You woke up to gentle knocking on your front door. You woke up cuddled under a throw, a book laying by your head, with a playlist on repeat from the television, and candles still burning on the coffee table. When the knocks came again, you batted your eyes open and sat up from the cushions, looking around in your disoriented state, trying to figure out who would be knocking at - you glanced at the clock on the wall - two a.m.. And then you remembered why you had been trying to stay up so late in the first place. Joshua.

“Oh shit, oh shit,” you came out from under the blanket and off the sofa to your feet.

You hurriedly crossed the living room to the front door where you peeked out the peephole, and with an excited kick of your heart, you opened the door to see Josh on the other side. He was in an oversized winter coat with the fur-lined hood over his head and a pair of sweatpants with an overnight duffle bag lugged on his shoulder.

“Hi,” you whispered, still half-asleep, but your hands went out to touch his face as he stepped forward over the threshold. His face was flushed from the cold weather, the tip of his nose pink.

“Hi baby,” he said quietly, pressing a soft kiss to your lips before you pulled him further inside, shutting the door to keep out the cold behind him. “Sorry I was late, we didn’t land until after midnight and I showered and-” he nodded towards the duffle bag on his side, “I couldn’t find my bag when I got home.”

“It’s okay, you’re fine,” you said with a smile as you tugged off his hood, arms sliding around his shoulders. “I just thought that maybe you had gotten lost on the way here.”

“Oh, I totally did that too,” he grinned and kissed your cheek, and then your lips.

You smiled into the kiss and pulled back, taking a step back to open yourself and the house up to him. “Well, welcome,” you told him.

The plan for the night had been made on an early morning phone call last week. Josh called you from Washington state, a little homesick, a little lonely. He told you that when they got back to Nashville, he wanted to see your new place, that he would come over as soon as they landed.

You and Josh had started dating just a mere few months ago and at the time you were searching for a new place to live, so most of the time you two had spent together had been at his, or at his brother’s - Sam always called Josh up with last minute dinner plans, so at least two days out of the week you were at Sam’s dinner table drinking palomas between the induced-chaos from the siblings.

But now, after a successful move with a couple weeks to decorate, and a delayed flight, Josh stood in your living room, admiring every aspect of it you had put together - the lamps and warm lighting in the corner of the room, a fake fireplace that was lit to resemble a roaring fire, colorful throw pillows on the velvet sofa, a shelf with books and knick-knacks, and a coffee table with incense and candles. And then Josh spotted a particular item on the coffee table, one that immediately made his nose turn up and his lips point into a smile. The Santal 26 candle with a burning wick.

“My favorite,” Josh mused, his hand sliding to your waist, wrapping around you. You giggled.

You had made the point to get the candle. A fucking eighty dollar candle. But you knew it was his favorite, so that dulled the sting a little when you swiped your credit card.

“You’re my favorite,” he continued, nose pressed to your temple.

You laughed again, still a little sleepy, unable to come up with a response before you were pulling him further into your home, through the doorway into your hallway, feet bare on the cold hardwood. You guided him into the bedroom, hand dropping from his as you sat down on the edge of the bed. His eyes roamed across the black accent wall. You had changed your sheets to nicer, fancier ones. You had even bought a humidifier to keep on his usual side of the bed because you knew he always liked to keep one around.

Josh stood in the doorway, admiring the room as a whole when you asked, “are you okay?” with a laugh.

Josh batted his eyes once, then twice, as if pulling himself back into reality with you. He just smiled and walked in further, dropped his duffle bag to the end of the bed, and cradled your face with his hands.

“I’m absolutely perfect,” he told you, his eyebrows raised and stern, letting you know he was telling the truth. “I love it,”

You nodded and let out a small breath of relief, one that even loosened the tension in your shoulders. In addition to the sheets and the humidifier, you felt like you had spent the last twenty-four hours cleaning every surface, putting together a calendar of things for you two to do to ensure he doesn’t get too bored of you, and in the end, panicking about it all.

Josh noticed the change in your face. “Were you worried?” He asked, almost grinning, as if nervousness was something you shouldn’t have even considered.

“Well, yeah, kinda,” you finally said with a light laugh. His thumbs caressed the apples of your cheeks and you looked up to him as he stood between your knees. “I wanted to make sure everything was perfect when you got here. I mean, you’ve been on the road for a while and I wanted you to be comfortable and relaxed.” You shrugged. “I wanted it to feel like a home.”

“Baby, you’ve made this feel more like a home than my actual house.” He admitted and your eyes fluttered shut in relief, a laugh escaping your lips a second later. His eyes were still trained on you, and you nodded. “It’s perfect, absolutely perfect. It could be me and you and this big house and nothing else, and it would still be perfect.”

“Okay,” you whispered, relieved, “I guess I was being stupid.”

“A little,”

You quickly pinched at his side, causing him to chuckle as he turned away. Ticklish. You looked back up at him with a gentle grin. “Shut up,”

Josh could only laugh. He kissed your forehead, the tip of your nose, and when you scrunched your nose a second later, he smiled and kissed your lips.

“Okay, okay, get settled in,” you slapped at his butt, “do you want something to eat? Drink? I got mini marshmallows and know how to make a mean hot chocolate.”

“You really know how to swoon me,” he teased.

You rolled your eyes playfully and stood. Josh made himself busy with his duffel bag and you walked back out of the bedroom to the kitchen. There you poured milk and cocoa powder, sugar, and salt into a saucepan on the stove and listened to the music coming from the television in the living room. Something from Mazzy Star. You felt a little more awake, willing to spend the night with him rather than sleeping.

Once the mixture was warm, you pulled it from the heat and sat it to the side to add the chocolate and whisked it until it was melted. When you grabbed a mug from the rack on the counter, you sank back to your original height and into Josh as he stepped up behind you.

“Do you want anything else? Something to eat?” You asked as he wrapped his arms around your waist, as he began to move with the natural sway over your body, side to side.

“No, I’m fine,” he told you, breath ghosting over the back of your neck before he kissed across your shoulders. “I missed you,” he said. He gripped at the material of your sweatshirt, his other hand sliding under it, rubbing at your skin. “I thought about you the entire time I was gone.”

You popped a few small marshmallows on the top of the hot chocolate and sat it to the side before you turned in Josh’s arms to face him. He had ditched the winter coat, his white t-shirt underneath, but he was so warm, a nice contrast to the dropping temperatures outside.

“I missed you too,” you said. “Do you have any plans now that you’re back?”

Josh dropped his head, forehead to your chest, and sighed. You reached up and touched the back of his head, fingers in his (still damp from his shower) curls that were so soft against your palm. You continued to sway, rocking you both back and forth.

“No, fuck all. Just want to sleep in and be with you.”

You smiled. You pressed a hand to his face and tilted his head back enough to kiss his forehead. Josh hummed and raised his head, nose nestling along the crescent of your jaw and then he kissed you, softly, perfectly. Eyes fluttered shut, you sank into his touch, the feeling of his body against yours, his mouth on yours.

In the adjacent living room, your playlist continued to shuffle. The hot chocolate came to mind again and you broke the kiss with a tiny laugh, and Josh mouthed at your chin as you reached for the cup.

“Here, before it gets cold,” you said, shoving it towards him.

“I’ll get it a second, let’s just stay here,”

“Like this?”

“Mhm,”

You sat the mug back down onto the counter and Josh reached up, taking your hand in his and intertwined your fingers. Arm around his shoulders, you watched carefully as he straightened his posture and held your hand, and began to rock with you. You two danced in the kitchen, in the lowlight.

Josh stepped back and held his arm and hand high to spin you. You giggled as you turned and he pulled you back into his grip.

“You should come with me next time,” Josh said, hand back in his, and you two moved, bodies ebbed and flowed so effortlessly.

You raised a brow, taken by surprise at the sudden request. “On the road?”

“Yeah, why not? Not for the whole time, if you don’t want to, maybe just a few days or a week.” He offered. “You can come - visit new places, stay in nice hotels, watch us play…”

“Of course a selling point is getting in free to a show to see your face.”

“But I think you’re pretty partial to seeing my face after all, baby,”

You laughed, rounding the kitchen island, feet moving slowly but with perfect precision, like you two were trained dancers. But instead of being trained in dance, you two didn’t know the dance at all, you just knew each other that well to move as one.

“Pretty partial to seeing your pretty face,” you teased and Josh shot you a grin that made your heart flutter in your chest. “I would love to. Just tell me when.”

Josh pulled you in closer to rock back and forth and you listened to him hum the chorus of the song playing;

major breakthrough in my search for the puss in boots anime i watched as a kid!!

half a year after posting to lost media subreddit i was contacted by a fellow slovenian who is also looking for it. he had a dvd with a few episodes and has been putting them on his youtube channel, i believe he has 5 or 6 episodes in total.

we found a bunch of cheap listings of other episodes on slovenian ebay, all in slovenian dub as we remember it. he's on a lookout to find any other listings. the show is 26 episodes long, meaning there is likely 4-5 DVDs. i think that we'll be able to find at least most of the show, if not the entire thing.

A/N: This was written for @thesoldiersminute 3k celebration (congrats again babes) ‘cause when I saw the “Is there anything you love so much, you’d protect it, no matter the cost, the damage it did to you?” immediately I screamed: TOMMY AND CECILIA. So here we are.

1. This is a prequel of “All the blood I lost with you”, but I believe it can be read as a standalone.

2. Please, PLEASE, read the warnings with caution and don’t read it if you think one of the topics will trigger you.

3. For the sake of my sanity the reader is named but uncharacterized, so if you want to replace the names, you can use the InteractiveFics Chrome extension [You’ll have to replace “Cecilia” - “Cellie” and “Clark”).

4. The explanation to why I decided to name her is only to add some depth into the story by linking her name with the actual plot of the fic. Cecilia means “blind”, in most places you search for it. I like the idea that Cecilia is blinded by her love for Tommy, like Polly said about him and Grace in the first series. As for Clarke, it means “clerk” or “priest”. It kinda makes sense to me that Tommy never lets go of her because she is his “priestess”, the one he always comes back for absolution. He doesn’t believe in God but he believes in her, in some twisted, cruel way.

5. The song from which the title was taken is “Lies in the dark” by Tove Lo (and I’m totally ignoring the fact that the song is related to Fifty shades of gray).

“Where’s Tommy?”

“Good day for you too, love,” John mocked, kissing Cecilia on the cheek, making her smile. “He’s at the Jurossi’s.”

Cecilia’s smile faltered as she averted her gaze from John, stared at the wall and swallowed the lump in her throat.

It felt like going back in time, at times she didn’t have to ask for Tommy, he would just find her. Until Greta.

She remembered the first time the lines between what they meant to each other got blurred.

The memory of that night was still alive in her memory as if it had happened yesterday. How he kissed her so sweetly and so full of hunger at the same time. How thoughtful he was in touching her, kissing her and reassuring her all the time. How right it felt when they were finally joined together as one. She woke up in his bed to find a red rose on his bedside table, only to run straight into Polly as she walked down the stairs with a grin on her lips.

After that, it became a habit, like second nature. He would search for her at any given opportunity, kissing and touching her until all she could think about was him. Spend the night in her room after climbing through her window. Sometimes in his room, they always tried to keep themselves quiet, speaking in rushed words, concealing moans and gasps by pressing their mouths into each other’s skin. Fucking on the floor so they didn’t have to bother with the bed springs making too much noise.

Yet, Cecilia wasn’t the only one. She never was. Tommy had girls throwing themselves at him the whole time. In the beginning, it was just them, and she almost believed that something would bloom out of whatever the hell they had. Soon she learned that it wasn’t enough for him. She wasn’t enough for him.

Tommy never cared about hiding the girls he fucked about with. His brothers and friends teased him about it and he only smirked, telling them to shut up, but he never denied it. Not with her. Their little escapades were always meticulously calculated so nobody would see them together in a compromising position. Of course, Cecilia was at the Shelbys all the time and she was, indeed, Tommy’s friend, he never made a move to acknowledge their relationship. On the contrary, he was keen on keeping it hidden. Cecilia would always be Tommy’s dirty secret.

She still had the moment realisation dawned upon her.

Kiss me in the corridor, but quick to tell me goodbye.” “Yeah, it does sound like my son,” Gemma says, giving her a sideways smile. “And we both know how this ends.” Gemma looks past her sadly, focusing on the old bike at the end of the hallway. “I do, but it’s normally worth the ride, sweetheart.” Her footsteps echo as she strides away, leaving (Y/N) alone, her words echoing in her ears.

It catches Tommy completely by surprise. One minute you’re entering the pub and in the next your arms are around his neck and your lips on his. He reached for your waist, instinctively, hearing the whistles and snarky comments of the man around but can’t find it in him to care much.

You had been away for three weeks helping an aunt that lives in the countryside and Tommy couldn’t deny how much the lack of your presence had affected him. He missed you.

So enthralled in making dinner, you didn’t hear Tommy entering the kitchen. One minute you were checking his mom’s cookbook–or what was left of it–the next strong arms were encircling your waist and bringing you flush to a firm body.

“You’re early,” you comment, smiling.

His face is nestled in the crook of your neck, placing hungry kisses on your skin.

“Couldn’t wait to see you.”

You gasp when he makes quick work of turning you around, lifting you up to the kitchen counter before kissing you hungrily.

“Tommy,” you protest weekly. “Dinner…”

“Dinner can wait. I can’t.”

You don’t even try to pretend you don’t want him. His touch alone made you shiver. Seeing him hungry for you made you melt. Simple as that.

You dodged his next kiss to look him in the eyes, as he huffed in frustration.

“Turn off the stove.”

He smirked, mischievously, making quick work on releasing you following your order.

When he got back between your legs his hands were already tracing a path up from your calves to your hips, dragging your skirt with them as he kissed you thoroughly.

“Missed you,” he murmured against your lips in between kisses.

“God, you’re insatiable. We’ve fucked this morning.”

“Will never have enough of you.”

The existential crisis, the feeling of total existential terror, is strictly built upon things that the respectful school of philosophy would look down on as simple, and kind of dumb. It’s sadness. Human sadness.

The existential crisis is a convoluted way of saying “lost in sadness”. It’s like you can’t accept your sadness as sadness, you’ve got to pump it up into this incredible, ironically meaningful concept. This is something that somebody who is embarrassed of being sad would do. Someone who can’t admit that they are affected by the world around. Someone who has a problem with being emotionally vulnerable…

… instead of experiencing sadness like a child who’s lost a toy, they experience a philosophical disaster, both words that are seeping with perhaps too much significance. Sadness to them is insignificant, indulgent, frivolous, and shouldn’t be sat in for long. The existential disaster makes this very insignificant feeling, significat, enough to warrant immense amounts of pondering… perhaps bordering on indulgent.

Someone like this somewhere down the line felt like their feelings should be hidden, they shouldn’t be shown, lest someone attack their soft underbelly, rendering them small, defeated, weak…

Philosophization and music are both things I engage in with a covert (sometimes not covert) interest in creating something significant, something that people want to look at and celebrate, out of things that I’ve felt like were better hidden (for a myriad of forgotten reasons).

Philosophy and music are both high-brow ways to complain and cry. You give your emotions this disguise, so that if people enjoy the song say, you can feel good about it, and if they don’t, you can ignore it because “it’s a song”.

It’s like we believe our emotions, feelings, thoughts, whatever, aren’t good enough on their own. Like nobody will love them in their natural, naked form. So we dress them up, make them fancy so that maybe they can attract friends and have fun. This is how I sometime treat myself as a whole, as if I’m living in a world that is only interested in that which is hyper beautiful or an expression of the highest human ideal. (*We have replaced friendship, a place where our naked feelings need not be inflated and jewelled, with social media, a place of competition for attention.)

Of course this is not the case. It is true in the sense that examples of hyper-beauty, etc, are the easiest to monetize and spread. There is a cavernous interpersonal world that is relatively invisible compared to the hyper-visible world mentioned. It is the one that this generation will find it’s true self inside, and lasting meaning and happiness. We must stop looking at each other like internet posts vying for our attention. We are the keys to each others fulfillment.

If you are experiencing an “existential crisis” you are not searching for what is real, you’re searching for what is good. Good is more permanent than what is real. Real is matter, ideas, things, forever coming and going. Good is a feeling, and feelings are always with us. We may not always have access to certain things, people, etc, but we always have access to our feelings, all of them.

If you find a way to spin your circumstance as positive, that is the truest version. The version of your circumstance that excites you the most, that is the truest interpretation of your circumstance. Our interpretations of our life laden with emotion, the emotion can either motivate us into motion and creation, or into stagnation and misery, that is the only choice.

One should be careful not to disguise their misery, their stagnation, with philosophical blabbering… interpret your life in the most exciting way, and begin peddling toward your ideal. If that scares you, it’s because you’re afraid to leave things that are familiar, but are not serving your best self. You’d rather try to fix the familiar into serving you, than find something that naturally serves you…

How Helpful Was the Helpful Content Update?

On August 25, Google started rolling out the Helpful Content Update, an ongoing effort to reward sites with “people-first” (i.e. not written specifically for SEO) content. MozCast measured rankings flux peaking at 92°F on August 26, which sounds relatively high, but this is what the two weeks on either side of the update looked like:

The dotted blue line shows the 30-day average for the period prior to the start of the update, which came in at 87°F. Ranking flux actually peaked on August 23 above any day of the update rollout. To make matters worse, we had to remove August 8-9 from the 30-day average, because Google’s data center outage completely disrupted search results. Let me sum up: it’s a mess. I like to think I’m pretty good at handling messes, but this is like trying to find one particular drop of water in two weeks of rain during a summer-long storm. If you like messes, read on, but for the rest of you, I’ll tell you this — I found no clear evidence that this first iteration of the Helpful Content Update moved the needle for most sites.

Averages, lies, and damned lies

Given the extended rollout, I attempted to look at the difference in visibility for individual domains for the 14 days before and after the start of the rollout (which helps smooth out single-day outliers and keeps the days of the week consistent across both sides). One “loser” that immediately popped up was Conch-House.com, with nearly a 50% visibility loss in our data set. I admit, I even got a little judgmental about the hyphen in the domain name. Then, I looked at the daily data:

The averages don’t tell even half of this story. Whatever happened to Conch-House.com, they were completely knocked out of the rankings for 20 out of the 28 days analyzed. Note that the MozCast data set is limited, but our much larger STAT data set showed a similar pattern, with Conch-House.com ranking for up to 14,000 keywords on one day during this period. What happened? I have no idea, but it quite definitely, almost certainly, very probably maybe was not the Helpful Content Update.

Confirmed content coincidence

Here’s an example I got pretty excited about. WhiteHouse.gov saw a +54% total visibility gain across the two time periods. The keyword set was pretty small so, once again, I dug into the daily numbers:

Looks great, right? There’s a clear spike on August 25 (although it fades a bit), and while the spike wasn’t as large, I was able to confirm this against a larger data set. If I was smart, I would’ve stopped the analysis right here. My friends, I was not smart.

Is it helpful content (regardless of your take on the issue)? Almost certainly. Could WhiteHouse.gov be rewarded for producing it? Entirely possibly. Was this increase in visibility due to the Helpful Content Update? Probably not.

Is this blog post helpful content?

Hey, I tried. I’ve probably lost three nights of sleep over the past three weeks thanks to the Helpful Content Update. The truth is that extended rollouts mean extended SERP churn. Google search results are real-time phenomena, and the web is always changing. In this case, there was no clear spike (at least, no clear spike relative to recent history) and every once-promising example I found ultimately came up short.

Does that mean the update was a dud? No, I think this is the beginning of something important, and reports of niche impacts in sites with clear quality issues may very well be accurate (and, certainly, some have been reported by reputable SEOs whom I know and respect). The most viable explanation I can come up with is that this was a first step in rolling out a “helpfulness” factor, but that factor is going to take time to iterate on, ramp up, and fully build into the core algorithm.

One mystery that remains is why Google chose to pre-announce this update. Historically, for updates like Mobile-friendly or HTTPS, pre-announcements were Google’s way of influencing us to make changes (and, frankly, it worked), but this announcement arrived only a week before the update began, and after Google stated they had updated the relevant data. In other words, there was no time between the pre-announcement and the rollout to fix anything.

Ultimately, Google is sending us a signal about their future direction, and we should take that signal seriously. Look at the HTTPS update — when it first rolled out in 2014, we saw very little rankings flux and only about 8% of page-one organic results in MozCast were HTTPS URLs. Over time, Google turned up the volume and Chrome began to warn about non-HTTPS sites. In 2017, 50% of page-one organic results in MozCast were HTTPS. Today, in late 2022, it’s 99%. The Helpful Content Update probably isn’t going to change the game overnight, but the game will change, and we would all do well to start learning the new rules.

Slightly Modern LU AU

So here is a long post on an AU I have made for Linked Universe. It's gonna be a doozy, so it's under the cut.

Originally, this was supposed to be a fully modern AU. But actually expanding on it I realized I wasn't totally following that line of thought. So only certain aspects of this world are 'modern'. Things that are modern:

There are colleges and high schools. There are foster homes. Some transportation (there are trains [tends to be expensive though] for long-distance travel, but horses are used for shorter travel). There is electric lighting

This list may be expanded the longer this au goes on.

Ok now that I got that out of the way, let's get to the plot!

I don't want to reveal too much of the actual plot, in case I ever find the motivation to actually write this thing but a very short synopsis is:

Hyrule has been in a state of peace for a while, trade is booming and they're on relatively good terms with their neighboring countries. Unfortunately, the Yiga clan has been gaining allies and getting stronger while staying in the shadows. Only a select few people know about the dangers the Yiga clan possesses but are they willing to risk their lives to speak up?

So that is a very broad summary of what I am going for. It isn't too complicated that yall know of. I feel like my brain is all over the place, hopefully this whole thing makes sense lmao

Ok, let's get to our favorite boys (plus a few other important people)

Time and Malon are married (38 & 39). They have two adopted sons; Legend and Wind. They adopted Legend when he was 13 (now 19), and they have an extremely close relationship. They adopted Wind when he was 13 (now 14), their relationship is still working towards trust. Time and Malon own Lon Lon Ranch. Lon Lon is extremely famous and quite popular. They have intricate dealings with the Hyrulean royal family, and are the main source for milk, eggs, and wheat. They also breed horses.

Legend's mom is dead and dad is out of the picture, though he has an uncle he is on good terms with (he lives kinda far away tho). When he turned 17 he took two gap years (Lorule, Koholint, Labrynna, Holodrum). He learned a lot of different skills on his journey. He is a student at the local college (with Sky and Twilight) and has an apprenticeship with Four’s grandfather.

Wind was split from his younger sister when he was 8, he is still trying to find her (Time and Malon do not know about Aryll). He is in high school, with Four, Hyrule, and Wild. (I'm still working out a few kinks with Wind's character and plot)

Warriors (26) runs a home for at-risk youth. He is the legal guardian over Hyrule (17) and Wild (17). Warriors was relieved of duty to the royal guard after a serious injury when he was 25. Before he was relieved, Time was the one who taught him everything he knows. He is still an amazing fighter, even with a limp and one and a half working arms. Warriors is still very close to Artemis, Impa, and Lana. He knows all the gossip from inside the castle. When asked, he also helps with strategizing and battle plans.

Hyrule has been with Warriors for a few years (probably as long as Legend has been with Time). Hyrule’s parents died when he was 8. From what he can remember, they had always been on the run from someone or something. He is originally from Labrynna. A knight of Hyrule caught him stealing food. Instead of reprimanding him, the knight took him in (Warriors). The Yiga are searching for Hyrule for his blood. Hyrule is oblivious to what his blood can do.

Wild has only been with Warriors a few months. Wild was found by authorities stumbling around lost and confused. When questioned they found out he had memory problems - he can’t remember anything from his past and doesn’t even know his own name. The Yiga do play a part in him losing his memories (I have a lot more for Wild's own story...but I don't wanna spoil anything good)

Sky (21) is an ‘exchange’ student from Skyloft. He is a foreigner so people don’t treat him so nice, so he spends a lot of time with Legend (who could give two shits about ethnicity) at school. They make an odd pair. On Skyloft, Sky was a part of the knights but got himself kicked out. He was put on trial and was banned from Skyloft. That is the real reason that he is in Hyrule. No one knows yet, but the first to know is Legend. Sky is suspicious of his banishment from Skyloft- a lot of what happened doesn’t make sense.

Four (16) lives with his grandfather, the blacksmith. He is also an apprentice in blacksmithing, along with Legend. He is good friends with Hyrule, Wind, and Wild (especially Hyrule tho, since they’ve known each other the longest). Four’s dad is a heavy alcoholic, which is why he lives with his grandfather. The dad is kind of a pariah around town, tho not many people know that he is Four’s dad. Four and Dot (Zelda) are secretly good friends. Dot sometimes sneaks out of the castle to visit Four, and sometimes Four will use his abilities to visit Dot inside the castle.

Twilight (20) was sold to the Yiga when he was 5. When Twilight was 15 he killed master Kohga and ran from the Yiga. Rusl found him stumbling around in the woods and took him in. He stayed in Ordon for as long as he could, until the Yiga found him again (so he thinks) and he had to run. Now he is in Hyrule. He goes to college, but he is new to Hyrule. He is slowly making friends with Sky, who understands what it's like being new in town.

Paya (25) is a spy within the Yiga. Actually a member of the Shiekah, she has infiltrated the Yiga, unbeknownst to either her clan or the Yiga. She was there when Twilight killed Master Kohga, and helped him escape (though he didn’t know). She also knew the Yiga were getting closer to Twilight’s location, so sent him a message that would cause him to move.

Tetra (14) is the captain of her pirate crew. Since they travel around so much to distant lands, they’re the first to have an inkling that something isn’t right. They notice the people of Holodrum are not as welcoming, the Twilight Realm is off limits as of recently, an island has gone missing. Also (surprise) Aryll is with Tetra and the pirates. She ran away from a foster home and Tetra found her.

Ok, there are a few other important characters to the main plot, but I can't talk about them without spoiling stuff I don't want to spoil so. I'm trying to figure out what I can disclose about the Yiga...I can only think of one thing so here it is.

Koholint had a powerful Wind Fish living there, so the Yiga destroyed the island. Legend was there when the island (and Marin) was destroyed. Out of ‘luck’, he got out in one piece (physically anyway).

Ok, now on to the royal family! Not too long, I still need to expand on them a bit more, but here is what I got so far

Lullaby (Ocarina of Time Zelda) is queen, not yet married but has suitors. Most of the Zelda’s are all sisters. The King and Queen died by assassination from the Twilight Realm 15 years ago.

Lullaby (37), Artemis (25, from Hyrule Warriors), Dusk (24, from Twilight Princess), Fable (23, from Legend's games), Aurora and Dawn (20, twins, from Hyrule's games), Flora (17, from Breath of the Wild), Dot (16, from Four's games) (Tetra and Sun are not a part of the royal family)

The assassination of the king and queen caused a four-year war between Hyrule and the Twilight Realm. The Twilight king died in this war. It finally ended when Lullaby and Midna’s ‘stand-in’ (she is 9 during this time, so someone had to take her place for a little bit) worked out a peace treaty. Time fought in this war (24-28), making a name for himself. He is considered almost legendary because of what he did for Hyrule.

Hyrule is huge in this AU (basically as big as Breath of the Wild, though I didn't incorporate a lot of botw in this hm). The different 'countries' are all on the Great Sea and are basically huge islands.

Death Mountain (but the Gorons live on Holodrum on Goron Mountain), Kakariko, Lon Lon Ranch, Lake Hylia, Zora’s Domain, Gerudo desert, Rito village are all under Hyrule. The Gerudo, Zora, and Rito have their own smaller governments but they do answer to the Hyrulean royal family

The Lost Woods, Kokiri Forest, and Ordon Village are technically inside Hyrule's borders but are not governed by the royal family.

The Twilight Realm is its own country. Lorule is governed by the Twilight royal family

Skyloft is its own country and is extremely peaceful. Basically Switzerland.

Holodrum is its own country but has no real governing structure. The Gorons live on Holodrum, on Goron Mountain. They tend to stay to themselves up there

Labrynna is its own country - it is a republic. Koholint is under Labrynna’s ‘rule’. Mayor Plen (the main government of Labrynna) resides in Lynna City

Also, no one really knows how strong the Yiga are (and they are extremely formidable in this AU). All of Hyrule believe the Yiga to be a gang of thieves and criminals, not terrorists, murderers, and assassins.

The story is a sterek fic where Derek goes to stiles for help because hes developing a sexual problem and only trusts stiles to look up the answer. Stiles find out it's likely a mate thing and suggests derek figures out who hes been spending a lot of time with. Derek checks out and crosses off each of the pack before settling on Scott (because of his scent, thinking its what's triggering the response), turns out its stiles and that stiles has a very active libido and that's what's causing Derek's problem.

A lil group portrait of the time au adventuring gang!! Them <333

Basically tol fucked up as a kid and is now on the run from the law, but realized that since his life was so crazy he could live off of telling stories of his wacky adventures. When he met Jay he wanted him to come with him, and when he found out jay couldn't come cus he was virtually a demon/god/magic magnet he decided he NEEDED to bring him to capitalize on how it'd make more cool stories. And yeah it worked so since then he's been collecting wackos to aaa go crazy aaaa go stupid (and also bcus safety I numbers or whateva, pop and pip are also criminals and pastel and jay are crimes against god <3) more about each individual under the cut!

Pastel: died when she was messing around with some friends and got stuck under a big rock and left to starve. But because of a fluke in the underworld her God decided to resurrect her, a right usually only belonging to saints. Because of this she's now poorly pretending that she totally did something to deserve being revived (she tells a different story every time someone asks, she thinks it's funny) to avoid being persecuted for suspected witchcraft. She met Jay when they were both drunk and they had fun fucking around in the city, and she spilled the beans to him that she was revived for no reason. She regretted it, but jay didn't kill her because even though he's religious he knew what it felt like to be magically cursed and have everyone be pissed at u for it. Also she's really funny with jay so tol begged her to come with them to add more Comedy(tm) to his memoirs

Pop: a time traveller and angel who is trying to hide both of those facts but only really succeeding at hiding the time travel thing. When they were a kid they traveled to this time with his friends Lustre and Cherrybomb, but when they were attacked by the vicious royal guard they weren't able to escape without leaving Lustre behind. Cherrybomb super repressed that memory, and while pop recovered from some minor injuries they vowed to never time travel again. Yeah they only kept that up until they were like 15, but they still couldn't bring themself to go back to when they left Lustre. But now they're 26 (well technically they're like 33 but in their time their supposed to be 26) living with their boyfriend cherrybomb and have years of time travel experience under their belt, and they're ready to go back. Except they can't go back because they created a travel block for themself by accident because of how upsetting the event was, so instead they traveled as close as they could, about 10 years in the future of the time. Now they search for any form of closure, all they need to know is what happened to their friend, and they will do whatever it takes to find this out. But angels aren't super welcome in the past, especially not with uncut wings, so it's not exactly easy for them to navigate this time period. But after a while of their search they met two lovely children (well young adults), a demon and a "cursed" (nowadays they call em spiritually gifted) and felt so bad for how much the world seemed to be against them they decided they could travel with them, just for a bit, to protect them. They tried not to get attached. They failed. They're in it for the long run now aren't they TwT also as they explore this time and learn more about the gods, they start to realize that they might... be the God of longevity???? Or at least an older version of them became them? Time travel is fucked man

Btw Lustre plays a big role in this plot, her hyper futuristic knowledge, 'blessed' white eyes, and strange God gifted clothing would all lead to him rising to a much different role than fugitive rather quickly, but they're not who this post is about ;) also I'm gonna go bottom to top for the 3 in the middle let's go

Lune: just a little guy :) lune is a young rancher/gardener who worships the God of the wood, who kind of goes missing sometimes and is lowkey the least loyal God but shhhh he loves them. Lune and tol were childhood friends (along with their pal cleo) but on one of their little excursions tol took something very important to a very powerful king, and refused to give it back. As retribution the king destroyed their entire town, and cleo put all the blame on tol, tol and lune both knew lune had to take the side against tol in order to not have the town turn on him. So yeah he moved with the town to bring up a brand new farm, long awaiting the day when tol would come home and say that things were OK and they could settle back in town together, hopefully with cleo too. That didn't happen, but tol did come back and peer pressure lune into part time adventuring with him! So yeah generally lune just runs his lil farm and prays, but when tol comes to pick him up he gets a chance to go be free to act batshit crazy, just like when he was a kid 🥰

Pipes: DEmon! One time lune and tol had a little squabble so lune was like 'im gonna get a new best friend and ur gonna regret this' and tol was like 'yeah right, u live with a bunch of criminals right now no one's gonna wanna be ur bestie dumbass' so lune just walked into a cave at night and dragged out this little nonverbal demon because demons who live alone in caves don't have high standards for friends. Even tho it was just a ploy to make tol jealous lune went super hard on it and now pipes is actually friends with the gang lmaoo

Tol: like I said with lunes, stole something important from a king as a kid, monarch got pissed, blew up the town, town got pissed at tol for it, and since then he's been on the run because he's too stubborn to give back the damn thing (they could have just attacked HIM for it, but since la queen decided to fuck with his town, his family, tol thinks he doesn't deserve to have it back.) He had to run from town to town and got into a lot of danger in his attempts at finding places to hide, but he lacks fear and tended to fight stuff off. As a kid he found that he could get enough pity to be welcomed into towns if he told people he had to fight a monster to get there, so he told stories at every town and camp he went to of his hardships. But as he got older, those he stayed with beckoned him to keep talking, and more and more people said they had heard of his adventures. And that's when when it clicked, his shining ticket to true freedom wasn't a place, it was his stories. They gave him food, shelter, fun, memories, a life. So he made it his mission to never settle down, to make his life as crazy as possible and to talk about it as much as possible, and if he ever ran out of energy to adventure, he'd spend the rest of his dying days writing and writing his entire life story. He thought this was a life he'd live alone, but one day he sought refuge in jays little lonely house because he thought it was abonded, luckily though Jay had just been praying for a second chance at life and decided that considering the timing, tol must be that second chance. So yeah jay patched him up, found out on his monthly supply route he was harboring someone very wanted, and took care of tol even harder because he didn't know or care why he was wanted, he just knew that anyone who had a drawing of them as a child on a wanted poster definitely didn't deserve it. So yeah they're besties now.

AAA I wrote out a really long description for jay but tumblr glitched and I lost it :'O ble here's a shorter rewrite cus I'm not writing out that whole thing again >:P

Jay: brought up in a church village,, he was born with the curse, which allows him to tap into magical properties very easily, and be very easily controlled, manipulated, and possessed by them. This allowed him to be very connected with his god (the god of longevity) but also meant he was often treated as a security risk and a monster by the adults of his town since he could let in evil spirits so easily. He spent most of his time praying and he became obsessed with acting on compulsions (repeated prayer, overscrubbing, scratching himself, touching religious things until he felt like he touched them "right") because he believed they were messages from God and would prevent him from becoming evil (look he was a teenager and everyone told him he was a monster his whole life leave him be.) He gets possessed twice, mage as a rep of the town is like "either have ur cursed removed or leave town forever" (uncursing is only hypothetically possible, it's hella dangerous) and he's scared itd sever his connection to his god so he leaves and he's upset bcus his entire life plan was built around his church, so now he's livin alone on a hill and leaving like once a month, he stays up there and sews and prays mostly, he sort of works on himself and becomes vaguely mentally stable, so he prays for a second chance at life since he lost his original path and needs a sign where to go, and then boom tol shows up and the rest is history. Now he has his own little family and things are going great :) other than the still getting possessed like once a week but shhhh

Pip: in between the entrance to hell and the religious central of the continent is a little town that sides with neither. They mostly fuck around and find out, and in this town lives a monster researcher and her less formal wife, pip! Pip is just a silly goofy little guy livin life, and when the crazy bunch shows up she feels like he's finally found her people :3 and for the first time the group gains a member who's begging to join them as opposed to the other way around

Ya and together they all go on wacky lil adventures with demons and monsters and monarchs and what not.

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

26 total (although I think I have 2 or 3 that I either orphaned or deleted, can’t remember) on uhmeduh.

Oh, and 2 on another account I made specifically for my bad 10 year old me’s fanfics. No, you don’t get that one.

2) What’s your total AO3 word count?

126 862. Which is, frankly, more than I thought. I think it’s grown quite a bit in 2021, to be fair.

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

7, according to AO3. One is an original work, so I guess 6? Except Far Cry 4 and 5 are considered different by AO3, as are Persona 2 and 5. I personally consider it like 4 or 5 fandoms.

Silence is a Virtue and IWAJWAV are both multi chapter fics at 23.6k and 19.2k, respectively. sybe (syn), moacm, and undercurrent are all part of the same series of short fics and range from 4.4k (unfinished) to 7k. Lost. is a theoretical first chapter of a multi chapter fic. 4/6 fics are ATLA, 1 is Far Cry, 1 is PJO.

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yeah! I used to not because I’m incredibly awkward about it, but when I started commenting on fics myself and realized how nice it is when the author replies, I started doing it myself. I really enjoy recognizing regular commenters. I just need to stop talking so much about worldbuilding and hinting at stuff in my replies, I think ^^’.

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Hm. Probably either what is a legacy to a dead man (it is worth far more to those still living) or Shattered Porcelain. The former is most likely more angsty to readers, but the latter holds a special place in my mind because I know my OCs intimately well.

7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Most of them, to be honest. I am, at my core, a fluff writer, even if I also enjoy throwing in sprinkles of angst every so often. The entire the dragon king series is going to end pretty happy if it goes according to plan. If I had to pick a finished fic then probably Apricot Blossoms— it’s just sweet kids in love, you barely notice the darkness on the horizon.

8) Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?

Kinda? Sorta? Not really? Two of my published fics are crossovers but they’re like, crossovers within the same extended fandom.

Oh, wait, that one fic I wrote and published when I was 11 was a weird Harry Potter and mild Avengers crossover. So yeah, I guess.

9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not really, no. I occupy a pretty niche area in all the fandoms I write in, so you kind of have to search out the content I make. I’m also not popular at all in the grand scheme of things, which I’m mildly thankful for. I have some popular fic writers as friends and I see some of their commenters sometimes.

10) Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I guess? It’s not something I make a habit of, I just in general am not that horny, but I have one published smutfic on AO3 and a ficlet on Tumblr that, if it isn’t really classified as smutc definitely is close. The smut I write is pretty soft and loving and is exclusively LuZhao so far.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not as far as I know.

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope. If someone wants to I’m all for it, and theoretically I could translate my own fics into two other languages, but if there isn’t a demand there wouldn’t be much purpose other than me practicing. Who knows though, maybe one of my fics on my account will show up translated into French or Norwegian by me. Or maybe Russian, but that would be an effort. My Russian... isn’t great.

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Currently (kinda, fixing my laptop has made it take a hot second) co-writing an OC centric fic with @theboyfrommakapu. I also betaread two of @izzymrdb’s fics, and she called me their coauthor in a comment once so... I guess that counts? I also had plans to make a massive crossover with my own fic and two of my friends but then I fell out of PJO and into ATLA pretty hard.

14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?

LuZhao, definitely. I’ve just created enough stuff around it to make it my favourite. I’m also quite fond of Jastavian in the realm of PJO.

15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I fully intend to finish my two main multichapter fics eventually, but I doubt I’ll ever finish Butterfly Kisses. Especially to the extent I have it in my mind.

16) What are your writing strengths?

Uh... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe worldbuilding within an established world? I actually prefer AUs to canon compliance, but when I want something to be canon compliant then I will make sure that it is as fully canon compliant as possible (or, to the extent that canon doesn’t contradict itself). For example, at the moment all of my OCs are completely canon compliant. If I somehow were asked to publish them, they would not contradict any existing work. I put a lot of work into my OCs and worldbuilding and it definitely shows.

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

If you asked my girlfriend? My paragraphs are too long and I don’t know how to use commas. She’s right about that, of course.

If you asked me? I’d probably say something a little more vague. I’m bad at the whole “communicating just enough” aspect of writing (and of life). I tend to get absorbed by my worldbuilding and want to tell everyone every little detail, which makes no sense because you don’t need to know it for the fic’s promises.

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

So long as a translation is provided, I see no issue if it’s accurate. One of my first fandoms was Hetalia so... yeah.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

I’m not sure if it was Harry Potter, Sherlock, or Hetalia. But it was definitely one of those three and I was about 10 when I wrote it.

20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Surprisingly I haven’t mentioned it so far, but solntse moye / luna moya. Azulon and Ilah have a relationship I really like, and they both have such distinct inner voices.

When did the Airship Crash?

Disclaimer: not my words, not my ideas, just reposting to spread and preserve.

“ I’ve been studying my newly created Document-based Time-line: Before Jennifer arrived at the Orphanage in order to try to figure out a few things about the Rule of Rose game. Such as when did the airship crash? And, using the crash as a reference point, when did Jennifer arrive at Gregory’s house?

There are a couple of newspaper articles that relate to the airship flight.

The World’s Largest Airship to Take Flight

In anticipation of the coming era of airship travel, Britain announced the completion of the world’s largest airship. In its long awaited first flight, it will lift off at Cardington and fly to India by way of London. All of Britain eagerly awaits the inaugural ceremony. Along with the Mayor and the Countess, children from the local orphanage will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Luxury Airship Missing!

England’s largest luxury airship, which just set sail on its virgin flight—a flight celebrated across the country with great fanfare—was reported today to have gone off course and is currently missing.

It is speculated that the vessel diverted from its course to avoid a low pressure system approaching from the south, but its whereabouts are still unknown.

Due to the heavy thunder and rain that have blanketed the area since yesterday, the search for the airship has faced many difficulties.

It might be thought that the ribbon-cutting ceremony coincided with the beginning of the airship’s “virgin flight” (I think this is a slight miss in the translation: I’ve always heard such flights phrased as “maiden flights”). But I think that we can rule out that the flight referred to in the RoR article–23rd of June–began a full two months earlier, unless we want to try to make an argument that the airship made it to India, stayed there for quite some time, and then crashed near the end of its return flight to Cardington. The expected time for a flight from England to India was, according to this article (Airships R100 and R101) on comparable airships of this era, only 5 or 6 days.

If it were the case that the airship was on its return flight, however, I would think that something would have been included in the RoR article–23 June–regarding the airship’s success in reaching India (which I imagine would also have been celebrated with fanfare) and that it was on its return flight (and can that return flight much later still be called its virgin flight?) when lost. Instead the RoR article–23 June–says that the airship “just set sail on its virgin flight.”

I think that the “inaugural ceremony” described in the RoR article–25 April–probably was the occasion of a test flight, perhaps the first test flight, of the airship. The “virgin flight” term must’ve been saved for its first commercial flight later, which began sometime in June.

I think that the true-life story of the R101 was the inspiration for the airship flight depicted in the Rule of Rose game. The first commercial flight (it had only test flights previously), in 1930, of the R101 had the following schedule: Cardington to India: 5 days; stop-over: 4 days; return from India to Cardington: 6 days. Total round trip time: 15 days. (Airship R101 –a different article). Even the depiction, in Rule of Rose, of living spaces inside of the airship, rather than just inside of a gondola, uniquely match the R100 and R101:

Life on Board :

The R101 was seen as a lavish floating hotel. Even by today’s standards, the open promenades and public spaces would be seen as unique in the skies. These large British ships were the first to adopt the style of using the interior of the ship for the passenger accommodation. The only contemporary ship which was running a passenger service was the German Zeppelin ZL127 – Graf Zeppelin. Even then the ship could only accommodate 20 passengers who were situated in a stretched forward gondola beneath the hull of the ship. The utilisation of interior space within the R100 and R101 was a first of its kind and the R101 could boast 2 decks of space, a dining room which could seat 60 people at a time and a smoking room which could seat 20. The promenades showed off the view to the fullest advantage. Compared to the noisy smelly and tiring journey in an aeroplane, the airships were seen as pure luxury, with service comparable to that of the greatest ocean liners.

The R101 also crashed during its attempted flight to India. It crashed in France, at night during a storm, resulting in 48 deaths and 7 survivors. It was less than 8 hours into its flight.

I think that the airship in Rule of Rose also must’ve crashed very early into its flight. It took off from Cardington, and the place where Gregory (who “rescued” Jennifer) lived was also in Cardington. It makes sense to think that the crash occurred in, or very near, Cardington probably not long after take off.

Despite that radar had not been in use in those days, I don’t think that the airship could have been down for long without it being noticed that it was missing. The R101 sent and acknowledged numerous radio messages during its few hours of flight. So I think that, in the case of the airship in Rule of Rose, if it stopped acknowledging radio messages this would have been noticed promptly.

A complication arises when we now compare the weather report of the RoR article–23rd of June–which speaks of “heavy thunder and rain that have blanketed the area since yesterday”, with the weather observations of Gregory in his diary. Gregory doesn’t report rain!

Did the Rule of Rose game-writers mess-up? Or can we come up with an explanation?

I think we can come up with an explanation that works.

The airship could have gotten all the way to France within 8 hours, so it could easily, in just a few hours, gotten to an area which was blanketed with heavy thunder and rain, but which didn’t bring rain to Cardington. If the airship took damage in that storm, and perhaps had a lightning strike knock out their radio system, they might have decided to escape the storm and return to Cardington to make an injured landing. And although they did escape the storm (and make in back to, or near, Cardington) their damage still caused them to crash before making it back to their intended landing area. Jennifer survived, but was dazed and traumatized (we know she lost her memory) and wandered away from the crash site. Perhaps this occurred on the 22nd, a day that Gregory describes in his diary as “cloudy”.

I don’t see anything in Gregory’s dairy to indicate that he found Jennifer, or that Jennifer wandered into his yard, so this probably means that Jennifer didn’t arrive at Gregory’s house until after the 27th (we don’t see any diary entries later than that). Was she wandering around in the woods until then? If so, she must’ve been in pretty bad shape by the time Gregory rescued her.

If anyone has an alternate way of fitting together the clues, that seems good to them, I’d be delighted to read of it in the comments section.”

50% Increase in Domestic Islamic Terror Arrests and Plots in 2019

We’d argue that number is actually higher based on a review of our posts from May-December 2019, almost all sourced from the DOJ and FBI websites. That count has more than 40 arrests and indictments, and dozens more arrests, guilty pleas and sentencings related to jihad activities. See a partial list from our daily posts at the end of this post.

50 Percent Increase in Domestic Islamist Extremism Arrests and Plots in 2019

New York, May 18, 2020 … There was a 50 percent increase in arrests and plots linked to domestic Islamist extremism in 2019, according to data released today by ADL’s (Anti-Defamation League) Center on Extremism. There were a total of 30 arrests linked to domestic Islamist extremism, nine of which were for terror plots. Of the nine individuals arrested for plotting attacks, seven (78 percent) were U.S. citizens.

While there were no attacks or murders linked to domestic Islamist extremism last year, the findings indicate that Islamist extremism still poses a significant threat to the United States.

“Make no mistake: the threat of Islamist extremist activity in the United States is serious and cannot be ignored,” said ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt. “In 2019 alone we saw nine individuals arrested for planning attacks on U.S. soil and a total of 30 arrests linked to domestic Islamist extremism. We are deeply grateful for the efforts of federal and local law enforcement to investigate and disrupt these potentially dangerous attacks.”

In addition to the nine individuals arrested for plotting attacks, 21 others were arrested for engaging in domestic criminal activity motivated by Islamist extremism. Of those 21 individuals, a large majority faced charges for attempting to provide material support to ISIS. Approximately 70 percent of domestic Islamist extremist criminal activity in 2019 was inspired by ISIS, which has reportedly lost all of its territory in Iraq and Syria.

“ISIS’s ability to continue inspiring a large percentage of violent activity even after being effectively disbanded demonstrates the lasting influence of its violent ideology and propaganda on Islamist extremist activity in the United States,” said Oren Segal, Vice President for ADL’s Center on Extremism. “As long as the ideology persists and spreads online, extremists will continue to be inspired by violent rhetoric and instruction.”

While no physical attacks by domestic Islamist extremists materialized in 2019, a Saudi Arabian national attacked the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, in December, killing three people and injuring eight others. Federal authorities announced on Monday that they had uncovered evidence that the shooter, Mohammed Alshamrani, was encouraged by al-Qaeda to carry out the attack.
