I want to hear everything about this arranged marriage AU!!
The first time I tried to figure out how Evie would interact with all the companions I thought: oh, if she and Wyll are both nobility from Baldur's Gate and almost the same age - wouldn't they have probably met before? Wouldn't they have spent some time at fancy balls trying to size each other up? Maybe even flirting before both being like, "Oof, actually no fucking way." And then since they're both nobility my mind immediately went to some abstract cloud that said "arranged marriage" on it and basically, I think they'd both kind of hate it at first.
Now a lot of this is vibes based. Like - a lot, a lot. Why do they have to get married? Um, I don't know - I imagine Duke Ravengard needs...something. Why did I write Orin pretending to be Wyll? So she would mess with Evie and make her think Wyll wanted to be intimate with her, a thing I needed someone to do. Why is Orin messing with them like this? Um...I have no idea, someone had to.
But! I wanted to write some of these scenes out so I wouldn't lose them and then I wrote sort of a lot of them.
Wyll and Evie would probably both take this arrangement sort of hard and getting them on friendly terms would be a tough putt. Evie is well known in their circle as a Mean Girl and Wyll, who had probably dreamt a lot about true love, is suddenly married to a woman he barely knows and who doesn't seem to really like him. The early days would be a lot of Wyll tentatively reaching out and getting cold, short answers. When Wyll tries to talk to Evie before the wedding she's like, "Phew, yeah, it's pretty wild. Anyway, see you at the ceremony, I got stuff to do."
We all agree Wyll is a stand up, kind hearted dude but I think there's potential for him to also kind of screw up the early days of their relationship. Not being horrible or mean to Evie, but perhaps saying some things he doesn't quite realize are unkind. And it makes sense that he wouldn't be perfect! His whole idea of love and romance is all out of whack now, he's upset. It's not even close to what he expected and the difference is disorienting.
And I think Evie could be pretty hurt by his reaction! She knows Wyll isn't happy either and how would you feel is your spouse saw your marriage as a break down of their entire world view and you as a villain? Evie also wants someone to love and care for her, not someone who feels like they've been trapped with her. Part of Evie's cold shoulder is her just being herself and part of it is trying to shut down all these big feelings she's struggling with.
I think they'd need a kind of blow up argument about it before they could acknowledge being a little careless with each other's feelings and deciding to see if they can be friends. And over time you open up all these tasty little tropes like forced proximity, sharing a bed, trembling touches of hands, falling in love after getting married, yada, yada, yada, lots of vibes and vapor waves here. Wyll becoming a warlock question mark, question mark?
[God bless Ed Greenwood for this tidbit about half elves passing a token of their affection from their mouth INTO their new spouse's mouth AT the ceremony. I got a few hundred words out of that one.]
Can I put a read more under a read more because I need space for the "Problems" section lmao.
Problem #1) I don't really know what fancy people in a fantasy world do all day. Like Wyll and Evie start to become friendly while doing....what? How many balls can they reasonably attend? Part of Evie's problem before adventuring is that she's so bored with her life and I don't want the audience to be bored reading about her being bored. But like, the "becoming friends" section is vital so you believe it when they become attracted to each other.
Problem #2) The other characters from the game wouldn't be there! Would I have to create a whole pantheon of characters for Wyll and Evie to hang out with so every scene isn't just them talking at each other? That doesn't sound fun. Could I include their families enough that it FEELS like there's a big world around them? I guess Astarion and Shadowheart live in Baldur's Gate but could they appear in a way that doesn't feel like an episode of Frasier where Ted Danson shows up? (Frasier hive rise up)
Problem #3) I was picturing Evie and Wyll at their in-game ages, mid 20s, instead of the age Wyll was banished which I believe is 17. I thought the marital relationship between two ~18 year olds would be way different than two ~25 year olds and bringing sex into it made it feel really weird for them to be so young. Does Wyll's character get altered too much if he's in Baldur's Gate for another few years? What does it mean that he's not the Blade of Frontiers yet?
Idk, man. This is all the reason that drafts exist in the first place and also why I don't know if I could actually complete this. But it's fun to try. Maybe I'll think of something shorter and more fun soon.

21, 23 and 30 for the fic asks.
'a universe' for 21, if you feel comfortable. If not, 'you can find it if you'. Or both lol
21. If you wrote a “missing scene” in [insert fic], what would it be?
oh man. well, for 'universe' it would be an actual planned ending lol, rather than just calling it done at a certain point because it was too tangled up with irl stuff going on at the time. it's actually too long ago for me to remember whether i had specific plans for the ending, but i know i wanted jev to have more closure over his past and to work more into him feeling freed from his past demons.
for you can find it if you, it would involve switching POV entirely but i would LOVE to have written about james going off to find the ropes to do an impromptu shibari demonstration and just having a moment of being like...what the fuck is going on. i'm so obsessed with those moments of clarity you get sometimes in life when your silly little gremlin brain is just taking you in a direction and you're helpless at the steering wheel like "oh fuck guess this is happening now" and then just for a moment your rational brain cuts in and goes WAIT WHAT and then you're off again. i definitely think james would have had one of those moments where he recognised that he was heading down a very particular path and there would have been a few fleeting seconds where he could have chosen to stop it all, come back in and tell andré he can't find the ropes or he's changed his mind or he feels sick or whatever. but he doesn't.
23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?
ooooh good question! so much as i bang on about how i'm not really into AUs, there are a couple i would really love to write one day but they require like, actual brainpower and stuff.
the biggest one is the crash AU, with toto playing the part of vaughan. i don't think i will ever write this because the idea of writing about professional racing drivers dying or being injured in car crashes makes me very, very nervous because i am too prone to magical thinking about that kind of thing. but fuck, it would be SO GOOD.
lando camboy AU. i might write this one at some point? again though, i feel slightly nervy about writing it when i don't have lived experience of sex work, but i think that one is probably just me overthinking things.
mmm i'm sure there's more but my brain has gone blank! ballet AU would be fun but i don't have the knowledge required to do it justice, sadly.
and then i would also really love to write a hardcore CNC kidnap kink scene, and find it actually quite mad that i haven't gotten around to it yet because it's such a cast-iron irl kink for me and it lends itself so well to the fantasy element of fic.
30. Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?
the toto/christian hideousness all the blood runs hot before it's cold was pretty far out of my comfort zone (which is why you had to nag me so much to actually finish it lmao) because it was the first time i'd leaned so heavily into the psychosexual side of things, writing characters who are heavily in denial and enjoy manipulating each other. previously although i'd written a lot of power dynamics, they were always consensual and either based in established and healthy relationships or poorly negotiated but ultimately fulfilling hookups. so writing this felt pretty unnerving and i struggled a lot at times with getting the tone right.
having said that, it's probably the fic i'm proudest of and i think my writing is at its strongest in that piece, so it was a valuable lesson to learn that actually i CAN write in this way!
i think also in the past i had felt an internal pressure to be a sort of positive mouthpiece for kink? like, power dynamics, kink and edgeplay have traditionally had SUCH a bad rap for being unhealthy, abusive, blah blah blah and so i always wanted my fics to demonstrate that actually that's not the case, and it can be incredibly healthy and loving. which is demonstrably and unequivocably true! but it was important for me to give myself permission to write about something that was not that, and to take my own advice that fiction doesn't have to ascribe to some sort of barometer of moral purity to be worthy.
thanks love, these were such interesting questions!

Hi Kip!!! I got bored!!
From the mcytblr ask game for writers:
Questions 5, 9, 11, and 12 for now.
I'll come back with more later!!!!
ooo interesting ones, ok lemme see
5- How do you translate the world of Minecraft to fit into your fanfics when you keep the original setting?
i haven't done this a lot, most of my fics are heavy au's where i kinda make things whatever i want, but my promptober and prompt meme oneshots were all like this! I like to kinda blend it if i can, and especially with fable, using 'comms' as chat and stuff. i just try and imagine how it would look in minecraft and then expand on the bits like expressions or small movements that aren't show in game.
9- How do you worldbuild?
This really depends for me. For the wf series, it started out just as 4 realms = 4 kingdoms, then going off of some canon stuff. More of it has started to be fleshed out as the story progresses or as i have reason to think about it. i've taken a lot of history courses (because its my major) so i also like to play with bits of that when it comes to developping the world, like how trade would work, or how borders fall or where cities are likely to be built. in wf you'll notice a lot of the borders follow a river or capitals sit on lakes, because that's realistic. i enjoy mixing fantasy with fact to kinda flesh everything out though, and it definitely does change as i go. in non fantasy settings (hauntings) its more based on irl, and i pull from my hometown and university city if i need inspo for stuff. i'm also hoping to pursue a masters in archival studies once i'm done my BA which helps with that one because i know a bit more about what they're doing which is neat
11- Are you more of a planner or an improviser?
I am such an improvisor. i don't work well with super solid outlines. sometimes i'll come up with like, plot ideas, or small scenes of chapter plots, and i'll write them down, but i can't like, write ahead of myself, because i know i'll end up changing about half of it. i had a fic i wrote a few years back where i had an idea for a scene, i wrote it out, then when i finally was able to fit the scene in, i needed to completely redo the setting because the idea worked but not the place. i'll pre write dialogue sometimes, but mostly i just kinda go for it with a loose idea of what i'm doing or aiming for
12- Funniest comment you've ever gotten in a piece of work?
ooo this one is tough. i will admit, i had a different account for an old fandom i used to write for (has since been deleted) but on one of those fics on the last chapter one of my irl friends commented saying it was lovely, but it was a shame it was the end of their "sticky note espionage". i used to keep some fic notes on my wall when i was planning, and they came over and tried to sneak a glimpse at the spoilers before i took them down and hid them lol. for this account though, probably "This chapter has- 'I've connected the dots.' 'You haven't connected shit' vibes" from Kalamari on ch15 of world falling, partially because its so true and partially because it was one of the earlier comments i got on that fic so it made me extra happy
i wrote way more than i meant to, uh, anyways thanks for the ask!

Fanfiction Writing Asks: 38, 46, and 61 (for Penumbra)
Thank you for the ask!
38. What is your most self-indulgent posted story?
I think all of my fics are each a little self indulgent in their owns ways! List of things I love to include in a fic as a little treat for myself is: - There Was Only One Bed trope - Dancing (especially ballroom) - Flower language and symbolism - Angst, Hurt/Comfort, More Angst
Really fic writing is me just indulging myself as I drag the blorbos through The Horrors™.
46. If you could only write one type of AU for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Oh wow that's a really hard one. I think my favourite kind of AUs are fairytale/fantasy AUs and I could easily come up with numerous fics based around that!
61. In [Penumbra], what’s your favorite scene that you wrote?
Another hard one lol oof there were nemerous scenes in Penumbra that I really loved in the end. This scene is one of the smaller ones, but ones of my favourites as it's really where Adrien's arc started to move forwards in a positive way.
For the first time since he’d woken up, Adrien felt the consuming black waters that flooded his mind calm a little. They were still there and ready to drown him with one misstep, but as he sat there on the couch with Marinette a short space away from him he felt the effects of her soothing presence. He liked how excitable she would get over how good the pizza was or the bizarre visuals of the film. He was Adrien and not Chat Noir currently, but her attitude towards him wasn’t all that different to how it would be otherwise. He felt guilty that she was probably trying so hard for his sake. But even with the lingering questions between them, she’d told him that she could wait again. She was there with him and she didn’t expect anything of him than to just be there also. Maybe just a little longer… he thought. He could keep Adrien’s existence just a little longer.

I’m so intrigued to know what inspired you to write a Fantasy story after Parasite? Pls don’t take offense but I really never expected you to write something like Eldia since your first release was a college au.
Eldia is a breath of fresh air for me, esp on a platform like Wattpad (where I see recycled modern fics of Jean)
You’ve been doing such a phenomenal job so far & a rare one might I add❕When I got a couple chapters into Eldia I began to feel a spectacle of feelings I haven’t had for a fanfic in A WHILE. I hope I can also experience the creative possession you get when writing your work. <3
omg wow thank u sm this made my day ☹️
honestly i just wanted to prove to myself i could do it because modern au is soooo easy to write and everyone was like praising me for something that wasn’t even that hard so i was like….
oh y’all wanna see me WRITE WRITE???????
& i felt like doing a tangled insp fic it’s just had to be fantasy you know like i need the magic i need the movie scene feeling and if i was gonna do a jean fic based believe i’m mixing some yummy flynn ryder into the book
fantasy is definitely a lot more challenging to write compared to modern au so when i get compliments on it, it means way more than parasite compliments (even tho those throw me over the moon too i love u all)
i guess i just put more effort into eldia in ways i didn’t in parasite bc i have to make an entire story from scratch (with inspo obvi) unlike in parasite when i just wrote based off my life

Blog Introduction
Hello! I’m trying to use Tumblr as more of a platform for my writing stuff, so I decided to make a blog for just that to be separate from my more fandom/meme/generally all over the place blog that is my main.
My name is Connor Fitzgerald (he/him). I’m in my mid/late 20s. My default genre is fantasy, but I’ve been known to branch out into plenty of other fiction genres as well. My true base is the comedy genre, which has evolved to mean that most of my writing involves some level of trope de-construction. (One of my favorite things I’ve written was a tragedy because it was written to “parody” a comedy that someone else had written. More on that later.)
A lot of my writing in influenced by D&D, which I play very regularly as both a player and DM. So I do steal from myself on occasion if a character or storyline plays really well at the table or if I think there’s more to them then the game allows us to dive into.
A lot of the short stories and such that I post here will probably feature some of my OCs in unconfirmed canon or AU settings. I’ll try to remember to keep them tagged and organized appropriately.
I’d love to connect with other writers and readers on here as critique partners, accountability partners, beta-readers, etc. Really just the whole writing community experience.
Writing Prompt Stories
I’ve challenged myself to write at least 1 short story per month based on a writing prompt that I will post here and link below. I’ll also be tagging them under #writing prompt. I’ve compiled these below as well for easy access.
Unconfirmed Canon for My OCs
-Shipwrecked Villainy (featuring Caleb)
-Finding Home (featuring Caleb & Shelby)
-Plus One (featuring Mallory & Alifras)
-The In-Laws From Hell (featuring Caleb)
-For Our Future (featuring Caleb & Shelby)
AUs for my OCs
-A Stranger’s Smile (featuring Abigail & Tessa)
-Retired in Peace (featuring Alifras, Amara, and Joy)
-A Minor Inconvenience (featuring Alifras, Lyla, and Joy)
-Heroic Oversight (featuring Joy, Amara, and Lyla)
-Android Affections (featuring Abigail & Tessa)
-Culling of the Clones (featuring Marcus)
-Survival of the Strongest (featuring Marcus)
-Fisticuffs (featuring Marcus)
-Tyrannical Redux (featuring Alifras)
Other Stuff
-Unfamiliar
-The Salesman
-Space Bards
-Invasive Maneuvers
-To Justify the Means
-Leveling Up
My WIPs
My current WIP is a high fantasy that is in the late phases of editing and which I am planning to grow into a 9 book series. The book is called “A Legally Mandated Adventure.” I don’t have a set name for the series as a whole yet. All the same, I think I’ll be talking about this one under the #the winning play series tag. Because the first book in the series is inspired by a one-act play I wrote in high school that ended up winning my school’s annual play competition. (I also named it the Winning Play shortly after I had started writing it because I was a cocky little shit. (But I was right, so I guess it was justified?)). If I post excerpts from my WIP, I’ll try to remember to compile them here:
-Dialogue Scene 1
-Excerpt 1
-Excerpt 2
-Excerpt 3
WIP Summary:
“A Legally Mandated Adventure” is about a young man, named Timmy, who learns that his grandfather’s will dictates that he must go on an adventure to prove himself worthy of his inheritance. His grandfather, who is still alive, will accompany him, as will his grandfather’s lawyer, to make sure the terms of an adventure are met. Along the way, they find friends, enemies, and (wouldn’t you know it) adventure.
Writing for a Visual Medium
If you’re at all interested in seeing where I first started writing, here is the sketch comedy group that I was essentially the head writer for in high school. Also on this channel are 3 short films that I wrote and directed in college. (Not everything on the channel is written by me, but much of it is. Send an ask if you have questions, I guess.)
A lot of my current strengths I think can be seen in the fact that the first several years of my writing journey was meant to be for a visual medium. If I can humblebrag here for a second, I think my dialogue and staging is pretty solid on the page. The things that I need to think about more actively in my process are descriptions since when it’s for video or stage, I don’t need to really describe past a reference point of what I need to look for from a setting/prop master perspective.
You can also definitely see the evolution of my writing style (specifically comedically) from the early more ridiculous stuff to trope parody bits to the short films which actually tell a full story while still getting into more subtle trope de-construction elements.
(If you’re wondering what my favorite thing on this channel is, it’s this 7 minute short film. It was a direct parody of a romantic comedy someone else had written for our school’s film festival the previous year. Like a reverse Airplane. I wrote the script in a single all-nighter and shot the first draft and it turned out EXACTLY the way I had imagined it, which isn’t easy when you need to shoot around class schedules and have no budget. Huge props to my friend who played the main character as well because he absolutely crushed that role.)

heya! :D
here from the get to know your fic writer post, i chose quite a few questions, so you can pick and choose from these if it's ever a lot hehe <33
1, 2, 4, 13, 17, 21, 28, 39, 45, 61, 62, 77
hope you have a good day/night! :>
Oh my God, thank you so much for this insane amount of questions. I love you for sending this!!
Okay, I will answer all of these, just because you asked.
If anyone else wants to send me questions, you can. Here they are.
Do you prefer to write one shots or multi-chaptered fics?
I think probably one shots. I like writing something I can finish and multi-chaptered fics take a lot of time and effort and I often end up abandoning them or losing interest in them over time. The exception seems to be the unnamed fantasy au I'm writing but I haven't posted any of that yet so we'll see.
2) Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?
I actually recently started to plan ahead. Probably not each chapter, except for with the fantasy au, but at least an idea of how the story needs to evolve. I still also write as I go because I cannot think of certain plot twists or certain scenes until I'm fully in the story. Also my stories tend to get out of hand and lead somewhere different than I intend at first. Miscommunications Lead to Places is a great example of this, that ending was supposed to be very, very different.
4) Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
Pretty much everywhere. Miscommunications came from a tiktok i saw. I wrote I Can See You, clearly based of the Taylor Swift song. The fantasy au was something that evolved through conversations with a friend. So, everywhere. I think music helps a lot, sometimes reading, and dreams. I have a lot of vivid dreams that help with scenes for my projects. And of course I do prompts so then the idea comes from other people.
13) What's a common writing tip that you almost always follow?
I don't really follow writing tips. I think the only one i usually follow is to just write. Even when you think you don't have inspiration, because writing something shitty is better than not writing at all. But mostly I just do whatever the hell I want to do.
17) What do you do when writing becomes difficult? (maybe a lack of inspiration or writers block)
Other than complain to anyone who will listen, I mostly try to find inspiration in the small things. Usually when I get stuck in my writing it's because I'm too close to it. So, I listen to music, I read a book, I go for a walk or go to the gym, just anything to not focus on the writing. One way or another something will end up happening that gives me inspiration. A certain song will come up on my playlist that throws be back into a new scene for the story or I'll see something on my walk that reminds me of one of the characters or I'll read a book and see a word that I didn't know and I look it up and it makes me think. So, yeah, a lot of things but I try to not do anything that is related to the story. Sometimes it's good to step back and get some perspective.
21) Would you ever collaborate with another writer for a story?
Oh hell yes! I think it would be super cool. Would I advice other writers to work with me? Hell no, I'm very stubborn especially when writing. But I do think it would be super cool and I even suggested as much to one of my friends but they refused. So if anyone is interested just let me know.
28) On average, how much writing do you get done in a day?
Right now, not a lot. I have been a bit lazy when it comes to writing. But if we take my average over a longer period I would say somewhere between 250 and 750 words. So, let's say 500 words. Although some days I'll write 2,000 and others I don't write at all.
39) Share a snippet from a WIP
Of course. I will share a snippet from the fantasy au, because we all know I'm obsessed with that one.
The sand turned into cobblestones under Nancy’s feet. She didn’t really like the feeling. The stones were cold and pressed into her skin in an uncomfortable way, as if her feet were meant to fold over them. Robin didn’t seem bothered by them nearly as much. She just kept walking and kept talking and Nancy followed. It was all she could do. Her eyes scanned the houses built in bright colors and odd shapes. The buildings nearly jumped out at her from both sides of the road, the higher levels covering the small sidewalk that Robin refused to walk on. Instead, they were walking in the middle of the road, where the buildings couldn’t hurt them, and Nancy was glad for it. Even if there were carriages and horses waiting behind them, who for some reason did not complain.
45) Do you want to break your readers' heart or make them laugh?
Honestly, at times both. I think a great writer can find a good balance between the two but I'm leaning more toward making them laugh. Something you might doubt when you see where the fantasy au is heading.
61) Why do you continue writing fics?
I've never thought of that. Should I stop? Just kidding, you're not getting rid of me that fast. I continue writing fics because I continue to be obsessed with ronance and somehow I can't stop them from possessing every idea I have. And also because it is great practice. I used to hide my stories with my life, this is a way for me to share them without too many repercussions. Oh and of course because of all the nice comments.
62) Thoughts on cliffhangers?
I love writing them but I am surely shit at them. Something I should practice in my next multi-chapter fic.
You might notice I did not answer question 77. That is because I didn't know if you were referring to a specific fanfic or not and because 99% of my favorite scenes are part of the fantasy au. I clearly have a favorite story and it's that one.

i just finish rereading "Isagi's Gemstone Mishap", and not sure if i should use ask on tumblr or comment on ao3 to rant about it but here i am (sorry for any grammayical errors):
isagi is pining hard, (and a bit possessive too, lol)
the whole journey of "retrieving a stone that can wreak havoc where i have to disguise, trick someone, break into a warehouse then break a spell, nearly break my neck from a fall and involve a friend using his young-master status to cover up my ass" is hilariously silly, my face hurts from smiling too much
i have questions, like, did rin drop the luggage out of the window bc he saw reo outside? or someone else? im kind amazed that isagi didnt argue and just went along with rin's plan
their dynamics were so well portrayed. it's consistent with what i think is in canon, most of fandom works quite frightened me a bit because they are very ... off-putting, i guess, but with yours, i feel somewhat safe (?)
i am interested in this au that i want to ask about your inspirations (?) for this fic, like how did you come up with this plot, and if there are other works that i should read in order to understand this world more
thank you so much
You can do whatever you feel more comfortable with, anon! Ao3's easier for archiving purposes, but if you prefer asking on tumblr then go ahead. I don't mind either way.
Yes, I wrote the whole thing with the idea of coming up with 'something fun that could happen while Isagi is crushing hard on Rin'. I'm happy you like it and find it silly!
When I was writing that scene, Rin and Isagi were preoccupied with getting out of the warehouse as quickly as they could without being spotted. The luggage was both bulky and heavy, so Rin took his chances with tossing it out of the window so Isagi could get up on the ledge, then they'd both run. Isagi had no idea that Rin was going to do that, so he was actually panicking when the noise got attention. Rin hadn't noticed Reo at all in the entire fic.
asjkl thanks, i'm glad you like the dynamic I put down here. I don't really read much fanfic these days, so I'm not too sure what you mean by my fic being safe? If you mean the content, do be aware that I explore heavy 18+ content on occasion, though I do tag it appropriately.
I based most of the world building of this AU off of generic fantasy novels and manga/manhwa. There's no 'one' work that I referenced explicitly, although I do indulge in Magic A is Magic A trope extensively, with some ideas about the limits of what the characters are able to do here.
I have only posted one other work for this series, which focuses on Karasu and Chigiri looking for a cure for a badly hurt Otoya, and it's also on ao3. That fic precedes this, and is both longer and a bit more serious, with some hints about other fics I've been writing for this AU. The 'part 3' of the series is a mistake from my side due to drafts and posting issues, so there's only two fics for this series currently.
Thanks again for reading!

Hi!! If isn't too much may I ask number 1,11,20,48,69 and 77 for the author ask? Thank you!=)
It is certainly NOT too much to ask! *rubs hands together* Let's do this.
Fanfic asks over here!
1.Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike? Oh I definitely daydream a LOT before I write like god. It's really only when I've been thinking about the idea nonstop for like a week straight that I think I should maybe start writing it soon lol. Even the occasional very rare couple that I get the need to write asap was still only done after half a day of daydreaming the plot and scenes sdkjfhkjdshf. (And for those that are rightfully thinking 'but Lisa, what about the stuff you wrote for past June's when you had to bang out as many ideas as possible?', even those ones I liked to think of an idea for at least a couple of days ahead of when it had to be posted so I could stew on it for a bit) 11. Do you write scenes in order, or do you jump around? Okay, now the correct answer to this is supposed to be the last one. It's the best way of writing hands down and helps you stick with the flow and helps to reduce writing blocks. But my actual answer is that I write everything in order lol. I literally cannot write a scene later in a fic without knowing what exactly the scene just before it was. I need to know what emotions are going into it. Obviously I daydream random scenes out of order in my head, but thats more so I can remember them for when the time comes that I can finally write it down. And yes, sometimes I do get an idea for a scene that would have been perfect earlier on so I inject it and edit the ones afterwards to match, but other than those times everything is written in order because I physically cannot make make myself do otherwise.
20. Do you prefer writing AUs or canon fics? I don't know if I have a preference honestly, I greatly enjoy both. Though I do suppose it depends on what fandom I'm writing for. Any of my Tales of Phantasia stuff I tend to keep canon because it's easiest for me (and being able to play in an actual fantasy world with magic and everything is just so fun), but most of my Until Dawn fics are more AU based now that I think about it. But I think that's mostly because writing canon ud fics means that it's gonna be very hard to write anything that doesn't rely on angst (for obvious reasons lol), so writing a fun fic about shmoopy pining and three nerds just being terrible dorks almost always means it's gonna have to be an AU unfortunately.
48. Who is your favorite character to write for? Has this changed since you’ve started writing for that fandom? Oooooh, this one's a tough one. Mostly because it's impossible for me to narrow it down furthur than Josh, Ashley, and Chris lol. Though I do find it a little harder to get in Josh's head then I do Chris and Ashley admittedly, which is why I have very few fics with him as the view point character. And as for if it's changed? Kind of, I guess? I always knew that Chris and Ashley were gonna be my main favs from the beginning, but for some reason I didn't realize how much fun it was going to be to write them AND Josh together until the first time I did it... which was the very second fic I wrote oops.
69. What are your favorite fics at the moment? ...And this question just got harder all of a sudden lmao. Unfortunately there's not much new going on in the Until Dawn fandom at this time, though as everyone here knows absolutely everything by @queenofbaws is always going to be top contender lol. Antagonish is probably my fav for newest things right now, if only because it's super clear that she is having the absolute time of her life finally being able to write about her favourite things: old men. (As for other fics, got back into the PJO fandom again just recently because of the casting news and I can never turn down some Vex/Percy ala critical role campaign one, but nothing that's jumped out and made me go 'oh my god this is AMAZING' :/)
77. Why do you enjoy writing fanfiction? I've always been aware that I'm not the most creative person out there, but thanks to ADHD I'm always daydreaming and lost in thought, so I gotta get all these ideas out somehow! And, even though I sometimes think that I can't do the ideas I have justice, I do think that the ideas themselves are good so I want to share them! The fact that other people may hopefully have as much fun reading it as I did writing is only a bonus baby!

How do you come up with fanfiction ideas?
Hi there :D I hope you don't mind, I put this under a cut because it got a bit long.
It honestly just depends. I assume you're talking more about multichapters than oneshots, but I'll quickly explain my oneshot process: I get some type of idea for dialogue or a scene, and then I literally come up with a scenario/fic to put the dialogue or scene in. I can't really tell you where all those ideas come from, because it's usually just a fantasy I have. A very good rule of thumb, especially with oneshots, is to write situations that you would want to be in with your character (or if you're writing for a ship, just think of what situations you wish the writers of the media had put the two characters in).
For multichapters, it's different for each fic. For example, I wrote my first multichapter She Shall Have because I noticed the very common trope of a reader being betrothed to Thor but in love with Loki. This is a huge thing within the Loki fandom. However, I never felt like the justification for the reader being engaged to Thor made sense. I began thinking of realistic reasons that Odin would arrange/allow a marriage between the reader and his oldest son, and I thought of the reader being able to wield Mjolnir. Obviously, Odin would feel threatened by this and want to keep the reader under control, so it would make sense for her to marry Thor and always be under Odin's supervision and the expectations for royalty.
Also with ssh, I was very fed up at the time by seeing Loki with all these very weak willed readers. Not only do I find it incredibly out of character for Loki to be in love with someone so meek and pliable, but I could never read the fics because I would just simply not act the way y/n does. And so when I thought of the idea of the reader being able to wield Mjolnir, I realized it was also a great opportunity to finally get an Asgardian reader out there who had a backbone and a character outside of her romance with Loki.
For my current multichapter, A Study In Suit, it's similar but also different. I got really inspired while watching a scene from a show. This nanny was putting kids to bed while the gardener was watching, and he was clearly in love with her and the way she was so good with kids. I was just so enamored by the way he looked at her that I knew I wanted to explore some type of similar situation with Loki. Obviously, that inspiration is much different from ssh.
Where it's similar is once again, I saw a trope that I really didn't like within the fandom. Professor! AUs are pretty common. And in every single one of them, it's hypersexualized and the main drive in the stories is a want to not get caught. Usually, it's a jealous girl who outs the two characters. Because I was looking for a way to make Loki a father in the fic and I was over background women being vilified in Loki fics particularly, a modern AU seemed like the answer for my wanting to make Loki a father. And honestly, professor! AUs are the only ones that I'm interested in.
I also realized that a university setting would be a great opportunity for me to, once again, write a reader who has an arc and interests outside of Loki. Being a student makes you inherently have goals and responsibilities. I also wanted to make a relatable reader, which can be difficult in an Asgard/superhero setting. A modern setting, and a school setting, is something most of us can relate to. I REALLY wanted to make realistic characters in asis, and modern settings make that a lot more simple.
Finally, with my fic The Archetype (which I think is my best work, btw) I wanted two things: a fic narrated by Loki, because I think they're sexy and also because I like Loki as a character way more than I like or care about Y/N, and second, I wanted to explore what Loki would be like if he survived his encounter with Thanos. With The Archetype, it was actually based off a oneshot that was written purely because I wanted a fic with angry sex from Loki's POV.
So basically, I get my ideas when I see a gap in the fandom that I want filled (such as my desire for more fics written in Loki's POV) or tropes that I personally dislike and want to counteract. This is actually why I started writing for Loki in the first place - I looked for fics after Ragnarok came out, and the grammar in all of them were atrocious. So I was like, "fuck it guess I have to write my own" (although if you read my old fics... the writing is good but jfc the grammar is not!).
The common thread between my inspo/ideas for both multichapters and oneshots is having a bare bones idea (like one line of dialogue or one aspect of a character that I want to expand on or take an in depth look at) and literally building a piece of writing that I can put that idea into. If my fic writing process was like drawing a person, I wouldn't start with the person itself. I'd start with maybe their shoes, and then I would draw the ground underneath the shoes. The I would draw the bench the shoes are next to, and then the tree over the bench, and then clouds behind the tree. I'd fill in all that background before I finally come back to the actual original thing I thought of.
Please please please send me another message letting me know if this helped! I curious to see what you think :')

5. none for fic writing but i have a journal (that i leave untouched for months) and i always always always write with red ink in it
6. i'll never improve
7. reading it and feeling like, damnnn, i wrote that? in the positive way (especially when it's a scene meant to convey an emotion i feel a lot)
9. i believe in ghosts against my will. i don't wanna but i've heard too many stories to not believe
13. i don't do well with stuff like historical aus, fantasy aus where i have to do some world building, i'm bad with details i think. emotionally charged scenes, especially ones made to mirror my own experiences, are easy. i think i commented a post once that all my writing is pretty much vent/comfort writing, and it still holds true
18. here's a passage from the enhypen hunger games au i've mentioned before (and mention again in Q19)
An indescribable feeling hit him. A longing for something he’d never had. Jungwon wished for an escape. He imagined the moon as a spaceship. It would land in front of him, offering a home in a place without time. He wanted to go there anytime he felt mixed up, until he felt strong enough to face his problems again. If he never did, so be it. He’d spend his days there, letting the guilt of abandoning everyone he knew eat him away. Could he forget? Jay once told him about a paradise where people slowly forgot their lives. Could Jungwon go there?
the entire story is based on feeling incredibly pressurised by everything around you (society, family, friends, the circumstances you fall into). jungwon's situation is meant to mirror how i feel when i'm pressured by school, my family's expectations, the workload of the indian education system, etc. this is the one passage i felt didn't need any change from the first draft to what it is right now, so yeah, it's barely changed since i wrote it about a year ago
19. i started in third grade. i was in the gifted program in arizona and we had lots of book reports and creative writing projects. i found that i was pretty good and enjoyed it! i don't remember feeling passionate about writing until i came on tumblr though. before that, i just did it sometimes for fun, usually constructing story outlines and writing a little, then leaving it to collect dust. i did win a creative writing contest in 5th grade though! i turned a trip to the museum into a mystery with a t-rex skeleton and an invisibility ray >:D then i started a hunger games au with a kpop group in uh, 8th grade i think. (i don't write for real people anymore but i've gotten attached to the characterisation and the versions of the people in my story + it conveys a message that's very important to me, so i still work on it from time to time) there have been times when i don't write for a long time (like rn) and with the workload i have, i don't always get the time, but i'm always willing to write or look for inspo if i have the time. there was a while in the middle when i felt like i absolutely had to write and i felt bad bc i wasn't, but it's all better now. i know to not pressurise myself about it right now, like i said, i'm very busy. with school, a social life and the media i consume in my downtime, there's very little time to write. i wrote a few paragraphs of a solomon x reader comfort fic, but i don't think i'll finish it until i feel comfortable enough to revisit those feelings. there's also the academic rivals to lovers one for satan, and i just don't have any inspo for it rn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i might write something for levi? just headcanons though
39. the thought that i'm not a failure if i take a break from writing or i don't feel like it for a (long) while; it's a hooby and meant to bring me joy, after all. i'm pretty glad i never planned on pursuing writing as a career bc i'd be very burnt out

Teen titan fanfiction: Magic and Hinduism, how Jewish characters fit into polytheist world and Fantasy Alien world based on places on earth
@the-lighthouse-lit asked:
Indian Hindu Raven character
Hello! So my thing is only a fanfic but it’s my baby and I want to make sure it’s well done. The fic is a Teen Titans High School AU and I wanted to make the character Raven, who was always coded as Hindu (especially in the 80’s), actually Indian and Hindu (specifically half-Indian, but raised entirely by her mom, who’s 2nd gen Tamil, Shaivite—this is because Raven’s dad is canonically the Devil so I’m just gonna make him white).
First off, the story’s magic realism, and though it’s a High School AU, Raven’s still magic. I’ve been wondering if it’s alright that, alongside her being a practicing Hindu and me showing her praying, meditating and celebrating holidays, she also practiced more mainstream Pagan occultism, specifically tarot and stone divination. I wrote it this way because it seems natural to me that, as an Indian American who’s into magic, she’d pick up things around her that seem interesting even if it’s outside her tradition, the way I did growing up (I’m a white Catholic Latina). To be clear: all magic works for her no matter the origin, if that changes anything. Plus, as a superhero story, this world is a Fantasy Kitchen Sink: there’s aliens and fairies and demons and time travel.
Second question: one time they have to face a spirit who’s possessing a person and stealing the souls of kids, trapping them in a middle plane invisible to the material world. Raven’s in charge of magic so she’s at the forefront of this mission. The solution (and I’m being vague here as this is a spoiler, but if you want details I’ll provide them) involves astral travel, and I do have a good reference of that in the Yoga Vasistha, but I’m stuck on the other part rest of it. Originally I wanted them (Raven and her mom) to follow a ritual out of the Atharva Veda to essentially exorcise the spirit; but now I’ve researched more about what it takes to correctly utilize the Vedas, I’m not sure if I can imbue her with the authority to do it: could she be considered allowed to chant the mantra at 18 years old? Could she have mastered Sanskrit and been taught a pandit for years to the point where she can? Or should I stay away from the Vedas altogether? (I’ve gotten the sense that the Garuda Purana, which also has chapters associated with exorcism, is more accessible, but it’s Vaishnava literature and I don’t know if they could they turn to it since they’re Shaivite?)
I’ve also found folk Hinduism rituals I could follow (for example the book on Google Books called Indian Witchcraft, it’s mostly pages 40 and 93-94 if you look it up) but unfortunately I can’t find a reference that fits what I need from the scene (mainly the fact that they don’t know where the villain is in body, and all the rituals I found need the possessed to be there), and I think taking a part of the ritual to the letter and making up the rest would be really disrespectful?
Whether or not I involve the Hindu texts, do I need to stay away from mantras? If so, can she instead pray for protection? Can I set the action in a Hindu temple (before a Hanuman statue)? Can I invoke the idea that in the temple she’s protected, that the gods nudged the outcome in her favor, that essentially they did the work and saved the day? Should I treat it as an exorcism? Can I have her treat the villain as a pishacha? Or should I leave Hinduism out of it entirely, and invent a magic-based solution with a battle in the astral plane?
I’m sorry if this is jumbled, but basically I have three scenarios in my head: a classic rite out of the Atharva Veda, a completely magic-based solution, and a middle ground (where she’d battle the villain astrally but with her body under the protection of the temple).
Jewish characters in Polytheist settings
Branching off from this: I didn’t realize this until I found the two asks you answered on Jewish characters on polytheist settings, but if I do have that Hindu gods saved the day in this mission, that would mean Hinduism was ‘proven’ in a way no other religions in my work are (the other main characters are Jewish, Jewish, Christian Orthodox and Baptist)? And also one of my Jewish characters (plus the Baptist) are reluctant to solve the situation magically (not so much skeptic of the ghostly situation itself, more like they think they should investigate through material clues), while my other Jewish character is all in on the magic solution. Is there a way to mend this? Since I don’t think I can lower the divinity of Hindu gods as mods suggested for that other post as that would instead be problematic towards Hinduism? (For reference, the way it ends is the group splits up, and both groups end up having a hand in solving the mission.)
Fictional Alien Country, combining other country elements
Last question, about Starfire. Since she’s an alien in canon I wanted to make ‘Tamaran’ its own fictional country, like a Genovia or a Wakanda situation. Is it okay if I make up a country in a setting that has otherwise all real places? And it takes elements from different countries? It would be located somewhere between Russia, Ukraine and Georgia, formerly part of the Russian empire and now its own country, and mostly Orthodox Christian. The country would have Slavic naming conventions but their own language (as in I take some of the Tamaranean words from the TV show). (This country’s backstory never actually comes up, only I know about it. What comes up is her Slavicized name, her celebrating Christmas on January 7th, and speaking Tamaranean.) If there’s problems I’m thinking I’ll downplay everything and make ‘Tamaran’ a federal subject of Russia. Just for reference, I want to keep her redheaded and golden-brown-skinned, so she’s mixed in my story (ethnically Russian and Black).
Thanks a lot for everything you do!
Disclaimer: I (Abhaya) was brought up with the traditions of both my fairly devout Oriya Brahmin family and fairly devout Bhagnari family, as well as the religious teachings of the Chinmaya Mission and Shirdi Sai Baba. My answers come from my own experience and knowledge, as well as specific research I did on these concepts. There will be a variety of answers that come with this question, and answers will vary from person to person. This ask has been reformatted such that the questions can be answered individually.
The first thing you need to do is think about why you chose these individual aspects. Understand what is a reflection of your bias and experience, and deconstruct the reasoning behind your choices. Find what sticks out to you in your research and think about why you find it intriguing. Try not to cherry-pick the things that stick out to you if you’re going for realism and not coding.
On to the questions:
1. Can Raven do tarot and stone divination as a practicing Hindu? Justification: as a magic user who can perform all types of magic she would ‘naturally pick up on this’.
Answer: I guess? I know Hindu teenagers who got into tarot and astrology, though most of them were not particularly devout. I might emphasize that her usage of these methods is a way for her to perform magic in a specific manner. Reference this post [South Asian fortune teller] to find and avoid some of the common pitfalls of the ‘magical South Asian’ character. Naturally getting into something really is a matter of exposure and whether a person is in regular contact with this, or has the impetus to get into it. Talk about how she got into it and not just that it is part of her life.
2.  Can Raven use a ritual from the Atharva Veda as an 18-year-old, or is that unrealistic for her age and background?
Answer: The mastery of these religious rites is dependent on her upbringing; was she brought up to know and understand the meaning of them? I’ve been learning about Hinduism since I was three, and that still mostly encompasses my family’s traditions and beliefs. I am not fluent in Sanskrit despite having exposure to Hinduism and prayer since I was very young. I personally don’t have much experience with Atharvaveda due to a combination of family history, continued stigma, and limited access to accurate and detailed translations that do justice to the original Sanskrit, as again, I am not fluent.
If you truly want her to go through with this ritual, I would emphasize her learning how to do it under the direction of a guru. Most Hindus don’t directly read the Vedas these days; there is a wealth of oral tradition and philosophy that comes through the community as opposed to the books themselves. The ability to read Sanskrit is dwindling these days because many are unable to access the tools to learn and apply the language.
Please do not just have her think of it as something she can just pick up and do randomly. Indicate the amount of contextual background that goes into reading and understanding the Vedas in their original form. For example, the Atharvaveda has a basis in some of the poetry of the Rigveda--she would have had to at least know the contextual references before delving in.
3. Can I use some folk rituals from Hindu communities?
Answer: Having referenced the book Indian Witchcraft, I wouldn’t use those rituals because I don’t think it would come across very well, and as you said, there are requisites that the scene doesn’t have. Given that Raven can use a variety of magic styles, I suggest using something else.
4.Should she stay away from mantras and simply pray for protection?
Answer: We do, in fact, use mantras to pray for protection and blessings from the gods. Mantras essentially give a standard prayer–some can be devoted to protection, some to blessings for luck, some to blessings in love, etc. You could use mantras in this context if you know what you’re looking for and do some research into a specific prayer.
Plus, mantras aren’t the only form of prayer, even limited to just what is spoken. There are bhajans, kirtans, aartis, and many more devotional songs that incorporate instrumentation, dance, and audience participation. There are many ways to learn, ranging from learning through oral tradition in temple or with family, to learning in a guru-shishya relationship through music, dance, or philosophy, to reading and analyzing the texts, to individual composition involving the known elements of mythology and nomenclature, and many mixtures as well.
In terms of the mantras themselves, I personally would go with a short invocation, e.g. the Gayatri Mantra, then a prayer to Ganesh, then have her go into the Hanuman Chalisa, assuming you have time for her to do so. The flow of the story may work better if you show her praying and describe her actions, then denote the mantras she used later, in your author’s notes. Think of how her prayer works in context to the scenario, and then decide.
5. Should she treat it as an exorcism?
Answer: If she is expelling the spirit from the person, it is an exorcism and can be referred to as such. If you feel that the term has too strong a connection to Christian and Jewish tradition, you may prefer expulsion, cleansing, etc.
6. Can Raven treat the villain as a pishacha?
Answer:
Is the demon characterized as a pishacha?
Do you understand the mythos behind the term and how they are typically described?
Do you make this clear in your writing and denote the villain as a pishacha?
If your answer is yes to these questions, then the demon is a pishacha, as described, and can be treated as such. Use clear description and demonstrate where the influence is coming from in your writing. If not, I wouldn’t use it because it would be more of a confusion than an addition to your worldbuilding.
7. Can the ritual a) be set in a Hanuman temple, and b) have the outcome influenced by the gods?
Answer:
a) Potentially; consider if Raven has a particular connection to the temple through childhood, etc., collateral damage to the temple itself, and how you want to treat the scene. An active temple is going to have ongoing puja during the day--what will the civilians and pandits do in that situation? The main mandir will usually also have other murtis established around the central focus--what are you planning for these? Will the temple be damaged or destroyed in the course of the conflict? Temples are designed to be safe places of worship and connection with the divine--I’d say it’s fine to assume it as a place of protection and spiritual power for Raven.
b) Having the gods ‘do the work’ can get really iffy. I would have Raven pray and recognize within herself the righteousness of her action. Either way, if she does a rite or astrally projects, show that the power comes from her and any invocation she personally does. In the Mahabharata, Krishna sides with the Pandavas, but does not act as a combatant, even though he had acted against previous villains such as Kamsa and Shishupala. He speaks the words of the Bhagavad Gita on the battlefield to Arjuna as Arjuna faces the crisis of fighting against members of his own family. This demonstrates the blessing of the divine on the Pandavas, but shows that it was the five brothers and their allies that achieved righteous victory in Kurukshetra, even though Krishna was present as Arjuna’s charioteer.
As such, I would have Raven parallel this by seeking the blessings of Hanuman, but achieving victory over evil through her own means.
8. Should Hinduism be left out of it entirely, and a magic-based solution with a battle in the astral plane be used instead? Or some kind of middle ground?
Answer: This is dependent on what you want to include in your writing. If you want the mentioned aspects of Hinduism to be accurate, you’ll need research, an understanding of your personal bias, and respect for the material you’re conveying. If you want a different solution with a battle in the astral plane, that’s up to you.
9. In reference to our previous posts, should she not use this as it ‘proves’ Hinduism to a team of multiple religions including Jewish and Baptist characters?
Answer: I’m assuming you’re referring to this post and this post. In my opinion, it depends on how you write it. If you don’t actually have the gods present, but show Raven acting according to Hindu principles as she battles the villain, I think you can get around it. I believe it is possible for religions to coexist in their current states, but one cannot be provably above another. Thus, they cannot have a more significant presence. That’s why I would emphasize Raven succeeding on her own merit, with blessings behind her, as opposed to having specific divine interference.
In short, I think it’s possible to use this, but it’s not going to be to everyone’s taste, and you will have to deal with that in the course of your writing.
Here is some commentary from the Jewish team (including one gentile mod) about the problems with Jewish representation in a canonically, demonstrably polytheistic world:
Jewish characters in a universe with author-created fictional pantheons (two combined asks)
Short version, it either comes out unfair to the group being represented or unfair to us, and it’s okay to leave us out if this is the direction you’re going.
-Shira
Can Tamaran be made a Slavic country somewhere between Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia, that is mostly Orthodox Christian, and has its own, Slavic inspired language?
Short answer: yes, it’s okay. As per your example about Wakanda, that is exactly what Marvel does. There are real places, such as New York, and fictional countries that co-exist alongside real places. We have several posts regarding cultural mixing and influences and respectfully navigating that, so do a search for those worldbuilding tips.
~Mod Colette
Longer answer: You can do this, but remember that any part of the world is going to have a history that you’ll want to delve into if you try to insert a separate sovereign nation into an already existing country. Establishing a fictional nation, even when you have the bones of it laid out, takes work. Take Genovia: the history is well outlined despite taking place in a world where all other countries operate by their regular conventions. The information wasn’t all apparent in one book–establishing a full aspect of the setting like that takes time within the narrative and outside of it, from a writing perspective.
As for the language/dialect, look here for Mod Rina’s guide to the barebones of conlanging and consider the extent to which you plan on using it.
Alternatively, you said that this High School AU will be a Fantasy Kitchen Sink. You could potentially leave Tamaran as it is, and have Starfire still retain her original background. It’s up to you.
Final note:
This is fanfiction. You get to decide how much realism it does or doesn’t have. If your goal is representation and realism, you’ll have to do the work to make it accurate and respectful.

Fic recs for taehyung? I love your stuff btw I’ve read them all uwu
Tumblr media
As a beacon of extra-ness in an already extra world, I am entirely incapable of just recommending fics like a normal blog. No. I’ve got to wax on like a bloomin connoisseur. I have compiled some (but not all) of my favorite works in several different categories and sorted them accordingly. This crazy list is so long I had to add a “keep reading”... but I simply couldn’t bear to leave any of these off the list. They are all so good!
Fics have been divided into 8 categories. Some are under the cut.
 ▨ FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS and FRIENDS TO LOVERS ▨  ▨ ARRANGED MARRIAGE ▨ ▨ FANTASY ▨ ▨ ANGST WITH A HAPPY ENDING ▨ ▨ HYBRID and ABO (alpha/omega) ▨ ▨ MULTIPLE PARTNERS ▨ ▨ NEIGHBORS AND ROOMMATES ▨ ▨ TABOO THEMES and DARK FIC (Sex Work/Power Imbalance/Very Unsafe Sex) ▨ ▨
▨ FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS and FRIENDS TO LOVERS ▨
Insomnia by @hobiwonder
This is one of those fics I read and literally could not stop thinking about. It is wildly hot and honestly hilarious. Poor reader cannot sleep and the beautiful bro she’s tutoring offers a rather unconventional solution.
(Ego) Hoe Chronicles: KTH by @suga-kookiemonster
Listen. If you find a niche fan blog devoted entirely to Ego Tae... I’m not gonna say it’s mine. But it’s probably mine. I once told suga-kookiemonster that I would literally read a story about Ego Tae going grocery shopping on a Wednesday night and I stand by that. In this lurid romp, the reader falls into the clutches of everyone’s favorite bohemian sex lord and he rails her into another dimension.
Falling, Falling, Gone by @johobi
Pining (mutual or otherwise) is not really my thing, but I would straight up read Jo’s laundry list if she posted it. As usual I was blown away by how everything she does seems somehow better than any other version of it. This reader is really unique as well, and her relationship with the wildly popular soccer star Tae comes to a sexy and hilarious head at a sort of bachelor auction. With sharp dialogue, delightful subtext, and fantastic side characters, you really shouldn’t miss it. It’s pretty much perfect.
A Friendly Favor by @baeseoul
This is the classic “teach me some sex for another woman” trope and it is done so well. Sweet best friend Tae is looking to benefit from your experience, but his is not the only world about to be thouroughly rocked.
Officer Kim and the Criminal Crush by @ddaengyoonmin
This is one of the best twists on childhood friends to lovers I have ever seen. Tae grows up to become a cop and reader grows up to be a societal menace. I won’t spoil it, but it’s the perfect blend of nostalgia, tenderness, and smut. This fic technically doesn’t have a name so I had to give it one to link it. It’s part of an AMAZING series Zoe did that I also highly recommend.
Out of the Blue by @jimlingss
This is one of those stories that blooms throughout the narrative until you are left with this gorgeous flower at the end. I loved the journey of these two characters. It was real and it perfectly captures the experience of finding your soulmate in the person you least expect.
Sin Pijama by @brilliantlybasicb
This fic is a switch culture fic. It is wild wicked hot and this Tae is unreal. I love the way he lets the reader think she is in control just long enough. It is a wild romp with an adorable sequel and honestly you should read it.
Girls Like You by @jjiminah
I was in jjiminah’s asks IMMEDIATELY about this fic because I had FEELINGS. The reader begins wordlessly teasing and tempting Tae on their morning bus ride every day until he is literally losing his mind. Everything that follows is fire. Jjiminah has hinted she will wrote more for these two and I NEED IT.
Sighs and Sonnets by @btsaudge
This fic is beautiful. Like it’s basically art. This is a bad boy who is bad for you. But he has the soul of a poet and the stroke game of a renaissance master. Bittersweet and seductive, this fic is a full experience.
The Text by @taetaesbaebaepsae
Tae is your friend with benefits but it looks like feeling may have been caught by one or more parties. When you attempt to soothe your aching heart with another pretty boy, Tae decides to stake his claim. This was very sexy. The whole fic was sexy.
▨ ARRANGED MARRIAGE ▨
Monster by @neonlights92
Monster and all of its companion series about each of the boys is one of those fics that I reread constantly and also just think about constantly. This is one of the best mafia AUs out there and it’s characters are vivid and unforgettable. Tae’s stubborn resistance to his lovely new wife in contrast with her quiet, clever strength really brings this story to life. A word of warning. The masterlist links are a bit messed up. To read part two you must click on part three. And to read part three must click on part four. The link to part four is at the bottom of part three (or you can just search it on her site. It is definitely all there though).
Dichotomy by @kpopfanfictrash
There is a reason the incomparable Shanna is on this list three times. She is truly incomparable. This is childhood friends-to enemies-to spouses and it is wonderful. I adore this Tae. He is sharp and vulnerable and occasionally heavy handed, but truly a gem. This fic also features one of the best angry sex scenes I’ve ever run my eyeballs across.
▨ FANTASY ▨
Chism by @kpopfanfictrash
The world-building in this story is genuinely awe inspiring. You could write series upon series within this vivid universe. The god of Winter is missing and Summer’s heat burns unchecked for many years. The reader is a warrior with a unique ability tasked with guarding a very interesting prisoner. This story is so good. I mean it is really bloomin incredible. It’s hard to say what I liked best about it, because it was stellar across the board.
Obsidian by @kpopfanfictrash
In the pantheon of delicious Tae incarnations, Obsidian Taehyung is essentially unrivaled as a grey witch who moonlights as a sexy rock star. His extremely erotic clash with a white witch detective plays out as the two of them track down a sinister killer (with the help of some truly memorable side characters).
Out of this World by @ddaengyoonmin
This one is really unique. Tae is a merman scientist on the water planet of Neptune and when the reader and her misguided crew crash into his sea, he takes it upon himself to improve inter-species relations. This fic features excellent world building alongside several twists and surprises. Clever scientist Tae is downright irresistible.
▨ ANGST WITH A HAPPY ENDING ▨
Picking Flowers by @jamaisjoons
So this story is a journey - truly a beautiful one and it’s a gorgeous addition to the hanahaki genre. There is real pain and I cried real tears, but gosh it was so sexy and so worth it. I was surprised by how truly immersed I ended up in this piece. I lost track of everything else. The end is insanely satisfying, but the journey is really what makes this fic unmissable.
Until Yesterday by @jimlingss
This fic destroyed me slowly then slowly put me together again piece by piece. When I say I went through it - I WENT THROUGH IT. The story is loosely based on the movie “The Vow” and it is just fantastic. Beautiful and tender till the last word.
The Foolish Muse by @bibbykins
This is the story of someone who is deeply in love, but knows they deserve better. It is a sexy and evocative work with allusions to mythology that fit seamlessly into the narrative. I think my favorite part is Tae discovering how much the reader meant to him and what choices ultimately lead them to a really delicious conclusion.
Back to You by @ladyartemesia
The last time I did a fic rec list, it got like 700 notes. Ya girl is not makin the same mistake again. I spent hours on this list. My work is comin along for the ride. Kim Taehyung is the love of your life, until one day he disappears without a trace.
Vacancy by @ppersonna
This one is the only idol AU on the list and I normally don’t read those, but Lindy’s work is too good to miss in any setting. I am thrilled I took a look because what I found was a glimpse into a beautiful relationship that weathers and eventually overcomes the challenges of loving in the limelight. There is a LOT of emotional depth and symbolism which really elevates everything about this lovely story. The reader’s internal struggles in the face of her lover’s fame are extremely well done.
▨ HYBRID and ABO ▨ (alpha/omega)
Eye of the Tiger by @opaljm
I am beyond hype about this story which is (very) loosely inspired by Zootopia and features a cocky tiger Taehyung and a fiesty prey hybrid he needs to fake date in order to keep panther Jimin from murdering him. (Tiger Tae got a tad too frisky around Jimin’s mate and now things are dangerously awkward.) This story is already so freakin good. I cannot wait for the rest.
Silver and Blue by @taetaewonderland
What happens when you get on the wrong side of the right werewolf? Very sexy - very crazy times. Chronologically this is the first of the Silver and Blue series which follows barely civilized were-Tae through his courtship and eventually his relationship with the spunky reader. Holla to all my impreg kink homies. This is the fic for you.
Heat Run by @ladyartemesia
As I said before, the last time I did a fic rec list, it got like 700 notes. Ya girl is not makin the same mistake twice. I spent hours on this list. My work is comin along for the ride. Alpha lawyer V is a man of many secrets, but his well ordered reality spirals wildly out of control when he crosses paths with a fiery omega set on saving the world from his wicked ways.
Beautiful Stranger by @interludemoonchild
This was a wild ride from start to finish. Taehyung is a tiger hybrid shifter who escapes from the circus to be close to a veterinary student he bonded with. There is a lot of interesting twists and surprises in this one. I was definitely screaming at the end.
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell by @jingabitch
A very young wolf hybrid Taehyung adopts you as his pet human when you are just a kid. After Tae leaves to serve in the military he returns to an adult version of his sweet little princess and chaos ensues. Mind the tags for this one folks. It’s excellent, but there are very triggering themes throughout.
▨ MULTIPLE PARTNERS ▨
Level of Restraint by @lemonjoonah
This is not strictly a Tae fic in that he is only one of three major players in this twisted masterpiece. Lemon is the undisputed queen of the surprise twist and this one is truly brilliant. People dropped this fic in the discord calling it the best fan fiction they had ever read and I am not here to argue with them at all. Fair warning, every word - every inch of this fic is sexy and it’s delicious brand of titillation is wrapped around your psyche good and tight by the end.
Four by @luxekook
The quadruplets next door are fueling your very lurid fantasies. It turns out they have some fantasies of their own... You will need water if you read this fic. This is the original patented Kim Taehyung Horny Hive Mind 4D Experience™
▨ NEIGHBORS AND ROOMMATES ▨
The Heat Wave Series by @curly-bangtan
The original story (chapter 1) in this series is definitely famous, but I don’t know how many people have read all 9 chapters and if you haven’t, you are really missing the incredible journey of two very horny idiots stumbling recklessly towards real and amazing love. Everything is set off when the air conditioner breaks and a pair of wild roommates shed their inhibitions along with their clothes.
Flicker by @chimoona
So this fic started out with adorable neighbor dynamics and ended with erotic rope tying. Baby I was ABOUT IT. This was so bloomin hot and also like sweet and tender. Really a sexy and sentimental treasure.
Not Your Typical Flower Shop Story by @jungtaeyoongles
This story goes from “aww” to “WHAT THE-” real quick. Fast paced plot and twist after twist turn the whole flower shop au upside down and then inside out. I can’t say more because spoilers but like - WOW.
▨ TABOO THEMES and DARK FIC ▨ (Sex Work/Power Imbalance/Very Unsafe Sex)
Extracurricular by @ppersonna
One of my favorite professor-student AUs. The reader writes her gorgeous professor a borderline erotic analysis of several major works of art and he feels compelled to discuss it with her privately. Lindy really outdid herself on this one. It is scorchin. Professor Tae is actually really sweet and somehow that just makes the whole thing hotter.
Akrasia by @nitaescence
This is insanely hot. Emphasis on the insane because it’s basically a super erotic romp where you have sex with a man you don’t know (Taehyung) on a crowded public bus. I literally felt my blood pressure going up the longer I read. Whew.
The Client by @jungkookiebus
This one hit me right in the feels. Taehyung is a sweet and lonely man who has a standing Wednesday appointment with an upscale sex worker. As the story progresses, feelings become involved on both sides. When I say I am checking her page thrice daily for part three... This is so engrossing. And this Tae. I just want to hold him.
Daffodil Dreams by @sombreboy
Tread carefully ladies and gents. This story is excellent, but it is easily the darkest fic on the list and, if you choose to read it, please read the trigger warnings carefully. The reader is a psychologist called in to analyze a very dangerous criminal. As their sessions progress, however, several boundaries are crossed.
Obey by @jjkfire
Taehyung is the most feared and ruthless member of the local mafia and you are the world’s most inept escort. You needed a job, but had no real interest in sex work and you’ve managed to fly under the radar as a glorified waitress until Kim Taehyung himself walks into your agency and decides that you’re the only girl he wants. Oh my gosh I loved this story so much. It was downright amazing and there is a surprise at the end that makes everything even sweeter.

I could post regular Narnia headcanons...
Or I could post the continuation of this post and go into depth about how Eustace and Caspian are affected by deity Narnia. Welcome back to Inhuman Narnia 101 and it turned out just as long as the first one so buckle up.
Check out this post by @dorianviolet for another awesome version of Inhuman AU Caspian
Warnings for slight body horror mentions including blood magic stuff, slight religious themes and theological discussion towards the end.
Before anything: This AU directly contradicts canon a lot. I don't care, that's why it's called an AU. Some of it is deliberate, some of it is accidental. I haven't read the books in a number of years, so this is all based on the movies and general information I've picked up from fanfic and tumblr. Discussion on this post is welcomed, criticism and arguments are not. Thank you.
First off, here is the link to an exploration of Dragoning, the Eustace-centric fic I wrote about this. I refer to it repeatedly in this post so if you want the full thing, there it is.
Second, let's get into this. So in my last post, I talked a lot about Narnia, her general existence in this AU, and her motivations as a character. She wants the people in her world to be a part of her, and no one else. Some of this is a conscious choice, and some of it isn't. Eustace's changes throughout his time in VOTDT are definitely not purposeful. It was his greed that drove him to the treasure, it was his own "curse" in becoming a dragon. That was not Narnia reaching out to him and purposefully trying to mold him to her world. As such, he takes on more of an observing role.
Eustace doesn't ever actually directly address his cousins on the subject of their inhumanity, in this fic or in any other I write. He simply sees it, notes it happening, and moves on. Even in the sections in my fics where the subject of inhumanity in general is brought up between Eustace and one of his cousins, it's always about Caspian, the greater Narnian world, or himself.
"Eustace asks why, and Lucy answers. Narnia changes people, she says. It happens to everyone, but the closer you are to her Heart, the greater it is. I don't know where Dragons are. Perhaps closer than we realized. It's exhilarating, isn't it? Aslan will return us to normal though, at the end of our journey." - AEOD
I don't know why, but I don't like the idea of Eustace trying to directly address the Pevensie brand of inhumanity. That line above takes place after his UnDragoning, after the way he sees things has changed, and I see it as him asking what exactly has changed, you know, why are Dragons different than boys?
That brings me to how Eustace himself changes. Now, if he hadn't gone and turned into a Dragon, I imagine Narnia wouldn't have taken much note of him. He's a random human, stuck-up, not at all in line for ruling her lands, and just kind of exists without much else going on. She still would have affected him a little, as she does to all humans in her world but it would have been almost entirely spiritual with no physical changes. And then we got the greatest fuck around and find out scene ever. He becomes a Dragon.
I love dragons, always have, I have a very deep spiritual connection to these creatures, and as such, I have gone all out on worldbuilding for Narnian Dragons. Again, the quote from AEOD, "...the closer you are to her Heart, the greater it is. I don't know where Dragons are. Perhaps closer than we realized." In the Inhuman AU, Dragons were the first creatures Narnia (the deity) and Aslan made when they created Narnia (the world). They just really liked the dragon shape from other worlds and thought, "Hey wouldn't it be cool if our world was populated by these big fire-breathing lizards?" Now I don't actually remember how often Dragons are mentioned and/or featured in the books so I'm going with my idea that Dragons are a somewhat rare but not extinct species. They have to be created through magical means, often through physical transformation of people or objects, though there are a few known cases of natural-born Narnian Dragons. Eustace's creation was the curse on the treasure, though I don't see his Dragoning as a curse itself. As in, the curse isn't in the being a Dragon, it's in how the Dragon was created. So, Eustace experiences this accidental change into a creature that's closer to Narnia's Heart than pretty much any other being in Narnia. They were her first creations, forged from the fire in the Stars, and they are the closest to her magic. And that gets her attention.
Now, if you went and read AEOD, you'll have noticed that one of Eustace's biggest changes (aside from the obvious physical ones) is his vision. This is just a natural thing for Dragons, they are far more in tune with magic and the earth and everything than everyone else, but Narnia's special interest in him definitely amplifies the hell out of his magic sense.
"The people here say dragons see the oddest of things, and he has to assume it's a hallucination....He refuses to give into its whims, reminds himself it's just his imagination. Until Reepicheep comments on it." - AEOD. Following this quote, Reepicheep mentions to Lucy that her inhumanity is returning faster than Edmund's and Eustace has a total panic attack at the idea that what he's seeing is real. He sees what everyone else does, Lucy's stained fingers and Edmund's ability to manipulate words, but he also notices stuff no one else does like the stars in Edmund's throat and the echoes that follow Lucy's words. This is further cemented after his UnDragoning, where the extra stuff he perceived has vanished. Now the general idea in this AU is that the closer to Narnia's Heart you are, the more you know and perceive. Everyone can see some of the more obvious inhuman aspects of the Pevensies, but there are things that only Dragons, druids, Stars, and some other magic folk really close to Narnia's Heart see. I'm not going to get into an exact chart of what certain characters can and cannot see because that can change over time and such and I'd rather leave it mostly up to personal interpretation on what other characters do and do not perceive about the Pevensies and other such inhuman characters.
(Side note—I had to pause in the writing of this post here to go to my second meeting for an autism assessment and I think if I just showed the doctor my notes app and the inhuman/dark fantasy narnia tag on my blog, I'd get the diagnosis instantly lol) So anyways, Narnia senses Eustace becoming a Dragon and is like "Ooohoo what's this?" and starts sort of digging into him in the same way she does to her Kings and Queens. This triggers his already enhanced perception of Narnia (the world) to get even stronger, and this is when he starts seeing stuff like people's souls, Caspian's second heart (more on that soon), and looking at Lucy/Edmund/Lilliandil becomes almost painful because Narnia's magic is so bright in them. Aslan then UnDragons him, which Narnia really doesn't like btw, and Eustace is back to being a fairly average human.
This is where stuff established in AEOD ends.
Now I have so many ideas and half finished fanfics written out in my notes app about Eustace, UnDragoning, and inhumanity and it would be impossible to cover them all here, so I'm just going to go with the highlights. One of my favorite ones is the idea that after Eustace's UnDragoning, he still feels very connected to being a dragon. He's had this taste of pure inhumanity, and something like that doesn't just leave a person. There's a fic I read once long before I was fully invested in this fandom about Eustace and draconity that I will never stop thinking about and was actually the reason I started considering Eustace and Narnian Dragons in this AU. One of the really important things to note is that once a Dragon is created, they can never be uncreated. They can be UnDragoned, where their physical form is returned to whatever it was before their Dragoning (a rock, a talisman, a faun, etc) but their soul has changed on a fundamental level to that of a Dragon. Now for Eustace in my Inhuman AU, this manifests spiritually as a deep longing to return to being a Dragon. Physically, he experiences fun side effects like increased heat tolerance, nails that grow faster than normal, and because Narnia likes to meddle, a single ridge of scales along his spine. In some versions of my drafts, he stays at the end of VOTDT and experiences a slow Dragoning because Narnia's influence on him is that strong, other versions he stays but never quite returns to the Dragon he was before, and in yet other versions, he returns to England and loses that connection enough that physically, he will never be a Dragon again. As I said, Narnia is fascinated by him, she's never really had a human Dragon before, but he is still just a random guy who happens to be related to the Pevensies and as such, she doesn't invest as much time or magic into his inhumanity.
So that's Eustace. This is already such a long post but I promised to talk about both him and Caspian so here we go.
Now, in my last post I talked a bit about how Narnia (the deity) affects the other humans in Narnia (the world) to an extent, but it's nowhere near the amount she does to her Kings and Queens, and also this diminishes more and more the farther you get from Narnia (the country). Telmar is fairly close to Narnia (the country) but as we see in PC, a lot of Narnia's magic and spirit has been diminished by the time Caspian is born. Up until the awakening of the land during the battle, Caspian is essentially 100% human. However, this changes very quickly.
It's hard to pinpoint the exact moment Caspian becomes a King of Narnia. Is it when he refuses to kill Miraz? Is it when Aslan tells him he's one? Is it during his actual coronation? Yes, yes, and yes. I try not to pin it down to an exact moment. By the end of PC though, he's definitely noticing some changes in himself. I have an unpublished part 2 to an exploration of Inhumanity (my only other actually posted fic on this stuff) that I swear I will clean up and get posted soon that goes into further detail on the changes he's noticing at the end of AEOI. Some of the big ones include a second golden heart, seeing some of the life magic in the world around him, and a golden glow on his palms. He also slowly develops the ability to heal, though it's not always consistent. Magic takes practice, lots and lots of practice. In pt 2, the glow on his palms has gotten so bright and also spread around his head like a halo, and Lucy shows him how to conceal it so he's not impossible to look at, but because of Magic™ there's still a dusting of golden powdery stuff across his skin. His blood turns golden because Ben Barnes + golden blood is such pretty imagery, and like the others, it gets sucked down and absorbed into Narnia's Heart when he bleeds in battle. Also when I say he's got a second heart I mean he's got a second fucking heart. Ribcage shift and all. (His appearance doesn't actually change, it's more like a pocket dimension thing going on inside him, but he sure as hell can feel it happening). Having Narnia as a patron goddess just means you have to put up with a second puberty sometimes lol.
Anyways, there's a line in AEOI that I feel explains this stuff really well. "He cannot truly protect the land without becoming a part of it himself." Narnia changes her Kings and Queens because she wants them to be a part of her. Aslan doesn't really see these changes as necessary (in canon, a world without deity Narnia, they don't happen), and if the storyline we pick is the one that's the constant cycle of humanity and inhumanity, it's sort of a push and pull between them. Aslan wants the Pevensies, and by proxy anyone else who rules Narnia or experiences these changes, to keep their humanity, to stay as they were Created by him. Narnia, however, wants them to be as much a part of her as she is of them. It's very clear in both the books and the movies that Narnia (the world) is where these characters belong. In the end, they all come home to her (yes, Susan too because fuck Mr. Clive Staples Lewis). Caspian being anything less than fully inhuman is something she cannot handle. She is constantly having to recreate the Pevensies, reestablish her hold on them, only to have them return to England and become mostly human again. Caspian cannot be taken away from her, he is in this world by birth and she is going to do everything she can to shape him into the ruler he needs to be.
Once again, I would like to state that Aslan and Narnia are not opposing sides of good and evil. Gods cannot be defined by human standards, and to think either Narnia or Aslan completely in the right or wrong in this AU would be, well, an interesting standpoint, but really not the one I'm going for here. I'm not going to say it's a misinterpretation, I am very open to hearing people's thoughts on this AU, and everyone's going to see things differently. Just, please reread what I've written about them before you start making that argument.
Anyways, that wraps this post up because I have spent the better part of the past 6 hours writing this. I spent way more time on Eustace than I intended but it's just so fascinating to think about inhumanity from his perspective considering he's the only one in canon that actually was (briefly) inhuman. Again, if you got this far, congratulations! If you use any of my ideas mentioned here, please tag me, I am so starved for inhuman Narnia content lol.

@nyungies has tagged me to do this Q&A so let’s get started. 😁
1: How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 5 works. 4 finished and 1 on going right now.
2: What is your total AO3 word count?
Let me get a calculator here, hang on...HOLY SHIT! 110,399. I did not think I wrote that much over all. 😅
3: How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
I’ve written for 6 different ones.
Frozen, Rise of the Guardians, Hey Arnold!, Tangled, Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus and Luca.
4: What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Well I only have 5 fics so I guess in order of kudos it’d be...
Luca: The 1970’s
Beaned: A “What If” Story
Frozen Frost
Bite of Desperation
Burning Blaze
5: Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I don’t respond to all of them but I do respond to comments with questions (if you have questions about my fics feel free to ask me by “ask me a question” on my profile. I don’t get asked many questions) or if I have something to say in response. The ones I don’t respond to I still appreciate and read. Getting comments really makes me happy so even if I don’t respond to it I love that you took the time to write one.
6: What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Burning Blaze but it’s ends in a cliffhanger for a part 3 to happen so it probably won’t end angsty overall. I won’t say for sure for spoiler sake. But I won’t get back to it for a while.
7: Do you write crossovers?
Yes I do. Frozen Frost and Burning Blaze are crossover fics. They are also parts 1 and 2 of an on going series. Part 3 will come in time.
8: Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes, some people don’t like the ending to my Hey Arnold! fic, Beaned: A “What If” Story. I have my reasons for ending it the way I did. I say why in my ending notes for the last chapter. So the people that hate it, either they didn’t read why in the ending notes or they don’t care about my reasoning. But what are ya gonna do? 😕
The majority of fans like the fic and that’s what matters to me.
9: Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No. Honestly I’m too afraid to write lemon fics. The furthest I’ll go is lime fics, which is what my Bite of Desperation fic is. I just don’t know if I’d be any good at it and I’m a bit too embarrassed try. Also some personal friends know about my account on there and I don’t know how I’d feel if they saw that I wrote something like that. 😳
10: Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. Hopefully not. If you see any of my fics on WattPad it isn’t me, it’s stolen. If I ever do make an account there I will announce it here.
11: Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Technically no but my Luca fic is based off of @numjumo’s 70’s Luca AU art, so in a way, yes. Her art inspired me to write the AU and we sometimes throw around ideas to put in the fic in our DMs.
12: What’s your all time favourite ship?
That is a really unfair question! I have a lot of ships I love but at the top of my head it would be the ship Luberto. I haven’t been this crazy about a ship since Jelsa.
13: What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Frozen and Rise of the Guardians. The fic is Frozen Frost. I wrote it back in 2014. Same with its sequel.
14: What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Definitely Luca: The 1970’s. I am having so much fun writing it and all the love and support I’m getting from @numjumo and fans of the fic just warms my heart. 🥲
@numjumo allowing me to use her drawings in my fic and her even drawing scenes from the fic itself makes me so happy and every comment I get on the fic means the world to me and I get so excited when I get a notification of a new comment and I’m just like
Tumblr media
I truly am lucky. 💖
