and ANOTHER thing I appreciate about Owl House is that it emphasizes that it’s possible for parents to mess up and cause some level of damage to their kids WITHOUT being toxic or abusive. which is so important in today’s era of tiktok pathology, when wannabe psychologists are so quick to label any sort of parental-based trauma as abuse or narcissism. Camila is a WONDERFUL person and mother, who is very human and makes mistakes that have deeply hurt/misguided Luz, but the show never muddies her or their bond. she and Luz openly love and trust each other. and i just really really really appreciate that nuance

One of the things I like about the episode Yesterday's Lie was how Vee paralleled Luz; both of them are people who were alienated in their own home realms, but when they go to the other realm they find where they truly belong. If The Owl House ever gets a sequel series or a continuation of some kind, I really want Vee to be a part of the main cast.

Collector: "I gave you the draining spell! I taught you magic stronger than anybody's."
okay.
But what was the point of de-extincting the basilisks then? If Belos already had the draining spell (and evidently didn't need them for it).
Kinda makes the whole plot around Vee's existence superfluous.

I like to think that Belos is stuck in the Inbetween Space (where Luz met Papa Titan, and went in Yesterday’s Lie), stuck with the consequences of what he has done. It’s like the thinking of it’s too kind to let someone die and crueler to let them live. Imagine him seeing the Castle destroyed and replaced by a University of Wild Magic. Seeing his Golden Guard unlearn everything that he was forced to learn by Belos. Everything that has been undone from his regime, to let the Isles be as they were.

Fanfiction Luz: I am going to resent Vee for taking my place and I will hold it against her for every single thing
Canon Luz: you’re the reason my mom didn’t cry her eyes out thinking I’m dead! You can keep faking being me until I find a way back sis!

Something something the allusion to historical witch trials by dunking people in water and if they sank they werent a witch but if they floated then they were but it didnt matter bc this was a way to get rid of outcasts in the community so they were going to die either way. Something something luz floated through the water in the in between in yesterdays lie after she became a witch but in s3 as she became more conflicted about staying in the human world she remained in the in between while going through the portal and eventually sank through the water when she died
Something about how luz and hunter both sacrificed themselves to save their friends from belos and would have died in a watery grave like all the accused witches in the past. But they didnt because the parent of their sibling also loved them enough to pull them out of the water. How they survived this not from any innate magical ability like the "witches" of belos's time were thought to have but from the love of the people around them. From being kind and having that kindness repaid.

Thinking about the fact that Caleb has had no real appearance, actually.
He had no flashback like young Eda, Lilith, Raine, etc. And the portraits aren't real portraits, either, they're just physical manifestations of Belos' memories, and we didn't even get into them and see them animated like we did in Understanding Willow.
And the apparition from Thanks To Them isn't specified to be an actual ghost or a hallucination from Belos.
The only REAL things that depict Caleb are the statue in Gravesfield and that one sketch in Jacob's book, and that last one is a stretch.
