Happy Monday fandom :) I love these episodes for them. I know they’re not always a fan favorite but I adore them. Just for the Chenford content alone. The married moments, the touching, the sassy banter. What’s not to love? Just like I did for 3x07 I’ll just be analyzing their moments in this ep. Since they’re disconnected from rest of group for most part. Let's get going shall we?

4x16 Real Crime

Sunshine x Grumpy at it's absolute finest kicking this episode off. Lucy is so jazzed to be back. Her little foot kick after she asks how they are? I cannot. She’s so cute. Tim is already over it from the moment his sexy ass hits that chair. It’s so friggin funny. Our king of expressions is on one in this ep. Tim judges Lucy the entire time with serious sass throw in. Their banter mode is on right away and never turns off. We start off with them asking Tim if he saw the last one? Of course he didn't...

Why would he? The only way he would watch it is if Lucy forced him to. haha Lucy rolling her eyes at his answer but with a hint of fondness. She loves her grumpy old man so much. The married train has officially left the station. All aboard. The ride is gonna be hilarious. Tim gets them back on track saying they were first responders to the scene. Tim notes how frustrating it was with all the cameras and coverage nobody saw anything. Nothing useful for the investigation. I mean that is ridiculous tbh. I'm with him on that one.

Lucy tries to add colorful sound bites and Tim is judging her so damn hard. The amount of sass in that second gif. He was not about that line at all. Like who are you right now? Their mini fight in front of the interviewer I’m dying. ‘Why are you SO happy?’ 'I'm being colorful!' LMFAO Lucy defends why she’s doing this and Tim can’t believe it. The bickering in hushed tones is too funny. Like a true couple. Lucy imitating a wife scolding her husband while defending herself.

God I love these idiots sfm. Naturally this is the last thing Tim wants to be doing. The shake of his head above is one of many to come. We all know he would much rather be out on the streets than dealing with this circus. Lucy going the opposite direction. Wanting to get them as many segments as possible We all know the less he's in this the better for him. He barely wants to be in the amount he's in now. heh

This next section is one of my faves. First off I love and commend Lucy’s confidence to just rap in public. I adore her so very much. She couldn’t be cuter in this episode if she tried. Of course she has a karaoke jam I adore her. She is more than happy to share this info. We’ve talked about Eric’s comedic timing. He is absolute gold in this.

His reactions from start to finish are what make this portion so amusing. Goes from 'Huh?' to 'WTF is happening?' It's so funny every time I watch it. Tim doesn't need to say anything. His facial expressions say it all. The sheer amount of judgement he is throwing her way is immense. This is the woman you’ve chosen to love Timothy LOL

Lucy is in her own world as she jams this out. Tim is next her with all the judgment he can muster. These moments are one of the many reasons why he loves her though. Just being 100 percent herself no shame in the game. We know it’s these types of goobery scenes that he actually enjoys from her. She looks so joyful and happy when she turns to sing at him. Then she see's his reaction.... Prompting the iconic line below that always makes me laugh.

Tim’s confusion of her rapping is everything I have to say. I think she’s partly trying to impress him with her rapping skills. He doesn’t give her anything though. LOL They’re so cute I might burst. The marriage moment to end this scene is the best. ‘Can I be interviewed alone? ‘ LMFAO. She is already over his grumpy ass and I’m laughing so hard. Eric and Melissa play off each other so well. It’s a delight to watch them. They have so much chemistry just sitting next to one another. It''s unreal.

We flit back to them talking about Aaron’s father’s musical partner. Tim delivers a ‘colorful’ sound bit of his own. Lucy is beaming with pride. So much so she has to say to make sure it's noted. Interrupting to heap on that praise. Then casually touches his arm. Not a short touch either. It's 4 seconds. Yes I counted heh She lingers. I love watching Tim get all fidgety and hot under the collar after she does this.

Wringing his hands to shake off the feelings washing over him. Trying not to have his feelings recorded for this documentary. Too late... It’s so cute because one he clearly got a little contact high off that touch. Two she just complimented him publicly with the proudest look on her face. He is riding high ha Look at her. That is proud wifey mode right there. Especially after he thanks her for the compliment.

She tries to put herself back in check but is brimming with giddiness. It's adorable. I cannot with these two. *heart clutch* Be more in love please. It's one of those 'Everyone knows but them moments.' He’s also just so cute when he says ‘Thanks..’ haha Oh my Timothy you are so out of your depth with this documentary. But so adorable I wanna squeeze you. Part me of thinks he was trying to get into this for Lucy. Impress her a little with his quote. Mission accomplished sir. Your girl was very proud. Love these idiots in love so much.

Their chemistry is so palpable in these scenes. They're asked a question about the knife in Aaron's kitchen. Saying his DNA was all over the murder weapon. Well duh....Lucy slams the interviewer hard with some solid logic and sass. They're trying to implicate Aaron for having DNA all over the knife in his kitchen... Lucy absolutely destroys this guy's stupid question. Then starts to feel bad afterwards. Checks in with hubby and asks if that was too mean?

Lucy couldn't be cuter turning to her person for feedback. Her immediate reaction to do so getting me all in the feels. I adore him backing her like he does. She looks to him for reassurance and he gives it to her in spades. Saying no that it actually felt good. To be able to stick it to them a bit. You know he is proud of her for doing so. Instead of doing an evocative soundbite she knocked them down a peg. He didn't need to help her in the dept. But the support one? Nailed it.

I love her proud and smug face when he says it was a dumb question. Careful Lucy your feelings are showing my love. Look at her in that first gif. She a ten but crap at hiding her feelings. The second gif is that same look she always gets when he compliments her. *sigh* I just love them. He backs her so fiercely here and Lucy is so ecstatic with his reply. It’s all over her face especially in the last one. That smug smile when he validates her is everything fo her. Basically saying my hubby says I'm right so that means I am haha

Tag team of smug righteousness and it’s amazing. He is oozing proudness in this moment for her. He followed it up with having her back and she’s a happy girl. Let’s not forget the gloriousness that is Tim’s biceps and forearms out on display. Mmm defending his girl and his arms are crossed? Pass the ice water imma need it. This man is deliciously fit and I too am a happy girl in this moment.

The case leads them to a woman named Colette who was brought home to their apt that same night. She had a controlling BF that was never questioned. Cue back to Lucy and Tim. Lucy explaining how a group of internet sleuths found him. How they spent countless hours investigating Aaron’s case. Tim notes this group also pointed the finger at a lot of innocent people ruining their lives… Lucy comments some of the members went little too far.... That's putting it lightly. lol

It’s here the interviewer reveals a prominent poster named ‘truecrimejunkie.’ Implying it’s Lucy who posts under that name. The amount of sass Tim is throwing her way is hysterical. I'm laughing so very hard. Tim’s reaction is the best part of this whole scene. It’s the intense stare down he does. This episode has me laughing from beginning to end. The way he fully turns to her is hilarious. Making fun of his wife with just a look. Lucy stumbling around for words and coming up short.

That moment when your husband finds out about your secret internet life LOL Lucy could not be more embarrassed. Stuttering trying to defend herself to Tim. It’s so funny. It finishes off with Tim’s ‘Seriously?’ Eric and Melissa are a god damn treasure. We are so lucky to have them. It's truly mind blowing the chemistry these two have just with their banter alone. What makes these episodes so very good with their segments. They are the best part with their back and forth. I love this episode for them. I defy you not to laugh or smile with this one.

It comes out Aaron’s mom was in Paris the day Patrick was murdered. Lucy gets all hyped up when they ask what they thought of this? The true crime junkie in her coming out. Saying what a game changer it was. Tim brings her back down to earth with his reply. Lucy doing her cute ‘Well yeah…’

Tim shaking his head. Not at her but this whole documentary. He hates the feelings/people being exploited in this whole thing. Doesn’t sit well with him at all. Once again proving Tim is just a good man on the daily. Not trying to impress anyone with it. It's just who he is as person. His integrity deeply ingrained in him.

Unlike the clown. He's not even in this one but I had to point this out and take a shot. lol Also let's not ignore the GLORIOUS forearm/bicep porn here. My god it's a miracle his work shirt contains those guns of his. Bursting at the seams with muscled goodness. I’m here for it. He could bench press me any day. I'm available is all I'm saying...

We cut back to Tim and Lucy talking about the case being closed. They have their killer finally. Aaron has been exonerated in the process. She starts on another ‘colorful’ bit and stops herself. Rubbing her tattoo feeling how wrong this is. The way she stops herself mid sentence knowing this. Tim jumping in saying ‘Feels gross doesn’t it?’ She agrees and says 'Yeah.'

Look at Lucy growing in this documentary at the end. No longer wanting to do 'colorful' sound bites to get them more time. Being much more focused on respecting those involved. Her ending statement is much better than her potential ‘juicy sound bite’ Look at our babies still growing. I love this episode. So nice to have after a clown fueled previous ep.

Everyone is funny on these types of episodes. Always enjoy their bits. Especially Harper haha

Patrick’s dad coming to apologize to Aaron was a really nice way to close that chapter of his life. Was very sweet.

☕️! Maybe like each season of hannibal? In order of goodness or maybe any favorite episodes, and also, how did you feel about devilman crybaby if you watched it? And the miki's as characters, hopefully these are fun ones!

I think in order of somewhat objective quality it goes season one -> season 2 -> season 3. In order of my personal preference it goes season 3 -> season 2 -> season 1 lol.

So like, I think season 1 is very consistent tonally which gives it an edge, as well as being seamless plot-wise, and seeding subtle, excellent character stuff. It took me like 4 watches to feel like I fully understood what happened, and I consider that a good thing because it is completely coherent and not contradictory, it's just... unexpected, and effectively obscured. That said, it's my least fave because while it has possibly my favourite ep (Sorbet) it's just not quite gay enough yet.

Season 2 is fantastic but imo stumbles slightly in the second half, it comes too ungrounded and the vibe gets a little weird around the murder furry episodes - which isn't a bad thing on its own, but in comparison to the rest of the season it feels a little out of place. The plot is good but a little shaky and thematically muddy (Will's post-encephalitis clarity vs whats-her-name's brainwashing, the parallels that don't really come to anything and end up contradicted 2 eps later, eg).

On the other hand, dear god do I love Will falling for Hannibal while fantasizing about murdering him, Tome-Wan is incredible, Mizumono is incredible, Chilton is incredible, it's so delightful, so fun, so homoerotic, the second half with Will manipulating Hannibal in contrast to season 1 is *chef kiss* and then in parallel to Hannibal also being unable to follow through properly bc of his feelings...

Season 3 is a fever dream, with incredible highs and a few lows. It no longer even offers the pretense of being grounded, it's just flying off the handle, and it's delightful, I adore it, but yk, it's a little flawed because of it, and the plot details don't always make perfect sense, and the character motivations are sometimes... pretty iffy. Also I have a lot of resentment towards Alana's "bone marrow got into my brain so I'm different now" line because come the fuck on, you don't need an explanation for her character shift - trauma and betrayal is the explanation, it's organic, why would you add that in??? I hate artificial explanations for basic character development sfm lol. But that's minor comparatively.

Season 3 is my favourite because it's a double gay romance, Hannibal and Will are both disasters with and without each other, Hannibal throws away his ideal life to live in prison in the hopes of seeing Will again someday, Will throws away his ideal life to get murdered with Hannibal by the guy who only kills families, all of Digestivo exists, "You're gonna eat him... with my face." It's all so good. High Bedelia, Jack destroying Hannibal, romantic parallels everywhere, "Is Hannibal... in love with me?" Hannibal splitting for the first time when he sics D on Will's family, craving change, "I gave you a child, if you recall," I just. There will never be a show as perfect as this again.

Also my favourite episodes are Sorbet, Tome Wan, and Digestivo.

Sorbet is the perfect Hannibal episode, it's all about how strongly he feels, how emotional he actually is (it opens with him crying at an opera performance hello), how much he loves life, yet how lonely he really is. The Franklyn/Hannibal parallel is my favourite piece of writing ever fuckin put to screen I s2g.

Tome Wan is fantastic, it's the Murder Husbands episode, Will is in control here, and now that he's finally in control and able to get his revenge on Hannibal finally he saves his life instead. It ends with Will literally telling Hannibal to tell Jack he's a serial killer and Hannibal agreeing. That's now Will's - successful til he hangs out with Freddie - plan to catch Hannibal: "Go tell the head of the FBI you're a serial killer and I promise I'll run away with you." "Okay sounds legit."

Digestivo is just incredible. It's so fucking fun, so funny, and it ends with Hannibal - in counterpoint to the book its adapting in which he kidnaps and brainwashes Clarice - tucking Will into bed, trying to turn back time and unkill Abigail while waiting for him to wake up, and then turning himself in and going to jail. Come on. It's perfect.

I'm gonna put the Devilman stuff into a new post so I can at least post this tonight lol. I'll @ you in it.

those comments are pissing me off the longer I sit on them and I need to vent. again please do not reblog this I am not here to start shit or debate people I am just expressing frustration in my own space

first of all Estinien’s attraction to WoL is just as ~instant~ as the other lads any damn way, if WoL isn’t a Dragoon he literally says “my blood fair sang” when he heard they were coming to that parley at Camp Dragonhead, the very first time they would have met (and let’s not forget the thirsty camera angles framing him like a femme fatale)

more importantly though like. one of the very best things about this corner of the fandom is just how multiship and polyship friendly it’s been. quite possibly the friendliest and most chill and welcoming of polyshipping I’ve ever encountered and it’s been such a balm and an encouragement for me as a poly person who primarily writes polyships, and with these specific Ishgardians. Even people who don’t ship these elves together have historically been very chill towards those of us who do. And a lot of us do!!! This is one time polyshipping is popular!!! And all three of The Lads(tm) are comfort characters to me, all of their relationships with Gisele and with each other (and Ysayle/Steph) mean so damn much to me, I refuse to choose a favorite one because I love and appreciate the differences in the dynamics sfm. And I have been so heartened by the response to my fics and gpose etc. Not one person has ever implied one is better than the other. Not one has ever denigrated folk for polyshipping them. this is the closest thing to a safe space for myself and my work as a poly person that I have had in literal years

So the idea that anybody would start up with the ship superiority complex, and try to disrupt that? isn’t just disheartening, it’s infuriating. I left the BW fandoms in large part because of that kind of shit, because of prescriptivists and deranged stans of various LIs who were convinced the only way to gas up their fave was to tear down others, folk who were not content unless LIs were pitted against each other and their fave was The Best. God forbid you or your OC should love more than one or ship them together.

Fam, all of us are just working with the ship tease given and our own interpretations of canon. One True Wayism is fucking absurd in every fandom but it’s extra fucking stupid in this one. there is no canonical romance in this game!!!

Because I saw your art and I want to get into those fandoms, but I'm not really good at online games and they give me anxiety. What am I supposed to do? HI HI THANKS FOR ASKING ME THIS 😳😳😳 I got into overwatch the moment it was released and I couldn’t play the game for over a year, so I know how it feels,, the fun thing about both games is that you can really just ignore the game itself and enjoy the characters and story!

I’m gonna put everything under the cut because the post became longer than what I expected,,

OVERWATCH

one of the sad things about ow is that they retconned some stuff and some lore bits are really blurry and confused (for example they had D.va be a Starcraft pro-gamer or smth and then they just removed the info idk why) ; I was really into the ow lore since I couldn’t play the game at first, but as time went on I just kinda stopped bothering with it? reading the characters’ profiles gives you an idea of who they are and what they do tho so that’s nice

- so, first, you have the animated shorts, (AND FOR SOME REASON THE BEST ONE ISN’T INCLUDED IN THIS PLAYLIST) which are what really pulled me into it! After them you can read the comics, some of which are tied to seasonal events, like ‘Uprising’; they’re listed in reverse chronological order, so the first you should read is Train Hopper (tho most of them aren’t related to each other anyway) - side note, in the same page as the comics there’s also the short stories! But I only read Ana’s so I dunno much about what happens in the others :’)

- speaking of seasonal events, every year around april there’s the Archives event, which recount the events of specific moment in overwatch/blackwatch history - you can watch the gameplay and cinematics for those here!

- the thing about OW is that there was a constant adding of new heroes, and with those there were origin stories released - there isn’t an official playlist for these ones, and the best way to watch them in one place is here ( you need to scroll down a bit); for some reason Blizzard never uploaded a good quality of Tracer’s origin story, so here it is

if you expect to see something related to lucio or zenyatta, i regret to inform you we’re still waiting for that stuff :°°]

TF2

Okay so tf2 didn’t really have a story at first, aside the set up of two brothers hiring mercenaries to fight each other, but as time went on they expanded on it with the comics; it’s a lot more graphic than OW so warning for tons of blood and gore in 90% of this stuff

- first thing, watch the ‘Meet the Team’ videos; they’re focused on each merc so you get a LOT of characterization for the most part and tbh I love them for that; there’s also a playlist with outtakes from Meet the Medic

- NOW the comics! Where the lore starts! They’re split into TF comics and Update comics; the TF ones are where the story happens while the update comics are more related to, well,, game updates, though there are still some bits of important stuff that you need to know to get into the main story; if you want to skip the update ones and go directly to the TF comics tho, read the catch up comic so you know the set up! Even if you read the update ones first, the catch up comic is super helpful;

- other animated shorts! Expiration Date (my beloved) was released along an in game update and is also the only relic of a time where TF2 could’ve been an animated series for adult swim; End of the Line is a community made video, for a community made update, so it’s not canon material but it’s still really nice; Jungle Inferno was released with the homonym update and it’s also been the last official animated short,, for now,,, hopefully,,

- the Mann vs Machine and The Sound of Medicine are TECHNICALLY tied to the main turning point of the story, though the shorts are more focused on the characters/gameplay once again, so you can watch them even if you have no idea of what’s going on in the comics - they’re fighting robots! Medic is cool!

aside the official stuff, Valve used to host the Saxxy Awards, which were basically contest for animated shorts - all the entries aren’t canon obviously, but some of those + a lot of other SFM/GMOD videos on youtube are REALLY good and fun; I’m not gonna list my faves here since it’s already a pretty long post but uuuh if you ever want a quick list, just send another ask anon, i’ll happily oblige 😳👌

For both ow and tf2, you can also look up the wikia pages of the characters and listen to their voicelines/interactions with other characters, those are always fun!

I remember the first time I watched the Doctor Who episode “Journey’s End” (or was it “The Stolen Earth”? w/e, it was one of them) I was shouting at Rose to drop her gun during the scene in which she’s reunited with the Doctor. After all, had she dropped her gun, she could have really sprinted to him, instead of having to awkwardly run while lugging around a firearm half her size.

But every time I re-watch that scene, I also remember that since the Doctor was running faster than Rose was, it means he crossed a greater distance than she did. Had she been sprinting, and running at her full speed, it’s highly likely that she would have reached that midway point first. And this means that there’s a good chance that the Dalek would have seen her first, that she would have been shot instead, and unlike the Doctor, Rose does not have two hearts and cannot regenerate. She would have been dead before she hit the ground.

All things considered, it’s a damn good thing she did not drop that gun.

🎁: Best gift you ever received and why

That’s a tough one! Gotta admit, when I was a kid I received a sock monkey for Christmas one year. He was based off the movie “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium”, so he has a heart sewn onto his chest with an “M” on it. He also came with a red wagon to be pushed around in! That little guy meant the world to me for the longest time, and I still have both him and his wagon! He always felt so full of love and I would draw him in my sketchbook like he was going on little adventures. Yet like the creative little kiddo I was, I decided to name him “Sock Monkey”. That’s still his name all these years later, too.

🌡: Fave season

Spring (If allergies aren’t a factor)! The weather is super nice, color comes back into nature, and things just feel super uplifting in a sense 🌸

THE REVEAL AT THE END THREW ME FOR A NEW ONE but yes we stan kureno! his "survivor's" guilt about being the only one free adds so much depth to his character beyond being loyal to akito. my fave characters are shigure and hatori i just love seeing them interact and banter and HATORI'S BACKSTORY 😭😭😭

OH MY GOSH YESSS!! Did you read the manga?? They honestly did that scene so well... it was just such a pretty scene compared to the manga’s art style😅

this is a hard one, bc i love gurinder chadha (i saw her doing a talk a couple years ago and it was amazing!!) and i love the concept of this film but... eh. well, like i said, i tend to be judgier about british tv & film, and i frequently find it kinda cheesy. one of the reasons is actors’ enunciation, they often seem to have been trained for stage rather than screen.

so, the supporting cast in this are great. archie panjabi!!! in such a fun role!!! and shaznay lewis is there!!!! amazing!!!! parminder nagra’s enunciation isn’t so bad, but keira knightley drives me up the FUCKING wall in this (and a lot of her early films tbh), and i find her borderline unwatchable. NOBODY FUCKING TALKS LIKE THAT???! do they??? god i hope not

would rewatch this cos it’s fun, but i would NEED to have someone with me so i could get through the cringe speaking

if you like bend it like beckham though, i HARD rec bhaji on the beach (it’s an early film n a bit rough i guess, in more than one way, but it’s really engaging, and features ppl speaking like ppl) and bride and prejudice, which is just AMAZING

yea i liked this! great cast! I LOVE LAURIE METCALF SFM. yea it is a tad aimless i guess, but i like aimless ha. i really liked how the thread through it was the difficult relationship between mother and daughter, and their inability to communicate well with each other.

i really liked greta gerwig’s take on little women too, and i’m excited to see more films from her. [sidenote: i don’t think i’ve ever seen nights and weekends, is it good? should i?]

also, i feel fondly towards this film bc we call what you ppl call ‘ladybugs’ ladybirds so it seems like a reasonable title to me (except i think my tags for it are all a mess cos i randomly use 2 words or 1 so eh)

way more nuanced than how he’s remembered. i don’t think he had his nephews killed (and i don’t think it was margaret beaufort either—looking at you, TWP). i think he’s been cast as a villain from 500+ years of tudor propaganda (re: shakespeare lol) which is responsible for how we perceive him today, but i also don’t think he falls to the other extreme of being perfect. i think he’s a historical figure that needs to be evaluated in a more balanced way. but tbh, i’m more interested in his wife!
