Thinking about YouTuber Steve who’s gaining a lot of popularity with his weekly vlogs. The routine is very similar: he goes to work, hangs out with friends, acts silly for the camera, cooks for his roommate, watches movies with his roommate, goes out with his roommate.

His roommate is there a lot.

His new growing fanbase doesn’t take long to divide into factions regarding Steve’s dating life and sexuality; There are ships, OTPs, people who want him single so they can date him, and a surprisingly small portion which questions his heterosexuality, which gets always shut up by the following compelling arguments:

“stop assuming he’s gay.”

“Steve doesn’t look gay. He’s just a guy, a former jock, who loves to cook and hangs out with friends. A friend more than the others, but it’s his roommate so it makes sense, right?”

“And yes, they do cuddle while watching movies, but who doesn’t love a cuddle? You don’t have to be gay for that.”

“Sure, they hold hands when they go out but the city is crowded and they might lose each other.”

“Since when two male friends can’t be close without assuming that they’re gay?”

“Have you ever seen them kiss in ten minutes of weekly vlog? No, so drop your gay agenda already.”

And Steve Harrington, who started the whole vlog thing in the first place because he wanted to update his friends who live miles away and still doesn’t know how he got this much heteronormative bullcrap in his comments, has had enough.

One day, Steve Just-A-Guy Harrington, wakes up and chooses violence.

He replies to a tiktok comment that says “stop assuming he’s gay” with another video.

It begins with Steve glaring at the camera “oh yes please, stop assuming I’m gay.”

Then there’s a quick motion and Steve is pulling a curly haired guy into frame: Eddie, his roommate/platonic friend/totally not his boyfriend of 5+ years.

Eddie yawns, looking sleepily at the camera “are you vlogging?”

“I’m proving a point” Steve replies, then kisses him. They almost get lost into it, but Steve is a man on a mission, so he pulls back and turns to the camera.

“This is Eddie, my boyfriend. Not a friend who’s a boy, you delusional homophobes, we are together, a couple, in a relationship. We haven’t been just friends for over 5 years. We live together, he isn’t just a roommate.

And even if he was just my roommate, do you think I would live with this” he squeezes Eddie’s cheeks between his fingers and zooms in to show his face up close. Eddie blinks a couple of times, but let’s Steve do whatever he wants.

“Do you seriously think that I would live with this 24/7 and stay straight? Like, are you insane?” He gives Eddie a quick smack on the lips, leaving him blushing and more confused than ever.

Usually, it’s Eddie the one getting almost feral over Steve, not the other way around.

He doesn’t complain.

“So yeah, stop assuming I’m gay. Because I’m bi, you homophobic little shits.”

The video ends with Eddie pulling Steve for more than a quick peck on the lips, and Steve throwing the phone on their couch, face down.

Somehow, under Steve’s video, there’s still someone that comments “I mean, this doesn’t mean anything. It’s just bros helping bros, right?”

Steve is too busy making out with his “bro” to read it.

What are your ships in ddlc? I noticed you do all the ships- If you ship all then what’s your favorite ship?

SO, here’s the thing : when it comes to ships in genera it takes a lot for me to actually have OTPs and stuff and this is especially true in ddlc for me. For me shipping is more of a “sure, i could get behind this” sort of thing, except if once in a blue moon i find that one ship that alters my brain chemistry but believe it or not that has not really happened to me with any of the ddlc ships. It has happened with the game as a whole, but not really with the ships. The only one that has come close i’d say is sayonika but that’s more bc they happen to be the characters that i think about the most

That being said, i’d say i ship every ship in the game, simply because i could honestly see all of them working out in one way or another. Sure, they’re are some i like more than others but generally all of them work. And yes, this includes the Mc ships even though i like them less bc the side stories blew it out of the park with the chemistry between the girls

Speaking of the side stories, they are the sole reason i got into the shipping side of the fandom lol. The base game, as influential as it was for me, never really ignited any shipping sparks ig. I actually could not care less for the shipping before the side stories, bc most of it felt kind of trope-y ironically enough. Like, Natsuri was the big one, which was only popular bc of the whole opposite’s attract thing (not that there’s anything wrong with that ofc, it just never really resonated with me). Sayonika was a victim of what i like to call the “leftovers syndrome” where two characters are shipped bc they are the only ones left to be shipped with.

And Mc.. well let’s talk about that actually. Mc x Yuri is well… how do i put this. They have absolutely nothing in common. I don’t necessarily hate this ship however, if i see it done right i can like it. Mc x Natsuki was alright, the banter was fun, they actually have things they can talk about, it’s overall a nice ship. I will say i prefer them as close friends, but if i was to see media (fan art, fics, mods etc) where it’s done right, i can appreciate it. Mc x Sayori is also a ship i can enjoy from time to time, probably the most out of any Mc ship. Again, i do prefer talking about their friendship more though but now that i’m writing this down i realise i’m just a slut for male/female friendships. Mc x Monika truly depends on what context the characters are given. Are we talking about non-sentient Monika x Mc? Bc that can be pretty fun. If we are talking about sentient Monika x Mc, i see a very interesting dynamic (not a particularly good one) where Monika is basically using Mc as a vessel for the player in her desperation. Can Mc feel this dynamic? Does he understand in some way that he’s the second choice, even if he doesn’t know the truth about their world? How does it affect him? Its fun to ponder about this ig, but it doesn’t really make for a healthy relationship

Then the side stories came out, where the characters evolved from their one-dimensional tropes into actual personalities with enticing dynamics between them and i was immediately sold. That being said, i still don’t really have an OTP per say, bc as stated before all of them could work out. Which is definitely bc of how we get to see each of them interact individually in each side story. In every side story, we see each character interact with the other and learn how to grow as individuals because of it. I could see each pairing happening individually, i could see them being a poly couple, maybe even a qpr, or just a very close friend group too! There is a lot of love between the characters, whether that is romantic, platonic or something in between im not 100% certain on, but the love is definitely there.

Anyway, you also asked what my favourite ship would be, and i’ll probably say Sayonika since most of the media I consume tends to be with them

Cerise/Raven: this is actually really cute. I definitely see Cerise pinning a little bit. But I just love the idea of them. 8/10

So. I think it’s possible that they’re actually gonna do Kataang. Definitely with her speech at the end of the season, THAT actually felt like Katara. Finally. And apparent the actor just did an interview recently and she motioned that there were hints of Kataang and there would be a lot more come the next season

I shouldn’t have hope. But little 10 year old in me that grew with this show needs to see them fall in love all over again for 26 year old me.

Yeah, strangely in the last couple of episodes Katara finally started to feel like herself in that she expressed much more emotion than she had the entirety of the rest of the series (though I still hate the girlbossification of her character in the NAtLA NWT storyline). That scene of her yelling at Aang on the wall was also the first scene in the whole show that I personally saw any sort of inkling of Kataang, platonic or romantic. They are supposed to be best friends, but it didn't feel like Katara truly cared about Aang in a deeper way until that scene.

I know how you feel though - if my 10yo self watched this adaptation, I would have been extremely pissed, because Kataang was my OTP above all other ships in any other fandom for yeaaaars haha. I'm so glad to hear Kiawentiio has been hinting at more Kataang in the future - I honestly really like her and I'm still so mad that she didn't get more chances to actually be the Katara we all know and love, because she can definitely do it! I wonder if they will actually try to revisit the Cave of Two Lovers in S2 - NAtLA has made it to where the caves lead directly to the city's prison, so it would make sense for the Gaang to use them to try and sneak into Omashu to bust Bumi out. Who knows, maybe we will actually get the Kataang content we deserved too. I still think having Katara and Sokka go into the lovers' cave has been the most egregious change in the entirety of NAtLA so far lmao

Jumba x Pleakley. Growing up OBSESSED with the Lilo & Stitch movies and television series, these two were my OTP throughout my childhood and still a favorite of mine to this day. I love how they both bicker but also support each other and are apart of a found family trope.

Geff. Besides Scratch, Geoff is another favorite character of mine from TGAMM, so when I found out he had a partner, I was ecstatic. Both his and Jeff’s dynamic with each other is so sweet and precious.

Roger x Jessica. I just adore the whole idea of this goofy character pulling in this drop dead beauty. And how Jessica will do anything for her husband but also how Roger is so devoted to her. And they’re both from my favorite movie so I had to pick them!

Billy x Mandy. as much fun as we have, i think most if not all of us know roy+jamie having romantic confirmation in series (as otp or ot3 in royjamiekeeley) was never on the table or written on the page. the cast enjoy the spontaneity of teetering between comedy / intimacy in their chemistry, and the writers leave silly trails for the audience to either follow or ignore. i did however, take some excerpts from phil dunster’s interviews that convinced me s3 ending will truly leave it all wide open for ted lasso viewers to decide where things lead for the characters.

exhibit a, we’ll likely see more implications and suggestive dialogue that indicate something deeper than just friends brewing to the point that even phil admits it’s quite blatant, and not dismissive of the concept. but again, even in a reality where going past platonic is in a later script, they’re taking baby steps and only just achieved official friendship. not to mention how difficult it still is for both to give words to any range of feelings. they are nottt ready.

exhibit b, many people are used to shows tying up loose ends in a neat little bow, that is not the case here. idk if that’s bc of a possible 4th season? or genuinely just that it’s a nice echoed motif where the future is unwritten and the potential should remain endless to our imagination. i have no idea what jamie’s last stop for us to witness will be but i trust that phil actually loves it for him. since the characters apparently will have many paths available at their feet, and he’s a self proclaimed royjamie, i think we can connect the dots in that he would choose one of the options that lead him there lol!

but yeah they’re honestly just pressed for time when it comes down to it, it already feels rushed and paced abruptly in some areas, my guess is that if there was a s4/s5 or even a spinoff this wouldn’t be out of reach at alllll. based on how much lgbt rep caught me offguard it’s not an untouchable topic in the slightest. especially with a dynamic so unplanned.

we’ll have to see what the last two episodes bring. madness. that’s what. but imma have a good time regardless <3 jason feel free to prove me wrong btw

Couple- I’m torn between Helia x Flora cause i just adore them and they are so soft and were my very first OTP so writing them is just very cathartic in a way? Like, just 2 kids healing together and being oh so soft and loving and just… UGH at god when?

My other fave couple would be Rivusa cause I also adore their progression as a couple, they’re similar to Helia and Flora but just a bit worse at communication which makes for a very interesting dynamic and just seeing them grow together and learn how to be a healthy couple is everything to me

Bestie duo- can i choose 3?

First off, Stella and Bloom. The invisible string aspect of their friendship, how much their understand each other and their dynamic as a whole is just so much fun to write and their connection is one of the easiest and deepest in the whole rewrite and I adore them

Musa and Tecna are just… UUUUGGGGGHHHHH I love writing them, how their friendship goes kinda slow since they’re both kinda bad at connecting with people but they know they got each other’s backs and they love each other and accept each other and they feel safe in a way that is so hard to explain when they’re together, Tecna’s family is Musa’s family and the two are so similar yet so different and they just are my everything

I love Helia and Riven due to their similarities, they really are two sides of the same coin and writing them together truly gives me life, they just learn so much from each other and admire the other so much and just- ugh they’re besties

Platonic Soulmate-

My feelings: I love her so much! That scheming and blunt nature, grey morality, and deep care for her loved ones while struggling with emotional intimacy make her so interesting. Some of that has to do with her being a girl because it felt like I didn’t get to see mischievous or chaotic girls growing up like I get to see with Louise

Romantic ships: I ship her with Logan as an adult, and when she’s a teenager it’s “Babs canon” that Jessica is her first romantic partner. Althooughh I see the appeal of high school chloise

Non-romantic OTP: Struggling with the wording on this one, but I maintain that Tina and Gene are her true best friends from now until forever. I think they’re the first people she will call when she’s in trouble and the first people she will trust to tell anything about her life

Unpopular opinion: The sweet moments feel cheap back to back. You have to let her actually be flawed for the heartfelt moments to mean something. “Awww it really shows her character growth-” does it? Or is this an episodic sitcom and now a different team is in charge of her character?

One thing I wish had happened with this character: Remember when Louise called in a fake tip to the police so Linda didn’t get arrested? Or when she profited off Andy and Ollie in Art Crawl then suffered no consequences? I would have liked more of that before Disney bought Fox
