there have been some gentle moments!! despite everything, there have been a few good moments this month :) including cat cuddles. i have gotten so much cat cuddles and boy did i need it.

the Horrors. man. i have now MOSTLY acquired my car! unfortunately there was a mix-up while at the bank which means i have to go back again tomorrow, and to the dealer as well, BUT the dealer was very VERY nice and he let me ""borrow"" the car i'm buying since he knew i was actively without a car right now. so the car is parked outside!! i get to drive it!! i have it now!! i just have to finish up with all the financing stuff :') and also with dealing with my sad little VW rip

the rest of the Horrors........ well. i've mostly only talked about my car here bc it's the only one that i can have any like actual control over and it's the only one where it's like "ok this is an issue and this is how it gets solved and all of these things are achievable" so i've been making myself put most of my focus on it since it IS the only issue this month that i CAN solve. the rest is stuff that. sigh. 2 of my family members died this month, one of which was my last living grandparent. and it sucks!! and my mom is currently halfway across the country having to deal with all of the paperwork and logistics of that more-or-less alone.

i know my job has bereavement leave, and i have been deeply considering figuring out how to use it so that i can go see my mom and give her some support. but i can't afford time without pay so i need to figure out if it's paid or not. OUGH.

but SOME good! like my new car being so fucking funny to me. it has push to start. it has android auto. it is so fancy. also it has roll-up windows. and little knobs for the side mirrors. i die. the contrast. her name is also Tails in honor of my favorite Sonic character. and she will be getting flower magnets.

Not so different

Mud and grit rubbed against his fur and skin uncomfortably in a way that made his skin crawl, the texture was unpleasant for him, though he was thankful he hadn't gotten too much of the mud in his wounds let alone his eyes. He felt his eyelid twitch in discomfort at the thought of it. A wet cloth didn't bring much comfort especially with the cold water it brought but it cleaned him off, slowly but surely.

Her aura flickered faintly in waves and rolls dancing and fading from his psychic sight, he didn't know the name of the color of her shape but it didn't look like the others, it felt fuzzy and softer making him feel a bit more safe and comfortable. The clean water splashed in its bucket as she dipped a new piece of fabric in, wringing it off and wiping away more of the mud he was coated in, the texture of grit on her own fingertips was unpleasant but she continues on, faintly they could hear others talking arguing about something that didn't concern them right now and he'd found he was getting a lot better at tuning out background noises even with his hearing being heightened.

Water droplets slid down his arm falling off of him into the sopping wet ground beneath, Muddy Water had certainly done its job. His head twitched and jerked as he felt a water droplet forming on his temple slowly sliding down to his eye sockets head twitching uncomfortably trying to shake it off, he wanted to paw at his face but his hands were still filthy and being cleaned off he could put grit in his sockets, the thought of a water droplet pooling in his eyes caused his twitching to increase.

He stilled feeling a hand move to his shoulder, water droplet still threateningly moving as his brow furrowed before a dry towel brushed past the side of his face slowly and gently up to his horn, and then it passed over his forehead collecting up the offending water droplet and any more moisture and then against the other side of his face to his horn on that side, his fur still felt moist but the thick droplets of water were gone and his anxiety began to lessen. It was a simple act but, used to having his discomforts being ignored it did bring a rush of relief.

He felt the wet cloth carefully return to cleaning off his arm of the persistent mud, cleaning the back of his hand and fingers. He swallowed quietly in thought, mouth opening and shutting again with barely a hum or croak.

".....tha….aank…" channeling his inner thoughts to be outer thoughts was harder than he had thought it would be, he could feel his temple already beginning to ache from the strain of projecting his speech, "yooouuu," it was something of a breathy exhale despite not being pushed through his lungs, he couldn't even recognise his own voice but it should have been enough. Judging by the stilling of her hand he must have heard her and it wasn't for naught.

Unfortunately he could not see the smile nor the mouthed "you're welcome," before she returned to cleaning off his hand cleaning grit from between his fingers gently. His mouth twitched awkwardly and he felt his eyebrows furrowing as he wondered why she wasn't responding to him, was he not really worth it?

As she cleaned his hand the frown on his face was noticed, as was the subtle attempt to pull his hand away from her wanting to pull away and just dunk the clean water over himself and hope that it got the dirt off and he could be alone. He felt her squeeze his digits gently and he stilled just a little as he frowned to himself before she moved his hand which was strange. He allowed it though. His damp digits made contact with skin. She was warm as she put his fingers carefully to her throat she could feel his knuckles under her chin, he wasn't sure what to make of it until he detected the texture difference.

Without her guide his finger tips traced up and down a small section of her throat feeling over the scarred tissue compared to the unscarred tissue, he stopped on the scar tissue slowly feeling across one way and then feeling across the other feeling the size of the scar. He pulled his hand away slowly and touched his fingertip to his own neck feeling the scarring there before moving to put his fingers back, attempting to find her scar again and with some guidance his fingers bumped against her scarred tissue once more.

She couldn't talk either, just like him except humans don't have telepathy. He tilted his head a bit as he stared forward without seeing as though looking at her, her hands took his and moved his touch away but he felt her softly pat the back of his hand and she squeezed his hand with hers once more and this time he didn't feel as though it was a weak attempt of crushing his hand bones. There was a quiet moment as she held his hand squeezing it softly with hers, the warmth seeming to travel up his arm through him before returning with a slosh of clean water and cloth to clean the mud from his person as it still uncomfortable caked his chest and other arm.

I feel like Sova's dislike of Cypher reveals something interesting about his character, though I haven't figured out what exactly the angle is.

Overall, Sova (and the other VP agents) keeps Omega agents distinct from his actual teammates.

When referring to Omega, he usually goes with "their [agent name]"; ie "Their Breach has no patience at all..." or "Their Jett is fast!..."

He seems to blur the line when it comes to three agents: Brimstone, Breach, and Cypher.

Out of these three, Breach is the least notable. Sova's only lapse in distinction only comes when he kills Omega Breach and calls him "Thug". Otherwise, his voice line regarding Omega Breach remains fairly analytical--he points out a weakness and warns his team to watch out.

With Brimstone, both Sova's interactions are somewhat sentimental: "Captain killed" and "Be at peace, my friend". I doubt Sova's actually friends with Omega Brimstone, so this feels more of a projection onto Omega Brimstone. This feels reasonable as it seems Sova is close with Brimstone.

With Cypher, it just feels like there's a lot of strong emotions there. Even compared to how Sova talks about other Omega agents, his voice lines regarding Omega Cypher are actually pretty harsh? Or petty? Only one of his lines is dedicated towards being tactical and helpful, the others just reflect Sova's personal feelings (being fed up with secrets etc). For Sova to project so heavily onto Cypher, it feels like there's more to the rivalry than simple annoyance.

The only interpretations I have is either:

The devs already stated that their work ethics clash, with Sova valuing honesty and transparency and Cypher being shifty as hell. It could be that Sova does place a fair amount of effort and value into forging mutual trust, and takes Cypher's continued lack of honesty very personally.

We know that Sova isn't always antagonistic towards Cypher, in his commend line. So it seems that Sova might be willing to extend good will to Cypher.

OR

Sova genuinely distrusts Cypher's goals/believes Cypher's objective ultimately does not align with the Protocol's. Considering he doesn't have as strong a reaction with working with Reyna or Breach, it seems strange that he'd be so adamant about staying suspicious of Cypher. This seems to imply that he, at the very least, trusts Reyna and Breach to work with VP to save Earth/not betray VP while dealing with the Omega threat--but he does not share the same assurance with Cypher. Does he know something about Cypher we don't to hold such strong sentiments?

I don't think he's the type to purposefully try and dig into someone's trauma--like dead family and such. I think he knows enough nuance to understand that's not something you share with anyone. I do think Sova is looking for something with more ramifications than that.

(Though, whether he knows he's looking for trauma or not is debatable. Perhaps he's thinking Cypher's hiding a deep dark secret about a past business deal or whatever and it turns out it's all just dead loved ones hiding in the closet. If that happens, I don't think Sova can make a friendship from that, much less recover a relationship as coworkers... invasion of privacy and for what? to re-traumatize a man and make him go through a second maybe third mid-life crisis?)

OR

(somewhat related to the above speculation) This might take a while to build up, so bear with me.

Sova is the 6th the join the Protocol; he's joined fairly early. Considering how it was only him and Cypher who did investigative work before Fade, it seems likely that he would have been involved in checking the backgrounds of new agents--or at least, would be privy to the (whole or partial) results of Cypher's investigation of them. In any case, he would know enough about their history and motives for joining VP.

Similarly, it seems he's familiar enough with Viper's background and motives--he knows she wants revenge and that she used to be a scientist; he knows her tragic backstory well enough to hold sympathy for her. Whether he knows the details or not is unimportant; he knows enough to form an opinion.

Omen doesn't know his past, so there's nothing to dig up.

Sova seems close to Brimstone, and it seems he actively asks Brimstone to share more of his past--and Brimstone willingly does so.

However, Cypher is the only one who he has nothing on (presumably, we don't actually know if Sova's hunt for secrets actually yielded anything).

It could be that Sova doesn't actually extend trust to someone until he knows enough about them. Which I find kind of surprising, seeing how open and optimistic people write him and how friendly his voice lines are to his allies; you would think that he'd be all accepting, but this might actually establish him as a person who is a lot more strict in his conduct. He doesn't give chances until his conditions of honesty and transparency are met.

(on a somewhat related but also off-topic note, considering how Sova's went through multiple rifts--not just one, but rifts plural like who does that.... even if all of them led to omega earth and not some dangerous other dimension, omega earth is supposedly devastated by climate crisis and is uninhabitable in some areas to the point that its people have to live in geo-domes--and how excited he sounds when he says "come, into the unknown", maybe he's just a really nosy person and he can't help himself trying to tear open the pile of secrets wrapped in a trench coat that is Cypher. Cypher's just like, a special interest pet project to him)

This essence follows the story of a little mushroom man who lives in a mushroom house in a magical forest. But one day, he comes across a hero lost in the forest... what's the worst that can happen?

There are 5 "SC" A tiers and 1 "SC" alternate S tier. The 5 "SC" A tiers would be skins that can only be unlocked upon completing the respective route that each A tier appears in. And 100 percenting all 5 different routes and acquiring secret events and paths result in the unlock of Yami's Alternate S tier "RED TEXT" [said secrets will not be easy to find and can only be triggered in certain routes]

The 5 "SC" skins each represent a "voice" that sticks with and guides "Mister Mushroom" through the course of the story, although these voices do not control his actions. They only influence his thoughts. Similar to each "voice", "Innocence" experiences small visual and personality changes in each route as well to concede with the "voice"

it's very much a "you decide the direction of this story" type of... story lol
