notes: omg am I posting!? Hi everyoneeee, first off I want to ask how everyone has been~. I haven't been an active writer, that's because I realized I was looking at this as a job rather than a hobby that brings me joy :(, therefore I took a break. Can't say I'm gonna be constant bc thus is a hobby not a job, but I love to write and i'm pretty sure I wont stop! ( I have a lot of things in my drafts) btw, this is lowkey inspired by Bridgeton, but not quite.

Description: Being a royal isn't easy, especially when every choice is made for you. But maybe having a kind guard around isn't so bad.

this is a work of fiction, an alternate universe. The Irl persons are not made to be perceived this way. 18+ content ahead, viewer discretion is advised.

You huffed, picking at the herbs that laid on your pasta as a garnish, tuning out the boring kingdom talk your mother and father indulged in with the rest of the family. The pearly satin gloves on your hands grew uncomfortable as the queen brung your personal life into conversation once more.

“Y/n will get married soon, I just know it.” You resisted the urge to roll your eyes at your mothers comments. Your father, as always, just had to add salt to the wound. “There are many suitors sending letters to the palace every day, even some from overseas. I don’t understand why you never reply efficiently-” You gave a tight lipped pained smile, not wanting to cause a scene; avoiding trouble.

You didn’t want all these random men, men that only saw your family's wealth. You already had a man you yearned for, one that was different. You look up from the tablecloth, in the doorway of the dining room stood your personal guard; Minho. He wasn’t looking at you, he was on duty. If he looked anywhere but straight he’d be bound to have to skip dinner for a lecture from the head guard. But you didn’t mind that he wasn’t looking at you, it made it easier to stare and get lost in the comfort of your own imagination; daydreaming about how wonderful it would be to run away with the kind man that always made sure you weren’t lonely.

Minho wasn’t always in your life, he only came to serve the royal family a mere 2 years ago. Being assigned as your personal guard didn’t sound exciting at first, just another shackle put around your ankles to prevent you from living the best you could under these circumstances. But as you grew accustomed to his presence, memorizing the scars on Minho’s neck and hands, finding safety in the pure brown of his round eyes, and the soft smile that he often wore on his lips; the one he’d only show you, you didn’t dread being looked over 24/7. He was more than enough for you, enough to make you feel whole in a palace that only offered emptiness.

Before Minho was a royal guard, he was a warrior. He only knew battle, but he didn’t want to fight all the time anymore, he wished for something more calm; so here he is. Yes he was rough around the edges but he got the job done, the king and queen liked him because he seemed to make their princess stop complaining. They didn’t care how he did it, as long as they didn’t have to hear your mouth and watch you themselves.

As you stared at the man who looked after you, daydreaming of an alternate universe where you could be normal… your mother; the queen, asked your sister-in-law; the dutchess, to make a toast. What for? You didn’t know, but what you did know was envy. You could practically turn the color green as you watched your brother's fond eyes stare up at the woman he loved. He got to marry the woman he loved so purely, why didn’t you get to do the same? He got to pick, choose… yet you have no say.

You cleared your throat after sipping from the dark glass of wine. “Excuse me. Mother, father, may I be excused? The meal doesn’t seem to be sitting right with my stomach.” Your words were respectful but your face held an expression only Minho could read clearly, therefore he shifted on his heels, ready to accompany you.

“You’ve barely touched your food, my grace.” Your sister-in-law meant well, you know she did. But the fact that she can have the life she wishes for while you’re sitting idle with no authority over yourself makes you frown almost every time you see her smile happily. “Yes, well, I seem to have caught a bug. May I be excused, please… your highness?” You offered a tight lipped smile at your mothers unhappy face. The poised woman sipped from her white wine as she shooed you off with a flick of the wrist, but you couldn’t leave the dining room without her having the last words.

“Y/n dear, I want you to know… no matter how much you try to fight it, this is your life. You will eat when I tell you, wear what I want you to, and marry who I wish you to. Is that understood, darling?” Your eyelids fluttered as you fought back tears of frustration, no matter how hard you tried to be perfect, she saw right through you. “You’re dismissed.”

The maids opened the grand doors, offering you pity glances as you clacked off; struggling to keep your composure as Minho followed closely behind.

He didn’t say anything as you sped walk into the garden, breathing heavily as tears finally flowed down your cheeks. You looked down at your glove clad hands as you stopped in the center of the garden, sniffling as you rushed to rip them off. Throwing them to the rocky pavement as you dug your heel into the glimmering fabric.

“Your grace,” you sighed softly at the sound of his voice, the voice that calmed you whenever this would happen. Minho didn’t seem to know the effect he had on you, or maybe he did and decided to ignore it. Either way his presence always worked.

“It’s cold out, and you have nothing to cover yourself with, shall we go inside?” He asked softly, staring at your back as you looked at the now dirty satin gloves on the cobblestone. You shook your head in disagreement, turning around to be met with Minho’s gentle eyes underneath the moonlight.

“The breeze feels nice, I wish to stay out here for longer. You can go back if you’d like.” Your voice was weak as you sat on a bench, overlooking a small man made lake your brother made for you as an 11th birthday gift. You watched as the koi fish swam carelessly, free. You couldn’t help but chuckle at the irony.

You know Minho didn’t leave, he wouldn’t leave even if you paid him to. “Why is this my life Minho?” He stayed silent. You looked up at him, his expression neutral, used to having heard this talk from you multiple times.

“Why can’t I marry the one I love? Be happy with him, feel the kind of love my brother and the dutchess have. It’s right at my fingertips, but it’s being ripped away.” Minho raised a brow, this was new. Your rants were always about freedom, not about love.

“… are you in love, my grace?” Minho was surprised. He’s with you every hour of the day, he surely would’ve noticed if you’ve developed a crush on someone.

You parted your lips, realizing what you’ve just said. The wine has seemingly gotten to you.

You stand up, “I want to go to my room.” You whispered, walking passed the now curious man. Minho swiftly picked up your gloves and handed them to a maid as he followed you inside.

You dismissed the help as they offered to undress you. “Please just… go to your chambers, I want to be alone.” They all left, except for him. You closed your room doors behind you, sighing. “Would you like me to leave too, your grace?” You rolled your eyes, turning around to face him.

You were tired, tired of pretending, tired of hiding. “Have you ever been in love, Minho?” Your guard frowned, then soon moved in a hurry to help as he saw you trying to take off your jewelry. You sucked in a breath of air as you saw his reflection in the mirror, focused on helping you with your pearls. You fought the urge of closing your eyes as his fingers grazed your skin.

“I have.” He answered shortly, “but she didn’t love me back, I got over it quickly, it was years ago. Honestly, I’ve forgotten until you just brought it up.” He understood you needed a distraction, so he gave it to you, as he always did. Didn’t matter if you asked for a war story and a made up one, whatever you asked of him he’d try to do.

You blinked, staring as he set your pearls down on your vanity, moving to work on your earrings. “What did it feel like?” Your voice came out in a whisper, causing Minho to look in the mirror to see you looking back at him. His heart skipped a beat, seeing the expression of longing on your face was almost too painful for him to see. A sweet girl like you shouldn’t be unhappy, yet here you are, unable to flap your wings like you should be.

“I wish I could tell you the beauty of it, my grace; but all I can tell you is the pain.” Minho said calmly, offering a polite smile to your reflection as he placed one earring down, moving to the next.

“It feels like a breath of fresh air after you’ve been suffocating for years. Like you’ve been lured in by a siren to live in the depths of the sea but finally you’ve been saved, being able To see the sun again.” Minho’s hands paused at your words, looking at you through the mirror once more. A pang in his chest follows as you look at him the way you did during dinner, only this time he notices.

“Your grace…” he whisperers. “It feels of the warm sun in the early summer, when you’re in a meadow surrounded by freshly bloomed daisies and dandelions. You know, when the breeze is just right? It feels… good.” Your small smile soon turns grim, watching as Minho sets the last piece of jewelry down. “It also hurts; like you said.” Minho stood silent, his heart pounding as you turned to face him; peering up into his sparkling eyes. “It hurts when I see that I can’t have you anyway that I want.” Minho’s breath hitched at your confession. “What do you mean… your grace… have me? I don’t seem to follow.”

You smiled painfully, reaching a manicured hand up to hold his cheek; stroking lightly. “I want you the way my brother wants the Dutchess, maybe even more. I don’t care if it’s forbidden… I want you. I want you to hold me, and do what they do in the dramas that my mother makes me turn off whenever they come on.” Your whispers travel across his now heated face.

“You… you’ve had too much to drink.” You scoffed at his stammering, surprising Minho. “No, I know what I said and I mean it. I’m a grown woman Minho, treat me as such.” You frowned, tired of being treated so fragilely.

Minho took your hand off his face, gazing down at you. “… treat you like a woman…” He looked into your eyes as he trailed off, your eyes drifted down to his chest. You nodded, looking back up to see him with parted lips and a frown. “Are you… are you in love with me?” You scoffed, feeling defensive at the possibility of rejection.

“You can’t question feelings, Minho, it’s something we can’t entirely understand. If you don’t feel the same that’s fine, but don’t try to-”

“thank you… for loving me.” He whispered. You frowned, “what do you mean?” He chuckled softly, “Thank you, for having feelings for me.” You watched as he bowed, pressing a chase kiss to the back of your hand. You flinched at the warmth of his lips.

“Minho…” he stood up, his hands caressing your cheeks as he moved closer. “This is forbidden, what we’re about to do, you know well that it is. But yet i’d still risk it, your grace. You find me worth the risk, you confessing to me is more than enough reason.” You tilted your head in confusion, “W-what are we about to do, Minho?” He smiles. “I’m going to make love to you, if that’s ok. I feel as if you deserve it.” He whispers.

Your cheeks flush, for the first time your eyes want to look anywhere but him. You’ve never done anything intimate with another before. “I don’t want you to feel like you’re obligated to… to touch me.” You whispered, looking down at his lips instead of his eyes that were trying to find yours.

Your lips part as you feel a soft kiss pressed to your forehead, sighing as he then places one at the corner of your mouth. “I’ve been trying to be… respectful, your grace. But must you know, I've been wanting to feel your skin on mine for a while.” You tensed up at his confession. “H-huh?” Your voice was weak, a rush of arousal, heat making its way into your abdomen.

Minho’s thumb traced the outline of your cupid's bow. “Do you know how hard it’s been… hearing you touch yourself late at night, and all I can do is stand outside your door and listen?” Your face grew hot, “Listen to you whisper my name, you probably didn’t even mean too. Did you, your grace?” His voice was soft but that didn’t mean you were any less nervous. “U-uh, I thought I… I’m sorry, I didn’t realize.” Minho chuckled softly at your pity excuse of an alibi.

“You can’t help it, I know. I’m the only one who takes care of you, it’s natural for you to call out to me in times like that. I find it adorable actually, that you need me. Your fingers sliding into your cunt, wishing that it was any part of me doing it instead. Are my assumptions correct, hm?” Minho tilted his head, his fingers grabbing ahold of your chin, making you look at him. It was as if your heart was in your ears by how loud it was currently beating.

“But even though I wasn’t able to help you, you always managed to cum. I know exactly what you sound like when you get there, I memorized it; you sound so fucking sweet, if I could record it I would, your grace.” You took in a deep breath, “Min-”, “What do you imagine that makes you cum every time? Do you imagine that your precious fingers are mine? What about… hm,” you watched in disbelief as he pondered other possibilities. “Ah, my tongue tasting you. Catching every last bit of you, not wasting a drop. Is it that, your grace?”

You were speechless, your mind blank as all you could feel were his words gliding right through you and straight to your know throbbing core. Imagining the scenarios described to you, like you could feel it.

“Oh, what about this. Do you like thinking about how well I can fuck you? How Just me slipping into you can make all the frustration go away? How I can make your mind blank, your head fuzzy and your legs shake as I fuck you just the way you tell me too. Is that what gets you off, my grace?” You couldn’t help the soft whine that escaped your lips. Minho coos with a knowing grin, his hand traveling from your chin to grip your entire jaw, gently pulling you closer so the tip of your noses are grazing.

“So sweet, pretty, precious, aren’t you?” Your mind grew fuzzy. “Let me serve you, It’s my job; and I love to do my job.”

Hi hi!! I'm very excited to see a reverse-bang is happening! I'm already in way too many fandom events but oh well what's more lmao

ANyway! I wanted to ask, for the artists, does the AU we draw have to be something completly new, or can it be one we've drawn for before? If we've drawn it before does it matter if those drawings have been posted elsewhere? (I just want to be sure 'cos I have a few ideas and some are for AUs I've played with in the past and others are for AUs I haven't really touched yet)

Also! Once we're paired with our writer, can the artist share ideas for story or whatever that they might have had for the au? Or is it just like 'here's my art, good luck!', giving the writer free-reign. And can we do more art for our writer than just the original drawing?

Hello! No problem, we're happy people are excited!

The question of if you've posted about the AU before hits two snags, kind of.

The first one is anonymity. If you think that anyone who sees this AU will automatically know who submitted it, because it's a famous named au that people know from your blog— that would probably not be best to submit. I know art styles are often identifiable, but sign ups are still supposed to be reasonably anonymous. But if you've barely talked about it, go for it!

And the second one is the question about if a person has to consume like fifteen pieces and an essay to understand your art— that's not gonna work. The art pieces have to stand alone, whatever piece(s) you submitted. So if you have fifteen sketches in your drafts about this, but you can just make an awesome finished piece, then again, go for it!

So as long as your art will not immediately de-anon you and can stand along, submit away!

Once you're paired with the writer, you can share more ideas for story and brainstorming if you want, that would be awesome, but from a modly stance they're considered non-binding. The only information the person has to work with is the submitted information on the sign-up form. We want to make sure that the writer is jumping off of the art the artist provided, and any work they do is following from it and inspired by it, but after that point the writer does still have creative control over their own work. In the same way that last year we didn't want writers to be doing like— art orders that they'd only be happy with specific art— we want to make sure that artists are not doing fic commissions where they're basically ordering a fic to their specifications.

Which is way out beyond the edge of what you asked, I know you were just like "omg if I have extra ideas can I share them", and the answer to that is yes, but I just wanted to share the like end point rule of that from a mod standpoint, if you have creative differences. While you are absolutely free to share the ideas, we love the idea of collaborative brainstorming and that's one of the purposes of a big bang and the joys of working in teams, the writer can come up with their own ideas too if they want to, cause they're the one posting the work. So like in practice probably your writer will love to hear more ideas and work with them, in the same way that artists working with writers were happy to get extra details about what people looked like and what they were wearing (that happens with most events that I've seen). But at the end of it the person posting the fic gets final call about what goes into the fic, as long as they're adhering to the information posted in the sign-up. So yes absolutely you can be a brainstorming partner— but you're not a creative director— but being a brainstorming partner is awesome, go for it! Any amount of extra collaboration you can do with your partner rocks.

And absolutely you can do more art for your writer than your original piece! I know I've heard some artists talking already about how they intend to submit art, get matched to a writer, and then draw art based on the fic based on their art. We're gonna get nested art. Which absolutely rocks. If you want to do something like that, fill your boots, I can't wait to see what you come up with.

The baseline is that a big bang is about collaboration and working together with people. If you want to do *more* collaboration and working together with people, that's absolutely awesome and go for it.

1. What is your personal favorite (real) sex scene in the fic?

Ah this is so hard, because honestly I think it’s a tied between the first two. Because the first one is just the raw kind of heat and frustrated passion, but the second one is a little of that with the introduction of “oh wait actually maybe that’s not all it is”. If I HAD to choose, I guess I’ll say the second. Would love to hear other people’s opinions!

2. Which smut scene do you think is the most well written?

Okay I had to go back and reread them all and maybe it’s a bit of a cop out but I love the shower scene. It’s less detailed than the others but it’s very clear in my head and I liked the transition between the sex and the more intimate moments.

3. Which smut scene did you write first?

I mostly went in order for this fic! So that first time in the Order library was the first! (The only scene I remember writing out of order was that final scene outside of cottage—I've had that written since before chapter 3 was posted!)

4. Do you plan to write more smut?

I do! It won't be in everything I write, but I do have some other concepts/fics in my drafts. I unexpectedly had a ball with this and it's kind of hard to stop lol.

5. What's your favorite overall scene in the fic?

Shower scene. Hands down now and forever the shower scene. The idea that that's kind of like the shift in everything, and them finishing but just....staying there, connected, kissing (and through those kisses, at least on James' part, communicating things he's too scared to say). And then the follow up and the intimacy of just like, being together and showering together and those kind of gentle, not necessarily sexual touches. UGH. I'm sorry this is the scene I'm most insane over.

6. Whose POV was harder to write?

Weirdly, Lily's? I feel like I've been SO in her head lately for some other projects, it was just nice to be in James' head. And James is very straightforward, I think, with what he feels in this fic, whereas Lily has to come to terms with it. (Not that I don't LOVE writing that, but I think just wanting to make sure I wrote that believably contributed to a little more friction while writing Lily).

7. Knowing the other dreams James and Lily had but you perhaps didn't get to write about, who do you think has a naughtier mind between the two of them?

Okay so. I think for Lily for so long this has just (in her conscious mind) been about physical attraction. Her garden dream is the most...I'll say out there of the fantasies—all of James' were private moments (even the drunken alleyway snog), but Lily's garden moment was I think the riskiest we saw (OUT in the OPEN). So WITH all that preamble, I think Lily's dreams were a little more out there and riskier (against a window, chances of being caught, etc) BUT I think she's a bit better at controlling herself once they're together, and it's James that can't keep his hands off her and possibly instigates more of those scenarios.

8. [SPOILER ALERT] Did they actually eat lunch? James surely needed some carbs by that point but there were other things to finish when the story ended. 👀

Listen, maybe it's because I'm old (compared to them) but I do think they ate lunch. I think it was a very quick lunch and Lily was adorably a little nervous having him in her little flat, but James was just kind of in awe of this place he'd only seen like once irl and then reoccurring in her dreams of them. When they were done with lunch (or ate what they both deemed was 'enough for now'), she showed him her appreciation for the garden. They did not make it to her bedroom.

i actually don't know if i have synesthesia (but when i was a kid i would associate personalities(?) with the letters of the alphabet as well as numbers ? ? idk how to explain it but 3 would be this rly sweet character whereas the number 4 would be a bit on the shyer/quieter side,,, does that make sense ? bye where is this going O⁠_⁠o) but when i first saw ur post about cheol being burgundy it was just so,,, aaa idk it just made so much sense ? it was so intriguing that my mind had already associated certain colors w some of them and idk you gave me something really interesting to think about ! ! i even ended up writing something for the 95line bcs i was so inspired !!

hii omg let's talk colours!!

ive never seen someone associate numbers w personalities before (then again i literally know NO ONE else with synaesthesia lmao) but that's really interesting! all i know is that the even numbers are some form of orange/brown/yellow/red for me

i think synaesthesia is So intriguing and when i was a child i didn't even realize it was not normal to see colours for people and words until i told it to others and they were like "wait what, that's not normal" so yeah, im glad it gave you something to think about too!

wine red and burgundy omg you and me 🫶🫶🫶 that really is so close! the jihan colours are also vv interesting,, jeonghan as pink is something i can definitely see haha but for me jeonghan is literally everything colour and also transparent and clear at the same time so

and joshua! i have shua's synaesthesia just sitting in my drafts basically BEGGING for someone to request it bc i. i love his colour so much and it's so strong and even though i can't find any colour on earth that looks like the colour in my head perfectly i still love it so much. i think you'll love it too when i post it bc... again there's a crazy similarity here (but kinda in a different way,,, you'll have to see what i mean later on HAHA)

i would LOVE to see your writing for the 95 line! seeing the reasoning/ the feelings of the colours and how you describe it interests me so much. ive always wanted someone to share colours and reasoning of colours with, so of course!!!

been writing for other fandoms as of late which has got me thinking why is the rwby fandom so mean to its fanfic writers.

i dropped a fic because i had so many comments going "OMG this doesn't make any SENSE, WHY would you leave this OPEN TO INTERPRETATION? you SUCK as a writer."

and yeah. i am not the best writer. but this? i've seen it on other people's works too. there's a Flavor of people that is ultimately so ingrained in this fandom, people who want everything told to them immediately and will regularly trash on an author who is trying to build up a story to its climax for a big reveal or whatever.

then i took that same writing style to another fandom- and people were so kind. they were patient. they asked questions - sent me their theories! they were so, so nice. It was a breath of fresh air in comparison.

yes, you need to grow a thicker skin while posting your stuff online because people Will See It, and Will Develop an Opinion. But there's this part of the rwby fandom that is so, so, so entitled.

i haven't been able to write because of life. but i genuinely want to go back to writing, and one of the things i have in my drafts is the next episode for one of those abandoned rwby fics, with a story idea i had in my mind for a long time and wanted to flesh out. sitting there, looking at me, making me think about how if i post it i'll more than not receive hate comments.

and yeah - criticism is meant to help a person see which flaws they could get better at. but outright complaining will never be criticism. there is no such thing as destructive criticism, that's just shit talking.

Last year I got diagnosed with heightened insulin resistance. Not diabetes level, but higher than it should be. One of the consequences I took was to drastically decrease my sugar intake. Which, BY THE WAY, was already below average for my country. Not that my doctor would believe me. Anyway.

Some observations, since what actually happened is so different from what articles on the internet will tell you:

Starting in November was a bad idea. It went well until Christmas. Starting again in March was more successful. Sorry for posting this now lol. Not keeping this in my drafts until spring.

You get used to less sugar over time. Sweet things start to taste more sweet. Things easily taste too sweet.

Eventually sugar isn't as desirable anymore as it was. I started noticing this after about 5 months, so it took a while. It's not like YouTubers claim "Oh my life changed within a month, I feel so different!" I think that's probably a placebo effect tbh, but maybe their metabolisms adapt more quickly? Idk. I feel like I make more of a conscious decision if I want to eat something sweet now, because my brain doesn't have the "OMG YES HAPPINESS IN THE FORM OF A COOKIE!! YOU SHOULD TAKE IT!" response anymore but rather an "It's an option" response.

Having one day a week where you're allowed candy helps. I make a little ritual out of it and look forward to it.

In practice I usually eat candy 2 days a week. In July it was down to 3 days a week, so maybe I'll reach "1 day a week" eventually.

I have also started mixing whole-grain rice (expensive! Whole grain long grain is a bit cheaper than whole-grain basmati though) into my usual rice and baking bread with somewhat darker flour (type 550 instead of 405 ). It tastes and looks literally the same, but apparently it's better for you.

I do kinda "have more energy", as advertised. I get more done and feel less foggy mentally. Also, my blood sugar feels more stable. When I can't get food at my usual time, it's not as big a deal as it used to be, but I don't really know if that's because of the sugar thing or due to something else.

I obviously haven't lost any weight lol, because only lucky people whose genetics and hormones make "thin" their default state think it's that easy. My skin also doesn't look better. Really I have noticed no cosmetic effect at all.

I have to pee less often at night, often not at all

My migraines are rarer than they used to be, but again, it's hard to tell if the sugar was the reason. A lot of things have changed over the last 1 1/2 years, and the migraine frequency started going down before my sugar intake did. But things have also improved markedly over the past half year, especially the last 2 months. I think this is the biggest benefit I have noticed.

I haven't been back for another blood test so far, so I don't know yet if this was effective in the first place. But at least it should be good for my teeth and for anti-cancer protection, right?

The general tl;dr is that it did change some things when I started eating less sugar, but the change was slow and non-dramatic. It didn't all become completely different after a few weeks. But now, after half a year, I look back and see that it has probably improved my life to eat less sugar.

Just from my last couple fics, I like this paragraph of a Callian (Lie to Me) fanfic:

'Cal and Gillian have never been single at the same time. And a part of Gillian has always believed that that was the real reason why they have never made a go of it. It had been a guilty thought, hastily pushed away while she had still been with her husband, but sometimes she couldn't help thinking: if I was free, and he was free, we'd not stay that way for long. '

Bc I think it fits their relationship (or lack thereof) vry well :)

What kind of document do you use to you write? Microsoft Word? Google Docs? Straight in the AO3 text box?

Usually on my phone in a telegram messenger chat with just myself in it, I write '#wip' '#nobackup' 'wip: [fictext]', when I post it I delete the '#wip' message, when I backup sth to my laptop/hard drive I delete the '#nobackup' message, and I can easily search it all

When I'm on my laptop I write in Word

Sometimes when I want to finish sth (either really short fics I write in one go eg drabbles, or half finished fics I just want to get done), I write directly in an Ao3 draft knowing I have to finish within the month or it'll auto delete xD (yes I could just copy it before that happens but still, the deadline pressure makes me write more)

hi anon!! Yes, Freedom of a Songbird is a hybird!Taehyung story that has been sitting in my drafts for a long time!! I just haven't really got to writing it yet since i've been focusing more on OT7 stories. So this is actually the contents of the story below (but i'll change it depending on the drafts of course!]

As for Just Across The Hall, it has honestly been one of my most active drafts that I write! The idea stemmed from wanting the reader to be a 'bad guy' and the BTS member to be the 'good guy'. After drafting, I felt like Jungkook fit the idea of the protagonist the most! It is a Jungkook x Reader but the other BTS members are side characters!

Finally, he was able to look over at Jimin, noting the bandage wrapped around his knuckles and the light cut on his cheek, yet chose not to bring it up. They were all old enough to know the dangers of their work, there was no use commenting anymore.

“She hates that place and yet, she can’t leave it to rot because it’s her home. All her memories are there.” Jimin sighed, leaning against the railing.

“With everything she has been through, she has learnt to hate it.” Yoongi said. He took a cigarette out with his free hand and lit it with the lighter around Jimin’s neck before doing the same for Jimin.

“Those wounds can never be healed. Ever.” Jimin looked at the sky.

I said I was going to post about my fencing experience but then life got in the way, I finally drafted up a whole thing, and then I just lost it all (thanks tumblr!) I sometimes run into a bug where if I resize my browser window, tumblr just loses my post. :;aksd;fajs;dfja;sdf

I don't know if I have the desire or time to write all that again tonight, so my recap will have to wait again.

But like. The brief summary is:

it's been fifteen years since I fenced

I had anxiety looking for a new place (I moved states since I last fenced, and I had some poor experiences with other coaches back in the day when I used to fence)

I did SO MUCH research to find a new place (yep I have a spreadsheet)

I settled on a place that was decently close (20ish minutes), had good recommendations, and had a schedule that worked for me

I was SO NERVOUS leading up to it because still not over COVID and being around strangers indoors, and I haven't fenced in FIFTEEN YEARS, and my equipment is also very old

I was definitely super awkward because how do you interact with people in person again?

Everyone was so nice and welcoming

Being on the fencing strip! Holding the sword! the way the rest of the world fades away when you put on your fencing mask! AHHH!!!

I was so overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions

like, i haven't accessed this knowledge in fifteen years! and i have 6 years worth of training! it was like information overload

But i was fencing again!!!!

It was surreal, absolutely surreal

I managed to even get a few touches on my opponents, but honestly also they probably got cheated out of a few touches against me because of my equipment being old

Like apparently they have new chest protectors now

because they updated some rules about the length of time the tip of the blade has to be pressed to count as a touch and the old chest protectors could sorta mess with the timing

kind of like the blade just glanced off when really it should have hit

But anyways! i scored! i didn't get steam rolled!

and they were like "hope to see you next week"

I was also like internally like "omg i hope i did not accidentally make any etiquette faux pas bc i wouldn't know it's been so long ahhh"

they run classes differently than my old coach but that's not a bad thing, actually probably makes more sense for what i'm looking for these days

the only thing is that they are the most expensive club around as far as i can tell

my spouse really wants me to try at least one other place but maybe two

this gives me anxiety bc like, i did the research up front! i did!

and also like, this place went well, i have already imprinted on it and feel a sense of loyalty, stupid i know but i'm weird like that

also trying new places means i have to meet a bunch of new people all over again, overwhelming

but like the cost is a factor sigh

so anyways, i will not be going back to the same place THIS WEEKEND, and actually, I'm really sad about it :/ which i think says a lot

hopefully tho i can go through the motions of trying other places and cutting some other costs to make room in the budget so i can keep going to this place

BUT UHM YES if you do ever someday properly play ff and fe i’d be really happy but pls /nf !!! and i hope you do enjoy if ever!! <3 tbh i’m a bit >:( when it comes to some stuff abt specifically uhh 7 13 15 and 3h but generally i still love them lots <3 personally i’d def rec xiv even if you aren’t a fan of mmorpgs bcs it’s def an rpg first >< also imo the best final fantasy overall!! even best mmo and def one of the best stories i’ve ever seen ,, BJSDHBG but from the single players, it’s a bit depending on your taste but safe best for sure is 9! overall i’d say the best, from what i’ve heard :O below 7 is not 3d yet but i’m biased to 3 bcs of 14, for reasons, and 4 is <3! and 6 def has prolly the best story from what i’ve heard if not for 14!! 8 is heavily romance based ?? but i personally love the themes sm >< 7 is rlly famous and probably the biggest franchise in the ff franchise :O if you ignore ffxiv HJBHDG! i’d def rec it too <3 10 is my first and rlly special to me and i’d def rec it too for sure!! 12 is more political but personally i love it. havent playe dbut uhm yes. tactics i’ve heard is incredibly good ^^ i barely know it. barely being a bit of an understatement uhhh ik some of the story!! yes!! okay squints that’s all i can talk abt rn help it just turned 5 JBGDHJGB ALSO I’M INTERESTED IN OMORI I ALMOST FORGOT!! horror scares me but ik omori is rlly good <3 i’m just watching bcs i might waste money on not playing if i buy it myself <//3 ^^

I haven't been online much recently, because something just ended in my life (nothing to worry about. Don't worry. I feel like this every summer.) And I'm adjusting to the new thing.

Also, I finished a novel and I've given it to some people to read it and tell me their thoughts on it. It's my first actual novel, so I don't think this one is gonna be published. But you never know what life may bring, I guess!🙃🩷🩷

Recently I also read over another novel I've written and....... I'm not content💀💀, so I want to rewrite almost the entire thing sometime. (That actually made me feel a little discouraged and down about my writing for some time and I'm still recovering from writer's block from it. I had high hopes for that novel and turns out, every single line I've read made me wanna pull my hair out. But there are scenes in there that hold great potential, so it just needs reconstruction.)

AND I'm in the middle of writing the first draft of yet another novel. Idk how that's gonna go. I have a great idea in my head, I just need to get it on paper. I dropped it for some time, because I was loosing track of my characters a bit, but now I've picked it up again.

But that doesn't mean I'm ignoring your fics🩷🩷💜💜💜💜💙💙💙❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 Every fic I have received will be written. I'm just asking for a little patience, because my brain's still recovering from writer's block and for forgiveness from everyone who's been waiting for months to see their requests published.💖💖💖💖💕💕💕💕💕💕

It's hard to watch Tribute shows when the artist meant so much to you. Not that it was a tribute show but I had an emotional time watching the last Hip show when it aired. I had been invited to watch with friends but I choose to stay home alone and sit on my couch with a box of tissues. That's another amazing doc Long Time Running!

That's awesome you want to learn Guitar! And Van Halen were amazing. Of the 3 frontmen which was your favourite? Apart from Metallica and Megadeth which really scratched my angry itch so to speak as a teen, I spent a lot of time with strong female singer songwriters (Stevie Nicks; Amy Winehouse; Beth Hart; Patti Smith; etc..). Pearl Jam also really helped me with some things. Eddies lyrics hit really close to home sometimes.

Me and the mutuals do a lot of music tag games. Although I've been slacking lately and I have a few sitting in my drafts waiting. If I see a post I think one of them will like I make sure to tag them and they do the same for me. I love that all our interests are so varied yet we all meet through music.

Wow. Have you had any mutauls since the beginning? Have you meant any of them in real life?

Well I technically have had my account for 6 or 7 yrs but I never posted anything back then. I was the Pyramid icon and just checked out blogs but never interacted for some reason. Then I kinda forgot about it lol. But 2 yrs ago I decided to find fellow PJ fans and made a real blog and have had the best time since.

What's you go to comfort meal? I have Crock Pot Chili cooking at home as I type and I can't wait to have a massive bowl of it after work. I like it spicy and I love to eat it with nacho chips 😋

Hi! Absolutely obsessed with your three carlando fics, they are all so brilliantly and beautifully written they make me cry and I just love them all<3 I was wondering if you had any writing advice? Like in terms of just writing but also developing plots and writing long fic? Your dialogue is also SO good yet natural but also just SO funny in parts (like your side character Charles makes me laugh every time!! I love him omg, also Daniel in see you again!) so what is your secret regarding dialogue!!! I feel like it’s hard to make dialogue/plot funny while still keeping the serious/balance of a plot, so any advice is helpful!! Hi there!! First of all, thank you so much and thank you for the questions!

I know that every person has a diffrent approach to writing and what works for one might totally not work for the other, so I feel like I can give less "advice" and more just explain my process and maybe someone will be able to take something away from it or try out a new things!

Ramblings below the cut because I’ve never been known to keep things short!

So funnily enough, dialogue and plot development kind of go hand in hand for me to be honest. When I plan my plots and/or scenes I usually plan around the dialogue.

In practice, that means, I usually have an idea for an interaction in my mind and I write down the dialogue pretty much word for word, like you would read in a written version of a play. It helps me figure out the flow of the interaction, the way characters react to each other and how sarcasm or jokes can be folded into the conversation without sticking out too much. (Like for "trackside", it started with the Hungary chapter where Charles loses his mind and the dialogue didn't really change all that much from the very original version.)

With one idea like that, I usually go from there to plan out a story and that means brainstorming for a plot, writing everything down that comes to mind, general story arches to see where chapters/story sections would fit together, overall motives, character developments, running jokes, etc., just things that I want to keep in mind to make the story into a cohesive unit (again, "trackside" for example had the apartment plot, "see you again" was literally the phrase weaved into conversations along the way (Carlos asking "Will I see you again?" several times, then reversing it before the reunion in Paris to Lando asking, "Will you see me?", the upcoming spies AU (not a spoiler) is big on the motive of air/breathing that gets picked up throughout the story and these are things that I don't really need readers to consciously pick up on but it's what I hope makes the stories feel more like a unit than a series of chapters.)).

And then I usually go into an actual rough draft which for me means going through the story and writing out what I can already think of in terms of plot and that's usually a lot of bullet points and A LOT of dialogue. (Example again, for "see you again", the dialogue in the scene where Lando finally tells his family after they published the fotos, I had that dialogue written before I posted the first chapter, same with the scene where Charles finds out and where Carlos talks to Zak. And it kind of keeps me going through the chapters I haven't fleshed out as much).

These rough drafts for me are usually LONG, they're like a third of the story fully written in bullet points and dialogue. For "see you again", it was probably like 30 pages. It's maybe not the most effective way of going about it but it helps me a lot when writing long stories to know where the story is going and have some "way markers", I guess, that keep me on track and keep me motivated. Like, hey, I've made it to this scene that I've already written out in dialogue and now it's fun to polish it up and see how it actually fits with the rest of the story. And then the writing just flows (of course, there are moments where it doesn't and things come to a halt, that's just normal but it helps me personally to already see where I am going and what I can look forward to later down the road when there's a scene or dialogue I am really proud of).

Quick note on side characters: I usually get way to into side characters because, for me, they take a motive or a story line and turn it on its head or into a different direction because they are a different character. And these glimpses show you what else could happen. That’s Max and Daniel in “trackside”, for sure and Charles, of course. In each of the stories, he is always someone who lives through the story as a bystander but on closer look, his character, his storylines, if they were fleshed out, could have so many parallels to the main stories and hinting that, in my mind, strengthens and makes the main plot seem more natural because it’s one of the stories that is looked at more closely but there are so many other things going on and that’s just how things are. You put a magnifying glass on the main plot but if you were to zoom out, the side characters are just doing their own thing and I think that’s why I get so attached. (Maybe I went a bit too far with “trackside” Charles because in the end, he felt like more of a main character too and now I just can’t let go of that, haha, so I would advise caution.)

Anyway!! I don't know how much actual advice is in this all but I suppose, to make it a bit shorter: Maybe it's worth trying to write dialogue more like a play, don't worry about how many times you use "said" or what gestures and facial expressions are used, a lot is conveyed through the words alone. And you will know in your mind how you want the characters to say the words so then you can incorporate that into the actual, fully written out scene. Maybe it will help making the dialogue feel more natural, it does for me!

And for planning out longer stories - maybe you don't need to know every plot detail first but just what keeps the story moving, where you want the characters to go, how you want to readers' emotions to develop, which juxtapositions run through the story and which conflicts lead to solutions and what maybe isn’t resolved. And then the specific story builds itself around that, I find. Again, this is what works for me and there are still roadblocks on the way but yeah, try out different things, asks different writers what they do and try it out for yourself! I'm sure people are happy to talk about their process!
