Danny Fenton was such a weak ass protagonist,he was all quips and 'boys will be boys' with the occasional drama llama that happened like twice a season for 8 minutes meanwhile:
Percy Jackson was an autistic kid who felt worthless at 12 already and became suicidal at 16 but was also a bully beater and took direct action against the gods and did activism in the greco-roman myths world by helping out the less privileged sectors of it and is STILL an anarchist in current canon like in the 1st book
Zak Saturday was a black softboy on a show about cryptids and his love interest was a muslim girl that was potrayed as just minor puppy love instead of cosmic soulmates
Kim Possible was a perfect prep but also a girls girl instead of a pick me and a legit superhero even with all the silliness in her plots
Juniper Lee was a brownskin half chinese girl who was as cool and dorky as white male protagonists with her usual character beats do instead of a stereotype
Virgil Hawkins was deadass the FIRST EVER BLACK SUPERHERO CARTOON PROTAGONIST and such a sweet gentle boy but still had major attitude and they didn't soften up african-american experiences at all
Alex from Totally Spies was the baby of her same age team instead of the mom and wasn't masculanized at all and had just as much depth as the other girls
Ichigo Kurosaki was a goth punk traumatized teenage boy of color who actually acted like one instead of just an edgy douchebag and was obsessed with Orihime for being a pastel autistic kindhearted weirdgirl and treated her like the princess she is 24/7 and said fuck the Soul Society's cop ass over and over again and STUCK BY IT
Aang was a tibetan who's show adressed the cleansing the irl ones go through in it's TITLE ALONE and he was potrayed as a ray of hope for his optimism and gender noncormity instead of ridiculed for them and wasn't a fence sitter like wack ass westernizers in the fandom think he is because literally the only reason he didn't Ozai is that homeboy was not only a buddhist but THE LAST SURVIVING IN-UNIVERSE ONE
And you expect to me to care about Danny's boring deadass.Hell Jake Long is just him but not white and with real character development and lore and that's why i'll never fw Danny, boys of color and girls and especially girls of color and actual outcasts did what he did but infinity times better and i don't celebrate his mediocrity because they gave me standards.Danny Phantom was never a good show,he was just 14 and you haven't shut the fuck up since
Boy, sure is a lotta cobweb around here huh. Anyways, might try parallel posting with IG, we'll see how it goes. For my return, here's Ophelia from my sketchbook! And yes, I'm keeping all of the ancient art posts up, I think the vast difference compared to my newer works is neat.
editing a longer recap of the final episode of Juniper Lee, "Every Witch Way But Loose" and how is this episode fitting so many moments and plot points in I'm never finishing this 😭
[C] 'Juniper Lee' Style: Team NIFTOT (OCs) by Mast3r-Rainb0w
A commission I made for a client via DeviantArt featuring four original characters (OCs) drawn in the art style of "The Life and Times of Juniper Lee". I modeled these guys after characters from the actual show! Enjoy!
Day 29–>jake convincing his girlfriend that going to the dark side is worth it, they have cookies ya dig. @augustwritingchallenge for #AU_gust_2023 my contribution for day 29!
Fanart of a scene from an episode of The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, "Oh Brother, What Art Thou?" but instead of becoming a giant lizard, Ray Ray's hands and feet grow out of control
Said this in an argument with a DP rider so imma make it it's own post:Danny Phantom has only stayed relevant for so long because Danny is a generic white boy who can be read as binary transmasc and all the women and poc in the show aren't written beyond stereotypes. That's the whole appeal to the fandom and if it really were because of the potential the show had, then one of the million other shows that came out at/around the same time would get the same attention but nope,it's Danny this,Danny that,Danny son of whoever and king of whatever the fuck.Who CARESSSSSS HE'S SO MID
Okay but with the resurrection of older shows on streaming platforms, can we talk about The Life and Times of Juniper Lee?
I can say with 100% certainty that, although I remember watching shows like American Dragon a lot (which had a similar setup: secret magic world, family lineage in stopping magic that’s run amok, preteen with too much responsibility, gremlin dog) I watched WAY more Juniper.
I remember my sis joked with me about my tv habits cause I could tell you the plot of an episode after recognizing it by the squirrel that runs across the screen in its first two seconds.
I loved her whole design as a kid (especially the freckles. As a kid and even now love me some freckles on animated characters. It’s a labor of love.). I liked watching her pound the hell out of magic creatures. Her power didn’t change her form like Jake’s did (as far as I remember), just gave her mad strength. No finesse, just fist-nesse.
And honestly? Being a sheltered kid, seeing the scene where June is literally unable to leave her home city once she was “chosen” as the next Te Xuan Ze and is kept inside a physical barrier for no reason other than she was born into the life she got felt relatable at the time. Like everybody hypes up how the world is vast and diverse and exciting, but as a kid it can have such heavy limits.
Trying to find a Juniper Lee interview and remembered that the tv.com website is actually offline now. so I am met with this when just googling the usual way:
i can't believe this show is rated higher on imdb vs commonsensemedia????? tho i guess it makes sense since commonsensemedia seems to be a site which actually reviews their reviews.....
Having never meet much JunexTaylor fans (to the point I didn't know there was a ship name), what got you into the pairing?
WELL i prefer juniper and marcus but juniper and taylor had the right recipe to become a really great ship if they’d gotten more episodes/more focus
im always a sucker for a romance between the hero and Child Of Evil Person cuz theyre fun and dramatic and entertaining. if taylor had been introduced back in s1 there couldve been a fun ongoing love triangle with marcus/juniper/taylor or even just two separate storylines with romantic tension
