Saw someone deny the Kazurei ship because “the series makes it clear that Kazuki still loves his wife.” And that is such a bizarre argument.

I would hope that Kazuki still loves Yuzuko.

I would hope that Kazuki will love Yuzuko until the day he dies, because she was his wife and he loved her when she was alive. Why would he stop loving her because she passed away?

People, and well written characters, are complicated. They can love more than one person or thing at a time. Polyamory is a very real thing and a way some people love. But this situation with Kazuki isn’t even that. It’s a past love, since Yuzuko is no longer here with him.

Outside of past relationships that have turned sour because of something like abuse or the like, pretty much every person in the world has pieces of their heart that will always belong to someone they love: platonically, familially, romantically, and everything in-between.

Love is complex. The way people and well written characters like Kazuki interact and engage with love is complex too. Plus, the entirety of Episode 7 was literally about Kazuki learning to move on, let others in again, and learn to love again - without restraints and the past holding him back.

So, that dude who wrote that tweet just completely missed the point of Episode 7, lol. Like, Kazuki can have a picture of himself and his wife from when she was still alive up on his desk in his room, while also caring for Rei and forming a potential relationship with him in the present. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. It’s like how a parent is able to love more than one child at the same time. 

It’s not that hard. But some people will try to deny queer readings of text no matter what.

Okay! mechanic!Simon (one of my CORB pieces) has been getting a good amount of my attention this week, as has a new fic I'm writing for In Other Lands. So, have some snippets of both of those.

It's a good job, too. Except that sometimes you see a car that makes you want to scream. Like today, some posh git brought in an MG, forest green, soft top. Lovely original paint that's clearly been sitting out in a carpark somewhere for years just being rained on. And that's not the worst of it. Because this car must have been running on wishes and good luck for at least six thousand miles. When I asked the bloke where they'd been having it looked after, he said: "Honestly I don't know if Fiona ever brought it into a shop." I held out hope. Perhaps Fiona was his senile gran. Perhaps Fiona couldn't remember where she'd taken it, or didn't keep the papers, or her friendly neighbor cleaned the spark plugs and injectors and topped up the coolant and the engine oil.  Then I opened the bonnet.

And a fic for In Other Lands which I cannot reveal the working title of because it will RUIN the SURPRISE.

Whats the most delicous mushroom and in what way is the best way to eat it?

I don't think I can answer this question objectively. 😁 If I have to choose from the mushrooms I've personally tasted, I'd say boletus species like Boletus edulis also known as porcini mushrooms, Boletus pinophilus, Boletus reticulatus (B.aestivalis).

Definitely fried (for me). I quite enjoy them pickled, too, but it might be too slimy for a lot of people.

Chanterelles are a close second, also fried, but they make a great sauce and soup, too.

Agaricus bisporus (known as champignons/ cultivated mushrooms), also fried. I can't believe I'm gonna say this on a mushroom blog, but when it's pickled, agaricus bisporus tastes like a deodorant, imho. 😆

for years it remained so: bláth holed up in a new and colorful city with no plans of ever dragging his past out. then he met cris, and it was a sweet story, really, built around tentative gentleness and care entirely foreign to both of them. cris lived with his own criminal ties, nowhere near bláth's nightmare, yet close enough to not see himself having a future. so bláth did what he was best at: put together an operation to bring another ring down, for cris.

the plan needed a foolproof intimidation tactic. he shaved his head and ate what was left of his brother.
