that despite his narrow-minded and murderous nature, he is also a scared demigod who just wants recognition.
3.) “Remember what the gods have done. Remember Thalia.” And Kronos keeping Luke on a leash by throwing Thalia’s death in his face whenever he shows hesitation is something I never knew I needed to hear. Like, we know Luke uses the same trick on Annabeth in The Sea of Monsters, but it never occurred to me that Kronos may have done the same thing to Luke.
4.) “Wait. Someone is here, listening even as he dreams. Hello, Perseus Jackson.” I love how Kronos uses his full name, like he’s addressing this twelve-year-old by his title. And Luke is definitely in the room when Kronos says this, which would make the scene where Luke poisons Percy all the more interesting because Luke was in contact with Kronos even then, so Luke had to have known that Percy would be someone to keep an eye on.
At first, I didn’t want to review this song because it isn’t one of my favorites, but listening to it again made me appreciate it for the amazing song it is. I think this is the first time within the soundtrack, besides ‘Their Sign’ and ‘The Campfire Song’, that we get an insight into Luke’s narrative, and I think that it’s incredibly important. Plus, we get an early Kronos cameo, done correctly, unlike a certain movie. Speaking of which, I suppose I could do commentaries on both movies in the future, now that I think about it lmao

It Takes Two (A Shitty Twisted Wonderland Fanfic)
Quick Notes: This chapter contains very light mentions of hallucinations so if you’re uncomfortable with that, here’s your opportunity to scroll!
Chapter One: Yuuki and Yuuta
“This has got to be the weirdest fucking dream I’ve ever had.” Yuuki said, their face contorted in an odd mix of confusion and disgust.
The ornate circular room was a dizzying labyrinth of hazy green lights and row after row of exquisitely carved coffins. In the center of this labyrinth, like a far more underwhelming version of the minotaur, floated a flaming cat-like creature with a voice so shrill it made Yuuki’s ears ring.
“Oh, thank god, you’re seeing this too.” Yuuta muttered, pressing the palms of his hands into his eyes and sighing. “I thought I was hallucinating all this.”
“You’ve got a lot of nerve ignoring me, stupid humans! I am the great sorcerer Grim—and if you two don’t hand over those uniforms, you’re totally toast!” The cat screeched, summoning a ring of bright blue fire around the two.
“…Uniform?” Yuuki asked.
It certainly didn’t look like any uniform Yuuki was familiar with. They lifted their arms, watching the massive swathes of black cloth and golden embroidery sway in a waterfall of fabric. It seemed like it was at least two sizes too big on them and there was no chance the cat was gonna be able to wear it.
“Yeah, the uniform! If ya’ don’t hand it over right now—you’re gonna regret it!”
The ring of fire grew, the licks of flame nearly reaching up to Yuuki’s knees. Smoke rose wafted around them in threatening coils, the air wobbling with the intense heat.
“Well, this isn’t good,” Yuuta said, seeming entirely unfazed by Grim’s hazing.
“You really are incredible, Sherlock.” Yuuki grabbed Yuuta’s arm harshly and made a break for the door, nearly lighting the two on fire in the process.
“Hey—get back here!” Grim cried.
The two had run until they collapsed in a tangled heap into the nearest side-room. Their lungs shook and their hearts thudded against their rib cage violently with each breath they took, and their legs felt like they’d been running on metal spikes.
“My asthmatic ass is not meant for running!” Yuuki heaved, letting their head fall back against the wall limply.
This new room was even stranger than the last, with almost every inch of it covered in shelf after shelf of books—some of them even floating in the air.
“Aha! I found you two! Foolish humans, you can’t run from the Great—YEOW!” The loud cracking sound of a whip echoed through the room, the tall ceilings creating an echo that reverberated through Yuuta’s teeth.
“That hurt!” Grim struggled against the black cord of his restraints. “What gives!?”
“Ah, I’ve finally found… the both of you?” A voice said quizzically.
A man holding the tail-end of the cord stepped out of the shadows. His face was obscured by a black, skeletal bird mask, and he was swathed in a black feather-trimmed coat that made him look bigger than he truly was. Gold claw jewelry sat on the tips of his fingers, and golden-trimmed mirrors hung from his belt, and on his top hat.
“This is odd. I could have sworn that only one coffin was opened before the ceremony…” He remarked, “In any case, you two are new students, correct?”
Yuuta nodded tentatively.
“You two were awfully eager to make your debut—and one of you brought this poorly trained familiar with you as well! That is a clear violation of school rules, you two.”
“I’d never serve some lowly human! Now let me go!” Grim screeched, continuing to wriggle in his restraints.
“Rebellious familiars always say that.” The man waved his hand dismissively, more cords wrapping around Grim’s mouth in tandem with the movement. “Out of all the students I’ve dealt with, you two are certainly the most tenacious. Does the very concept of patience elude you?”
Yuuki and Yuuta shot each other a look.
“Well, it doesn’t matter now. Let’s get back to the mirror chamber so you can complete your orientation.”
“Orientation?” Yuuki asked.
“Mirror chamber!?” Yuuta asked.
“…You two awakened in a room of gates, did you not?”
“You mean those weird coffin things?” Yuuta furrowed his brow in confusion.
“Yes, those ‘weird coffin things’ are gates. Every student on campus arrived here through one of those gates, though most of them have more restraint than you two do.”
“I think something blew the lid off ours.” Yuuki sent a sharp glare in Grim's direction.
“The likely culprit is that familiar of yours. You brought it here, and as such its behavior is your responsibility.” The man turned, motioning for the two to follow him. “Come now, there’s no more time for chatter, we’ve an orientation to attend to!”
“First, just tell me two things.” Yuuki crossed their arms over their chest. “Who exactly are you, and where are we?”
“Have you two not fully regained consciousness yet? The time space teleportation must have muddled your memories a bit…” The man mumbled, “Ah, well, these things happen. I’ll explain while we walk—truly, my magnanimity is boundless!”
The man took a moment to clear his throat theatrically before continuing.
“You are in Night Raven College, a prestigious academy for those who demonstrate a rare aptitude for magic. It is the most prestigious academy in all of Twisted Wonderland. I just so happen to be this academy’s benevolent Headmaster, Dire Crowley.”
“…Magic?” Yuuki shot Crowley an incredulous look.
“Haha! Very funny joke Mr. Crowley, but can you actually tell us where we are right now?” Yuuta laughed nervously. “If I don’t get back to the campsite before my mom wakes up, she’s gonna go ballistic.”
“Are you sure you kids aren’t the ones who’re joking? Being purposefully obtuse after someone explains something to you is quite rude.” Crowley shot back.
Yuuki and Yuuta blinked a couple times.
And then they blinked a few times more, for good measure.
“Uh, Mr. Crowley, I think we’re having a bit of a misunderstanding here,” Yuuki started, “You did say magic, right?”
“…Yes, I did.”
“And you said we’re in a place called ‘Twisted Wonderland’, right?”
“Yes, I did say that. Are you children sure you’re alright?“
Yuuki’s smile widened by a fraction, their left eye twitching.
“Yep, yeah, we’re just fine! Definitely nothing to worry about at all, you just keep showing us where we’re supposed to go!”
“…Okay then.” Crowley stared blankly at Yuuki for a moment before continuing. “Well, in any case, only those seen as having a unique talent for magic are admitted by the Dark Mirror. The lucky few who are selected are transported to campus through a black carriage bearing one of those gates. One of those should’ve come to retrieve you.”
“Now that you mention it, I remember seeing a weird carriage driven by a freaky horse. I totally thought it was a hallucination, though.” Yuuta remarked.
“…Indeed. And as you know, it is a time-honored tradition to send a carriage for someone on a special day.”
“Ah, so we were kidnapped,” Yuuta said.
“You are way too calm about this,” Yuuki muttered, shaking their head.
“To be fair, it’s not the first time.”
“Yuuta, for the last time, some random guy questioning your dad in the supermarket about whether or not you’re his kid does not count as being kidnapped, you idiot.”
“I think it counts.”
“No it doesn’t.”
Grim screeched loudly against his restraints, his muffled struggling truly accentuating the strangeness of the current situation.
“Now, then, let us attend to your orientation!” Crowley announced, brandishing the door to the mirror chamber with a dramatic flip of his coat and flourish of the hand.
“I already know this is going to go horribly…” Yuuki muttered.
“It’ll probably be funny, though!” Yuuta exclaimed.

Who was your favorite to write (currently)?

I'm currently writing a new OC (no spoilers) but he's my favorite trope (gentle giant, but also slightly feral on people who make him mad.) He'll debut soon.
Rantha was probably the weirdest: he was inspired by a dream I had of a minotaur mending a dress.
Once I finish a story, I tend to put it out of my head to make room for new stories, so I don't often mentally revisit finished works unless I'm writing a continuation. The one I think about a lot is Ravadhi, mostly because it's not finished yet, but largely because it's a story I've had in my head for more than ten years and I'm finally able to write out.
