I think what makes Super Paper Mario stand out from many of the other plot-based Mario games is the motivation of the villains. (And no, I have not played all of them, but I'm familiar enough with the major titles to take a leap with this idea here).

You can write a laundry list of bad guys who have wanted to take over the world: Smithy and his gang want to reforge it (literally) in their image. The Shadow Queen wants to rule over a dark, new reality. Cackletta wants the Beanstar to fulfill her crazed wishes of destruction and power. Antasma wants command through the Dream World. Princess Shroob wants, and maybe even needs, to a degree, to siphon off the life force of the Toads in an interesting twist on an alien species' resource issues. In fact, one of the few antagonists we encounter who is not 100% fueled by power-lust is King Boo, who walks a tighrope between a pedestrian desire to rule reality via ghost army and a need to exact revenge, a tightrope he eventually falls off of decidedly in the direction of bloodthirsty vengeance directed specifically at Luigi. (He built, bought, or at least took over a whole-ass, multi-level hotel for this express purpose, not only luring Luigi into this trap, but roping his brother, his friend, and some random Toad acquaintances into the whole ordeal, as well - which is categorically insane and the topic of another rant for another day).

But Count Bleck doesn't want power for power's sake. He merely wants to use the Chaos Heart to end reality. There's no throne he covets, no crown he searches for - he desires only utter annihilation of everything, including himself. It's such a nihilistic goal and is so striking in comparison to the other enemies we encounter in and around the Mushroom Kingdom. Even Dimentio, whose initial plan was to seize power and reshape the world in his own corrupted image - even Dimentio chooses this final destruction over the promise of false power in the end.

How do you fight against someone who seeks death as their ultimate goal? It's such a depressing and fascinating concept in a Mario game, of all things, and is one of the reasons I personally see SPM as a kind of climax to the events of many of the preceding games, including SM: RPG and Thousand Year Door, which you can see as the "prequels," as it were, to SPM, if you look at these games as existing along a timeline that began with the creation of the Pixls and the Tribe of Ancients and ends with Bleck and Dimentio's defeat at the threshold of apocalypse.

Anyway, I'm starting to come up with some lore ideas that would possibly tie these three games together in a slight AU where the Bleck gang would show up in 7 Stars and Geno's role is extended past the restoration of the Star Road.

My Madellaine redesign if she had a classic doll!

It's just her civilian outfit with added lace and floral details. I used the disney store tinkerbelle and Hasbro Dalia as the base. The bell is a reference to La Fidele from the sequel. The hem of her skirt is shorter for the time period, for walking the tighrope.

I just really REALLY love my redesign. I'm so proud of how far she's come. She feels like a real character!

The both of you tried to hold on, you really did. Yet the universe kept declining,

maybe signaling to the two of you that you simply weren't meant for each other.

Or rather you were two people at the right place yet the wrong time? Yes, Jiseok's busy

schedule always gets in the way but it wasn't really such a big problem at first. Until it started to go

downhill for your relationship.

He's busy and you understand that, hiding your relationship from his company is one thing

but something that weighs it down even more is your failed attempts at making plans with him.

Your relationship started as a dream, giggling together as he sneaks you inside the company

building. Sending messages while he was at work with the risk that the staff could catch him

exchanging 'I love you's' in text.

But that excitement faded away over time, 8 months into the relationship, he never answered

your calls, only ever texts you after atleast a week, he doesn't want you texting him during work

hours anymore, and many more had changed.

That was when you found out he was supposedly planned to have a screen relationship with

another idol at the company. Ofcourse, you see them sometimes together in photos during award shows,

leading their fans to create rumors about them.

While you can only watch as your fragile heart only hopes this relationship

stays on screen and he won't take it to heart. He'll always come home to you won't he?

Wrong. After just two months after the announcement of their screen relationship, his members

was quick to reach out to you. They sent messages telling you that your Jiseok was basically

holding on to another girl.

The photos had hurt you even more, to the point that you felt that the only thing connecting the

two of you was a thin tightrope you were too scared to cross because you're afraid you'd fall midway and

lose him entirely.

It was supposed to be a screen relationship but why are they still acting like that

even off-screen? Was he ashamed to have a non-showbiz girlfriend that wasn't like

the pin perfect idol girls?

Back then when you had talks of what if the company were to find out about your relationship

then you would fight for it, you would fight for it because you love him. But does he still feel the same

love as you do?

You had dreams together that once his dating ban was over, he'd be more than proud to introduce you

as his lover. But how is he supposed to do that when he seems more proud of his now screen lover than his

lover in reality?

You patiently watched, watched as the videos and pictures had stabbed your heart like daggers and it felt

like he was the one holding those daggers. You waited, waiting for atleast one message, once knock st your door to

reassure you that he's still the same Jiseok that you love.

But what if he'd completely changed already for this new girl? What if he talks to her about future

plans aswell? Except that they're with her, not you.

What about those late nights where life just felt pverwhelming and you'd comfort each other? Does he do that

with his 'screen' lover aswell? Does he also sing her songs while playing his guitar? Does he sing her

to sleep too? Does he take pictures of her 'just because'?

You felt replaced, but it was more worse because you felt like you never had a place in

the first place. No one knew about your relationship except for his members and a few of your

friends. They were your only audience, while with this new screen lover, the whole world was

their audience.

They were at the crest of the mountain while you were barely making it up, you couldn't reach him.

It's been weeks since your last interaction and you felt like your entire world has crumbled down into sand.

You had dreams together, but maybe while the two of you made those dreams, he also made

dreams of his own?

Did you have different maps and took different paths in this fight that you had to end

up with different destinations in the end? His destination being a great paradise, while yours being

the opposite?

Has he given up so easily?

Hmmmm Psu been wondering ever since I decided to kinda follow in your ideas of doing stuff kinda nsfw-ish. How do you managed to like walk that tighrope? Like your spicy art is spicy but it never really feels like it cross the line to like full on hmmm hard time to come with the words cuz I mean like there are sexual themes and your drawings are sexy as all hell but it never feels completely crass I think its the right word... I dunno... One of my faves is your lastest one of Ivy and Bat girl.

It's pretty complicated! I don't have any one right answer that fits for everyone. But I will also admit privately, that I have art that I do for fun that definitely crosses a line though I reserve sharing that only with a few folks or some friends. Mostly it's just... in general when in a big open public space I wanna treat people nicely? Does that make sense? My guidepost has been to treat the internet and galleries like they're public spaces and the nice thing to do is to give fair warning or save more hard nsfw stuff to be put behind a few walls. Not necessarily pay walls, just harder hoops to get through.

I generally keep in mind whether or not if I'm hurting anyone's feelings, even accidentally. And I selectively self censor, or put things where they're harder to reach. It's just my own way.

And well... sometimes being more clever or finding ways to tease people without being overtly sexual can lead to more interesting pictures! I think there are PLENTY of people who can draw intense sexual things, but like... it can also be fun to find ways to be more playful. Coy. Or just cute while being sexy too.

Anyway, that's just me rambling. There's no hard rules to any of it, I guess you just sorta... "know" what's too far for you and knowing how to get back to the point where you're playful and teasing can still lead to great drawings.

The advancement system can't reasonably transport huge quantities of explosives across a fucking tighrope at the edge of the map, but the dragonfly probably has private jets or something. You have to kill him to stop the apocalypse. Also he's immortal and has already been blown up and eaten by a sentient computer virus and been ripped in half and every time he's come back have fun stopping him

Rank your light party from "most able to do the moonfire jumping puzzle" to "least able and probably a danger to themselves if they try"

Most able: Eidric, hands down. As a dragoon, he's practically built for it. He doesn't even really need to do the puzzle, he can technically just jump from the ground straight to the top, but he does the puzzle anyway just to be a good sport.

almost as good as Eidric is Vey. He spent over a century leaping around the gigantic trees of the Golmore jungle and feels just at home leaping about high places as Eidric does.

after Vey is Althaea. She was spent six years performing as an Aerialist in a traveling circus- tighrope walking, trapeze, silks, ladder acts. You name it, she was climbing, flipping, and leaping off it.

in last place, but still easily able to do it, is M'firhi. As an assassin, part of his job had included a lot of climbing, running, and jumping. And especially in the early days of his training, dodging bullets and bombs was a regular part of his day making him especially well equipped for the newest part of the course.

Azem would find the course to be far too easy and spend a lot of time massing around to make it harder and harder.

Jovian would never be able to complete this course. He's never climbed anything higher than a hill and heights make him ill, so he wouldn't even bother to attempt it.

Sigun might be able to do it, with enough time and encouragement, but she would absolutely spend a lot of time falling into the water or on her ass.

Gobi would make quick work of the course; as a half-feral child wandering the Steppe alone, much of his amusement came from seeing how high he could climb up the mountains surrounding the grasslands.

The biography of Philippe Petit, a tighrope walker who crossed the space between the Twin towers. We get the usual Zemeckis classicism and a simplistic caricature of Paris despite the efforts of Joseph Gordon Levitt to speak French. But the subject is fascinating et some scenes are breathtaking. (watch it in 3D!)
