What miraculous do you think are the ideal matches for the madrigals?
Also I love your art
It depends on if you want to go by a strict gift basis or personality. Some of those aren't exclusive though-
TLDR-
Julieta- Wayzz, Alma- Nooroo or Liiri, Pepa- Daizzi/Longg, Bruno- Sass or Tikki, Felix- Diazzi, Augustin- Kalkki, Isabela- Pollen, Dolores- Longg or Barkk, Luisa- Pollen & Duusu, Camilo- Pollen, Antonio- Duusu/unclear, and Mirabel- any of them really.
Bonus Turtle Julieta who didn't make it into AVB- Her name is Hicotea
Tumblr media
Julieta for example I think would do well with the turtle both because it's the closest to her gift (since besides the ladybug there isn't a healing power) and I think she and Wayzz would get along well.
Alma would theoretically either have the butterfly (Matriarch deal) or the Ladybug and Cat. But I don't think she'd get along with any of the kwamis very well. Maybe Liiri, but she'd not here.
Pepa would power wise have the dragon, and I think in personality it fits okay. But I would personally either give her Wayzz or Daizzi. Possibly also Orikko.
Bruno would have either Fluff or Sass based on his gift and I think he'd get along with both. I also think he and Tikki would get along (hence Cochineal) and Plagg would have a similar dynamic with him that he does with Adrien, albeit less parental/familial, more platonic. I think he and Mullo would also get along.
Felix would get along with Daizzi, Ziggy, or Orikko. All three seem to thrive on holders with high energy and positive attitude
Augustin could do well with Wayzz and possible Kaalki, since she's probably help with his clumsiness through sheer determination. As well as Stompp who would go "Fuck it, lets just throw shit." I gave him Sass in AVB since I figured he'd be willing to try a million times to get it right, but its not my fist pick.
Isabela would probably do best with Pollen, both because haha Bee, but also- Pollen is a very loyal bee. She calls Isabela her queen but if her queen wants to throw color bombs and do fancy acrobatics with vines? Bravo! Keep going. I stand by the idea that Isabela and Longg could never really get along. Second choices would be Xuppu or Trixx since they'd encourage her to have fun but Trixx for sure would not let her get away with being bitchy. Tikki would also probably do her good.
Dolores could still do well with Mullo at the best of times but I'd be more inclined to give her Pollen, Longg, or Barkk. Pollen and Long would be very respectful of her sensitive hearing while still helping push her, and Barkk would bite anyone being too loud. She is very loyal. Dolores would probably also do well with Plagg for the simple fact he is high demand for food, but very apathetic the rest of the time.
Luisa would match with Roaar in terms of gifts but personality wise I think Pollen, Duusu, Kalkki, or Barkk. With I think Pollen or Duusu being the strongest two.
Camilo would match with Trixx for powers but I wasn't kidding in A Lawless Cat when I said I thought he'd make a good Bee. They're leaders and need to hold attention, but can get in a good sting if you turn your back. Other pick would be Orikko.
Antonio I think does well with the Peacock but otherwise he's a bit to young to know what other miraculous he would thrive with. His compassion would potentially also do well with the butterfly.
And now Mirabel, the character who i think has the widest picks.
Sticking to Cannon Encanto Mirabel I still think she'd have the widest variety. Obviously Nooroo is the top pick, Mirabel likes to help people but most of the time she's teaching them to help themselves first. Even to her own detriment. I think she and Tikki would thrive as two creative spirits, same with Ziggy. Her compassion and good understanding of feelings and others, would make her do well with Duusu. Plagg would encourage ehr to fight for herself, Liiri would want her to break free. Xuupu, Trixx, Orikko, and Diazzi would help her bring fun back into her life as well as spread her strengths to others. She's intuitive enough to work well with Sass, Roarr would push her to take power into her hands and be heard. Stompp would teach her to defend herself. The only kwami I think she wouldn't get on perfectly with is Longg, but even then it wouldn't be particularly bad. It's just that- Mirabel has specifically gone her whole life seeing herself as Imperfect which would strain her connection to him.

Im sorry but what the fuck is up with Disney making a 'woke' snow white remake that will just probably be another "Let's hit copy-paste and ruin the original story" when MIRROR MIRROR already exists?
Like there is already a feminist snow white retelling that is a hundred times better than anything Disney could come up with that does not take away from the story but adds to it with much better costuming made in 2012!
I mean it stars JULIA ROBERTS as the Evil Queen? and it supports actual actors with dwarfism. Plus Lily Collins plays Snow White and though I only know this one movie of hers and have never seen Rachel Zegler act, Lily is probably a better fit because she isn't Columbian for one thing. I mean, it's snow white?
Again, If you want a Columbian princess, make a movie on Columbians instead of casting her as SNOW WHITE. As a person of colour, this is more harmful than not casting her because it perpetuates the storyline that she has only been cast to further this myth that Disney is trying to spread of being woke, feminist and supportive of LGBT rights. And god forbid they actually do this and I'm probably cursing myself but if you want to make a live-action Colombian princess without putting in the work Encanto exists? But then again I am praying Disney does not even think of touching encanto because that was one thing they got right (this is thanks to the efforts of multiple directors, screenwriters, and animators! and not due to actual effort put in by Disney btws they just reaped the profits)
Anyway yeah, TLDR: don't go ruining a good thing and make actual movies with diversity instead of slapping on an actress who doesn't even look like what the character is supposed to look to appear 'woke'

oh for sure!! raph is like, real hard on himself, everyones their own worst critic. he cares a lot and it shows, and that can manifest in being overprotective, like you said. it comes from a place with good intentions and wanting your siblings to be safe and to live their best life, but that cant happen unless they get out there and actually experience life, yknow? granted, im an oldest sibling myself so im a little biased, but tldr: raph is Good. very literal solid 10/10. hes so big cuz hes full of love, its where he keeps all of it. like a build-a-bear.
Oh? You're the eldest sibling? Does that mean you also cried to that one song from encanto. What's it called.
Surface Pressure?
Anyways! Other than that you're right, raph is basically just a giant teddy bear with a lot of stuff(ing) on his mind! Someone should give an a-paw-ause for that joke-

I won’t be posting anything on here about my book since it’s original work, but Gus Pinheiro is a main character and perhaps the best version of him I’ve ever written (to me lol time will tell as chapters are written).
What I’ve shared so far with others on my new original works discord has been met with good things, and we’ve got channels for feedback and critique set up to make sure we’re keeping up with original content and holding one another accountable for art and writing. It’s so easy to always fall into fanworks, but I think with the rich environment cultivated so far among friends on our other server, it will be a lot easier to stay on path and get feedback in the moment as I go along. And the same for them as well!
Precipice will end soon in about 5 more chapters and an epilogue, and I’ll still write small stories for encanto for the Arcilla AU for those interested, but I am eager to finish a novel (for once lol) and strive for publication.
And it helps me to know others are taking advantage of the same group and will be able to do the same for their stuff too.
Recently at DragonCon, 3 of the people in my server met up to hang out and the stories I’ve heard have been so uplifting. It makes me very happy to know a fun experiment of getting strangers together through fandom can work out well to the point of lifetime friendships and friends who are there for one another during the hardships of the present. We have disagreements and the occasional roll of the eyes with one another, but at the end of the day, I appreciate when this group is able to see the good in one another and set aside those differences to focus on the important things in life of helping one another. I think it’s made us all a lot stronger and more understanding of ourselves and others ❤️
It’s been a week lol and between therapy, work, family stuff, writing and fandom work in coming up with a zine with a handful of other incredible folks, it’s a very stable bar to hold onto for support. I’m glad I’ve been in a good place now the last few days, so I can be there for them like before. I enjoy collaborating and meeting new people. I enjoy openly showing my inner feelings of love and affection by helping others, and in that assistance, I know in my heart what is right, who I am, and it’s given me immense inner peace to work on things I can change for the better but have faith in myself for what I’m doing right 😌
It’s like coming out of float therapy without the hour of dark solitude lol
TLDR: I’M EXCITED FOR MY BOOK AND MY FRIENDS AND I CANNOT WAIT TO MEET MORE OF THEM AND HAVE OUR BIG SAPPY REUNION NEXT YEAR WHEN WE RENT A BIG CABIN FOR A FEW DAYS!

🔮- how would your younger self react if they met current you?
🐙- how many languages do you speak?
✈️- what’s a place you’d love to visit?
🦕- what’s a pet peeve of yours?
🧛🏻‍♀️- what’s your favorite horror character/ monster?
🍿- what’s the last movie you watched?
🥳- what always cheers you up when you’re in a bad mood?
🔮 - i think they’d be a bit, well confused, because as a child, i also thought my life would be way different, and that’d be a different kind of person in the future. but, i also think they’d be happy, because i was able to grow and mature a lot in the last few years, and my life has definitely changed for the better since a certain time of my life :)
🐙 - technically 4 plus 1 dialect (i say technically because i don’t really use two out of 4 languages that i know; also, i basically always use the dialect i know whenever i speak because that’s just how it is in austria lmao)
✈️ - honestly, i have always wanted to visit london!
🦕 - i think one of my biggest pet peeves is that i most of the time speak way too fast, so, it’s sometimes harder for people to understand what im saying
🧛- oh man, that’s a good question lmao id say possibly dracula, if we like go with the classic ones - but, there’s many different kinds of (also modern) characters from horror movies and games i like a lot lmao - tldr: hard to answer because there’s too many of them
🍿- im pretty sure that was encanto (or, well, my rewatch of it lmao)
🥳 - listening to my favorite songs, and talking to people that are dear to me <3

Encanto review thingy sort of
Unpopular opinion but even though I love the songs in Encanto, specifically “surface pressure” and “we don’t talk about Bruno”, I felt that the story itself was just slightly above average, like a 6.5/10.
Pros:
It was relatable, especially coming from a background similar to the characters of Encanto where family pressures and the overemphasis on the importance of family ties actually often end up being detrimental mentally to the children, and that people who end up not fitting in/being useful become the black sheep and is ostracised or even not spoken about at family gatherings.
That’s one of the reasons I adore Luisa, she never treated Mirabel horribly. Even though she’s this big buff strong woman that everyone relies on, you can still see such love and gentleness she has towards her younger “untalented” sister. I mean look at how she has her arm around Mirabel in this photo. Just 💕.
Tumblr media
Bruno loves his family so much that the thought of him hurting or ruining his family’s image with his gift caused him to “disappear” and essentially live within the walls of the house, to remain close with his family, but not so close that he can cause them further unhappiness.
Other pros:
The overall animation and character expressions were amazing, the world was colourful instead of drab, the settings were stunning.
Cons:
There is not enough time given to each individual character and the conflicts are resolved too quickly. The pacing of the movie is also very weird, important scenes in the movie feel rushed and feelings are glossed over.
Mirabel has all the right in the world to feel disdain towards the perfect Isabela. Even though Isabela suffered as well from the pressures of being perfect, she was also constantly mean spirited to Mirabel in a way that Luisa never was. And then they sing a song about how Isabela was doing it for the family and was not given freedom to express herself and they hug and the good ending prophecy was achieved or whatever.
Same with Mirabel’s conflict with Abuela. Like yeah, I get it, she’s old and had her own trauma, but she was definitely let off too easily. Like her attitude towards her own son cause him to self-exile for 10 years because he thought that was the only way to make her and in extension the rest of the family happy. Seriously, wtf? Then they sing a song and she hugs him and everything is sunshine and rainbows again.
While I do not hate Alma as a character, I think more of the healing should’ve been shown on screen rather than an off screen implication.
Tumblr media
Even though it’s realistic because you can have the worst grandma ever (a.k.a my paternal grandma) and everyone just brushes it off as “she’s old”, “she’s suffered a lot in her life”, “it’s a generational thing”. It’s a bad lesson to teach in a movie. I mean basically Alma went “sorry, it was trauma lol, but I’ll be better now :)” and everything she did that hurt others in the past just doesn’t matter anymore. Everyone’s mental health is now cured. 🌈
Anyway, yeah.
Tldr,
1. good songs
2. love most of the characters
3. unfortunately there were so many characters that most of them feel very under-utilised. The movie would have benefited from an additional hour or from a mini series. Example: I love Antonio but I straight up forget he existed every time he wasn’t in frame.
4. the way they resolved conflicts were lame, the way they just sing away their trauma and immediately forgive the people who mistreated them was also kinda lame.
No need to add your 2¢ cause I kinda don’t care lol. Make your own opinion essay.

Thomas astruc is a little bitchass mf for dissing Encanto for multiple reasons but the ONLY ONE i will mention right now is because Encanto had dozens upon dozens of Colombian cultural consultants and you can TELL how much love and thought was put into the film, it was full of such Colombian love and pride right from the opening scene and it was showcased throughout the film and even tiny background pieces that lasted maybe a second but like YES. I NOTICED THEM. And as a Colombian I was crying the entire time because I’ve never seen my culture showcased so beautifully on the big screen by such a BIG NAME company.
meanwhile astruc simply resorts to racist stereotypes and does the barest minimum possible to emphasize Marinette’s Chinese heritage. And they straight up had a movie that takes place in China and had Marinette’s main focus to be going after Adrien instead of actually exploring her heritage. I’m not Chinese so I won’t speak about what aspects of the culture the show overall could have done better, I’ll let someone more qualified speak about that. But there is a tangible difference between something just being slapped on and calling it cultural diversity, and something being so lovingly, carefully researched and actually interwoven with the story.
tldr: astruc should keep his mouth shut on what makes a good story when his own work runs on the bare minimum

Encanto Spoilers lol
Okay so there’s a scene that has stuck with me the three times I watched Encanto, and after three watch throughs, 4 videos of others watching it(one of which being a therapist), watching a therapist talking about the roles in the family and watching an Honest Trailer, a few tiktoks sprinkled here and there I haven’t really seen anyone talk about it so I will talk about the scene.
The scene in question is when Casita is breaking and Mirabel, Isabela and Camilo immediately head to the candle. Now sure on the surface level it means that they are trying to protect the candle the symbol/source of their miracle and house and stuff. But why was it these three specifically to head towards the candle?
I believe I figured it out.
I believe that Mirabel, Isabela and Camilo are the “peacekeepers” of the household. In different ways, they try to keep up the mood of the home and the family together.
Let’s discuss it.
Mirabel is the most obvious, she spends the entire movie trying to figure out what the problem is and how to fix it to for the good of her family. She’s trying to keep/bring peace and peace of mind to her family, by actively solving the problem.
Isabela, she’s how I got to this conclusion, I was rewatching the clip of her an Mirabel’s fight because it showed up to me on YouTube. And when she was talking about how everyone was happy and everything was perfect, I was like “oh shoot, she was keeping the peace of the family by keeping Abuela happy and doing thing that was deemed ‘good for the family’” That’s it, that’s how she keeps the peace, it was very spelled out and I knew that but like I just took a minute for that to really hit me.
Then I thought: Is that who was running towards the candle in that scene? The peacekeepers?
And yes, I believe so.  At the point where I’d figured it out I’d seen the video of the therapist talking about the family roles which informed my conclusion but let me get there lol.
In the video, which I’ll link in this sentence, she talks about how Camilo is the “Distractor” or like basically the class clown of the family. And that’s just it, he’s the one who lightens/lifts the mood, usually with a joke. And we see that in the movie, when Isabela is freaked by the idea of marrying Mariano and having his five babies, Camilo turns into him to make a joke and in a sense calm her down. After the dinner, we see Camilo comforting Pepa, he is trying to lift her mood. That’s how he keeps the peace.
So yea, (tldr) Mirabel, Isabela and Camilo though using different tactics are the overall peacekeepers of the Madrigal family and that’s why they were the three to try so hard to make it to the candle in the scene where Castia is falling apart because it was their last ditch effort to keep the peace.

the deal with encanto and headcanoning away being completely missing the point is like. you know that one post where it said "just bc something isnt queer rep doesnt mean it isnt good rep"? yeah this is a case of exactly that. nobodys saying that the characters arent queer, or that seeing characters as queer is bad, but that its... completely missing the point. there are other things to focus on than queer headcanons.
isabela could very well be a lesbian!! who knows!!! but her arc in encanto isnt about a queer identity. and that's the truth. while it may share some similarities with a character that is getting over internalized homophobia, the fact remains that it isnt. and its not queerphobia to point that out.
just because representation isnt for you doesnt mean it isnt important. rather than connecting through your queer identity, itd be better to focus on the messages actually being shared lmao. half the point of representation isnt just so you can see yourself, but also so you can learn and understand other people as well. this is one of those cases where its better to sit back and listen.
tldr: just because encanto doesnt represent queerness doesnt mean the representation is pointless at all. its just that queerness is not the main focus of the movie, and saying that it is misses other important points that are being made. representation doesnt have to be about you all the time.

so i wanna take a minute and compare 2 of the most recent Disney movies, Raya and The Last Dragon and Encanto. these movies are extremely interesting considering that Disney is moving away from vaguely European fairytales to fairytales of other cultures. looking at the general reception, critical acclaim, and people watching, Encanto has obviously captivated more hearts. as someone Southeast Asian (Indonesian) i cannot deny that i loved Encanto way more, We Don’t Talk About Bruno is in my head nonstop. but what should also be noted is that Encanto is also much more specific about which culture it wants to take inspiration from. is this a factor to its success? let’s discuss.
from the movies opening shot, to its inspiration, to its setting, to its credits theme Encanto is in Colombia, the movie gives us no room for doubt. therefore, it is much easier to pin down primary sources, references, and inspiration for the film. just ask Colombian people, go to Colombia, ask a Colombian anthropologist, etc. heck, this Colombian YouTuber is able to pin down the exact time in history it might’ve taken place. that makes the end product much more specific and ultimately a much richer experience. the setting feels like a real place, the story it tells is extremely relatable and feels real, the culture is much more immersive. if i were Colombian (which im not so take it with a grain of salt) i bet it would have been an even more breathtaking experience watching this movie. now look at Raya. you can see even from analyses of the movie’s wardrobe that it takes inspiration from all over the place sort of indiscriminately. although most of the movie is inspired by Thai places and culture, it takes references from all over Southeast Asia. the head of story is Thai (Fawn Veerasunthorn who I’ve followed for YEARS she’s great), the academic consultant is from Bali (iirc), and a lot of the cast is actually East Asian; it feels like they were grasping at straws to make the lore for this movie. i know what they were going for, a fantasy land based on Southeast Asian culture. but Southeast Asia isn’t a monolith. Southeast Asian countries being part of ASEAN is the last thing we have in common. we have vast array of cultures, languages, and beliefs. SEA countries on the mainland and SEA countries south of the equator are literally 2 different language groups. heck i don’t think the ones on the mainland have that much common with each other. Raya’s lore didn’t do justice to all these cultures. what should’ve happened was Raya should’ve been a TV show with proper built up lore to honor all these cultures OR Raya should’ve solely based on Thailand and stayed a movie. i think it would’ve been a much richer experience. this is coming from a place of disappointment for Raya. it was a movie i first heard when i was like 15 or 16 and i waited 5 years for it. i think i would’ve been just as happy if the movie was solely based on Thailand if it meant that it would be a much better movie. my first instinct was to forgive the movie; there isn’t a huge amount of Southeast Asian immigrants in the US, thus not everyone is familiar with the SEA experience. but no. Disney’s got the dough, it’s fucking Disney. they can get any resources they want. ultimately, it felt like Disney didn’t care enough about Raya to make it good. it didn’t think that Disney audiences would care enough about a Southeast Asian or a Thai story.
TLDR: Encanto is good because it respects the culture it takes inspiration from and Raya isn’t as good because it doesn’t.

just watched encanto and it was so! good! dont think i’ve had this much fun with a disney movie since... ever.. rly. in terms of looks, easy 10/10, antonio is super cute and i love love luisa and mirabelas designs. i got the impression it was gonna be beautiful from the trailers but you really have to see it to fully appreciate the visuals. and even though the family’s pretty big, theyre each so unique and entertaining, like the shape shifting guy doesn’t get that many lines, but from his voice and animations alone, he’s literally one of the best characters.
tldr watch encanto lol

tldr: i convinced my friend to watch encanto and then we got into a discussion about what mirabel’s gift could be. (yes i know im late to the bandwagon of theories)
so i was talking to my friend about Encanto and convinced them to watch it. afterwards they had a few interesting questions. so i thought it would be cool to note down some interesting points we covered in our discussion. including some theories!
“is mirabel’s gift, being the candle?” now this was a really good question, had me thinking a bit. so i let them know about the community’s theory on mirabel’s gift before giving my thought on their question. i mentioned how some of y’all theorise that: mirabel wasn’t given a gift bcs casita sees her as an equal and therefore doesn’t need a gift, mirabel is to be the next candle guardian (like abuela), mirable was given a gift but it is to control time ( @officiallydriedkelp ), mirabel’s gift is being a therapist to the family acting like a glue as well as acting as the bridge that connects the madrigals and the community, mirabel wasn’t given a gift bcs she wiped her hands (that were sweaty) on her dress. i told them that i.. didn’t actually know the answer.
“she [mirabel] could have multiple powers” this peaked my interest so i asked them to say more. they said “time did stop [...] and put the doorknob on it became alive again” putting the magic back into the casita?  so i offered “her gift could be the ability to revive the magic” and followed up with the part where bruno said “you just gotta see it” and when they say “what do you see” “me”. it could be a possibility, mirabel acting as an embodiment of the miracle. or the magic in each family member.
“wait her [mirabel] powers could have something with time [...] timeline” this was very interesting. she was able to see how pedro died, able to see her hugging isabela (with the help of bruno, what if people cant see the visions until after they become the glass plaques). they seemed pretty hellbent about her gift being something to do with time and timelines.
finally i offered them the thought of her gift being empathy, something underrated but could be an important thing to show in a film like this. empathy is a strong gift just like the miracles. she could feel/see what others did (grief possibly during pedro’s scene), she was able to see the cracks during antonio’s ceremony (could the casita be connected with mirabel), her seeing exactly what luisa is talking about in surface pressure (her holding too much, making sure not to buckle). it could be something so simple, something that everyone has (empathy) however mirabel could just have a stronger sense of it. she cares about the family, casita, the towns folk, etc. what if the miracle knew that her empathy alone was enough? that she didn’t need a fancy gift?
idk lmao

hey hi and by god hello im here from the blaze post and i hope youre taking care of yourself. drink some water if you havent yet <3
anyway on to the goods
important context: back in febuary i got kicked out of school. id been in a really bad depressive funk since october and i didnt do any of my school work. It was a private catholic school and while i didnt really care about the school itself i was ripped away from my friends. Im at a new school now and ive got a new group but things arent exactly sunshine and rainbows.
ive been feeling shitty lately. i have this "friend" at school, who ill call Gidl (short for girl i dont like). I have to tolerate her because shes friends with my friends and im still the New Kid.
it seems like almost every time i talk to her she says something terrible to me. once she spent 15 minutes telling me about how she "dosent get" being nonbinary even tho (probably because) she knows thats how i identify. she comments on the food i bring for lunch, which is already a very sore subject for me (i have issues with my weight). one time someone said they didnt like the movie encanto and she acted like she got called a slur
she asked me why i got kicked out and after i explained the mental health issues she said, quote: "not to be mean but i dont really get how people can just not do their work. i mean i have anxiety and depression and i still get all a's" girl can you see how thats not helpful
also shes like. very catholic. up until this point id been in catholic school my whole life. as a queer person i think it goes without saying that i might have some trauma related to that.
but up until a few days ago shed been manageable. annoying yes but i could deal.
let me set the scene for you:
lunch time, crowded cafeteria, my lunch table filled with me, my friends and Gidl. somehow we get on the topic of movies, specifically turning red vs encanto. most of us agree that turning red was better. Gidl takes personal offense to this. I tell her that other people are allowed to have opinions. she quiets down. we move on in the conversation. she does not. she attempts to move the convo back to her. we, mostly ignore her. she yells at us. we ignore her. she turns to my friend brian and says "if i were to try to jump off a bridge what would you do"
i leave.
its just. god. i know shes in a dark place and wants positive attention but girl queen. suggesting suicide in random conversations is not how you do that.
and ive realized that because of this ive subconsiously connected her to my older sister who deeply traumatized me
(the short of that trauma is she got really depressed and very often it was my problem (showing me fresh sh wounds etc) she was in and out of hospitals before geting sent to a residential out of state. shes back home now and doing better but i still harbor a bit of resentment.)
anyway. im basically rabling.
tldr the girl i dont like triggered me at school and on monday i have to go back and pretend to tolerate her :/
sorry for the long ask, take care of yourself bestie <3
Hi anon,
I'm sorry to hear about Gidl's behavior. I understand that it can be complicated to stop talking to this person when your friend group is enmeshed, but unfortunately I'm not sure what advice to give that wouldn't potentially complicate those connections as well.
If you're willing, some suggestions I came up with would include potentially be to talk to the administrative office (prinicipal, vice principal, etc) or guidance counselors / social workers if there are any, and tell them that this person has been annoying/upsetting you multiple times and you'd like to get their help in separating you two.
I can't imagine that talking to Gidl directly would end well, but I think you could preface by just explaining calmly and politely that you keep getting triggered and/or upset by what she says, and basically say that unless she stops, you can't be her friend anymore (don't put it that bluntly). From that point, if she does something again, you can take it right to the main office. I know it seems rather extreme, but this person does sound toxic and so it might be complicated to get her out of your hair on your own.
Best of luck, again I'm sorry about your situation with her and I hope things resolve soon! You're welcome to send me a follow-up if you want.

Cant tell if Encanto was generally just a bad movie used to grab a certain demographic and sell to them with easy stereotypes and passing it off as ‘representation finally’
Or if the fact that the marketing team did such intense PR on it, like wow so much PR in my area, convinced people it was a good movie.
Felt like a cash grab and a formula. Cant they just have representation without making it a cash grab. Cant their movies be more unique? Coco already felt icky because the movie was pretty good/unique (in my opinion) and then Disney absolutely ruined it by trying to trademark Day of The Dead. Honestly did i just watch Luca again? But instead with different culture replaced? Disney literally just has a money making formula at this point.
Anyways TLDR; Encanto was just your basic recently produced disney movie. Very little story creativity. Rewashed ideas of old movies with new inclusive face-lift. Cute and #sooo relatable (dont forget the cute marketable animal characters they gave a silly personality too, theyll turn them into plushies!)
