Hello! I absolutely love the vibes of your moodboards, they have such warm and fun vibes. Can I request a board themed with siphonophores (gender neutral if you can!)? Siphonophores are such weird creatures but I absolutely adore them!!! They're like little constellations of the sea. Have a wonderful day and keep up the amazing work <3
Sure!!

I really love how every part of the angular roughsharks’ name describes it perfectly. In a world with so many animal names that sre just conglomerations of other animal names, its nice to have something so perfectly descriptive.

Okay, so, this is a VERY morbid question for the science side of Tumblr, BUT. Seeing how the Oceangate submersible imploded so spectacularly with debris everywhere, is there anything left from the people onboard? Like, could the deep sea critters in the abyss around the Titanic get some nutrition, like a very small scale whale fall? Or is it just like, a fine mist helpful to no one?

Daily fish fact #495
Deep sea anglerfish!
Tumblr media
Male anglerfishes have the largest nostril to head ratio of any animal! This is so that he can find a female to attach himself to in the deep abyss.

Roger Payne, the scientist who spurred a worldwide environmental conservation movement with his discovery that whales could sing, has died. He was 88.
Payne made the discovery in 1967 during a research trip to Bermuda in which a Navy engineer provided him with a recording of curious underwater sounds documented while listening for Russian submarines. Payne identified the haunting tones as songs whales sing to one another.
He saw the discovery of whale song as a chance to spur interest in saving the giant animals, who were disappearing from the planet. Payne would produce the album “Songs of the Humpback Whale” in 1970. A surprise hit, the record galvanized a global movement to end the practice of commercial whale hunting and save the whales from extinction.

@gryphonlover suggested my fave link with my fave animal and that was really hard then i remembered i like to headcanon wind with my obsession/hyperfixation/special interest in sea creatures and made a post about the Great Sea having a hyrulian equivalent to humboldt squid and so
Wind. And Humboldt Octoroksquids. (he's okay, they aren't being scary territorial rn)
(i used the first 2 pictures here for references of the squids and then tried to add some sort of something extra from wind waker-ish design stuff)
