Pros of watching the video of JLH recording “I’m Gonna Love You”: hearing her sing and watching her do her thing
Cons of watching the video of JLH recording “I’m Gonna Love You”: seeing clips from that trash-ass Hunchback Of Notre Dame sequel

I’ve started watching Utena because of you. What. Is going on
HI. WELCOME TO THE CLUB, watch the trigger warnings. but yeah, revolutionary girl utena veers more and more towards surrealism the further you get into the series. it often and voluntarily forfeits narrative/logical consistency in favor of visual storytelling, metaphors and symbolism. i was just talking about it with nic the other day, and if the story weren't so harrowing, i would recommend it to everyone who wants to get into literary analysis, because it is SO packed with symbolism EVERYWHERE that it actually encourages you to try to decode it.
whatever you think utena is about, it is NOT. you can't go in and treat it like your 49293th classical shoujo. utena is a firework show of visual symbolism and it very rarely, if ever, explains itself to the viewer. it refuses to handhold you, but it never berates you for trying and getting it wrong either. there is SO much handholding in modern day media, but utena trusts its viewer to take away something meaningful from itself and to piece its message together on their own. it's one of my favourite pieces of media of all time just for that

Honestly, ppl make bread too complicated
Yeast this additives that, rising time, kneading, moisture content whatevs
And sure, there's def a science behind it, but you can actually make pretty simple bread.
Take flour, take water, get some salt and something to flavor it with (herbs, spices or even bouillon cubes will do in a pinch) and some fat. Mix flour with flavorings, mix in some fat like oil or butter, then add water and knead. How much? Whatever feels right.
Shape it into disks, fry in a pan. no need to bother with temperatures, just put it somewhat high.
Bam! Bread.
It's a great recipe for when you have barely anything left in your pantry or when basically everything is too expensive. You don't need anything fancy to make it. Just flour, fat and fluid. Flavorings are optional but recommended.
Remember the formula: flour, fluid, fat and flavoring = flatbread (FFFF=F)

okay i realize i keep referencing 'pop tart aliens' from The Original Serious but do not ever clarify. It's these things. I'm sure they were very expensive to make/acquire but I look at these things flying around on strings killing everything and am like. man come on. i realize in the 70s people thought the moment spock got attacked by one was thrilling but unfortunately all i can see in 2023 is leonard nemoy getting slapped with wet toast and collapsing

RE: Amazon's Lord of the Rings series: I think this excellent video from Sarah z -- about the way that right-wing backlash against certain media properties makes it nearly impossible to have genuine conversations about them, because you can't talk about them in good faith without inadvertently adding to the right-wing dogpile of people criticizing them for racist sexist reasons -- conveys pretty much everything I should probably say about it ladjflksdfs. Sarah Z makes a great point that this kind of vicious right-wing backlash often tends to deliberately focus media properties that are mediocre because of other reasons (like boring corporate mandates) and claim they're mediocre because of diversity. Right-wingers intentionally ignore properties that have diversity and are Good, and intentionally ignore the billions of shows/movies that aren't "woke" but are also similarly mediocre. Because right-wingers don't actually care about the "quality of art" unless they can use that as a weapon to attack the people they hate.

As I re-watch volume 7 of RWBY, it reminds me of my biggest "issue" with RWBY. Mainly that I wish we had more RWBY. Volume 7 is a pretty solid season with it being structured very well. But a lot of the plot threads and characters introduced could have been explored more if we had more episodes or perhaps even another volume set in Atlas.

to be honest how much they cut from the book was ciminal, not because the movie was bad but because everything was amazing, it deserved to be properly developed and they barely scratched the surface of the story and characters

Is Sakyo like a Lu Woh type who's such an annoying uppity twink that you just want to dig your teeth into like a chew toy and then shake your head a bunch?
THAT DESCRIPTIONS PLEASE.
a3 is such a wholesome series but after what YOU GUYS did to Lu Woh in particular i feel fearful bringing this on Sakyo 😭
and i think it's not an *unfair* comparaison tho.... Like they're both more on the reserved side, they try to take things seriously even if no one around them do, they can resort to threat of violence to motivate people while actually they care too much to really carry through with it, they're both surrounded by groups who tend to want them to loosen it up, they both tend to lecture people over what should be done, reminding them of their duty and everything....
so they do have a lot in common. I would say on the difference is that Sakyo is much more likely to actually get angry (Lu Woh, despite threatening to be, tends to be pretty lowkey), and Sakyo also doesn't hesitate to be soft when the time is right (Lu Woh, so far, has kept the Tsundere energy through everything). Sakyo is also more passionate in general i'd say, he's more in contact with his own feelings and shortcomings than Lu Woh.
So they are pretty similar i'd say, not fully obviously, especially due to the fantasy vs down-to-earth distinctions of their arcs, but they do have major draws in common here and there.
now whether it means you want to dig your teeth into him and bite him like a chew toy........ i do know people who would do that to him.

just don't hesitate i guess?

I agree! I wish with the ditto mv they kept that grainy feel instead of going back to the polished hybe money scenes. Like it's supposed to be vintage and nostalgic!! It's okay to be messy!! Other than the acid angel from asia generation similarities I saw fifty fifty's lovin me. The mvs are different but both are trying to evoke that nostalgic indie like feeling I think. What do you think?
Also I feel the reason things like f(x) pink tape worked well is because that art film was made on a limited budget.
yea i'd agree that fifty fifty's lovin me was also trying to evoke a similar nostalgic feeling, but imo lovin me is much more 2010s than 2000s in its visual language. like the mvs that it brings to mind for me are ones from the mid 2010s like boa's disturbance or hyolyn's erase, or even later ones jonghyun's lonely and vromance's star! there's like a very specific sort of hipster-y vibe from that era, with the desaturated colour palette + low contrast and lots of fabric + flowery (not literally, but it's kind of the best way to describe it? like there was a lot of like. vintage bric a brac baroque-y type stuff) bits that lovin me is trying to emulate more than the y2k trend. which just makes me think about when THAT trend makes it around to the nostalgia cycle in the next ten years and how that's gonna look lmao.
