I'm not going to lie, TBBaby is so far the first book from PB that I feel such loathing for that I can't read a chapter (I've read 2 and will probably watch screenshots of the rest) - even TNA didn't turn me off like that. I think it's because the MC (and the writers) focus so hard on idealizing LI (In my game is man) just by his appearance - not what a rotten person he is. It seems to me that Daphne's behavior (over-controlling, for example) is due to this very reason. You won't tell me that someone who professes affection and kisses a girl he met on the same day with such ease (while in a relationship) hasn't done it before. In marital problems, the fault usually lies on 2 sides, and you can clearly guess that the "crystal" LI also has a lot on his conscience. But no one will ever say that in this kind of stories. What do you think?
‼️‼️‼️ I wholeheartedly agree with you anon. I think I said something vaguely along those lines in one of my posts about it. Like I’m sorry, but I refuse to believe that Cole or Sam or any other copy and pasted LI they use in these types of books is perfect and their wife/fiancée/etc. is just this awful dragon of a woman who they can’t escape. That’s not how logic works. And it’s not good storytelling. The characters lives didn’t start only when the book did. And our MCs can’t determine all the dynamics of their relationships after 2 interactions.
No wonder Daphne called screaming in the first chapter. And no wonder her mother gave Cole the third degree when we got to the mansion. I hate how PB tries to portray these women as crazy and overbearing, even more so because they use our MCs to do it. What those interactions actually show is that the LI most likely has a pattern of behavior that is causing them to react in those ways. As you said, no one in a relationship would behave the way Cole did upon first meeting MC and in that guitar playing scene if they haven’t already done it before. I don’t care how great the attraction is. And the fact that Cole steamrolled Daphne in the decision to make MC their surrogate has so many gross implications. To me it looks like he just wanted to get MC in their house no matter what.
Also, you can’t tell me that he’s trapped in this marriage with Daphne or that he even had to marry her to begin with. Cole is a young, attractive billionaire. I highly doubt it was a struggle to find a desirable woman who wanted to have kids before marrying Daphne, even if there was no Bytech and no fortune yet. Idc what excuse PB tries to come up with. And that was my problem with Sam in TNA. The excuses just don’t hold up when you consider how these people are characterized. Sam was grown, had been married before, and was way beyond financially stable. There was no reason for him to be pissing his pants about telling Mason Sr. he didn’t want to marry Sofia or for him to be worried about leaving a legacy for the twins. It’s lazy plain and simple

Bottas didn't win 10 gp for nothing and had the best q3 streak and yet people rate him so low just because lewis was so much better and they also do this to invalidate lewis, saying he had no competition. Same with checo actually although the narrative is different there because he's used to say max is even more brilliant for beating checo by such a big margin.
Valtteri is better than checo though imo because he's a great qualifier and hot take but if he's in the rb max would have had a harder time in quali and he would have to work more for his wins since checo is always having to go through the field to catch up
Anyway i love bottas, in terms of archievements he's literally top 4 on the grid rn after lewis max and fernando and people tend to forget that and it's sad .
Recency bias is so strong
recency bias is definitely part of it!! a lot of people underestimating him have only seen him in alfa/sauber which is ... not the best of cars. but being lewis's teammate is definitely a part of it too even though if anything, that should work in his favor that he could race with lewis! yeah he wasn't faster than lewis but then who is lol
agreed on people using him to invalidate lewis. i think he's also been given some unfair shit just because he's lewis's teammate - because he couldn't beat him, and it sometimes seems as if people are almost angry at him for that? i also think people peddle too many narratives about him hating lewis or being resentful of him when that's not the case at all but that's another post for another time lol i could write an entire thesis on the relationship between lewis and valtteri so i'll spare you anon lol
his statistics do speak for themselves. the race wins. the number of podiums. the fact that he holds the unofficial record for the fastest speed in f1. his dedication to the sport. his love for it. the q3 streak that's longer than red bull as a team's. valtteri bottas is fucking GOOD y'all
and yes, he absolutely could beat checo. as for him being more competition to max than checo, i'm not sure about that but i would like to see it. checo's issue is that rbr doesn't really let him, plus he also folds under pressure. i guess what works in valtteri's favor is that he can withstand the pressure of competing with a multi-wdc winner much better. so yeah i would definitely be interested in seeing what happens if you put max and valtteri in equal machinery and don't involve team orders at all.
tldr - valtteri viktor bottas is brilliant and i will tolerate NO slander on his name !!!

Hi, I was wondering if you knew when Vessel started 'dancing' on stage? I'm pretty sure he started doing in in the late Sundowning-ish era/ TPWBYT era but I thought you'd probably be the best person to ask about finding videos from when he started dancing.
Oooh this is an interesting rabbit hole, thanks for asking Anon 🖤
So... I guess it depends on what you mean by dancing, because Vessel has always sort of moved on stage, you know? But what he did back then and what he's doing now is completely different. Like... maybe a better word for what he used to do is "writhing." The earliest video of a ritual I've seen of Sleep Token's was their third ritual in (what I'm assuming is) late 2017, and "writhing" is probably the best word for what Vessel was doing on stage (and I say that affectionately/respectfully).
TLDR; Conclusively I would say Vessel started dancing, as we see him dance on stage today, in the summer of 2022. He's always moved on stage, and even acted unhinged during Sleep Token's earlier rituals. Below the cut, I go through rituals on YouTube from 2018-2023 to try and pinpoint exactly when Vessel started dancing like we see currently in 2023. (I went through quite a few videos, most not even mentioned in this monster of a post, so I made a YouTube playlist here).
A great example of Vessel's early "writhing" dancing is this YouTube video of Nazareth from the 2018 Leeds Festival (he's also an absolute menace here!! He steps on III, he didn't paint his waist or his back, and he strangles and spits on the original OG IV. Like... the man had demons and I am here for them). The dancing that's most similar to current times starts around 2:37 and 3:40.
2019 is impossible to find good videos for lol, since they did most of their rituals for the Beautiful Oblivion tour as an opener and, apparently, nobody films openers. But there are some with decent audio quality from ArcTanGent (my favorite being The Offering). Interestingly, he's less animated, still writhing, but not a menace to the rest of the band while doing so. If anyone is even slightly photosensitive please don't watch these ArcTanGent videos, the lighting effects really didn't agree with the camera's shutter speed.
This is a video of Higher from December 2019. The sound is not as crisp, and the videographer is quite a bit further from the stage, but Vessel is still moving, especially towards the end. The breakdown starts around 2:15, and while III and OG IV are definitely more animated than Vessel, he's still dancing with them. He even jumps down to scream the end of the song at the barrier (and has a mini-wardrobe malfunction) at 2:39. That crowd was really feeling it and so was Vessel.
Because of the plague in 2020, all of Sleep Token's shows were in January. Vessel's behaviour was very similar to the video posted above (just with less crowd interaction). The first show they played in 2021 was the Download Pilot. This is the best audio quality of that show, and Vessel also moves/dances the most in this video, though it's toward the end around 2:31, where the videographer forgot they were filming and just started vibing, so it's really hard to see, lol. I don't blame them, but it's also shakycam to the max. (Also, a quick fun fact, this is the first show the band played with our current IV as far as I can tell.)
This is another video from 2021, but from Sleep Token's TPWBYT rituals tour. It's Hypnosis, and in the very beginning, we see some Floor Vessel, which is neat and reminiscent of the most recent NA rituals, before he does some of his usual writing, though quite a bit more animated. Around 4:06 you can see the writing again, but after 4:19 it morphs into what we've seen from more recent rituals. (Also, if anyone wants a full 70-minute video of this show, filmed from the center of the balcony looking down on the stage, you can watch it here. Some parts have major flashing, so just be careful).
Here's another video of Hypnosis, this time from September 2022. Here, finally, we see Vessel's current version of dancing, hops and arm flails included. It starts right when the song kicks in at 0:13, and he does it again at the end, around 4:29. Technically they did a UK tour with the Architects in May (see this video of The Offering at 3:50) and an Australian tour in June 2022 with Northlane (again, see this video of The Offering at 0:20, 1:37), with similar behaviour from Vessel, but that BRRF Hypnosis video is the first video I ever watched of Sleep Token live so it's very dear to me and it's also better sound quality than anything I could find from earlier in the year.
I went way overboard with answering this question, Anon, but it was super fun, so thank you again for asking 🖤🙏 Again, I made a playlist of all the videos + several others. If anyone has any recommendations for me to add to the playlist, send the links my way (especially if they aren't The Offering or Hypnosis lol) and I'll add them in chronological order.

you seem to have a good read on HQ and your takes are great, so i have a question...and if you'd rather not go there, please ignore this! but i see oikawa get called "arrogant" quite often and i'm curious, would you say he is? what is it that makes people think that? imo he has a plenty of flaws, but i truly don't think arrogance is one of them. self-centered, sure, but not arrogant i think. i'm open to being wrong, i'm just legit so confused by that particular criticism, it makes me doubting my reading comprehension. i feel like that one post that's like "free my man, he didn't do that. he did a lot of other stuff tho" LOL. if you do answer this, then thanks for your time!
oh, dear anon. this is a very very big question and i'm honored you think i am capable of providing an answer that does it justice!! i don't consider myself an oikawa expert by far, but i'll do my best because he's still very beloved to me, and i hope whatever i say helps!
(but also - maybe take what i say with a grain of salt LMAO)
anyways, to get the main point out of the way: i completely agree that oikawa isn't arrogant! i actually haven't seen any commentary about that myself (bless!!!), so i can't say for sure why some people might think that, but my guess is that they think his pridefulness = arrogance — they think that the confidence he has in himself and seijoh contributes nothing to their actual power and is utterly meaningless if they don't win, especially in the face of ushijima. which, like, come on. what kind of captain would he be if he wasn't confident in himself and his teammates? is he supposed to tell them that they're going to lose??? is he supposed to discourage their hard work and effort???
or maybe it's because oikawa acts like he's all that, but doesn't have anything to show for it. who does he think he is? what does he think his pride is worth? what right does he have to go around making grand declarations when he has nothing to his name?
(which isn't entirely true, either, but we'll get into that, promise.)
now, do i think that he can, occasionally, be flippant, shallow, and/or petty? yeah, sure. he's got one hell of a personality about it. even iwaizumi says as much. oikawa is great at being a little shit. it's one of my favorite things about him!
but is oikawa genuinely arrogant, or self-centered? well . . . i don't think so.
see, here's the thing about oikawa: he knows he's good, but he doesn't think he's good enough. i think it'd be easiest to really explain what that meant if we broke this down into two separate parts, so let's give it a go, shall we?
(buckle up, friends, because it's about to get LONG. also: TIMESKIP SPOILERS!! and there's a tldr at the start of the tags because. WOW.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so, first things first: if people are calling oikawa arrogant, then i'm like 99% sure that they don't actually know what the word "arrogant" means.
"arrogant" is used to describe someone full of themselves. it's used to describe someone conceited and pompous. it's used to describe someone so assured of and invested in their self-importance that they don't care for other people, and if it seems like they do, then it's usually wildly off the mark and still serves to inflate their own egos.
oikawa has never once been like that. he's been pretty much the exact opposite, in fact.
and yeah, sure, by his third year of high school, he knows he's good at volleyball, and that's fine! it's perfectly all right to claim you're good at something if you have the skills/experience to back it up. confidence is healthy as long as it isn't in overabundance, and we actually see a lot of this throughout the series!
(not to mention that this was where ushijima fell short. he was overflowing with confidence. he did not believe, for even a single second, that hinata shouyou and his meager, scrappy little flock of crows could beat him.
but oikawa? he knew. he knew what it looked like to make something bloom.)
the key to oikawa's confidence that made him better was that he could pinpoint others' strengths and weaknesses just as well as he could with his own. and (bear with me, please, i might get kind of boring here bc it's nothing that hasn't been said in the manga before) i don't mean it in the way we see the coaches or more analytical players do, as observations to be taken advantage of by everyone else; i mean that in the sense of how vital it is to his position as a setter. that was always the biggest difference between oikawa and kageyama: no matter how much more raw talent kageyama had, no matter how much better oikawa believed him to be, kageyama, especially in the beginning, struggled to do what oikawa could with a team. kageyama struggled to bring out the best in each player. and it wasn't because he didn't know how -- oikawa freely admitted that kageyama had the skill for it, that kageyama, once he got his shit together, could win against him -- it was because kageyama didn't have that same confidence in himself.
(not until much later, anyways. but that's another story, for another time.)
so, oikawa's confident. he knows he's good. he can bring out the best in each player. he's got a killer serve (and a killer smile!), a mind for tactics that borders on machievallianism, and cherishes the trust he is given like it's something precious. his coaches let him lead without leaning on them. his team has the utmost respect and admiration for him. he has a reputation. from karasuno to shiratorizawa to the whole of miyagi -- there is not a single character who knows oikawa tooru and would believe that he is, in any way, bad at volleyball.
but it's not enough. despite all of that, oikawa still doesn't think he's good enough. and that, friends, brings us to the second point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oikawa tooru is nothing if not passionate.
so were the others, of course. kageyama kept going after his grandfather's death. hinata kept going while being a nobody from nowhere with no one to back him up. atsumu kept going while osamu didn't. it's not even about just those who went pro -- kenma, kuroo, noya, and everyone else found things that they were passionate about and kept going with it. the entire story revolves around loving what you do and trying to keep that love alive, and, sometimes, that can be really, really difficult when it seems like it doesn't love you back.
oikawa was so insecure over kageyama to the point where he nearly decked the poor kid. oikawa got crushed by ushijima-- who kept telling him that his team was not good enough, that his choices were not good enough, that there was nothing good enough to be proud of -- for years in a row. oikawa was taught that there would always be someone better than him no matter how skilled he was, but if he let that stop him then he didn't fucking belong on the court in the first place.
oikawa tooru is intimately acquainted with not being good enough, but he keeps trying to be. he keeps going. he tries to keep the love alive even if he's not loved back. he pushes and practices and takes a plane far from home to become even better. even if he doesn't have the skill, even if he doesn't have the talent, even if he doesn't have the love -- he still has his pride. and what does that mean, in the end? how far does that take him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the end, oikawa tooru walks across a world stage and sees people who believed in him on the other side and calls it a family reunion. in the end, he gets to play the volleyball that reminds him of why he loves it and how it gives him so much love back. in the end, his pride is unyielding and unbreakable, a product of the forge. he molded it with his own two hands. he will not let it falter so easily.
arrogance would not have taken oikawa tooru this far. i hope this has proven that he is anything but.
remember: instinct is something you polish. talent is something you make bloom. and never, ever let anyone else tell you what your pride is worth.

i think conrad is probably my favourite out of all tnf-exclusive characters tbh. hes just a sad old man who gets to murder the man who killed his wife if you let him and i love him for that. the most annoying thing about him is that this man will not waste any time sacrificing himself to save javi and ive had to reset my game So Many Times bc i was determined to not let him die on me. the game wants so bad to kill him on multiple occasions but by the end of it, despite the determinate death curse, he can still live. also, agreeing with him gets the clem flipping tnf off scene, so. win. tldr im glad to see someone else, esp one of my favourite artists, like conrad!! (- not the original anon, just a conrad enjoyer)
yeah i do like having conrad there during the badger fight too i like letting him handle it
i had no idea he could sacrifice himself for javi. i didnt even know he could still die after the train choice
and yes i like her little middle finger to max lol seriously having conrad around is just a win all around

Hey! On your poll I was going back and forth between yes and secret third thing BECAUSE I do think Izzy displays homophobia in the show. However, I interpret the incident you referred to as mostly misogyny i.e. that "real men don't show feelings." I think the derogatory words and actions towards Lucius and Stede are way more homophobic, but they're connected for sure.
I think the emphasis on boyfriend is making fun of him for being emotional that a man he loves isn't there and he wanted to remind him that (to Ed's understanding) Stede didn't care enough.
Tldr - izzy is homophobic for reasons outside of this scene, but his gorilla grip on societal standards of men bleed into his view of queer men, especially those who aren't "masc" enough for him
anon my beloved i must apologize in advance bc i had a very weird and emotionally draining day today and i am very tired right now. so i don’t know that this is going to be coherent. but also i like this ask and i want to say words about it before that poll expires tomorrow so i’m just gonna slap some shit together here and hope it makes sense
so first thing’s first, i definitely agree that izzy does homophobia all over the show. the reason i picked out this scene and that line specifically is because imo “pining for his boyfriend” literally sounds like a dumb middle school boy bullying his classmates on the playground. which is to say that it sounds like the most simple-minded homophobic taunt in the world. like i always think abt this scene in the last season of the magnus archives when the main character and his boyfriend roll up to some dumb meathead bully type who goes “who’s this, your boyfriend?” and the whole fandom was like “wow i can’t believe this guy is homophobic.” bc even if the bully is literally correct and the guy is actually his boyfriend, saying “boyfriend” in that tone is saying “boyfriend” like it’s an insult. which, clearly, is homophobic.
so yeah mocking ed for the pining bit is kinda more on the “boys don’t cry” misogyny side of things like you said, but the way izzy tilts his head and draws out the first vowel in “booooyfriend” to me reads like the single most straightforward and undeniable instance of izzy being homophobic in the entire show. bc even if (and this is a big if) izzy doesn’t actually care abt ed having a boyfriend and is just trying to goad ed into being blackbeard again bc izzy needs blackbeard to feel safe, the way izzy is choosing to go about bullying ed into being blackbeard again is through grade school level homophobic taunting.
however you are not wrong that there is also misogyny going on in that scene. and that is because these things are all so deeply intertwined it’s impossible to say where one ends and where the other begins. and this is where i don’t think i’m going to be able to maintain coherency lol but i’m gonna do my best!!!
like the thing with homophobia is that at it’s core, it’s about men not doing gender right. bc gender roles in western society are a fucking shitshow and the expectations for how men and women are supposed to behave extend into every facet of people’s lives. like we all know the basic “boys don’t cry, women are caretakers, men are tough and macho, women are soft, men are hard, etc etc” stuff. but one of the biggest areas where society has strict expectations of how men and women should behave is about sexuality.
men are expected to be attracted to women, obviously. but also men are often expected to be overtly sexual. having a high sex drive is tied to many guys’s concept of their own masculinity and their sense of personal identity. like this should feel like common knowledge right, the idea that some guys build their identity around “getting bitches” or whatever?
(the societal expectations for women and sexuality are a whole other shitshow that people have written entire essays and articles and books on, but im not gonna get into that here bc we’re talking abt ofmd, and this show is focusing on challenging society’s ideas about what it means to be a man)
the other thing with gender roles, and with male gender roles specifically. is that of the two genders that western society has expectations for, manhood is seen as superior. so when a guy is unable to perform masculinity to society’s standards, he is seen as less than a man. and what’s less than a man?
a woman.
men who fail to adhere to a certain expectation of masculinity are insulted by being likened to women. it’s why guys will literally say “don’t be such a girl about it” when another guy gets emotional about something. hell, it happens to stede in the show!! calico jack calls him “the big gal,” the british describe him as “a heavyset woman in a silk dressing gown.” stede is someone whose gender presentation does not match what is expected of him At All, from his clothes to his crying to his picking flowers to just his mannerisms and how he is. and stede has faced constant ridicule because of this.
so like. it all gets real tangled together. and a lot of the time it’s hard to say which is “more” present, homophobia or misogyny. insulting a man by calling him gay, insulting a man by comparing him to a woman, those things go hand in hand. having a gorilla grip worldview on how men “should” behave leads people to policing how men, both cishet and queer, perform gender and experience attraction.
so like, izzy’s general vibe of not caring if ed has gay sex, but absolutely caring if ed bottoms during that sex and caring if ed actually falls in love and cares about a man? that concept of masculinity, which calico jack is also shown to adhere to? homophobic. just like how his treatment of stede and lucius for being “less masculine” is homophobic.

Hey, anon who asked if I could go off about the current Moon situation here. Sorry I'm late, the ADHD struck and I completely forgot I sent that ask lol.
Anywho! I saw a post about how Moon's behavior in the episode where BloodMoon dies (y'know, where he confronts Sun after the barrel goes off?) was "guilt tripping" and "unnecessarily pressuring" and I just. *Yells of frustration*
He was so obviously just trying to comfort his brother who was clearly shook up! He could see that his brother was distressed and had been declining for some time now and wanted to let him know that he was there if need be. If anything, a little pressuring was warranted considering that Sun was clearly not ok and, y'know, just fucking killed someone.
Oh! And that's another thing! Moon at the time of the episode doesn't fucking know that! He doesn't know that Sun's true reason for being shaken was because he just committed a murder. What in the fuck would he be "guilt tripping" Sun for?
The post also brought up a bunch of other points, but I genuinely don't know where they came from or what episodes they were getting the behavior examples from because I honestly don't see any of it, at least not to the extent the poster did.
It frustrates me because the moment they did point out was one of Moon's best brotherly moments in the show, and they're trying to use it against him.
These characters are not black and white, good versus evil, they're people, with nuance, who won't always react in the best manner, and who won't always be the best people. I'm not saying Moon is perfect or free of fault, boyo definitely has some issues and stuff he needs to work on, but this villainization shit is really getting on my nerves.
Why don't we focus on the actual antagonist (key word: antagonist, not villain (though he very much would fit that definition too, saying he was a villain would undermine the statement I made not 2 seconds ago)) of this story, eh? You know, the person who planted a fucking bomb in Lunar's head? To get an overpowered star so he could do only god knows what with it? Seems to make a lot more sense to go after him than one of the protagonists.
Oof, sorry that was so long TvT. I really wanted to get that off of my chest but I'm too scared to make a public post. Thank you for listening!
(P.S, none of the anger or frustration in this is directed at you. You are very much not who I'm upset with and I appreciate you giving me a place to talk about it. /g)
First off I actually enjoy that you took the time to make this so long and detailed. Cannot express that enough. More people need to take time out of their days to see the full points being written, not just the TLDR. secondly, completely agree with your statements here. I'm been holding my tongue on the whole Moon villization thing for a while but recent stuff just broke that dam. They often blame Moon for Sun's own wrong doings and try and say that Moon is at fault when he's not. The whole garbage chocolate situation perfectly showed what I mean when the fandom likes to make Moon out to be the worst character. (Yes I did see their response to my own post, I will not get into it but I still do not agree with how they see Moon but they can keep their opinion and I'll keep mine) Thirdly, I've seen people say the same thing as you and I am glad I could be that voice for you guys too scared or anxious to get your thoughts out there. This fandom needs to work on respecting opinions, you're allowed to share your thoughts, no matter if people agree or disagree. Don't let others push you around <3 1 thing I've recently had in mind about this whole thing is I don't think a lot of people truly understand when Moon means he doesn't understand how to comfort. He's not a very social person and to expect him and Sun to know what to do despite these very obvious traits is missing the entire point of it all. The Sun and Moon channel is, although not 100% correct, shows a lot about mental health and the effects it has on people. Basically all the character have depression, from Moon who openly hates himself to Sun constantly doubting himself. Another big one that comes to mind is ADHD and Autism represiation in the show (Although this is more so headcannon) with how Lunar and Moon struggle with social cues and their tones being flat while Sun and Monty have a lot of energy and is easily distracted. In the end I think the fandom just needs to take more time in seeing the full characters, not just 1 trait. Hell like you said, all the characters are in a grey area, even the main bad guy Eclipse. I could make a whole argument that he's in just as much pain as Sun and Moon is. Does that make his actions okay? Hell no, but these characters have a lot more depth then what most people see

Hi BPP,
Since you are online, I was wondering what you thought about this.
I recently met some BTS stans and have become close with them. While chatting with them I have realised that they always box Jimin into contemporary and think that he isn't the best dancer/performer of the group. When I ask them why they think that, the answer is that BTS have always said JHope is the best dancer so why would they think differently. It made me really think about it all. I even tried focussing on other members when I watched their performances but honestly I don't see what my friends see. I know JHope is an amazing dancer as is Jungkook but sometimes I feel like Jungkook is more exercising than dancing but I can't seem to agree with Jimin not being the best in the group. Of course this all comes to preference and I understand that. But with these friends, it's not even a preference. They just believe it.
I personally find Jimin to be the best dancer/performer not only in the group but also in K-pop. I would go as far to say he is one of the best performers in the world.
Now do you think I am wrong in my conviction or am I being too biased? My friends do think that it could also be because Jimin is considered better looking so I am more focussed him. I mean I do notice his looks because who wouldn't but I don't know, I don't think it's as much to do with his looks as it is with his skills.

Hi Anon,
I’m pretty sure I’ve answered an ask that had a very similar question before, but almost a year ago maybe. And given I’m just quickly responding to asks now, I can’t easily look it up to link for you, so I’ll likely edit this post later to update you on my opinion re: Jimin, j-hope, and the best dancer debate, also referencing the point about Jimin being better looking apparently. A quick TLDR on that latter point about looks, this is one example of ARMYs mindlessly regurgitating narratives in the fandom and frankly being too stupid to be helped. In my humble opinion.
Anyway, I’ll edit this later when I’m more settled to link to the exact post. I’m home now but tired after my fancam marathon and ready to go to bed lol. So I’ll update this later.
**EDIT: Anon, you can find my reply to a similar ask linked here.

forgive me for a long rant but I wanted to say my thoughts on liking bad guys too. tldr included
not every opinion is sent through an ask. obviously there will be just horny anons (also I feel like it's a way lighter way to show your affection towards a character than writing a huge post), and some people will like him both appearances wise and story wise too. I don't see how one reason is worse than the other, you can love a character in many different ways.
but also you don't have to forgive a character who is a terrible person to like and understand them?.. do I like Luceris as a character? fuck yes, he's an amazingly written character with a great design. do I excuse or forgive his actions? fuck no, and I would absolutely hate him irl.
also I don't want people to feel like MC forgiving someone who ruined their life should be the seen as a better route 😬 plus you can love a character and still want them dead. I do that all the time in my writing :)
and I'm sorry but I feel icky when people say that the players who go on revenge paths feel like murderers MC are in the right. maybe some do. but on this path MC is just another flawed character to me that people should be able to love without being put in a "ah yes they excuse murder" box. plus story wise that's also an interesting path, and games don't always let you play a murderer you know. I want to know how will vengeful MC achieve their goal.
also even if Luceris was the MC in his story I would still want the kid to murder him, yes. because I like this turn! and honestly, seeing it all happen from his perspective sounds SUPER interesting. I haven't seen an IF yet where MC is bound to die in the end no matter what. tho it would be much easier to bond to him cause we will know what goes through his mind.
tldr: people should be able to like bad guys for whatever reason they feel like and it doesn't mean you forgive them or excuse murder. also killing off characters doesn't mean you hate them.
tldr for tldr: bad guys👍murdering characters👍
Oh, I agree with you! If I thought the forgiveness route was the best route it would've been planned first but I started writing this with the vengeance route only because this is a revenge story (even if MC decides not to because Luceris wanted revenge and he technically starts MC's story).
I added the forgiveness route because I thought it would be interesting to have a path that's the opposite of Luceris' path.
I think both types of MCs are valid, not everyone turns out the same way even if they share the same trauma.
Luceris is my most complex character, I spent a lot of time on him so I think it's weird when people ask me how I don't hate him like lol he's my little creation I love him. Will players still get the option to end him? Yes.
But the real life comment is funny because I wouldn't even want to be anywhere near him if he existed. 💀
I get a lot of anons that dislike Luceris and Lancelot (and others ofc but mainly them) and I don't answer them unless they're light-hearted so you might feel like there are a lot of people who love him but I can tell you the majority hate the guy.
I do think having him as the MC would make people understand and sympathize with him because as we can see with MC, people don't become that way unless things happen to them.
Personally, I won't feel bad if MC kills the ones that wronged them and I wouldn't feel bad if Luceris as the MC murdered everyone that wronged him.

i love your MQ art so much and i love seeing it in the tags! how have you been liking S3 so far?
first of all thank you so much anon! secondly you did not ask me to rant about this season but its the perfect opportunity to so forgive me lol
so far this season has unfortunately felt really off for me (save for the first 2 eps + most of the christmas ep + sarian) and now this may just be me being overly critical since these characters are so near and dear to me but here are what i think are some of the main flaws with this season:
the constant metaverse and nft promotion. this one is the most evident and the main reason why the first half of this season feels like a miss for me. it becomes a problem when every single character is shown openly endorsing anything crypto related, even characters that would realistically never in a million years like nfts (rachel mythic quest im looking at you) and the one character who is at all negative about nfts gets sent down to the basement never to be seen again. they even state in show how nfts have done explicitly good things! (giving carol a promotion) now i understand that this may have some part to do with ubisoft's involvement in the show and how pro-nft they are but if they weren't gonna do a fair honest critique about the subject of nfts/the metaverse i'd rather them not do it at all!
scrapping the foundation made in season 2. now listen i really didn't like them basically throwing away rachel's writer arc, brad's reserved janitor act and hera entirely AND HEAR ME OUT it could've worked a lot better if they stretched out this development over the course of the season but it all just feels soooo rushed. like take hera for example, the decision for poppy to give it all up could've had a much better effect if the game was shown more to be a primary focus of the season (an issue that's the next point) to up the emotional attachment the audience can foster for the game, theres so much they could’ve shown of poppy genuinely pouring her heart out into the flawless system shes constructing all to the build up that thats all the game can really be, a system, missing that it factor. with brad he essentially reverts back to the HOMIE with extra steps in less than 3 episodes, which is a bummer since seeing brad coming into the season humbled, confined to a role with significantly less power could've built on that fear, that grasp for control and even his raw power, HOMIE or not. with rachel as well scrapping her writer arc felt forced especially after the heartfelt speech she gave to see her giving up essentially because she wasn't excelling right away
too much happening and yet not enough somehow???? episode 3 and 4 especially feel really short to me like they feel like filler which i would be okay with but as the season stood we had also so many arcs being set up, janitor brad, david being in charge, grimpop, and a whole movie but it felt like all of it was the B plot for me at least
I'm not saying the season doesn't have things it does right; jos character this season has been the funniest shes ever been + some bits were really funny + the christmas episode and sarian helped me like the season a lot more (mostly bc those eps were detached from the main plot and were about the characters) and the cast stay stunning but yea. im curious to know others thoughts on the season and whether you agree though!
tldr more like midthic quest am i right /hj

i’ve stanned svt for a while and i just wanted to build on what the other anon said ^^
i highly doubt any of them will leave!! they’ve said many times in the past esp seungcheol that the members are more important than the company. if one of them was to leave i imagine all of them would follow.
unfortunately pledis is really fucking useless 😭 they almost never handle things well and within the industry most companies only care about what kfans have to say. majority of ppl getting on joshua for possibly dating someone are kfans and no matter how much we ask them to protect the boys better if it’s not kfans asking for it then they just won’t do anything :/ but joshua’s situation rn is not comparable at ALL to the shit lucas did - shua hasn’t done anything lmfao.
as for the hao/hoshi/dk thing.. ah it’s hard, but out of context or not, i don’t think that acknowledging that what they said was wrong or understanding why a lot of people were upset makes you a bad fan or them bad people etc etc. you can love people and still criticise and disagree with them. as cliche as it sounds, they’re human too and they won’t be perfect all of the time. it’s good to remember that, and that goes for any group or person you stan.
sorry for this rant.. tldr: the guys love each other, no one is leaving anyone; do not worry! focus on the present. i understand the worry, but constantly thinking about the possibilities of everything that could happen is just so draining imo. i’m gonna go now LOL. much love 🫶
i completely agree with u! pledis is fucking useless i knew this before even getting into svt bc my older carat friends would tell me 😭 and yeah i absolutely dont see any of them leaving. theyre the literal definition of found family i dont think theyd ever wanna continue if even a single member had to leave.
pledis rlly only cares for kcarats. maybe for jcarats too since they bring in the most revenue to them. and since they dont seem to care for the shua situation i doubt pledis or hybe will ever do anything :/
i also agree abt the dk minghao hoshi thing. it was very disappointing to see as it happened but sadly thats just to be expected from idols :/ but as u said its still completely understandable for people to be hurt and angry at their actions.
thank u for coming in to give ur two cents anon ily <3

I think I’ll go ahead and come off of anon xD. Mostly cause I have thoughts and would like to have someone to talk to lol.
Tbh, my emphasis on her fatal flaw being self sacrifice is probably a bit of a knee jerk reaction to how it tends to be portrayed in the fandom at large. ‘Cause it seems a common thing to portray her hubris as arrogance and I don’t think she’s very arrogant at all.
If I remember correctly she never really tries to place herself above anyone else. Heck, at the end of TLO she says that Percy saved the world and he corrects it to “us”. She’s even the first person to give credit to Tyson at the of SOM.
How it does manifest the majority of the time tho (at least in my opinion) is via reckless overconfidence. There are 3 instances which are usually used as examples to her nearly dying from her fatal flaw. The sirens, the sphinx, and Arachne. Of those the ones that are more overtly arrogance are the the latter two (tho I personally hesitate to include the sphinx because the dialogue to me sounds more like she’s having a neurodivergent breakdown but that’s another discussion). Everything else tho? The sirens, the manticore, the sky, the helicopter, fighting after getting stabbed, etc? Heck, volunteering for quests in general? Either reckless overconfidence or her just moving without thinking in defense of someone else.
TLDR, it’s not that I think she isn’t prideful, I just think she’s more likely to die to protect someone else.
Also, I think it’s kinda funny you say she’s not one to forgive when I personally think she’s one of the most forgiving people in the series. She forgives Luke and her dad, after all, even if, as you said, she never quite forgets. The only exception is probably Hera, which, I mean, is fair xD
- (Formally) A’s oath anon.
PS. I do write actually! Nothing for PJO yet tho not for lack of trying. I’m still in a bit of a writing rut unfortunately. Not to say I’m not interested in a collab with @glove23. I just don’t know how effective I’d be.
oh my GOD i love this!!! completely agree on her pride manifesting as reckless overconfidence, it's very much a sense of "i could do it and i could do it BETTER" that reminds me of the sirens' vision she had in the sea of monsters. honestly, her explanation of it hits the nail on the head - i think she says something along the lines of "but sometimes you just see the bad stuff/what if i could take everything down and rebuild it from scratch' which is so interesting to me!! i've said this before about her more emotional reactions, but annabeth, the supposed 'logical one', acts more on raw emotion than just about anyone. she gets angry and mad and JEALOUS, and she doesn't even attempt to hide it - that's what contributes to the way i write annabeth, which is pretty much as an emotional disaster. i love her so much
GOOD CATCH on her being forgiving; i really do think ive been confusing canon!annabeth with the version i have in my head?? either way, thank you for reminding me! annabeth is better than me frfr
i'd love to see what you've written, or if you ever get around to writing for pjo! i understand writing ruts, and i wish i had more advice on how to get those good ol' creative juices flowing, but all i can say for now is: don't force it. when you get into the mood, the words will f l o w.
@glove23 could probably help w that, tbh. they've been writing fics EVERY WEEK for what feels like 90 million years. i could never.

For the sake of my sanity, because I've gotten like 3 different anons debating MWTSN rn in my asks despite only having posted that one that responded to another - I have read all your asks, appreciate those of who were constructive in any nature, and I have listened and taken all sides and feedback into account. HOWEVER. I am not going to let an anon debate get public (again, this has happened to me many many many times over the course of my time on Tumblr), because I am very awkwardly in the middle of this here😭
To reinstate: I am more than fine with constructive criticism and appreciate the honest feedback (seriously, I'm doing another edit round tonight and fixing some errors I've noticed before the print version comes out - so genuinely thank you)! There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism. And I do not appreciate it when fans of mine insults another fan of my work because they dare say something that's not 101% positive - I like to hear real feedback. Even if I disagree with some certain aspects or opinions of the criticism, people still have absolutely every right to give that feedback and I'm not going to be upset by it.
I am getting very sick of a small but very vocal group of my fans (and if you don't do this, then I am not talking about you), so quickly going to attack anyone and everyone on "my behalf." Don't do that, seriously. If something does bother me, I will say so myself!! You only make me look bad with the behavior of this type, especially because many people assume I condone it without even bothering to tell me what's going on or look at my blog(where I constantly say I do not condone this and discourage it).
So, I'm just not going to be publishing any asks (right now there are 3) regarding someone who dared give constructive criticism which I thanked them for. I do appreciate the second ask sent as well by them and have taken the aspects I agree with into account and will be using that to improve.
(oh, regarding the thing about time: julius and Killian are actually able to travel through time like a special dimension, they are 4th dimensional beings, I've talked about it quite a few times but I don't expect anyone to read through my entire blog lol).
TLDR: DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE TO ANOTHER PERSON ALL BECAUSE YOU'RE A FAN AND DISAGREE WITH THEM. THAT'S STUPID. Some of y'all in my asks are getting way too bitchy about this, and so for my & every mature person's sake... I'm just not posting any of these because I have a book I need to finish writing, not time for -motions- this.

Hi there Ryuichirou!! I adore your art so much, I adore the artstyle AND you always have such interesting ideas and AUs, so I always look forward to see you post new works. Especially the AzuIde and LiliIde ones those are veeeery *chef's kiss*
I have a question, what do you think of other Idia ships like him with Silver, Leona, or Malleus? Idia have interesting dynamics with these 3 in canon (he's so shippable with anyone hahah) so I wonder what you think them!
Thank you so much, Anon, this is so kind of you to say! It’s so cool and motivating to hear that you like our ideas and AUs and my artstyle and everything <3 !! I really really appreciate it.
To be completely honest, we don’t ship Idia with any of these boys, even though I agree that Idia is shippable with pretty much anyone lol, it’s fun to see different character bouncing off his gloomy and snarky hikikomori self.
But the thing is, like I mentioned before, once we start seeing a character as a top or a bottom, this view rarely changes, so their dynamics never really clicked with us the way they should for us to start shipping them. It’s just a personal taste thing. TLDR; they’re all bottoms to us lol We can enjoy their interactions without shipping anyway, like we do with Idia and Vil, but it’s obv different from wanting to see them as a ship.
I actually did talk about not shippig Malleus/Idia in this reply, if you’re wondering. I’ve also listed all of our Idia ships in this reply…
We do have a ship list, but to save you a trip, here are the ships we have with the characters you’ve mentioned: Sebek/Malleus, Sebek/Silver, Lilia/Silver, Ruggie/Leona (but we have quite complicated relationships with Leona…) Not that something new can’t pop up any day, but, unfortunately, not with this bottom community lol

"dr character analysis anon" again, hi. Saw the thing about Komamiki. I have...mixed feelings about that ship.
While Komahina does objectively have the most going for it, I'm personally a multi-shipper for Nagito. I think the fandom really sleeps on a lot of the ship potential he has with some of the other cast. Admittedly most of the potential is with male characters. But outside of some fun platonic BroTPs (like Sonia and Nagito), I'd say there are 2.5 good f/m ships for Nagito. Komanami, Komazumi, and depending on the writer, Komamiki. Because a writer I know who's played around with it over the years has done some pretty interesting stuff.
Now I say "2.5" because like...I have noticed a REALLY weird pattern with Komamiki. In that it seems to be the main Nagito ship pushed by fans who are incredibly harsh on the character and vocally against Komahina. Who are typically also Hinanami shippers. I've even pointed out examples to that writer, and they found it pretty baffling too.
Like one of the most insane takes I've ever seen (and the writer wholeheartedly agreed with me despite being only mildly into Komahina) was someone pointing to Komamiki as "a healthier alternative to Komahina". Because like...one of the most interesting things to explore about the ship is that it has a high probability of turning quite ugly and toxic. And to actually get a healthy Komamiki outcome requires quite a bit more work than most other Nagito ships. Like one of those good Komamiki stories I read had both of them go through therapy before meeting again as adults after Hope's Peak closed down (a kind of non-Despair AU).
Yet those detractors of Nagito seem to really think that they could just hit it off pretty quickly. And that Nagito's worship of Ultimates would be a boon to Mikan's self-confidence. As well as Mikan being a nurse making her a perfect partner for Nagito. Which is just...no. A happy relationship between Nagito and an Ultimate should have him gradually come to see them as a partner and an equal. And Mikan's FTEs show exactly why giving her a partner medically dependent on her is a TERRIBLE idea. She would need to come to terms with just how unhealthy her desire for control over her patients is before having a partner like that.
So yeah, tldr, I think Komamiki can be an interesting ship to explore, but I can't help but view some of the people pushing it with a bit of mistrust. Like I almost wonder if a handful of them are doing so in bad faith. And perhaps they actually do want Nagito to end up in an unhealthy co-dependent relationship where his partner has power over him.
ok see i agree with a lot of the points here ive always been interested in the komaeda mikan dynamic, just platonically. because i cannot see him liking women romantically (or her liking men romantically) at ALL like i just cannot see it. their dynamic is very intriguing from what little hints of it we get from chapter 3 its just that in my eyes they wouldnt be toxic lovers theyd be gods worstest girlfrenemies. i support the dynamic i do not support it romantically lol. and also id never trust a komamiki shipper like ever at all because of what you outlined . its like how youre always suspicious to trust junkan shippers because their dynamic can be interesting to explore but it has to be handled carefully to be brought justice yaknow.

just saw your recent post. the grief is hard and i feel the same way. i could just be carrying on with my day but i get reminded that he’s gone and all the anger, sadness, and guilt rushes in.
while i never knew him personally and i am a fan of his, i would like to think that he would want everyone to remember him in his happiest moments. that brings me comfort. it’s easier said than done but i believe we can eventually get to a point where we can celebrate his life and art. we can keep his legacy alive by talking about him in every context. i just hope he and his family find peace in all of this.
(this was also me venting too lol sorry)
I really appreciate you responding to my post, I was not expecting anyone to cause I was venting in the tags but I've always loved having anons in my inbox in general but also helping us all during this awful time.
But yea, I agree with you. I'll be going about my normal fucking day and doing what I need to do to move forward in my life and then have it hit me that this guy that impacted me, even tho I didn't know him, died and I'll never get to see him make an impact or grow from the pains he was dealing with at the moment.
And I do agree, he would be so fucking pissed we were being sappy and sad all the time and a bit embarrassed and yet geeked at the outpouring of love for him. I do feel like I can say I'm happy to have gotten to the point in my grieving that I've accepted what's happened and yet I can't say I do accept it... grief over a celebrity is tough and the parasocial relationship doesn't help either.
TLDR: I'm still here, I still grieve Angus and will for a long time, and idk where I'm gonna go with this account, my writing, etc.
