I honestly wish we had more Hide content than what we got if I'm being real😭💀like these two would've been such good friends and could've even gotten out of shenanigans so easily. One of the things I heavily disliked about ;re was how Touka all of a sudden doesnt have her same clothing style?!?!? Like she ROCKED heeled booties and could’ve had so many more fire outfits with wedges or something. Some cropped jackets or more color, she used to be so vibrant with her outfit choices and after the time skip it was nowhere to be found.

I can understand since the arcs afterwards were more serious but cmon, let my girl keep her wardrobe. Literally crying about it. Like we get the most simple fits from her after the huge time skip and for what🚶‍♀️at least her wedding dress was fire but that was about it😭😩 miss my boi Hide so much, he doesn't even become really relevant in the story when he's reintroduced which made me so sad bc he was such a bright character. Also he had a whole plot for himself and NO ONE EVER TALKS ABOUT IT WHATTT. Other than that I wished these beans had more interactions given how close they became with Kaneki again in the final quarter of the series, it just doesn’t make sense to me that they wouldn’t have interacted much even though they become so involved with Kaneki and everyone else. :(

This art is also very old, I just wanted to share it bc I miss them and I was figuring out how to do shadows when I made this so it’s not a total mess and has a very solid vibe😅

having witnessed both the tokyo ghoul and attack on titan fandom discourse, I can tell you right now that this jjk chapter is going to be praised like it's the best chapter ever written in like 2-3 years (once the fandom hype dies down).

I think a problem like this arises because of two things:

1) personal perception of people's favorite character turns out to be factually wrong and now they have to call the author a "fraud" and say that they retconed them instead of admitting that they themselves missed the point

2) following an ongoing manga, without going back to read its entirety or certain chapters, makes people forget a lot of things about the world itself and the characters which ties back into point 1)

Not to be an annoying But The Lore manga fan, but wasn't it literally said in text that a body being able to survive special grade curse possession was a 1 in a million chance 😐 And Kenjaku did the whole body swapsies + seduction thing to create a perfect host? Ayato Kirishima with a Dove! Reader Hcs

cw: canon-typical violence mentioned, it's been about a year since I've watched tokyo ghoul so some things might be inaccurate, set during/after kaneki was haise, SPOILERS FOR THE END OF TOKYO GHOUL: RE, borderline stalking mentions (ayato wants to make sure the reader can be trusted), enemies to friends to lovers type beat, mutual pining

Ayato Kirishima would not like you at first. Let's be honest here, the Doves use the deceased Ghoul's Kakuhou to make their Quinque. Ayato would hate your guts.

You'd initially been placed on the Quinx squad to more closely observe Haise, or as the Doves know him- Kaneki Ken. You'd never really liked the Doves and had hopes that during your lifetime there would be a rebellion so that Ghouls would be able to live freely and would be accepted socially.

When Haise regained his memories and became Kaneki Ken again, you’d damn near begged him to allow you to be his insider.

You’d meet with Kaneki in secret with his new team, Goat, to go over plans and feed them information.

Initially they were all wary of you, and Ayato had expressed a very clear disagreement with allowing you to join. Fortunately, Kaneki stepped up and explained your situation to the entirety of Goat.

Ayato was initially very, very rude to you. Most of it was passive-aggressive, but it was obvious that he didn’t like you. Especially when you’d confronted him and he said as much.

Ayato kept a close watch on you, expressing his distrust and borderline stalked your movements. When he was sure that you could be trusted, he stepped back and apologized for his behavior.

As time went on, yourself and Ayato slowly became friends. The two of you worked together to take down the CCG, finding that you made a good team, and thus your relationship improved greatly.

The two of you slowly fell in love after CCG was dissolved, often spending time under the stars and talking about anything and everything; Telling stories of the past, reminiscing, and enjoying each other’s company.

You and Ayato often went on walks or hikes, or even spent some time just watching tv in one of your apartments. When one of you wanted to train, the other would be the sparring buddy- honing skills together, offering advice, and critiquing techniques.

When he would accidentally hurt you during training, he would immediately inspect your wound and bandage it with shaking fingers and his lips pressed into a thin line. He hates hurting you or seeing you hurt. He’s always careful to not hurt you, but sometimes it’s inevitable and he feels absolutely awful. You’ll have to cheer him up or he’ll sulk for the rest of the week.

When the two of you would meet up, he would bring you your favorite snack and your favorite drink and you would do the same. It became a tradition of sorts after you brought him snacks for the first time.

He’s a tsundere, so when you start picking up on his new behavior, he will adamantly deny any sense of attraction to you. Naturally, he’ll be blushing and averting his eyes- he’s kind of obvious <33

Eventually, Kaneki and Touka will force him to confess because they can’t stand seeing the two of you evade each others’ advances anymore. It became painful for the both of them.

When Ayato confesses, he simply shoots you a text, telling you to meet him at the regular spot at the regular time out of the blue.

Ayato will show up with flowers in hand and a blush on his face and say, “…i’m in love with you.”

Of course, he would avoid eye contact with you because he’s flustered and he’s afraid that you don’t feel the same. He’s oblivious.

When you accept his confession, he’ll pick you up and spin you around, then lay on the grass with you and hold you close to him. He’s over the moon!

Ayato as a lover is super gentle and will absolutely communicate everything to you. He’s your lover and best friend.

He’s also super protective of you. Should you be in danger, he’s there in the blink of an eye.

Also has Touka teach him how to cook human food so that he can wake you up with a tray of breakfast and cook you something yummy when you come home from work.

In hindsight, you should have never fallen for him. 

He was one of the CCG’s Investigators. 

And you were a ghoul. 

He didn’t know, of course. 

You posed no real threat to the CCG. You were pretty sure that in their ranking system, you were on the lower end. Maybe Rank B? You weren’t positive. It wasn’t like you could go in and request that information. 

“Hey, Koutarou?” You ask one day over coffee. It’s early in the morning before Koutarou has to leave for work and before you have to go to your own job. Your husband hums as he reads through the most recent report assigned to him. He didn’t look up, but he was listening. 

“Do you love me?” At this, his coffee cup pauses on the way to his mouth. He sets it down and looks at you in concern. 

“Of course I do. Why do you ask?” He says and narrows his eyes, “Are you divorcing me? And so soon after the wedding?” He asked, and you panic, waving your hands frantically as you try to quell his fears. 

“No! No! Absolutely not!” You say and are cut off by the sounds of his chuckling. 

It’s soft and overwhelming at the same time.

You look up from your coffee to see him smiling warmly at you, eyes glittering like stars and so full of love it makes your disgusting black heart ache.

He leaves you in the doorway of your shared apartment with a kiss to your lips and a promise to return home safely. 

Oh, how you wished you could tell him. 

Maybe he would understand? No… of course he wouldn’t. He was Amon Koutarou, a near prodigy of Mado Kureo and a rising star among the ranks of the CCG. You knew he would kill you if he knew what you were. Knew what vile creature you were that had been tricking him into thinking you were human.

You just didn’t expect it to hurt so much.

His quinque buried itself deeper and deeper into your chest. He twisted the handle, and you let out a strained little gasp as the blade scraped against your heart. There was a spurt of blood as the ugly organ tried to keep beating. 

But you were dying. 

Your fingertips felt numb, and your retinas tingled as your kakugan faded away. A cold burst of water washed blood and grime off your face as a cloudburst erupted, and a downpour of rain sucked any heat from your body. 

The quinque pierced through your back and buried itself into the wall behind you. Koutarou’s teeth were twisted in an angry snarl, and you realized something as your vision faded to black. 

He was crying.
