I spent more time that I expected with this, so here are some details because this is based on my hc:

-Shen Jiu is there, yes. In this au, after he died, he became a resentful ghost and took the place of the leader of the beggars / spies sect. No one knows about this, except mqf, and sj spens his days complaining away how everyone likes the impostor more than him and recolects secrets of everyone.

-That's my design for Shen Yuan's plant body. I like the idea of him having shorter hair than the standar as how he finds balance between his old self and new self.

-Ye Qingyong is the leader of the farmers. I don't know they need food and they have to get it for somewhere. So a farm!! Also he's blind.

-Go Qingzhen is the leader of the adivination sect. I just think that Airplane got out of ideas and said "fuck it, adivionation sect, why not?". You can find more about your future in their weekly newspaper (Cang Qiong needs money okay?).

-Ru Qinghuan is the leader of Zui Xian and she makes things go KABOOM. They make alcohol but also some explosive not really safe drinks.

-Wei Qingwei already appears in the novel for one momment socI'm making him a family guy with 5 kids and a wife that he adores.

-Don't ask about the Ku Xing leader because I don't know ok he's a pacifist and buff I don't have imagination left to think about something else.

anyone else have multiple traumatic memories associated specifically with holidays/family vacations? because that is a topic I never see discussed in all the So You Had A Shitty Childhood, Now What? self-help books i've been reading. but for me, it was a significant thing. and the more i think about it the more it seems like this would be an (unfortunately) common experience. would be grateful to hear if this matches other peoples' experiences...

Dunno if this is something you've been asked before but how does our favorite post apocalyptic beanboy and his most excellent gal celebrate Halloween in the Commonwealth?

It's been a long time since we talked about this in detail (probably in 2014-15?) but I think we established that many traditional American holidays were lost in the Great War (people were more concerned with surviving, obviously). A lot of these celebrations were kept alive by Vault residents however. Buttons does his best to inspire his fellow Arefu settlers to celebrate Halloween to some extent and Meg plays along, even if it makes no sense to her. The budget Brahmin has to be my favorite Halloween post so I did a quick redraw:

I’ve been thinking a lot about what Laios would do for a living in a modern day au - I’ve seen some theorizing about how his love of monsters/ecology/nature would make him a good biologist. Which is true! But I personally could see him being just Some Guy, maybe a college or even a highschool drop out, who joined and then left the army, working random odd jobs like dish washer/mover/warehouse worker. He visits his college going sibling falin who is so concerned she decides to dropout (even though she only has a bit of schooling left and coincidentally is working to become a biologist/career inspired by something laios suggested once) and get an apartment with him because he’s practically homeless and in a rough state. Then they both get a job at the same place, like for instance….. a card/game shop perhaps?? Or even something that sells funky pops and wall scrolls side by side you know! Maybe even ran by the short and super young looking chilchack whose “secretly” a good boss/cares about his employees?? 🤔🤔

Like I just think laios would be just some guy who ends up discovering a rich world outside of trying to pay rent in this world in creating his own characters and worlds in things like dnd and the furry fandom. He is a great artist although members of his tabletop group don’t always appreciate him making their characters or themselves fursonas …but drawing monstrously beautiful creatures representing someone’s self is practically a love language for him so they accept it however begrudgingly.
