Zoro: I'll never let go of your hand
Sanji: If I had the chance, I would have kissed all your scars...
Zoro: I know you would have
Zoro: Can I be your legacy?
Sanji: You already are.

And to think the animated movie version of Nimona was almost this close to being shelved if Netflix had not picked it up.
Yes, it’s good. It’s very good. I’ll let other people talk about the plot points, the characters and the pretty nifty soundtrack. (Santogold? Yes, please.)
I am here to talk about the animation.
Watching this movie made me realize what I don’t like about Pixar movies lately. Yes, Pixar’s the king of realism. And, yes, Nimona is way more design simple compared to Pixar. But the one thing Nimona has over Pixar is how the characters move.
Pixar characters don’t really move. Yes, they walk. Yes, they gesture. Yes, they will do things.
But they don’t “act.”
For example, there are many parts of Nimona where you could turn off the sound and still follow the story like it was a silent movie of old. The characters’ body language and facial language tell a story on their own. They fill up a whole screen with their mannerisms. This is Buster Keaton. This is Charlie Chaplin. This is Harold Llyod.
You don’t really get that with Pixar. And while that was fine years ago because everyone was striving for realism and Pixar was showing everyone how to animate hair, now, it’s.....boring.
Realism isn’t the end goal anymore. It’s a one trick pony that really should be out to pasture. Now people want to see what else you can do with animation. Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse showed that there are a wide range of styles you can pull from. Even taking ideas from Impressionism, Modern pop art (Check out Jean-Michel Bisquiat) and commercial art (See Bollywood film posters for example). Nimona is now showing how much acting range you can get from their animation. I’ve already watched it twice. Once for the story. The other just to watch the characters “act.” I’ll probably watch it a few more times because that animation, THAT ANIMATION!
I want more of that. Take notes, Pixar.

Hey!
So I actually found your college!miguel fic on AO3 and I just wanted to sincerely thank you for making it! I'm indigenous latino and I've seen too many fics and drabbles reducing miguel to disgusting racial stereotypes for latino men and your fic was one of the few that made him an actual person instead of a fetish and actually treated our language with respect (you worked the spanish in really well!) ! So thank you :)) I'm excited if you do a pt 2 to it!

Meeting a loved one the whumpee had thought they had lost years ago... except they don't remember the whumpee or their past life. The loved one has moved on, finding another family of their own and is simply living in the moment. The sight brings whumpee to tears yet they smile through the pain. If their loved one is happy, so are they.

I see a lot of people arguing that barbie isnt anti-men (and true! It isnt) and i may just be overemotional today because i hard to drop my kitty off to he spayed but like why are we bothering?
I get its because of all the commentsyors and shit but like men dont bother arguing to us that movies arent anti women or whatever when the women are just there to br eye candy (in some movies) i think its easier to just ignore people if they dont have the smallest but of critical thinking to realize the barbie movie isnt anti anyone. Being empowering to women doesnt have to put anyone else down
Also weird barbie at the end of the movie is so lesbian :)))) (real)

A couple of thoughts I had on The Menu
TW: spoilers, suicide, pedophilia, csa
Tyler’s punishment wasn’t the humiliation it was not getting to die with everyone else. He went in knowing he would die and was okay with it because he would be part of Chefs final creation, his punishment was not getting to be part of that creation. I also don’t think chef outright told him to kill himself, I think he just told him that he wasn’t good enough or worthy enough to be part of the final course and that was enough for Tyler to do what he did.
I don’t think Dick ever touched Claire. He was definitely wildly inappropriate and disgusting towards her but I think him not touching Erin/Margot is indication he never touched Claire. He is however still a creepy predator who I was glad to see perish.
Bonus thought: wtf was that ending?! Why did the music get creepy again? Why was her face like that? Why do I want to see Benoit Blanc come and investigate what happened on the island?

If you had to choose between bring chrollo's or Johans darling, which one would you choose. 👀👀👀
HMMM A VERY INTERESTING QUESTION… you must be a telepath or something because i was just thinking about johan. and well, i’m always thinking about chrollo, but i’d say the label still applies.
realistically speaking, i’d have the best chances of getting away if i go with johan. should i return to the east coast of america there’s no way he’s following after me. it’d serve as the ultimate deterrent. the lack of a power system like nen would help too, he wouldn’t have a little book of terrors to rely on. i’d want to stick around and give him a good scolding though. my heart overflows with love for humanity and i’m ready to get into verbal fisticuffs with him. let me at him!!
however, if i wasn’t thinking with my brain, which is a common occurrence, i’d pick chrollo. i think he’d find me cute. in the same way you would watching someone pull on a push door for a few minutes. we’d have no shortage of topics to discuss… i’d finally get to flex my otherwise useless knowledge of the bible that’s been crammed in my head since i could walk. i need a follow up on the whole “judas wasn’t a traitor” thing, because that’s sounding suspiciously like a headcanon. i feel i’d earn lots of privileges with my court jester type personality. if i amuse him enough it’s be 5% less awful than hearing johan lecture me about nihilism.
