I imagine what you see and learn touches everything else in your mind. Your values and decency are present, yet shocked at your associations—appalled at your dreams.

Goretober Day 27: Rabid
The smell was indescribable.
It had hit Mike the moment he stepped into the room.
A waft of death overcame him, he stepped back, overwhelmed, and coughed as he covered his mouth with his arm. His eyes watered as the back of his throat burned with bile, yet he fought through his nausea and forced himself into the room. Closing it behind, he coughed once more and hurried to put on a facemask, at least, managing to get himself to avoid smelling the rot any longer.
Taking a moment to collect himself, the man quietly walked over to the corpse, taser in hand, fearful but very anxious to get the answers he'd waited for so long to get.
Blood had pooled beneath the corpse, having poured out of each opening there was. Each movement prolonged the exposure of the elements from outside, the spring locks digging even deeper, and the pain getting worse with each passing second. The ‘corpse’ groaned as the locks reattached themselves to him, once again, breaking through his rotting skin to pierce the bones from beneath.
Yet, despite all that, Mike set up a chair, sat himself down, and watched.
He didn't say a single word nor did he make a move to help the corpse as it took notice of his presence and started to move at an awkward pace.
It raised its golden hand and reached out to Mike, in a desperate attempt to get help but he was met with a swift flash of a weapon. The string of metal quickly zapped him back into place, his whole body rapid to the shocks as he cried out in agony. The process had lasted for a few seconds before it stopped, Mike making no move to take the taser out as he watched the Golden rabbit wheeze and shutter violently.
“I’m not here to save you,” he spat, “I’m here for answers.”
The Golden rabbit eyed the man who sat before him, he made a move to spit out a taunt before he was shocked again.
“Answers,” Mike hissed, “I need answers from you.”
When the shocks had stopped, William let himself rest for a moment, his entire body struck with the aftershocks he struggled to let out a single word. He opened his mouth, unconsciously letting the tears in his cheeks break themselves apart to form some kind of speech. He was slow but Mike understood it piece by piece.
“Then…ask…”
Mike didn't hesitate.
“Where’s Garrett?”
A wheeze came first before bubbling, broken laughter came from the Golden rabbit. His jaw broke further as he laughed at the question, only stopping when another round of shocks bypassed him.
“Answer my question. Where's my little brother?”
Once stopped, the Golden Rabbit hissed, moving slightly to get to a better position. He gave up midway and fell back, giving out a groan in frustration as Mike continued to ask.
“Where is he? Where’s Garrett?”
“How…should I…know?” A broken gasp came from the corpse, the spring locks twitching as they pierced deeper into his organs. “Ask…others…not…me.”
“I'm asking you. Not them. You.”
Mike leaned in, his right eye slightly twitching, finger positioned on the taser’s trigger.
Nonetheless, William laughed, coughing as the locks pierced through his lungs, dragging out the pain tenfold.
“The others…ask the…same questions. But they don't…ask…the right…questions.” His eyes glowed thin pinpricks of light. “I can…sense…him, but he’s…stuck in…someplace else…”
Mike licked his chapped lips.
“Where is it? Where did you put him? In this restaurant? Another restaurant? In the forest? In your home? What? What is it? Where's my little brother?”
William gave out a small tune, head tilting side to side to mimic the song. His permanent smile echoed his madness even as Mike threatened to shock him once more. He could vaguely recognize the song yet didn't delve too deep into it, his quest for answers was far too great to ignore.
Right questions, huh?
“Alright.”
Mike sat back up, finger on the trigger, he asked his question.
“Who does Garrett possess?”
William paused.
His white eyes turned over to look at the man, his once painful gasps and wheezing then turned into laughter again. As Mike moved to shock him, the corpse laughed through the pain, his false golden jaw breaking his regular jaw beneath as he laughed louder and louder. He only calmed down enough to finally speak, giving Mike his much-needed answer.
“Box,” he wheezed in uncontrollable laughter, “Jack…in a…box.”

IN MY RESTLESS DREAMS, I SEE THAT TOWN — a byler fic
mature rating. graphic depictions. major character death (NOT BYLER). alternate universe (silent hill). word count is 14250. DAY 1 of @bylerween2023 (trapped into the upside down). snippet under line.
“I am going to Hawkins.” he finally let it out and a soft, spring breeze messed with his hair. He didn’t even try to fix it back. “I don’t think I can ignore it anymore.” he softly admitted and decided to look at the sky for the rest of his monologue. “I am not asking for your blessing. I will see this through, even if it kills me. I’m doing this for me. Not for you. And I know it’s selfish. It’s your birthday, too… So if you don’t want to see me once I’m there, I get it. I won’t back down, either, however. I hope you can understand that.” he finished speaking and he looked at the gravestone once again, a sigh escaping through his lips. “Happy birthday and I’m sorry.” it was what he told her a few months ago.
And he still stood by it, as he packed things. He still stood by it, as he prepared for everything. He still stood by it, as he sneaked out of the house in the middle of the night. He still stood by it, as he got into this rented car he got only for that trip. He still stood by it, as he finally arrived at the destination, seeing an abandoned town. There was quite a new sign that said ‘Welcome to Hawkins!’, but he knew that was not the real name of the town. It got changed, to help cover up the past of what once stood there. While his research didn’t quite turn up to be that helpful, that did not mean it was completely fruitless. He pieced together more than enough to understand what he was dealing with. To understand that he was not even supposed to reach that town and if someone, any authority of any kind, spotted him there, it could cause a big scene. Hawkins was meant to be out of bounds to everyone. Hawkins was supposed to not exist anymore. It was already a ghost town, but the disappearance of Jane Hopper, 14 years ago, changed things. Eventually, people put it to rest. No one was talking about it anymore. And, perhaps, Will should have done the same. But he couldn’t. There was a voice calling to him. To Hawkins. To Silent Hill. And he couldn’t ignore it anymore.
